[OVERVIEW]

Mamoswine is a premier wallbreaker in UnderUsed thanks to its huge Attack stat and an excellent STAB combination, which offers nearly perfect coverage. It also has access to STAB Ice Shard, which can patch up its paltry Speed while picking off several top threats, such as Latias, Mega Altaria, and Mega Aerodactyl, when weakened. Moreover, Mamoswine can support its team with options such as Knock Off and Stealth Rock, increasing its overall utility. Unfortunately, despite hitting extremely hard, Mamoswine has a hard time actually coming into play due to its terrible defensive typing, which lacks useful resistances and gives it several common weaknesses, such as to Fighting and Water. Its poor defensive utility is further compounded by its unremarkable bulk and weakness to common priority moves like Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet, which compromises its ability to pressure slower threats in Scizor and Crawdaunt. Lastly, Mamoswine struggles from a below average Speed tier for an offensive Pokemon, which can leave it vulnerable to several of the tier's powerful faster threats, including Infernape, Cobalion, and Kyurem.

Moves
========

Ice Shard takes advantage of the tier's several faster Pokemon that are weak to Ice, letting Mamoswine revenge kill foes such as Crobat, Kommo-o, Hydreigon, and Celebi after some chip damage. Earthquake is Mamoswine's most powerful STAB attack, 2HKOing the majority of switch-ins while forcing out defensive threats like Klefki and Mega Aggron. Icicle Crash applies pressure to several defensive Pokemon that could tank an Earthquake and damage Mamoswine in return, including Amoonguss and Hippowdon. It also hits Levitate users and Flying-types like Hydreigon, Latias, and bulkier variants of Togekiss, which would traditionally be used as Ground-type checks. Knock Off 2HKOes common switch-ins to Mamoswine in Rotom-H and Bronzong in addition to burdening foes with the removal of their items. Stealth Rock is an entry hazard that can be set as Mamoswine forces switches, inflicting chip damage on foes as they come in. It can be useful to run on Mamoswine if no other member of its team has room for the move. Freeze-Dry is also an option in the fourth slot, luring in and 2HKOing bulky Water-types like Swampert and Alomomola. However, with adequate chip damage, both of these Pokemon can already be 2HKOed by Earthquake, while the need to run a Naughty or Naive nature further compromises Mamoswine's defensive capabilities. Stone Edge is an option that can OHKO Rotom-H and Moltres, which can both otherwise come in once and pressure Mamoswine with either powerful attacks or status. It often comes at the cost of utility or better coverage, however.

Set Details
========

Full investment in Attack with an Adamant nature maximizes Mamoswine's power, allowing it to more easily secure OHKOs on foes such as Primarina and Amoonguss and 2HKOs on the likes of Mega Aggron and Slowbro. Full investment in Speed makes it as fast as possible with a neutral nature, outrunning the majority of the metagame's defensive threats. A Jolly nature is also an option, allowing Mamoswine to outrun Timid Volcanion and Speed tie with Togekiss, Mega Altaria, and Chandelure at the cost of some power. If running Freeze-Dry, Mamoswine should use a Naughty or Naive nature instead so its Special Attack isn't lowered. Life Orb increases Mamoswine's overall damage output, notably allowing it to secure the 2HKO on Suicune with Earthquake. Thick Fat is the preferred ability, decreasing the damage Mamoswine takes from Fire- and Ice-type attacks that Electric-types like Mega Manectric and Raikou often use to power through other Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Mamoswine's best use is on offensive teams as an early-game wallbreaker that can pave way for teammates to clean up later on. Ice Shard should be utilized to threaten to revenge kill the tier's several faster Pokemon that are weak to it, such as Latias, Togekiss, and Haxorus. If the opposing team is weakened enough, Mamoswine can also try using it to clean up late-game. The decision of whether to use Icicle Crash or Earthquake to wallbreak can be tough at times, though against teams with Ground-immune Pokemon, which are often weak to Ice, Icicle Crash is often smarter to use early on. Earthquake is best to use once Ground-resistant and -immune foes are removed or weakened due to its better neutral coverage. Mamoswine forces several switches as it wallbreaks and as such should take advantage of said switches to fire off powerful STAB attacks, set Stealth Rock, or hit various switch-ins that tank its STAB attacks, like Rotom-H and Bronzong, with Stone Edge or Knock Off if need be. Because its typing doesn't provide it with many switch-in opportunities, it's best to bring Mamoswine in via pivot support or after a teammate has fainted. However, it can come into play in a few specific scenarios, such as against passive defensive Pokemon like Klefki, Hippowdon, and Blissey and against Electric-types like Mega Manectric and Raikou if it predicts carefully. If running Freeze-Dry, Mamoswine should attempt to use it on the opponent's predicted switch to a bulky Water-type foe like Alomomola or Mega Slowbro, as this way it can more easily break past its most common method of defensive counterplay. Lastly, Mamoswine should capitalize on its strong matchup against defensive teams by using Knock Off and Stealth Rock to chip foes early-game, then weakening them further later on.

