Thanks to its excellent Special Attack and Speed, Keldeo is a potent late-game cleaner that is especially effective against stall and sand teams. The combination of Substitute and Calm Mind allows Keldeo to set up against passive Pokemon incapable of breaking a Substitute, such as non-Psychic Slowbro, non-Brave Bird Mandibuzz, and non-Haze Toxapex or Mantine. Substitute is also excellent for avoiding status and easing prediction. Scald is the Water-type move of choice, as it allows Keldeo to burn physical attackers, potentially giving it the opportunity to set up a Substitute against them later in the game. Secret Sword is secondary STAB that can notably bypass Blissey's sky high Special Defense.

Keldeo struggles to break past Psychic Slowbro, and Haze Toxapex or Mantine. Accordingly, Pokemon that can cripple or take advantage of them are excellent choices for teammates. Electric-types such as Zeraora, Magnezone, and Rotom-Heat can threaten the aforementioned Pokemon and retain momentum using Volt Switch. Trick + Sticky Barb Clefable is also a notable teammate, as the passive damage from Scald burns and Sticky Barb will make any wall a much less effective roadblock. Finally, Dragapult is a massive threat to Keldeo, as it shrugs off both of Keldeo's STAB types and, Infiltrator allows Dragapult to damage Keldeo even behind a Substitute. Having a Dragapult check such as Mandibuzz, Clefable, and Blissey will allow Keldeo to safely retreat.

Thanks to its excellent Special Attack and speed tier Speed, Keldeo is a potent late-game cleaner that is especially effective against stall and sand teams. The combination of Substitute and Calm Mind allows Keldeo to set up against passive Pokemon incapable of breaking a Substitute, such as non-Psychic Slowbro, non-Giga Drain Amoonguss (are there even any Amoonguss that don't run Giga Drain?), non-Brave Bird Mandibuzz, and non-Haze Toxapex or Mantine. Scald is the Water-type move of choice, as it allows Keldeo to burn physical attackers, potentially giving it the opportunity to set up a Substitute against them later in the game. Secret Sword is secondary STAB that can notably bypass Blissey's sky high Special Defense. The EVs seek to maximize Keldeo's Speed and damage output and a Timid nature is used to outspeed Pokemon between Base 95 and Base 100 Speed, like Hydreigon, Jirachi, Volcarona, and Urshifu. (Explaining EV's and Nature for this set is unnecessary) (I would also expect a small explanation of Substitute, perhaps how it avoids Status, and is useful for easing prediction)

Keldeo struggles to break past Psychic Slowbro, and Haze Toxapex or Mantine. Accordingly, Pokemon that can cripple or take advantage of them are excellent choices for teammates. Electric-types such as Zeraora, Dracozolt Magnezone (Magnezone is used more than Dracozolt, so its probably worth mentioning over Dracozolt), and Rotom-Heat can threaten the aforementioned Pokemon and retain momentum using Volt Switch or Substitute. Trick + Sticky Barb Clefable is also a notable teammate, as the passive damage from Scald burns and Sticky Barb will make any of those Pokemon a much less effective roadblock. Finally, Dragapult is a massive threat to Keldeo, as Infiltrator allows Dragapult to damage Keldeo even behind a Substitute (I would also mention Dragapult's immunity and resistant to Keldeo's attacks being the main reason its a great bother for Keldeo). Having a Dragapult check such as Mandibuzz, Clefable, and Blissey will allow Keldeo to safely retreat.
