SV OU I WILL SURVIVE !! (pawmot/hatterene) 1950+RANK 19

Hi everyone, I wanted to share the team i use for the Ladder Challenge held by the TrainerAid discord. See the post here https://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/ladder-challenges-cash-prize.3730599/post-10572139.

The goal was to bring Revival Blessing Pawmot :Pawmot: to 1950Elo on the OU ladder.

Here is the team https://pokepast.es/85d47ac94033ef3b. :pawmot: :hatterene: :kingambit: :landorus-therian: :kyurem: :iron moth:

It looks like the team create by Vk but with a lot of differences in the set https://pokepast.es/1b4fb2ac5abe5420, common offensive core x)

pawmot proof.png

Teambuilding process :
The main idea of the team is to to revive our offensive mon with both revival blessing and healing wish. The combination of these two move in one team give us a new way to play the game. You will not search to keep your ressources, or keep a mon alive. Instead, you will try to win with the grind that provides both of these move. It's not the best team, or a team that beat every top metagame build, but it was good enought to go to top 20 and it's also very fun to use thanks to this unconventional way of thinking your gameplan

:pawmot: First of all, the condition to met the challenge ! This pokemon has an interesting typing, decent speed (base 105), and two really interesting ability. I first try a support set with volt absorb + encore. Giving us momentum against mon that can use electric type move such as :zapdos: or :raging bolt: and also giving us a way to encore :kingambit: in lategame. But at the other hand this pokemon is really frail, 70 70 60 makes this mon pretty weak to all offensive move in the tier. So I quickly change to an offensive support mon with his second talent : Iron Fist. Iron fist give us a 1.2x boost on fist move such as mach punch or ice punch. With double shock a 120bp electric move, you gain access to BoltBeam making him touch almost all the tier.

252 Atk Iron Fist Pawmot Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Darkrai: 158-188 (56.2 - 66.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO :darkrai:
252 Atk Life Orb Iron Fist Pawmot Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Kingambit: 317-380 (92.9 - 111.4%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO with LO :kingambit:
252 Atk Iron Fist Pawmot Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Landorus-Therian: 392-464 (102.6 - 121.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO :landorus-therian:
252 Atk Iron Fist Pawmot Ice Punch vs. 244 HP / 36 Def Gliscor: 292-344 (82.9 - 97.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Poison Heal :gliscor:

Even if he acts as a support mon that can revive our teamates, it can also become a potent breaker against some teams that lacks electric resistance. Tera electric gave us a second boost on double shock and also keep our eletric type after the attack making double shock a 120bp spammable move.

252 Atk Tera Electric Pawmot Double Shock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gholdengo: 250-296 (79.3 - 93.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Tera Electric Pawmot Double Shock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Dragapult: 153-180 (48.2 - 56.7%) -- 89.1% chance to 2HKO

He pretty much okhos all water type mon, and can 2hko pretty much all offensive mon in the tier.

For the item: I go for Leppa berry :leppa berry: giving us a second revival blessing which is pretty much needed in this team. Our goal is to break the opposing team even by sacrifing our offensive mon to get them revive after. It's a completely new way of thinking and playing at pokemon. This team is not about keeping our ressources but to launch everything and then choose who to revive for the endgame. Life orb :life orb: is also an option making pawmot a potent wallbreaker that outspeed :great tusk: :landorus-therian: :kyurem:

:kingambit: fainted, reviving ? Yeah our Supreme overlord guy is the best way to enjoy Pawmot ability to revive things. First I will answer some questions

Does Kingambit faiting count goes up to 6 or 7 ?

No, it didnt show in game, so it might be a limit.

Does Kingambit faiting count goes up to 5 even if we revive ?
Yes, Kingambit faiting count can go up to 5 even if you have 2 or 3 pokemon left thanks to revival pawmot. So you can have gambit at full power before losing all his teammates.

I will not really go into details for Gambit, we play him as fast as possible, to outspeed common answer such as :corviknight: and pokemon that will be paralysed with our :hatterene:. Ghost tera typing give us an anti spin mon and also a way to beat both :great tusk: and :zamazenta:. Also ghost gambit is one of the best answer to :dragonite: which is one of the most scariest mon in the tier. Sucker and kowtow are both main stab and iron head give us an answer to kyurem or fairy type such as :iron valiant: or :clefable: to name some

Gambit will be the mon that you will be tera the most of the time. So keep the tera as long as possible or use it immediatly against team that only use :zamazenta: or :great tusk: as a dark resistance. You can sacrifice gambit for them and then revive him later in the game. Leftovers :leftovers: provides more staying power for kingambit give us also a way to switch in against common threat like :gholdengo: or :dragapult: (without WoW)

:hatterene: Our second revive mon on the team. Fun fact, you can sometimes revive hatt and then healing wish to fully heal a mon on your team as one of the replay shows. This mon is the glue of the team. It provides a lot, anti hazard, healing, can para threat and also checks a lot of pokemon. 252/124+ gave us a pokemon that can take ont hit from strong pokemon such as :ogerpon-wellspring: or proto atk :great tusk:

252 Atk Wellspring Mask Tera Water Ogerpon-Wellspring-Tera Ivy Cudgel vs. 252 HP / 124+ Def Hatterene: 208-246 (65.4 - 77.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Protosynthesis Great Tusk Headlong Rush vs. 252 HP / 124+ Def Hatterene: 214-253 (67.2 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

It can punish potential threat by just nuzzle or kill them with dazzing or psychic noise. The combination of her stabs gave also a way to safely get rid of :garganacl: and helps against bulkier team by preventing opposing mon to heal. With :landorus-therian: she can pretty easily come against common hazards setter : :great tusk: landorus-therian: :ting-lu: :gliscor: :ribombee:. Be careful against :iron treads: :tinkaton: :araquanid:.

