Master Mewtwo Moved Many Mountains Meticulously (Uber RMT)

Alrighty, so I was just cruisin around the strategy Pokedex, and I decided to check out the R/B section. Well, once I got there I figured I might as well check out how terribly "broken" the RBY Mewtwo was. And there's only one way to describe that monster's ferocity:

So I was inspired to make a Mewtwo team shine in D/P, and so I made one that focuses around Calm Mind Mewtwo. I just grabbed Pokemon that are good at countering Mewtwo's counters, and I was pleasantly surprised to be looking at a rather solid uber team. So without further adieu, lets take a lookie at the teamy!

Free Willy@Choice Scarf
Timid, 6 HP/252 SpA/252 Spd
~Water Spout
~Hydro Pump
~Thunder
~Ice Beam
Everyone loves Scarf Kyogre. This guy makes a kewl lead, setting up Rain for my many Thunder Pokemon, and dishing quick hard damage. Hydro Pump because I don't think I'll be able to win on pure skill. :P This guy is here mainly to counter Ho-oh, who can wall Mewtwo with that crazy 156 base Special Defense, and then hit hard on the physical side with either Sacred Fire or Punishment.

Mr. Tesla@Leftovers
Modest, 252 SpA/172 HP/44 Spd/40 SpD
~Thunder
~HP Ice
~Rest
~Sleep Talk
So I needed some way to get rid of those pesky Metagross and Scizor, who otherwise wall poor Mewtwo since he lacks Flamethrower. Well, what better way than Magnezone? I really really REALLY wanted to pack HP Fire, but with the rain, and since this is my only steel (and therefore only Rayquaza Outrage counter), HP Ice had to stay. Oh well, Thunder won't exactly be nice. The given EV's outspeed Speed-less Metagross by a point. I think those extra SpD EV's will be more useful in ubers than outspeeding Skarmory.

NOTE: I'm not totally sure if this will work against Metagross. I hear most uber Metagross drop Earthquake and Speed. If this is true, this moveset will work just fine. If not, I need one of those Ground-resist berries.

SirSandman@Choice Band
Adamant, 252 HP/252 Atk/6 SpD
~Crunch
~Stone Edge
~Earthquake
~Pursuit
The pink blob will stall Mewtwo for quite a while, all day if it has Calm Mind/Psych Up to keep up with his boosts, even with Aura Sphere. Soooo, why not use good ol' T-Tar to Pursuit her to death? I was considering Ice Fang over Earthquake, but it's so weak that Crunch/Stone Edge is superior in every case but Rayquaza/Groudon, who I have no business staying in against anyway. Furthermore, it would be good to have at least one ground move. My team doesn't particularily like the sandstream, but oh well. He's still the best (trapping) Blissey counter, hands down. On the flip side, most enemy teams won't like his sand either. 8)

Nurse Doom@Leftovers
Bold, 252 Def/252 SpD/6 HP, Serene Grace
~Psych Up
~Thunder
~Ice Beam
~Softboiled
Again, Serene Grace and Thunder are there because I need to hax my way to victory. :p What's left to say about the best special wall in the game? She's a Blue Shell from Mario Kart; we all hate her with a passion, but we use her every chance we get. This one has Psych Up to instantly catch up to any Kyogres that decided to Calm Mind 3 times or something. Speaking of which, enemy Kyogre are the main reason Blissey is here, as they counter Mewtwo pretty hard with all that Special Defense and Thunder Paralyzation.

249.png

Luigia@Leftovers
Bold, 252 HP/144 Def/114 SpA (Old EV spread was 252 HP/204 Spd/52 Def)
~Reflect
~Roost
~Whirlwind
~Ice Beam
Behold the great wall! This is a pain to get by with anything that doesn't have a supereffective move. Reflect makes physcial moves hurt like beach balls, and makes it easier for Mewtwo to switch in. Roost takes away that awful Ice/Electric/Rock weakness, at least when he's faster than the attacker. This phazes, physically walls, flys (ground immunity was needed), and adds a desperately-needed 4x resist to Fighting. EV spread changed according to Palkia429's advice.

AND NOW, THE STAR OF THE SHOW...

