1v1 Hoopa-Unbound

[OVERVIEW]

Hoopa-U is a premier Dark / Psychic Pokemon of 1v1, with only two weaknesses to Fairy and Bug and an immunity to Psychic, and is gifted with amazing offensive stats and coverage moves. Because of its high offensive stats, Hoopa-U can run physical, special, and mixed sets, leaving the opponent bewildered to what set it could be running and letting it break walls such as Celesteela, and defeat stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Deoxys-S before they can even set up. Its signature move in Hyperspace Fury allows Hoopa-U to beat Jumpluff and Aegislash by ignoring Substitute and Protect, while access to Gunk Shot helps beat Fairy-type Pokemon that would otherwise beat it, like Primarina and Tapu Fini. Hoopa-U also has great base Special Defense, allowing it to survive Moonblast from Tapu Lele and potentially a Hyper Beam from Choice Scarf Porygon-Z. Its Dark typing also grants Hoopa-U an immunity to Prankster-boosted status moves, letting it easily beat Whimsicott. However, Hoopa-U's lackluster physical bulk leaves it easily KOed by Pokemon faster than it or bulky hard hitters like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Landorus-T. Its ability, Magician, has little to no use in the 1v1 format. Hoopa-U's 4x weakness to Bug shouldn't be ignored either, allowing Bug-types like Genesect and Volcarona to simply OHKO it. Fairy also is one of the most common offensive types, and Pokemon such as Magearna and Mega Mawile, which are both immune to Gunk Shot, and Mega Gardevoir, which simply outspeeds Hoopa-U, all easily deal with it.

Moves
========

Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB attack that allows Hoopa-U to ignore Protect and Substitute; however, the move has a slight drawback, as it reduces Hoopa-U's Defense. Despite the Defense drop, Hyperspace Fury helps Hoopa-U beat SubSeed users like Jumpluff and deal massive damage to Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Meloetta, and Deoxys-S. Gunk Shot lets Hoopa-U beat Fairy-type Pokemon like Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele. However, its 20% miss chance shouldn't be overlooked. Zen Headbutt is Hoopa-U's secondary STAB attack and is used to hit Venusaur and Kommo-o super effectively. Fire Punch is used to beat foes that are 4x weak to it like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor; however, it cannot get rid of Kartana because it simply outspeeds and nukes Hoopa-U. Drain Punch is an option that helps beat Mega Tyranitar and Greninja. Trick shuts down Pokemon that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type: Null, while also beating FEAR Pokemon like Aron. Ice Punch can also be used to beat non-Extreme Speed Zygarde.

Set Details
========

The given HP and Defense EVs let Hoopa-U take a Meteor Mash from non-Adamant Mega Metagross. Its high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to take a Hydro Cannon from a Modest Choice Specs Greninja with the given HP investment. 216 Speed EVs allow Hoopa-U to outspeed Adamant Mega Heracross, and the remaining Attack EVs and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output, allowing it to secure KOs on bulky Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini.

Usage Tips
========

With Hoopa-U's outstanding base Special Defense, bringing it against faster but frail special attackers like Naganadel and Nihilego and getting rid of them with Hyperspace Fury is the best play. Use the appropriate move against slower Pokemon that are weak to Hoopa-U's attacks such as Mega Heracross, Tapu Bulu, and Aegislash. Additionally, Kommo-o, a Pokemon with a higher base Speed than Hoopa-U, normally doesn't run that much Speed, allowing Hoopa-U to simply outspeed it and defeat it with Zen Headbutt. However, despite Hoopa-U's aptitude at dealing with Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini, Tapu Lele can get tricky, as Z-Reflect means that Hoopa-U would have to land two of its Gunk Shots, as Hyperspace Fury cannot 2HKO through it. Against Mega Swampert, which uses Yawn, use either Hyperspace Fury on its Yawn to attack through the Protect, or use Zen Headbutt as it uses Earthquake turn 1 because Earthquake can OHKO Hoopa-U after the Defense drop on Hyperspace Fury. Against Serperior, use Hyperspace Fury when it uses Substitute or Leech Seed to 2HKO it; however, use Gunk Shot on a Leaf Storm so you can OHKO it before it 2HKOes Hoopa-U. Furthermore, Serperior can simply fish for Gunk Shot misses by repeatedly using Substitute.

Team Options
========

Hoopa-U struggles with 1v1's metagame-defining Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Magearna because of their ability to tank neutral hits and set up to OHKO Hoopa-U. Pokemon like Garchomp, Heatran, Clefable, and Mega Altaria, which can handle a good number of them, partner well with Hoopa-U. At the same time, Hoopa-U handles stall users such as Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-S, and Mew that the previous Pokemon struggle with. Hoopa-U lacks the ability to defeat Pokemon with the ability Sturdy such as Donphan, Golem, and Crustle. Pairing it with Mega Gyarados or Primarina helps deal with these Pokemon thanks to their adequate defenses, while Hoopa-U deals with Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele, which give them trouble. Despite being able to beat certain Fairy-types, Hoopa-U still can't cover all of them; Mega Mawile and Magearna are immune to Gunk Shot, while Mega Gardevoir is simply faster and OHKOes with a Pixilate-boosted Hyper Beam. Hoopa-U is also 4x weak to Bug. Pair it with Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, or Heatran, as they cover both Bug-types and the Fairy-types Hoopa-U fails to beat. In return, Hoopa-U is able to take out Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Mega Slowbro, which they typically struggle with.

move 4: Hidden Power Ice / Focus Blast / Trick

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Dark Pulse is Hoopa-U's primary STAB move, hitting Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross and Mega Slowbro super effectively, and when paired with Hoopa-U's high base Special Attack, it deals massive damage to Pokemon that take neutral damage from it like Volcanion and Heatran.
Thunderbolt allows Hoopa-U to notably beat Mega Gyarados and Celesteela more reliably than Dark Pulse. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Grass Knot, as it still beats Mega Gyarados but also covers Mega Swampert; however, this makes the Celesteela matchup more difficult. Psychic is Hoopa-U's secondary STAB move and is used to hit Mega Venusaur and Mega Blaziken super effectively. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Hyperspace Hole; although it inflicts less damage than Psychic, it does bypass Protect and Substitute, allowing it to beat Jumpluff and making the Whimsicott matchup much easier. Hidden Power Ice is used to beat Garchomp, Zygarde, and Jolly Landorus-T, while Focus Blast helps beat Incineroar and Mega Tyranitar. Alternatively, Trick shuts down Pokemon that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type: Null, while also beating FEAR Pokemon like Aron.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP and Defense investment allows Hoopa-U to take a boosted Waterfall from Dragon Dance Mega Gyarados, a Tectonic Rage from Garchomp, and a Fake Out plus Malicious Moonsault from bulky Incineroar, while its high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Greninja, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, and Heatran. The remaining Special Attack EVs and Choice Specs maximize Hoopa-U's damage output. A faster spread of 148 HP / 184 Def / 4 SpA / 176 Spe with a Timid nature can be run to outspeed Tapu Fini and Adamant Gyarados while still taking a Dragon Dance-boosted Waterfall from Mega Gyarados. However, this frailer set cannot survive a hit from a Garchomp or Incineroar.