And then healing wish. This move is broken on this team. Sometimes you can revive :hatterene: just for an other healing wish. This move completely heal a mon that tooks damage and his status condition. It can also act as an emmergency pivot move. You can healing once you see hatterene is useless and gain the heal latter. Healing wish activates only on a mon that took or have a status condition. Yeah, you can go to one of your healty mon and wait before healing on of your mon depeding on the situation. This is the most important move in this team. You need to think hard of the mon you wants to fully heal. Leftovers :leftovers: is here for long game potential and more staying power

:landorus-therian:, our boy is still good after all these years. Classic defensive rocks setter, with full speed to be able to outspeed :great tusk: and be able to tie with other lando in case you need to taunt to prevent hazards (not really optimal but sometimes it can help). We play earth power because you wants to deal a maximum amount of damage against both :great tusk: :zamazenta: and even :pecharunt: or curse/IronPress :garganacl:. Rocky helmet :rocky helmet: punish commons u-turn/spin or other contact move.

Tera Water give us a one ticket check to :ogerpon-wellspring:. Without intimidate, Ogerpon can just spam her stab and knock out the entire team. U-turn allow us to have an emergency u-turn that will do 50% of :ogerpon-wellspring: life. Making here in range of sucker punch from :kingambit: (:iron moth: doesnt count if your opponent didnt tera yet)

:kyurem: The second breaker of the team. Mr. Freeze is our best friend against fat/stallish team with both ice move. Freeze dry + icicle spear gave us to be able to set up and also outbreak common unaware mon such as :dondozo:. It is also a move that can OKHO both :ogerpon-wellspring: and :pelipper:. It is also a way to break :rotom-wash: even with a potential burn

4 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Ogerpon-Wellspring: 396-468 (131.5 - 155.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO :ogerpn-wellspring:
4 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 248 HP / 36 SpD Pelipper: 484-576 (149.8 - 178.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO :pelipper:
4 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Dondozo: 270-318 (53.5 - 63%) -- guaranteed 2HKO :dondozo:
4 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 180-212 (59.2 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery :rotom-wash:

As last, I use Ground tera blast to get rid of annoying mon like :cinderace: or :iron moth:. It also deals against :gholdengo: :kingambit: and steel type overall. Ground fits better here because it also provides an immunity against :raging bolt: Big Neck, an other tera would have make the team weaker to that.
Adamant nature allows us to also be able to 2HKO unaware :clefable: and :corviknight: after the rocks damage (5hits icicle spear for the calc)

4 SpA Kyurem Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Rotom-Wash: 180-212 (59.2 - 69.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery :rotom-wash:
252+ Atk Kyurem Icicle Spear (5 hits) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Clefable: 200-240 (50.7 - 60.9%) -- approx. 99% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery :clefable:

I choose lonely instead of naughty because it gave us a way to survive an hit against :iron valiant: without close combat. Loaded dice :loaded dice: maximise the power of icicle spear making spear a potential 100 125BP move. Icicle spear is also a way to play around multiscale :dragonite:

252 SpA Iron Valiant Moonblast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Kyurem: 320-380 (81.8 - 97.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. :iron valiant:

:iron moth: the last pokemon of the team. It acts as a potential cleaner and an offensive check against fairy type :iron valiant: :enamorus: and utility with toxic spikes. Booster :booster energy: gave moth a decent speed and act as a form of speed control in this team. Both stabs + dazzing allows moth to touch almost all pokemon in the format. Tera fairy is choose to gain on stab on dazzing allowing us to deal more damage on :zamazenta: for example. It also give Moth a resistance against sucker punch from :kingambit:

132 SpA Tera Fairy Iron Moth Dazzling Gleam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Zamazenta: 228-270 (58.7 - 69.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery the tera give us a clean 2hko. :zamazenta:

As a last move, I choose toxic spikes. It helps a lot against HO/BO match up that can sometimes be hard to deal with. Against sticky (without :pecharunt: or :iron moth), it will be the most important move to do in early game. Sometimes I even lead with :iron moth: to prevent :ninetails-alola) to put screen and to set my toxic spikes really quickly.

Quick advices:

This team is an auto win condition against stall. You just cant lose against. Sorry StallCord enjoyer :/. The team can works against everything. The most dangerous mon for the team are :hawlucha: and :quaquaval: so it should not be that hard to grind with.
:cinderace: This is the most annoying mon for the team i think. Can court change your hazard, burn your gambit, and is faster than our entire team (besides boost moth). You need to chip it quickly, even in :kingambit: get burn or lose a pokemon. Tera ground :kyurem: is also very an immediate option to deal with.

:tinkaton: :iron treads: Both really annoying setter, you will need to go quickly on moth and play around them. Also you will accept to deal with rocks for the rest of the game.

:slowking-galar: toxic spikes immunity, pivoting, damage.... Yeah this mon is hard, but you can always go to gambit and punish gking answer. Most of the time gking pairs well with :moltres: :zapdos: and :great tusk:. So keep both :kingambit: and :kyurem: healthy until you start to break. You can just sacrifice then and revive then later

:zapdos: :moltres: same advice, but harder to switch into, pawmot can threaten moltres and cant be para by zapdos, you can cheap then before switching out. Sometimes i just let my gambit para and set up on Zapdos to obtain the kill befire healing back my gambit.

Hope you will enjoy the team !!!

Congrats on the peak! As someone who's been using Pawmot for awhile for my own team (Made my own RMT on it recently) it's cool seeing how others build around Revival Blessing, Healing Wish is a nasty pairing with it.
I just realize you're the guy using the mono elec with ice scale guys. Nice team you made.