Yuri@Expert Belt
Timid, 216 Spd/44 HP/252 SpA
~Calm Mind
~Aura Sphere
~Shadow Ball
~Recover
Calm Mind isn't exactly the pwn-everything move Amnesia was in RBY, but this'll have to do. Basically I look for an opening, setup, and sweep. I try to wait until I've weakened the enemy as much as possible, namely Mewtwo's counters. If it's looking bad, Mewtwo just Recovers. This EV spread outspeeds all Darkrai but Choice Scarf variants. The reasons I have Shadow Ball over Aura Sphere:
1) I really really REALLY hate Wobbuffet
2) 2/3'ds of the team already have an Ice attack
3) No one else has a Ghost attack
4) Ghost + Fighting = no resistances! :D
5) I STILL hate Wobbuffet

So let's take a look at the uber team checklist:
Special wall? (Blissey)
Physical wall? (Lugia, Magnezone)
Special Sweeper? (Mewtwo, Kyogre)
Physical Sweeper? (Tyranitar)
Resistance/Immunity to all types? (yes)
Phazer? (Lugia)
Rapid Spinner? (No, but the only viable spinner in ubers is Forretress, which quite frankly I have no room for. Besides, ubers is so fast that rarely will spikes be setup.)
Sleep absorber? (Magnezone)
Spiker? (Nope, don't really have room or time though)
Weather changer? (Kyogre, Tyranitar)

So I know it's pretty bog standard, but I'm not skilled enough to use much else. At least not right now. =/

Why don't I use other trappers?
As you can see, the team was built to counter Mewtwo's counters, and I figured that's easiest if I trap the counters. So why didn't I use Dugtrio, Wobbuffet, or other Pursuiters? The reasons are simple, really: 1)Dugtrio cannot effectively counter anything safely. He only revenge kills. 2)I hate Wobbuffet, he can't take real hits in ubers, I have enough Psychics as is, and he can't fill another role like wall or sweeper. 3)Tyranitar is the most powerful user of Pursuit (except Deoxys-A, but he takes hits like Magikarp), and he has crazy good Special Defense to absorb Blissey's BoltBeam.
End Trapper Tangent

I would post a threat list, but I'm just too lazy right now. :P Mabye I'll get it up later though if you guys really want one. Anyway, what do you guys think? If there's anything that I could do to improve the team, just shout it out! HOWEVER I won't replace Mewtwo, and he must be the Calm Mind/Recover variety.

A couple of things concern me though. The first is having two weather Pokemon. I think it'll be ok for a couple reasons. One, rain will highly benefit my team; two, sandstorm will probably hurt the enemy just as much as me (since most thingys run Thunder over Thunderbolt); three, having two weather Pokemon makes me twice as able to stop a weather team. But even so, it still seems pretty shaky, so lemme know if it phails.

The second concern is my glaring fighting weakness. I hear there aren't too many fighting moves in ubers thanks to the abundance of Psychics, but I don't know. I know I have Mewtwo and Lugia (4x resist! :) ), but is that enough?

Finally, I have no Dragon moves to handle Palkia. Is that ok? I don't even see anywhere to put a Dragon move.

With the Lugia spread, there is a 90-95% chance that it is going to get OHKOed by Groudon's stone edge with stealth rock up. Try 208 HP, 164 Def, 134 Sp. Atk. Or, you could try 252 HP, 144 Def, 114 Sp. atk. Many base 90s are not that fast these days and usually run at 32 EV speed maximum with no speed+ nature. I rather use the other set, the 252/144/114 so that you can survive a choice specs Dragon Pulse from Dialga at 52-55% with no critical hit. The special atk EVs allow a greater chance of OHKOing Rayquaza with Ice beam.

Thanks for taking the time to read everything (or at least the lugia bit)! I understand why to take away the speed, but do I really need that much SpA to get a OHKO on Rayquaza? And is the OHKO even that important compared to, say, more Def EV's?

Sure. Um...Good team overall, I like the T-tar and Magnazone in the mix. Just watch out for Palkias without Choice items is all I can say. Those Sp. Atk EVs on Lugia will guarantee a OHKO rather than 80% of the time.
