INTRODUCTION
Hey, this is my first time writing an RMT for SV OU, and I haven't written one in a while, and I think I have gotten a lot better since. I don't build often, but I have grown a lot more confident in building, mostly due to the success of this team. Big shoutout to leng loi who suggested the core of Smack Down Lando-T + Sash SD Samurott-H + Tera Ground Iron Jugulis, and I went from there.
PROOF OF PEAK
MEET THE TEAM
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Soft Sand
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Smack Down
- Earthquake
Lando-T is the rocker for my team. Soft Sand is great for raw power, and Tera Ground also helps with that. Max Speed lets it speed tie other max speed Lando-T, while also outspeeding Pokemon such as Great Tusk and Gholdengo. Stone Edge is an option over Smack Down, but I like to have the combination of Smack Down -> Earthquake to hit Pokemon such as Corviknight and Rotom-Wash.
Samurott-Hisui @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sharpness
Tera Type: Ghost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ceaseless Edge
- Razor Shell
- Sucker Punch
Samurott-H does it all. Breaker, lead, revenge killer; you name it, Samurott's got you covered. In most games, this is my lead. It is very good at forcing progress in the early game. Tera Ghost is crucial for spinblocking, but I would avoid clicking Tera on it if you can. Some options include Knock Off, Sacred Sword, and Encore.
Iron Jugulis @ Booster Energy
Ability: Quark Drive
Tera Type: Ground
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Earth Power
- Taunt
- Knock Off
Iron Jugulis either feels like the best or the worst Pokemon ever, depending on the matchup, and whether it feels like hitting its move. Hurricane is its STAB move; we need Flying coverage to hit Pokemon like Great Tusk and Zamazenta, and we do not want to rely on Air Slash. Tera Ground + Earth Power is the key to this set. I have caught many Raging Bolt offguard with this combination. Taunt + Knock Off is great into bulky teams. Bring this in wisely; Booster Energy is one-time, and I find that the second time it comes in, it is usually not performing very well.
Gholdengo @ Air Balloon
Ability: Good as Gold
Tera Type: Fairy
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Shadow Ball
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psyshock
Gholdengo is the anti-hazard removal for this team. While Iron Jugulis is a big help into bulky structures, it cannot do all the heavy lifting. Thus, I have decided to use Psyshock Gholdengo in order to dismantle bulky teams, and at worst, force a defensive Tera on something like Blissey or Clodsire. Tera Fairy does general Tera Fairy stuff; pairs well with Gholdengo's base typing, powers up Dazzling Gleam, etc.
Zamazenta @ Leftovers
Ability: Dauntless Shield
Tera Type: Fire
EVs: 252 Atk / 88 Def / 168 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Defense
- Body Press
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
Zamazenta is the all-purpose physical check for this team. I am a huge advocate for max attack Zamazenta; it makes all the difference against Gholdengo, Slowking-Galar, and the like. Stone Edge is important in order to lure Moltres. Tera Fire is to avoid Will-O-Wisp.
Enamorus-Therian (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Overcoat
Tera Type: Poison
EVs: 248 HP / 136 SpA / 124 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Earth Power
- Taunt
Last but not least, Enamorus-Therian. If I am being honest, this last Pokemon could have been a bunch of things. The main thing I noticed about the first 5 is that I would like more help answering Iron Valiant and Primarina. Enam-T checks Valiant quite nicely, and against slower sets of Primarina, it does well enough with Taunt + CM. If I were to replace any Pokemon, this would be it. In my builder, I have a lot of versions of this team with different last Pokemon; some of them including Scizor, Volcanion, and Okidogi. The version with Enamorus-Therian just happened to be the one I tried out first, and it stuck. Max HP for bulk, and the speed hits 159, which creeps on bulky Primarina sets. Tera Poison is a generally solid defensive typing, and also avoids Toxic.
THREATLIST
This team would be very happy if Gliscor ended up getting banned. For me, the main problem has been Swords Dance. Even Landorus-Therian is outsped, so we can't Taunt it. If you need to, try to duel it with your Zamazenta.
You have no switchins, except for Zamazenta once. My advice is to play aggressively and never let this Pokemon switch in for free. I would also advise leading Samurott, as it usually trades for big damage on Wellspring turn 1.
The electric bird is a huge problem for our team. Knock + hazards helps a lot against it. If you want to be better into Zapdos and are fine with being worse into burns, try Tera Electric on Zamazenta.
Hit this hard. Offensive sets are going to do huge damage to at least one member of your team, but you can hit it back as hard with Landorus-Therian. If that is not around, Gholdengo might be the next best option.
Despite it all, Garganacl still finds a way to become menacing. Again, hit it hard when it comes in, and Taunt it if you need to. Knock Off is a tremendous help as well.
RNG WARNING
Misses are a huge problem for this team. Whether you miss a Ceaseless Edge turn 1, or an Iron Jugulis Hurricane, expect accuracy to be a factor when using the team.
REPLAYS
I hope you enjoyed reading this RMT, and I hope you possibly consider using my team. Thanks! :)
Shoutout to Blunder and aim for using this team on BL Knights. Check out the vid:
