Metagame Inheritance

Ended up theorymon'ing some more sets. Chandelure this time. Also, hopefully Inheritance gets fixed soon.

Noctowl (Chandelure) @ Heavy Duty Boots / Life Orb / Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute / Roost / Defog

Basically impossible to wall without a very specially bulky Unaware pokemon. You could run a Choice Specs set to break past those Unaware walls.

Clefable (Chandelure) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Calm Mind / Thunderbolt
- Soft Boiled / Substitute

MG + CM is annoying for bulkier teams to handle. Alternatively, Sub + 3 Attacks could work too. A similar Sheer Force + LO set could be used with Mawile, gaining access to Taunt as well, but is more prone to being worn down.

Rotom-Heat (Chandelure) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Nasty Plot

Levitate gets rid of its ground weakness, while gaining NP means it can afford to run HDBs while still being an effective breaker.

Shiftry (Chandelure) @ Life Orb / Heavy Duty Boots
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Heat Wave
- Shadow Ball
- Solar Beam / Giga Drain
- Nasty Plot

With sun support, this thing outspeeds and slices through offense. Against bulkier teams, it can simply set up a few NP boosts before sweeping. However, it is very prone to being worn down when carrying LO, and will get threatened out by anything with Sucker Punch.

Bonus theorymons:

Abomasnow (Mamoswine) @ Life Orb
Ability: Soundproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Ice Shard
- Swords Dance

At first you'd think this would be a meme, but ground type + soundproof actually lets it switch in on the otherwise scary Punk Rock Heliolisk. Mamoswine gets SD now so thats cool. A Synthesis + SD set might also work well. Abomasnow also gives Wood Hammer if bulky waters become too much a problem.

Steelix (Terrakion) @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Head Smash
- Earthquake
- Taunt
- Dragon Dance

STAB Head Smash with no recoil w/ ddance :D Has good EdgeQuake coverage, but no good fighting STAB from Steelix unfortunately. 80% acc from Head Smash can also be a killer. Ttar can also pull off the same set, notably getting a secondary STAB in Crunch.

Noctowl (Gardevoir) @ Life Orb / Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Moonblast
- Nasty Plot / Toxic
- Substitute / Roost / Future Sight

A NP set can be run with LO to pretty much singlehandedly dismantle defensive cores. Choice Specs with Future Sight could be a funny meme. Toxic is used on the Choice set to pressure specially defensive Unaware walls, though you could give up Sub or Roost for it on the NP set. A similar set could be used with Togekiss with Hurricane over Psychic.

ideas post
disclaimer: these probably suck

:Haxorus: (:excadrill:)
Haxorus (excadrill) @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
Mold Breaker lets it muscle past unaware users and beat levitate. Ddance setup is good, and Haxorus has really really good coverage. Probably better on something else like pult tho, but being super effective against pex is helpful

:drampa: (:seismitoad:)
Drampa (Seismitoad) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Defog
- Surf
- Roost
- Earthquake
Good bulk + no weaknesses + reliable recovery + Defog = sign me up. Drampa is a really good donor for anything that wants a grass immunity.

:lunatone: (:doublade:)
Lunatone (Doublade) @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Moonlight
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
Lunatone is a great donor for p much any steel type. I chose doublade for insane physical bulk and good attack, along with fighting immunity, but like anything works.

:maractus: (:Incineroar:)
Maractus (Incineroar) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Synthesis
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
for some reason maractus gets knock off and sucker punch??? I mean I guess but it makes a great donor for incin, giving it recovery, hazards, and a water immunity (which is important rn with arcto donor).

:Clefable: (:mandibuzz:)
Clefable (Mandibuzz) (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Teleport
Clefable is a great donor for so many things because of its massive Movepool and great abilities. Mandi is especially good because it can now afford to run an item other than boots, and it walls the common ghost types.

that’s it for now I might add more once the ladder works, as this is just theorymon rn.

