[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to its excellent ability and amazing Attack stat, Komala is a great Pokemon in the ZU metagame, especially since its access to a powerful STAB move in Return and good coverage moves like Earthquake and Knock Off makes it quite a nuisance to switch into. Utility moves like U-turn, Rapid Spin, Toxic, and Wish also allow it to offer a variety of support to its team, which is bolstered by good special bulk combined with only a single weakness, making it challenging to take down. In addition, setup moves like Bulk Up and Swords Dance allow it to break through Pokemon that otherwise wall it and add to its already incredible versatility and unpredictability. Komala especially excels at beating defensive builds thanks to its immunity to status because of Comatose.

Unfortunately, Komala suffers from underwhelming Speed and low physical bulk, leaving it to easily succumb to offensive pressure and causing it to struggle against more offensive builds. The very common Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL is also hard for Komala to break through, although it can be worn down with repeated uses of U-turn. Lastly, Komala faces some competition from other Normal-types like Bouffalant, Kecleon, and Lickilicky, though its status immunity and great movepool mean that it generally outshines them.

Moves

Earthquake hits the Rock- and Steel-types that resist Return very hard, notably 2HKOing physically defensive Golem and Mawile and OHKOing Probopass. Knock Off is Komala's strongest move to hit Ghost-types like Dusclops, as well as Bronzor, which is 2HKOed even if it is physically defensive. Knock Off also offers crucial utility in removing Eviolite from Pokemon like Tangela, allowing them to be more easily broken through later. U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL. Sucker Punch is an option over Knock Off to give Komala a form of priority, which helps in the matchup against offensive teams, but it leaves Komala completely walled by Pokemon like Bronzor and is thus usually inferior to Knock Off.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently Speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option, as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake after Sturdy is broken.

Usage Tips
========

Focus on switching Komala in on passive Pokemon it heavily threatens, like Mareanie and Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team. Notably, it is capable on coming in for free on those Pokemon, as well as others like Pyukumuku and Tangela, thanks to Comatose. Otherwise, use U-turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to switch Komala in. Its bulk isn't great without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is ill-advised. Early-game, it is often useful to utilize Komala's U-turn to generate momentum for its team and wear down its switch-ins. Otherwise, it will be tough to break through the likes of physically defensive Golem without flawless predictions. Knock Off can be used in a similar manner, removing useful items like Leftovers and Eviolite from its checks.

Team Options
========

Komala's matchup against offensive teams is far from great, so fast attackers that can threaten the archetype like Floatzel, Rapidash, and Kadabra are very important. Pokemon like Oricorio-F, Silvally formes, and Electivire that can bring in Komala with moves like U-turn and Volt Switch synergize very well with it, especially if they can lure in Pokemon it can threaten. Since Komala forces a lot of switches, hazard setters like Golem, Bronzor, Crustle, and Probopass are important. Probopass also notably traps opposing Steel-types like Bronzor, allowing Komala to spam Return more easily. Komala tends to be forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for them is crucial; as such, using a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala.

Thanks to Comatose, Komala is the only viable Rapid Spin user in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, which allows it to prevent its team from becoming poisoned. If Komala's team already has hazard removal, then Bulk Up is an alternative over Rapid Spin, turning Komala into a bulky setup sweeper that can take over games late-game thanks to it being immune to Toxic, which would be common counterplay otherwise. Knock Off is the only offensive move on the set. It offers great utility in removing items and nothing is immune to it, ensuring Komala is rarely completely dead weight against any Pokemon. Knock Off also allows Komala to consistently beat Bronzor, which a very common Stealth Rock setter, and thus allows it to spin with ease. Toxic is an option over Knock Off if Rapid Spin is chosen in the first slot to punish Pokemon like Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL, which can spinblock Komala with ease otherwise, and Silvally-Fighting, both of which take little damage from Knock Off and either do not mind having or cannot have their item removed. However, it leaves Komala completely passive once the opposing Pokemon has been badly poisoned and makes it a free switch-in for Pokemon immune to Toxic, like Mareanie, Probopass, Muk, and opposing Komala. Protect allows Komala to be sure to receive its own Wish and helps it scout Choice item users, like Electivire and opposing Komala.

Set Details
========

This EV spread makes the most use of Komala's solid natural special bulk to check a variety of special attackers in the tier like Choice Scarf Chatot and Silvally-Dragon. In addition, if Komala is running Bulk Up, it can already boost its Defense, meaning further investment is unnecessary.

Usage Tips
========

This Komala set should focus on using its solid special bulk to answer powerful special attackers like Choice Scarf Chatot and Silvally-Dragon. It should be pivoting in and out often, using Wish to keep itself healthy and Knock Off to take on Bronzor and prevent itself from being a free switch-in for attackers that threaten it. If you're running Rapid Spin, switch Komala into entry hazard setters that rely on special attacks or status, like Roselia and Mareanie, to remove their hazards immediately; thanks to Komala's impressive special bulk and its ability Comatose, it can do so quite freely. If using Bulk Up, Komala should generally be kept healthy until late-game. Although it can still be used to pivot into special attackers, a healthy Komala can set up on many special attackers and passive Pokemon, like Altaria and Zebstrika, and sweep from there. Be careful around mixed attackers or ones that can run either physical or special sets, such as Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire; while this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in.

Team Options
========

Due to Komala's lackluster physical bulk, it pairs well with Pokemon that can efficiently cover many attackers that target Defense, like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Altaria, Granbull, and physically defensive Golem. The former three also cover Komala's sole weakness in Fighting, while the latter provides Stealth Rock, forming a solid hazard control core. Other checks to Fighting-types like Mareanie and Muk also pair well to take care of Komala's worst type matchup. They also notably cover Silvally-Fighting, which is one of the best switch-ins to Knock Off. Spikes setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala removing entry hazards from their side of the field without removing the ones they set like a Defogger would.

Moves
========

Knock Off covers the Pokemon immune to Return, notably allows Komala to beat one of the premier Stealth Rock setters in Bronzor, and offers valuable utility in removing items. Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, notably allowing Komala to beat Pokemon like Probopass, thus preventing them from setting Stealth Rock easily, but without a boosting item it's not strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile, and the Pokemon it does already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off. U-turn allows Komala to pivot, which synergizes well with an Assault Vest to easily switch in and out and generate a lot of momentum with its increased bulk. Sucker Punch can be used over the coverage move or Rapid Spin if the priority is needed, but it is weak without a boosting item and leaves Komala either walled by many Pokemon, namely those targeted by Knock Off or Earthquake, or unable to provide the excellent hazard control it is known for.

Set Details
========

An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good Special Defense, allowing it to easily take special attacks. For example, it does not get OHKOed by Floatzel's All-Out Pummeling from Focus Blast after Stealth Rock and avoids the 2HKO from Choice Scarf Chatot's Boomburst. 96 Speed EVs allow Komala to outspeed offensive Golem, enabling to U-turn out before it can retaliate, thus breaking its Sturdy and generating momentum if the opponent decides to double switch.

Usage Tips
========

This set should focus on generating and keeping up momentum and offensive pressure. However, do not be afraid to switch in on special attackers that it can take hits from, such as Chatot and Silvally-Dragon, before removing entry hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. Due to the low Speed investment on this set, Komala's U-turn will usually happen after the foe moves, allowing Komala to bring in strong wallbreakers like Mr. Mime and Pinsir without forcing them to take damage. While Return, Knock Off, and Earthquake won't be the moves you use the most, they are still very strong, and your opponent will have to keep them in mind; look for opportunities to wear down your opponent's team. Remember that Komala is completely immune to every status; do not be afraid to switch into Toxic users that are unable to dent Komala otherwise, such as Bronzor and Mareanie.

