[SET COMMENTS]
Thanks to its great Special Attack and offensive typing along with its access to Freeze-Dry, Kyurem is able to act as a tremendous wallbreaker with Choice Specs. Kyurem's natural bulk should also not be underestimated, as its unique typing and high HP stat allow it to check threats such as Rillaboom and Crawdaunt. Ice Beam is a consistent attack with great neutral coverage across the metagame, hitting Corviknight and Clefable for impressive damage. Freeze-Dry deters any Water-type Pokemon such as Toxapex and Slowbro from freely switching into Kyurem. Draco Meteor hits like a truck and is able to 2HKO any Pokemon that doesn't resist it, bar Blissey and specially defensive Tyranitar. Pokemon that resist Ice-type attacks such as Rotom-H are prime targets for Draco Meteor. Focus Blast, while less consistent, is the best option for the fourth move slot, as it nails Tyranitar and Blissey on the switch, 2HKOing the latter. This is why a Modest nature is the preferred nature over Timid, as the extra power is worth the loss in Speed. Earth Power, however, does provide Kyurem with a more consistent way to damage pesky Steel-types that can often check it; Aegislash and Jirachi are prime examples.
Kyurem is a flexible Pokemon, able to be utilized on both balance and offensive teams. If you're looking to use a balance team, entry hazard control is crucial for Kyurem to find success. Defoggers such as Corviknight and Mandibuzz have great synergy with Kyurem and should be considered when making a team. Bringing in Kyurem safely via VoltTurn or Teleport users is a great idea, making Zeraora, Rillaboom, and Clefable good teammates. Clefable gets a special mention, as the ability to pass Wish and pivot with Teleport allows Kyurem to stay healthy throughout the match. Kyurem can also be used effectively on offensive teams, where sweepers can capitalize on the holes it breaks. Dragapult is able to clean up weakened teams very effectively and can switch in on Fighting-type attacks aimed at Kyurem. Aqua Jet users such as Crawdaunt, Azumarill, and Urshifu-R can act as great teammates, as they match up well against Pokemon Kyurem struggles against, with examples being Blissey, Tyranitar, and Volcarona. In turn, Kyurem is able to check Rillaboom for them. Kyurem can also struggle with offensive Steel-types such as Scizor and Aegislash, so Volcarona can make for a good teammate.

move 1: Freeze-Dry
move 2: Icicle Spear
move 3: Substitute
move 4: Roost
item: Metronome / Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Pressure
nature: Hasty
evs: 56 HP / 200 SpA / 252 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Due to Ice being a great offensive typing and the neutral coverage it provides, Kyurem is able to pull off this rather unique set. Thanks to its impressive bulk, Kyurem is able to create Substitutes that can't be broken by Seismic Toss with very little HP investment. The rest of the EVs are placed into Speed and Special Attack to hit as fast and as hard as possible. A Hasty nature is preferred, as the ability to set up fast Substitutes in order to avoid status effects is crucial to this set. This set allows Kyurem to turn the tables on usual switch-ins such as Blissey and Toxapex, as with Metronome, Kyurem's attacks get more powerful each turn. Heavy-Duty Boots is also a fair option to consider, as Kyurem is far less likely to be worn down by entry hazards with it. Unlike the last set, Pressure actually plays an important role for this set's success. With the combination of Substitute and Roost, Kyurem is able to easily stall out low-PP moves such as Close Combat and Stone Edge. Icicle Spear allows Kyurem to hit special walls such as Tyranitar and Blissey, which can easily sponge a Freeze-Dry from it. It also has the added benefit of breaking Substitutes, which can come into play in certain situations.
This Kyurem set should primarily be used on balance and defensive teams due its nature and how it should be played. Toxapex makes for an excellent partner, as it can check Aegislash and Scizor, which can give this set trouble. Toxapex can also provide Toxic Spikes support, which works wonderfully in conjunction with Kyurem's ability to stall. Speaking of entry hazards, Spikes users such as Ferrothorn and Skarmory work well with Kyurem's ability to force switches. Entry hazard control is crucial for this set, so Pokemon such as Excadrill and Corviknight are highly recommended. Status effects truly hamper Kyurem's ability to stall, so Heal Bell support could be very beneficial. A cleric such as Blissey, Togekiss, or Clefable comes to mind as great teammate for this set.
