Monotype Latias (Psychic) [QC 3/3] [Written] [GP 2/2]

[OVERVIEW]

High Speed and solid Special Attack, alongside an excellent movepool that includes the likes of Stored Power, Draco Meteor, and Calm Mind, make Latias a dangerous offensive threat. Its solid secondary Dragon typing grants key resistances to Water-, Fire-, and Electric-type attacks, which allows it to take on the likes of Heatran and Mega Swampert. Latias's access to Levitate also grants it a useful immunity to Ground-type attacks such as Earthquake, increasing Latias's setup chances and adding to its defensive utility in checking threats such as Landorus. With access to Calm Mind, Recover, and Stored Power, Mega Latias can function as a potent defensive setup sweeper, while Choice Scarf sets can act as an effective revenge killer, allowing Victini to run a different item, and bring valuable utility moves such as Defog, Trick, and Healing Wish to support the team. However, Latias's weaknesses to Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type attacks increase pressure on teammates such as Victini and Jirachi to check these threats. Mega Latias is also weak to common status conditions such as paralysis and Toxic, which prevent it from effectively sweeping.Mega Latias has competition from other valuable Psychic-type Mega Evolutions such as Mega Gallade and Mega Slowbro, which can help Psychic out in its troublesome Dark-type matchup or take on physical attackers such as Diggersby, respectively. Choice Scarf Latias has difficulties with common defensive Pokemon due to Psychic's low power and Draco Meteor's Special Attack reduction, while Mega Latias has limited coverage and must pick what it beats.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Calm Mind boosts Mega Latias's Special Attack and Special Defense, rendering it more powerful offensively and allowing it to take on strong special attackers such as Greninja and Mega Diancie after a few boosts. Recover restores Mega Latias's HP, allowing it to safely set up Calm Mind throughout the match. Stored Power scales with all of Mega Latias's stat boosts, which gives Mega Latias a powerful wallbreaking tool that has great synergy with Calm Mind. Thunderbolt hits Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Celesteela and Mega Sableye that take little to no damage from Stored Power and allows Latias to deal some damage in matches where it cannot set up.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs and a Timid nature maximize Mega Latias's speed, allowing it to Speed tie with the crowded base 110 Speed tier and outpace threats such as Garchomp, Blacephalon, and Alolan Ninetales. 252 HP EVs maximize Mega Latias's mixed bulk. Latiasite is required for Latias to transform into Mega Latias and receive key buffs to its bulk and damage output. Levitate is the only ability available to Latias, but it's handy to take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T and avoid Toxic Spikes.

Usage Tips
========

Avoid sending Latias in until any Dark-type Pokemon on the opposing team have been weakened or KOed, as Mega Latias is reliant on uninvested Thunderbolt to deal any damage to them. Bring Mega Latias in on Pokemon it walls such as Mega Charizard Y and Keldeo to safely set up; setting up on special attackers is generally preferable to physical attackers, as Calm Mind's Special Defense boosts mean Latias needs to use Recover less often. Avoid Toxic, as the rapidly increasing passive damage prevents Latias from effectively setting up or sweeping; while Latias does not enjoy the passive damage, getting Latias burned by Will-O-Wisp or Scald can be helpful to protect it from Toxic in the Water- and Ghost-type matchups. Even if Mega Latias cannot sweep in a matchup, it can still act as a solid defensive tank and take on threats such as Heatran and Choice Scarf Excadrill. Keep Mega Latias healthy until it needs to set up in matchups like Electric and Flying, where it plays a pivotal role in Psychic's victory.

Team Options
========

Victini pairs extremely well with Mega Latias, being able to take on Steel- and Bug-type Pokemon that give Mega Latias trouble; in return, Mega Latias can take on Water- and Ground-type Pokemon like Seismitoad and Rotom-W that threaten Victini. Alakazam checks threatening offensive Pokemon such as Alolan Muk, Mega Diancie, and Choice Scarf Heracross for Mega Latias with its attacks and Counter and appreciates Mega Latias's ability to take on defensive Pokemon that easily sponge Alakazam's attacks, such as Mantine and Porygon2. Jirachi covers Mega Latias's weaknesses to Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, while Mega Latias takes on most Fire- and Ground-type Pokemon for Jirachi; Jirachi can also give Latias a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish. Mew can take on phazers and Toxic users that Mega Latias hates with its stallbreaker set, which Latias can then use to make a clean sweep. Latios acts as an effective Choice Scarf user, taking on fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, and makes up for the lack of a Dragon-type STAB move on Mega Latias in the Dragon-type matchup. Slowbro can take on Ice-type attacks for Latias and appreciates Latias checking Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon. It can also serve as an effective check to physical wallbreakers like Mamoswine that give Mega Latias trouble and bluff being the team's Mega Evolution.

evs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Draco Meteor is Latias's strongest STAB move and its best option for revenge killing healthy Pokemon such as Mega Sharpedo, but its Special Attack drops mean Latias must often switch out after using it. Psychic is a weaker but more reliable secondary STAB move that hits Fairy-type Pokemon and doesn't force Latias to switch out. Defog clears entry hazards off the field, taking pressure off hazard-weak teammates such as Victini and preventing Toxic Spikes from putting the entire team on a timer. Trick allows Latias to punish defensive switch-ins such as Alolan Muk, Chansey, and Mantine by removing their item and locking them into a single attack, while Healing Wish is another option to breathe life back into an injured teammate, allowing them another chance to sweep; this is particularly beneficial for the likes of Mega Gallade and Victini, which often get too worn down when breaking their their checks to fully fulfill their role.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs, Choice Scarf, and a Timid nature are used to maximize Latias's Speed, allowing it to outpace the entire unboosted metagame and most Choice Scarf users or Speed-boosting attackers, most notably Victini and Mega Sharpedo. 252 Special Attack EVs are used to maximize Latias's damage output and allow it to threaten as many Pokemon as possible. Levitate is Latias's only ability, but it provides a useful immunity to Ground-type attacks and allows Latias to freely Defog away Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web, the last of which is particularly useful against Bug-type teams to check the likes of Choice Scarf Heracross.