Usage Tips
========

Because of its naturally high base Special Defense, Hoopa-U is great at handling faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja. STAB Dark Pulse allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage to neutral targets like Heatran and Volcanion and OHKO Ghost- and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Aegislash and Mew. Hoopa-U is also a great answer to common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-S, and Mew, and it can also beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hyperspace Hole ignoring Substitute. Choice Specs Hoopa-U is a great Water-type answer because of Thunderbolt or Grass Knot, beating Mega Swampert and Mega Gyarados; however, Mega Gyarados can beat Hoopa-U with some luck from either a flinch or high damage rolls. Furthermore, the slower Hoopa-U spread loses to Tapu Fini.

Team Options
========

Choice Specs Hoopa-U is great at dealing with Ground-types such as Garchomp, Zygarde, and Jolly Landorus-T, so partnering it with a Steel-type Pokemon such as Heatran and Magearna would be appreciated. At the same time, these Steel-type Pokemon deal with the Fairy-types Hoopa-U struggles with, such as Gardevoir and Tapu Lele. Choice Specs Hoopa-U has no tool to deal with Fairy-types such as Tapu Lele, Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Mega Gardevoir. Thus pairing Hoopa-U with Salazzle or Jirachi, which deal with these Pokemon quite well, is appreciated. At the same time, Hoopa-U deals with the Water-types Salazzle and Jirachi struggle with, such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Swampert. Choice Specs Hoopa-U still fails to beat some of 1v1's strongest Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X and Y, Dragonite, and Magearna. Garchomp, Heatran, and Mega Altaria deal with most of them and appreciate Hoopa-U dealing with stall Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro and Mew that they can't take on. Hoopa-U is also great at bluffing sets and baiting. Its Choice Specs set is great at baiting Mega Gyarados, while its Choice Band set baits Primarina and Tapu Fini. Having at least one physical attacking Pokemon and a special attacking Pokemon makes the opponent question what set Hoopa-U could be running.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hoopa-U can run a Choice Scarf set to outspeed Pokemon that would otherwise just OHKO it. Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Genesect, and Kartana are examples. However, this set sacrifices Hoopa-U's overall damage output, losing the Primarina and Mega Slowbro matchups. A Darkinium Z set with two Dark-type moves, one physical and one special, and Taunt allows Hoopa-U to reliably beat dual screens users such as Serperior and choose whether to take on physically frail Pokemon such as Nihilego and Araquanid or specially frail foes such as Rhyperior. This set, however, sacrifices Gunk Shot and therefore loses to Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu. A quite niche move to run is Skill Swap, which lets Hoopa-U tank a move from Multiscale Dragonite and OHKO in return with Ice Punch or steal Crustle or Magnezone's Sturdy to tank a hit and OHKO in return with a Z-Move. It's a set designed to catch people off guard, but it only truly works in specific matchups. Hoopa-U can run a bulky Psychium Z set with Reflect, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, and Psychic to reliably beat Porygon-Z, Donphan, and Golem; however, it struggles to beat the Ground-types the Choice Specs set beats and the Fairy-types such as Tapu Lele and Tapu Bulu that the Choice Band set deals with.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Physical Attackers**: Because of Hoopa-U's low Defense stat, Pokemon like Mega Charizard X and Dragonite, which all can take a hit from Hoopa-U, can 2HKO it.

**Fast Nukes**: Hoopa-U is not the fastest Pokemon around, so foes like Mega Charizard Y, Kartana, and Archeops just outspeed it and beat it with their strongest move.

**Fairy-types**: Despite Hoopa-U's ability to beat common Fairy-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu, it still fails to beat Magearna, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gardevoir because they're either immune to Gunk Shot or are faster and OHKO Hoopa-U.

**Sturdy**: Hoopa-U lacks the right utility to reliably beat all Pokemon with Sturdy. Donphan, Golem, and Crustle can simply use their Z-Moves to OHKO Hoopa-U.

**Bug-types**: Genesect and Volcarona, which Hoopa-U can't hit super effectively and all run a Bug-type move, simply OHKO Hoopa-U.

  • Being a Dark-type also gifts Hoopa-U with immunity to the ability Prankster, beating Whimsicott and Sableye no, it mega evolves and metal bursts immediately
  • However, Hoopa-U has a lackluster defense in the physical side and is easily killed by mons faster than it, or mons that can take a hit and deal massive amounts of damage. • Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB, unique to Hoopa-U, and allows Hoopa-U to ignore Protect and Substitute. However, the move has a slight drawback as it reduces Hoopa-U's defense stat. Despite that, Hyperspace Fury helps beat SubSeed users like Jumpluff and Whimsicott, and deal massive damage to Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Meloetta, and Deoxys-Speed.
  • Gunk Shot helps Hoopa-U beat Fairy-type Pokemon like Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele. The move however has a 20% miss chance that shouldn't be overlooked.
  • Zen Headbutt is its secondary STAB and is used to hit Venusaur and Kommo-o super effectively. Despite having less damage than Hyperspace Fury, has a chance to miss, and doesn't have the ability to break through Substitute and Protect, it does however, have no downside of reducing Hoopa-U's defense stat you're not comparing or slashing those two moves together, so the comparison is unnecessary and has an upside chance of flinching.
  • Fire Punch is used to beat mons that are x4 weak to it like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor. mention that Kartana will beat you bc it outspeeds
  • Ice Punch helps Hoopa-U deal with non-Extreme Speed Zygarde 148+ Atk Choice Band Hoopa-Unbound Ice Punch vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Zygarde: 372-440 (89.2 - 105.5%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO, can't ohko with z-arrows, also if thats the only reason remove this move, make it a move mention (its not in the set but you keep it here at the end), while Drain Punch helps beat Tyranitar-Mega and Greninja. make this a separate bullet point
  • Trick cheeses mons that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type:Null, while also beating FEAR mons like Aron and Pineco. not in VR

  • It's high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to live Modest Choice Specs Hydro Cannon from Greninja, with 88 HP.
  • 180 Spe is to outspeed base 60 mons like Magnezone, Aegislash and Primarina. But when does this matter? Primarina and Aegi never run speed and Magnezone just ewebs into z-zap and wins. I would make it 250 speed to outspeed adamant Heracross, changing the spread to 88 HP / 112 Atk / 92 Def / 216 Spe
  • The remaining Attack EVs and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output.
Usage Tips
========

