[OVERVIEW]

Mantine is a fantastic wall in the current metagame as its Water-type immunity is amazing for switching into the many Water-type threats in the tier, such as Keldeo, Barraskewda, and Primarina. It also has access to fantastic utility moves such as Defog and Haze, which, in tandem with its stellar bulk, make sure it's not useless against set-up sweepers like Reuniclus, Meinshao, and Polteageist. Its type combination gives it a lot of common weaknesses, which makes it struggle against many offensive staples of the tier such as Thundurus, Lycanroc-D, and Nihilego. It is however vulnerable to getting statused from the likes of Aegislash, Galarian Slowbro, and Amoonguss. It's incredibly reliant on its Heavy-Duty Boots, as such the threat of Knock Off removing its item discourages it from switching into the likes of Mienshao, Azumarill, and Crawdaunt. It faces a lot of competition from other bulky Water-types such as Primarina, Tentacruel, and Rotom-W, which tend to be preferred as they are less passive.

Scald makes Mantine less passive, as it is able to threaten the likes of Amoonguss, Buzzwole, and Aegislash with a burn. While also letting it function as a better hazard remover against the likes of Krookodile, Rhyperior, and Kommo-o. Its access to good utility in Toxic lets it be annoying against opposing bulky Pokemon such as Rotom-W, Tangrowth, Seismitoad, and Salamence. Defog lets it keep hazards off the field against the likes of non-Thunder Jirachi, Kommo-o, and Chansey. However, Mantine can also run Haze which lets it stop set up sweepers such as Gyarados and Azumarill. The given ev spread allows Mantine to outspeed Adamant Azumarill, so it can Haze away a Belly Drum boost before getting hit, as well as running max defense to better handle Keldeo's Secret Sword and other physical attackers such as Entei and Buzzwole. Water Absorb lets Mantine pivot in on Water-moves from the likes of Primarina, Keldeo, and Barraskewda.

Mantine primarily fits on balance and bulky offense teams that appreciate its defensive utility, and ability to check Water-types. While in return being able to handle its many weaknesses. Electric-type resists and immunities such as Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Rhyperior, or Krookodile make for good teammates as they can handle the Electric-type moves that force Mantine out, while in return Mantine is able to check Fire-types for the former and handling Water-types for the latter, such as Entei, Volcanion, and Keldeo. Physically bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Buzzwole, or Umbreon make for good teammates with Mantine, as they can check physical attackers such as Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, or Krookodile. They're also able to switch into Knock Offs directed at Mantine. Clerics such as Sylveon and Diancie are able to cure Mantine of status conditions, as well as help it check the likes of Salamence and Kommo-o, so Mantine doesn't get overwhelmed as easily. Aegislash is a threat against Mantine, as its able to wear it down with Toxic, Pokemon such as Umbreon, Galarian Moltres, and Zarude that are able to switch into Aegislash make stellar teammates alongside Mantine

=============

An offensive set with Swift Swim can be ran on rain to check Keldeo while having an offensive presence, however, it struggling to break the likes of Rotom-W and Chansey make it hard to justify over other sweepers like Barraskewda and Kingdra. Flying-type attacks in either Hurricane or Air Slash seem appealing at first, being able to threaten bulky Grass-types such as Zarude, Tangrowth, and Amoonguss. However, it's hard to fit over Mantine's other options.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Electric-types and Electric-type coverage.**: Electric-types such as Thundurus, Raikou, Rotom-W, and Rotom-H, threaten to OHKO Mantine with their STAB moves, and as such force it out. Electric-type coverage on the likes of Nidoking and Jirachi also force out Mantine.

**Knock Off**: Due to Mantine reliance on its Heavy-Duty Boots, Knock Off from Tangrowth, Azumarill, or Crawdaunt, make it take damage any time it enters the field with hazards up, which puts Mantine under a lot of pressure as well as making it hard for it to Defog them away.

**Toxic**: Toxic from the likes of Chansey, Aegislash, or Gastrodon will continuously chip down Mantine over the course of games, and make it bad at fulfilling its defensive roles, which makes it easily broken by wallbreakers like Mienshao, Entei, or Keldeo, despite it resisting them

**Physical wallbreakers**: Physical attackers such as Zygarde-10%, Conkeldurr, and Zarude are able to easily power through Mantine due to its lackluster Defense stat, Zarude deserves a special mention as it completely walls Mantine, since Jungle Healing allows it to shrug off Scald Burns.

-Mantine manly functions as a defensive wall on bulkier teams, being able to check many Water-types in the tier, such as Keldeo, Primarina, Barraskewda, and Kingdra. you already say something like this
-add a line on how scald limits its passivity and lets it threaten Amoonguss and Aegislash with a burn

-Its access to good utility in Toxic lets it be annoying against opposing bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Buzzwole, or Salamence.
-Defog lets it remove hazards from the field, which is helpful for it and its teammates. However, Mantine can also run Haze which lets it stop set up sweepers such as Gyarados, Azumaril, Reuniclus, or Suicune. too many examples, these two aren't relevant, cut them
-The given ev spread allows Mantine to outspeed an adamant Azumaril, so it can Haze away a Belly Drum boost before getting hit, as well as running max defense to better handle Keldeo's Secret Sword and other physical attackers such as Entei or Zarude.
-add a line on how water absorb lets it pivot into Water-type attacks from Keldeo and Primarina, allowing it to regain its health without needing to use Roost

