Monotype Lapras (Ice) [QC 3/3] [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

Ice
========

Lapras's great bulk and neutrality to Steel-type attacks lets it serve as an effective Mega Scizor check for Ice teams. Additionally, its part Water typing grants it a neutrality to Fire-type attacks, allowing it to survive a Magma Storm from Heatran and check offensive Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Blacephalon from full health. With its ability Water Absorb and its access to Freeze-Dry, Lapras can function as a check for Water-types like Toxapex and Azumarill. When equipped with Choice Specs, Lapras is able to break past many defensive Pokemon, such as Mantine, Skarmory, and Armaldo. Unfortunately, Lapras has a terrible Speed stat, making it extremely susceptible to faster wallbreakers like Diggersby and Keldeo. Lapras also faces competition as a Mega Scizor check with Walrein, which has more Special Attack and Speed as well as Thick Fat to gain a Fire resistance. However, Lapras sets itself apart from Walrein due to its access to Freeze-Dry, allowing it to defeat bulky Water-types. Lastly, Lapras's Ice typing gives it a weakness to Stealth Rock, which limits the number of times it can safely switch in, while its mediocre Special Attack leaves it walled by specially defensive Pokemon like Celesteela and Alolan Muk, even with Choice Specs.

move 4: Surf

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Hydro Pump is Lapras's most powerful Water-type STAB attack, capable of breaking through Fire-types like Torkoal and Heatran. Freeze-Dry is the preferred Ice-type STAB attack, as it hits Water-types like Swampert, Slowbro, and Toxapex. Hidden Power Fire is essential for hitting Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Surf is the Water-type STAB attack used for consistency and to confirm KOs when Hydro Pump's power isn't needed.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Special Attack with a Modest nature and Choice Specs lets Lapras hit as hard as possible. 176 EVs in Speed are used to outspeed Azumarill and defensive Mega Scizor. The remaining EVs are put into HP to increase Lapras's overall bulk and let it survive a +4 Bullet Punch from defensive Mega Scizor from full health. Choice Specs further increases Lapras's Special Attack, turning it into a decent wallbreaker. Water Absorb grants Lapras an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to safely switch into Water-types like Toxapex and Mantine.

Usage Tips
========

Try sending out Lapras early-game to wallbreak against Fire-, Water-, and Steel-types. Make sure to keep Stealth Rock off the field as often as possible, since it wears down Lapras very quickly. Preserve Lapras's health so that it can take hits from Mega Scizor more effectively; for example, don't directly switch into neutral attacks from Excadrill and Heatran. Switch in Lapras against predicted Water-type attacks to restore its health. Additionally, Water Absorb can give Lapras safe switches against bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Mantine. Only use Hydro Pump when there is an important wall that Lapras needs to break through, such as Tyranitar or Mega Sableye. In most other situations, Surf's consistency is more important.

Team Options
========

Kyurem-B is capable of breaking through specially defensive Pokemon that Lapras can't beat, such as Chansey and Alolan Muk, as well as being able to target Water-types that don't take much damage from Freeze-Dry like Volcanion and Empoleon. In return, Lapras can hit Water / Ground types that are immune to Fusion Bolt like Swampert and Seismitoad. Alolan Ninetales can set up Aurora Veil, allowing Lapras to survive more hits. It can also check Fighting-types like Keldeo and Terrakion with Moonblast. Mamoswine can set up Stealth Rock to chip down foes throughout the battle to help Lapras wallbreak more easily. It can also switch into Electric-type attacks, while Lapras switches into Water-type attacks in return. Piloswine can also set up Stealth Rock, switch into Electric-type attacks, handle special attacks from Nihilego and Heatran in order to keep Lapras from taking unnecessary damage, and phaze setup sweepers such as Mew and Mega Latias with Roar. Avalugg and Rotom-F can remove entry hazards to keep Lapras healthy. Avalugg can switch into Fighting-types like Terrakion and Heracross, while Rotom-F can use Will-O-Wisp to cripple Mega Scizor so Lapras can safely switch into it. Rotom-F can also slowly pivot with Volt Switch to bring in Lapras safely. Alolan Sandslash can both remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin and check Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Xurkitree in hail. Cloyster greatly benefits from Lapras's ability to beat Water-types that wall it, such as Toxapex and Slowbro, with Freeze-Dry. Weavile can trap Psychic- and Ghost-types like Victini, Latios, and Gengar with Pursuit and also remove Porygon2's Eviolite with Knock Off to help Lapras break through it more easily.