  • Hoopa-U has an outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him against faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja and using Hyperspace Fury to get rid of them is the best play
  • Hyperspace Fury in addition with STAB allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage and OHKO Ghost-, and Psychic-type pokemon such as Meloetta and Aegislash. It's ability to ignore Substitute and Protect also helps deal with Celesteela, Jumpluff, and Serperior. However, it's drawback that reduces the defense stat by one stage should not be overlooked, allowing Gyro Ball from Ferrothorn to OHKO at -1. not rlly a relevant example since you'd use Fire Punch against Ferrothorn
  • Hoopa-U is also a great stall answer beating common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, Mew and Necrozma.
  • Can beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hoopa-U's Hyperspace Fury that ignore substitute
  • Having access to Gunk Shot helps Hoopa-U bait Fairy-type Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, slow Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Lele, and proceed to OHKO them with Gunk Shot. However, it does have a 20% chance of missing. not relevant for usage
Team Options

  • Hoopa-U struggles with 1v1's meta-defining Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Magearna because of their ability to tank neutral hits and setup to OHKO Hoopa-U. Pokemon like Garchomp, Heatran, Clefable, and Mega Medicham, better examples out there, as that only reliably beats mgyara and dnite who can handle a good number of these meta-defining Pokemon partner well with Hoopa-U. At the same time, Hoopa-U handles stall users such as Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, and Mew that the previous Pokemon struggle with.
  • There are still Pokemon too bulky for Hoopa-U to beat. Pokemon like Type:Null or Porygon2 But don't you run Trick? wouldn't that beat these.. Pairing Hoopa-U with Mega Lopunny or Mega Medicham to deal with them is appreciated. At the same time, Hoopa-U beats the Psychic-types and Fairy-types that threaten Mega Lopunny and Mega Medicham. Pokemon such as Meloetta, Tapu Fini, and Primarina.
  • Hoopa-U lacks the ability to defeat Pokemon with the ability Sturdy such as Donphan, Golem, and Crustle. Pairing it with Mega Gyarados or Haxorus helps deal with these Pokemon thanks to the ability Mold Breaker, while Hoopa-U deals with Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele, Pokemon that gives Mega Gyarados and Haxorus trouble.
  • Despite being able to beat Fairy-types, Hoopa-U still can't cover all of them, Mega Mawile and Magearna are immune to Gunk Shot, while Mega Gardevoir is simply faster and OHKOs with a Pixelate boosted Hyper Beam. Hoopa-U is also x4 weak to Bug. Pairing it with Heatran, that covers both Bug-types and the Fairy-types Hoopa-U fail to cover helps.

  • Hoopa-U can run a Scarf set to outspeed Pokemon that would otherwise just OHKO it. Pokemon such as Mega Lopunny, Mega Gardevoir, and Garchomp you beat the underlined with bulky specs. This set however sacrifices Hoopa-U's damage output as you would have to run 252 Speed with a Jolly Nature. why? why is this necessary Sacrificing the Primarina, Mega Slowbro, and in general, stall Pokemon matchups such as Mew and Necrozma.
  • A Darkinium Z set with two Dark-type moves, one physical and one special, and access to Taunt allows Hoopa-U to reliably beat stall Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro, Mew, and Type:Null. Weren't you already doing this? what makes this set different This however sacrifices Gunk Shot and therefore loses to Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu.
  • A quite niche move to run is Skill Swap. Swapping with Dragonite's Multiscale to live a move and OHKO in return with Ice Punch. Swapping with Crustle or Magnezone's Sturdy to live at 1hp and OHKO in return with a Z-move. It's a set designed to catch people off guard, but is quite risky to run. how is it risky? all the examples listed should be guaranteed.
Checks and Counters

**Certain Fairy-types**: Despite being able to beat common Fairy-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu, Hoopa-U still fails to beat Magearna, Mawile, and Mega Gardevoir because they're either immune to Gunk Shot or is faster and OHKO Hoopa-U This shouldn't be the top, as its not the most general weakness. Move to below 'fast nukes'

**Bulky physical attackers**: Because of Hoopa-U's low defense stat, Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, and Dragonite, who all can live a hit from Hoopa-U and setup in front of it can proceed to OHKO 2HKO Hoopa-U setting up would be a misplay against bulky specs

**Fast nukes**: Hoopa-U is not the fastest mon around, Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Mega Lopunny, bulky specs mostly wins and Archeops just outspeeds and beat Hoopa-U with their highest damaging move.

**Sturdy**: Hoopa-U lacks the right utility to reliably beat all Pokemon with Sturdy. Donphan, Golem, and Crustle simply uses their Z-moves to OHKO Hoopa-U

**Eviolite users**: Though running Trick beats this group of Pokemon, Type:Null, Porygon2, and Chansey, gives Hoopa-U a hard time because of their insane bulk, and ability to recover damage. trick should be an option on both sets

**Bug-types**: Genesect and Volcarona, who Hoopa-U can't hit super effectively, and all run a Bug move simply OHKOs Hoopa-U with its x4 weakness to Bug

  • Access to Gunk Shot helps beat Fairy-type Pokemon that seem to beat Hoopa-U, mons like Primarina and Tapu Fini.
  • Hoopa-U also has great base Special Defense, allowing it giving it the potential to survive Moonblast from Tapu Lele, and Hyper Beam from Scarf Porygon-Z. 252+ SpA Adaptability Porygon-Z Hyper Beam vs. 88 HP / 0 SpD Hoopa-Unbound: 294-348 (91 - 107.7%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO changed wording bc your first set will lose often
Mons Pokemon avoid casual language like Mega Lopunny, Mega Charizard X, and Mega Gyarados bulky specs will beat those two most of the time will overpower .
  • It's ability, Magician, has little to no use in the 1v1 format.
  • Hoopa-U's x4 weakness from Bug shouldn't be ignored as well, Bug-types like Genesect and Volcarona simply OHKO Hoopa-U Mention that Fairy-type is one of the most common offensive types, and Pokemon like Magearna and Mega Gardevoir easily annihilate Hoopa-U

Moves
========

  • Trick cheeses mons that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type:Null, while also beating FEAR mons like Aron and Pineco. not in VR
Set Details
========

  • 88 HP and 92 Def lets you live a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross.
Usage Tips
========

========

Moves
========

  • Dark Pulse is Hoopa-U's primary STAB move, hitting Psychic-type Pokemon like Meloetta its faster, uses Calm Mind into Z-Hyper Beam and OHKOes, Mega Metagross, and Mega Slowbro super effectively and paired with Hoopa-U's high base Special Attack, deal massive damage to Pokemon who take neutral damage from it, Pokemon like Volcanion and Heatran.
  • Thunderbolt allows Hoopa-U to beat Primarina and Mega Gyarados and beats Celesteela more reliably. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Grass Knot, as it still beats Primarina and Mega Gyarados, but also adds Yawn+Protect you should beat all Mega Swampert Mega Swampert, however, running Grass Knot makes the Celesteela matchup more difficult.
  • Psychic is Hoopa-U's secondary STAB move and is used to hit Mega Venusaur and Mega Heracross super effectively. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Hyperspace Hole, although it has less damage than Psychic it does however bypass Protect and Substitute allowing it to beat Jumpluff and make the Whimsicott matchup much easier.
  • Hidden Power Ice is used to beat Garchomp and Zygarde, while Focus Blast helps beat Incineroar and Mega Tyranitar.
  • why not also have Trick for this one?