Team Options
========

Teammates like Gourgeist-XL, Golem, Tangela, and physically defensive Altaria can cover Komala's lower Defense stat. Gourgeist-XL and Altaria also cover Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting, while Golem forms a solid hazard control core with it. Since Komala is a slow pivot, frail wallbreakers that appreciate being brought in without taking damage like Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support, especially since each of them can beat or set up on Gourgeist-XL and the Rock-types that Komala lures in. Spikes setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing entry hazards without undoing their work. Depending on what coverage move is chosen, Pokemon that can deal with the Pokemon Komala loses to are appreciated; Knock Off variants enjoy support from Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting that can threaten Probopass, while Earthquake variants appreciate the likes of Silvally-Dark and Probopass to beat Bronzor.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Komala can run a set consisting of Swords Dance, Return, Wood Hammer, and Knock Off with Grassium Z to heavily threaten common stall teams, as they lack a good answer for it due to Bloom Doom breaking through stall's most common answer to set up sweepers in Pyukumuku. However, due to a lack of setup opportunities, this set has a very lackluster matchup against offense, even moreso than its other sets, making it very matchup reliant. To relieve that issue, Sucker Punch can be used over Knock Off, but that leaves Komala unable to remove items from Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL and stallbreak. Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk is successful even though Komala is immune to sleep. As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140-Base Power STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entirely walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always inferior to the standard Choice Band set. In addition, Choice Band Reckless Head Charge Bouffalant hits about as hard as Last Resort while being able to fit on moves like Earthquake, making it a superior choice as well. Superpower is an option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set in order to still threaten Golem and Probopass while not letting Bronzor come in for free, but the stat drops make it usually a worse option. Lastly, a physically defensive variant with Wish / Protect / Rapid Spin / Toxic allows Komala to beat non-Choice Band Golem and thus remove its Stealth Rock. However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is lacking, it is unable to check many physical attackers, especially Fighting-types, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Gourgeist-XL:**: Gourgeist-XL is immune to Komala's STAB moves and easily takes its Earthquakes while also easily taking Knock Off thanks to Colbur Berry. However, it must be wary of Toxic and Bulk Up on the defensive set and can be worn down by U-turn.

**Fighting-types**: While they can't switch in for fear of Choice Band Return, Silvally-Fighting and Monferno both outspeed any Komala set and can revenge kill it with ease. Combusken can do something similar, although it needs a Speed Boost first.

**Faster Physical Attackers**: Pokemon such as Electivire, Floatzel, and Pinsir can all take out Komala from full or after minor chip due to Komala's lacking Defense stat.

  • Return is Komala's STAB move of choice, chosed over Double-Edge for the lack of recoil, as Komala gets worn down too easily otherwise. Notably, Return will usually 2HKO physically defensive Pyukumuku after Stealth Rock, even if it has Leftovers.
  • Earthquake hits the Rock- and Steel-types that resist Return very hard, notably 2HKOing physically defensive Golem and Mawile and OHKOing Probopass.
  • Knock Off is Komala's strongest move to hit Ghost-types like Gourgeist-XL, though it won't be 2HKOed even after Colbur Berry is removed, as well as Bronzor, which is 2HKOed even if it is physically defensive. • U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL.
Set Details
========
  • Choice Band is crucial to allow Komala to utilize its immense Attack stat to break very effectively.
  • Comatose is Komala's only ability, but it is notable for making it immune to Toxic and burns, allowing it to freely switch into Pokemon like Altaria, Pyukumuku, and Mareanie.
  • 252 EVs into both Attack and Speed maximize Komala's offensive potential.
  • A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake and 2HKO specially defensive Bronzor with Return after its Eviolite has been removed and it has taken Stealth Rock damage.
Usage Tips
========
  • Komala has a massive Attack stat and when paired with a Choice Band and a strong STAB move in Return, this allows it to punch holes through anything that doesn't resist it and this should be utilized. Focus on getting Komala in on Pokemon it heavily threatens, like non-Scarf Abomasnow, Mareanie, or Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team.
  • Thanks to Comatose, Komala can switch in for free on some Pokemon that rely only on status and weak attacks to threaten switch-ins. Examples include Mareanie, Smeargle, Altaria, Pyukumuku, and Tangela.
  • Otherwise, Komala will rely on moves like U-turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to be brought in. Its bulk isn't great without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is ill-advised.
  • Early game, it is often useful to utilize Komala's U-turn to generate momentum for its team and wear down its switch-ins. Otherwise, it will be tough to break through the likes of Gourgeist-XL and physically defensive Golem without flawless predictions. • Pursuit trappers like Silvally-Dark can do something similar, instead threatening Ghost-types like Gourgeist-XL. While it won't go down to a Pursuit, it will take a significant chunk, allowing Komala to break it later.
  • Komala tends to get forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for those is crucial. Forming a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala.

However, it leaves Komala completely passive once the foe has been Toxiced and makes it a free switch-in for Pokemon immune to Toxic, like Mareanie, Probopass, Muk, and opposing Komala.
  • Wish is Komala's only form of recovery and ensures that it remains healthy throughout the game. It also notably allows it to heal up teammates that lack recovery, like Silvally formes or Golem.
  • Protect allows Komala to be sure to receive its own Wish and helps it scout against Choice item users, like Electivire and opposing Komala.
  • Rapid Spin is crucial utility for Komala's team, removing hazards like Stealth Rock and thus allowing its team to switch more freely. It's worth noting that Komala is the only Rapid Spinner in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from getting Poisoned very easily.
  • Bulk Up is an alternative for the last slot if Komala's team already offers hazard removal. It turns it into a bulky setup sweeper that can take over games late-game thanks to it being unable to be worn down by Toxic, which would be common counterplay otherwise.
Set Details
========
  • Leftovers gives Komala a form of passive recovery, which also synergizes nicely with Protect.
  • While Comatose is the only choice for ability Komala has, being completely immune to status is excellent for this defensive set, making it that much harder to take down.
  • Since Komala's physical bulk is too low to be utilized effectively, this EV spread and nature aims to exemplify its solid special bulk, allowing it to take on a wide variety of special attackers.
Usage Tips
========
  • This Komala set should focus on using its solid special bulk to answer powerful special attackers like Kadabra and Silvally-Water.
  • Most of the time, Komala should be using Knock Off to put pressure on the opponent's team. It is often quite annoying to be forced to switch into the move as many Pokemon rely on their item.
  • Wish should often be used on a prediction. Because of the extra turn it takes, it won't heal Komala before even a slower foe attacks, which means you must be ready to use it in time.
  • Usually, Protect should be used to guarantee the heal from Wish, but if you are certain that you can take the hit, it may be beneficial to use Knock Off in order to avoid giving your opponent a free turn.
  • It can also be used to scout Pokemon that commonly carry a Choice item, such as Electivire, in order to make switching in more easily.
  • If you're running Rapid Spin, it is very worthwile to switch Komala into hazard setters that rely on special attacks or status, like Roselia and Mareanie, to remove their hazards immediately. Thanks to Komala's impressive special bulk and its ability Comatose, it can do so quite freely.

  • Pokemon that lack recovery like Golem and Silvally formes appreciate Komala's ability to heal them with Wish. They also tend to not appreciate status, so Komala absorbing it with ease is quite nice for them.

Moves
========
  • Return is Komala's STAB move of choice, allowing it to pressure the opponent's team while not wearing itself down with recoil.
  • Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move as it covers the Pokemon immune to Return and offers valuable utility.
  • Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, allowing Komala to threaten Pokemon like Probopass and offensive Golem, but without a boosting it's not quite strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile and the Pokemon it does it already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off.
  • Rapid Spin is crucial utility for any team, removing hazards to allow Komala's team much more freedom in its switches.
  • U-turn allows Komala to pivot in and out, which synergizes well with an Assault Vest to easily switch in and out and generate a lot of momentum.
Mention Sucker Punch somewhere under moves somewhere as it is a viable option on this set (no need to slash however)
Set Details
========
  • An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good special defense, allowing it to easily take special hits. For example, it does not get OHKOed by Floatzel's All-Out Pummeling from Focus Blast after Stealth Rock and avoids the 2HKO from Choice Scarf Chatot's Boomburst.
  • Comatose allows Komala to avoid to most common flaw in Assault Vest users, as it can't get worn down by status.
  • 96 Speed EVs allow Komala to outspeed offensive Golem, enabling to U-turn out before it can retaliate, thus breaking its Sturdy and generating momentum if the opponent decides to double switch.
  • Maximum Attack EVs and an Adamant nature ensure Komala pressures the opposing team as much as possible.
Usage Tips
========
  • This set should focus on switching in on special attackers that it can take hits from, such as Chatot and Kadabra, before removing hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. The focus should be on generating and keeping momentum.
  • While Return, Knock Off, and Earthquake won't be the moves you use the most, they are still very strong and your opponent will have to keep them in mind. Look for opportunities to put pressure on your opponent by threatening to break through a wall with ease.
  • Remember that Komala is completely immune to every status; do not be afraid to switch into Toxic users, as they will often be unable to dent Komala otherwise. Examples include Altaria and Mareanie.
  • Do not attempt to switch into physical attackers; Komala's physical defense is very underwhelming and it should thus rely on its teammates to take care of that side of the spectrum. In the same vein, Komala should not attempt to remove hazards from the likes of Golem and Crustle as soon as they are set, as the damage it will take in return is generally not worth it.
Mention a bit more explicitly how Komala provides a slow U-turn to allow powerful breakers to come in safely.
Team Options
========
  • Teammates like Gourgeist-XL, Golem, Tangela, and physically defensive Altaria can cover Komala's weaker defense. Gourgeist-XL and Altaria also cover Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting while Golem forms a solid hazard core with it.
  • Since Komala will be pivoting in and out a lot, frail wallbreakers that appreciate being brought in for free, like Mr. Mime, Life Orb Kadabra, Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support.
  • Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing hazards without also undoing their work.