Lapras could potentially run more Speed investment with a Timid nature in order to outspeed Adamant Breloom and Bisharp, as well as maximum Speed Scizor. However, this would come at the cost of extra bulk, resulting in Heatran almost always 2HKOing Lapras with Magma Storm.

**Super Effective Attackers**: Powerful Pokemon with super effective STAB moves like Tapu Koko, Mega Gallade, and Tapu Bulu are able to OHKO Lapras without hesitation.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey, Empoleon, and Celesteela can comfortably survive Lapras's attacks and wear it down slowly, with Chansey and Empoleon taking advantage of it by setting up Stealth Rock.

**Wallbreakers**: Victini and Diggersby can outspeed and OHKO Lapras with their STAB moves.

**Residual Damage**: Lapras's Stealth Rock weakness severely limits the number of times it can switch in. Status conditions like poison and burn will also effectively wear it down.

* You don’t talk about it at all in the context of being a special wall breaker. You should explicitly state that, and there should be a bullet about how it’s mediocre special attack keeps it from breaking special defensive walls such as Chansey and Alola Muk.
* Add a bullet discussing Lapras’s natural bulk and capacity to check certain threats such as Scarf Victini if healthy

Usage Tips
========

* Try sending out Lapras early-game to wallbreak and make it easier for sweepers like Alolan Sandslash and Cloyster to do their jobs.
* Make sure to keep Stealth Rock off the field as much as possible, since Lapras needs to be as healthy as it can be to check Mega Scizor. Preserving Lapras to check Mega Scizor and keeping Stealth Rock off should be two different bullets
* Switch in a weakened Lapras against a Water-type attack in order to restore its health. You could also talk about how Water Absorb gives it free switch ins against most defensive water types such as Toxapex, Mantine, and so on
* Thanks to Lapras’s natural bulk, it can count on surviving Choice Scarf Victini’s V-Create and Mega Charizard Y’s Focus Blast if it’s healthy enough. This seems like a point for overview
* Only use Hydro Pump when there is an important wall that Lapras needs to break through. In most other situations, Surf’s consistency is more important.

* Piloswine can also set up Stealth Rock and switch into Electric-type attacks for Lapras, while also switching into special attacks from Nihilego and Heatran in order to keep Lapras from taking unnecessary damage. It’s also capable of phasing out setup sweepers with Roar. Sweepers such as...?
* Alolan Sandslash can also remove hazards with Rapid Spin, as well as check Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Xurkitree in hail, and largely appreciates Lapras removing bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Swampert to help it sweep easier. Cut the last section about removing bulky water types you’ve covered it multiple times over
* Weavile can trap Psychic- and Ghost-types like Victini, Latios, and Gengar with Pursuit, while also removing Porygon2’s Eviolite to help Lapras break through it easier. In return, Lapras can check Water-types like Azumarill, Toxapex, and Swampert. Cut the last line. You’ve said something along these lines multiple times already.

* Lapras could potentially run more Speed investment with a Timid nature in order to outspeed Adamant Breloom and Bisharp, as well as Scizors that run max Speed. However, this would come at the cost of both bulk and wallbreaking power.

Checks and Counters

Ice
--------
**Electric-types**: Electric-types like Tapu Koko, Alolan Raichu, and Xurkitree outspeed and threaten to KO Lapras with their Electric STAB moves.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-types like Terrakion, Keldeo, and Heracross outspeed and threaten to KO Lapras with their Fighting STAB moves. However, none of them can safely switch in.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types like Nihilego and Mega Diancie outspeed and threaten to KO Lapras with their Rock STAB moves. However, both of them get KOed by a Choice Specs Hydro Pump or Surf.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types like Tapu Bulu and Breloom outspeed and threaten to KO Lapras with their Grass STAB moves. Bulkier Grass-types like Mega Venusaur don’t take too much damage from Freeze Dry and can proceed to wear Lapras down.