Usage Tips
========

  • Hoopa-U has an outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him against faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja and using the appropriate move to get rid of them is the best play
  • Dark Pulse in addition with STAB allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage and OHKO Ghost-, and Psychic-type pokemon such as Meloetta and Aegislash. Using it to hit Pokemon affected by it neutrally, like Heatran and Volcanion, helps in these matchups.
  • Hoopa-U is also a great stall answer beating common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, Mew and Necrozma.
  • Can beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hoopa-U's Hyperspace Hole that ignores Substitute.
  • Specs Hoopa-U is a great Water-type answer because of Thunderbolt or Grass Knot, beating Primarina, Mega Gyarados, and Yawn+Protect Mega Swampert. However, the slower Hoopa-U spread loses to Tapu Fini, so be careful around it.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

===================

Overall a pretty solid analysis, just a few incorrect matchup assumptions. Tell me how you think about the ev/moveset changes i suggested before I give a stamp
Kept the EV changes, had a few word changes, and implemented the stuff.

  • Having high offensive stats allows it to break walls such as Celesteela, and defeat stall before they can even setup. Stall users like Mega Slowbro and Deoxys-Speed.
  • Its signature move, Hyperspace Fury, allows Hoopa-U to ignore Substitute and Protect and beat Jumpluff, Whimsicott, and Aegislash.
  • Access to Gunk Shot helps beat Fairy-type Pokemon that seem to beat Hoopa-U, mons like Primarina and Tapu Fini.
  • Hoopa-U also has great base Special Defense, allowing it to survive Moonblast from Tapu Lele, and giving it potential to survive a Hyper Beam from Scarf Porygon-Z.
  • Being a Dark-type also gifts Hoopa-U with immunity to the ability Prankster, easily beating Whimsicott.
  • However, Hoopa-U has a lackluster defense in the physical side and is easily killed by Pokemon faster than it, or Pokemon that can take a hit and deal massive amounts of damage in return. Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Landorus-T all overpower Hoopa-U
  • It's ability, Magician, has little to no use in the 1v1 format.
  • Hoopa-U's x4 weakness from Bug shouldn't be ignored as well, Bug-types like Genesect and Volcarona simply OHKO Hoopa-U.
  • Fairy-type, being one of the most common offensive types, with Pokemon such as Magearna and Mega Mawile, Pokemon who are both immune to Gunk Shot, and Mega Gardevoir, who simply outspeeds, all easily deal with Hoopa-U.

  • Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB, unique to Hoopa-U, and allows Hoopa-U to ignore Protect and Substitute. However, the move has a slight drawback as it reduces Hoopa-U's defense stat. • Gunk Shot helps Hoopa-U beat Fairy-type Pokemon like Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele. The move however has a 20% miss chance that shouldn't be overlooked.
  • Zen Headbutt is its secondary STAB and is used to hit Venusaur and Kommo-o super effectively and has a chance of flinching.
  • Fire Punch is used to beat mons that are x4 weak to it like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, however, it cannot get rid of Kartana because it simply outspeeds Hoopa-U
  • Drain Punch helps beat Mega Tyranitar and Greninja.
  • Trick cheeses Pokemon that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type:Null, while also beating FEAR Pokemon like Aron
  • Ice Punch can also be used to beat non-Extreme Speed Zygarde.

  • 88 HP EVs and 92 Def EVs lets you live a Meteor Mash from Mega Metagross.
  • It's high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to live a Modest Hydro Cannon from a Choice Specs Greninja with 88 hp
  • 216 Spe EVs allows Hoopa-U to outspeed Adamant Mega-Heracross
  • The remaining Attack EVs and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output.
Usage Tips
========

However, it's drawback that reduces the defense stat by one stage should not be overlooked.
Team Options
========

  • Hoopa-U struggles with 1v1's meta-defining Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Magearna because of their ability to tank neutral hits and setup to OHKO Hoopa-U. Pokemon like Garchomp, Heatran, Clefable, and Mega Altaria who can handle a good number of these meta-defining Pokemon partner well with Hoopa-U. At the same time, Hoopa-U handles stall users such as Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, and Mew that the previous Pokemon struggle with.
  • Hoopa-U lacks the ability to defeat Pokemon with the ability Sturdy such as Donphan, Golem, and Crustle. Pairing it with Mega Gyarados or Primarina Haxorus (Haxorus isn't a great example, because although it gets Mold Breaker, it actually can't deal with Sturdy Pokemon well at all) helps deal with these Pokemon thanks to their adequate defenses, ability Mold Breaker, while Hoopa-U deals with Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele, Pokemon that gives Mega Gyarados and Primarina Haxorus trouble. (just giving Primarina as a suggestion as it seems to deal with the mons you've specified. If anything else fits better that you'd like to add, let us know)
  • Despite being able to beat certain Fairy-types, Hoopa-U still can't cover all of them, Mega Mawile and Magearna are immune to Gunk Shot, while Mega Gardevoir is simply faster and OHKOs with a Pixelate boosted Hyper Beam. Hoopa-U is also x4 weak to Bug. Pairing it with Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Heatran, that covers both Bug-types and the Fairy-types Hoopa-U fail to cover helps. In return, Hoopa-U is able to lure Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Mega Slowbro, which they typically struggle with. (I think broadening it to Fire-types is better simply because they resist both bug and fairy and generally are good partners)

  • Thunderbolt allows Hoopa-U to beat Primarina and Mega Gyarados and beats Celesteela more reliably than Dark Pulse. 88 HP EVs and 92 Def EVs lets you live a Meteor Mash from non-Adamant Mega Metagross. It's high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to live a Modest Hydro Cannon from a Choice Specs Greninja with 88 hp. 216 Spe EVs allows Hoopa-U to outspeed Adamant Mega-Heracross. The remaining Attack EVs and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output. Make sure to clarify what for, since if they aren't going towards anything, you can just make yourself bulk Adamant Gross.

