name: Defensive
move 1: Foul Play
move 2: Roost
move 3: Taunt
move 4: Iron Defense / Toxic / U-turn / Knock Off
item: Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
ability: Overcoat / Big Pecks
nature: Impish
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
[SET COMMENTS]
Mandibuzz functions as a decent defensive check to Gyarados, Dragapult, Excadrill, and in some cases Mimikyu, whilst frustrating slower pPokemon with Taunt. Foul Play dents physical attackers and is Mandibuzz's primary way of preventing setup. Roost is there for longevity whilst Taunt can hamper pokemon such as Corviknight, Ferrothorn, Aegislash, Toxapex, and Galarian Corsola. The last move can be dependent on what you need for the team; Iron Defense allows Mandibuzz to set up alongside sweepers such as Gyarados whilst Brave Bird does respectable damage, Toxic racks up passive damage, U-turn gets Mandibuzz out of unfavourable matchups, and Knock Off is good for getting rid of items from Galarian Corsola as well as removing Choice Scarf. When it comes to ability, the standard is Overcoat, but Big Pecks can be situationally useful in preventing Mandibuzz from getting Defense drops from switching into Max Phantasm.
Mandibuzz likes to have bulky Pokemon that can take Ice-, Electric-, and Rock-type attacks from Galarian Darmanitan, the Rotom formes, and Tyranitar. Snorlax is a pretty decent option at tanking up the hits from these Pokemon, as is Conkeldurr. Mandibuzz also likes having other bulky Pokemon around to support it such as Toxapex, Ferrothorn, and Galarian Corsola to create very tanky cores.