Team Options
========

Due to its huge offensive presence and struggle to defensively contribute to teams, Mamoswine is most comfortably fitted on offensively inclined builds. It is appreciated by setup sweepers, like Terrakion, Mega Altaria, and Raikou, thanks to its ability to weaken opposing teams for them to more easily do their job late-game. Cleaners such as Mega Sharpedo and Choice Band Scizor also appreciate Mamoswine's support for this reason. Pokemon capable of providing pivot support, like Crobat, Mega Manectric, and Moltres, are capable of safely bringing Mamoswine into play. Mamoswine also appreciates teammates capable of supporting it with entry hazards, such as Cobalion, Kommo-o, and Nihilego, as chip damage allows it to more easily muscle past the likes of Alomomola and Mega Slowbro on its own. Stealth Rock support can also allow Mamoswine to more comfortably run Knock Off, Freeze-Dry, or Stone Edge. Klefki is a particularly helpful partner, as it can provide Spikes support for Mamoswine to take advantage of in addition to patching up its poor Speed with Thunder Wave and crippling bulky Water-types with Toxic. Adequate methods of checking faster foes, such as Choice Scarf Krookodile and Mega Aerodactyl, can help patch up Mamoswine's susceptibility to being revenge killed due to its poor Speed. Fighting-type checks like Latias, Slowbro, and Primarina can come in on the several Fighting-types that force Mamoswine out, such as Infernape, Cobalion, and Terrakion. Lastly, due to Mamoswine's susceptibility to being worn down, it enjoys the support of Pokemon capable of removing entry hazards, such as Latias, Starmie, and Hydreigon.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mamoswine can viably function as a suicide lead, running a set with Stealth Rock, Focus Sash, Oblivious to evade Taunt, and Ice Shard + Endeavor for picking off at least one foe before fainting. However, it faces competition from other suicide leads like Azelf and Terrakion and isn't nearly as useful a set as Life Orb. Focus Sash can also be run as an item on offensive sets to allow Mamoswine to reliably tank at least one hit while retaliating with powerful attacks, though it often comes at the cost of invaluable power. Toxic can be used in the fourth slot to cripple Mamoswine's defensive switch-ins but usually doesn't provide as useful of overall utility as Stealth Rock or Knock Off. Finally, Protect is an option for scouting Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch or attacks from other Choice-locked Pokemon like Infernape and Volcanion, though it also often struggles to provide better utility than either Knock Off or Stealth Rock.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Defensive Water-types**: Defensive Water-types like Alomomola, Slowbro and its Mega Evolution, and bulkier Suicune variants can often avoid the 2HKO from Earthquake while threatening Mamoswine with a super effective STAB Scald. All should be wary of Freeze-Dry, however.

**Fighting-types**: Though they can't switch in, the likes of Infernape, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Heracross are all faster than Mamoswine and can tank an Ice Shard, which allows them to KO Mamoswine with super effective STAB attacks. If running Shuca Berry, Cobalion can even set up on Mamoswine while tanking on Earthquake to become a fearsome threat to the rest of its team.

**Offensive Pressure**: Due to Mamoswine's low Speed and terrible defensive typing, faster Pokemon capable of hitting it hard can pose a large threat. Examples include Terrakion, Starmie, and Kyurem, though all should be wary of switching into Mamoswine directly. Rotom-H is particularly troublesome, as it is only hit hard by Knock Off and Stone Edge due to its typing and ability, and it can pick Mamoswine off with STAB Overheat.