Usage Tips
========

Hoopa-U has an outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him against faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja the matchup against Greninja is actually a bit more dicey than just using Fury, since Dark Pulse can 2HKO/crit/flinch you, and lives a Fury, while Drain Punch isn't necessarily a safe play, either, since SubTorrent sets exist and Grass Knot 2HKOs you while Drain Punch fails to OHKO or restore enough HP. and using Hyperspace Fury to get rid of them is the best play. Hyperspace Fury in addition with STAB allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage and OHKO Ghost-, and Psychic-type pokemon such as Meloetta and Aegislash. It's ability to ignore Substitute and Protect also helps deal with Celesteela, Jumpluff, and Serperior. However, it's drawback that reduces the defense stat by one stage should not be overlooked. Hoopa-U is also a great stall answer beating common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, Mew and Necrozma. Having access to Gunk Shot helps Hoopa-U bait Fairy-type Pokemon such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, slow Tapu Bulu, and Tapu Lele, and proceed to OHKO them with Gunk Shot. All of this is best outlined in the Moves section
  • This section is ideally used to outline general groups of Pokemon (emphasis on groups, rather than individually selected mons) that the analyzed Pokemon is good at handling, as well as particular matchups that act as exceptions to how you would normally handle a Pokemon of the aforementioned general group.
    • An example of this being how Hoopa has to hit 2 Gunk Shots vs Lele, in the event Lele uses Z-Reflect, and cannot 2HKO through Z-Reflect with Fury.
    • Kommo-o and Genesect are another good example, as, even though they have higher base Speed than Hoopa, they often don't run sufficient Speed investment to reliably outspeed it (Kommo-o moreso than Genesect). Do be wary of Speedy Specs or Scarf Genesect, though. Similar deal for Bulu, though it has lower base Speed.
    • Against Serperior, it is a 50/50 between using Hyperspace Fury or Gunk Shot, as Serperior can either Sub on Gunk to fish for a dodge, or Leaf Storm on Fury to 2HKO.
    • Against Swampert, it is another 50/50, as they can use Yawntect vs Zen Headbutt to fish for Sleep rolls and 2HKO, or they can outright OHKO with Earthquake after a Defense drop from Fury.

Can beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hoopa-U's Hyperspace Hole that ignores Substitute. Specs Hoopa-U is a great Water-type answer because of Thunderbolt or Grass Knot, beating Mega Gyarados Note that, since you're slower than Gyarados, your biggest fear is them using Waterfall twice, which, while you do live pretty reliably, still puts you at considerable risk of them getting a single flinch, crit, or even just the 2HKO roll, and Mega Swampert. However, the slower Hoopa-U spread loses to Tapu Fini, so be careful around it.

This is all basically verbatim from the other set, besides the mention of Gyarados. Surely there must be other mons that Hoopa interacts with? Or perhaps you can just split them across the two Sets. Specs Hoopa-U is great at dealing with Ground-types such as Garchomp, Zygarde, and Jolly variants of Landorus-T, partnering it with a Pokemon who struggle with these like Steel-type Pokemon such as Heatran and Magearna, would be appreciated. I've did most of the stuff, on the Serperior thing, Fury 2hkos 252 HP set, and since it usually runs 0 SpA, Leaf Storm cannot 2hko, on the other hand, it having 252 SpA will only get it Ohkod from Fury.

About the CM and NPlot (And also Psychium), what does it help with it?

If I can't AMQC, then I'll AMGP, coz Hoopa-U is godly... Still WIP, my AMGP, ignore till I do it, and even after, feel free to ignore it, coz I spent what like, just 2.5 hours on it
[OVERVIEW]

Hoopa-U is a premier Dark- and Psychic-type Pokemon of 1v1,only weak to two types being Fairy and Bug, immune to psychic moves, and is gifted(remove comma and dexinfo) with amazing offensive stats and coverage moves, which lets it beat Pokemon like Tapu Fini, Mega Tyranitar and Celesteela(If you want to talk about the Pokemon that gets KOd by coverage moves, I feel you should do it here). Because of it'sits(RA) high offensive stats, Hoopa-U can run physical, special, and mixed sets that makes the opponent bewildered to what set you could be running. Having high offensive stats allows it to break walls such as Celesteela and defeat stall before they can even setup. Stall users like Mega Slowbro and Deoxys-Speedit difficult to predict the set at team preview, and this also helps it defeat defensive Pokemon like Celesteela and Mega Slowbro.(rephrasing it) Its signature move, Hyperspace Fury, allows Hoopa-U to ignore Substitute and Protect and beat Jumpluff, and Aegislash. Access to Gunk Shot helps beat Fairy-type Pokemon that would otherwise beat Hoopa-U, Pokemon like Primarina and Tapu Fini (Am not sure about this, but I think this is better in Choice Band movesets rather than here. If you wanna talk about coverage moves, you could talk about it in the first sentence).Hoopa-Ualso has's great base Special Defensespecial bulk, (RC) allowings it to survive strong moves like a Moonblast from Tapu Lele, and giving it potential to survive a Hyper Beam from Choice Scarf Adaptability Porygon-Z with appropriate investment(just phrasing it better). Being a Dark-type also giftsgrants Hoopa-U with an immunity to the ability Prankster, easily beatingthus enabling it to beat Whimsicott. However, Hoopa-U has lackluster defense in the physical sidephysical bulk, and is easily killed by Pokemon faster than it, or Pokemon that can take a hit and deal massive amounts of damage in return. PokemonKOd by faster and/or bulky physical attackers like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Landorus-T all overpower Hoopa-U. It's.Its ability, Magician, has little to no use in the 1v1 format. Hoopa-U's x4 weakness from Bug shouldn't be ignored as well, Bug-types like Genesect and Volcarona simply OHKO Hoopa-U. Fairy-type, being one of the most common offensive types, with Pokemon such as Magearna and Mega Mawile, who are both immune to Gunk Shot, and Mega Gardevoir, who simply outspeeds, all easily deal with Hoopa-U's crippling weakness to Bug- and Fairy-types leaves it vulnerable to Pokemon commonly encountered in 1v1, like Genesect, Volcarona, Magearna, and Mega Mawile. (Combining two sentences and cutting down on fluff)

Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB, unique to Hoopa-U, andallows Hoopa-U to deal massive damage to Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Meloetta, and Deoxys-Speed. It can also ignorebypass Protect and Substitute.However, the move has a slight drawback as it reduces Hoopa-U's defense stat. Despite that, Hyperspace Fury helps, which lets it beat SubSeed users like Jumpluff, and deal massive damage to Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Meloetta, and Deoxys-Speed. However, the move has a slight drawback as it reduces Hoopa-U's already-poor defense stat.[Rearranging the order to make cogent sense] Gunk Shot helps Hoopa-U beat Fairy-type Pokemon like Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele. The move however has a 20% miss chance that shouldn't be overlooked. Zen Headbutt is its secondary STAB and is used to hit Mega Venusaur(p sure you meant Mega Venusaur) and Kommo-o super effectively and has a chance of flinching (Mention one unfavorable matchup where Zen Headbutt flinching helps Hoopa-U). Fire Punch is used to beat monsslower Pokemon that are x4 weak to it like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor, however, it cannot get rid of Kartana because it simply outspeeds and nukes Hoopa-U. Drain Punch helps beat Mega Tyranitar and Greninja. Trick cheeses Pokemon that carry Leftovers or Eviolite,(RC) like Pyukumuku and Type:Null, while also beating FEAR Pokemon like Aron. Ice Punch can also be used to beat non-Extreme Speed Zygarde.