How do items such as light ball work?
Items like Light Ball are coded to only work with their respective mons, so even if something inherits from Pikachu, Light Ball won't have an effect.

so this isn't a one-liner I thought of some other neat stuff after going through my gen 7 builder and seeing what stuff I could try and transfer over. (also I realized in my last post I might've been doing the parentheses backwards so I fixed)
:butterfree: OR :noctowl: (:togekiss:)
Togekiss @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance / Nasty Plot
- Draining Kiss / Moonblast
- Hurricane
- Roost

Someone already posted the Butter-kiss set as a sweeper, but Noct-kiss can be a really scary breaker with more immediate power in Nasty Plot.

:conkeldurr: (:terrakion:)
Terrakion @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Mach Punch
- Knock Off
- Stone Edge

Now with Terrak back, one of my favorite sets from USUM can come back, and with a buff now that Conk has CC.

:tsareena: (:snorlax:)
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Sweet Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Knock Off
- Rapid Spin
- U-turn
- Synthesis

I ran a similar set to this last gen with Snorlax inheriting from Komala and using Wish. Unfortunately, that isn't possible yet this gen, but Tsareena makes a decent discount donor. Not being able to put to sleep will definitely help with the mons inheriting from Sleep Powder Butterfree, and it could even run Aromatherapy for more team support somewhere.

:solrock: OR :claydol: (:coalossal:)
Coalossal @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Morning Sun
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz / Rock Slide / Fire Blast / Earthquake / whatever you want

Coalossal @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Teleport

Levitate Heatran was something I'm sure I wasn't the only person to use, Coalossal can do something similar. Solrock gives it recovery, Will-o-wisp, and Fire STAB, while Claydol gives it Spin and Teleport for momentum.

:goodra: (:keldeo:)
Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Sludge Wave

Someone already posted a Sap Sipper Keldeo with Drampa, but Goodra having Sludge Wave does slightly more than Thunderbolt, notably always getting the OHKO on offensive Primarina, and doing much more damage to max HP variants. So it may have its merits, especially since Sludge Wave hits pure Grass types harder too.

:darmanitan: (:cinderace:)
Cinderace @ Choice Band
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake

Because Cinderace is naturally faster than Darm, it can afford to run a Choice Band, and this actually makes its power insane, being able to always 2HKO max Def Toxapex, something that Scarf Darm can't do.

Also want to mention that I looked into possible things to inherit from Alolan Persian but nothing stuck out to me. Obstagoon could potentially be cool, keeping Knock and Parting Shot but gaining Fur Coat, Toxic, etc. I'll need to do more research on that one

More theorymonning until Inheritance gets fixed - 50 Shades of Dragapult

Perrserker (Dragapult) @ Life Orb / Lum Berry / Choice Band
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Claw
- Close Combat
- U-turn / Facade
- Swords Dance / Facade

I know someone has already mentioned Perrserker as a donator, but they hadn't mentioned the fact it gets SD. So now it has reliable ghost STAB + fighting coverage, ability to setup and can do a fair bit of chip while pivoting out with U-turn. Perfect neutral ghost + fighting coverage gives it room to fit in Tough Claws boosted Facade to make sure that anything hoping to cripple it with a burn is in for a sore mistake. Choice Band would also probably work.

Silvally (Dragapult) @ Ghost Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Outrage / Dragon Claw
- U-turn
- Swords Dance

Perrserker is probably a better Donor for an SD set, but 120 BP ghost STAB is just too hard to turn down.

Obstagoon (Dragapult) @ Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Shadow Claw
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Trick

For the love of god, do not click defog while this thing is alive.

Obstagoon (Dragapult) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Facade
- Close Combat
- Shadow Claw / Knock Off
- Bulk Up / Taunt / Trick / Obstruct

Facade hits harder than a STAB Shadow Claw, as sad as that is. Shadow Claw does keep ghost-types from wanting to switch into Facades however. Last slot can fit in one of the many utilities Obstagoon as to offer. Shadow Claw + Close Combat already has perfect coverage so it's possible to drop Facade for another utility move if your team appreciates that more.

Mawile (Dragapult) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Taunt / Stealth Rocks / Substitute

There of course has to be Sheer Force + LO set for every special ghost type. Ice Beam reliably hits Mandibuzz, while Focus Blast just existing scares off other dark-types from attempting to switch in. Taunt lets it get past passive walls, SR can be fit in if no where else on the team while Sub just eases prediction.