  • Komala can run a set consisting of Swords Dance, Return, Wood Hammer, and Knock Off with Grassium Z to heavily threaten common stall teams, as they lack a good answer for it. However, this sad has a very lackluster matchup against offense, even moreso than its other set, making it very matchup reliant. To relieve that issue, Sucker Punch can be used over Knock Off, but that leaves Komala unable to remove items and hurt Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, nerfing its matchup against stall.
Mention that this set is able to break stall BECAUSE with Grassium Z + Wood Hammer it breaks through Stall's most common answer to setup in Pyukumuku.
  • Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk works even though Komala is immune to the sleep status. As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140 BP STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entire walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always inferior to the standard Choice Band set.
  • Superpower is an option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set in order to still threaten Golem and Probopass while not letting Bronzor come in for free, but the stat drops and inability to significantly dent Mawile make it usually a worse option.
  • Wood Hammer is another option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set to ensure the OHKO on physically defensive Golem, but it sacrifices coverage against Probopass and Mawile and is thus generally not worth it.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Bulky Ghost-types**: The likes of Gourgeist-XL, Dusclops, and Dusknoir are immune to Komala's STAB moves and easily take its Earthquakes. While Dusclops and Dusknoir do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off, Gourgeist-XL also circumvents that by running Colbur Berry and both it and Dusclops do not take much from it. However, all three of them must be wary of the rare Toxic and can easily get U-turned out of.

**Fighting-types**: While they can't switch in for fear of getting OHKOed by Choice Band Return, Silvally-Fighting and Monferno both outspeed any Komala set and can revenge kill it with ease. Combusken can do something similar, although it needs a Speed Boost first.

**Fast physical attackers**: Physical Electivire, physical Floatzel, Pinsir, and Dugtrio-Alola can all take out Komala from full or after minor chip. Choice Specs Mr. Mime and Life Orb Kadabra can also heavily threaten it with Psyshock.

  • While it faces some competition from other Normal-types like Bouffalant and Kecleon, Komala's status immunity, access to U-turn, Knock Off, Rapid Spin, and Wish, and superior Attack stat means that it generally outclasses them this isn't why considering cb bouffalant, a certainly viable set in its own right, still outclasses it in sheer power thanks to reckless head charge. it's just that komala's movepool and attributes are more effective for it in the meta which is why it consistently outshines them (it's not needed to list moves, just referencing that particular point works fine).
this is really informative. it's just that much of it involves fluff that talks a lot about the moves it has and their purposes but not so much into why i'd use komala specifically over anything else that have these options. that said, cutting it down to the core points (movepool, set versatility [support, wallbreaking, pivoting], comatose, followed by general flaws) would be best

Moves
========
  • Return is Komala's STAB move of choice, chosed over Double-Edge for the lack of recoil, as Komala gets worn down too easily otherwise. Notably, Return will usually 2HKO physically defensive Pyukumuku after Stealth Rock, even if it has Leftovers. komala does not learn d-edge. other than that, this point is considered fluff
It also offers crucial utility in remove Eviolites from Pokemon like Tangela and Gabite, allowing them to be more easily broken later. it's not for xl, as you had already specified later. knock can mention hitting mons resisting/immune to both return/eq, but the emphasis should mainly be the eviolite users that komala would struggle to break otherwise. gabite is also usually 2hkoed by return majority of the time.
  • Sucker Punch is an option over Knock Off to give Komala a form of priority, which helps in the matchup against offensive teams, but it leaves it completely walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL bronzor and is thus usually inferior to Knock Off.
  • U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL.
Set Details
========
  • A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake and 2HKO specially defensive Bronzor with Return after its Eviolite has been removed and it has taken Stealth Rock damage i don't think it's relevant to make the point about bronzor, since after its item is removed in the first place it's basically a dead bronzor eiher way or at least in most relevant ways.
Usage Tips
========
  • Komala has a massive Attack stat and when paired with a Choice Band and a strong STAB move in Return, this allows it to punch holes through anything that doesn't resist it and this should be utilized. saying what it does isn't really related to how to use it, and it seems the following sentence gets the point across already while also speaking about what the opp needs to do Focus on getting Komala in on Pokemon it heavily threatens, like non-Scarf Abomasnow komala isn't really a switch in on a set that's not utilizing its bulk in any way, Mareanie, or Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team.
  • Thanks to Comatose, Komala can switch in for free on some Pokemon that rely only on status and weak attacks to threaten switch-ins. Examples include Mareanie, Smeargle, Altaria, Pyukumuku, and Tangela this is pretty much restating the previous point bar the mentioning of comatose. perhaps you may consider restructuring these points by prefacing when it can use comatose, followed by a separate point describing how it should play in mus where it can't use it as effectively and thus must rely on pivoting.
Knock Off can be used in a similar manner, removing useful items like Colbur Berry it isn't exactly beneficial in xl's case, so that isn't necessarily true, Leftovers, and Eviolite from its checks.
Team Options
========
  • Komala's matchup against offensive teams is far from great, so fast attackers that can threaten the archetype are very important. Examples include Floatzel, Rapidash, and Kadabra.
  • Pokemon that can bring in Komala with moves like U-turn and Volt Switch synergize very well with it, especially if they can lure in Pokemon it can threaten, so Oricorio, Silvally-Water this can be referenced as silvally formes in general since most pair decently well with it, and Electivire are good teammates.
  • Since Komala forces a lot of switches, Stealth Rock setters like Golem, Bronzor, and Probopass are important. Probopass also notably traps opposing Steel-types like Bronzor, allowing Komala to spam its Return more easily.
  • Pursuit trappers like Silvally-Dark can do something similar, instead threatening Ghost-types like Gourgeist-XL. While it won't go down to a Pursuit, it will take a significant chunk, allowing Komala to break it later. unfortunately darkvally isn't reliable for taking on xl at all, let alone trying to trap it: 252 Atk Silvally-Dark Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 150-176 (40.1 - 47%) -- guaranteed 3HKO. not only is multi-attack stronger than pursuit on a switch, but this is assuming that colbur is already removed.
  • Komala tends to get forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for those is crucial. Forming a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala.

