Keldeo's naturally high Special Attack alongside its great Speed tier makes it a very effective and threatening Choice Specs user in OU, able to dismantle many walls and defensive cores. Scald is able to net most 2HKOs for Keldeo without risking missing with Hydro Pump, and it is a much more safer option for revenge killing. Hydro Pump, however, allows Keldeo to KO bulkier Pokemon from a higher range; Corviknight and specially defensive Clefable are 2HKOed by it. For Pokemon that can switch into Keldeo's Water-type STAB moves, such as Ferrothorn and Seismitoad, Secret Sword makes it very risky for them to switch in. Toxic is a good middle ground against Pokemon like Sylveon, Kommo-o, and Mantine that don't take as much damage from Keldeo's moves, crippling them in the long run. Icy Wind is also a possible option for Keldeo, as the Speed drop it provides allows Keldeo to safely 2HKO Dragapult and Venusaur; however, Toxic is usually the preferred option due to how weak Icy Wind is. Maximum Speed investment alongside a Timid nature grants Keldeo an excellent Speed tier, outspeeding the likes of Hydreigon and Kyurem and OHKOing them with ease.

Toxapex fully counters Keldeo, as it can easily shrug off all of Keldeo's moves thanks to its typing and Recover. As such, Dugtrio as a partner is practically mandatory, as it easily takes care of Toxapex and clears the roadblock to use Keldeo much more liberally. Additionally, Dugtrio can soften up or outright revenge kill certain Pokemon like Clefable and Sylveon that can avoid getting OHKOed by Keldeo and retaliate back as well as Pokemon like Zeraora that try to revenge kill Keldeo. In general, bulky Fairy-types like Clefable, Sylveon, and Togekiss can be an annoyance for Keldeo, especially if it's already Choice locked; Steel-types like Excadrill and Aegislash can help to keep these Pokemon under pressure and potentially weaken them for Keldeo to simply clean up. However, both should be cautious of potential Fire-type coverage, such as Flamethrower from Clefable and Togekiss. Bulky Water-types that don't take as much from Secret Sword such as Primarina and Mantine as well as the aforementioned Toxapex are also troublesome for Keldeo, so teammates like Zeraora and Rotom-C can help to circumvent this bane.

[SET COMMENTS]
By enhancing its already above-average Speed with a Choice Scarf, Keldeo is able to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, including notable Pokemon like Zeraora, Dragapult, and Adamant Cloyster after one Shell Smash. Scald is primarily used for when the foe is low enough to get KOed by it without the need to risk missing with Hydro Pump. Hydro Pump is used if Scald is unable to revenge kill weakened Pokemon with good special bulk, such as Aegislash and Clefable. Secret Sword allows Keldeo to do decent damage to Water-immune Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon as well as bulky Steel-types like Ferrothorn while also being an option to revenge kill Pokemon like Hydreigon and Rotom-C. Toxic helps to put pressure on Pokemon like Sylveon, Kommo-o, and Mantine, as Keldeo will struggle to do damage against them. Icy Wind can be used to help Keldeo against Dragapult, but Toxic covers a lot more Pokemon Keldeo would have trouble against otherwise.

In general, Keldeo fits best on bulky offense and balance teams that need something to take care of Pokemon like Cloyster and Excadrill. Rotom-H appreciates Keldeo keeping a tab on Mold Breaker Excadrill as well as threatening Pokemon like Tyranitar and Hydreigon from coming in; in return, Rotom-H can pivot Keldeo into weakened Pokemon to revenge kill them and set up against Pokemon like Clefable. Clefable is also a good teammate for Keldeo; Keldeo can clear Pokemon like Excadrill away, giving Clefable more room to switch in and potentially set up, while Clefable can help Keldeo by setting up and overwhelming bulky Pokemon like Corviknight and Toxapex or even potentially provide Keldeo with a free switch-in with Teleport. Dugtrio is also a potential teammate for being able to get Pokemon like Toxapex and Clefable into range for Keldeo to revenge kill. Finally, thanks to its resistance to Dark, Pokemon such as Dragapult and Aegislash appreciate Keldeo keeping Pokemon like Hydreigon and Tyranitar on their toes.

I'd like to see this as the set instead. There's really no need to drop Secret Sword for Focus Blast ever, as it is much more reliable and Focus Blast doesn't pick up any important KOes anyways. Toxic is generally prefered to Icy Wind because it's a good mid-ground against Pokemon like Sylveon, Kommo-o, and Mantine.

[SET COMMENTS]
Keldeo's naturally high Special Attack alongside its high Speed tier makes it a very effective and threatening Choice Specs user in OU, able to dismantle many walls and defensive cores. Hydro Pump is incredibly hard to switch into for many defensive Pokemon; Corviknight and Clefable are 2HKOed by it. For Pokemon that can switch into Hydro Pump, such as Ferrothorn and Seismitoad, Secret Sword makes it very risky for them to switch in. However, Focus Blast can be used instead for much more power in exchange for reliability; for example, Secret Sword 3HKOes Seismitoad, while Focus Blast has a chance to OHKO it. Since Hydro Pump and Secret Sword already can do a lot of damage to the move's targets, Icy Wind benefits Keldeo by being an overall safer option for most switch-ins; additionally, the Speed drop it provides allows it to safely 2HKO Dragapult and Choice Scarf Rotom-C. What does being an overall safer option mean? Are you implying that it's a good middleground play? Because it's not. It barely does damage. Scald is used to confirm KOs without risking missing with Keldeo's other moves. Maximum Speed investment alongside a Timid nature grants Keldeo an excellent Speed tier, outspeeding the likes of Hydreigon and Kyurem and OHKOing them with ease.

