Alolan Dugtrio has established a strong niche for itself in the LGPE OverUsed tier, being able to perform well as an offensive Pokemon while providing noteworthy defensive utility. It is one of the best Stealth Rock users in the tier thanks to its good Speed and Attack stats and its useful typing. Notably, its typing gives it an immunity to both poison and paralysis, and allows it to comfortably switch into Zapdos. It also allows Alolan Dugtrio to check the likes of Alolan Muk, Nidoqueen, and Nidoking offensively. The amount of threats Alolan Dugtrio handles makes it easy for it to set up Stealth Rock early on in the game, as it can easily come in on a double switch or with momentum from a teammate and use Stealth Rock as the opponent is forced out. Sucker Punch is another useful tool that allows it to handle faster threats such as Mega Alakazam and Mega Gengar, and also pick off boosted Pokemon such as Cloyster. Finally, Alolan Dugtrio can also use Rock Slide instead of Stealth Rock, giving it the coverage to hit Flying-types such as Zapdos and Dragonite for immediate damage rather than relying on Toxic.

Alolan Dugtrio has established a strong niche for itself in the LGPE Overused tier, being able to perform as an offensive pokemon while still providing great noteworthy Dugtrio's typing versus Zapdos is important, but otherwise its defensive value is anything but great defensive utility. Alolan Dugtrio is one of the best Stealth Rock users in the tier, distinguishing itself thanks to its good Speed and Attack stats, ability to spread Toxic, other Stealth Rock users are capable of doing this reliably and great offensive and defensive useful typing Dugtrio's typing isn't unique offensively for a Stealth Rock user as it has no usable Steel STAB, but it is definitely useful. Its typing notably gives it an immunity to both poison and paralysis, and allows it to switch in on Zapdos and offensively check the likes of Zapdos, Alolan Muk, Nidoqueen, and Nidoking. The amount of threats Alolan Dugtrio handles makes it really easy it usually is, but the extent to which Dugtrio can be punished for a wrong prediction makes it slightly less free for it to set up Stealth Rock early on in the game, as it can easily come in on a double switch or momentum from a teammate, and set them up as they are forced out. Sucker Punch is another useful tool Alolan Dugtrio has that allows it to revenge kill boosted pokémon like weakened Cloyster, and better handle faster threats such as Mega Alakazam and Mega Gengar, both of which it can take a hit from I'd switch this around so naturally faster threats are mentioned first, as they are the more common and likely target. Finally, Alolan Dugtrio can also opt to go with Rock Slide instead of Stealth Rock, which gives it the coverage to hit Flying-types such as Zapdos and Dragonite for immediate damage rather than using Toxic Zapdos can be threatened via Toxic alone.