-Mantine primarily fits on balance team that appreciate its defensive utility and can handle more defensive teams with great longevity that can support it and its many weaknesses, Electric-type resists and immunities such as Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Rhyperior, or Krookodile make for good teammates as they can handle the Electric-type moves that force Mantine out, while in return Mantine is able to check Fire-types for the former and handling Water-types for the latter. give specific examples of water and fire-types
-Physically bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Buzzwole, or Umbreon make for good teammates with Mantine, as they can check physical attackers such as Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, or Krookodile, which Mantine cant handle. add how they can act as Knock Off absorbers for it too. it also functions as an answer to Fire- and Fighting types for these Pokemon, which make a solid defensive backbone.
-talk about clerics like sylveon and diancie that can relive mantine of status. Add how they can be secondary checks to Salamence, keeping Mantine from being overwhelmed
-talk about checks to Aegislash who can easily cripple Mantine and wear it down with a Kings Shield + Toxic cycle

Mantine has no other viable options
-talk about how a more offensive set with swift swim can be run on rain to act as a sweeper and check Keldeo, but it struggling to beat rotom-w and chansey makes it harder to justify compared to Keldeo.

**Electric-types and Electric-type Coverage**: Electric-types such as Thundurus, Raikou, Rotom-W, and Rotom-H, threaten to OHKO Mantine with their STAB moves, and as such force it out. While they do not appreciate switching into a Scald or Toxic, if they are able to get in safely they pose an enormous threat to it. (fluff) talk about electric type coverage on Pokemon like Nidoking and Jirachi that can also severely dent Mantine

**Status Toxic**: Toxic from the likes of Chansey, Aegislash, or Gastrodon will continuously chip down Mantine over the course of games, and make it bad at fulfilling its defensive roles, which makes it easily broken by wallbreakers like Mienshao, Entei, or Keldeo, despite it resisting them.

talk about strong physical wallbreakers who can power through mantine, one of them should be Zarude since it walls Mantine

-its Its type combination gives it a lot of common weaknesses, which makes it tend to struggle against many offensive staples of the tier such as Thundurus, Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Rotom-H. (When I read 'tend to', I'd think it has a habit of doing something but not all the time, Mantine just struggles against these mons. Rotom-H has also been struggling lately so I wouldn't call it a staple)
-It is however vulnerable getting statused from the likes of Aegislash, Slowbro-G Galarian Slowbro, and Amoonguss, which makes tends to make it easier to handle. (fluff)
-It faces a lot of competition from other bulky Water-types such as Primarina, Tentacruel, and Rotom-W, which tend to be preferred as they are harder to break (this is not entirely true because a common complaint with Tentacruel is that it gets overwhelmed trying to check the mons its supposed to and rotom-w doesn't have the most reliable recovery with pain split as opposed to mantine's recovery in roost) and have better utility options, as well as being less passive.

-Scald makes Mantine less passive, as it is able to threaten the likes of Amoonguss, Zarude and Aegislash with a burn. (Zarude can heal off burns with Jungle Healing. You should also point that this helps mantine act as a better hazard remover against setters like Krookodile)
-Its access to good utility in Toxic lets it be annoying against opposing bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Buzzwole, (Buzzwole is not by any means a Mantine switch-in, and even then you're better off trying to scald burn it) or and Salamence.
-Defog lets it remove hazards from the field, which is helpful for it and its teammates (such as?). However, Mantine can also run Haze which lets it stop set up sweepers such as Gyarados and Azumarill. (you misspell this more than once, but im only gonna highlight this here for you to do the rest)
-The given ev spread allows Mantine to outspeed an adamant Adamant Azumaril, so it can Haze away a Belly Drum boost before getting hit (readers can gather that anyways so this is unnecessary), as well as running max defense to better handle Keldeo's Secret Sword and other physical attackers such as Entei or Zarude.
-Water Absorb lets Mantine pivot in on Water-moves from the likes of Primarina, Keldeo, and Barraskewda, allowing it to regain health without having to waste a turn Roosting. (this is fluff and can be removed, also remove the double spacing)

- point about what teams mantine fits on
- electric resists and immunities

-Physically bulky Pokemon such as Tangrowth, Buzzwole, or Umbreon make for good teammates with Mantine, as they can check physical attackers such as Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, or Krookodile, which Mantine cant handle, (fluff). tThey're also able to switch into Knock Offs directed at Mantine.

Water Absorb lets Mantine pivot in on Water-moves from the likes of Primarina, and Keldeo, and Barraskewda.

Mantine primarily fits on balance and bulky offense teams that appreciate its defensive utility, and ability to check Water-types. While in return being able to handle its many weaknesses. Electric-type resists and immunities such as Tangrowth, Amoonguss, Rhyperior Excadrill (While obviously not wrong, Rhyperior's usage has fallen off a bit and Excadrill is S Rank on the VR, or Krookodile make for good teammates as they can handle the Electric-type moves that force Mantine out, while in return Mantine is able to check Fire-types for the former and handling Water-types for the latter, such as Entei, Volcanion, and Keldeo.

Other Options
=============

===================

**Electric-types and Electric-type coverage.**: Electric-types such as Thundurus-T, Raikou, Rotom-W, and Rotom-H, threaten to OHKO Mantine with their STAB moves, and as such force it out.

**Physical wallbreakers**: Physical attackers such as Zygarde-10%, Conkeldurr, and Zarude are able to easily power through Mantine due to its lacklustere Defense stat,. Zarude deserves a special mention as it completely walls Mantine, since Jungle Healing allows it to shrug off Scald Burns.