Usage Tips
========

Thanks to its Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, Mega Lopunny, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and Landorus, forcing them out or picking up the KO. Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without a boosting item, making it Latias's best choice against most neutral targets such as Mega Charizard Y and Hippowdon; should the opponent have a Fairy-type Pokemon such as Azumarill or Tapu Koko, however, Psychic is often a better pick, since it doesn't offer a free opportunity to switch in. Be prepared to switch out Latias frequently after using Draco Meteor, as the drop in Special Attack makes it relatively easy to set up on. Choice Scarf renders Defog a risky play, as it gives the foe two turns to set up or even simply KO Latias, but it's usually still worthwhile to remove multiple hazard layers or to improve the longevity of your wincon, particularly on free turns such as forced switches or against passive Pokemon like Mantine. Refrain from using Trick until the threats Latias is needed for, such as Tapu Koko and Landorus-T, are dealt with; when the time to use Trick comes, aim to catch special walls such as Chansey and Celesteela on the switch. Similarly, it's important to wait to use Healing Wish until Latias is no longer needed or it becomes necessary to bring back a teammate from the brink, such as Mega Gallade against Poison.

Team Options
========

Mega Gallade pairs well with Latias; it takes on Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Alolan Muk, while Latias deals with the faster attackers that threaten Gallade such as Life Orb Greninja and can cripple defensive walls with Trick or give Mega Gallade a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish. Victini appreciates Choice Scarf Latias freeing up its item slot, allowing it to run a different set such as Z-Celebrate or Choice Band. Victini also appreciates the fact that Latias checks threatening Ground- and Water-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T and Keldeo. Deoxys-S sets entry hazards, which make it more costly to switch to a defensive answer and slowly wear down any opposing walls looking to absorb Latias's attacks. Nasty Plot Mew likes Latias's ability to cripple specially defensive walls that give it trouble such as Chansey; in return, Mew can blow past the likes of Heatran with Focus Blast. Jirachi can take on Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type Pokemon for Latias as well as set Stealth Rock to make it harder for the foe to switch, while Latias acts as a deterrent to Fire- and Ground-type attacks and reduces the pressure on Jirachi to use Thunder Wave to cripple fast attackers. Latios enjoys the freedom to run items other than Choice Scarf without worry, and both enjoy having the other to wear down shared answers such as Celesteela and Heatran. Alakazam is helpful to revenge kill threats that Latias cannot, such as healthy Mega Gyarados, Scolipede, and Bisharp, with Magic Guard + Focus Sash. Slowbro is useful to sponge attacks after Latias has to switch out, such as after using Draco Meteor, especially for Ice-type attacks. Mega Slowbro in particular also appreciates Latias's ability to bluff being a Mega Evolution.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mega Latias can run a bulkier EV spread such as of 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 Spe and a Bold nature to more easily take physical attacks while setting up, but the loss of Speed makes it generally not worthwhile. Ice Beam may be run on the Calm Mind set to better take on take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp, but this requires Latias to give up another more valuable move such as Stored Power or Thunderbolt. Refresh can be used over Thunderbolt to more easily set up on passive walls such as Chansey but leaves Mega Latias entirely ineffective against Dark-type Pokemon and more pressured by Haze users and phazers such as Mantine, Skarmory, and Toxapex. Surf hits the likes of Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Heatran hard, but the coverage from Thunderbolt is more important for most Psychic-type teams. Mega Latias can run a support Defog set, but this generally isn't worth taking the valuable Mega slot from Mega Gallade or Mega Slowbro. Offensive support sets such as Soul Dew and Life Orb are generally outclassed by Latios in the same role, but they can fulfill the same role should Latios be running a different set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Alolan Muk**: Alolan Muk can freely switch in on any move Latias has except Trick, and can threaten it out. To make matters worse, Alolan Muk can also punish switches with Pursuit and is such a large threat to Latias's team that it often cannot be switched into at all in any case.

**Mega Scizor**: Mega Scizor takes every attack Latias has, can recover off any damage, and proceed to threaten Latias's team with a sweep or simply gain momentum and deal heavy damage with U-turn.

**Dark-type Pokemon**: Dark-type Pokemon are immune to Latias's Psychic-type STAB moves, greatly reducing the effectiveness of the Calm Mind Mega Latias set and forcing predictions any time the Choice Scarf Latias set needs to use Psychic. To make matters worse, the some Pokemon like Bisharp have secondary typings to aid them in taking Latias's other attacks, while other Pokemon like Tyranitar are simply bulky enough to take them.

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Heatran resist both of Latias's STAB moves, allowing them to switch into and pressure Choice Scarf Latias. While most passive Steel-type Pokemon that lack Toxic may be set up on and defeated by a boosted Stored Power or coverage move from the Calm Mind Mega Latias set, these Pokemon make Latias's job significantly more difficult.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially defensive walls such as Chansey and Mantine can use their natural bulk to switch into Latias and force it out, often via Toxic, before proceeding to recover off any damage Latias has inflicted.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Fairy-type Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Clefable are immune to Draco Meteor and can threaten out Latias with supereffective attacks, but most struggle to break past Mega Latias after a few Calm Mind boosts.

