[OVERVIEW]

Latias is a highly versatile Pokemon in the meta, its blazing speed and decent bulk make it one of the best utility Pokemon in the tier. While its offensive prowess is lower than its counterpart Latios, its place in the meta is overall more defensive. Its access to Healing Wish and Defog while having good bulk and speed make Latias a staple on more offensive teams. Latias can be used as a general defensive Pokemon as its bulk and typing make it able to check much of the threats roaming around in this meta. Latias is also a great user of Stored Power as it's much bulkier than Latios, which is ideal for such an all-or-nothing set. However, Latias as a defensive Pokemon can be easily exploited, as it will usually have to Recover to check the threats its tasked with.

[SET]
name: Defensive
move 1: Defog / TWave
move 2: Roost
move 3: Surf / Thunderbolt
move 4: Draco Meteor / Ice Beam
item: Leftovers
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
This Latias set is a check to many dangerous Pokemon such as Infernape, Breloom, and Rotom-W. Psychic is Latias's most reliable attacking move as it allows Latias to heavily damage Psychic weak targets such as Breloom, Infernape, and Nidoking, while allowing Latias to hit Fairy-types such as Togekiss, and Azumarill. Draco Meteor is a good strong attack to weaken targets for its teammates, and to hit Dark-type Pokemon such as Crawdaunt, and Weavile. Defog is a good utility move and good role compression as Latias beats Stealth Rock setters such as Infernape, and Garchomp. Roost is important to keep Latias healthy to check the threats its tasked to checking.

Defensive Latias is best used as a bulky attacker to fall back on as it checks many threats such as Infernape, Breloom, and Rotom-W while being a good general Defogger. Latias appreciates Pokemon that can eliminate Dark-types that it struggles with, so Fighting-type Pokemon such as Infernape, Lucario and, Breloom fits well, and can deal with Steel-types that Latias also struggles with. Latias and Clefable is a great defensive core, being able to repell threats the other struggles with. Other Pokemon such as Mamoswine also appreciates Latias's ability to check Infernape, and Rotom-W.

[SET]
name: Calm Mind
move 1: Stored Power
move 2: Substitute / Dragon Pulse
move 3: Calm Mind
move 4: Recover
item: Leftovers / Soul Dew
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Stored Power is Latias's best attacking move as Stored Power's base power grows larger as Latias uses Calm Mind, which makes it able to do crazy wallbreaking feats. Substitute is a good option as it protects Latias from dangerous status such as Rotom-W and Blissey's Thunder Wave while also preventing it from being revenge killed. Dragon Pulse is useful to hit Dark-types and Psychic-types neutrally while not having any drawbacks. Leftovers is the preferred item as it keeps you healthy with little drawback as the pure power wont decrease much. Soul Dew is a good alternative if you need more immediate power.

Calm Mind Latias fits best on bulkier teams that give it room to set up as without boosts, it is extremely passive. Latias appreciates Fighting-type teammates such as Breloom and Infernape that can handle Dark-type and Ice-type Pokemon. Latias also appreciates teammates that can keep it safe, Pokemon such as Blissey, and Clefable usually works.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Draco Meteor
move 2: Psychic
move 3: Defog / Surf
move 4: Healing Wish
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Levitate
nature: Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Draco Meteor is useful to revenge kill opposing Dragon-types such as Latios, and Garchomp, while being a good tool to hit Dark-types such as Weavile, and Crawdaunt. Defog is a good filler move as Latias uses it well by beating Stealth Rockers such as Garchomp, and Infernape while being good role compression, but Surf can also be utilized to hit Heatran for super effective damage. Healing Wish is a potent utility move which sacrifices Latias to heal another ally completely, and the reason why Choice Scarf Latias is so effective. Choice Scarf is useful to outspeed faster Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Garchomp, Alakazam, and Starmie, making its Healing Wish uninterrupted. However, strong priority such as Mamoswine and Weavile's Ice Shard, and Scizor's Bullet Punch can interrupt Healing Wish if Latias is chipped enough.

Choice Scarf Latias fits best on offensive teams that appreciate its Healing Wish, in addition of being able to revenge kill Latios, Garchomp, and Breloom. Offensive powerhouses such as Feraligatr, Swords Dance Lucario, Garchomp, Mamoswine, and Dragon Dance Dragonite can effectively be given another chance at life and a chance to finish their sweeps. Stealth Rock weak Pokemon such as Dragonite, and Weavile also appreciate Latias Defogging hazards out of their way.

Other Options
=============

Latias can use Sleep Talk to fuction as a Spore absorber, and being a better Breloom check, but this use is too niche and Defog is usually a much better utility move. Latias can use a dual screens set to support its teammates however, its largely outclassed by Azelf, and Espeon. Latias can use Wish to pass it to its teammates, however, its outclassed by Clefable, and Umbreon, as well as not being a great option as Healing Wish and Defog are better utility options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Scizor, Jirachi, and Heatran can tank many of Latias's hits due to their bulk and do serious damage however, Heatran and Scizor are prone to getting chipped and can be broken through with Stored Power. Jirachi however can tank most hits and is quad-resistant against Psychic-type moves and is a great Latias check.

**Dark-Types*: Dark-types such as Tyranitar and Weavile can both switch in on Psychic-type moves and do serious damage, they also can stop Stored Power sweeps from happening. Tyranitar specifically is a good counter to Latias as it can shrug off hits with Sandstorm and can OHKO with Stealh Rock and Sandstorm chip.

**Blissey**: Blissey can tank many big hits from Latias and can slow down Latias with Thunder Wave, however its passiveness can be exploited by Calm Mind Latias to break through Blissey with Stored Power.

**Mamoswine**: With chip from its teammates, Mamoswine can effectively Revenge Kill Latias with Ice Shard. Due to Latias's lower power level, Mamoswine, in a pinch can also barely survive unboosted Draco Meteor, allowing it to launch an Icicle Crash if Ice Shard isnt enough.

hi, unfortunately as i was going through this there are too many mistakes both meta knowledge wise as well as the quality of writing, and I oftentimes had to ask to rewrite entire paragraphs.

so for now, I'm going to qc reject this, and ask u to put it back into wip and work thru it once again. some points to pick off on are expand more on a lot of ur sections, mainly on the teammates part esp mentioning defensive partners, latias is overall a defensive pokemon, so some more emphasis on that in the form of partners r appreciated. furthermore, the sp set is used on bulkier teams as it is extremely passive w/o boosts and easily dealt with due to lack of immediate power, rendering the cm set not good on ho, also change the defensive move set to this

move 1: Defog / TWave
move 2: Roost
move 3: Surf / Thunderbolt
move 4: Draco Meteor / Ice Beam

with psychic in set details

lastly, u rlly need to go more into its defensive utility and what it can punish, and why it isn't just a worse tios, bc rn it just seems like ur focusing on its offensive partners. oh also pls don't use "lower attacking stat" or similar stuff, smtg like "less offensive prowess" is much better
