RIP ShadowAbra

[SET]
name: Focus Sash
move 1: Lovely Kiss
move 2: Ice Beam
move 3: Psyshock / Focus Blast
move 4: Nasty Plot / Focus Blast
item: Focus Sash
ability: Dry Skin
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
 • Functions by immediately putting pressure on teams and causing heavy damage early game
 • Lovely Kiss lets it put something out of commission and give it a chance to Nasty Plot. Can be used to prevent SR early game against SR leads.
 • Focus Sash lets it survive any attack, which guarantees that it gets to do something, be safely put something to Sleep or get heavy damage off. Will generally get at least 1 KO and have something put to Sleep.
 • Ice Beam is Jynx's best STAB move and does a ton of damage against anything, especially after a Nasty Plot
 • Psyshock is Jynx's secondary STAB move of choice as it lets it target specially defensive Pokemon such as Lickilicky and Audino without resorting to Focus Blast. Also hits opposing Jynx and SpD Ludicolo harder than any other move.
 • Focus Blast still hits Lickilicky and Audino while finding a new target in Piloswine, but it's unreliable compared to Psyshock in terms of accuracy and misses out on Colo.
 • Focus Blast can also be used over Nasty Plot to gain extra coverage, which more useful against more offensive teams, but Nasty Plot works better vs teams with special walls

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]
 • As the focus of the set is to get off heavy damage off, cleaners such as Scarf Primape and Swellow are good to pair it with.
 • Jynx generally lures in Lickilicky and Audino, so other special attackers that like having those Pokemon weakened work. (Ludicolo in particular works well as it helps out in Jynx's match up against Piloswine or Metang leads)
 • Taunt + Magnet Pull Probopass has a good lead match up vs Metang by trapping and Earth Powering to death while preventing SR to keep Jynx's Sash for later.
 • When using Focus Blast over Nasty Plot, Psychic becomes a great option over Psyshock to get a stronger hit against Pokemon such as Alomomola and Weezing.
 • Counter can be used over Nasty Plot to take down a physical attacker in exchange for Jynx's Sash. (Includes Metang, Scarf Ape, Scolipede) Problem is that if you give up Nasty Plot you can't break as easily with your special attacks.
 • Counter is also illegal with Dry Skin so when using it Jynx's ability should be Oblivious . (Not Forewarn because it reveals itself as your ability unlike Oblivious which could give away Counter)
 • Can use Energy Ball to OHKO Seismitoad and still get a hit against Piloswine
 • Rapid Spin support from Wartortle can be useful to keep Jynx's Sash from breaking to hazards
 • Icy Wind is usable over Nasty Plot/Focus Blast so Jynx can get a guaranteed LK or an extra hit against faster Pokemon.

[SET COMMENTS]

This variant of Jynx functions by immediately putting pressure on the opponent from turn one. By utilizing her Focus Sash, she is almost guaranteed to be able to put something to sleep with Lovely Kiss or severely damage teams with her attacks. Lovely Kiss allows Jynx to put something out of commission and gives her an opportunity to either deal damage or set up Nasty Plot. Lovely Kiss also allows Jynx to put other leads to sleep, potentially preventing Stealth Rock from being set up. Ice Beam is Jynx's main STAB move and has excellent coverage in NU, hitting everything hard thanks to Jynx's high Special Attack. Psyshock is Jynx's secondary STAB move of choice as deals good damage to special walls such as Regice, Audino, Lickilicky, and Ludicolo and hits opposing Jynx the hardest out of any other move on this set. Focus Blast also hits these special walls hard and can even allow Jynx to hit Pokemon that Psyshock cannot such as Piloswine, Metang, Probopass, and Bastiodon, but it's unreliable in terms of accuracy when compared to Psyshock and misses out on opposing Jynx and specially defensive Ludicolo. Nasty Plot gives Jynx the opportunity to break through special walls with either Psyshock or Focus Blast and in general allows Jynx to tear teams apart with her attacks. This set has two main ways of being used: by either using three attacks and having more options against offense or using Nasty Plot and two attacks and breaking apart defensive teams more easily, meaning Jynx is very unpredictable and dangerous to any sort of team she could face.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