**Toxic and Paralysis**: If Latias is not running Refresh, both of these status effects are major issues for it. Toxic damages Latias and prevents it from staying in for more than a few turns, making sweeping almost impossible for Mega Latias to sweep and reducing the ability of the Choice Scarf set to switch in. Paralysis, meanwhile, halves Latias's Speed stat, and both of its sets rely heavily on being able to take advantage of Latias's excellent speed tier.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong physical attackers such as Choice Band Diggersby and Dragonite make it difficult for Mega Latias to set up safely, as it cannot readily take them on without multiple Calm Mind boosts.

I don't think "Added" is the right word here, because I would think of it as compounding Psychic's weakness, which isn't the case here. Just a nitpick but I would just change "added" to "its"
* Weak to common status conditions such as paralysis and toxic, as they can prevent it from sweeping or setting up.
* Has competition from other valuable Psychic-type Mega Evolutions such as Mega Gallade and Mega Slowbro in its mega set, and from Latios for its nonmega set. I would separate these into two sentences (competition for Mega, and mention what the other two megas do very briefly and then a sentence on its competition with Latios as a Choice Scarf Pokemon and why its typically a better choice).
* Talk about its high bulk and ability to work as a defensive setup with CM when mega and how potent it is as a win condition
* Talk about its utility as well (healing wish, defog, trick)

* Calm Mind boosts Mega Latias’ Special Attack and Special Defense, simultaniously rendering it more powerful offensively and allowing it to stay in on special attackers such as Greninja or Mega Diancie after a few boosts. This sounds a little awkward to me "allowing it to stay in on special attackers" -> "allowing it to take on strong special attackers" or "allowing it to absorb attacks from special attackers"
* Recover keeps Mega Latias healthy and allows it to set up while staying at high enough HP to sweep. This also sounds awkward to me - maybe "Recover heals back any damage taken, allowing it to safely set up with Calm Mind throughout the battle" or something like that
* Stored Power scaled with all of Mega Latias’ stat boosts, which gives Mega Latias a powerful wallbreaking tool that has great synergy with Calm Mind
* Thunderbolt hits the Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Celesteela and Mega Sharpedo that can take little to no damage from Stored Power and keeps Latias from being totally helpless before it sets up. "keeps Latias from being totally helpless before it sets up" sounds weird for what you're trying to say. I'm not sure if that part is even necessary - I know what you're saying, but maybe try rephrasing?

* Victini pairs extremely well with Mega Latias, as Victini can take on the Steel- and Bug-type Pokemon that give Mega Latias trouble; in return, Mega Latias can take on the Water- and Ground-type Pokemon like Swampert and Rotom-Wash that threaten Victini I don't think Swampert is necessarily the best example here as it has both Toxic and Roar, so Mega Latias only really does something to it if you've already boosted - situational.
* Alakazam checks Dark-type Pokemon for Mega Latias with Focus Blast and Counter, and appreciates Mega Latias' ability to take on the defensive Pokemon that easily sponge Alakazam's attacks such as Mantine and Porygon2.

Probably specify that you're talking about setup mew with focus blast as it's not really clear which set you're talking about. Even then, I'm not sure that mewium-z mew is the best partner for Mega Latias as compared to say stallbreaker mew.
* Latios acts as an effective scarfer, taking on fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja and makes up for the lack of a Dragon-type STAB move on Mega Latias. Why is the lack of Dragon-type STAB relevant? Need to give a reasoning of why that's beneficial.
* Slowbro can take on Ice-type attacks for Latias, and appreciates Latias checking Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon. It can also serve as an effective check to physical wallbreakers that give Mega Latias trouble such as Diggersby and bluff being the team's mega evolution.

* 252 Speed EVs, a Choice Scarf, and a Timid nature are used to maximize Latias' Speed, allowing it to outpace the entire unboosted metagame and no small number of speed-boosting sweepers such as Mega Sharpedo. "and no small number of speed-boosting sweepers such as" is really weird phrasing. Just say "as well as other common Choice Scarf Pokemon such as x and x."
* 252 Special Attack EVs are used to maximize Latias' damage output and allow it to threaten as many Pokemon as Possible.
* Levitate is Latias' only ability, but it provides a useful immunity to Ground-type attacks and allows Latias to freely Defog Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Webs.

Usage Tips
========

* Thanks to its Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and weakened Dragon Dance Mega Gyarados, forcing them out or picking up the KO.
* Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without a boosting item, making it Latias' best choice against most neutral targets (examples); should the opponent have a Fairy-type Pokemon such as Azumarill or Tapu Koko, however, Psychic is often a better pick since it doesn't offer a free switch.
* Choice Scarf renders Defog a risky play, as it gives the foe two turns to set up or even simply KO Latias, but it's still worthwhile to remove multiple hazards layers or to improve the longevity of your win condition. (Mention opportunities when you can easily Defog such as forcing switches)
* Refrain from clicking Trick or Healing Wish until the threats Latias is needed for, such as Tapu Koko and Landorus-T, are dealt with; when the time to use it comes, aim to catch special walls such as Chansey and Celesteela on the switch-in.
* Be prepared to switch out Latias frequently after clicking Draco meteor, as the drop in Special Attack makes it relatively easy to set up on. Move this up to after the second bullet (where you talk about Draco)
* Wait to use Healing Wish until Latias is no longer needed or it becomes necessary to bring back a win condition from the brink, such as Mega Gallade against Poison.

