Iron Defense Kommo-o serves as a bulky wincon for Dragon teams, specifically dominating in the Steel and Dark matchups, which Dragon can often struggle against. Iron Defense lets Kommo-o shrug off attacks from non-Choice Band Melmetal, Excadrill, and non-Choice Band Weavile. It also boosts Body Press, allowing Kommo-o to deal with Steel-, Normal-, and Dark-types such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Mandibuzz. Earthquake deals with Aegislash, which is immune to Body Press. Alternatively, Flamethrower gives Kommo-o a better matchup against Corviknight, Whimsicott, and Tapu Bulu; however, it has a chance of not breaking specially defensive Aegislash's Substitute. Substitute lets Kommo-o avoid Toxic and Leech Seed from Aegislash and Ferrothorn, respectively. It also takes advantage of forced switches against types such as Steel, Ground, and Normal, allowing Kommo-o to whittle down its checks such as Choice Specs Jirachi and Nidoking. Bulletproof blocks Shadow Ball from Aegislash, and Leftovers allows Kommo-o to remain healthy throughout the match. 200 Speed EVs with a positive nature let Kommo-o outspeed Modest Galarian Moltres, while 52 Special Defense EVs let its Substitute withstand specially defensive Heatran's Earth Power.

Kommo-o is setup fodder for Fairy-types such as Clefable, Calm Mind Tapu Fini, and Hatterene, so Dragalge, which checks these threats, is an excellent teammate for it. Dragalge also sets Toxic Spikes, which wears down checks such as Sableye and Porygon2, and can pivot Kommo-o in safely against Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, which try to take advantage of Dragalge. Nasty Plot Hydreigon provides a Psychic immunity, is an excellent wallbreaker that deals with walls such as Toxapex and Bulk Up Corviknight that Kommo-o struggles against, and works well with it to break down Ground- and Steel-type teams. Choice Scarf Dragapult deals with faster threats such as Swift Swim Kingdra, Latias, and Garchomp, which break through Kommo-o, and pivots it in against walls such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Celesteela. SubRoost Kyurem heavily pressures types such as Flying, Ground, and Water, and it deals with Kommo-o's checks in Nidoking, Toxapex, and Sableye. In return, Kommo-o removes specially defensive walls such as Tyranitar, Cradily, and Ferrothorn; this synergy allows it or Kyurem to clean types such as Dark and Grass late-game. Garchomp sets Stealth Rock, pressures types such as Steel alongside Kommo-o, and can put walls such as Sableye on a timer with Toxic. Latias provides Healing Wish, which gives Kommo-o a second chance to set up if it has been greatly worn down or statused, making Kommo-o much harder to deal with.

Taunt may be used over Substitute, as this prevents Corviknight and bulky variants of Galarian Moltres from boosting alongside Kommo-o, and it still prevents Aegislash's Toxic. However, without Substitute, Kommo-o risks being lured in and removed by Choice Specs Aegislash, and it becomes significantly easier to check offensively with special attackers such as Choice Specs Jirachi and Nidoking. Stealth Rock lets Kommo-o perform extreme role compression. Stealth Rock should ideally be run if also using Taunt, but this forces a stalemate between Kommo-o and Aegislash, which can prove annoying for Dragon teams. However, using Stealth Rock frees its teammate, Garchomp, to use offensive sets.

Iron Defense Kommo-o is a bulky win condition for Dragon teams against types such as Steel, Normal, and Dark, specifically dominating Steel and Dark, which Dragon can often struggle against. (think this is more to the point) Iron Defense lets Kommo-o eventually shrug off attacks from Melmetal, Excadrill, and non-Choice Band Weavile. It also boosts Body Press, which is the main attacking move of choice, allowing Kommo-o to deal with Steel-, Normal-, and Dark-types such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Mandibuzz. Alternatively, Flamethrower lets Kommo-o have a better matchup against Corviknight, and Tapu Bulu, which allows Kommo-o to also secure the Grass matchup; however, it has a chance of not breaking specially defensive Aegislash' Substitute. Substitute lets Kommo-o take advantage of forced switches against teams such as Steel, Ground, and Normal, allowing Kommo-o to whittle down its checks such as Choice Specs Jirachi and Nidoking and Porygon2. (the main use is to avoid toxic from things like aegislash / ferrothorn, so definitely include that) Bulletproof allows Kommo-o to not be bothered by to immune Shadow Ball from Aegislash, and Leftovers allows Kommo-o to remain healthy throughout the match. 200 Speed EVs with a positive nature lets Kommo-o outspeed Modest Galarian Moltres, while 52 Special Defense EVs lets it's Substitute to not get broken by Specially Defensive Heatran's Earth Power.

Garchomp sets Stealth Rock to wear down the opposing team, pressures teams such as Steel alongside Kommo-o, and can put walls such as Porygon2 (5 mentions for this very niche mon in one analysis is a lot) on a timer with Toxic.

add latias, which can support kommo-o with healing wish if it gets toxiced and makes it even harder to deal with it for the types that it beats

Iron Defense lets Kommo-o eventually shrug off attacks from Melmetal, Excadrill, and non-Choice Band Weavile (id personally reword this to shrug off attacks after a boost? saying eventually just reads weird to me. also, band melm and band weavile can still give it trouble after one boost if they hard swap in on a boost, could maybe quantify how many boosts are needed and specify non band melm?). Dragalge also sets Toxic Spikes, (AC) which wears down checks such as Sableye and Porygon2, and can pivot Kommo-o in safely against Steel-types such as Ferrothorn, which try to take advantage of Dragalge. Nasty Plot Hydreigon provides a Psychic-type immunity, is an excellent wallbreaker that deals with walls such as Toxapex and Bulk Up Corviknight that Kommo-o struggles against, and works well with it to break down Ground- and Steel-type teams. Choice Scarf Dragapult deals with faster threats such as Swift Swim Kingdra, Latias, and Garchomp, (AC) which break through Kommo-o, and pivots it in against walls such as Ferrothorn, Porygon2, and Celesteela. SubRoost Kyurem heavily pressures types such as Flying, Ground, and Water, and it deals with Kommo-o's checks in Nidoking, Toxapex, and Sableye. In return, Kommo-o removes specially defensive walls such as Tyranitar, Cradily, and Ferrothorn, allowing it (optional alternative eg: "...and Ferrothorn; this synergy allows it or Kyurem to...") or Kyurem to clean types such as Dark and Grass late-game. Garchomp sets Stealth Rock to wear down the opposing team, pressures teams types such as Steel alongside Kommo-o, and can put walls such as Sableye on a timer with Toxic. Latias provides Healing Wish, which gives Kommo-o a second chance to setup set up if it has been greatly worn down or statused, making Kommo-o much harder to deal with.

Taunt may be used over Substitute, as this prevents Corviknight and bulky variants of Galarian Moltres from boosting alongside Kommo-o while still preventing Aegislash from debilitating it with Kommo-o, and it still prevents Aegislash's Toxic. However, without Substitute, Kommo-o becomes vulnerable to risks being lured in and removed by Choice Specs Aegislash, and it becomes significantly easier to check offensively with special attackers such as Choice Specs Jirachi and Nidoking. Stealth Rock lets Kommo-o perform extreme role compression. Stealth Rock should ideally be ran run if also using Taunt, but this forces a stalemate between Kommo-o and Aegislash, which can prove annoying for Dragon teams. However, using Stealth Rock frees its team mate, teammate, Garchomp, to use offensive sets.