These last four bullets follow the exact same structure and phrasing. Mix it up a bit bullet to bullet

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey, Empoleon, and Celesteela can comfortably survive Lapras’s attacks and can wear it down slowly, with Chansey and Empoleon taking advantage of it by setting up Stealth Rock. However, Empoleon and Celesteela won’t be taking a Thunderbolt very well. Thunderbolt isn’t on the main set, so cut the last line. Also add Thunderbolt to OO if you think it’s worth mentioning for these targets

**Wallbreakers**: Victini, Landorus, and Kyurem-Black can all outspeed and KO Lapras with the appropriate coverage. However, both Victini and Landorus can’t switch into a Hydro Pump or Surf. Cut the second line; even if it’s true you’re talking about wall breakers in general and many of them can switch into Lapras.

**Residual Damage**: Lapras’s Stealth Rock weakness severely limits the amount of times it can switch in. Status conditions like poison and burn will also effectively wear it down.

* Lapras’s great bulk and neutrality to Steel-type attacks, it serves as an effective Mega Scizor check for Ice teams. This is a grammar thing, but this sentence doesn't make sense (grammatically) since the first half isn't a complete dependent clause.
* Its great bulk allows it to check offensive Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Victini and Blacephalon from full health.
* Additionally, its part Water typing grants it a neutrality to Fire-type attacks, allowing it to survive a Magma Storm from Heatran and a Fire Blast from Blacephalon.

* It faces competition as a Mega Scizor check from Walrein, who has more Special Attack and Speed, as well as the ability Thick Fat to grant it a Fire resistance.
* It also suffers a weakness to Stealth Rock, which limits the amount of times it can safely switch in. I think you should relate this point back to its Ice typing since it compounds Ice team's weakness to SR.
* Its mediocre Special Attack leaves it walled by specially defensive Pokemon like Chansey and Alolan Muk, even with a Choice Specs.

Like Tyke said in his QC, these four bullets all say the same thing. Pokemon that're faster and carry SE STAB moves. They beat Lapras for the same reason, so they can be condensed into one bullet. Look at the Jirachi (Psychic) analysis to see how iLlama did this.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey, Empoleon, and Celesteela can comfortably survive Lapras’s attacks and can wear it down slowly, with Chansey and Empoleon taking advantage of it by setting up Stealth Rock. I don't think the fact Chansey as Empoleon setting SR freely on Lapras is important to say here. Those are two specific examples and doesn't apply to all Specially Defensive pokemon. This bullet should only be talking about Pokemon that fall under this category and why they wall/beat Lapras, not that they take advantage by setting SR.

**Wallbreakers**: Victini, Landorus, and Kyurem-Black can all outspeed and KO Lapras with the appropriate coverage.

**Residual Damage**: Lapras’s Stealth Rock weakness severely limits the amount of times it can switch in. Status conditions like poison and burn will also effectively wear it down.
QC 2/3

Overview:
- Explain what Lapras's niche over Walrein is (Freeze-Dry)
- Chansey walls basically every special attacker regardless of their Special Attack and whether they use Choice Specs, so it's not a good example here.

Other Options:
- You would drop Special Attack before HP? I don't think that's right.

Checks and Counters:
- Wallbreakers looks weird? Landorus needs Focus Blast and Kyurem-B needs Fusion Bolt to break Lapras, so wouldn't they fit better in the super effective bullet? Something like Diggersby could replace them.

Hidden Power Fire is essential for hitting Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Surf is the Water-type STAB attack used for consistency when Hydro Pump’s power isn’t needed.