Team Options
========

* Mega Gallade pairs well with Latias; it takes on Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Alolan Muk, while Latias deals with the faster attackers that threaten Gallade such as Life Orb Greninja and can cripple defensive walls with Trick or give Mega Gallade a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish.
* Victini appreciates Choice Scarf Latias freeing up its item slot, allowing it to run a different set such as Z-Celebrate or Choice Band; Latias also checks threatening Ground- and Water-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T or Keldeo.
* Deoxys-Speed sets hazards, making it more costly to switch to a defensive answer. Probably can expand on this a little more "slowly whittling down opposing walls looking to absorb Latias' attacks"
* Mew likes Latias' ability to cripple the specially defensive walls that give it trouble such as Chansey; in return, Mew can blow past the likes of Heatran. Again probably need to specify which mew set you're talking about
* Jirachi can take on Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type Pokemon for Latias, as well as set Stealth Rock to make it harder for the foe to switch, while Latias acts as a deterrent to Fire- and Ground-type attacks and reduces the pressure on Jirachi to use Thunder Wave to cripple fast attackers.
* Latios enjoys the freedom to run items other than Choice Scarf without worry, and both enjoy having the other to wear down shared answers such as Celesteela and Heatran.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Mega Latias can run a bulkier spread for greater easy in aking(?) physical attacks, but the loss of speed makes it generally not worthwhile.
* Ice Beam may be run on the Calm Mind set to better take on take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp, but requires that Latias give up another, more valuable move.
* Refresh can be used over Thunderbolt to set up more readily on passive walls such as Chansey but leaves Mega Latias entirely innefective against Dark-type Pokemon.
* Surf hits the likes of Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Heatran hard, but the coverage from Thunderbolt is more important for most Psychic-type teams.
* Mega Latias can run a Support Defog set, but this generally isn't worth taking the valuable Mega Slot from Mega Gallade or Slowbro
* Offensive Support sets such as Soul Dew and Life Orb are generally outclassed by Latios in the same role, but should Latios be running a different set they can fulfill the same role. Can't you simplify by saying that it's an option if Latios is running Choice Scarf?

Checks and Counters
===================

**Alolan Muk**: Alolan Muk can freely switch in on any move Latiashax(?) except trick, and then threatens it out. To make matters worse, Alolan Muk can also punish switches with Pursuit, and is such a large threat to Latias's team that it often cannot be switched into at all in any case.

**Mega Scizor**: Mega Scizor takes every attack Latias has, can recover off any damage, and proceed to threaten Latias' team with a sweep or simply gain momentum and heavy damage with U-turn.

**Dark-Type Pokemon**: Dark-type Pokemon are immune to Latias' Psychic-type stab, greatly reducing the effectiveness of the Calm Mind set and forcing 50-50's any time the choice scarf set needs to use Psychic. To make matters worse, the likes of Bisharp have secondary typings to aid them in taking Latias' other attacks, while Pokemon like Tyranitar are simply bulky enough to take them. These Pokemon can further threaten Latias with their STAB attacks, and are also nigh-impossible to switch into for Latias' team. I think the last sentence is kind of unnecessary

**Steel-type Pokemon**: Steel-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn, Excadrill, and Heatran resist both of Latias' STAB moves, allowing them to switch in and pressure Latias. While some passive steel-type Pokemon may be set up on and defeated by a boosted Stored Power or coverage move from the mega set, these Pokemon make Latias job significantly more difficult.

**Special Defensive Walls**: Specially Defensive walls can use their natural bulk to switch into Latias and force it out, often via Toxic, before proceeding to recover off any damage Latias has inflicted. Examples

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Fairy-type Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Clefable are immune to Draco Meteor and can threaten out Latias with super-effective attacks, but most struggle to break past Mega Latias after a few Calm Mind boosts.
QC 1/3 you have a bunch of typos so, just be sure to clear those up before going to gp a while later

Implimented, with one exception:
“Offensive Support sets such as Soul Dew and Life Orb are generally outclassed by Latios in the same role, but should Latios be running a different set they can fulfill the same role. Can't you simplify by saying that it's an option if Latios is running Choice Scarf?”
The actual reason in question was

Eien-03/21/2018
OO is ok
There are some weird builds with mega latios that can use it
But really unusual

So unsure how you want it changed in light of that.

[OVERVIEW]

* High Speed and solid Special Attack, alongside an excellent movepool that includes the likes of Stored Power, Draco Meteor, and Calm Mind, make it Latias a dangerous offensive threat.
* Solid secondary Dragon-type grants key resistances to Water-, Fire-, and Electric-type attacks, which allows it to take on the likes of Heatran and Mega Swampert for the team.
* Access to Levitate grants a useful immunity to ground type attacks such as Earthquake, increasing Latias’ setup chances and adding to its defensive utility. Mention a few threats this can help with, such as Landorus
* Latias' Mega set's solid bulk and access to Calm Mind allows it to function as a potent defensive setup sweeper and win condition. This is phrased very awkwardly. Just say "With access to Calm Mind and Stored Power, Mega Latias can function as a potent defensive setup sweeper and win condition"
* Choice Scarf sets bring valuable utility moves such as Defog, Trick, and Healing Wish to support the team. Choice Scarf set's main role is as an effective revenge killer that provides unique utility while also freeing up pokemon such as Latios and Victini to utilize different sets
* Its weaknesses to Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type attacks increases pressure on teammates such as Victini and Jirachi.
* Weak to common status conditions such as paralysis and toxic, as they can prevent it from sweeping or setting up. Not a full sentence.
* Has competition on its mega set from other valuable Psychic-type Mega Evolutions such as Mega Gallade and Mega Slowbro, who can help Psychic out in its troublesome Dark-type matchup or take on physical attackers such as Diggersby. It also faces some competition from Latios for its choice Scarf set, but Latios would usually prefer to run a different offensive set such as Life Orb. Choice Scarf Latios is still plenty viable, but you can say Latias running Choice Scarf frees Latios up to use these items. You might want to mention anything Scarf Latios can check that Scarf Latias cannot.

*Add a bullet discussing Latias's offensive limitations. Psychic isn't strong enough to break any walls and Draco Meteor typically forces it to retreat. Scarf Latias also doesn't have the room to run coverage to hit Steel-types, and Mega Latias has to make choices with coverage options that may end up leaving it walled.