i'd reorder this to spin/bu as move 1 given that those moves dictate the entire set's niche. knock off and toxic should be 2nd afterwards, followed by wishtect.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Knock Off is the only offensive move on the set. It offers great utility in removing items and nothing is immune to it, ensuring Komala is very rarely complete deadweight against a certain Pokemon. utility yes, but the primary emphasis should be about bronzor since it spins in that mu
  • Toxic is an option over Knock Off, if Rapid Spin is chosen in the last slot, to punish Pokemon like Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL and Silvally-Fighting, which take minimal damage from Knock Off and either do not mind or can't have their item removed. However, it leaves Komala completely passive once the foe has been Toxiced and makes it a free switch-in for Pokemon immune to Toxic, like Mareanie, Probopass, Muk, and opposing Komala. i think this point should do a bit more to emphasize that it lets you get past gourg-xl, the most difficult spinblocker to punish otherwise. bulk knock off beats xl too but on the spinning aspect of things, toxic is required.
  • Wish is Komala's only form of recovery and ensures that it remains healthy throughout the game. It also notably allows it to heal up teammates that lack recovery, like Silvally formes or Golem. leftovers is the other form, it's just that wish allow it to preserve itself. it's not necessary to mention teammates, since this isn't team options and this is the type of support that benefits anything in the right scenario
  • Protect allows Komala to be sure to receive its own Wish and helps it scout against Choice item users, like Electivire and opposing Komala. it also stalls for extra toxic turns and racks up leftovers recovery
  • Rapid Spin is crucial utility for Komala's team, removing hazards like Stealth Rock and thus allowing its team to switch more freely. It's worth noting that Komala is the only Rapid Spinner in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from getting Poisoned very easily. it's only relevant to compress info about spin with knock/toxic/comatose+spin by talking about how they're relevant in those contexts. otherwise, going into detail about the general info is fluff
  • Bulk Up is an alternative for the last slot if Komala's team already offers hazard removal. It turns it into a bulky setup sweeper that can take over games late-game thanks to it being unable to be worn down by Toxic, which would be common counterplay otherwise.
Set Details
========
  • Since Komala's physical bulk is too low to be utilized effectively, this EV spread and nature aims to exemplify its solid special bulk, allowing it to take on a wide variety of special attackers. (this bit makes it sound like the bad phys def is why it's running spdef which isn't necessarily true. it's more that there's a bigger leeway in being able to use its natural bulk to check special attackers than the other side, and because it works best alongside bulk up boosts)
Usage Tips
========
  • This Komala set should focus on using its solid special bulk to answer powerful special attackers like Kadabra and Silvally-Water komala can't attack kadabra safely due to the threat of counter and silv-w is not what i'd call a powerful special attacker. something like scarf chatot and silv-dragon seem more accurate.
  • Most of the time, Komala should be using Knock Off to put pressure on the opponent's team. It is often quite annoying to be forced to switch into the move as many Pokemon rely on their item. it's more that it should be using it to take on bronzor as a rock setter/take advantage of offensive mons that try to capitalize on this set's more defensive nature. otherwise, the way this set is played is mainly going to be pivoting into special attackers that it helps to provide refuge against, passing wishes if possible, scouting and otherwise spinning
  • Wish should often be used on a prediction. Because of the extra turn it takes, it won't heal Komala before even a slower foe attacks, which means you must be ready to use it in time. points like this kind of borders on fluff
  • Usually, Protect should be used to guarantee the heal from Wish, but if you are certain that you can take the hit, it may be beneficial to use Knock Off in order to avoid giving your opponent a free turn. in scenarios where ur trying to avoid free turns you would usually respond by either going for protect to scout either way or by switching into a check to the threat, which is made easier by the guaranteed recovery on the switch-in after
  • It can also be used to scout Pokemon that commonly carry a Choice item, such as Electivire, in order to make switching in more easily. this point can easily be merged w/ the protect point
  • If you're running Rapid Spin, it is very worthwile to switch Komala into hazard setters that rely on special attacks or status, like Roselia and Mareanie, to remove their hazards immediately. Thanks to Komala's impressive special bulk and its ability Comatose, it can do so quite freely. this point is more appropriately merged with points about knock off and toxic
  • If using Bulk Up, Komala should generally be kept healthy until the late-game. It can set up on many special attackers and passive Pokemon, like Altaria and Zebstrika, and sweep from there. this kind of reads like the "save until late-game" mentality. bulk up variants can still be really good for positioning, scouting, and passing wishes throughout the majority of the game if applicable
  • Be careful around mixed or versatile attackers like Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire. While this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in.
Team Options
========
  • Due to Komala's lackluster physical bulk, it pairs well with Pokemon that can efficiently cover many attackers that target defense, like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Altaria, Tangela doesn't seem to be an explanation given on this, and gourg is more suited either way. you could also mention granbull, who particularly fares well against pinsir and absorbs knock off reliably from most things bar pawniard, and physically defensive Golem. The former two also cover Komala's sole weakness in Fighting while the latter provides Stealth Rock, forming a solid hazard control core.
  • Other checks to Fighting-types like Mareanie and Kadabra also pair well to take care of Komala's worst type matchup. They also notably cover Silvally-Fighting, which is the best switch-in to Knock Off in ZU this point is debatable.
  • Pokemon that lack recovery like Golem and Silvally formes appreciate Komala's ability to heal them with Wish. They also tend to not appreciate status, so Komala absorbing it with ease is quite nice for them. golem is already mentioned and unless there can be explanation on how any particular users benefit komala rather than the other way around, this point isn't very useful to keep. i'm skeptical about this either way since wish passing generally benefits anything.
  • Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala removing hazards from their side of the field without removing the ones they set like a Defogger would. is there anything to note in the perspective of them helping komala?

Moves
========
  • Return is Komala's STAB move of choice, allowing it to pressure the opponent's team while not wearing itself down with recoil.
  • Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move as it covers the Pokemon immune to Return and offers valuable utility. less about the utility and more about the emphasis in deterring bronzor's rocks, so it should be talked about more in that sense
  • Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, allowing Komala to threaten Pokemon like Probopass and offensive Golem, but without a boosting it's not quite strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile and the Pokemon it does it already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off. it's fine to talk about other eq weak targets, but probo should be the primary reference since it's the main hazard user who this affects the spin match up against the most.
  • U-turn allows Komala to pivot in and out, which synergizes well with an Assault Vest to easily switch in and out and generate a lot of momentum.
  • Sucker Punch can be used over the coverage move or Rapid Spin if the priority is needed, but it is weak without a boosting item and leaves Komala either walled by many Pokemon or unable to provide the excellent hazard control it is known for. i don't think this is worth giving up the utility that makes the av set function
Set Details
========
  • An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good special defense, allowing it to easily take special hits. For example, it does not get OHKOed by Floatzel's All-Out Pummeling from Focus Blast after Stealth Rock and avoids the 2HKO from Choice Scarf Chatot's Boomburst. most of this is fluff barring the relevant damage calcs, although fight-z special floatzel isn't really relevant
  • 96 Speed EVs allow Komala to outspeed offensive Golem, enabling to U-turn out before it can retaliate, thus breaking its Sturdy and generating momentum if the opponent decides to double switch.
Usage Tips
========
  • This set should focus on switching in on special attackers that it can take hits from, such as Chatot and Kadabra not a fan of the frequent kadabra mentions since the analysis is starting to read as if kadabra is extremely prevalent, which is not the case, before removing hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. The focus should be on generating and keeping momentum.
  • Due to the low Speed investment on this set, Komala's U-turn will generally go after the foe moves, allowing Komala to bring in strong breakers like Mr. Mime and Pinsir for free.
these two points are more so secondary points rather than primary points. the main purpose of this set is momentum and offensive presence while being a spinner, so the usage tips should be prefaced more so in that direction. after than i think these points are fine.
  • While Return, Knock Off, and Earthquake won't be the moves you use the most, they are still very strong and your opponent will have to keep them in mind. Look for opportunities to put pressure on your opponent by threatening to break through a wall with ease. the last part is disingenuous since this set isn't a 'wallbreaker'
  • Remember that Komala is completely immune to every status; do not be afraid to switch into Toxic users, as they will often be unable to dent Komala otherwise. Examples include Altaria and Mareanie. bronzor's more relevant to bring up than alt given it's a hazard user
  • Do not attempt to switch into physical attackers; Komala's physical defense is very underwhelming and it should thus rely on its teammates to take care of that side of the spectrum. In the same vein, Komala should not attempt to remove hazards from the likes of Golem and Crustle as soon as they are set, as the damage it will take in return is generally not worth it. the point has already been made well enough thanks to the overview clarifying it. it would be better to talk about who it should find opportunities to sin against exactly, such as special attackers, passive mons, and pokemon with the appropriate coverage move komala beats it with.
Team Options
========
Mime, Life Orb Kadabra, Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support. i wouldn't mention examples unless they also support komala in some way while taking advantage of the u-turns. life orb kadabra isn't really a thing especially when fast attackers like floatzel run rampant, but you could reference how pinsir breaks through probopass while also punishing gourgeist with +2 z move. chatot can set up on gourgeist, floatzel can naturally threaten the rock-types and beat geist, etc.
  • Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing hazards without also undoing their work.
certain support can be desirable depending on the 2nd move (eq variants appreciate a trapper/bronzor counterplay, knock variants value things that proactively threaten probo)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Komala can run a set consisting of Swords Dance, Return, Wood Hammer, and Knock Off with Grassium Z to heavily threaten common stall teams, as they lack a good answer for it due to Bloom Doom breaking through stall's most common answer to set up sweepers in Pyukumuku.
  • Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk works even though Komala is immune to the sleep status. As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140 BP STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entire walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always inferior to the standard Choice Band set. band bouff is also the go-to mon if you want sheer power, making it a case in which it's outclassed either way
  • Superpower is an option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set in order to still threaten Golem and Probopass while not letting Bronzor come in for free, but the stat drops and inability to significantly dent Mawile make it usually a worse option. mawile isn't really relevant, so it wouldn't really make a difference in this case. it's just that eq is drawback-free.
  • Wood Hammer is another option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set to ensure the OHKO on physically defensive Golem, but it sacrifices coverage against Probopass and Mawile and is thus generally not worth it. this should be removed as its relevance in the scenario described is rendered null thanks to sturdy
  • phys def toxic rapid spin avoids the 2hko from non-band golem and is thus useful in the context of spinning in that mu.
Checks and Counters
===================

