[OVERVIEW]

Mega Diancie is one of OverUsed's most dangerous Mega Evolutions courtesy of its unique typing, efficient coverage, and critical Speed tier. With its high offensive stats and powerful STAB moves, Mega Diancie can threaten both physical and special walls effectively. Additional coverage in the form of Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire lets it handle many of the common Pokemon that can stomach its STAB attacks. Defensively, Diancie's typing grants it resistances to Fire, Flying, and Dark as well as an immunity to Dragon, letting it check non-Earthquake Mega Charizard X and Dragonite and take crucial attacks such as Talonflame and Volcarona's boosted STAB moves, Mega Pinsir's Quick Attack, and Bisharp's Sucker Punch. Mega Diancie's Speed is one of its most important traits, letting it get the jump on threatening Pokemon that hover on and around the crowded base 100 Speed tier, such as Garchomp, Manaphy, Keldeo, and unboosted Volcarona, as well as Speed tie with Latios and Latias. Magic Bounce allows Mega Diancie to deny entry hazards with proper prediction and shield itself from status moves such as Heatran's Toxic and Taunt, Clefable's Thunder Wave, and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp. However, Mega Diancie is burdened with mediocre bulk, and its typing gives it weaknesses to common Water-, Steel-, Grass-, and Ground-type moves, making revenge killers such as Serperior, Weavile, Mega Lopunny, Mega Scizor, and Mega Metagross adept at picking it off. Additionally, Mega Diancie's lack of reliable recovery means it struggles to take strong repeated hits from Pokemon it wants to check, particularly Tornadus-T. Diancie's low Speed before Mega Evolving is also a concern, forcing it to run Protect and forfeit valuable coverage or utility options in order to render its Speed usable the next turn.

Moves
========

Protect lets Diancie Mega Evolve safely and circumvent its low Speed before Mega Evolution. Protect also serves a number of other purposes, helping Diancie effectively scout Choice item users such as Azumarill, Landorus-T, and Weavile, discerning whether Mega Medicham carries Bullet Punch, and forcing mind games with Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick. Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest and most reliable STAB move, hitting most neutral targets very hard. Diamond Storm helps Mega Diancie act as a mixed attacker, dishing out respectable damage to specially bulky Pokemon such as Chansey and Slowking while destroying key Fire- and Flying-types such as Tornadus-T, Volcarona, and Charizard. The Defense boost it often provides is also notable, potentially coming into play against revenge killers such as Crawdaunt and Weavile. Earth Power is Mega Diancie's best coverage option to threaten important Steel-types, most importantly securing the 2HKO on any variant of Excadrill and Mega Metagross while obliterating Heatran, Magnezone, and Bisharp. Alternatively, Hidden Power Fire can 2HKO Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor. However, using the latter lowers Mega Diancie's Speed IV, forfeiting the Speed tie against threats such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and the odd Gengar. Stealth Rock can be used in place of Diamond Storm or a coverage option if the team lacks another setter, as Mega Diancie is an effective user of the move due to the number of switches it forces. It is especially noteworthy for being able to keep Stealth Rock up versus stall thanks to its strong matchup against Zapdos, the most common form of entry hazard control on the archetype.

Set Details
========

A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, letting Mega Diancie better check Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Charizard X while always surviving Gliscor's unboosted Earthquake at full HP and Bisharp's +2 Sucker Punch after Stealth Rock. It is also worth noting that even with a Naive nature, Mega Diancie can survive two uninvested Moonblasts from Clefable as well as take a +1 Giga Drain from Volcarona before Mega Evolving. However, if Stealth Rock is chosen over Diamond Storm, Diancie should instead run a Timid nature to preserve its bulk.

Usage Tips
========

In many matchups, players should lead off with Diancie and Mega Evolve safely with Protect to reap the benefits of Mega Diancie's Speed and Magic Bounce. However, choosing to abstain from leading with and immediately Mega Evolving Diancie can be beneficial depending on the circumstance. For example, it may be wise not to lead with Diancie if your team dislikes switching into Scald and the opponent can anti-lead it with a bulky Water-type or if the opponent has a Mold Breaker Excadrill, which can set Stealth Rock freely on Mega Diancie in spite of Magic Bounce. Also, if Diancie is not immediately Mega Evolved, it can act as a better initial pivot into certain Pokemon such as Tornadus-T and Hydreigon due to its regular forme's higher bulk. At later stages in the game, Mega Diancie should be used to soften up defensive cores by firing off powerful attacks. Diancie is best brought in with partners that can pivot into it with U-turn or Volt Switch due to its mediocre bulk, and its health should be preserved if it is needed as a revenge killer or emergency check to a threat such as Bisharp or Dragonite. If this is not the case, Mega Diancie can find additional wallbreaking opportunities by switching directly into Pokemon such as Tornadus-T and Talonflame that can do little to threaten it. Do not shy away from utilizing Protect often; aside from scouting the moves of Choice item users, it can be used to learn valuable information about the opponent's moveset. For example, Mega Diancie should use Protect against Mega Medicham to see if it carries Bullet Punch and against Latios to check for Surf.

