[OVERVIEW]

Lunatone is hard to justify on teams, as it is outclassed completely by Mesprit, which possesses greater bulk, greater speed, a better defensive typing, and overall greater utility on teams. Lunatone's only niche is to attempt to sweep using Rock Polish to outspeed most Pokemon in the tier, but unfortunately, Lunatone faces major competition from Omastar as a setup sweeper due to Omastar dealing much more damage than Lunatone. Lunatone's typing hinders it greatly, as it is weak to common typings such as Dark, Water, and Bug and is susceptible to priority such as Sucker Punch from Pokemon like Skuntank. Furthermore, Lunatone is quite slow before a Rock Polish, and common offensive Pokemon in the tier such as Primeape, Lilligant and Kabutops are able to outspeed it and take it out with ease, giving it a hard time actually setting up Rock Polish. Lunatone finds itself lacking the power to hit bulkier opposing Pokemon such as Eelektross and Alolan Exeggutor, and these Pokemon are able to whittle it down with their STAB moves.

[SET]
name: Offensive
move 1: Psychic / Psyshock
move 2: Power Gem
move 3: Earth Power
move 4: Rock Polish
item: Life Orb
ability: Levitate
nature: Modest / Timid
evs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Lunatone has to rely on Rock Polish to have a better chance of beating faster offensive threats and proceeds to try and hit as hard as it can. However, this set is very hard to use in practice because defensively, Lunatone is too vulnerable to the common typings in the meta and finds it very hard to set up on anything that can hit it too hard and take it out. If you're looking for an offensive Psychic-type, Mesprit is preferred over Lunatone, since Mesprit has less weaknesses, is faster, and can deal much more damage than Lunatone, especially with its Choice Specs set. Omastar is also preferred over Lunatone because it is a better setup Pokemon and finds itself less easily exploited than Lunatone.

Lunatone's only niche is to attempt to sweep using Rock Polish to outspeed most Pokemon in the tier but unfortunately, (its still outclassed by omastar in that role)Lunatone's typing hinders it greatly as it is weak to common typings such as Dark, Water, Ghost and Bug (the typing weaknesses are a given. say specific mons or remove)(actually just remove cuz u talk about offensive threats below)and is suspectible (susceptible)to priority like Aqua Jet and Sucker Punch so it is very hard to successfully sweep with this Pokemon. (this was a run-on sentence)Furthermore, Lunatone is quite slow before a Rock Polish and common offensive Pokemon in the tier such as Togedemaru, Lilligant and Kabutops are able to outspeed it and take it out with minimal difficulty(its also p easily walled)

If you're looking for an offensive Psychic-type, Mesprit is the ideal over Lunatone, since Mesprit has less weaknesses, it's faster and has solid bulk so it has an easier time being able to come in on different Pokemon and can deal much more damage than Lunatone, especially with its Choice Specs set.(remove this entire part following mes's better bulk, its just fluff)(also talk about omastar)

(with ease.) (mention how this also makes set up opportunities difficult for lunatone.) Lunatone finds itself lacking the damage to hit bulkier opposing Pokemon such as Audino and these Pokemon are able to whittle it down with Toxic. (while this is correct, i dont like the audino mention just b/c its only ever seen on stall. You should mention things like Eel or Eggy imo)