88 HP EVs and 92 Def EVs lets youHoopa-U live a Meteor Mash from non-Adamant Mega Metagross. It'sIts high Special Defense statspecial bulk already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to live a Modest Hydro Cannon from a Choice Specs Greninja with 88 hpHP EVs. 216 Spe EVs allows Hoopa-U to outspeed Adamant Mega-Heracross. The remaining Attack EVs, coupled with an Adamant nature and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output allowing it to secure kills on bulky Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini

Usage Tips
========

Since Hoopa-U has anoutstanding base Special Defensespecial bulk, bringing him against faster but frail special attackers like Naganadel and Nihilego and using Hyperspace Fury to get rid ofKO("Get rid of" them sounds like there is play left after getting rid, "KO" just makes it clear that the match is over right after Hoopa-U KOs these Pokemon)them is the best play. Using the appropriate move against slower Pokemon who are weak to Hoopa-U's attacks such as Mega Heracross, Tapu Bulu, Kommo-o and Aegislash easily deals with them. Additionally, Kommo-o, a Pokemon who has a higher base speed than Hoopa-U, normally doesn't run that much speed, allowing Hoopa-U to simply outspeed and defeat with Zen Headbutt.Despite Hoopa-U's aptitude atability to dealing with Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini, Tapu Lele however can get tricky, as it can use Z-Reflect and Hoopa-U would have to land two of its Gunk Shot to secure the KO, and Hyperspace Fury cannot 2HKO through it. Against Mega Swampert, whoich uses Yawn to its advantage, where you coulduse either Hyperspace Fury on itswhen you prdict to use Yawn andto ignore Protect and 2HKO,(AC)or use Zen Headbutt as it simply useswhen you predict is to use Earthquake turn 1 because Earthquake can OHKO Hoopa-U after the defense drop onfrom Hyperspace Fury. Against Serperior, use Hyperspace Fury when it uses Substitute or Leech Seed to 2HKO it, however, use Gunk Shot on a Leaf Storm so you can OHKO it before it 2HKOs Hoopa-UFurthermore, Serperior can simply hope for misses by substituting on the Gunk Shot so be carefulto get the 2HKO while Serperior cannot 2HKO you. (4 SpA Contrary Serperior Leaf Storm over 2 turns vs. 96 HP / 0 SpD Hoopa-Unbound: 265-313 (81.5 - 96.3%) -- not a KO. Also, mention an example or two, preferably non-repetitive, where you won't want the user to bring Hoopa-U)

Team Options

Hoopa-U struggles withagainst 1v1's meta-definingwidely-used(IDK, I feel like "meta-defining" would means less for an analyses reader than usage would) Pokemon such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard YZeraora, Dragonite, Mega Gyarados, and Magearna because of their ability to tank neutral hits and setup to OHKO Hoopa-U(Usage says that Zeraora is #5, while Mega Charizard Y is #13, so I'd say Zeraora is more "meta-defining"). Pokemon like Garchomp, Heatran, Clefable, and Mega Altaria,(AC) whowhich can handle a good number of these meta-defining (repetitions are an eyesore in an analysis; try to avoid it)Pokemon partner well with Hoopa-U. At the same time, Hoopa-U handles stall users such as Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, and Mew that the previous Pokemonaforementioned teammates struggle with. Hoopa-U lacks the ability to defeat Pokemon with the ability Sturdy such as Donphan, Golem, and Crustle. Pairing it with Mega Gyarados or Primarina helps deal with these Pokemon thanks to their adequate defenses while Hoopa-U deals with Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele, Pokemon that gives Mega Gyarados and Primarina trouble. Despite being able to beat certain Fairy-types, Hoopa-U still can't cover all of them, since Mega Mawile and Magearna are immune to Gunk Shot, while Mega Gardevoir is simply faster and OHKOs with a Pixelate boosted Hyper Beam. Hoopa-U is also x4 weak to Bug. Pair it with Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, Heatran, that covers both Bug-types and the Fairy-types Hoopa-U fail to cover helps. In return, Hoopa-U is able to luretake care of Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Mega Slowbro, which they typically struggle with. (Mega CharizardX and Heatran are the ones which are luring Primarina and Mega Slowbro for Hoopa-U to finish, and not vice versa)

Moves
========

Dark Pulse is Hoopa-U's primary STAB move, hitting Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Metagross,(RC) and Mega Slowbro super effectively and paired with Hoopa-U's high base Special Attack, deal massive damage to Pokemon who take neutral damage from it, Pokemon like Volcanion and Heatran.(Remove the unnecessary linebreak here)Thunderbolt allows Hoopa-U to notably beat Mega Gyarados and beatsCelesteela more reliably than Dark Pulse. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Grass Knot, as it still beats Mega Gyarados, but also addstakes care of Mega Swampert, however,though running it makes the Celesteela matchup more difficult. Psychic is Hoopa-U's secondary STAB move and is used to hit Mega Venusaur and Mega HeracrossBlaziken(Heracross outspeeds Hoopa-U as non-Mega, and can 3HKO with Pin Missile, so I feel Mega Blaziken is a better example) super effectively. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Hyperspace Hole, a. A(AP)lthough it hasdoes less damage than Psychic it does however bypass Protect and Substitute,(AC) allowing it to beat Jumpluff and make the Whimsicott matchup much easierfavorable. Hidden Power Ice is used to beat Garchomp, Zygarde and Jolly variants of Landorus-T, while Focus Blast helps beat Incineroar and Mega Tyranitar. Trick cheeses Pokemon that carry Leftovers or Eviolite, like Pyukumuku and Type:Null, while also beating FEAR Pokemon like Aron. (Rephrase it a bit to make it look like it wasn't stolen from the previous set)

252 HP EVs and 252 Def EVs along with a Bold nature(very important, since it is also counted as a part of the EVs) allows Hoopa-U to live a boosted Waterfall after a Dragon Dance from Mega Gyarados(you already mentioned boosted, so DDance becomes redundant), a Tectonic Rage from Garchomp, and a Fake Out plus Malicous Moonsault from bulky Incineroar. It'sIts high Special Defense statspecial bulk already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Choice Specs Greninja(you don't tank from hits Torrent-boosted WaterZ/Petaya Gren, so just clarifying that part), Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, and Heatran. The remaining SpA EVs and Choice Specs maximize Hoopa-U's damage output. A faster spread of 148 HP / 184 Def / 4 SpA / 176 Spe with a Timid nature can be run to outspeed Tapu Fini and Adamant Gyarados while living a Dragon Dance boosted Waterfall from Mega Gyarados. However, this frailer set cannot live a hit from a Garchomp or Incineroar.

