Inheritance

Any Pokemon in the metagame can "inherit" the moves and ability from a certain Pokemon. It has to inherit both the moves and the ability. You may only use the moves and ability from that Pokemon, so you lose your own (Unless you choose to inherit your own moves/ability). The game will just check if there's any Pokemon with it as a legal combination.

Rules

Mechanic:
Any Pokemon can inherit any Pokemon's movepool and abilities.

Clauses: OU clauses, Donor Clause (see below)

Bans:
Pokemon
:chansey:Chansey
Chansey was a major contributor to the overcentralization of stall in the metagame even in the absence of Cresselia - its massive special bulk with Eviolite allowed it to check special breakers and setup sweepers alike with its Sableye set. Chansey's ability to blanket check virtually every special attacker was deemed unhealthy and as a result Chansey was banned via suspect.

Cresselia
Cresselia was banned due to its overwhelming bulk, which allowed it to check 80% of the metagame with its Unaware set inheriting from Swoobat alone. Other sets like Prankster Haze from Murkrow and Magic Bounce from Xatu allowed it the versatility to pick and choose what it checked and what it was checked by. The metagame lacked consistent ways to break and punish Cresselia, so it was quickbanned.
Blacephalon
Blacephalon was banned because its offensive presence was too much for the metagame. Its set inheriting from Torkoal was almost impossible to switch into due to the massive power of Sun-boosted Eruption (which could be further boosted by Choice Specs). This was so oppressive that teams were practically forced to run either Flash Fire or Guzzlord on every team, and Blacephalon still had the tools to work around these checks. Blacephalon made the meta very overcentralized around itself, resulting in it being quickbanned.

Gyarados-Mega
Hoopa-Unbound
Kartana
Kyurem-Black
Kyurem-Black's issues in standard play are a thing of the past in Inheritance as it can inherit from multiple Pokemon, such as Dragonite and Aurorus, forcing the metagame to adapt to such a volatile and unpredictable threat is just asking for the meta to become very stale very quickly.
Regigigas
This is in a similar boat as Slaking since it has 670 BST and a horrible ability, all while having a more even spread of bulk with 110/110/110 defenses and being able to get rid of its ability, which is the only thing really holding it back, is enough for me to quickban this before it gets out of hand.
Shedinja
Shedinja inheriting from Donphan (or any mon with Sturdy) makes this a very annoying Pokemon as it becomes similar to Sturdinja from BH and, in the case of Donphan, has access to Endeavor and priority to take out any mon with ease. While status, entry hazards, or weather would get rid of this with ease, it would in turn centralize the meta around these three things just to keep it in check and as such this is ban from being an inheritor.
Slaking
With its massive 670 BST, great physical presence with base 160 Attack and base 100 Speed, and decent 150/100/65 bulk, all while being able to get rid of Truant allows this to become a massive threat..so much so, that I figured a quickban for this was in order.

Abilities
Arena Trap
Imposter
Huge/Pure Power
Speed Boost
Water Bubble
Innards Out

Moves
Assist
Baton Pass
Chatter
Shell Smash

Donor Clause
• You cannot inherit from banned Pokemon
• No two Pokemon on your team may inherit from the same evolutionary line. The purpose of this rule is to encourage diversity, not to ban broken things.
You cannot Inherit from Slowbro and Slowpoke on the same team
You can Inherit from Slowbro and Slowking on the same team
You cannot Inherit from Rotom-Wash and Rotom-Mow on the same team
You can Inherit from Vaporeon and Jolteon on the same team

In addition, the following may not be Donors:
Smeargle
Smeargle having access to any move due to Sketch means any mon inheriting from it will have access to any move which is no good as it would cause a chaotic mess and be absolutely broken and therefore inheriting from Smeargle will be banned in SM Inheritiance.

Murkrow
Murkrow gives a huge number of support moves, most notably Haze, as well as a phenomenal ability in Prankster. This gave defensive Pokemon unparalleled flexibility and potency while contributing to the overcentralization of stall in the metagame. As a result, Murkrow was suspected and banned as a donor.