Team Options
========

Mega Diancie finds itself at home on bulky offensive builds that can effectively make use of its Speed, defensive utility, Magic Bounce, and most importantly, its incredible firepower. Fire-types such as Volcarona, Talonflame, and Volcanion can deal with its Steel-type checks and enjoy Mega Diancie warding off Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce. The former two especially appreciate its ability to keep Tyranitar at bay, weaken bulky Water-types, and threaten Heatran with Earth Power. Other Pokemon that are hindered by Stealth Rock and can clean up after Mega Diancie softens up teams, such as Dragonite and Weavile, also appreciate said traits. Magnezone is an excellent teammate if Diancie opts not to use Hidden Power Fire, as it frees up Mega Diancie offensively by trapping and eliminating Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor for it and pivots it in with Volt Switch. It should be noted that Mega Diancie loses to common Stealth Rock setters such as Excadrill, Chansey, and Ferrothorn, making it an unreliable means of entry hazard control. As such, bulky Excadrill is one of Mega Diancie's most common and effective partners, providing vital Rapid Spin support to take the pressure off of Mega Diancie to keep hazards away while preserving the hazards the latter sends back with Magic Bounce. Excadrill also takes care of Magnezone, Clefable, and Jirachi and can cripple bulky Water-types with Toxic while appreciating Mega Diancie's ability to pressure Skarmory and Tornadus-T. Starmie is another good spinner to pair with Diancie, as it can pivot into Scald from bulky Water-types, provide Thunder Wave support, and check Steel- and Ground-types such as Mega Metagross and bulky Excadrill for it. In return, Mega Diancie offensively checks Dark-types such as Bisharp and Tyranitar that give Starmie grief. Both of these spinners are highly fond of Mega Diancie's unparalleled ability to force opponents to switch and pivot around it, giving them more opportunities to come in safely and click Rapid Spin.

If Mega Diancie forgoes Stealth Rock, entry hazard setters are important teammates for it to help chip Mega Diancie's answers into range of its powerful attacks and make it near impossible to pivot around. Clefable can use Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave to support Mega Diancie or carry Ice Beam or Flamethrower to deal with Gliscor and Ferrothorn for it. Ferrothorn checks Chansey and bulky Water-types and can set up Spikes as well as Stealth Rock. Lastly, pivots that bring Mega Diancie in and soak up the hits aimed at it are great partners. Tangrowth and Alomomola handle threats such as Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny for Mega Diancie and give it opportunities to come in safely with Sleep Powder and Wish, respectively. Rotom-W and Tornadus-T can directly pivot Mega Diancie in with Volt Switch and U-turn; the former takes on Mega Scizor and Mega Metagross for Mega Diancie, while the latter checks Serperior and other Grass-types for it.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Hidden Power Ice lets Mega Diancie blitz through Landorus-T after Stealth Rock and deal huge damage to Gliscor, which otherwise is able to stall out Moonblasts with Roost. However, Hidden Power Ice is best used alongside Protect due to increased emphasis on scouting Landorus-T's set and greatly increases Diancie's reliance on teammates like Volcarona and Magnezone to handle Steel-types. Calm Mind can let Mega Diancie overwhelm checks such as Clefable and Alomomola and soak up hits from faster Pokemon such as Latios and Thundurus. Unfortunately, this is an extremely niche option because it comes at the cost of Protect, making Diancie painfully easy to revenge kill, and the loss of Diamond Storm makes it far more difficult to break special walls and check key Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y. In addition, Calm Mind Mega Diancie can still struggle in one-on-one situations with checks that can offensively pressure it such as Gliscor, Chansey, Jirachi, and Amoonguss. Rock Polish gives Mega Diancie the potential to sweep weakened offensive teams on paper, but this is also a subpar option, as it fails to help it against defensive checks and still leaves Diancie completely vulnerable to Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet users. In addition, like Calm Mind, it occupies a valuable moveslot in which Diancie would prefer to carry an important coverage or utility option. Though it can be similarly difficult to fit, Heal Bell lets Diancie offer more team support by acting as a cleric, ridding its teammates of burns from the Scalds that they may have switched into for Diancie.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-type Pokemon and Coverage**: Mega Metagross outspeeds Hidden Power Fire Mega Diancie, can take an Earth Power, and OHKOes Diancie with a Steel-type STAB move. Jirachi can also take a hit and strike back with Iron Head. Skarmory and Mega Scizor switch into Mega Diancie lacking Hidden Power Fire, and the latter OHKOes it with Bullet Punch. Ferrothorn can take a STAB move followed by Hidden Power Fire from full health and OHKO Diancie back with Gyro Ball. Magnezone survives any one hit from Diancie barring Earth Power and dispatches it with Flash Cannon. While it is OHKOed by Moonblast, Mega Medicham is known to run Bullet Punch to OHKO Mega Diancie before it can strike back, so tread carefully when facing it.

