[OVERVIEW]
Lotad differentiates itself from other Swift Swim users with its perfect neutral coverage and key neutralities to Electric- and Grass-type attacks. However, with such abysmal stats across the board, Lotad is still a dysfunctional Swift Swim abuser, facing fierce competition for teamslots from Pokemon such as Omanyte and Mantyke. Furthermore, rain hyper offensive playstyles are exceedingly rare, making it even harder for Lotad to find its way onto teams. Lastly, Lotad is picked off easily by priority attackers such as Timburr due to its lack of Eviolite and terrible bulk. Lotad is also exceedingly slow, outsped by Choice Scarf users such as Pawniard even under rain.

[SET]
name: Rain Sweeper
move 1: Surf
move 2: Giga Drain
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Rain Dance
item: Life Orb
ability: Swift Swim
nature: Modest
evs: 116 Def / 196 SpA / 196 Spe
ivs: 19 HP

[SET COMMENTS]
Lotad should try to utilize its perfect neutral coverage to fire off as many attacks as possible under the limited duration of rain. However, this is easier said than done, as Lotad's exceedingly poor bulk limits it from ever directly switching in, mandating team support beyond what other Swift Swim abusers such as Kabuto and Omanyte need. Lotad is rather weak, however, making the support it requires not worthwhile when significantly better options exist.

Lotad should try to utilize its perfect neutral coverage to fire off as many attacks as possible under the limited duration of rain. However, this is easier said and done, as Lotad's exceedingly poor bulk limits it from ever directly switching in, mandating team support above and beyond what other Swift Swim abusers such as Anorith and Kabuto and Omanyte. need such as Explosion from Damp Rock Voltorb to switch in safely and entry hazards from setters such as Ferroseed or Omanyte. Lotad is rather weak however, making the support it requires not worthwhile when significantly better options exist.

so anorith isn't actually a "common" swift swim abuser due to a lack of water STAB and being generally prone to just not beating mienfoo, timb, etc. I feel like this section goes a bit too far into the weeds of the set, instead of telling people what makes this mon bad.

abysmal Special Attack and Speed
stats across the board.

Croagunk.
Croagunk and Lotad do not compete for the same slot on a team. While they both might benefit from rain, they are vastly different.

Lotad is also picked off easily by priority attackers such as Timburr due its lack of Eviolite and terrible bulk.
Switch this in front of the Choice Scarf line, revenge kill first makes more sense to me than outspeed and revenge.

name: Rain Sweeper
move 1: Surf
move 2: Giga Drain / Energy Ball
Does Energy Ball do literally anything for this thing? It seems like Giga Drain will always be better.

Whatever, there's not much you can do to save this thing.