Jirachi (Dragapult) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunder
- Draco Meteor
- U-turn

This is probably my favorite set, as Serene Grace Shadow Ball means you have a 40% to lower the opponents sp def, which is absolutely huge in letting it turn 3HKO's into the 2HKO's on the switch. It also gets to keep Draco Meteor as a nuke, as well as U-turn to pivot. Thunder has a nice 60% to paralyze the switch-in, but Thunderbolt might be better for accuracy. Moonblast is a great coverage move that scares off dark-types, but is unfortunately incompatible with Draco Meteor. Dazzing Gleam or Aura Sphere could be used as coverage for Dark Types, but they are relatively weak and fishing for para or pivoting out would be more productive in most cases.

Lunatone (Dragapult) @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Moonblast
- Nasty Plot
- Substitute

A standard SubNP set. Levitate lets it come in on a predicted ground move. Lunatone also has some nice moves in Earth Power and Ice Beam, but they don't hit anything significant Shadow Ball and Moonblast doesn't. If Unaware Toxapex becomes a thing then Earth Power could be nice. Moonlight could be used over Sub as well.

Ninetales (Dragapult) @ Life Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam / Extrasensory
- Nasty Plot

Drought gives Dragapult a pseudo-STAB Fire Blast. Solar Beam could be nice to break past bulky waters and rocks much quicker, but Extrasensory can hit Toxapex. A SubNP set could also work, as well as a Choice Specs set.

Drifblim (Dragapult) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Flare Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hex
- Strength Sap / Knock Off / Defog
- Thunder Wave / Will-O-Wisp
- Trick

This probably isn't a very good set, but why not? Flare Boost is the special equivalent to Guts. You can status even through Magic Bounce by tricking your flame orb.

And then there's the Simple + NP Swoobat set someone has already mentioned.

A few theory mons i made but can’t test cuz validator is trash:
Keldeo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Focus Blast
- Surf
- Parting Shot
- Sludge Bomb

Surprisingly Pangoro gets Surf and Sludge Bomb, but this set works well currently with Water Absorb everywhere for Fishious Rend. Parting Shot isn’t the best pivot move in the world but still works. Sludge Bomb covers Fairy and Grass types. Gets walled by Toxapex :( but that brings us onto the next mon...

Zeraora @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Punch
- Ice Punch
- Swords Dance
- Psychic Fangs

Someone actually posted this on page 1, but this is with Psychic Fangs. It covers Toxapex which walls Keldeo, and Psychic Fangs is for Lightning Rod variations which I guess is also common due to Bolt Beak, but still you’re not gonna use the last slot much anyway.

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Body Slam
- Heal Bell

Espeon gives Snorlax Magic Bounce and Wish, which is great team support with its great special bulk and HP. Rest of the set is pretty self-explanatory.

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Recover
- Toxic
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Quagsire is a really great donor in Unaware, but this time in Water Absorb to cover Rhydon’s double weakness. Compounded with a Ground/Rock typing, it is able to wall major threats in the meta like Bolt Beak, Fishious Rend and Heliolisk. It also gets reliable recovery and perfect coverage Dual STAB. It already has great all around stats and still gets Eviolite.

Screw it, I'll post a few sets.

Dubwool (Cobalion) @ Leftovers
Ability: Fluffy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Cotton Guard
- Body Press
- Thunder Wave
- Substitute

I really wanted to test out Dubwool's unique combo of Cotton Guard and Body Press, and I find Cobalion to be the perfect abuser, which is quite fast too. Given its Fighting typing and already high base Defense, Body Press will hit very hard, especially with Fluffy. The set has downsides; besides the basic combo, Dubwool's movepool is pretty crappy, and Cobalion really doesn't like the double Fire weakness. I still think the set can work given proper support, though.

Durant (Escavalier) @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 132 Def / 124 SpD
Adamant Nature
- First Impression
- Iron Head
- Superpower
- Rock Slide

From one metal bug to another. This thing's First Impression boosted by Band and Hustle will hit obscenely hard, at least when it hits. Durant's coverage aside from that isn't too good, so I just run Iron Head for STAB (A shame it doesn't get Gyro Ball), and Superpower and Rock Slide (run over Stone Edge for reliability) for added coverage. Like the above set this guy hates Fire types, so watch out for those. Unfortunately the set can't be used right now because the verifier apparently thinks this is Zweilous. Hopefully that gets fixed soon.

