not necessarily - manamune does give you a weak early game compared to perhaps a sheen/phage rush or maybe a brutalizer

So, I want to get started on LoL. I played it for about a week many months ago, and it was fairly fun, even though I had no idea what I was doing. I forgot the name of the character I played with, but she had ice arrows and was pretty fun. Is there a guide where I could get started (not like controls, but good strategies and item builds)?
Try the website solomid. It has a lot of guides for individual characters. Also the character you where playing was ashe. She is quite easy to play and is quick to unlock being only 450ip.
Bought Teemo, but I suck at LOL in general, so it took me forever to grind enough...

Early Wriggles into Wit's End/Malady into Cleaver into defense and maybe Triforce if you're really cocky or Mallet if you're not. Split push all game.
never join teamfights and I mean NEVER because you have mediocre damage, short range and average tankiness
just push lanes really hard and use one of your four escape mechanisms (p, q, w, r) when they inevitably come to gank you

Start with Doran's Blade, Build to Beserkers Greaves, then Maladay, Wit's End, Madreds Bloodrazor, then Frozen Mallet, then the filler defensive items. Sell dorans somewhere in there.
I don't get why they didn't just add a passive Spell Vamp/Lifesteal reduction as part of the Crystal Scar aura (since apparently, Jax and Akali's survivability with Gunblades in Dominion is the reason for the nerf). that would make it so Jax is put into check on Dominion but still the same on rift.
also, about the Gunblade's power being to good on Dominion, it's not even in the list of Riot's recommended items for Akali. I know the recommended items are BS in the first place, but it seems pretty contradictory that they're nerfing an item for a champ who apparently shouldn't even be getting the item in the first place.

Akali is a snowballer. If you don't feed her kills andl et her free farm all game, she is manageable, at least on Summoner's Rift. I don't play Dominion nearly enough to know how she works there. If you play cautiously, and with the knoiwledge that she will snowball to being completely unstoppable, you'll do fine. Akali feeds on poor play, she is definitely not op/
Crystal Scar has an ambient 20% healing reduction which not only applies for regular heals such as Soraka's ultimate but also to regeneration and presumably applies to lifesteal/spellvamp. That doesn't stop stacking Gunblades from being just as powerful.
Most of the recommended items aren't up-to-date with the current metagame and even if they are, the metagame shifts so quickly that it doesn't matter. Four months ago, everyone was rushing a Deathcap on Akali and WotA was considered a terrible item. Getting Gunblade was a "last item" on her just so you could get her passive without buying a Doran's Blade (although every good Akali player should be running AD runes and masteries anyway so they don't even need the Blade).
With rushing a Revolver being so powerful, it's very strong now to just rush a Gunblade since it lets you chase, 1v1, and boosts your damage significantly.
I guess you guys don't experience this often, being at lvl 30, but around my level, people seem to be confused/downright angry when I say I'm jungling. One person asked me if I was midding in one game. In another, they made me mid instead when we had both Teemo and Ashe IN THE SAME LANE. And in yet another game, top and bot were bitching at me from the 1:30 mark, while I was asking someone to leash blue for me. And when I tried to explain that getting my champ off the ground early without jungling (Amumu) would be a bit difficult, they asked me why I use him then.
Idk, it's starting to annoy me a lot, since my main group of champs atm are ww/Rammus/Amumu (and Sona once I buy her, since people seem to love it when I use her), and I can't jungle right when everyone complains. In only one game I've played has someone offered to leash for me. I was blown away by that, since most people ignore me when I ask for a leash (since my runes suck, I get super close to dying when going for blue at lvl 1).
Also, I like your Amumu guide, Jebus. It's definitely more in-depth than the others, that's for sure.

i don't know what level you are but at low levels jungling isn't worth it because of exactly what you said (and also if you're below 20 you don't have the best runes and you will jungle really poorly with almost every champ)
at low levels, almost every player is really bad, and they have absolutely no idea how to 1v2
if you're going to attempt jungling, you need to be high enough level to be able to both clear the jungle quickly AND be able to gank, and you also need to know that whoever is in the 1v2 lane actually knows what to do (stay at the tower instead of being stupidly overaggressive, which is what most bad players do).
in one of my games, we had a trundle jungling, and one of my other teammates decided he didn't want to 1v2 and ran up to kill the jungle monsters with him, taking his gold/xp and making us lose the tower quickly because nobody was there to defend. that was pretty much when i decided i was not going to try jungling until i am with players who know what they're doing

I just played with a jungle Warwick. He asked before locking in if it would be okay. Our Teemo said he could 1v2 top as long as WW did a good job of ganking. They did amazing. Teemo went 18/2/10. Warwick's ganks led to a ton of kills early game. I'm level 24 and have an over 50% win percentage in normals though. So I don't know if I'm getting to the point where there are some good players in my matches. The other team didn't jungle and it hurt them bad as WW, Teemo, and I leveled up too fast for them. Led to a surrender as we were hitting their nexus turrets.