Unbans: None yet!

Strategy:

With the ability to inherit from any Pokemon, a lot of Pokemon can use their typing and stats coupled with another mon's movepool and abilities and become even better than before. Suicune inheriting from Quagsire allows it to be a very solid stop to setup sweepers with Unaware + Recover while it could inherit from Masquerain to become a massive threat on its own with Intimidate + Quiver Dance + STAB Hydro Pump alongside decent coverage moves in Ice Beam, Shadow Ball, and so on. Essentially, there are so many combinations for players to discover, leaving a lot of room to explore in this metagame.

Q&A:

Q:
Where is this playable?
A: Thanks to Spandan it is playable on DragonHeaven!

Additional Rules / Clarifications:
- The game will just check if there's any Pokemon with it as a legal combination.
- Donor Reveal: The donor will display as a Pokemon switches in.
- You can only inherit from OU Pokemon and below. e.g. Keldeo -> Primal Kyogre or Camerupt -> Primal Groudon are illegal (unless the Uber is unbanned)
- You may not inherit from Mega Evolutions (although you can still inherit from Pokemon that have a Mega Evolution).
- Mega Evolutions lose their inherited ability upon Mega-Evolving.

Oh boi, second best meta is here.

Time to introduce the one and only greatest mon in gen7, taking over every OM, the Bewear.

There's no need to be original when you can just take the best sets from last gen, and make them better with DA BEAR.

Bewear @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Facade

Dat sweet sweet dual stab adapt is gonna do sweet damage fam.

Anyway I just wanted to post anything cause I'm excited for inheritance.
OMoTM for sure.

Kartana @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Smart Strike

Be ready for Wood Hammer boosted by Grassy Terrain + Choice Band coming from 181 Attack!!! That's all I need to say :^)

Xurkitree @ Choice Scarf/Specs
Ability: Electric Terrain
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Grass Knot

This also have Thunderbolt/Volt Switch boosted by Electric Terrain from 173 SpA. That's all :^)

Pheromosa @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator/Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk/ 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off/Poison jab/Fake Out

Choose one. A strong af HJK or an attacker/scout that doesn't care about LO recoil. Either way, Marowak-Alola can no longer wall this.

Ohey, this exists.

Why is araquanid banned? It's really weak. There are no good physical water types, except maybe feraligatr, and on special attackers rain boosted hydro pump is barely weaker than surf (and stronger than scald), not to mention how much better how a movepool, say, Pelliper has over araquanid with recovery, hurricane, pivoting and defog. I mean, it might be the best pick for some pokemon (Like specs water types that don't value pivoting or w/e), but I'm not seeing the quickban.

Similarly, I feel that we should really be able to inherit from ubers. I understand the logic behind it -- ie, you can only inherit from pokemon you can use in OU -- but from a mechanics standpoint it's a bit more confusing. If you can inherit moves and abilities from pokemon, why does the pol exactly match out tiers? Besides, smogon tier list exists only exists to create a balanced metagame, and since most of them are banned for their stats I don't see what they are even getting around. As far as ubers go, the only ones that are at all concerning are Kyogre/primal, Lunala, Xerneas, and zygarde from zygarde-c.

Free Genesect.

Garchomp @ Choice Band
Ability: Stakeout
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Crunch
- Facade
or
Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Thousand Arrows
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed
Either a powerful choice band pivot from gumshoos, or a dangerous setup sweeper from zygarde. Thank goodness that Gumshoes has terrible coverage.

Kartana @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Stone Edge
Kartana's main flaw is lack of moves and poor stab, so why not give it a meaty 50% buff and a choice band? Only a very few pokemon can switch in.
Kartana @ Life Orb
Ability: Steelworker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip
- Anchor Shot
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake / Rock Slide
This, meanwhile, gives a 50% boost to steel moves, and gives acess to both stabs. While EQ isn't quite as good as Stone Edge+Superpower and Anchor Shot is weaker than Wood Hammer, it's still a very potent threat.

