Hitmonchan (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Ice Punch
- Mach Punch
- Rapid Spin / Throat Chop / Pursuit / Drain Punch

Gastrodon is usually a very safe switch in to AV Chan since Drain Punch does about 40 at most and you don't even have to worry about Ice Punch freeze hax thanks to Scald. However when equipped with a Choice Band and a stronger STAB move, Hitmonchan can easily 2hko Gastro. CB Chan can also do a number of neat things with the extra power like 2hko Palossand or potentially 2hko Spiritomb and Spdef Clef. The last slot on Hitmonchan is pretty flexible on this set with the last slot. Rapid Spin can still be used but can leave you vulnerable which makes some of the other options more appealing. Throat Chop can do a lot of damage to non-Colbur Mesprit or potentially 2hko Musharna. Pursuit can catch out low health threats not expecting it for some nice chip but its pretty situational. Drain Punch can be used if you ever want to recover a little bit of health but again very situational.

Offensive Darknium CroTomb
Spiritomb @ Darkinium Z
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Dark Pulse
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

A probably safe play having a CM Tomb agains your team, is toxifying it with your gastrodon. You Switch in in the first CM and think, Oh, let's put him some deffensive pressure with poison, because his max damage is 39%, and put him offensive, pressure next. With a +1, and 252 modest spiritomb is able to KO gastro with Darknium Z.

CALCS:
+1 0 SpA Spiritomb Dark Pulse vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 142-168 (33.4 - 39.5%) -- 17% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery (1 CM Standard CroTomb)

+1 252+ SpA Spiritomb Black Hole Eclipse (160 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 400-472 (94.1 - 111%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery (1 CM Darknium Offensive Tomb)
Gastrodon is never a Crotomb check, whether its defensive or offensive, so I'm gonna have to reject your submission. Sorry bud, but feel free to change your submission!

Shame all the good ones are gone but i have this

Golurk @ Grassium Z
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Ice Punch / Shadow Punch
- Earthquake
- Solar Beam

Golurk is a weird mon and not in a good way but if there is a sure thing it's that Gastrodon is a safe switch in since it tends to wall anything bar multiple Dynamicpunch confusion self hits. This set works against that since Solarbeam takes out even the Spdef invested variant (0 SpA Golurk Bloom Doom (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 56 SpD Gastrodon: 372-440 (87.3 - 103.2%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery) quite comfortably without any investment so it's a decent lure. It also works against Palossand 2HKOing the Colbur Variant after an Ice Punch

hi i am here with power again, fuck the wind.

Spiritomb @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 248 Atk / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Trick
- Sucker Punch
- Shadow Sneak
- Pursuit

don't remember if this was done last week so my b. doesn't just cripple gastro, but other passive, fat pokemon that phys tomb baits in like altaria, weezing, etc. gastro usually switches in on anything phys tomb throws out and either uses toxic or recover if need be, but they'll find doing so rather troublesome if they switch in on trick.

Glad that it turned out to be such a successful week. Lots of Z-Solar Beam but its fun to see which mons are actually able to make use of the tech.

Congratulations to Chrisloud1 for winning very convincingly with his Swords Dance Natural Gift Kabutops!

Week 19

Eelektross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain
- Knock Off

Happy Luring!

Palossand @ Groundium Z
Ability: Water Compaction
EVs: 96 HP / 252 SpA / 160 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Gravity
- Earth Power
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball

At first, I thought it was impossible to lure a mon without any weakness, good stats and a momentum move in Volt Switch, but Palossand beats it. The regular physical defensive set can't really hurt Eelektross at all, but this set on the other hand straight up ohkos with the combination of Gravity and Tectonic Rage. Also Eball is cool for mons like Gastrodon.

252+ SpA Palossand Tectonic Rage (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Eelektross: 420-494 (112.2 - 132%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Swanna @ Waterium Z
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Liquidation
- Brave Bird
- Defog
- Roost

One of the outright best counters to Swanna (Especially special variants), Eelektross takes negligible damage from anything it throws at it and Volt Switches out for the OHKO. However, Hydro Vortex from the physical side can easily KO Eelektross after prior damage (from a Liquidation, that is).

252 Atk Swanna Liquidation vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eelektross: 127-151 (33.9 - 40.3%)
252 Atk Swanna Hydro Vortex (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eelektross: 240-283 (64.1 - 75.6%)

Gastrodon-East @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 72 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Mirror Coat
- Recover
Eelektross is one of Gastrodon's most common switch in thanks to taking very little from anything Gastro can do to it. With just 72 spdef investment Gastrodon can 100% take Giga Drain after rocks and kill Eel back with Mirror Coat. Of course then you still lose your Gastro but the other lures are memes too so :fukyu:.

252+ SpA Eelektross Giga Drain vs. 248 HP / 72 SpD Gastrodon: 336-396 (79 - 93.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
