Dugtrio-Alola

:ss/dugtrio-alola:

Dugtrio-Alola @ Life Orb
Ability: Tangling Hair
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Aerial Ace
- Stealth Rock

Being our first fast rocker is quite nice, and Virizion being the hot new Ground resist means it will be more than happy to come into Dugtrio-Alola and use it as an opportunity to get up an SD or fire off an attack. However, that's where Aerial Ace comes in. Life Orb-boosted Aerial Ace is a guaranteed OHKO against Virizion, and you don't have to give up STABs or Stealth Rock either.

252 Atk Life Orb Dugtrio-Alola Aerial Ace vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 374-442 (115.7 - 136.8%)

Silvally-Dark @ Dark Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Psychic Fangs
- Flame Charge

A nice lure to Virizion Wireless here. I would say most of the time, it's expecting a Psychic Fangs right off the bat and then Darkvally would get subsequently OHKO'd by a CC:

252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Close Combat vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Silvally-Dark: 416-491 (125.6 - 148.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

However, should Darkvally use Flame Charge on Viriz switching in, it can then outspeed and knock it out with Psychic Fangs on the next turn given that Virizion's physical bulk is subpar:

252 Atk Silvally-Dark Flame Charge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 116-138 (35.9 - 42.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Silvally-Dark Psychic Fangs vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 196-232 (60.6 - 71.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Ice Punch

Cool option on Rhydon over standard 4th slot moves (Swords Dance or Heat Crash) which can catch Virizion by surprise as it attempts to switch in on Stealth Rocks or Rhydon's STAB moves which it resists. Ice Punch still fulfills similar purposes to Heat Crash as it does about half to Vileplume while doing a lot more against Virizion.

252+ Atk Rhydon Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 236-278 (73 - 86%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Rhydon Heat Crash (40 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 126-150 (39 - 46.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock (for damage output comparison)

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 64 Atk / 192 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Rest
- Body Slam
- Self-Destruct

64 Atk Snorlax Self-Destruct vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 324-382 (100.3 - 118.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Virizion Close Combat vs. +1 252 HP / 4 Def Snorlax: 374-445 (71.3 - 84.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 64 Atk Snorlax Body Slam vs. -1 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 310-366 (95.9 - 113.3%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

64 EVs in attack to always OHKO Virizion, even without the Stealth Rock. The rest is pretty standard, so it's still a great special wall ! I was inspired by one of the many sets Snorlax use in ADV OU. It's a win-win in every situation :

- If Snorlax is low-life, it will immediatly explode and OHKO Virizion on the switch-in.
- If Snorlax is full-life, it has time to Curse, tank one Close Combat and then OHKO Virizion with a boosted Body Slam + Life Orb damage.
- If Snorlax is lucky enough because Virizion does some min damage, it is left with 30% - 35% and will have an opportunity to Rest and just annoy the opponent till the end of time.

Morpeko @ Life Orb
Ability: Hunger Switch
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Aura Wheel
- Psychic Fangs
- Seed Bomb / Protect
- Parting Shot
Not an easy mon to properly lure, because of Morpeko's typing, however, Virizion might try to switch into it or to revenge kill it, resisting its STAB, Aura Wheel, regardless of its current typing, and its most common coverage option in Seed Bomb, it will also get an Attack boost if hit by a Dark-type Aura Wheel, with this the best Morpeko can usually do vs Virizion is Parting Shot out, specially against Synthesis variants that can heal off the damage. Aura Wheel into Psychic Fangs is a KO, otherwise Morpeko will need some chip in order to KO Virizion, which shouldn't be too hard to get throughout the match, especially considering Life Orb. It could also theoretically get it done at +0 Spe on a predicted Swords Dance from Virizion, but that's a big risk that I wouldn't go for.
252 Atk Life Orb Morpeko Aura Wheel vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 123-146 (38 - 45.2%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Morpeko Psychic Fangs vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 255-302 (78.9 - 93.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO after 1 layer of Spikes
252 Atk Life Orb Morpeko Psychic Fangs vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Virizion: 252-302 (78.9% - 93.4%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
Btw, if Morpeko is Adamant, Psychic Fangs is way more likely to kill, doing 86%-102% (93% KO after a Spike, 50% after Rocks), but I wouldn't use Adamant and be slower than Cramo, Hitmonlee, Croak, Rotom, Rilla, and Silvallies.

coton's snorlax, self-destruct is some tech goddamn

gorex's rhydon is a very close second but lax just sounds silly and fun enough tbh :psysly:

The winner of this round is gorex with his Ice Punch Rhydon :rhydon:! Thank you all for participating, now it’s time to announce this weeks new threat.

Indeedee

Indeedee is an extremely potent special attacker and choice item user in the RU metagame right now. Being able to fit on a ton of teams and has amazing coverage that’s able to break a lot of the meta and make its switchins very scarce.
Indeedee @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam
- Mystical Fire
- Trick / Psychic

Raichu-Alola @ Life Orb
Ability: Surge Surfer
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Knock Off

0- Atk Life Orb Raichu-Alola Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Indeedee: 231-273 (88.5 - 104.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Indeedee Psychic vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Raichu-Alola in Psychic Terrain: 109-129 (41.7 - 49.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Indeedee Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Raichu-Alola in Psychic Terrain: 145-171 (55.5 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

