NOC Low Power Mafia -- Mafia Win

the users online list got lost bc it fucked w/ the xenforo update, it was crashing the forum. chaos is trying to bring it back (as recently as saturday) but it didnt work then. Nuxl

I never used to like open setups. They are somewhat different beasts than closed. One of my gripes, and its present here, is that many townies are effectively pseudo ICs or named townies. 6 of us have a role we can claim to pretty much town ourselves. Sure mafia can fakeclaim but in general they won't/shouldn't.

The bell ringer is actually negative utility. They probably should never claim really. I guess it mitigates some of the named townie skew for town. They can't be protected right? So ya.

The mafia rolecop is probably a bigger pr for them than vanilliZer because most of the town power is just being named towns. This does feel a bit swingy though because the mafia get a backup to a town role. Also town gets a vig only if they gain a tempo by protecting someone. Oh ya also mafia can hijack a vigshot by killing someone who didn't even know they had it.

And presumably the gun wont be randed to mafia(?) so that is yet another named townie who can claim their shot after it happens to become an IC, barring a mafia fake CC. Unless there is a chance the real gunbearer was killed and it was stolen. Also what happens if the gunbearer is voted? I guess it goes to the next townie? Still, its likely whoever claims the gun will be town. I played DBDs ITA game and my takeaway from that is that its awkward to use a public vig role as mafia. If I were mafia, Id just use the vig as a blatant second maf kill and not even claim it. Just like DBD didnt claim my feuit vendor in JALMONT mafia. Know what Im saying? Im going to bet that CK knows what Im saying.

Im not sure when it is best to claim. The vigshot should be available on N3 so its possible that D4 is a strong time to claim. If mafia fails to eliminate enough named towns by then, they could just lose mechanically.

I kind of think its not the worst idea to vote off the bell role D1. That way we go to D2 and the vigshot should activate on N3 (as it would otherwise) except mafia only gets 1 kill instead of 2 before town has a chance to use it. Having the gun stolen by mafia is very bad and very random. Halving the odds for that to happen at the cost of a milleresque role is not bad probably. But if I were the ringer I might refuse to claim it cause i don't like being voted for any reason lol.

The first people Im going to sort are CK and Skipper. That will be my townblock if they are in fact town. And you two better hope you are, especially Skipper.

Celever graciously gifted me a town pm so this is my chance to take one home for the home team after months (years?) of smogon NOC town failures. Im bringing every trick and trap I have.

Flandrs, I hope you are town cause I feel bad you were on such an NOC maf streak. Im not going to try and read you though. I will use my crystal ball and consult with the heavens midgame to divine your alignment if we both make it there, but we wont most likely.

Lechen, I curse you with a town PM. You may like being mafia aligned but you are a strong town player and I want you in my camp this game. Playing town is difficult and can be an uphill struggle. But right now I assure you you dont want to be maf. Put in some effort and show me that you are ready to bring home a well earned W.

PRs mass claim before endgame, no prs definitely should claim d1 unless they’re being wagoned (and unfortunately you’re probably right in that we should vote bell when they do) but there’s no point in claiming as of current as mafia can stop you

dont see why we would vote off a guaranteed townie n1, and mafia can rand vanillize them by accident

This is a villagery post I think, bar the yapping (which in and of itself seems line a decent stream of consciousness) I think the whole thing about wanting to sort me/skipper is genuine

Day 1 (READ THIS POST)

An update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Team Fortress 2. The major changes include:
  • Reverted BLU Scout pants fix because it conflicts with too many existing cosmetics
  • Updated the Fleet Commander again to fix import problems from the previous update
  • Updated the Phantom Plague and Haunting Haze Unusual effects to fix sometimes spawning away from the player
  • Updated cp_freaky_fair
    • Fixed issues related to the gamemode logic
      • Reapplied check that was mistakenly removed to check if the player is actively buying upgrades in a station or not
        Implemented new custom system to refund upgrades to hopefully address inconsistencies both in-round and across rounds

      • Re-encoded all Zombie Infection sound effects as .WAV
        • This fixes issues with sound effects not playing correctly and spewing errors in the console

      • Fixed a bug that caused Sniper's Spit Pool to deal much more damage than intended
      • Fixed a bug that caused team names to not display correctly when playing on mp_tournament mode
      • Fixed a bug where Engineer would sometimes scream like a charging Demoman while throwing an EMP Grenade
    • Zombie Changes
      • Sniper's Spit Pool damage vs Survivors no longer stacks when standing in multiple zones
      • Zombie Heavy is no longer immune to Critical Hits
      • Zombie Heavy's max health raised to 525 (from 450)
      • Zombie Pyro's max health raised to 250 (from 175)
      • Zombie Pyro now drops a medium health kit on death
    • Survivor Changes
      • Crossbow weapons no longer have a flat damage multiplier against Zombies
      • The B.A.S.E Jumper can no longer be deployed if you are one of the last three survivors
      • Jumper Weapons can no longer store reserve ammunition
  • Updated zi_murky (additional changes)
    • Added more respawn room triggers around the new spawn zones