Make sure to shuffle the moves around and include Toxic.

Toxapex fully counters Keldeo, as it can easily shrug off all of Keldeo's moves thanks to its typing and Recover. As such, Dugtrio makes for an excellent partner, easily taking care of Toxapex and clearing the roadblock to use Keldeo much more liberally. Dugtrio being an excellent partner is honestly an understatement. It's practically mandatory alongside Choice Specs Keldeo. Additionally, Dugtrio can soften or outright revenge kill certain Pokemon like Clefable and Sylveon that can avoid getting OHKOed by Keldeo and retaliate back. In general, bulky Fairy-types like the ones mentioned before as well as Primarina and Togekiss can be an annoyance for Keldeo, especially if it's already Choice-locked; Steel-types like Aegislash, Jirachi, and Ferrothorn can help to keep these Pokemon under pressure and potentially weaken them for Keldeo to simply clean up. None of these Steel-types are good checks to Primarina. However, all of them must be cautious of potential Fire-type coverage from all of them but Primarina. Not having to be wary of Fire-type coverage from Primarina doesn't really matter when they can't deal with Primarina anyways. You'll need to work on the given examples.

Same reasoning as the Choice Specs set for everything; there's no need for Focus Blast and Toxic is generally prefered to Icy Wind because of the Pokemon it can cripple.

[SET COMMENTS]
By enhancing its already above average Speed with a Choice Scarf, Keldeo is able to outspeed nearly the entire metagame, outspeeding notable Pokemon like Dugtrio, Dragapult, and Zeraora. Outspeeding Dugtrio isn't very notable in practice. Use another example like Adamant Cloyster or +1 Excadrill instead. Hydro Pump is overall Keldeo's strongest option for a move, grabbing KOs on weakened Pokemon such as Aegislash and Clefable while simply keeping Pokemon out like Cinderace and Choice Scarf Rotom-H due its Speed. Secret Sword allows Keldeo to do decent damage to Water-immune Pokemon such as Seismitoad and Gastrodon as well as bulky Steel-types like Ferrothorn while also being an option to revenge kill Pokemon like Hydeigon and Rotom-C. Focus Blast is a possible alternative if you want Keldeo to do more damage, but damage would often not matter due to Keldeo's main targets being already weakened Pokemon. Icy Wind is Keldeo best option against Dragapult and is overall a safe move to use in a prediction, since it hits most of what its STAB move already hit. Icy Wind really isn't a good midground play because it barely does damage. Scald is primarily used for when the foe is low enough to get KOed by it without the need of risking missing with Hydro Pump.

By opting to use a Choice Scarf, Keldeo get can walled by Pokemon with enough bulk and a useful recovery, such as Clefable and especially Toxapex. Dugtrio is a fantastic choice of a partner because of this, severely weakening such Pokemon enough for Keldeo to revenge kill or outright KOing some of them to give Keldeo some breathing room. Since Keldeo appreciates the foe being worn down enough to safely revenge kill, entry hazard setters such as Ferrothorn and Clefable and Toxic users such as Toxapex and Aegislash help to get the foe into range for Keldeo to do so.

This kind of misses the point of Choice Scarf Keldeo. You should absolutely focus on what kind of teams Choice Scarf Keldeo fits best on; it fits best on bulky offensive and balance teams that are looking for a Dark-resistant Choice Scarf user that can deal with Pokemon like Cloyster and Excadrill.

Keldeo's naturally high Special Attack alongside its high Speed tier makes it a very effective and threatening Choice Specs user in OU, able to dismantle many walls and defensive cores. Scald is able to help Keldeo revenge kill without risking Hydro Pump missing. Its use is not limited to revenge killing. More often than not, you'll want to use Scald because it's a much safer option compared to Hydro Pump, and doesn't miss out on a lot of 2HKOes. Hydro Pump, however, is incredibly hard to switch into for many defensive Pokemon; Corviknight and Clefable are 2HKOed by it. Corviknight and Clefable can be 2HKOed by other moves, specify specially defensive Clefable and just that it lets Keldeo kil Pokemon from a higher range. For Pokemon that can switch into Hydro Pump Keldeo's Water-type STAB moves, such as Ferrothorn and Seismitoad, Secret Sword makes it very risky for them to switch in. Toxic is a good middle ground against Pokemon like Sylveon, Kommo-o, and Mantine that don't take as much damage from Keldeo's moves, crippling them in the long run. Bulky Water-types that don't take as much from Secret Sword such as Primarina and Mantine as well as the aforementioned Toxapex are also troublesome for Keldeo, so teammates such as Zeraora and Toxtricity can help to circumvent this bane. Toxtricity is bad. Use another example like Rotom-C instead.

Dugtrio is a required partner because of this, severely weakening such Pokemon enough for Keldeo to revenge kill or outright KOing some of them to give Keldeo some breathing room. This is outright wrong. You are not going to be using Choice Scarf Keldeo to break down teams; you are using it for its utility as a Choice Scarf user. When using Choice Scarf Keldeo, you are not expecting it to break down teams like Choice Specs Keldeo. Dugtrio is by no means mandatory. Cloyster is never going to set up in front of Rotom-H; there is no opportunity to pivot with Keldeo into Cloyster with Rotom-H. Clefable is also a good teammate for Keldeo; Keldeo can clear Pokemon like Excadrill away, giving Clefable more room to switch in and potentially set up, while Clefable can help Keldeo by setting up and overwhelming or potentially KOing bulky Pokemon like Toxapex if it runs Thunderbolt, Ferrothorn if its runs Flamethrower, and Corviknight if it runs either.