Moves
========

* Calm Mind boosts Mega Latias' Special Attack and Special Defense, simultaniously rendering it more powerful offensively and allowing it to take on strong special attackers such as Greninja or Mega Diancie after a few boosts.
* Recover restores Mega Latias' HP, allowing it to safely set up Calm Minds throughout the match.
* Stored Power scaled with all of Mega Latias’ stat boosts, which gives Mega Latias a powerful wallbreaking tool that has great synergy with Calm Mind
* Thunderbolt hits the Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Celesteela and Mega Sharpedo that take little to no damage from Stored Power and allows Latias to deal some damage in matches where it cannot set up. Mega Sharpedo is a bad example since it likely has a speed boost to Crunch you first. I'd mention Toxapex, Mantine, or Skarmory as pokemon who could otherwise Haze or Phaze you that Thunderbolt nails.

Set Details
========

* 252 Speed EVs and a Timid Nature maximise Mega Latias’ speed, allowing it to speed tie the crowded Base 110 Speed Tier and outpace threats such as Garchomp, Blacephalon, and Alolan Ninetales.
* 252 HP EVs are placed into HP to maximise Mega Latias’ mixed bulk
* Latiasite is required to transform into Mega Latias and receive key buffs to its bulk and damage output.
* Levitate is the only ability available to Latias, but it's handy to take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T and to avoid Toxic Spikes.

Usage Tips
========

* Avoid sending Latias in until any Dark-type Pokemon on the opposing team have been weakened or KOed, as Mega Latias is reliant on uninvestd Thunderbolt to deal any damage to them.
* Bring Mega Latias in on Pokemon it walls such as Mega Charizard Y or Keldeo to safely set up.
* Setting up on special attackers is generally preferable to physical attackers, as Calm Mind's special defense boost means Latias needs to recover less often
* Avoid Toxic, as the rapidly increasing passive damage prevents Latias from effectively setting up or sleeping.
* While Latias does not enjoy the passive damage, getting Latias burned by Will-o-Wisp or Scald can be helpful to protect from Toxic in the Water- and Ghost-type matchups.
* Even if Mega Latias cannot sweep in a matchup, it can still act as a solid defensive tank and take on threats such as Heatran and Choice Scarf Excadrill.
* Keep Mega Latias healthy until it needs to set up in matchups like Electric where it plays a pivotal role in Psychic's victory. I'd maybe mention the Flying matchup here as well.

Team Options
========

* Victini pairs extremely well with Mega Latias, as Victini can take on the Steel- and Bug-type Pokemon that give Mega Latias trouble; in return, Mega Latias can take on the Water- and Ground-type Pokemon like Seismitoad and Rotom-Wash that threaten Victini
* Alakazam checks Dark-type Pokemon for Mega Latias with Focus Blast and Counter, and appreciates Mega Latias' ability to take on the defensive Pokemon that easily sponge Alakazam's attacks such as Mantine and Porygon2. Talk about a few of the other threats Sash Alakazam guarantees checks against besides Dark types, such as Scarf Heracross or Mega Diancie.
* Jirachi covers Mega Latias weaknesses to Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, while Mega Latias takes on most Fire- and Ground-type Pokemon for Jirachi; Jirachi can also give Latias a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish.
* Mew can take on the Phazers and Toxic users that Mega Latias hates with its stallbreaker set, which Latias can the use to make a clean sweep.
* Latios acts as an effective scarfer, taking on fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja and makes up for the lack of a Dragon-type STAB move on Mega Latias in the Dragon-type matchup.
Maybe use a different example than Diggersby since it gets 2HKOd by choice band frustration. Slowbro can't even OHKO it in return with Scald or cripple with Thunder Wave.

Moves
========

* Draco Meteor is Latias' strongest STAB move and its best option for revenge killing healthy Pokemon such as Mega Sharpedo, but it drops Latias Special Attack and means that Latias must often switch out after using it.
* Psychic is an effective secondary STAB move that hits Fairy-type Pokemon. I'd describe Psychic as Latias's more spammable STAB move, which you can click without having to potentially give up momentum switching out.
* Defog clears entry hazards off the field, taking pressure off hazard-weak teammates such as Victini and preventing Toxic Spikes from putting the entire team on a timer.
* Trick allows Latias to punish defensive switch-ins such as Alolan Muk, Chansey, and Mantine by removing their item and locking them into a single attack.
* Healing Wish is another option to breathe life back into an injured teammate, essentially allowing them another chance to sweep; this is particularly beneficial for the likes of Mega Gallade and Victini, who often get to worn down breaking their checks to fully fulfill their role.

* Thanks to its Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and weakened Dragon Dance Mega Gyarados, forcing them out or picking up the KO. I would vary up your examples instead of using 3 water-darks, especially since Mega Gyarados needs to be very weakened to get KOd by Draco. Maybe just refer generally to offensive threats such as Mega Lopunny or Landorus.

Draco Meteor is Latias's strongest STAB move and its best option for revenge killing healthy Pokemon such as Mega Sharpedo, but it drops Latias Special Attack, (AC) meaning and means that Latias must often switch out after using it. Thanks to its Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, Mega Lopunny, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and Landorus, forcing them out or picking up the KO. Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without a boosting item, making it Latias's best choice against most neutral targets, (AC) such as Mega Charizard Y and Hippowdon; should the opponent have a Fairy-type Pokemon such as Azumarill or Tapu Koko, however, Psychic is often a better pick, (AC) since it doesn't offer a free switch-in. Mega Gallade pairs well with Latias; it takes on Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Alolan Muk, while Latias deals with the faster attackers that threaten Gallade, (AC) such as Life Orb Greninja, (AC) and can cripple defensive walls with Trick or give Mega Gallade a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish. Victini appreciates Choice Scarf Latias freeing up its item slot, allowing it to run a different set, (AC) such as Z-Celebrate or Choice Band. Surf hits the likes of Tyranitar, Excadrill, and Heatran hard, but the coverage from Thunderbolt is more important for most Psychic-type teams. Mega Latias can run a Support supportive Defog set, but this generally isn't worth taking the valuable Mega Slot slot from Mega Gallade or Slowbro. Offensive Support support sets such as Soul Dew and Life Orb are generally outclassed by Latios in the same role, but they can fulfill the same role should Latios be running a different set they can fulfill the same role.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Alolan Muk**: Alolan Muk can freely switch in on any move Latias has except trick Trick, and then threatens can threaten it out. To make matters worse, Alolan Muk can also punish switches with Pursuit, and is such a large threat to Latias's team that it often cannot be switched into at all in any case.