(the likelihood of any ghost types apart from gourgeist functioning as checks is so slim and situational that just making this section about gourgeist is most appropriate. also, it's important to specify that geist loses to toxic/bulk up in support sets)

**Fighting-types**: While they can't switch in for fear of getting OHKOed by Choice Band Return, Silvally-Fighting and Monferno both outspeed any Komala set and can revenge kill it with ease. Combusken can do something similar, although it needs a Speed Boost first. silvally-fighting is never ohkoed, not even by adamant band after rocks

**Fast physical attackers** 'faster' would be more accurate, since pinsir isn't necessary 'fast': Physical Electivire, physical Floatzel, Pinsir, and Dugtrio-Alola eh, duggy-a is pretty bad rn can all take out Komala from full or after minor chip. Choice Specs Mr. Mime and Life Orb Kadabra can also heavily threaten it with Psyshock psyshock isn't necessarily a weakness so much as a tool that certain special attackers prefer to avoid letting it get free turns to threaten them. i'd probably remove this point..

SLEEPY BOI

[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to an excellent ability and an amazing Attack stat, Komala is a great Pokemon in the ZU metagame, especially since its access to a powerful STAB move in Return and good coverage moves like Earthquake and Knock Off makes it quite a nuisance to switch into. Utility moves like U-turn, Rapid Spin, Toxic, and Wish also allow it to offer a variety of support to its team, which is bolstered by good special bulk combined with only a singular weakness, which can make it very annoying to take down. In addition, setup moves like Bulk Up and Swords Dance allow it to break through things it otherwise couldn't and add to its already incredible versatility and unpredictability thanks to its highly effective movepool, especially excelling at beating down on defensive builds thanks to an immunity to status because of Comatose. This also cannot be suppressed or removed by moves like Skill Swap and Gastro Acid, making it even harder for stall builds to deal with it. (Another mention of mechanics that act as fluff. Also there is no Pokemon that run either of those moves viably and commonly. Yeah Skill Swap Kecleon and Gastro Acid Pyukumuku maybe, but even so that doesn't belong anywhere in this Overview.)

Unfortunately, Komala suffers from underwhelming Speed and low physical bulk, leaving it to easily succumb to offensive pressure and meaning it struggles against more offensive builds. The very common Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL is also hard for it to break through, although it can be worn down with continuous U-turns. Lastly, Komala faces some competition from other Normal-types like Bouffalant and Kecleon, though its status immunity and great movepool mean that it generally outshines them. (Mention competition from Lickilicky as a Specially Defensive Wish Passer and that it distinguishes itself with Bulk Up, Rapid Spin, and Comatose.)

It also offers crucial utility in remove Eviolites from Pokemon like Tangela, allowing them to be more easily broken later. Sucker Punch is an option over Knock Off to give Komala a form of priority, which helps in the matchup against offensive teams, but it leaves it completely walled by Pokemon like Bronzor and is thus usually inferior to Knock Off.(all moves mentioned in Moves not actually on the set go at the very end of the paragraph) U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake(stop look at me). (mention that it only OHKOes Golem after Sturdy is broken with the prepositional phrase "after Sturdy is broken.")

Usage Tips
========

Focus on getting Komala in on Pokemon(you can more accurately define them as passive mons) it heavily threatens, like Mareanie or Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team. Notably, it is capable on coming on for free on those Pokemon, as well as others like Pyukumuku and Tangela, thanks to Comatose. Otherwise, Komala will rely on moves like U-turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to be brought in. Its bulk isn't great without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is ill-advised. Early game, it is often useful to utilize Komala's U-turn to generate momentum for its team and wear down its switch-ins. Otherwise, it will be tough to break through the likes of Gourgeist-XL and physically defensive Golem without flawless predictions.(Banded Komala can try to flawlessly predict with Geist all day not clicking U-turn and it isnt gonna be good. You can reword this bullet point to try to convey that the user be careful of what they lock themselves into, as locking themselves into the wrong move could lose all momentum. ) Knock Off can be used in a similar manner, removing useful items like Leftovers and Eviolite from its checks.

Team Options
========

Komala's matchup against offensive teams is far from great, so fast attackers that can threaten the archetype are very important. Examples include Floatzel, Rapidash, and Kadabra.(Again, breaking off the sentence like this just to mention examples isn't good. tie this back into the previous sentence) Pokemon that can bring in Komala with moves like U-turn and Volt Switch synergize very well with it, especially if they can lure in Pokemon it can threaten, so Oricorio, Silvally formes, and Electivire are good teammates.(These are fast pivots, are these necessarily the best examples? Komala would most likely be taking a hit) Since Komala forces a lot of switches, Stealth Rock setters like Golem, Bronzor, and Probopass are important. (I would change this to hazard setters and include a least one Spiker, probably Crustle) Probopass also notably traps opposing Steel-types like Bronzor, allowing Komala to spam its Return more easily. Komala tends to get forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for those is crucial.(this is extremely vague, include examples) Forming a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala(but why? why is a solid defensive backbone important for a team structure?).

Moves
========

Komala is the only viable Rapid Spinner in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes(we have Delibird, oh and Tentacool too :-) ), thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from getting Poisoned very easily. If Komala's team already has hazard removal, then Bulk Up is an alternative over Rapid Spin, turning Komala into a bulky setup sweeper that can take over games late-game thanks to it being unable to be worn down by Toxic, which would be common counterplay otherwise. (I mean there are mons that beat BU + Knock Off Komala even at +2 such as Silvally-Fighting or Z-Focus Blast Combusken.) Knock Off is the only offensive move on the set. It offers great utility in removing items and nothing is immune to it, ensuring Komala is very rarely complete deadweight against any Pokemon. It's also very notable that it allows Komala to consistently beat Bronzor, which is one of the most common Stealth Rock setter, and thus allows it to Rapid Spin with ease. Toxic is an option over Knock Off, if Rapid Spin is chosen in the first slot, to punish Pokemon like Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL, which can spinblock Komala with ease otherwise, and Silvally-Fighting, which take minimal damage from Knock Off and either do not mind or can't have their item removed. However, it leaves Komala completely passive once the foe has been Toxiced and makes it a free switch-in for Pokemon immune to Toxic, like Mareanie, Probopass, Muk, and opposing Komala. Protect allows Komala to be sure to receive its own Wish and helps it scout against Choice item users, like Electivire and opposing Komala.

Set Details
========

This EV spread makes the most use of Komala's solid natural special bulk to check a variety of special attackers(such as?) in the tier. In addition, if Komala is running Bulk Up, it can already boost its Defense, meaning further investment is unnecessary.

Usage Tips
========

Protect should usually be used to ensure Komala receive its own Wish, although it can also be used to scout Pokemon that commonly carry a Choice item, like Electivire, in order to make switching in more easily.(this is literally a rehash of what you said in Moves) If you're running Rapid Spin, it is very worthwhile to switch Komala into hazard setters that rely on special attacks or status, like Roselia and Mareanie, to remove their hazards immediately. Thanks to Komala's impressive special bulk and its ability Comatose, it can do so quite freely.(Fold this sentence into the last) If using Bulk Up, Komala should generally be kept healthy until the late-game. Although it can still be used to pivot into special attacker, a healthy Komala can set up on many special attackers and passive Pokemon, like Altaria and Zebstrika, and sweep from there. Be careful around mixed or versatile(versatile usually refers to mons with lots of sets. however, what I think you mean is mons that can either be physical or special ex. Floatzel. Komala is versatile but is always physical. reword) attackers like Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire. While this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in (Komala is susceptible to physical attacks. Mention switching into blanket physical checks.

Team Options
========

Due to Komala's lackluster physical bulk, it pairs well with Pokemon that can efficiently cover many attackers that target defense, like Gourgeist, physically defensive Altaria, Granbull, and physically defensive Golem. The former three also cover Komala's sole weakness in Fighting while the latter provides Stealth Rock, forming a solid hazard control core. Other checks to Fighting-types like Mareanie and Kadabra also pair well to take care of Komala's worst type matchup.(Kadabra is an NSI, it breaks it sash. you can probably find a better example) They also notably cover Silvally-Fighting, which is one of the best switch-ins to Knock Off in ZU. Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala removing hazards from their side of the field without removing the ones they set like a Defogger (such as give one example)would.