**Super Effective Priority**: Mamoswine's typing leaves it weak to several forms of super effective priority that are run in UU, including Scizor's Bullet Punch, Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet, and Infernape's Mach Punch and Vacuum Wave. However, only offensive variants of the former can KO Mamoswine from full HP, meaning that both Infernape and Crawdaunt will require some chip damage to pick it off with priority moves.

**Residual Damage**: Mamoswine's middling bulk, poor defensive typing, and Life Orb recoil leave it open to being easily chipped down by forms of residual damage, which include entry hazards, U-turn pivoting from foes, and status ailments like poison.

Overview
* Unfortunately, Mamoswine's typing provides it with as many defensive drawbacks as offensive benefits, providing it with several common weaknesses and a lack of many resistances.
- Mention what some of these weaknesses are, particularly the main ones. You hint at it with the mentions of the faster foes that can beat it, but being more specific with some of UU's most relevant weaknesses is useful because it's one of the main drawbacks to Mamoswine.
- Mention its fairly unremarkable bulk with its lack of resistances too.

Moves
* Icicle Crash applies pressure to several defensive Pokemon that could otherwise tank an Earthquake or two, including Amoonguss, Hippowdon, and bulkier variants of Togekiss.
- Togekiss mention is nice, and you can use it to go on to say that Icicle Crash (and by extension Ice Shard but that's not needed here) has great coverage with Earthquake because it hits most Ground-resistant and -immune Pokemon. This great coverage is one of the draws to Mamoswine and should be illustrated.

Set Details
* Life Orb increases Mamoswine's overall damage output, notably allowing it to secure the 2HKO on Suicune with Earthquake.
- Mention the drawback (recoil) of Life Orb.
- Oblivious really isn't great and isn't mentioned anywhere else in this analysis, so just leave it as an OO mention with the suicide lead set.

Usage Tips
* Mamoswine can also attempt switching in on Mega Manectric thanks to its Electric-type immunity.
- This is more specifically to block Volt Switch and thus disrupt momentum. Mention that.
- Talk about how Life Orb (and additional chip damage like SR) can wear Mamoswine down and as such players should be wary of its HP when switching into the above as well as the passive Pokemon you mention it can come into because EQ / SToss isn't fun if it's weakened.
- Mention its good matchup against defensive teams and the best way to play around them (setting up SR / removing items with Knock Off early and forcing a ton of switches and punishing them).

Team Options
- Mamoswine is extremely prone to being revenge killed, so add a point about faster Pokemon that can deal with this and also patch up Mamoswine's mediocre Speed. Most of these work really well on offense so that can be mentioned too.
* Mamoswine also appreciates teammates capable of supporting it with entry hazards, such as Mega Aggron, Kommo-o, and Nihilego, as chip damage allows it to more easily muscle past the likes of Alomomola and Mega Slowbro on its own. Stealth Rock support can also allow Mamoswine to more comfortably run Knock Off or Freeze-Dry.
- Consider replacing Mega Aggron with an example like Cobalion; the first line of this section indicates that it fits best on offensive teams, and Mega Aggron generally does not share that.
- Tentacruel also isn't the most reliable pick on offense as a remover.

Other Options
- Mention Icicle Crash's ability to help beat Substitute users then follow it up with how most of them (Chandelure, Suicune) resist the move. This suggests how it could be a good option but also details how it's outclassed.
- Mention Focus Sash outside of the suicide lead set as an item choice but then explain how the loss of power from Life Orb isn't worth it.

Checks and Counters
defensive Suicune can often avoid the 2HKO from Earthquake
- In Set Details, you say Life Orb is used to ensure the 2HKO on Suicune with Earthquake. Having this here contradicts yourself, so fact check the calc and remove one of the examples as appropriate.
Due to Mamoswine's low Speed and terrible defensive typing, strong neutral attacks are often capable of overpowering it.
- Neutral attacks have no correlation with its defensive typing aside from making more hits neutral. Its typing is best used to explain super effective hits, and mentioning its mediocre defenses here would correlate to its inability to take neutral hits. These should be mentioned in this section because it's weak to a lot, and that's where justifying the typing would work.
- You can mention Vacuum Wave from Lucario and special Infernape as other super effective priority too.
- Remove the Cresselia section. Cresselia really isn't viable outside of Trick Room, and Trick Room is a terrible playstyle. Adding a section for one niche Pokemon isn't really necessary and doesn't reflect the current UU metagame, so it should be removed.