**Mega Scizor**: Mega Scizor takes every attack Latias has, can recover off any damage, and proceed to threaten Latias' team with a sweep or simply gain momentum and deal heavy damage with U-turn.

**Dark-Type type Pokemon**: Dark-type Pokemon are immune to Latias' Psychic-type stab STAB moves, greatly reducing the effectiveness of the Calm Mind Mega Latias set and forcing 50-50' (remove apostrophe)s any time the Choice Scarf Latias set needs to use Psychic. To make matters worse, the likes of Bisharp has a have secondary typings typing to aid them it in taking Latias's other attacks, while Pokemon like Tyranitar are simply bulky enough to take them.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Specially Defensive defensive walls such as Chansey and Mantine can use their natural bulk to switch into Latias and force it out, often via Toxic, before proceeding to recover off any damage Latias has inflicted.

**Fairy-type Pokemon**: Fairy-type Pokemon such as Mega Diancie and Clefable are immune to Draco Meteor and can threaten out Latias with super-(RH)effective attacks, but most struggle to break past Mega Latias after a few Calm Mind boosts.

**Toxic and Paralysis**: If Latias is not running refresh Refresh, both of these status effects are major issues for it. Toxic damages Latias and prevents it from staying in for more than a few turns, making sweeping almost impossible for Mega Latias to sweep and reducing the ability of the Choice Scarf set to switch in. Paralysis, meanwhile, halves Latias's speed Speed stat, and both of its sets rely heavily on being able to take advantage of Latias's excellent speed tier.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong Physical physical attackers such as Choice band Band Diggersby and Dragonite make it difficult for Mega Latias to set up safely, as it cannot readily take them on without multiple Calm Mind boosts.

High Speed and solid Special Attack stats, alongside an excellent movepool that includes the likes of Stored Power, Draco Meteor, and Calm Mind, make Latias a dangerous offensive threat. Its solid secondary Dragon-type Dragon typing grants key resistances to Water-, Fire-, and Electric-type attacks, which allows it to take on the likes of Heatran and Mega Swampert. (AP) for the team, while Latias's access to Levitate grants it a useful immunity to ground type Ground-type attacks such as Earthquake, increasing Latias’s setup chances and adding to its defensive utility in checking threats such as Landorus. With access to Calm Mind, Recovery, and Stored Power, Mega Latias can function as a potent defensive setup sweeper and win condition, while Choice Scarf sets can act as an effective revenge killer, freeing up allowing Victini to run a different item, and brings bring ("sets" is plural, so this should be "bring") valuable utility moves such as Defog, Trick, and Healing Wish to support the team. Latias's weaknesses to Ice-, Fairy-, and Dragon-type attacks increases increase (same thing; "weaknesses" is plural) pressure on teammates such as Victini and Jirachi to check these threats. Mega Latias is also weak to common status conditions such as paralysis and toxic Toxic, which prevent it from effectively sweeping. Mega Latias has competition on its mega Mega set from other valuable Psychic-type Mega Evolutions Pokemon such as Mega Gallade and Mega Slowbro, who which (Pokemon should be referred to as "which" not "who") can help Psychic out in its troublesome Dark-type matchup or take on physical attackers such as Diggersby, respectively. Choice Scarf Latias has difficulties with common defensive Pokemon due to Psychic's low power and Draco Meteor's Special Attack reduction, while Mega Latias has limited coverage and must pick what it beats.

Calm Mind boosts Mega Latias's Special Attack and Special Defense, simultaneously rendering it more powerful offensively and allowing it to take on strong special attackers such as Greninja or and Mega Diancie after a few boosts. Recover restores Mega Latias's HP, allowing it to safely set up Calm Minds throughout the match. Stored Power scales with all of Mega Latias’s stat boosts, which gives Mega Latias a powerful wallbreaking tool that has great synergy with Calm Mind. (fixed spacing) Thunderbolt hits the Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Celesteela and Mega Sableye that take little to no damage from Stored Power and allows Latias to deal some damage in matches where it cannot set up.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs and a Timid Nature nature maximize Mega Latias’s speed, allowing it to speed Speed tie with the crowded Base base 110 Speed Tier tier and outpace threats such as Garchomp, Blacephalon, and Alolan Ninetales. 252 HP EVs are placed into HP to maximize Mega Latias's mixed bulk. Latiasite is required for Latias to transform into Mega Latias and receive key buffs to its bulk and damage output. Levitate is the only ability available to Latias, but it's handy to take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T and to avoid Toxic Spikes.