Moves
========

Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move as it covers the Pokemon immune to Return and notably allows it to beat one of the premier Stealth Rock setters in Bronzor, while also offering valuable utility (in removing items). Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, notably allowing Komala to beat Pokemon like Probopass, thus preventing them from setting Stealth Rock easily, but without a boosting item it's not quite strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile and the Pokemon it does already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off. U-turn allows Komala to pivot in and out,(Komala having U-turn doesn't allow it to pivot in) which synergizes well with an Assault Vest to easily switch in and out and generate a lot of momentum. (how does it synergize well with its AV?)Sucker Punch can be used over the coverage move or Rapid Spin if the priority is needed, but it is weak without a boosting item and leaves Komala either walled by many Pokemon(such as?) or unable to provide the excellent hazard control it is known for.

Set Details
========

An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good special defense, allowing it to easily take special hits (list examples of common special attackers).

Usage Tips
========

This set should focus on generating and keeping up momentum and offensive pressure. However, do not be afraid switching in on special attackers that it can take hits from, such as Chatot and Silvally-Dragon, before removing hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. The focus should be on generating and keeping momentum. (this is word for word the exact same thing you said)Due to the low Speed investment on this set, Komala's U-turn will generally go after the foe moves, allowing Komala to bring in strong breakers like Mr. Mime and Pinsir for free. While Return, Knock Off, and Earthquake won't be the moves you use the most, they are still very strong and your opponent will have to keep them in mind. Look for opportunities to put pressure on your opponent by wearing down their team with ease. (this sentence paraphrased currently reads: by wearing down their team with ease, Komala can find opportunities to wear down the opponent. It should be the other way around) Remember that Komala is completely immune to every status; do not be afraid to switch into Toxic users, as they will often be unable to dent Komala otherwise. Examples include Bronzor and Mareanie.(this sentence can be combined into the prior one)(There are also some Toxic users Komala should steer clear of such as Defensive Pivot S-Fighting)

Team Options
========

Teammates like Gourgeist-XL, Golem, Tangela, and physically defensive Altaria can cover Komala's weaker defense. Gourgeist-XL and Altaria also cover Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting while Golem forms a solid hazard core with it. Since Komala will be pivoting in and out a lot, frail wallbreakers that appreciate being brought in for free, like Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support, especially since each of them can beat or set up on Gourgeist-XL and the Rock-types that Komala lures in.(specifically mention the terminology "slow pivot") Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing hazards without also undoing their work.(Mention a Defog user or two that undoes their work) Depending on what coverage move is chosen, Pokemon that can deal with the Pokemon Komala loses to are appreciated; Knock Off variants enjoy support from Pokemon like Silvally-Fighting that can threaten Probopass, while Earthquake variants appreciate the likes of Silvally-Dark and Probopass to beat Bronzor.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

However, this sad(sad? I think you mean set?) has a very lackluster matchup against offense, even moreso than its other set, making it very matchup reliant. (Why? Due to lack of setup opportuntities?) To relieve that issue, Sucker Punch can be used over Knock Off, but that leaves Komala unable to remove items and hurt Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, nerfing its matchup against stall. (The current wording of this sentence makes it seem like Gourgeist-Super can only fit on Stall. To fix this, change the latter part of the sentence to read "unable to remove XYZ, hurt XYZ, and break XYZ.)Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk works even though Komala is immune to the sleep status. (I can see where explaining this mechanic would be important if it was a main set, but because it isn't it acts as fluff)As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140 BP STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entire walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always inferior to the standard Choice Band set. In addition, Reckless Head Charge Bouffalant hits about as hard as Last Resort while being able to fit on moves like Earthquake, making it a superior choice as well. (Mention that it isn't choice-locked or walled by Ghosts either)Superpower is an option over Earthquake on the Choice Band set in order to still threaten Golem and Probopass while not letting Bronzor come in for free, but the stat drops make it usually a worse option.(Why is that a worse option? Because its stats drops makes it lose momentum? Because it gives the opponent setup opportunities?) Lastly, a physically defensive variant with Wish/Protect/Rapid Spin/Toxic allows Komala to beat non-Choice Band Bronzor (uh??? Choice Band Bronzor?)and thus remove its Stealth Rock. However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is low, it is unable to check many other physical attackers, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one. (Mention that the majority of Fighting-type Pokemon and attacks are physical, and even with defensive investment still takes a TON)

(Mention U-turn over Rapid Spin / Bulk Up on the SpD set)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Gourgeist-XL (so you don't miss it):**: Gourgeist-XL is immune to Komala's STAB moves and easily take its Earthquakes while also easily taking Knock Off thanks to Colbur Berry.

**Faster physical attackers**: Physical Electivire, physical Floatzel, and Pinsir can all take out Komala from full or after minor chip. (The word physical before Electivire and Floatzel is redundant, the category is already physical attackers, we aren't talking about Choice Specs Floatzel here. Also these 3 examples aren't the only mons that fulfill this criteria, generalize this by saying something like "Pokemon such as."

[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to an excellent ability and an amazing Attack stat, Komala is a great Pokemon in the ZU metagame, especially since its access to a powerful STAB move in Return and good coverage moves like Earthquake and Knock Off makes it quite a nuisance to switch into. Utility moves like U-turn, Rapid Spin, Toxic, and Wish also allow it to offer a variety of support to its team, which is bolstered by good special bulk combined with only a singular single weakness, which can make it very annoying challenging to take down. In addition, setup moves like Bulk Up and Swords Dance allow it to break through things Pokemon it otherwise couldn't that otherwise wall it and add to its already incredible versatility and unpredictability thanks to its highly effective movepool (You don't need to repeat this.), especially excelling at beating down on defensive builds thanks to an immunity to status because of Comatose.

Lastly, Komala faces some competition from other Normal-types like Bouffalant, Kecleon, and Lickilicky, though its status immunity and great expansive ("Great" is used informally for "very good" and shares its vagueness.) movepool mean that it generally outshines them.

Earthquake hits the Rock- and Steel-types that resist Return very hard (You only resist a type 2 times or 4 times, not very hard), notably (I'll remove this redundancy throughout the article.) 2HKOing physically defensive Golem and Mawile and OHKOing Probopass. Knock Off is Komala's strongest move to hit Ghost-types like Dusclops, as well as Bronzor, which is 2HKOed even if it is physically defensive. It also offers crucial utility in remove removing Eviolites Eviolite from Pokemon like Tangela, allowing them to be more easily broken later. U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL. Sucker Punch is an option over Knock Off to give Komala a form of priority, which helps in the matchup against offensive teams, but it leaves it completely walled by Pokemon like Bronzor and is thus usually inferior to Knock Off.

Set Details
========

A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake after Sturdy is broken.

Usage Tips
========

Focus on getting switching Komala in on passive Pokemon it heavily threatens, like Mareanie or Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team. Notably, it is capable on coming on for free on those Pokemon, as well as others like Pyukumuku and Tangela, thanks to Comatose. Otherwise, Komala will rely on moves like U-turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to be brought in. (Making the previous sentence a command:) Otherwise, use U-Turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to switch Komala in. Its bulk isn't great high without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is ill-advised. Early game, it is often useful to utilize Komala's U-turn to generate momentum for its team and wear down its switch-ins. Otherwise, it will be tough to break through the likes of physically defensive Golem without flawless predictions. Knock Off can be used in a similar manner, removing useful items like Leftovers and Eviolite from its checks.

Team Options
========

Komala's matchup against offensive teams is far from great, so fast attackers that can threaten the archetype (what archetype?) like Floatzel, Rapidash, and Kadabra are very important. Pokemon like Oricorio, Silvally formes, and Electivire that can bring in Komala with moves like U-turn and Volt Switch synergize very well with it, especially if they can lure in Pokemon it can threaten, so Oricorio, Silvally formes, and Electivire are good teammates. Since Komala forces a lot of switches, hazrd hazard setters like Golem, Bronzor, Cruslte Crustle, and Probopass are important. Probopass also notably traps opposing Steel-types like Bronzor, allowing Komala to spam its Return more easily. Komala tends to get be forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for those them is crucial; as such, forming using a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala.

