name: Gigantamax Standard
move 1: Freeze-Dry
move 2: Sparkling Aria
move 3: Sheer Cold / Thunderbolt / Thunder
move 4: Ice Shard / Substitute
item: Assault Vest / Weakness Policy / Leftovers
ability: Water Absorb
nature: Modest
evs: 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

* Lapras functions as a solid special tank and is able to beat most dangerous special threats in the metagame, such as Togekiss and Hydreigon, while also having a niche of being able to take on opposing Water-types thanks to its natural bulk, ability, typing, and access to Freeze-Dry.

* One of its major draws is its Gigantamax forme, which gives it access to G-Max Resonance, which sets up Aurora Veil in addition to being its Ice-type STAB attack. This is particularly useful with reducing damage taken while activating Weakness Policy.

* Freeze-Dry is Lapras's most important move and enables it to hit opposing Water-type Pokemon super effectively, as well as Gyarados, Quagsire, Seismitoad, and Gastrodon for 4x damage.

* Sparkling Aria is the main Water-type STAB move used because it bypasses Substitute.

* Sheer Cold gives Lapras the ability to pressure more stall-oriented teams such as those containing Toxapex, Corviknight, Ferrothorn or Galarian Corsola.

* Ice Shard allows Lapras to pick off weakened fast Pokemon such as opposing Dragapult and Hydreigon.

* Thunderbolt can be used on more offensive sets in order to better pressure Corviknight and Gyarados with Max Lightning. Thunder is an alternative option to increase Max Lightning's power while also having a higher chance to paralyze and having perfect accuracy under rain.

* Lapras is also able to set up Substitute on a variety of defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Gastrodon, and Toxapex and threaten them with its coverage.

* Assault Vest is the most common item on Lapras, allowing it to better soak hits from Togekiss, Dragapult, and Hydreigon.

* Alternatively, Weakness Policy allows Lapras to soak up weaker Electric-type moves, such as Rotom-A's Volt Switch, and become an immediate offensive threat after boosting its attacking stats.

* Leftovers is another alternative that gives Lapras passive recovery and works well with Substitute and Sheer Cold to help break through stall-oriented builds.

* Another option is running Light Clay, which extends the duration of Aurora Veil from G-max Resonance.

EV Spreads
=========

* 236 HP / 252 SpA / 20 Spe with a Modest Nature: The given Speed EVs creep uninvested base 60s while maximizing Special Attack and overall bulk.

* 172 HP / 252 SpA / 84 Spe with a Modest nature: This spread allows Lapras to outspeed defensive Corviknight and Jolly Belly Drum Snorlax.

* 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpA with a Quiet nature: This is a spread often used on Weakness Policy sets or with Trick Room support, underspeeding base 60s, such as Aegislash and Tyranitar, in order to be hit super effectively first before striking back with doubled Special Attack. It also prevents reducing Ice Shard's damage output when compared to a Modest nature.

General Team Options
==============

Pair Lapras with Pokemon that are able to check strong Electric-types such as the Rotom formes and Dracozolt. Lapras also struggles against Ferrothorn in particular, so bring teammates to pressure it.

* Electric-type Checks: :excadrill: :dracozolt: :hydreigon: :dragapult:

* Ferrothorn Checks::cinderace: :rotom-heat: :incineroar:

Since you mention a Trick Room spread, I think you should probably have am extra Mimikyu sprite in teammates under "Trick Room support" specfically for that spread.

Pretty minor otherwise though, so QC Approved 1/2!

Obligatory "change tier to format since we're technically not a tier" comment.

Is Light Clay worth mentioning as an option? I'm all for mentioning alternative options but I don't think I've ever seen anyone use that in BSS, and I'm unsure if we should recommend it.

The statement about Quiet nature "guaranteeing maximum damage output with no investment for Ice Shard" is not the wording I would use there either since it's technically not accurate. I'd just say that using Quiet nature has the slight benefit of avoiding lowering Ice Shard's damage over the usual Modest nature, that's more to the point.

Regardless of whether Light Clay stays though, I think this is fine as is. QC 2/2

Uploaded mostly fine! I just gotta ask how to implement two authors at once for one set, it didn't quite turn out right. The rest of the formating is working fine though, great job!