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
- Stockpile
Probably suboptimal, but it still seems annoying as all hell. This set inherits from Quagsire, and serves as an excellent physical wall to deal with the above.

sin(pi)

lucky n bad
Pinsir @ Pinsirite
Ability: Soul-Heart
Happiness: 0
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Frustration
- Brick Break
- Explosion / Iron Head
- Shift Gear

Are you ready to get swept?
Inherits from Magearna. Mmeta can do the same thing, as can Bewear lol. Unfortunately this is the extent of Mag's physical movepool...

Speaking of Magearna:
Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell
- Dazzling Gleam

Inherits from Audino.

I can't express how happy I am to see this meta coming back.

Unfortunately, you can no longer Inherit from megas :(

this seems pretty interesting but i was wondering, if something inherited disguise from mimikyu, would it fail since disguise is hard coded to only work for mimikyu?

Gonna dump sets.
Bewear (Garchomp) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- Superpower

Fluffy is great for setup, especially on things that resist Fire. Garchomp is one of several options.

Golem-Alola (Tapu Koko) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Galvanize
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Stealth Rock
- Explosion
- Toxic

Strong rocks lead.

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Aura Sphere
- Thunderbolt

Fast Fleur Cannons and a STAB Volt Switch.

Emolga (Celesteela) @ Leftovers
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Discharge
- Baton Pass

Electric-immune wall/pivot, cuz you know someone is gonna need this eventually.

Ninetales-Alola (Tapu Koko) @ Light Clay
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Aurora Veil
- Encore
- Blizzard

Aurora Veil setter for offense. It is fast and has a STAB.

Gliscor (Golisopod) @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Aqua Tail
- U-turn

This thing is bulkier than Skarmory and has loads more offensive presence. A great check to all things Zygarde.

Scrafty (Kommo-o) @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Outrage
- Poison Jab
- Dragon Dance

This is the only thing I think Kommo-O could actually do. FWIW it actually has a solid damage output.

Audino (Magearna) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Surf
- Flamethrower
- Psychic

Best Regenvest option for Magearna. Audino's weirdly good coverage lets it face up against Fire, Steel, and Poison-types respectively.

Gigalith (Nihilego) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Gravity / Filler

Sand-setting rocks lead. Gravity is a cool meme.

Magearna (Tapu Lele) @ Psychium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fleur Cannon
- Synchronoise
- Aura Sphere
- Dazzling Gleam / Volt Switch

Hear me out here. Reveal Fleur Cannon. Smart opponents think hey, Magearna doesn't get a Psychic-type move, my Poison-type can wall. Then KABOOM. Cool Poison-type lure if you have, like, something that gets hard-walled by Mega Venusaur in the back or something.

Togekiss (Celesteela) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave

- Nasty Plot

Xatu (Celesteela) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Roost
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn
- Air Slash

Giant magic-bounzing rocket plant child.

Starmie (Celesteela) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flash Cannon
- Scald
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

Bulky spinner.

Zygarde (Landorus-Therian) @ Normalium Z
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Thousand Arrows
- Extreme Speed
- Substitute

The details are up for grabs but What If Zygarde Had Immediate Offensive Presence is the premise here. Z-Espeed can help break non-Unaware Grass/Bug-types.
tl;dr

Tapu Koko is officially a utility lord.
Celesteela can do pretty much anything that gives it a STAB and a worthwhile ability.
Z-moves are gonna rock.

Flygon (Muk-Alola) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe (Spread can be changed)
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Roost/Defog/U-turn/Earthquake
- Roost/Defog/U-turn/Earthquake
Thanks to generation 7, we now have a second Pokemon with Dragon Dance + Levitate in Flygon. When Alolan Muk inherits from Flygon, it can Dragon Dance without having to worry about any weaknesses except for Mold Breaker and a Ground type move. It also inherits a good STAB in Crunch as your attacking move, and either Roost for self recovery, defog for team support, U-turn for momentum, and Earthquake as a strong coverage move. And don't laugh at it's low speed stat, as it can outspeed 252 +Speed Nature Tapu Koko after a Dragon Dance.