You live any move from Scarf Indeedee and you outrun Specs. Overall, Knock Off is a pretty interesting move on Alolan Raichu as removing something like Leftovers from Snorlax, Steelix, and Eviolite from Rhydon is obviously great not only for Raichu-A but also its teammates. For example, Salazzle absolutely loves Leftover-less lax and Rhydon without Eviolite. Definitely a fun option with some unique utility. You could run Hasty or Naive with 16 attack EVs to guarantee the OHKO with knock without SR but cutting into Raichu-A's already mediocre bulk isn't ideal as you want Raichu to be able to take some weaker moves like Jellicent's Scald. Also, there's no real point in going for the OHKO as after knocking you're faster than Indeedee.

dark pulse rotom

:ss/rotom:
Rotom @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Shadow Ball
- Dark Pulse
- Defog

usually Indeedee can come in and threaten one of rotoms teammates or rotom itself, but with dark pulse it can straight up kill indeedee after stealth rock-chip because rotom has shadow ball in his arsenal which lures in indeedee since indeedee is part normal it does not have any effect on indeedee, but with dark pulse it is a good lure and can help to threaten indeedee severly.

calc: 252 SpA Choice Specs Rotom Dark Pulse vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Indeedee: 220-260 (84.2 - 99.6%) -- 75% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Jellicent @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Water Spout
- Shadow Ball
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump

Pulled one from the SM PU playbook here. Since most Jellicent used in this meta are defensive, this wallbreaking set could be put to good use and lure Mandeedee in since Jellicent normally carries Hex (which Indeedee is immune to), Will O (pointless), Recover (well duh), and Scald (which Indeedee can eat up). Anyway, seems like a good lure here and all Jelli needs to is click Water Spout and we have a dead Indeedee:

252+ SpA Choice Specs Jellicent Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Indeedee: 313-370 (119.9 - 141.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The winner of this round is GoldCat with his Knock Off Alolan Raichu! :raichu-alola: Thank you all for voting, now let’s get into this weeks threat!

Copperajah

Copperajah is a very versatile threat in the RU metagame. This Pokemon has an amazing pure Steel typing and access to an insanely strong Heavy Slam backed up by its monstrous attack stat and Heavy Metal.
Copperajah @ Assault Vest
Ability: Heavy Metal
EVs: 252 Atk / 72 SpD / 184 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Heat Crash
- Power Whip
- Superpower

superpower cramorant

:ss/Cramorant:
Cramorant @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Gulp Missile
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Liquidation
- Superpower
- Roost

cramorant is usually meant to be a special attacker which means it has trouble to break through this certain copperajah set, since copperajah spreads out a lot of damage and since cramorant is faster and has to eventually roost the damage it took off it will lose its flying type and copperajah can deal with this bird with a super-effective power whip and clearly ohkoes cramorant due to cramorants low defense of only 55 base.
but a physical version will catch it off guard with the superpower on this set attached. suprpower is a clear 2hko even after cramroant used it once and the attack drop will come into the calculation.

calcs:
252 Atk Cramorant Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 266-314 (69 - 81.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
-1 252 Atk Cramorant Superpower vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 178-210 (46.2 - 54.5%) -- 53.1% chance to 2HKO

Hasty Nature
- Volt Switch
- Psyshock
- Surf
- Focus Punch

0 Atk Life Orb Raichu-Alola Focus Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 333-393 (86.4 - 102%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Life Orb Raichu-Alola Psyshock vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 94-109 (24.4 - 28.3%) -- 97.6% chance to 4HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Raichu-Alola Volt Switch vs. 0 HP / 252 SpD Assault Vest Copperajah: 79-95 (20.5 - 24.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO

idk what u guys think but this is when i'd say "LURED & SMOKED" cuz this is actual (untested, mind you) heat that allows alolachu to beat lax and this, apparently

Silvally-Fairy @ Fairy Memory
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Reversal
- Endure

252+ Atk Copperajah Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Fairy: 446-528 (134.7 - 159.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Silvally-Fairy Reversal (200 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 476-562 (123.6 - 145.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Endure ensures that you'll survive for max power Reversal and in general, makes it a more reliable move. Reversal is also useful for getting the OHKO on Steelix after a Swords Dance. This set is also more effective at dealing with Steel-types than the mixed sets, as you're actually able to score OHKOes. Obviously, this set is completely walled by Vileplume so Xatu/Drampa blocking Strength Sap is appreciated. Overall, this is just a fun and somewhat reliable set for luring Steel-types.

Sneasel sprite from Black & White

Sneasel @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Low Kick
- Swords Dance / Ice Shard

People don't tend to bring that many Ice resists, and Fire-types such as Salazzle, Ninetales, and Charizard (which does not count as an ice resist) don't want to switch into Sneasel and lose their boots. Thus, a Copperajah user might have to send in Jah as an ice resist, or sack something and then plan to use Copperajah to take a hit and KO back. That does not go well, as it dies to Low Kick (or, 1/6th of the time, Low Kick + another attack):

252 Atk Life Orb Sneasel Low Kick (120 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Copperajah: 372-439 (96.6 - 114%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

(in reality, it's just generally a bad idea to switch Copperajah into a strong physical attacker like Sneasel; a CB Knock Off does 67-80%. however, due to the general lack of physical ice resists, a Copperajah user may have no other choice!)

Escavalier @ Occa Berry
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Atk / 84 Def / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Metal Burst

This is where it's at. Basically, the EVs ensure you live one Heat Crash after rocks, and then retaliate with Metal Burst for the OHKO.
(Description of Metal Burst: "If hit by an attack, returns 1.5x damage")

252+ Atk Copperajah Heat Crash (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 84 Def Occa Berry Escavalier: 254-300 (74 - 87.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
