Gen 1 Lickitung (UU Mini) [DONE]

[OVERVIEW]

In the first generation of Pokemon, Normal-types aren't to be taken lightly, due to boasting powerful STAB moves such as Body Slam, Hyper Beam, and Double-Edge. Even in UU, given the might of Dodrio, Persian, and Kangaskhan, Lickitung exists to prove that not all Normal-types are created equal. Lickitung looks promising with its access to STAB Wrap and Swords Dance, amazing coverage options, potential to spread paralysis with Body Slam, and great base 90 HP. However, it falls short literally everywhere else due to its absolutely horrendous stats. For these reasons, Lickitung remains a terrible Pokemon in RBY UU, and it shouldn't be used unless you're looking to torture yourself.

[SET COMMENTS]

If you're going to experience the torture of using Lickitung, it's best to utilize its most unique trait: STAB Wrap. However, it's initally Lickitung's Wrap is still very weak, barely passing 4% on most neutral targets before boosting; after a boost, however, it has the damage output to match Dragonite Wrap critical hits, averaging around 8% on neutral targets. Paralysis support is absolutely paramount to even give this thing the time of day due to its atrocious base 30 Speed. Teammates such as Kadabra and Hypno can be very useful in that regard, as they can spread status without much trouble. Earthquake allows Lickitung to hit Omastar and Haunter with super effective damage, but, due to Lickitung's poor stats, it's still a 2HKO on the former after a Swords Dance. Lickitung can use Body Slam repeatedly in order to spread its own paralysis, but it's still walled effectively by Hypno if it doesn't manage to get a paralysis off, and it can be removed incredibly easily by most special attackers due to its pitiful Special stat.

Oh boy, this is certainly...a Pokemon. Anyway, most of my criticisms are grammar fixes.

Big thing I want to see is something like "Lickitung should not be used on a competitive RBY UU team, and Pokemon like Persian and Kangaskhan should be used instead." in that overview.

In the first generation of Pokemon, Normal types are seen as a threat not to be taken lightly, due to their access to powerful STABs such as Body Slam, Hyper Beam, and Double-Edge.
Could reword this to something like "Normal-types aren't to be taken lightly" for simplicity maybe.

Lickitung looks promising with its access to STAB Wrap and Swords Dance, amazing coverage options, spread paralysis with Body Slam, and great base 90 HP, yet falls short literally everywhere else due to its absolutely horrendous stats.
This isn't grammatically correct. Maybe "potential to..." to prefix it.

If you're going to take the suffering of using Lickitung
"If you're going to experience the torture of using Lickitung" or something. Right now it isn't grammatically correct.

Although, it's pathetically weak
"However, it's initially quite weak" may be better as build-up to the surprisingly strong SD Wrap Licki

it has a slightly notable damage output
"slightly" is putting it lightly, it is genuinely really good damage. Since opps will have to switch around Lickitung, the damage racks up super quickly.

Body Slam can be pressed repeatedly in order for it to spread its own paralysis, but it's walled outright by Hypno, and killed incredibly easily by most special attackers.
"pressed" isn't necessarily the right word, something like "used" may be better. Lickitung isn't necessarily stonewalled by Hypno either if it's paralyzed and Lickitung is at +2 as it can then proceed to force Hypno out with Wrap spam. It's really silly...but Hypno is meant to just hit it, as that's how Lickitung loses (Hypno Psychic vs. Lickitung: 148-174 (38.6 - 45.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO)

Get back to me when you implement this.

Just grammar this time. Want to reduce the workload on GP for these analyses when possible.

Lickitung exists to prove that not all normal types are created equally
*Normal-types

*potential

and great base 90 HP, yet falls short literally everywhere else due to its absolutely horrendous stats.
Split off where I bolded here, something like "However, it...". I'm pretty sure it's a run-on sentence otherwise.

has a notable damage output to match that of Dragonite critical hits
"has the damage output to match..." or something like that

Paralysis support is absolutely paramount to even giving this thing the time of day
*give

due to it's pitiful Special stat.
*its

Implement this for QC 1/2!

In set overview, I'd like to see a mention of Persian with Dodrio and Khan. And I'd add one more sentence at the end, something along the lines of "For this reason, Lickitung shouldn't be used in UU unless you want to challenge yourself" or something. Because I feel like there's not enough emphasis on how bad it is as of right now.

Once that's in, QC 2/2

If you're going to experience the torture of using Lickitung, it's best to utilize its (removed apostrophe) most unique trait: (comma -> colon) STAB Wrap.