Usage Tips
========

Hoopa-U has an outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him against faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja and using the appropriate move to get rid of them is the best play.(Rephrase this part to make it look like you didn't shoplift it from previous set) STAB Dark Pulse in addition with STAB allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage and OHKO Ghost-, and Psychic-type pokemon such as Mew and Aegislash. Using it to hit Pokemon affected by it neutrally, like Heatran and Volcanion, helps in these matchups as well. Hoopa-U is also a great stall answer beating common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-Speed, and Mew. CanIt can also beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hoopa-U'sif Hoopa-U has Hyperspace Hole that ignores,since it bypasses Substitute. Choice Specs Hoopa-U is a great Water-type answer because of Thunderbolt or Grass Knot, beating Mega Swampert and Mega Gyarados, however, Mega Gyarados can beat Hoopa-U with either a flinch or high damage rolls though unreliable. Furthermore, the slower Hoopa-U spread loses to Tapu Fini, so be careful around it. (Again, mention an example or two, preferably non-repetitive, where you won't want the user to bring Hoopa-U)

Team Options
========

Choice Specs Hoopa-U is great at dealing with Ground-types such as Garchomp, Zygarde, and Jolly variants of Landorus-T,and so, partnering it with a Pokemon who struggle with these like Steel-type Pokemon such as Heatran and Magearna,(RC) would be appreciated. At the same time, these Steel-type Pokemon deal with the Fairy-types Hoopa-U struggle with such as Gardevoir and Tapu LeleTapu Lele and Mega Gardevoir. Choice Specs Hoopa-U has no tool to deal with Fairy-types such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, andTapu Lele, alongside Mega Mawile, Magearna, and Mega Gardevoir(You need not mention every viable Fairy-type Hoopa-U cannot beat; just one or two examples would suffice). Pairing Hoopa-U with Salazzle or Jirachi who deals,which can deal with these Pokemon quite well,(AC) is appreciated. At the same time, (AC)Hoopa-U deals with the Water-types Salazzle and Jirachi struggle with such as Mega Gyarados and Mega Swampert. Despite having different tools from its Choice Band set,(You're supposed to write one set without referencing the other) Hoopa-U still fails to beat some of 1v1's strongest Pokemon such as both Mega Charizard forms, Dragonite, and Magearna. Garchomp, Heatran, and Mega Altaria, whowhich deals with most of them helpsare suitable teammates, and appreciates Hoopa-U to deal with stall Pokemon such as Mega Slowbro and Mew which they can't. Hoopa-U is also great at bluffing sets and baiting. Its Choice Specs set is great at baiting Mega Gyarados, while its Choice Band set bait Primarina and Tapu Fini. Having at least one physical attacking Pokemon and a special attacking Pokemon makes the opponent question as to what set Hoopa-U could be running. (This doesn't directly help cover any weakness, which is what this section should aim at doing, or so I think)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hoopa-U can run a Scarf set to outspeed Pokemon that would otherwise just OHKO it. Pokemon such aslike Mega Gardevoir, Choice Specs Genesect, and Kartana. This set however sacrifices Hoopa-U's overall damage output. Sacrificing the Primarina and Mega Slowbro matchups.against bulkier Pokemon like Primarina and Mega Slowbro. A Darkinium Z set with two Dark-type movesattacks(since the third move you suggested, Taunt, is also a Dark-type move, I thought it would be better to categorize the first two as attacks), one physical and one special, and access to Taunt allows Hoopa-U to reliably beat Pokemon that uses Reflect and Light Screen such as Serperior, and allows Hoopa-U to dictate which defensive side it should deal with. P, powering(AC) Hyperspace Fury into a physical Black Hole Eclipse for physically weak Pokemon such as Nihilego and Araquanid and turning Dark Pulse into a special Black Hole Eclipse for specially weak Pokemon such as Rhyperior. This however sacrifices Gunk Shot and therefore loses to Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu. A quite niche move to run is Skill Swap. Swapping with Dragonite's Multiscale to live a move and OHKO in return with Ice Punch. Swapping with Crustle or Magnezone's Sturdy to live at 1hp and OHKO in return with a Z-move., which can Skill Swap abilities like Multiscale, Unaware and Sturdy from Pokemon like Dragonite, Quagsire, and Crustle. It's a set designed to catch people off guard, but it only truly works in specific matchups. Hoopa-U can run a bulky Psychium Z set with Reflect, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse and Psychic to reliably beat Porygon-Z and beat, Donphan and Golem, h. However, it struggles to beat the Ground-types the Choice Specs set beat and the Fairy-types such as Tapu Lele and Tapu Bulu that the Choice Band set deals with.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky physical attackers**: Because of Hoopa-U's low dDefense stat, Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, and Dragonite, whoich all can live a hit from Hoopa-U and can proceed to 2HKO Hoopa-U.

**Fast nukes**: Hoopa-U is not the fastest mon around, Pokemon like Mega Charizard Y, Kartana, and Archeops just outspeeds and beat Hoopa-U with their highest damaging move.

**Certain Fairy-types**: Despite being able to beat common Fairy-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu, Hoopa-U still fails to beat Magearna, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gardevoir because they're either immune to Gunk Shot or is faster and OHKO Hoopa-U.

**Sturdy**: Hoopa-U lacks the right utility to reliably beat all Pokemon with Sturdy. Donphan, Golem, and Crustle simply uses their Z-moves to OHKO Hoopa-U

**Bug-types**: Genesect and Volcarona, who Hoopa-U can't hit super effectively, and all run a Bug move,(AC) simply OHKOs Hoopa-U with its x4 weakness to Bug

Hoopa-U has an With Hoopa-U's outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him bringing it against faster but frail special attackers like Naganadel and Nihilego and using getting rid of them with Hyperspace Fury to get rid of them is the best play. STAB Dark Pulse in addition with STAB allows Hoopa-U to deal massive amounts of damage to neutral targets like Heatran and Volcanion (next sentence fit rly awkward and afaik this is what you mean?) and OHKO Ghost-, and Psychic-type Pokemon such as Mew and Aegislash. Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB, unique to Hoopa-U, and attack that allows Hoopa-U to ignore Protect and Substitute. However, the move has a slight drawback as it reduces Hoopa-U's defense stat. Despite that the Defense drop, (not sure how this is related) Hyperspace Fury helps Hoopa-U beat SubSeed users like Jumpluff (RC) and deal massive damage to Psychic-type Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Meloetta, and Deoxys-Speed. Gunk Shot helps lets Hoopa-U beat Fairy-type Pokemon like Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Lele. However, its The move however has a 20% miss chance that shouldn't be overlooked. Hoopa-U has an With Hoopa-U's outstanding base Special Defense, bringing him bringing it against faster but frail special attackers like Naganadel and Nihilego and using getting rid of them with Hyperspace Fury to get rid of them is the best play. Using Use the appropriate move against slower Pokemon who that are weak to Hoopa-U's attacks such as Mega Heracross, Tapu Bulu, (AC) and Aegislash easily deal with them. Additionally, Kommo-o, a Pokemon who has a with higher base Speed than Hoopa-U, normally doesn't run that much Speed, allowing Hoopa-U to simply outspeed it and defeat it with Zen Headbutt. However, despite Hoopa-U's aptitude at dealing with Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini, Tapu Lele however can get tricky, as it can use Z-Reflect means that and Hoopa-U would have to land two of its Gunk Shots, and as Hyperspace Fury cannot 2HKO through it. Against Mega Swampert, who which uses Yawn to its advantage, where you could either use Hyperspace Fury on its Yawn and ignore to attack through Protect, (AC) or use Zen Headbutt as it simply uses Earthquake turn 1, (AC) because Earthquake can OHKO Hoopa-U after the Defense drop on from Hyperspace Fury. Against Serperior, use Hyperspace Fury when it uses Substitute or Leech Seed to 2HKO it; (SC) however, use Gunk Shot on a Leaf Storm so you can OHKO it before it 2HKOs 2HKOes Hoopa-U.