That's a shame. Didn't know that. I guess it can still be run to tank physical hits given that Defense is still sky-high. As for Escavalier, the main move choice will usually be First Impression, so Speed isn't really too much of an issue.

quick little hazard setter idea:

Coalossal (Aegislash) @ leftovers/air balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 196 Sp. Def
IVs: 0 Attack
Bold Nature
-Stealth Rock
-Spikes
-Will-o-wisp
-Rapid Spin

you would be surprised the amount of times this set has been hit by a fire move, it is a common response and it can both give out and remove hazards, Air Balloon makes it only weak to dark till hit by a move, and leftovers just makes it able to take more. Focus sash could also be run

Hopefully that gets fixed soon.
Mudsdale (Cobalion) @ Leftovers
Ability: Stamina
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly/Timid Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Toxic/Earth Power/Iron Head
- Substitute

The premise of your set (using Cobalion to spam Body Press) is good, since it is the Fighting type with the highest Defense in the game, immune to Toxic and fairly fast. There is however an even better user of Body Press than Dubwool. Mudsdale donates the ability Stamina, which passively boosts the power of Body Press, giving Cobalion more free turns if it gets hit by any attack, and allowing it to snowball to ridiculous levels.

Please bear with the OM development team. They all fully acknowledge the faulty validation system Inheritance has been having and are trying their best to find a time when they can fix these bugs. It shouldn't take any longer than a few more days. There is no need to continue posting about your validation issues here.

To reiterate what Ransei said - yes, the validator for Inheritance is not working properly. I have updated the OP of the thread to reflect this. Until these issues are fixed, I'd prefer if dicussion could focus on legal sets and potential metagame trends rather than the current broken state of the metagame. For starters, here are a few sets that people might want to try out / think about:

:terrakion:
Pangoro (Terrakion) @ Life Orb
Ability: Scrappy / Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off / Earthquake
- Swords Dance

As people have been noticing, Terrakion is very, very good. A big reason for this is its versatility, Terrakion is able to run a variety of sets that can finesse past typical defensive counterplay. These sets inheriting from Pangoro are an example of this ability. I outlined that typical counterplay for Contrary Terrakion is Unaware users and Doublade, and by picking one of these sets Terrakion is able to cleave right through either one. Mold Breaker allows it to boost through Unaware walls such as Mew, while Scrappy makes Doublade weak to Terrakion's Close Combat. Terrakion is a threat I am potentially concerned about, but it's definitely too early to say for sure whether something is problematic.

:bewear:
Lucario (Bewear) @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Swords Dance

With the loss of powerful Extreme Speed abusers from last generation like Mega Mawile or Mega Medicham, Bewear stands out as the strongest Extreme Speed user currently available. This Bewear set inherits from Lucario, and it's quite threatening for offensive teams given its powerful Extreme Speed, but defensive teams may struggle with its high power level in general. Definitely a threat to keep an eye on.

:snorlax:
Arcanine (Snorlax) @ Choice Band
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 168 Def / 88 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Close Combat
- Crunch
- Double-Edge

This is an interesting Snorlax set that serves a dual purpose. It's an extremely reliable check to Torkoal inheritors like Chandelure or Salazzle thanks to Flash Fire, but it also makes use of Arcanine's fantastic offensive movepool. Extreme Speed lets it revenge kill many offensive threats, while its great coverage and high power lets it threaten fatter teams as well. This set can slot into a balance or bulky offense team in need of any of the aftermentioned roles.

:inteleon:
Crawdaunt (Inteleon) @ Focus Sash / Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf / Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Nasty Plot

A lot of the offensive sets I've highlighted so far have been physically-oriented. Inteleon is one Pokemon that stood out to me as a special attacker since it can run a very powerful Nasty Plot set when inheriting from Crawdaunt. The main appeal of this over Keldeo is a much better speed tier (outspeeding Terrakion and Heliolisk is neat), the two don't significantly differ in power either. This set is an option if you're looking for a fast special setup sweeper to add to a hyper offensive team.

