Magearna @ Leftovers
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Heart Swap
- Fleur Cannon
- Volt Switch
- Heal Bell

A Steel / Fairy typing, good bulk, and access to great utility moves make Magearna one of the best answers to many top threats, most notably Xerneas and Yveltal. Heart Swap allows it to counter Geomancy Xerneas letting it uniquely and consistently handle almost every variant rather than just a few like other checks. It also has great utility in Volt Switch and Heal Bell, acting as a cleric and pivot and gaining momentum from what it checks. However, it struggles with residual damage, can't take many physical hits due to its middling bulk, and suffers from vulnerability against the omnipresent Primal Groudon and Necrozma Dusk-Mane, which easily switch into and either block Volt Switch or tank Fleur Cannon and gain momentum. Zygarde-C pairs well with Magearna, actively covering threats such as Primal Groudon, Swords Dance Arceus-Ground, and Ho-oh and enjoying cleric support to wake up from Rest early. Giratina-O and Arceus-Ground both check Primal Groudon and provide valuable Defog support to remove entry hazards that wear Magearna down.

Finally ready for QC, so sorry for endlessly johning this but irl hit me incredibly hard between school and family issues. I'll try to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Note that Facebook Spotlight should not read like dex analysis - this means you shouldn't specifically go through moves unless they are crucial part of the spotlight. Magearna's current moves have been common for a long time, so I would cut down
Heart Swap allows it to hard answer Geomancy Xerneas variants, as well as various other set-up sweepers such as Calm Mind Arceus-Fairy. Fleur Cannon allows it to inflict major damage to the ever-present Dark types in the meta, such as Yveltal and Arceus-Dark. Volt Switch & Heal Bell gives it utility, allowing it to act as a cleric & a pivot. Pain Split can be used over Heal Bell to give Magearna semi-reliable recovery and aiding it in taking goes down during longer 1v1s.
to a sentence or two talking about how Magearna differentiates itself with other Pokemon that check Xerneas and Yveltal by talking about Heart Swap and Heal Bell. Pain Split is not in the spotlight at all so ditch that.

Magearna, however, suffers from being entirely vulnerable against the omnipresent Primal Groudon, which can easily take a Fleur Cannon and block Volt Switch.
Not true. Note that more offensive Primal Groudon variants are flying out there, and especially with SD + SR set being the commonplace, Primal Groudon will try to avoid the chip as much as possible unless its like early game in the matchup where a Defog user on the other team has 0 chance against Pdon. Even less common defensive variants will hesitate to switch into Magearna once it ate Toxic or Stealth Rock is on the field - fleur + SR does about 30%, enough damage for it to be taken out by +2 Xerneas after another SR. Don't include this in the spotlight but just a general food for thought.

Team Options look decent, mention that Zyg-C and Gira-O are good proactive answers to Primal Groudon. Let's not talk about dusk mane here bc +2 SSS blows Zygarde before Power Construct - remember that the spotlight has to be as informative and as accurate as possible.

Zyg-C is also a very solid Ho-Oh answer, and Mega Salamence and Ho-Oh are good ground immune's. Mention Ferrothorn for Spikes and Toxapex for Toxic Spikes - they stack Pdon weakness but teams with Magearna generally have increased security against Pdon and Spikes / Toxic Spikes deters Ground-types from blocking Volt Switch.

1.
can consistently handle almost every variant of Xerneas rather than just some, unlike other checks
Reads weird

2.
which can easily switch into and block Volt Switch
Remember what I told you about this
If anything if you really wanna keep Pdon include groundceus too for the sake of better info

3.
synergy with Gear
Use Magearna. This goes through GP at the end of the day

4.
Giratina-O and Arceus-Ground both check Primal Groudon & other mons it struggles with like Necrozma Dusk-Mane
Neither of them are solid dusk checks. Gira-O hard switching into dusk is risky af and groundceus loses 1v1 if dm gets SD on switch

5.

A Steel(space) /(space) Fairy typing, good bulk,(AC) and access to great utility moves makes Magearna is one of the best answers to various many top threats, most notably Xerneas and Yveltal. Heart Swap allows it to hard answer counter Geomancy Xerneas variants, making it unique in that it can letting it uniquely and consistently handle almost every variant of Xerneas rather than just some variants a few like other checks. It also has great utility in Volt Switch & and Heal Bell, allowing it to acting as a cleric & a and pivot and gaining momentum off of from what it checks. Magearna, However, it struggles with residual damage, can't take many physical hits due to its middling bulk, and suffers from vulnerability being entirely vulnerable against the omnipresent Primal Groudon & and Necrozma Dusk-Mane, which can easily switch into and either block Volt Switch or stop tank Fleur Cannon and gain momentum. It also struggles with residual damage, and due to it's only middling bulk for Ubers, does not take many physical hits too well. Zygarde-Complete has great synergy pairs well with Gear - Magearna, actively covering threats it actively covers almost all threats Magearna fails against, such as Primal Groudon, Swords Dance Arceus-Ground,(AC) & and Ho-oh(RC) and appreciates enjoying cleric support to either wake up from Rest early. Giratina-O and Arceus-Ground both check Primal Groudon while providing and provide valuable Defog support to remove the entry hazards that wear Magearna down.