=============

Hoopa-U can run a bulky Psychium Z set with Reflect, Calm Mind, Dark Pulse, and Psychic to reliably beat Porygon-Z, (AC) and beat Donphan, (AC) and Golem; however, it struggles to beat the Ground-types the Choice Specs set beats and the Fairy-types such as Tapu Lele and Tapu Bulu that the Choice Band set deals with.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Despite Hoopa-U's ability to beat common Fairy-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Tapu Bulu, it still fails to beat Magearna, Mega Mawile, and Mega Gardevoir, (RC) because they're either immune to Gunk Shot or are faster and OHKO Hoopa-U.

**Sturdy**: Hoopa-U lacks the right utility to reliably beat all Pokemon with Sturdy. Donphan, Golem, and Crustle can simply uses their Z-Moves to OHKO Hoopa-U.

**Bug-types**: Genesect and Volcarona, which Hoopa-U can't hit super effectively and all run a Bug-type move, simply OHKO Hoopa-U.

[OVERVIEW]

Hoopa-U is a premier Dark / Psychic Pokemon of 1v1, with only two weaknesses to Fairy and Bug and an immunity to Psychic, and is gifted with amazing offensive stats and coverage moves. Because of its high offensive stats, Hoopa-U can run physical, special, and mixed sets, that leaving the opponent bewildered to what set it could be running and letting it break walls such as Celesteela, and defeat stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro and Deoxys-S(Space)before they can even set up. It's Its Dark typing also grants Hoopa-U an immunity to Prankster-boosted status moves, letting it easily beat Whimsicott. However, Hoopa-U's lackluster physical bulk leaves it easily killed KOed by Pokemon faster than it or bulky hard hitters like Mega Charizard X, Dragonite, and Landorus-T. Its ability, Magician, has little to no use in the 1v1 format. Hoopa-U's 4x weakness to Bug shouldn't be ignored either, allowing Bug-types like Genesect and Volcarona to simply OHKO Hoopa-U it. Fairy also is one of the most common offensive types, and Pokemon such as Magearna and Mega Mawile, which are both immune to Gunk Shot, and Mega Gardevoir, which simply outspeeds Hoopa-U, all easily deal with it.

Moves
========

Hyperspace Fury is a very powerful Dark-type STAB attack that allows Hoopa-U to ignore Protect and Substitute; however, the move has a slight drawback, (AC) as it reduces Hoopa-U's Defense stat. Fire Punch is used to beat foes that are x4 4x weak to it like Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor; however, it cannot get rid of Kartana because it simply outspeeds and nukes Hoopa-U.

Set Details
========

The given HP EVs and Defense EVs let Hoopa-U take a Meteor Mash from non-Adamant Mega Metagross. Its high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Tapu Lele, Greninja, and Heatran, specifically allowing Hoopa-U to take a Hydro Cannon from a Modest Choice Specs Greninja with the given HP investment. 216 Speed EVs allow Hoopa-U to outspeed Adamant Mega-Heracross Mega Heracross, and the remaining Attack EVs and Choice Band maximize Hoopa-U's damage output, allowing it to secure kills KOs on bulky Fairy-types such as Primarina and Tapu Fini.

Usage Tips
========

With Hoopa-U's outstanding base Special Defense, bringing it against faster but frail special attackers like Naganadel and Nihilego and getting rid of them with Hyperspace Fury is the best play. Use the appropriate move against slower Pokemon that are weak to Hoopa-U's attacks such as Mega Heracross, Tapu Bulu, (AC) and Aegislash. Against Mega Swampert, which uses Yawn, (AC) either use either Hyperspace Fury on its Yawn to attack through the Protect, or use Zen Headbutt as it uses Earthquake turn 1 because Earthquake can OHKO Hoopa-U after the Defense drop on Hyperspace Fury.

========

Despite being able to beat certain Fairy-types, Hoopa-U still can't cover all of them; Mega Mawile and Magearna are immune to Gunk Shot, while Mega Gardevoir is simply faster and OHKOes with a Pixilate-(AH)boosted Hyper Beam. Hoopa-U is also 4x weak to Bug. Pair it with Fire-type Pokemon like Mega Charizard X, (RC) or Heatran, which as they cover both Bug-types and the Fairy-types Hoopa-U fails to beat. In return, Hoopa-U is able to take out Water-type Pokemon like Primarina and Mega Slowbro, which they typically struggle with.

Moves
========

Thunderbolt allows Hoopa-U to notably beat Mega Gyarados and beat Celesteela more reliably than Dark Pulse. Alternatively, Hoopa-U can run Hyperspace Hole; although it inflicts less damage than Psychic, (AC) it does bypass Protect and Substitute, allowing it to beat Jumpluff and making the Whimsicott matchup much easier.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP EVs and Defense EVs investment allows Hoopa-U to take a boosted Waterfall from Dragon Dance Mega Gyarados, a Tectonic Rage from Garchomp, and a Fake Out plus Malicous Malicious Moonsault from bulky Incineroar, while it's its high Special Defense stat already allows it to naturally tank special hits from Greninja, Choice Scarf Porygon-Z, and Heatran.

Usage Tips
========

Because of its naturally high base Special Defense, Hoopa-U is great at handling faster special attackers like Naganadel and Greninja. (Changed the order to match the order of types listed) Hoopa-U is also a great answer to common stall Pokemon like Mega Slowbro, Deoxys-S, and Mew, and is it can also beat certain sleep users such as Jumpluff and Vivillon because of Hyperspace Hole ignoring Substitute.

Choice Specs Hoopa-U is great at dealing with Ground-types such as Garchomp, Zygarde, and Jolly Landorus-T, so partnering it with a Steel-type Pokemon such as Heatran and Magearna, (RC) would be appreciated.