Komala is the only viable Rapid Spinner in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from getting becoming Poisoned very easily. If Komala's team already has hazard removal, then Bulk Up is an alternative over Rapid Spin, turning Komala into a bulky setup sweeper that can take over games late-game thanks to it being unable to be worn down by Toxic immune to Toxic, which would be common counterplay otherwise. Knock Off is the only offensive move on the set. It offers great utility in removing items (AC) and nothing is immune to it, ensuring Komala is very rarely complete completely deadweight against any Pokemon. It's also very notable that it Knock Off allows Komala to consistently beat Bronzor, which is one of the most a common Stealth Rock setter, and thus allows it to Rapid Spin with ease. Toxic is an option over Knock Off, (RC) if Rapid Spin is chosen in the first slot, (RC) to punish Pokemon like Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL, which can spinblock Komala with ease otherwise, and Silvally-Fighting, which take takes minimal little damage from Knock Off and either do not mind or can't have their item removed cannot have its item removed. However, it leaves Komala completely passive once the foe opposing Pokemon has been Toxiced badly poisoned and makes it a free switch-in for Pokemon immune to Toxic, like Mareanie, Probopass, Muk, and opposing Komala. Protect allows Komala to be sure to receive its own Wish and helps it scout against Choice item users, like Electivire and opposing Komala.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

If you're running Rapid Spin, it is very worthwile to switch Komala into hazard setters that rely on special attacks or status, like Roselia and Mareanie, to remove their hazards immediately; thanks to Komala's impressive special bulk and its ability Comatose, it can do so quite freely. If using Bulk Up, Komala should generally be kept healthy until the late-game. Although it can still be used to pivot into special attacker attackers, a healthy Komala can set up on many special attackers and passive Pokemon, like Altaria and Zebstrika, and sweep from there. Be careful around mixed attackers or ones that can go run either physical or special sets, such as Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire; while this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in.

They also notably cover Silvally-Fighting, which is one of the best switch-ins to Knock Off in ZU. Moves

Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move (AC) as it covers the Pokemon immune to Return and notably allows it to beat one of the premier Stealth Rock setters in Bronzor, while also offering valuable utility in removing items. Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, notablu allowing Komala to beat Pokemon like Probopass, thus preventing them from setting Stealth Rock easily, but without a boosting item it's not quite strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile ( and the Pokemon it does already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off ) (What? I don't know what you want to say.).

Set Details
========

An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good special defense Special Defense, allowing it to easily take special hits attacks.

Usage Tips
========

This set should focus on generating and keeping up maintaining momentum and offensive pressure. However, do not be afraid switching to switch in on special attackers that it can take hits from, such as Chatot and Silvally-Dragon, before removing hazards or pivoting out with U-turn. Due to the low Speed investment on this set, Komala's U-turn will generally go usually happen after the foe moves, allowing Komala to bring in strong breakers wallbreakers like Mr. Mime and Pinsir for free ("for free" isn't the best wording because it implies that there are no drawbacks, which is wrong because Komala will take some damage. Maybe "take an attack and pivot out"). While Return, Knock Off, and Earthquake won't be the moves you use the most, they are still very strong (AC) and your opponent will have to keep them in mind; look for opportunities to wear down your opponent's team. Remember that Komala is completely immune to every status; do not be afraid to switch into Toxic users that are unable to dent Komala otherwise, such as Bronzor and Mareanie.

Team Options
========

Teammates like Gourgeist-XL, Golem, Tangela, and physically defensive Altaria can cover Komala's weaker lower defense Defense stat. Gourgeist-XL and Altaria also cover Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting while Golem (AC) forms a solid hazard core with it. Since Komala is a slow pivot, frail wallbreakers that appreciate being brought in for free (again, "for free"), like Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support, especially since each of them can beat or set up on Gourgeist-XL and the Rock-types that Komala lures in. Spike setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing hazards without also undoing their work.

Other Options
=============

However, due to a lack of setup opportunities, this set has a very lackluster matchup against offense, even moreso more than its other set, making it very matchup reliant matchup-reliant. To relieve that issue, Sucker Punch can be used over Knock Off, but that leaves Komala unable to remove items hurt from Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, (RC) and break stall stallbreak. Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk works is successful (AC) even though Komala is immune to the sleep status sleep. As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140 BP STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entire entirely walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always (I can think of situations where this set is superior.) inferior to the standard Choice Band set. Lastly, a physically defensive variant with Wish/Protect/Rapid Spin/Toxic allows Komala to beat non-Choice Band Golem and thus remove its Stealth Rock. However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is low any many Fighting-types are physical, it is unable to check many other physical attackers, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one. (This is an awkward sentence. Here's my correction.) However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is low, it is unable to check many physical attackers, especially Fighting-types, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Gourgeist-XL:**: Gourgeist-XL is immune to Komala's STAB moves and easily take takes its Earthquakes while also easily taking Knock Off thanks to Colbur Berry. (I think you have better words than "take.") However, it must be wary of Toxic and Bulk Up on the defensive set and can be worn down by U-turn.

**Fighting-types**: While they can't switch in for fear of Choice Band Return, Silvally-Fighting and Monferno both outspeed any Komala set and can revenge kill it with ease. Combusken can do something similar, although it needs a Speed Boost first.

**Faster physical attackers**: Pokemon such as Electivire, Floatzel, and Pinsir can all take out Komala from full or after minor chip.
I'll implement this once it's stamped by a GPer

In addition, setup moves like Bulk Up and Swords Dance allow it to break through things Pokemon it otherwise couldn't that otherwise wall it and add to its already incredible versatility and unpredictability thanks to its highly effective movepool (You don't need to repeat this.) (agree), especially excelling at beating down on defensive builds thanks to an immunity to status because of Comatose.

Lastly, Komala faces some competition from other Normal-types like Bouffalant, Kecleon, and Lickilicky, though its status immunity and great expansive ("Great" is used informally for "very good" and shares its vagueness.) movepool mean that it generally outshines them.

(keep the notably. it places emphasis) 2HKOing physically defensive Golem and Mawile and OHKOing Probopass. Knock Off is Komala's strongest move to hit Ghost-types like Dusclops, as well as Bronzor, which is 2HKOed even if it is physically defensive. It also offers crucial utility in remove removing Eviolites Eviolite from Pokemon like Tangela, allowing them to be more easily broken through later. U-turn allows Komala to utilize the switches it forces to generate momentum for its team while wearing down checks like Gourgeist-XL. Sucker Punch is an option over Knock Off to give Komala a form of priority, which helps in the matchup against offensive teams, but it leaves it Komala completely walled by Pokemon like Bronzor and is thus usually inferior to Knock Off.

A Jolly nature is generally preferred for this set, as it allows Komala to outspeed Pokemon like Abomasnow and Pawniard while also preventing Altaria from efficiently Speed creeping it. However, an Adamant nature is an option, (AC) as it allows Komala to OHKO offensive Golem with Earthquake after Sturdy is broken.

Usage Tips
========

Focus on getting switching Komala in on passive Pokemon it heavily threatens, like Mareanie or and Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team. (okay but make sure you remove the previous sentence + the t in u-turn should not be capitalised) Its bulk isn't great high (great makes more sense. "high bulk" is odd) without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is ill-(RH)advised. Early-(AH)game, it is often useful to utilize Komala's U-turn to generate momentum for its team and wear down its switch-ins. Otherwise, it will be tough to break through the likes of physically defensive Golem without flawless predictions. Knock Off can be used in a similar manner, removing useful (keep useful) items like Leftovers and Eviolite from its checks.

Komala is the only viable Rapid Spinner spinner or Rapid Spin user (pick one or the other, just can't say Rapid Spinner) in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from getting becoming poisoned very easily. It offers great (keep, not necessary to remove) utility in removing items (AC) (dont add the comma here) and nothing is immune to it, ensuring Komala is very rarely complete completely dead(add space)weight against any Pokemon. It's also very notable that it Knock Off also allows Komala to consistently beat Bronzor, which is one of the most a very common Stealth Rock setter, and thus allows it to Rapid Spin with ease.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

(you can keep that) Be careful around mixed attackers or ones that can go run either physical or special sets, such as Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire; while this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in.

Team Options

Cantius this is a pretty decent check but there's one thing i want to touch on. a lot of the time you removed a small term from a sentence (things like notably, heavily, very), adverbs in general, which actually changed the meaning of the sentence. you made a lot of unnecessary changes that didn't strictly improve the sentence and changed the meaning; this is generally not a good thing to do because when making grammar changes you want to only improve the grammar and not change any of the actual meaning. also importantly, the author's voice should be retained (i.e. the writer's writing style)
otherwise it was a pretty good check with good objective changes, though the diction changes are definitely something to work on.