Overview

  • The last three bullet points focus on its bad defensive typing and poor bulk, but I think they fail to point out the actual problem with all of this and that's the fact that even though Mamoswine is a very strong breaker, it has a very hard time coming into play to dish out attacks, so I'd reorder them in a way that it makes this very clear. I think just starting out with "Despite hitting very hard, Mamoswine has a very hard time switching in due to its unremarkable bulk and poor defensive typing, meaning..." is fine. I'd also say that it's mostly restricted to offensive teams because of this.
  • I'd also make its speed tier a bullet point of its own and separate that part from its poor bulk so that it looks more concise. Something along the lines of: "Mamoswine's average base 80 Speed for an offensive Pokemon leaves it vulnerable to several faster threats, like Infernape, Cobalion, and Kyurem." - replaced poor since that's underselling it a little bit and also consider either specifically mentioning specs Kyurem because otherwise it doesn't actually threaten it or use another example like Starmie.
  • Make a mention somewhere about Mamoswine's one-dimensional nature.
moves

  • * Stealth Rock is an entry hazard that can be set as Mamoswine forces switches, inflicting chip damage on foes as they come in. - mention that it could be used in that slot if no other Pokemon on the team can afford to run it.
  • I'd cut the part about a naughty nature compromising Mamoswine's defensive capabilities unless you can think of any examples that prove that it actually has a significant effect on its bulk.
set details

  • Mention some of Adamant's perks, such as having a better chance to ohko Primarina and Amoonguss from full, the chance of 2hkoing regular Slowbro after rocks, and 2hkoing Aggron form full.
  • * A Jolly nature is also an option, allowing Mamoswine to speed tie with Togekiss, Mega Altaria, and Chandelure at the cost of some power. -mention that it also allows it to outspeed Volcanion.
  • I'd make the mention about Naughty here instead also. Just mention that it should be used whenever using freeze dry so that it 2hkos Slowbro (there's also the 120 spa ev spread if u wanna mention that to ohko Alomomola, Swampert etc but just Naughty is probably fine).
usage tips

  • I would mention on the Ice Shard sentence that Mamoswine could also attempt to clean late-game if the team's weakened enough.
  • * Due to Mamoswine's poor typing and longevity issues, it should be wary of attempting to switch in at all if already low on health. - I think this is just beating a dead horse since its stressing on an issue that was already talked about in the two sentences above so I'd just remove it.
  • I'm also not sure about making a whole point about Manectric, I don't think it's important enough to have a bullet point of its own. I'd just fit it in the previous sentence after passive mons, which makes it more simple and easy to understand especially as u start writing.
  • I'd make a point about how to play icicle crash vs eq - its overall up to the player's evaluation of the current situation but icicle crash should be used most of the time against a team with a ground-immunity, otherwise spamming eq is pretty safe since less mons resist it.
team options

  • I'd add a sentence about fighting resists or just pokemon that can sponge fighting-type attacks in general like Latias, Slowbro, Primarina so that stuff like Terrakion/Inferape don't just come in and start punching holes.
checks and counters

  • **Offensive Pressure**: Due to Mamoswine's low Speed and terrible defensive typing, super effective hits and even strong neutral attacks are often capable of overpowering it in one hit. Offensive forces like Moltres, Kyurem, and Gengar can all heavily threaten Mamoswine with powerful STAB attacks, despite not being able to switch in, while Pokemon like Terrakion and Infernape can hit it super effectively. Even Pokemon weak to Ice Shard, such as Hydreigon, Celebi, and Rotom-C, can live the attack from full while KOing Mamoswine with STAB moves. - this point feels very bland and vague honestly, since saying that it can be pressured by super effective hits can be applied to pretty much any Pokemon. I'd just make a point about faster threats and highlight how Pokemon like Starmie and nape can outspeed and ohko it, and perhaps even another one about residual damage since it can be worn down from stuff like life orb damage, hazards, and status.
  • **Super Effective Priority**: Mamoswine's typing leaves it weak to several forms of super effective priority that are run in UU, including Scizor's Bullet Punch, Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet, and Infernape's Mach Punch. However, only the former can KO Mamoswine from full, meaning both Infernape and Crawdaunt will require some chip damage to pick it off with priority moves. - mention offensive Scizor specifically as the only one out of those that can ohko from full, since any other variant fails to do this.