Usage Tips
========

Avoid sending Latias in until any Dark-type Pokemon on the opposing team have been weakened or KOed, as Mega Latias is reliant on uninvested Thunderbolt to deal any damage to them. Bring Mega Latias in on Pokemon it walls, (AC) such as Mega Charizard Y or and Keldeo, (AC) (these commas are subjective changes. There's a break once you reach the semicolon, so this doesn't necessarily improve readability) to safely set up; setting up on special attackers is generally preferable to physical attackers, as Calm Mind's special defense Special Defense boost means boosts mean Latias needs to recover use Recover less often on against special attackers. Avoid Toxic, as the rapidly increasing passive damage prevents Latias from effectively setting up or sweeping; while Latias does not enjoy the passive damage, getting Latias burned by Will-o-Wisp Will-O-Wisp or Scald can be helpful to protect it from Toxic in the Water- and Ghost-type matchups. Even if Mega Latias cannot sweep in a matchup, it can still act as a solid defensive tank and take on threats such as Heatran and Choice Scarf Excadrill. Keep Mega Latias healthy until it needs to set up in matchups like Electric and Flying, (AC) where it plays a pivotal role in Psychic's victory.

Team Options

Victini pairs extremely well with Mega Latias, as Victini can take on the Steel- and Bug-type Pokemon that give Mega Latias trouble; in return, Mega Latias can take on the Water- and Ground-type Pokemon, (AC) like Seismitoad and Rotom-Wash Rotom-W, (same thing here about the commas) that threaten Victini. Alakazam checks threatening offensive Pokemon such as Alolan Muk, Mega Diancie, and Choice Scarf Heracross for Mega Latias with its attacks and Counter,(RC) (this is a dependent clause) and appreciates Mega Latias's ability to take on the defensive Pokemon that easily sponge Alakazam's attacks, (AC) (this one is ok tbh) such as Mantine and Porygon2. Jirachi covers Mega Latias's weaknesses to Dragon- and Ice-type attacks, while Mega Latias takes on most Fire- and Ground-type Pokemon for Jirachi; Jirachi can also give Latias a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish. Mew can take on the Phazers phazers and Toxic users that Mega Latias hates with its stallbreaker set, which Latias can the then use to make a clean sweep. Latios acts as an effective choice scarf Choice Scarf user, taking on fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, (AC) (this was a good change. Recognizing that scenario is important) and makes up for the lack of a Dragon-type STAB move on Mega Latias in the Dragon-type matchup. Slowbro can take on Ice-type attacks for Latias,(RC) and appreciates Latias checking Electric- and Grass-type Pokemon. It can also serve as an effective check to physical wallbreakers like Mamoswine that give Mega Latias trouble such as Mamoswine and bluff being the team's mega evolution Mega Evolution.

Draco Meteor is Latias's strongest STAB move and its best option for revenge killing healthy Pokemon such as Mega Sharpedo, but it drops Latias Special Attack, (AC) meaning and means that Latias must often switch out after using it. Psychic is a weaker but more spammable reliable (I think reliable fits the sentence better, but this is subjective and up to you) (yeah usually "spammable" is discouraged) secondary STAB move that hits Fairy-type Pokemon and doesn't force Latias to switch out. Defog clears entry hazards off the field, taking pressure off hazard-weak teammates such as Victini and preventing Toxic Spikes from putting the entire team on a timer. Trick allows Latias to punish defensive switch-ins such as Alolan Muk, Chansey, and Mantine by removing their item and locking them into a single attack, while Healing Wish is another option to breathe life back into an injured teammate, essentially allowing them another chance to sweep; this is particularly beneficial for the likes of Mega Gallade and Victini, who which often get too worn down when breaking through their checks to fully fulfill their role.

252 Speed EVs, a Choice Scarf, and a Timid nature are used to maximize Latias's Speed, allowing it to outpace the entire unboosted metagame and most Choice Scarf users or speed boosting Speed-boosting attackers, most notably Victini and Mega Sharpedo. 252 Special Attack EVs are used to maximize Latias's damage output and allow it to threaten as many Pokemon as possible. Levitate is Latias's only ability, but it provides a useful immunity to Ground-type attacks and allows Latias to freely Defog away Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Webs Web, the last of which is particularly useful against Bug-type teams to check the likes of Choice Scarf Heracross. (AP)

Usage Tips
========

Thanks to its (the "its" here is fine) Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, Mega Lopunny, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and Landorus, forcing them out or picking up the KO. Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without a boosting item, making it Latias's best choice against most neutral targets, (AC) (this is another subjective comma) such as Mega Charizard Y and Hippowdon; should the opponent have a Fairy-type Pokemon such as Azumarill or Tapu Koko, however, Psychic is often a better pick, (AC) since it doesn't offer a free opportunity to switch-in in. Be prepared to switch out Latias frequently after clicking using Draco Meteor, as the drop in Special Attack makes it relatively easy to set up on. Choice Scarf renders Defog a risky play, as it gives the foe two turns to set up or even simply KO Latias, but it's usually still worthwhile to remove multiple hazard layers or to improve the longevity of your win condition wincon, particularly on free turns such as forced switches or against passive Pokemon such as like Mantine. Refrain from clicking using Trick until the threats Latias is needed for, such as Tapu Koko and Landorus-T, are dealt with; when the time to use Trick comes, aim to catch special walls such as Chansey and Celesteela on the switch-in switch (the phrase is just "on the switch"); similarly, it's important to wait to use Healing Wish until Latias is no longer needed or it (keep the "it") becomes necessary to bring back a win condition teammate from the brink, such as Mega Gallade against Poison.

