PU Luxray (mini)

[OVERVIEW]

Luxray faces some broad competition against offensive Electric-types like Eelektross and Manectric along with other physical wallbreakers due to their far superior speed, utility, and power. While it does have some good attributes like a solid Attack stat and abilities, Luxray’s flaws outweigh the positives, as it is very frail and sits at a poor Speed tier. It doesn’t help Luxray either that its primary attack, Wild Charge, massively cripples its longevity.

[SET]
name: All-Out Attacker
move 1: Wild Charge
move 2: Facade
move 3: Superpower
move 4: Volt Switch
item: Flame Orb
ability: Guts
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Luxray after a Guts boost can do a solid amount of damage even with a weaker primary attack like Wild Charge. However, Luxray is easily revenge killed, and Wild Charge and Flame Orb continuously rack up so much recoil damage that Luxray won’t be able to offensively pressure the opponent too much until it takes itself out. Luxray also ends up facing large competition against physical wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Kangaskhan, which are slow like Luxray but hit far harder, and Electric-types like Manectric who is faster and carries better coverage moves.

This is ready for a QC. My main issue with this analysis is that Luxray actually has a very small amount of good things on paper and in practice but then it just gets fucked over by its main STAB.

Luxray isn’t necessarily outclassed by anything (yeah it might not be outclassed as a physical electric wallbreaker but as an electric type, it is outclassed by Mane and Eelektross, which possess more speed and bulk respectively), it does have some good attributes like a solid Attack stat and great abilities. However, Luxray’s flaws outweigh the positives as it is very frail and sits at a poor speed tier. It doesn’t help Luxray either that its primary attack, Wild Charge, massively cripples its longevity.

Luxray after a Guts boost should definitely be taken accounted for as a threat as it is actually considerably strong and it deals massive damage to anything that doesn’t outspeed it (examples. What can Luxray actually beat?). However, Luxray is easily revenge killed (by??) and Wild Charge and Flame Orb continuously racks up so much recoil damage that Luxray won’t be able to offensively pressure the opponent too much until it takes itself out.

Luxray isn’t necessarily outclassed by anything (nah not really, it gets competition from other offensive electric-types with better speed and access to secondary stabs, hard to justify using over other physical wallbreakers too), it does have some good attributes like a solid Attack stat and great abilities. However, Luxray’s flaws outweigh the positives as it is very frail and sits at a poor speed tier. It doesn’t help Luxray either that its primary attack, Wild Charge, massively cripples its longevity. (something about eelektross having better coverage)

Luxray after a Guts boost should definitely be taken accounted for as a threat as it is actually considerably strong and it deals massive damage to anything that doesn’t outspeed it (I think you're overselling its strength a little bit. yah it has guts and a high base attack stat but its stab isn't particularly strong and you can't break through a lot of physically bulky shit even with coverage). However, Luxray is easily revenge killed and Wild Charge and Flame Orb continuously racks up so much recoil damage that Luxray won’t be able to offensively pressure the opponent too much until it takes itself out. (a brief sentence about its competition and how they're better options)

Luxray faces some broad competition against offensive Electric-types like Togedemaru, Eelektross, and Manectric along with other physical wallbreakers(expand on what makes them better), but it does have some good attributes like a solid Attack stat and great abilities.(great is kinda overselling it) However, Luxray’s flaws outweigh the positives as it is very frail and sits at a poor speed tier. It doesn’t help Luxray either that its primary attack, Wild Charge, massively cripples its longevity. These attributes make Luxray difficult to justify over Electric-types like Eelektross who boast far superior coverage.(you already talked about competition in the first sentence)
