Something Worth Fighting For
[OVERVIEW]
Hypno differentiates itself from Audino, the most common Wish passer, with its Psychic typing and extensive support movepool Audino could only dream of, including Seismic Toss, Taunt, and Foul Play. However, Hypno also gives up Regenerator and is weak to Knock Off, which is quite detrimental considering that the types of teams Hypno wants to fit on usually include several Eviolite users such as Munchlax, Clefairy, and Vullaby. Furthermore, several of the Fighting-types such as Monferno and Combusken that Hypno wants to check more commonly run physical sets than special ones. Monferno in particular is nearly impossible for Hypno to check considering it's faster and commonly carries U-turn. These attributes make Audino much more consistent than Hypno at Wish passing. In extremely rare moments, however, Hypno can still shine as a Wish passer due to its above average bulk and key Fighting resistance.

Moves
========
Wish in combination with Protect allows Hypno to restore not only its own health but also the health of its teammates. Protect also gives Hypno additional Leftovers recovery and forces badly poisoned foes to take extra poison damage. Psychic is Hypno's strongest and most reliable STAB option, hitting Pokemon such as Combusken, Monferno, and Arbok super effectively. Alternatively, Seismic Toss ignores Hypno's subpar, uninvested Special Attack, dealing fixed damage to foes such as Bronzor and Clefairy that would take relatively little from Psychic. Taunt shuts down passive threats such as Bronzor and Audino. On the other hand, Toxic puts foes such as Stunfisk and Bouffalant on a timer, slowly draining away their health, while Foul Play gives Hypno counterplay options against physical attackers and wallbreakers such as Dusknoir and Stoutland.
Set Details
========
Maximum HP and Special Defense EVs alongside a Calm nature allow Hypno to check special attackers such as Combusken and Tangela. Insomnia prevents Hypno from being put to sleep by common sleep inducers such as Smeargle, Jumpluff, and Tangela. Leftovers grants Hypno access to passive recovery, allowing it to avoid having to use Wish as often and gain additional recovery when following up Wish with Protect. On the other hand, a Colbur Berry ensures Hypno is able to survive at least one Dark-type attack from Pokemon such as Cacturne, Leafeon, and Pawniard.
Usage Tips
========
Hypno should switch into special attackers such as Zebstrika, Combusken, and Articuno and try to cripple them with attacks and poison. Hypno should utilize Wish in combination with Protect to keep itself at a sustainable amount of health so that it can continue to check the Pokemon it needs to check. One should also evaluate if Hypno is healthy enough to pass a Wish to one of its teammates, taking entry hazards and status into account. Be wary of Knock Off users such as Leafeon and Dodrio, especially if Hypno opts to utilize Leftovers over a Colbur Berry.
Team Options
========
Switch-ins to Knock Off such as Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL and Carbink are extremely beneficial for Hypno and its teammates. Gourgeist-XL and Hypno also happen to make a decent defensive core together. Entry hazard removal from Rapid Spin users such as Cryogonal and Defog users such as Vullaby and Vibrava can help ensure Hypno's overall longevity. Cleric support from Pokemon such as Heal Bell Altaria and Aromatherapy Roselia can alleviate status for Hypno and its teammates. Bulky sweepers that enjoy the Fighting and Psychic resistances Hypno provides, such as Munchlax and Muk, make for great teammates.

Other Options
=============
A physically defensive EV spread with a Bold nature could theoretically improve Hypno's matchup against physical attackers. However, PU has far too many physical attackers to account for, and Hypno cannot sufficiently check all of them on its own. Additionally, even with a physically defensive spread, Hypno still loses to the majority of Knock Off users one-on-one. Bulkier, more specially offensive sets utilizing either Nasty Plot or Calm Mind face fierce competition with Beheeyem, which has access to Recover, Analytic, and much higher Special Attack. Belly Drum sets utilizing Zen Headbutt and Drain Punch might seem to make sense on a physically attacking Psychic-type; however, Hypno misses out on hitting opposing Psychic-types and has a relatively low Attack and Speed stats to try to pull off this endeavor.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Bronzor, Probopass, and Metang are immune to Toxic and take next to no damage from Hypno's Psychic. However, all of them have fairly low HP stats and lack reliable recovery options, leaving them susceptible to Seismic Toss.
**Dark-types**: Dark-types such as Cacturne and Krokorok can muscle past Hypno's defensive capabilities with a super effective STAB attack, although Colbur Berry Hypno is slightly harder to defeat. Pawniard is especially notable for its Steel typing giving it an immunity to Toxic.
**Other Knock Off Users**: Other prominent Knock Off users such as Leafeon and Dodrio can also severely dent Leftovers variants of Hypno.
**Ghost-types**: Offensive Ghost-types such as Nasty Plot Misdreavus and Choice Band Trevenant can hit Hypno super effectively with their STAB attacks. Foul Play deals a lot of damage back to Dusknoir, however.
**Wallbreakers**: Wallbreakers such as Rampardos, Ursaring, and Choice Specs Beheeyem can OHKO or 2HKO Hypno, while the best thing Hypno can do back is hit them with Foul Play if it happens to have it.