Mega Gallade pairs well with Latias; it takes on Steel- and Dark-type Pokemon such as Ferrothorn and Alolan Muk, while Latias deals with the faster attackers that threaten Gallade, (AC) such as Life Orb Greninja, (AC) (subjective. It really is best to leave it the way it was unless you know for certain that it improves flow/readability) and can cripple defensive walls with Trick or give Mega Gallade a second chance to sweep with Healing Wish. Victini appreciates Choice Scarf Latias freeing up its item slot, allowing it to run a different set, (AC) (same thing) such as Z-Celebrate or Choice Band. Victini also appreciates the fact that Latias checks threatening Ground- and Water-type Pokemon such as Landorus-T or and Keldeo. Deoxys-Speed Deoxys-S sets entry hazards, making which makes make it more costly to switch to a defensive answer and slowly wearing wears wear down any opposing walls looking to absorb Latias's attacks. Nasty Plot Mew likes Latias's ability to cripple the specially defensive walls that give it trouble, (AC) (same thing) such as Chansey; in return, Mew can blow past the likes of Heatran with Focus Blast. Jirachi can take on Ice-, Dragon-, and Fairy-type Pokemon for Latias, (RC) as well as set Stealth Rock to make it harder for the foe to switch, while Latias acts as a deterrent to Fire- and Ground-type attacks and reduces the pressure on Jirachi to use Thunder Wave to cripple fast attackers. Latios enjoys the freedom to run items other than Choice Scarf without worry, and both enjoy having the other to wear down shared answers such as Celesteela and Heatran. Alakazam is helpful to revenge kill threats that Latias cannot, such as healthy Mega Gyarados, Scolipede, and Bisharp, (RC) (this comma must stay because there was a comma before the "such as") with Magic Guard + Focus Sash. Slowbro is useful to sponge attacks after Latias has to switch out, (AC) (this one is fine) such as after using Draco Meteor, especially for Ice-type attacks. Mega Slowbro in particular also appreciates Latias's ability to bluff being a mega evolution Mega Evolution.

Mega Latias can run a bulkier EV spread such as of 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 Spe EVs, 96 Defense EVs, and 160 Speed EVs (the original is how it's supposed to be written. I would just add "EV" before the word "spread" like I did) with a Bold nature to more easily take physical attacks more easily while setting up, but the loss of speed Speed makes it generally not worthwhile. Ice Beam may be run on the Calm Mind set to better take on take on Ground-type Pokemon such as Garchomp, but this requires that Latias to give up another, (AC) (should be "RC" but yeah) more valuable move such as Stored Power or Thunderbolt.

**Physical Wallbreakers**: Strong Physical physical attackers such as Choice Band Diggersby and Dragonite make it difficult for Mega Latias to set up safely, as it cannot readily take them on without multiple Calm Mind boosts.

Mega Latias is also weak to common status conditions such as paralysis and Toxic, which prevent it from effectively sweeping.(space)Mega Latias has competition from other valuable Psychic-type Mega Pokemon Evolutions such as Mega Gallade and Mega Slowbro, which can help Psychic out in its troublesome Dark-type matchup or take on physical attackers such as Diggersby, respectively. Choice Scarf Latias has difficulties with common defensive Pokemon due to Psychic's low power and Draco Meteor's Special Attack reduction, while Mega Latias has limited coverage and must pick what it beats.

Moves
========

Calm Mind boosts Mega Latias's Special Attack and Special Defense, simultaneously rendering it more powerful offensively and allowing it to take on strong special attackers such as Greninja and Mega Diancie after a few boosts.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Avoid sending Latias in until any Dark-type Pokemon on the opposing team have been weakened or KOed, as Mega Latias is reliant on uninvested Thunderbolt to deal any damage to them. Bring Mega Latias in on Pokemon it walls such as Mega Charizard Y and Keldeo to safely set up; setting up on special attackers is generally preferable to physical attackers, as Calm Mind's Special Defense boosts mean Latias needs to use Recover less often against special attackers.

========

Victini pairs extremely well with Mega Latias, as Victini can being able to take on Steel- and Bug-type Pokemon that give Mega Latias trouble; in return, Mega Latias can take on Water- and Ground-type Pokemon like Seismitoad and Rotom-W that threaten Victini.

Moves
========

Draco Meteor is Latias's strongest STAB move and its best option for revenge killing healthy Pokemon such as Mega Sharpedo, but it drops Latias its Special Attack, meaning drops mean Latias must often switch out after using it.

Set Details
========

252 Speed EVs, Choice Scarf, and a Timid nature are used to maximize Latias's Speed, allowing it to outpace the entire unboosted metagame and most Choice Scarf users or Speed-boosting attackers, most notably Victini and Mega Sharpedo. 252 Special Attack EVs are used to maximize Latias' Latias's damage output and allow it to threaten as many Pokemon as possible.

Usage Tips
========

Thanks to its Choice Scarf, Latias can revenge kill fast threats such as Life Orb Greninja, Mega Lopunny, +1 Mega Sharpedo, and Landorus, forcing them out or picking up the KO. Draco Meteor hits extremely hard even without a boosting item, making it Latias's best choice against most neutral targets such as Mega Charizard Y and Hippowdon; should the opponent have a Fairy-type Pokemon such as Azumarill or Tapu Koko, however, Psychic is often a better pick, (AC) since it doesn't offer a free opportunity to switch in. (AP) Similarly, it's important to wait to use Healing Wish until Latias is no longer needed or it becomes necessary to bring back a teammate from the brink, such as Mega Gallade against Poison.

Team Options
========

=============

Refresh can be used over Thunderbolt to more easily set up on passive walls such as Chansey (RC) but leaves Mega Latias entirely ineffective against Dark-type Pokemon and leaves it more pressured by Haze users and phazers such as Mantine, Skarmory, and Toxapex.

===================

**Alolan Muk**: Alolan Muk can freely switch in on any move Latias has except Trick (RC) and can threaten it out. To make matters worse, Alolan Muk can also punish switches with Pursuit and is such a large threat to Latias's team that it often cannot be switched into at all in any case.

**Mega Scizor**: Mega Scizor takes every attack Latias has, can recover off any damage, and proceed to threaten Latias' Latias's team with a sweep or simply gain momentum and deal heavy damage with U-turn.