Ice Shard takes advantage of the tier's several faster Pokemon that are weak to Ice, revenge killing foes such as Crobat, Kommo-o, Hydreigon, and Celebi after some chip damage. Earthquake is Mamoswine's most powerful STAB attack, 2HKOing the majority of switch-ins, (AC) while forcing out defensive threats like Klefki and Mega Aggron. Icicle Crash applies pressure to several defensive Pokemon that could tank an Earthquake and damage Mamoswine in return, including such as Amoonguss and Hippowdon. It also hits Flying-types and Ground-immune Pokemon like Hydreigon, Latias, and bulkier variants of Togekiss (Small nitpick, but wouldn't any variant of Togekiss, by virtue of typing, be able to serve as a check to Ground-type moves?), which would traditionally be used as Ground-type checks. Knock Off 2HKOes common switch-ins to Mamoswine, (AC) including such as Rotom-H (Another super nitpicky thing, but my calc on Rotom-H says Knock Off is not a guaranteed OHKO from full, even on zero defensive investment variants.) and Bronzong, (AC) in addition to burdening (Small expression note here: it is a bit odd to say that losing something (the item) puts a burden on somebody/something. The point comes across clearly, though, so I don't think it necessarily requires changing.) foes with the removal of their items. Stealth Rock is an entry hazard that can be set can also be run in this slot as Mamoswine forces many switches, inflicting chip damage on foes as they come in allowing it to set them up with ease (Probably unnecessary to state what Stealth Rock does here, and I feel making this point is a bit more important.). It can also be useful to run on Mamoswine This is particularly useful if no other member of its team has room for the move. Freeze-Dry is also an option in the fourth slot, luring in and 2HKOing bulky Water-types like Swampert and Alomomola. However, with adequate chip damage, (AC) both of these Pokemon can already be 2HKOed by Earthquake, while the need to run a Naughty (or Naive?) nature further compromises Mamoswine's defensive capabilities. Stone Edge is also an option that can lure in and OHKO Rotom-H and Moltres, which can both otherwise both of which can otherwise (shuffled to make the syntax clearer.) come in once and pressure Mamoswine with either powerful attacks or status. It often comes at the cost of utility or better coverage, however.

A Jolly nature is also an option, allowing Mamoswine to outrun Volcanion and speed tie with Togekiss, Mega Altaria, and Chandelure at the cost of some power. Life Orb increases Mamoswine's overall damage output, notably allowing it to secure the 2HKO on Suicune with Earthquake (Another nitpick (sorry!); CroCune only has a small chance to be 2HKOed after SR, and I think this is worth noting, given it is your justification for the Orb (unless defensive-bias Suicune is not a thing at all in UU).). Thick Fat is the preferred ability, decreasing the damage Mamoswine takes from Fire- and Ice-types attacks that Electric-types like Mega Manectric and Raikou often use to power through other Ground-types.

Whether to use Icicle Crash or Earthquake to break with can be a tough decision at times, though against teams with Ground-immune Pokemon, Icicle Crash is often smarter to spam early on. Earthquake is best to used the better option once Ground-resistant and immune foes are removed or weakened, due to its better neutral coverage. Mamoswine forces several switches as it wallbreaks, and, (AC) as such, (AC) (Possibly better to omit "as such" altogether.) should take advantage of said switches to fire off powerful STAB attacks, set Stealth Rock, or hit various switch-ins that tank its STAB attacks, like Rotom-H and Bronzong, with Knock Off if need be. Because its typing doesn't provide it with many switch-in opportunities, it's best bringing Mamoswine in via pivot support or after a teammate has fainted. Mamoswine can viably function as a suicide lead, running a set with Stealth Rock, Focus Sash, Oblivious to evade Taunt (possibly worth it to omit "to evade Taunt" so that the flow is better.), and Ice Shard + Endeavor for picking off at least one foe before fainting. However, it faces competition from other suicide leads and isn't nearly as useful a set as Life Orb. Focus Sash can also be run as an item on offensive sets to allow Mamoswine to reliably tank at least one hit while retaliating with powerful attacks, though it often comes at the cost of invaluable power. Icicle Spear is an option over Icicle Crash that guarantees accuracy in addition to breaking past foes using a Focus Sash. However, its damage output is often much worse. Toxic can be used in the fourth slot to cripple Mamoswine's defensive switch-ins, but usually doesn't provide as useful of much overall utility as Stealth Rock or Knock Off. Finally, Protect is an option for scouting Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch, (AC) or as well as attacks from other Choiced Pokemon, (RC) like Infernape and Volcanion, though it also often struggles to provide better utility than either Knock Off or Stealth Rock. (I will admit from the outset that UU is not my tier, but is Choice Band not an option in UU?)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Though they can't switch in, the likes of Infernape, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Heracross are all faster than Mamoswine, which allows them to tank an Ice Shard and KO Mamoswine with super effective STAB attacks. If running Shuca Berry, Cobalion can even set up on Mamoswine while tanking on an Earthquake, (AC) to become thereby becoming a fearsome threat to the rest of its Mamoswine's (To avoid any ambiguity about which team.) team.