**Water-types**: Gastrodon and Jellicent check Mega Diancie decently well if they are healthy, recovering off Moonblasts and dealing huge damage back with Earthquake and Scald. Suicune survives any two hits after Stealth Rock and as such makes for a decent check, but its lack of reliable recovery is a concern. Though they also crumble to repeated blows, Rotom-W and Manaphy each can take a hit and KO Mega Diancie in return. Azumarill and Crawdaunt can revenge kill Mega Diancie with Choice Band-boosted Aqua Jet after some prior damage, but only the former is able to endure a Moonblast. Slowbro can force damage on Mega Diancie in a pinch, but it struggles greatly to take Moonblast. Slowking does not have this problem due to its higher special bulk, making it an excellent check.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth switch into Mega Diancie reliably and threaten it with their Grass-type STAB moves, and they can do so multiple times over the course of the game thanks to Regenerator. Mega Venusaur is an even stronger counter, taking all of Mega Diancie's common moves with ease and healing any damage taken with Synthesis.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey is extremely difficult for Mega Diancie to overcome, as it can take Mega Diancie's hits quite easily with Eviolite intact and 3HKO in return with Seismic Toss. Specially defensive Gliscor can stall out Moonblast with Roost and threaten major damage with Earthquake, but Moonblast can 2HKO it with Stealth Rock up and Hidden Power Ice will nearly OHKO it. Specially defensive Hippowdon and Alomomola can take two hits unless Spikes are up, but Hippowdon must be cautious of Magic Bounce returning its Toxic or Whirlwind, and Alomomola does little damage back with its weak Scald. Specially defensive Excadrill is an especially notable check, surviving a Moonblast followed by an Earth Power and OHKOing Diancie back or setting up Stealth Rock thanks to Mold Breaker.

**Faster Pokemon**: Serperior and Starmie are excellent offensive checks that force Mega Diancie out. The former can then take the opportunity to set up with Substitute or Leaf Storm, while the latter can heal or fire off a Scald. Weavile, Life Orb Thundurus, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Alakazam also outspeed and deal huge damage to Mega Diancie, but none of them can OHKO Mega Diancie without prior damage, and it can OHKO all of them in return. Choice Scarf users such as Landorus-T are able to revenge kill Mega Diancie, but Mega Diancie can scout their chosen move with Protect and act accordingly.

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Diancie is one of OverUsed's most dangerous and effective Mega Evolutions courtesy of its one-of-a-kind typing, efficient coverage, and critical Speed tier. The former, thanks to its ridiculously high Attack and Special Attack stats, grants it unique and powerful STAB moves capable of threatening physical and special walls alike. Additional coverage in the form of Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire let it handle many of the common Pokemon that can stomach its STAB attacks. Defensively, its typing grants it resistances to Fire, Flying, Dark, and an immunity to Dragon, letting it check Earthquake-less Mega Charizard X and Dragonite while also giving it opportunities to come in on attacks such as Talonflame's STAB moves, Latios's Choice-locked Draco Meteor, and Bisharp's Knock Off. Its Speed is one of its most important traits, letting it get the jump on Keldeo and Mega Pinsir and tie with Latios and Latias. Magic Bounce gives Mega Diancie additional utility, letting it deny entry hazards with proper prediction and shielding it from status moves such as Clefable's Thunder Wave and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp. However, Diancie's typing also gives it weaknesses to common Water, Steel, Grass, and Ground-type moves, making revenge killers such as Starmie, Serperior, and Mega Metagross adept at picking it off. Mega Diancie's merely average bulk and lack of recovery also means it struggles to take strong or repeated hits from Pokemon it wants to check, particularly Tornadus-T. Its low Speed before Mega Evolution is also a concern, forcing it to usually run Protect and forfeit valuable coverage or utility options in order to render its Speed usable the next turn.