As Jynx is used to open up holes in opposing teams, Pokemon that can clean up late-game such as Swellow, Choice Scarf Primeape, and SubSalac Scolipede make good partners. Because Jynx tends to lure in specially defensive Pokemon such as Regice, Audino, and Lickilicky and either removes them from the game or deals major damage to them, other special attackers that appreciate them gone make good partners as well. Ludicolo in particular works very well with Jynx and can even take advantage of Metang, who puts a stop to Jynx's shenanigans. Magnet Pull Probopass with Taunt can trap the Steel-type Pokemon that give Jynx trouble such as Metang, Probopass, and Bastiodon and also prevent Stealth Rock from being set up, allowing Jynx to keep her Focus Sash. Rapid Spin support is not required, but it is appreciated to keep Jynx's Focus Sash around as long as possible if it cannot be sent out first turn. Wartortle is the best Rapid Spin user in the tier, has good synergy with Jynx, and is able to almost guarantee a Rapid Spin with Foresight. Counter and Icy Wind allow Jynx to make great use of her Focus Sash and provide her with certain advantages that could make them worthwhile. Counter can be used over Nasty Plot or Focus Blast to fire back any damage taken from physical attacks from Pokemon, such as Metang, Piloswine, Scolipede, and Choice Scarf Primeape, that Jynx would have trouble with otherwise. Keep in mind, however, that Counter is illegal with Dry Skin and should therefore be used with Oblivious as Forewarn would give away the set by announcing its effect to both players. Icy Wind can be used to break the Focus Sash of opposing Scolipede and slow it down to knock it out, and it also slows down other faster Pokemon, such as Charizard and Serperior, so that Jynx can hit them again with an Ice Beam or start firing off Lovely Kisses before they can strike again. Energy Ball could be used as well to hit Seismitoad and still hit Piloswine, but it lacks much use outside of that.

"Focus Sash Lead" is fine imo, and because Jynx doesn't have another lead set, "Lead" works too.

I would call it an Anti-Lead, since that's what it basically performs like. It mostly always prevents early Stealth Rock by either forcing a switch or sleeping them and usually scares off the majority of current leads.

Counter should be slashed too imo, it's an amazing move and ensures Jynx rips apart most of her checks such as Primeape and Skuntank, and takes care of Sawk leads. I've fallen in love with it recently and it works excellently.

EDIT: Since Jynx typically stops Stealth Rock for a good period of time, I would suggest mentioning Charizard as a great teammate because it can switch into a lot of Jynx's checks and counters, such as Metang, Bronzor, Regice, and Scarf Primeape, while not taking 50% hazard damage to do so.

slash focus blast with nasty plot because against some teams, the better coverage is more helpful than a boosting move (ex. teams without a special wall)
mention rapid spin support so you can abuse the sash later in the game
state in description that it can surprise opponents really well as they may expect to ohko you with something like scolipede but instead you take it out while still alive
you can mention psychic in ac too
not much else to say qc 1/3

You could mention Energy Ball in AC to get the OHKO on Seismitoad and SE coverage vs Piloswine/Regirock I guess, not that you want to stay in against the latter two. Doesn't really matter tbh.

I think that Icy Wind is cool to mentioned it, at least on OO.

Since Jynx takes a big advantage when your opponent is just slower than you because LK or NP (also on this set you're running a Sash to guarantee something this), so Icy Wind will be effective against more faster teams / threats that is the best way to deal with Jynx. For example, if you opponent has Ludicolo Rain Dance Icy Wind can help you against him when your opponent team has another mon sleeping, you just uses Icy Wind to Ludicolo in Rain to slow a point the Ludicolo speed (will in 1 in rain) to get RK easier and prevent a possible sweep. This for example was popular on DP times with Gengar Suicide lead Icy Wind + Destiny Bond.

EDIT: Also, your guys i think that should mention Probopass Magnet Pull mainly with Taunt + Earth Power is just exceptional temmate for Jynx in overall but more for this set, winning vs Metang in 1 vs 1 lead (preventing SR from him to break the sash). Also, just killing another Jynx checks like Klang / Bronzor / another Probopass and Bastiodon, also can setupp Stealth Rock and decent sinergy with Jynx.

I'll add Icy Wind to AC. Probopass idea sounds interesting as a partner as well so I'll include it too.

This is now written. I'll start writing Shiftry as well tonight and will probably have it done tomorrow morning.

GP check. Good job on writing this. I changed everything to female because that was how the original analysis on site was written.

Ok thank you. I implemented everything except for the last bit in the Additional Comments. The way you had it changed implied that Charizard and Serperior tend to use Focus Sash, when my original intent was just for Scolipede. For now I removed any mention of Focus Sash when talking about those Pokemon, but it would be good if there was a cohesive way of adding it back in and having it only refer to Scolipede.

EDIT: Treecko fixed it for me :]

Oh OK that makes sense. Maybe something like "Icy Wind can be used to break the potential Focus Sashes of threats such as Scolipede and slow down it and other faster Pokemon such as Charizard and Serperior so that Jynx can hit them again with an Ice Beam or start firing off Lovely Kisses." It's a bit long though, but I'm sure there are other ways to say it too if you don't like my version and you want to include the information.