Let's talk Bulky Attackers

steelix.gif

Corviknight (Steelix) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mirror Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish/relaxed Nature
- U-turn
- Roost
- Body Press/Iron Head
- Defog

While a specially defensive spread is much better, I personally prefer to go all out in the highest stat on my mons. Body Press coming off of a 548 defense stat is sure to send any bisharp/obstagoon inheritor packing as they will most likely be dark, normal or steel. You can opt for min speed to guarantee your slow pivot to underspeed escavalier u-turns.

ferrothorn.gif

Centiskorch (Ferrothorn) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fire Lash
- Power Whip
- Coil
- Leech Life/Knock Off

We've all seen some variation of fire-immunity ferrothorn in various OMs, but this one takes an offensive spin on the normally tanky wall. while still very much tanky, the offensive presence of this set has the potential to spin out of control akin to the likes of curselax and/or crocune. Coil boosting accuracy makes power whip a risk-free woodhammer rather than a physical grass type fire blast. Fire lash is a must for breaking past unaware walls and leech life is for longevity. Knock off is an option to hit ghost types like chandelure and dragapult. The real claim to fame on this set is the fact that it resists/is immune to all boosted moves from both torkoal and toxtricity inheritors giving plenty of setup opportunities.

tyranitar.gif

Grapploct (Tyranitar) @ Black Glasses/Leftovers
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Octolock/Circle Throw
- Payback/Brutal Swing
- Bulk Up/Circle Throw
- Rest

This set serves largely as a bait for incoming fighting/ghost types. The inheriting from grapploct implies that the very obvious octolock come with it, why else would you run grapploct? And in that is where the bait lies. Circle throw is to catch any incoming fighting (and fairy) types that would try to reverse the situation by forcing in a potentially unfavorable mon. Payback is to catch the more ambitious players who would switch in a ghost type on tyranitar to avoid getting trapped (it is worth noting that payback's doubling effect doesn't apply for the switch). Leftovers is the go-to item for any bulky attacker, but black glasses secure the 2HKO on galarian corsola and dusclops without the need for hazard support.

weezing-galar.gif

Ribombee (Weezing-Galar) @ Black Sludge
Ablity: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Roost
- Moonblast/Draining Kiss
- Energy Ball/Toxic/filler

This is perhaps my favorite of the bunch because of how many countermeasures are in one potential set. Firstly, fairy is a great mono-attacking type so you don't really need coverage per se. Energy ball is an option to hit potentially threatening ground types for super-effective damage, but it wouldn't be surprising to see many of them inherit sap sipper, so toxic is an option as well. Additionally, Toxic allows you to beat unaware mons while weezing's poison typing prevents itself from receiving a toxic in return, save for the occasional salazzle. Draining kiss is an option over moonblast to have some sort of recovery in the event of a taunt but has a garbage damage output considering that it's coming off of an uninvested base 85 special attack stat. While this set could be pulled off with strength sap over roost while using bellossom, the shield dust is what really sells it for me. no discharge/ body slam para, scald/ lava plume burn, iron head/ air slash/ (zen) headbutt/ rock slide/ king's rock flinching, ice beam freezing, fire lash/ crunch/ liquidation defense drop, moonblast special attack drop, shadow ball special defense drop. Absolutely none of that garbage, you are free to set up in peace.

Now we can't have a post talking about bulky attackers without mentioning the GSC god himself. Most of the sets pretty much explain themselves.

snorlax.gif

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Wish
- U-turn
- Defog/Haze/filler
- Roost

or

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Moonlight/Protect
- Wish
- Teleport
(soft-boiled is incompatible with teleport and magic guard)

Specially defensive wish passer with a huge HP stat

Snorlax @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Claw
- Facade/Stomping Tantrum

This set will be a bit harder than previously to pull off with all the ghosts and whatnot, but +6 espeed snorlax is nothing to scoff at.

Sirfetch'd/Pangoro (Snorlax) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse/Bulk Up
- Body Slam
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

or

Pangoro (Snorlax) @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Facade
- Bulk Up
- Power Trip
- Drain Punch

or if you're crazy

Milotic (Snorlax) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Marvel Scale
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Facade
- Dragon Tail/Bulldoze/Brutal Swing/filler
- Recover
- Coil

Different flavors of the classic set, the mold breaker variant uses facade due to the higher risk of being statused, power trip hits ghosts and drain punch is for recovery. In the first set sirfetch'd is used because it allows for an offensive fighting type *cough cough* terrak *cough cough* to use scrappy close combat with better coverage moves. The inverse can be used if first impression is preferred. The 3rd set is much riskier but also much harder to stop once it starts due to marvel scale. Dragon tail works especially well with hazards.

I have done some testing, and have figured out EXACTLY what the error is with the validator. Here is how it validates things right now: (besides the illegal uber thing)
1. Notes the pokemon’s ability
2. Goes through the pokedex BACKWARDS until it finds a mon with that ability
3. If there is no legal move for that pokemon in that set, the validator moves on through the dex.
4. If the pokemon DOES have at least one legal move from the current learnset it is checking, it will validate with that learnset. If there is an illegal move for that learnset (in addition to the legal move) it will reject the pokemon and won’t check any more learnsets.
Impact of error: Gen 1 donors are nearly impossible to use, as the validator is highly likely to get stuck on a mon much newer than gen 1. Universal moves like Protect or Rest are nearly impossible to use on any set that isn’t using a signature ability.
If you find anything else that I missed, feel free to tell me!
TL;DR You can get away with gen 8 donors, anything else has a very low chance of working. Avoid putting universal TM moves in a set - they can easily make the set illegal.

I asked a while back if Silvally can use any of its forms as its base form and inherent from other Pokemon.
After going into teambuilder, I tested it out with a standard Clefable set but on a Silvally-Fairy, and it works.

With that in mind, Silvally is an extremely diverse and unpredictable Pokemon. Thanks to being able to use any mono type, it sets itself apart from typical Mew Clones. You can have practically any set, and as long as it isn't Silvally-Psychic, it can at least be put to good use.

Tested it myself and it does work. Made up a Dragapult set inheriting from Silvally-Ghost. Dragapult can also run special variants inheriting from silvally
Dragapult @ Ghost Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Multi-Attack
- Dragon Claw
- U-turn/Filler
- Swords Dance
This set capitalizes on Dragapult not having to use a 2 turn ghost move, while still having dual stab and now swords dance.
Also Multi Attack getting the buff allows it to do alot after a swords dance.
+2 252 Atk Dragapult Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Toxapex: 198-234 (65.1 - 76.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
+2 252 Atk Dragapult Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Ferrothorn: 220-261 (62.5 - 74.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

I meant the other way around.
As in Silvally-Fairy can have Magic Guard+Clefable's move pool.

Question. Trying to run a set with Snatch, but apparently that's illegal? As far as I know there's no clause for Snatch, nor does Inheritance itself ban the move. This was the set:

Sableye (Obstagoon) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Taunt
- Snatch
- Sucker Punch
- Magic Coat

Dhelmise (Escavalier) @ Choice Band
Ability: Steelworker
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Gyro Ball
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Power Whip

I haven't played much of Inheritance, but all I know is that this thing gets a lot of work done in TR

Snatch does not exist in gen 8 at all.
Technically, it DOES exist. It’s just an unselectable move in your set. (Basically a blank slot) The only use for this is to make an automatic struggle set without using assault vest or Belch. All the other moves cut from gen 8 work like that now.

Been playing around with another very interesting and cool physically defensive check to the metagame:

Hitmontop(Doublade)@ Eviolite
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Bulk Up/Close Combat/High Jump Kick
- Bullet Punch
- Rapid Spin/Close Combat/High Jump Kick
- Gyro Ball

Very simple, yet very effective. This thing comes in on pretty much every physical mon in the meta and can break down threats before they can break you. Even against a pokemon like arctozolt zeraora, this only takes ~25% WITHOUT intimidate, and then proceeds to 3hko with gyro ball into bp without boosting. Most variants of dragapult I've seen run physical, and that just dies to gyro into bp. Rapid spin helps a lot with hazard control, but if you don't need it then you could run a fighting coverage move, and you could even replace bulk up if you'd like to keep rapid spin and hit mons like snorlax, heliolisk or terrakion on the switch. Heck, I don't actually end up boosting that much and it still puts in so much work. Consider running this as a physical wall for your teams!

Edit: mixed up arctovish with arctozolt

Edit 2: forgot to say which mon this is inheriting from