Sylveon.

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind / Amnesia
- Scald
- Iron Defense / Toxic
- Slack Off

Inheriting from Slowbro. Already has insane defenses but being able to set up on both sides of the spectrum and having one-Turn recovery just seals its fate as being annoying as hell. Also can switch out and get hp. Could run Toxic over Iron Defense to just mess with things trying to set up alongside.

- Drill Peck

This is somehow legal? OU's Evasion clause and Baton Pass Clause both seem to miss out on Acupressure, and the only (non-Smeargle) mon that gets both the Pass and the Press is our favorite three headed flightless bird. Other potential users of this set could be Umbreon or Gyarados-Mega with Knock Off, although it seems a waste of Mega Gyarados. Try to avoid hazers, Spectral Thievers (this isn't allowed yet right?), and Heart Swappers. Anyway there's ur meme of the day.

Hasty Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Play Rough
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Fire] / [Ground]

I tried to find the best abusers of Dazzling and Queenly Majesty I could. Both movepools are rather barren, but I think Tsareena's provides better moves in general, although Bruxish at least allows going special or physical. I see Pheromosa being a threat to watch out for, especially since this will be far from its only viable set.

Synchronoise only damages Pokemon that share the user's typing. That's why it's not used in standard.

And why is Kyurem-Black unbanned? Fixing its coverage issues is bad enough, but giving it good boosting options is even worse. I'd really rather not be forced into carrying Scarfchomp on every team to avoid the endless 6-0s that DD Kyurem inevitably forces.

Quick question: if inheriting from Araquanid is banned, I assume inheriting from Dewpider is as well? Might want to clear that up in the OP.

Inheriting from Bibarel is amazing now cause it has SD + Priority.

Gyarados @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Swords Dance
- Crunch
- Waterfall

It's pretty simple but effective, you can get a +4 in Attack then start breaking things down, and when an Unaware user tries to ruin your day you just go Mega and crunch 'em. What's even better is that once Gyarados goes Mega, its Aqua Jets cannot be stopped by Pokemon with Dazzling or Queenly Majesty, as it Mold Breaks straight through them. So your only hope is Psychic Terrain. And Mega Gyarados is immune to Psychic. It's the perfect combo.

Also this:

Eevee @ Eevium Z
Ability: Simple
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Last Resort
- Crunch
- Quick Attack
- Return

In one turn, +4 in all stats. Wew laddy. There are definitely more fearsome one-turn setup sweepers, but still. +4 in all stats. Amazing.

LATE EDIT: Simple doesn't actually double eevium boosts, so the above set is bogus.

LATE LATE EDIT: It actually does.

Would there be any good mons to inherit from persian-a?
Fur coat and parting shot seems like it could be good on some mons.
Or maybe even just from silvally because it would give decent coverage as well as parting shot.
Also, would hoopa-u inheriting from malamar work?
Being able to boost their attack and defense seems like it could help make hoopa even better
Inheriting from zoroark also seems neat thanks to illusion.
And inheriting from chatot could be neat too thanks to nasty plot, boomburst, and chatter.
Would silvally-normal be the only for that's allowed to inherit from other mons since it's type is based on its ability?

Can we quickban Arena Trap? Trapping on anything with decent stats has been shown to be cancerous time and time again in so many metas. Why let it stick around and complain about it for months when we could just ban it now?

Tapu Koko @ Life Orb
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tail Glow
- Thunderbolt
- Energy Ball
- Dazzling Gleam

Inherits from Xurkitree, the idea is to Tail Glow, get a kill, get a speed boost, and sweep. Pretty sweet. Watch out for Unaware and priority. I chose Tapu Koko to inherit because it has that nice 130 base speed.

Why are we banned from inheriting from ubers? It makes no sense to me on the surface since for the most part its their stats and typings combined with other factors that break ubers, not just abilities and movepools. Mew has a better movepool than basically any uber, other than maybe Arceus, why is it allowed but Dialga (lol) is not?
