- Masquerain is a solid Sticky Web setter in Ubers with decent utility.
- Tailwind allows Masquerain's teammates to outspeed Choice Scarf users like Koraidon and Miraidon, Booster Energy Flutter Mane, and Quark Drive-boosted Iron Bundle with Heavy-Duty Boots for a few turns, as these foes are not slowed down enough by Sticky Web.
- Whirlwind phazes sweepers that may try to set up on Masquerain, especially Swords Dance + Flame Charge Koraidon, Calm Mind Miraidon, and Substitute + Bulk Up Great Tusk.
- If opponents exploit Masquerain's passive nature by spamming switches to stall out Tailwind turns, U-turn lets it preserve momentum. Alternatively, Stun Spore cripples lead Pokemon like Iron Bundle, Chien-Pao, and Koraidon that try to stop Masquerain from setting up Sticky Web.
- Tera Ghost can block Rapid Spin from Iron Treads and Great Tusk in a pinch.
- It is essential to pair Masquerain with Pokemon that block entry hazard removal, such as Gholdengo, Annhilape, and Taunt users like Flutter Mane and Iron Bundle.
- Masquerain fits only on hyper offense teams: having multiple strong teammates such as Koraidon, Miraidon, Chien-Pao, Great Tusk, and Iron Bundle is necessary to capitalize on Sticky Web.