Rotom-H is particularly troublesome, as it is only hit hard by Knock Off due to its typing and ability, (AC) and it can pick Mamoswine off with STAB Overheat.

**Super Effective Priority**: Mamoswine's typing leaves it weak to several forms of super effective priority that are run in UU priority moves that hit it super effectively, including Scizor's Bullet Punch, Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet, and Infernape's Mach Punch. However, only offensive variants of the former can KO Mamoswine from full, meaning that both Infernape and Crawdaunt (And defensive variants of Scizor?) will require some chip damage to pick it off with priority moves.

**Residual Damage**: Mamoswine's middling bulk, poor typing, and the recoil it takes from Life Orb leave it open to being easily chipped down by forms of residual damage, which include entry hazards, U-turn pivoting from foes, and status ailments like poison.

Very nice analysis, and a fascinating read.

GP 1/2
[OVERVIEW]

Mamoswine is a premier wallbreaker in UnderUsed, (RC) thanks to a huge Attack stat and its an (parallel with "a huge") excellent STAB combination, which offers nearly perfect coverage. Unfortunately, despite hitting extremely hard, Mamoswine has a hard time actually coming into play due to a terrible defensive typing that lacks useful resistances and gives it several common weaknesses, such as to Fighting- and Water-types Fighting and Water. Its poor defensive utility is further compounded by its unremarkable bulk and weakness to common priority moves like Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet, which compromises its ability to pressure would-be slower threats in Scizor and Crawdaunt. Lastly, Mamoswine struggles from a below average Speed tier for an offensive Pokemon, which can leave it vulnerable to several of the tier's powerful faster threats, including Infernape, Cobalion, and Kyurem.

Moves
========

Ice Shard takes advantage of the tier's several faster Pokemon that are weak to Ice, revenge killing foes such as Crobat, Kommo-o, Hydreigon, and Celebi after some chip damage. It also hits Levitate users and Flying-types and Ground-immune Pokemon like Hydreigon, Latias, and bulkier variants of Togekiss, which would traditionally be used as Ground-type checks. It can also be useful to run on Mamoswine if no other member of its team has room for the move. Freeze-Dry is also an option in the fourth slot, luring in and 2HKOing bulky Water-types like Swampert and Alomomola. However, with adequate chip damage, (AC) both of these Pokemon can already be 2HKOed by Earthquake, while the need to run a Naughty nature further compromises Mamoswine's defensive capabilities. Stone Edge is also an option that can lure in and OHKO Rotom-H and Moltres, which can both otherwise come in once and pressure Mamoswine with either powerful attacks or status. (you already used rotom-h as something that knock, the first slash, deals with so it doesn't really need to be lured) It often comes at the cost of utility or better coverage, however.

Set Details
========

Full investment in Attack with an Adamant nature maximizes Mamoswine's power, allowing it to more easily secure OHKOs on foes such as Primarina and Amoonguss and 2HKOes 2HKOs on the likes of Mega Aggron and Slowbro. Full investment in Speed makes it as fast as possible with a neutral nature, outrunning the majority of the metagame's defensive threats. A Jolly nature is also an option, allowing Mamoswine to outrun Volcanion and Speed tie with Togekiss, Mega Altaria, and Chandelure at the cost of some power. Life Orb increases Mamoswine's overall damage output, notably allowing it to secure the 2HKO on Suicune with Earthquake. Thick Fat is the preferred ability, decreasing the damage Mamoswine takes from Fire- and Ice-types Ice-type attacks that Electric-types like Mega Manectric and Raikou often use to power through other Ground-types.

