Other Options
=============

Checks and Counters
===================

**Dugtrio**: Possibly the biggest thorn in Jirachi's side, Dugtrio poses a threat to any and all Jirachi sets. With the ability to trap and remove Jirachi with Choice Band Earthquake, the Jirachi user must be very cognizant of the game state and always be vigilant of a possible death fodder or double switch to get Dugtrio in. While it can dispatch sets without bulk like Superachi, it can fail to trap Jirachi in certain instances, such as against a healthy +1 SpA Bulky Jirachi. In addition, a full health Astarachi will live an Earthquake and have a 60% chance to Paralyze Dugtrio with Body Slam so it can be removed with a second Body Slam.

**Ground-type Coverage**: Other Earthquake users like Snorlax, Metagross, and Tyranitar pose large threats to Jirachi due to their high bulk and extremely powerful Earthquakes. Tyranitar in particular is very threatening because it is immune to Psychic and resistant to Fire Punch (though it must be wary of the burn chance!).

**Fire-types**: Moltres, Charizard, and Houndoom all threaten Jirachi with their powerful Fire Blast. Houndoom in particular can switch into Jirachi's moves with ease (bar Thunderbolt/Thunder). These Pokemon may take advantage of Jirachi's vulnerability by setting up Substitute in the case of Charizard or gaining value with Will-O-Wisp or Roar in the case of Moltres.

**Bulky Ground-types**: Swampert and Claydol pose an issue to Jirachi's with their strong natural bulk and Earthquake. Swampert will struggle against a Jirachi with Hidden Power Grass, but it is very effective at checking Jirachi otherwise. Claydol has strong natural HP and Special Defense and can usually take the brunt of any hit that Jirachi can throw at it and deal heavy damage back with Earthquake.

**Status**: Jirachi is the epitome of "can dish it but can't take it" when it comes to status. Paralysis from the likes of Blissey, Zapdos, Magneton and others or a Burn from Gengar and Weezing will throw a wrench in both the offensive and defensive capabilities of Jirachi who will then struggle to take repeated hits from Zapdos, Gengar, Suicune and other potent special threats.
