Hey Alan, welcome to Smogon! I've only being playing Pokemon back in 2012-2013, but 2000 is quite a long time! It's great to meet someone who is passionate about Pokemon! What's your favourite Pokemon? I really like a lot of Pokemon such as Regice and Grumpig. Tepig is also a really cool Pokemon and was coincidentally my first starter Pokemon (From Pokemon Black 2)

Hello everybody my name is Mitchell. I've been into pokemon since I was a young kid when silver and gold came out. My favorite pokemon game of all time is Ruby version because nearly everything about that game is just so memorable for me and I achieved so much in that game. My favorite pokemon of all time has to be Rayquaza because he's just so darn cool! Ive played pokemon a lot but I haven't played anything after the 3rd generation though. Regardless, I still really like pokemon and look forward to meeting new people here!

I do agree that ruby was a pretty good game, although I preferred sapphire.

Welcome to the forums! OU and Monotype are some of my favorite tiers. I'd suggest visiting the OU room in Showdown for a start to help you learn the basics of OU. You can also do the same for Monotype. In addition, both tiers have their own subforums here at Smogon for their competitive discussions. "Watching" the forum and reading past threads can be very helpful for you to get an idea of the metagame. Lastly, join the Battling 101 Program if being taught by tutors is something you might be interested in. If you have any other questions, use the Simple Questions thread, the SQSA threads, or PM me, Chesty, Fluke, or TheHoodedGamer. Also, if you want to chat with other new users, join our IRC chat. I started playing Pokemon ever since it started with Blue Version! I got my first brush of what competitive Battling is around 2005 on Netbattle, which is when I first came up with the username Pumped Aaron. Although Smogon's system would tell you that I joined in 2008, the reality is that I really only started involving myself in the community earlier this year, starting in the Old Gens room on PS. I'm currently working towards mastery in ORAS Triple battles, and I hope to find some more Triples players here. 3rd gen OU players would be nice to find, too =).

I'm guessing you like the Machop evolution line? :) A few years ago--five, I think--I started playing Pokemon with Emerald after having watched my friend play it for several months. As soon as I started training my Torchic, I was hooked. I started competitive battling a little more than a year and a half ago, after the same friend who got me started with Emerald introduced me to Showdown. I got involved first with the Community Mentoring room, until that got removed, and I joined the Other Metas community. I now play a lot of Monotype and various Random Battle tiers, but I'm not very active on the main server, unfortunately. It looks like you already know what you're interested in, so I'll just advise you to use this thread or one of the SQSA threads for help if you need it. Enjoy your time here and in Showdown!
Hey, I'm Blank and I found out about Smogon just a few days ago. I'd heard the terms OU and RU etc before but I didn't really know how they were made. Turns out it was here. Anyhow, I've played all the games except ORAS, starting from Emerald in '07. I haven't done too much competitive battling cause I was more into the story mode of the game, but I'm trying to get better at that now. As for Pokemon, I kind of like combination steel types, and all of my teams so far have contained a Gardevoir. Its not a weird fetish or anything, when I first played Emerald, my team had like only 3 pokemon and I remember being proud of myself when my Kirlia became a Gardevoir. I also like Anime/Manga.

If you're looking to get better at competitive battling, lurking around the Competitive Discussion forum is never a bad idea. Another thing I'd like to suggest is heading over to the Battling 101 subforum You can get a tutor for whatever tier you're looking to learn about. The signups are to be posted at 5 PM EST. I created this account, so that I can get help with teambuilding and getting BR mons and learning more about competitive stuff as well.

My favorite Pokemon is Delphox <3, I like the newer Pokemon games, and my favorite tier is RU. I like writing and lately I've been trying to get into photography n_n. Well, I don't really know how to introduce myself, but I'll at least try. I guess I can start by saying that I've only started visiting Smogon very recently. Shocking, I know. To be fair, I wasn't even into playing Pokemon competitively until, a year ago or so. So, I think it's safe to say that I hope to be part of this community in the future. I'd share my Friend Codes and such with you guys, but unfortunately my 3DS, my only way of playing DS games, was stolen from me a couple months ago, so that wouldn't be the smartest idea. My 3DS being broken is also why I plan on playing pokemon Showdown pretty often. My favorite Pokemon is Luxray (I really, really like this Pokemon for some reason) and Generation IV will always have a special place in my heart, though I did enjoy every Pokemon game. Alright then, I'm off!

Anyway, starting to having interest on strategy in early BW meta, I became an excessive reader of Smogon forums at the beginning of XY, so I have a great knowledge of the metagame (mainly OU and Monotype). Even if I'm not as good at battle, I want to contribute in this forum to share my opinions. Hope you enjoy it!

I play Pokemon I like and do my best to make them viable, I am seeking fun mostly mixed with competitive play
I secretly train in monotype for my maybe future team in Pokemon go as a Psy gym leader(let's have a vision guys ;))

Yeah, I also started playing competitively about a year and a half ago, and only really started getting involved with the Smogon community about a year ago. Are there any particular areas of Smogon you'd like to take a better look at? What about Pokemon interests you the most? If you want to learn and understand more about competitive battling, visit the Competitive Discussion to find the tier(s) you want to get involved in. You can lurk for a while before actively posting, just to make sure you understand how things work. Maybe you like the tournaments. Jump in the Tournaments forum for lots of fun battling! If you're not sure yet, feel free to explore and find areas you like. Have a great time here! :)

How's it going? I started playing Pokemon with Emerald, but the first game that I bought was Y. After playing both Emerald and Y, I went back to the previous generations, save for the first two, which I still haven't played. :( I also was hooked to Showdown after playing it, and almost couldn't stop until I regained control a while later. I like Monotype, and I used to be decent at Balanced Hackmons, but I haven't really played it recently. My favorite Monotype type is Bug, although my favorite type in general is Steel.
