[SET COMMENTS]
Magneton is a top tier wallbreaker and defining Pokemon in the metagame. Its phenomenal 120 base Special Attack, alongside its great typing, ability in Analytic, and powerful combination of STAB moves boosted by Choice Specs makes it incredibly hard to switch into. Volt switch makes it a strong and effective pivot as it generally forces switches. Flash Cannon its a great secondary STAB move that lets it hit Ground- and Grass types like Tangela, Piloswine, and Rhydon for massive damage, while also hitting Manectric on the switch for a 2HKO. Steel Beam allows Magneton to nuke Pokemon like Uxie and Silvally-Ground with the risk of losing half your HP. Alternatively, Toxic can put on a timer Pokemon like Stunfisk and Eldegoss, which would likely come in to sponge Magneton's attacks.

Magneton fits well on offensive teams that appreciate its wallbreaking capability. Silvally-Ground forms a great VoltTurn core with it, as it's able to abuse common Magneton walls like the Stunfisk forms, while Magneton can come in on Tangela, Altaria and Rotom-Fan. Other offensive threats like Centiskorch and Ninetales, can get rid of foes like Ferroseed and Galarian Stunfisk for Magneton, while in return Magneton can deal with Qwilfish and Altaria. Thwackey is a great teammate, as it allows Magneton to bypass Galarian Stunfisk thanks to Mimicry. In addition, Thwackey can revenge kill foes like Sawk and Silvally-Ground with Grassy Glide. Defoggers like Altaria and Cramorant, can help to get Spikes out of the field, while also blanket attacks from Pokemon like Centiskorch, Sawk and Silvally-Ground.

[SET]
name: Bulky Trapper
move 1: Substitute
move 2: Thunderbolt
move 3: Flash Cannon
move 4: Volt Switch / Toxic
item: Eviolite
ability: Magnet Pull
nature: Modest
evs: 160 HP / 252 SpA / 96 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
This Magneton set serves as a Bulky pivoting Pokemon that cannot be taken advantage of being locked in. The combination of both Magneton's STABs is hard to manage combined while its great typing plus Eviolite allows it to tank hits. Magnet Pull is the chosen ability, letting Magneton trap and remove troublesome Steel-type Pokemon like Klinklang, Perrserker and Ferroseed. Substitute takes advantage of Pokemon like Tangela, Rotom-S, Altaria, and the aforementioned Steel-types; it is also a good midground play to position itself against Ground-types like Silvally-Ground. Volt Switch lets Magneton pivot out as it forces switches. Alternatively, Toxic in combination with Substitute can chip and cripple walls like Eldegoss, Audino and Stunfisk. The given spread enables Magneton to outspeed Jolly Rhydon and Adamant Perrserker.

Trapper Magneton usually functions on balance and bulky offensive teams that take advantage of Magneton's ability to remove the listed Steel-types. Therefore, partners like Flapple, Stored Power Alcremie, and Sub-Toxic Articuno, appreciate Magneton trapping capabilites as they also have tools to overcome Magneton's counters such as the Stunfisk forms. Pokemon like Cinccino and Silvally, can bait Steel-type to come in and U-turn out for Magneton to come in. Ground-types like Piloswine, Rhydon, and Silvally-Ground can take advantage of Stunfisk forms while Magneton gets rid of Ferroseed for them. Setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Rotom-Frost, Calm Mind Uxie, and Alcremie can clean on late game when certain Steel-types are removed.

Other Options
=============
Tri-Attack serves as a nice mid-ground play on Choice Specs when the opponent has an Electric inmunity and Steel resist, doing a decent amount while fishing for a status condition. Teleport can act as a secondary pivot move helping on Stunfisk-Galar match-ups without having your Volt Switch blocked. Magnet Rise on Eviolite set is a useful tech to bait on Ground-types. Metal Sound can be used alongside Substitute, but it is usually a niche option over the ones mentioned. A Choice Scarf set can be used, but it lacks the wallbreaking power that Choice Specs offer or the versatility in the trapping set.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Stunfisk forms**: Both regular and Galarian Stunfisk wall Magneton's STABs and can OHKO it back with their respective Ground-type attacks.

**Ferroseed**: Even if Magneton is capable of trap Ferroseed and beat it. Choice Specs set will get blanket of both Magneton's STABs and Leech Seed it back. Although, Ferroseed will allow Magneton to pivot out on it.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Blanket walls like Eldegoss and Audino, can come in and sponge Magneton's moves and heal thanks to Regenerator or their respective healing moves.

**Faster Foes**: Offensive faster Pokemon with super-effective attacks like Sawk, Ninetales, Silvally-Ground, and Kangaskhan, can force Magneton out as they will easily KO it.

**Being locked in**: Magneton can be taken advantage of being locked with Choice Specs on certain moves after it gets a hit. Ground-types and Manectric can freely come after Magneton has used an electric move, while Pokemon like Centiskorch and Ninetales will come after a Flash Cannon.