Maximum investment in Special Attack with a Modest nature when holding the Choice Specs lets Lapras hit as hard as possible. 180 EVs in Speed are used to outspeed Azumarill and defensive Mega Scizor and Azumarill. (removes ambiguity on whether Azumarill is also defensive or not) The remaining EVs are put into HP to increase its Lapras's overall bulk, (RC) and to let it survive a +4 Bullet Punch from defensive Mega Scizor from full health. Choice Specs further increases Lapras’s Special Attack, turning it into a decent wallbreaker. Lapras's ability, (AC) Water Absorb, (AC) grants it an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to safely switch into Water-types like Toxapex and Mantine.

Usage Tips
========

Try sending out Lapras early-game to wallbreak against types such as Fire-, Water-, and Steel-types. (take note of changing hyphen colors here, might be a bit hard to notice) Make sure to keep Stealth Rock off the field as much often as possible, since they wear down Lapras very quickly. Preserve Lapras's health so that it can take hits from Mega Scizor more effectively.;(semicolon) Ffor example, don't directly switch into neutral attacks from Excadrill and Heatran. Switch in Lapras against predicted Water-type attacks in order to restore its health. (nitpicky, but note: the words "in order" in this context are usually redundant, and can be removed to leave just "to" as an expression of purpose, unless you're saying "in order not to") Additionally, Water Absorb can give Lapras safe switches against bulky Water-types like Toxapex and Mantine. Only use Hydro Pump when there is an important wall that Lapras needs to break through, such as Tyranitar and Mega Sableye. In most other situations, Surf’s consistency is more important.

Kyurem-Black is capable of breaking through specially defensive Pokemon that Lapras can’t beat, (AC) such as like Chansey and Alolan Muk, as well as being able to target Water-types that don’t take much damage from Freeze-Dry (add hyphen) like Volcanion and Empoleon. (sentence is a bit long so I just added a pause in the middle for better flow - probably subjective) In return, Lapras can hit Water/Ground-types (add space before and after slash) that are immune to Fusion Bolt like Swampert and Seismitoad. Alolan Ninetales can set up Aurora Veil to let Lapras survive more hits. It can also check Fighting-types like Keldeo and Terrakion with its STAB Moonblast. Mamoswine can set up Stealth Rock to chip down foes throughout the battle to help Lapras wallbreak easier. It can also switch into Electric-type attacks, while Lapras switches into Water-type attacks for Mamoswine. Piloswine can also set up Stealth Rock and, (AC) switch into Electric-type attacks, (AC) for Lapras, while also switching into and handle special attacks from Nihilego and Heatran in order to keep Lapras from taking unnecessary damage. It’s also capable of phasing out setup sweepers such as Mew and Mega Latias with Roar. (I would include this somewhere in the previous sentence, which already lists most of the things Piloswine does for Latias) Avalugg and Rotom-F can remove entry hazards to keep Lapras healthy. Avalugg can switch into Fighting-types like Terrakion and Lapras (Lapras isn't a Fighting-type, replace with another example), while Rotom-F can use Will-O-Wisp to cripple Mega Scizor to and let Lapras safely switch into it. It can also slowly pivot with Volt Switch to bring in Lapras safely. Alolan Sandslash can also remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin, as well as and check Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Xurkitree in hail. Cloyster greatly benefits from Lapras’s ability to beat Water-types that wall Cloyster, (AC) such as Toxapex and Slowbro, (AC) with Freeze-Dry. Weavile can trap Psychic- and Ghost-types like Victini, Latios, and Gengar with Pursuit, while and also removinge Porygon2’s Eviolite to help Lapras break through it easier.

I notice that you start out a lot of sentences with "It" after mentioning an example in the previous sentence. Be careful with this - a lot of times, it can lead to ambiguity depending on how you end your sentence, and I'd usually recommend just replacing "it" with the actual Pokemon. I don't think anything in this paragraph got confusing / ambiguous in this instance, and I'm sure GP will fix it if so.

Lapras's Ice typing gives it a weakness to Stealth Rock, which limits the amount of times it can safely switch in, while its mediocre Special Attack leaves it walled by specially defensive Pokemon like Celesteela and Alolan Muk, even with Choice Specs.