Usage Tips
========

Mamoswine's best use is on offensive teams as an early-game wallbreaker that can pave way for teammates to clean up later on. Ice Shard should be utilized to threaten to revenge kill the tier's several faster Pokemon that are weak to it, like Latias, Togekiss, and Haxorus. If the opposing team is weakened enough, Mamoswine can also try using it to clean up in the late-game. Whether to use Icicle Crash or Earthquake to break with can be a tough decision at times, though against teams with Ground-immune Pokemon, Icicle Crash is often smarter to spam early on. (maybe mention because most ground immune mons are weak to it) Earthquake is best to used use once Ground-resistant and -(AH)immune foes are removed or weakened, (RC) due to its better neutral coverage. Mamoswine forces several switches as it wallbreaks, (RC) and as such should take advantage of said switches to fire off powerful STAB attacks, set Stealth Rock, or hit various switch-ins that tank its STAB attacks, like Rotom-H and Bronzong, with Knock Off if need be. Because its typing doesn't provide it with many switch-in opportunities, it's best bringing Mamoswine in via pivot support or after a teammate has fainted. However, it can come into play in a few specific scenarios, such as against passive defensive Pokemon like Klefki, Hippowdon, and Blissey, and against Electric-types like Mega Manectric and Raikou if it predicts carefully. If running Freeze-Dry, Mamoswine should attempt to use it on the opponent's predicted switch to a bulky Water-type foe like Alomomola or Mega Slowbro, as this way it can more easily break past its most common method of defensive counterplay. Lastly, Mamoswine's should capitalize on its strong matchup against defensive teams by using Knock Off and Stealth Rock to chip foes in the early game early-game, then weakening them further later on.

Team Options
========

Stealth Rock support can also allow Mamoswine to more comfortably run Knock Off or Freeze-Dry. Klefki is a particularly helpful partner, as it can provide Spikes support for Mamoswine to take advantage of in addition to patching up its poor Speed with Thunder Wave and crippling bulky Water-types with Toxic. Adequate methods of Speed control checking faster foes, such as like Choice Scarf Krookodile and Mega Aerodactyl, can help patch up Mamoswine's susceptibility to being revenge killed due to its poor Speed. Fighting-type checks like Latias, Slowbro, and Primarina can come in on the several Fighting-type presences that force Mamoswine out, such as Infernape, Cobalion, and Terrakion. Lastly, due to Mamoswine's susceptibility to being worn down, it enjoys the support of Pokemon capable of removing entry hazards, such as Latias, Starmie, and Hydreigon.

Other Options
=============

Mamoswine can viably function as a suicide lead, running a set with Stealth Rock, Focus Sash, Oblivious to evade Taunt, and Ice Shard + Endeavor for picking off at least one foe before fainting. However, it faces competition from other suicide leads (such as?) and isn't nearly as useful a set as Life Orb. Toxic can be used in the fourth slot to cripple Mamoswines Mamoswine's defensive switch-ins, (RC) but usually doesn't provide as useful of overall utility as Stealth Rock or Knock Off. Finally, Protect is an option for scouting Choice Band Scizor's Bullet Punch or attacks from other Choice-locked Pokemon, (RC) like Infernape and Volcanion, though it also often struggles to provide better utility than either Knock Off or Stealth Rock.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Though they can't switch in, the likes of Infernape, Cobalion, Terrakion, and Heracross are all faster than Mamoswine, (RC) which allows them to and can tank an Ice Shard, (AC) which allows them to and KO Mamoswine with super effective STAB attacks.

Rotom-H is particularly troublesome, as it is only hit hard by Knock Off due to its typing and ability, (AC) and it can pick Mamoswine off with STAB Overheat.

**Super Effective Priority**: Mamoswine's typing leaves it weak to several forms of super effective priority that are run in UU, including Scizor's Bullet Punch, Crawdaunt's Aqua Jet, and Infernape's Mach Punch. However, only offensive variants of the former can KO Mamoswine from full HP, meaning that both Infernape and Crawdaunt will require some chip damage to pick it off with priority moves.

**Residual Damage**: Mamoswine's middling bulk, poor defensive typing, and the recoil it takes from Life Orb leave it open to being easily chipped down by forms of residual damage, which include entry hazards, U-turn pivoting from foes, and status ailments like poison.