If using Bulk Up, Komala should generally be kept healthy until the late-game. Although it can still be used to pivot into special attacker attackers, a healthy Komala can set up on many special attackers and passive Pokemon, like Altaria and Zebstrika, and sweep from there. (you can keep that) Be careful around mixed attackers or ones that can go run either physical or special sets, such as Floatzel, Abomasnow, and Electivire; while this Komala set can check their special sets, it struggles against their physical ones, so the set should be scouted before switching in.

Team Options
========

Due to Komala's lackluster physical bulk, it pairs well with Pokemon that can efficiently cover many attackers that target Defense, like Gourgeist, physically defensive Altaria, Granbull, and physically defensive Golem. The former three also cover Komala's sole weakness in Fighting (AC) while the latter provides Stealth Rock, forming a solid hazard control core. Other checks to Fighting-types like Mareanie and Muk also pair well to take care of Komala's worst type matchup. They also notably (keep) cover Silvally-Fighting, which is one of the best switch-ins to Knock Off in ZU. Spikes setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala removing hazards from their side of the field without removing the ones they set like a Defogger would.

Moves
========

Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move, (AC) as it covers the Pokemon immune to Return, (AC) and notably (keep) allows it to beat one of the premier Stealth Rock setters in Bronzor, while also offering and offers valuable utility in removing items. Earthquake is another option as a coverage move, notablu notably allowing Komala to beat Pokemon like Probopass, thus preventing them from setting Stealth Rock easily, but without a boosting item it's not quite strong enough to 2HKO the likes of physically defensive Golem and Mawile, (AC) ( and the Pokemon it does already do not appreciate losing their item to Knock Off ) (What? I don't know what you want to say.) (hes saying that eq can 2hko some pokemon but they are already hit hard by knock so you dont need eq).

Set Details
========

An Assault Vest combined with the 160 HP EVs boosts Komala's already good special defense Special Defense, allowing it to easily take special hits attacks.

Usage Tips
========

This set should focus on generating and keeping up maintaining (those mean the same thing, writer you can pick) momentum and offensive pressure.

========

Teammates like Gourgeist-XL, Golem, Tangela, and physically defensive Altaria can cover Komala's weaker lower defense Defense stat. Gourgeist-XL and Altaria also cover Fighting-types like Silvally-Fighting, (AC) while Golem (AC) (dont add this comma) forms a solid hazard core with it. Spikes setters like Crustle and Roselia appreciate Komala's Rapid Spin removing hazards without also undoing their work.

=============

Komala can run a set consisting of Swords Dance, Return, Wood Hammer, and Knock Off with Grassium Z to heavily (keep, it changes the meaning) threaten common stall teams, as they lack a good answer for it due to Bloom Doom breaking through stall's most common answer to set up sweepers in Pyukumuku. However, due to a lack of setup opportunities, this set has a very (keep, it changes the meaning) lackluster matchup against offense, even moreso more (keep original, not sure what you mean by "other set", if you mean a specific set like the banded one just say than the choice band set) than its other set, making it very matchup reliant matchup-reliant (keep original, with the "very" and without the hyphen). To relieve that issue, Sucker Punch can be used over Knock Off, but that leaves Komala unable to remove items hurt from Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, (RC) and break stall stallbreak. Due to Comatose's strange mechanics, Sleep Talk works is successful (AC) (dont add this comma) even though Komala is immune to the sleep status sleep. As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140-(AH)BP STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entire entirely walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always (I can think of situations where this set is superior.) (probably not, i think it's just here to tell people not to use it) inferior to the standard Choice Band set. Lastly, a physically defensive variant with Wish/Protect/Rapid Spin/Toxic Wish / Protect / Rapid Spin / Toxic (moves have spaces with slashes) allows Komala to beat non-Choice Band Golem and thus (no, keep this.) remove its Stealth Rock. However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is low any many Fighting-types are physical, it is unable to check many other physical attackers, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one. (This is an awkward sentence. Here's my correction.) However, since Komala's natural physical bulk is low lacking, it is unable to check many physical attackers, especially Fighting-types, making this set inferior to the specially defensive one.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Gourgeist-XL:**: Gourgeist-XL is immune to Komala's STAB moves and easily take takes its Earthquakes while also easily taking Knock Off thanks to Colbur Berry. (I think you have better words than "take.") (take is fine) However, it must be wary of Toxic and Bulk Up on the defensive set and can be worn down by U-turn.

(or something like that)
[/SPOILER]

Did this, thank you. Ready for 2

[OVERVIEW]

Thanks to an its excellent ability and an amazing Attack stat, Komala is a great Pokemon in the ZU metagame, especially since its access to a powerful STAB move in Return and good coverage moves like Earthquake and Knock Off makes it quite a nuisance to switch into. Utility moves like U-turn, Rapid Spin, Toxic, and Wish also allow it to offer a variety of support to its team, which is bolstered by good special bulk combined with only a single weakness, which can make making it challenging to take down. In addition, setup moves like Bulk Up and Swords Dance allow it to break through Pokemon that otherwise wall it and add to its already incredible versatility and unpredictability, (RC) especially excelling at beating down on. (AP) Komala especially excels at beating defensive builds thanks to an its immunity to status because of Comatose.

Unfortunately, Komala suffers from underwhelming Speed and low physical bulk, leaving it to easily succumb to offensive pressure and meaning it struggles causing it to struggle against more offensive builds. The very common Colbur Berry Gourgeist-XL is also hard for it Komala to break through, although it can be worn down with continuous U-turns repeated uses of U-turn.

It Knock Off also offers crucial utility in removing Eviolite from Pokemon like Tangela, allowing them to be more easily broken through later.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Focus on switching Komala in on passive Pokemon it heavily threatens, like Mareanie and Altaria, and begin breaking through the opponent's team. Notably, it is capable on coming on in for free on those Pokemon, as well as others like Pyukumuku and Tangela, thanks to Comatose. Otherwise, use U-turn and Volt Switch from its teammates to switch Komala in. Its bulk isn't great without investment, especially physically, so switching it in on strong attackers is illadvised ill-advised.

========

Komala's matchup against offensive teams is far from great, so fast attackers that can threaten the archetype like Floatzel, Rapidash, and Kadabra are very important. Pokemon like Oricorio Oricorio-F, Silvally formes, and Electivire that can bring in Komala with moves like U-turn and Volt Switch synergize very well with it, especially if they can lure in Pokemon it can threaten. Since Komala forces a lot of switches, hazard setters like Golem, Bronzor, Crustle, and Probopass are important. Probopass also notably traps opposing Steel-types like Bronzor, allowing Komala to spam its Return more easily. Komala tends to be forced out by powerful, faster attackers, so having switch-ins for them is crucial; as such, using a good defensive core like Golem + Gourgeist-XL or Altaria + Bronzor can greatly aid Komala.

Thanks to Comatose, Komala is the only viable Rapid Spin user in the tier that is immune to Toxic Spikes, thanks to Comatose, which allows it to prevent its team from becoming poisoned. Knock Off also allows Komala to consistently beat Bronzor, which a very common Stealth Rock setter, and thus allows it to Rapid Spin spin (accepted term, less stilted than saying the move in this case) with ease.

Set Details

This EV spread makes the most use of Komala's solid natural special bulk to check a variety of special attackers in the tier like Choice Scarf Chatot and Silvally-Dragon. In addition, if Komala is running Bulk Up, it can already boost its Defense, meaning further investment is unnecessary.

Usage Tips
========

Moves
========

Knock Off is usually the preferred coverage move, as it (implied by it being the first slash) covers the Pokemon immune to Return, notably allows it Komala to beat one of the premier Stealth Rock setters in Bronzor, and offers valuable utility in removing items.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Since Komala is a slow pivot, frail wallbreakers that appreciate being brought in without taking damage, (RC) like Chatot, Floatzel, and Pinsir enjoy its support, especially since each of them can beat or set up on Gourgeist-XL and the Rock-types that Komala lures in.

Other Options
=============

As such, a set consisting of only Sleep Talk and Last Resort with a Choice Band may seem alluring to fire off 140-BP 140-Base Power STAB moves immediately, but the complete lack of coverage on this set leaves it entirely walled by Pokemon like Gourgeist-XL, physically defensive Golem, and Probopass, which makes it always inferior to the standard Choice Band set.

===================