Hydro Pump is Lapras’s Lapras's most powerful Water-type STAB attack, capable of breaking through Fire-types like Torkoal and Heatran. Freeze-Dry is the preferred Ice-type STAB attack, as it hits Water-types like Swampert, Slowbro, and Toxapex. Hidden Power Fire is essential for hitting Steel-types like Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Surf is the Water-type STAB attack used for consistency when Hydro Pump’s Pump's power isn’t isn't needed.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in Special Attack with a Modest nature when holding and Choice Specs lets Lapras hit as hard as possible. 180 176 EVs in Speed are used to outspeed Azumarill and defensive Mega Scizor. The remaining EVs are put into HP to increase Lapras's overall bulk and let it survive a +4 Bullet Punch from defensive Mega Scizor from full health. Choice Specs further increases Lapras’s Lapras's Special Attack, turning it into a decent wallbreaker. Lapras's ability, Water Absorb, grants it an immunity to Water-type attacks, allowing it to safely switch into Water-types like Toxapex and Mantine.

Usage Tips
========

Try sending out Lapras early-game to wallbreak against Fire-, Water-, and Steel-types. Make sure to keep Stealth Rock off the field as often as possible, since they wear down Lapras very quickly. Only use Hydro Pump when there is an important wall that Lapras needs to break through, such as Tyranitar and Mega Sableye. In most other situations, Surf’s Surf's consistency is more important.

Kyurem-B is capable of breaking through specially defensive Pokemon that Lapras can’t can't beat, such as Chansey and Alolan Muk, as well as being able to target Water-types that don’t don't take much damage from Freeze-Dry like Volcanion and Empoleon. In return, Lapras can hit Water/Ground-types Water / Ground types that are immune to Fusion Bolt like Swampert and Seismitoad. Alolan Ninetales can set up Aurora Veil to let Lapras survive more hits. It can also check Fighting-types like Keldeo and Terrakion with Moonblast. Mamoswine can set up Stealth Rock to chip down foes throughout the battle to help Lapras wallbreak easier more easily. It can also switch into Electric-type attacks, while Lapras switches into Water-type attacks for Mamoswine. Piloswine can also set up Stealth Rock, switch into Electric-type attacks, and handle special attacks from Nihilego and Heatran in order to keep Lapras from taking unnecessary damage, as well as phase out phaze setup sweepers such as Mew and Mega Latias with Roar. Avalugg and Rotom-F can remove entry hazards to keep Lapras healthy. Avalugg can switch into Fighting-types like Terrakion and Heracross, while Rotom-F can use Will-O-Wisp to cripple Mega Scizor and let so Lapras can safely switch into it. It Rotom-F can also slowly pivot with Volt Switch to bring in Lapras safely. Alolan Sandslash can also remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin and check Electric-types like Tapu Koko and Xurkitree in hail. Cloyster greatly benefits from Lapras’s Lapras's ability to beat Water-types that wall Cloyster, such as Toxapex and Slowbro, with Freeze-Dry. Weavile can trap Psychic- and Ghost-types like Victini, Latios, and Gengar with Pursuit and also remove Porygon2’s Porygon2's Eviolite to help Lapras break through it easier more easily.

Checks and Counters

Ice
--------
**Super Effective Attackers**: Powerful Pokemon with super effective STAB moves like Tapu Koko, Mega Gallade, and Tapu Bulu are able to OHKO Lapras without hesitation.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Chansey, Empoleon, and Celesteela can comfortably survive Lapras’s Lapras's attacks and wear it down slowly, with Chansey and Empoleon taking advantage of it by setting up Stealth Rock.

**Wallbreakers**: Victini and Diggersby can outspeed and OHKO Lapras with their STAB moves.

**Residual Damage**: Lapras’s Lapras's Stealth Rock weakness severely limits the amount of times it can switch in. Status conditions like poison and burn will also effectively wear it down.

With its ability, Water Absorb, and its access to Freeze-Dry, Lapras can function as a check for Water-types like Toxapex and Azumarill.