Protect is essential for Mega Diancie, letting it Mega Evolve safely and circumventing Diancie's low Speed before Mega Evolution. Protect also serves a number of other purposes for Diancie, helping it effectively scout Choice users such as Azumarill, Landorus-T, and Weavile, discern whether Mega Medicham carries Bullet Punch, and force mindgames with Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick. Moonblast is very strong and has admirable neutral coverage, hitting physical walls and Ground-types such as Clefable and Landorus-T, respectively, for major damage. Diamond Storm is equally strong and reliable and helps Mega Diancie act as a mixed attacker, dishing out large damage on specially bulky Pokemon such as Heatran, Chansey, and Mew while destroying key Fire- and Flying-types such as Tornadus-T, Volcarona, and both formes of Charizard. The Defense boost it often provides is also notable, potentially coming into play against revenge killers such as Crawdaunt and Weavile. Hidden Power Fire gives Diancie coverage against important Steel-types, namely Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor, cleanly 2HKOing them all. However, Hidden Power Fire also lowers Mega Diancie's Speed IV, forfeiting the Speed tie against crucial threats such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and the odd Gengar. Earth Power is an effective alternative that solves this problem, while trading a hit on the aforementioned Steel-types for the ability to OHKO Magnezone and Bisharp, obliterate most Heatran, and 2HKO all but the most specially defensive of Jirachi.

Set Details
========

A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, letting Mega Diancie better check Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Charizard X while always surviving Gliscor's unboosted Earthquake at full HP and Bisharp's +2 Sucker Punch after Stealth Rock. It is also worth noting that even with a Naive nature, Mega Diancie survives two uninvested Moonblasts from Clefable while regular Diancie can take a +1 Giga Drain from Volcarona. 8 Attack EVs ensure that Diamond Storm OHKOes Mega Charizard X, while 20 Defense EVs let Mega Diancie tank a Choice Band Icicle Crash from Weavile after Stealth Rock. Clear Body is Diancie's only ability, but it is situationally useful against Intimidate users and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

In many matchups, Diancie will aim to Mega Evolve right away to reap the benefits of its Speed and Magic Bounce. In these instances, it is often wise to lead with Diancie and immediately Mega Evolve safely with Protect. However, choosing to abstain from leading with and immediately Mega Evolving Diancie can be beneficial depending on the circumstance. For example, it may be wise not to lead with Diancie if your team dislikes Scald and the opponent can counter-lead with a bulky Water-type, or if the opponent has a Mold Breaker Excadrill, which can set Stealth Rock freely on Diancie in spite of Magic Bounce. It is best brought in with partners that can pivot into it with U-turn or Volt Switch due to its mediocre bulk, and its health should be preserved if it is needed as a revenge killer or emergency check to an opposing threat such as Bisharp or Dragonite. If this is not the case, Mega Diancie can find additional wallbreaking opportunities by switching directly into Pokemon such as Tornadus-T and Talonflame that can do little to threaten it. Do not shy away from utilizing Protect often, as aside from scouting the moves of Choice item users, it can be used to learn valuable information about the opponent's moveset. For example, Mega Diancie should use Protect against Mega Medicham to see if it carries Bullet Punch, and against Latios to check for Surf.

Team Options
========

Mega Diancie finds itself at home on bulky offensive builds that can make use of its unique strengths. Much of Mega Diancie's utility comes from its ability to deny entry hazards with Magic Bounce, so Pokemon that are particularly vulnerable to Stealth Rock appreciate its presence greatly. As such, Fire-types such as Volcarona, Talonflame, and Volcanion pair excellently with Diancie, as they can deal with its Steel-type checks. The former two especially appreciate its ability to keep Tyranitar at bay and potentially lure in Heatran with Earth Power. Other Pokemon that are greatly hindered by Stealth Rock, such as Dragonite and Weavile, are in the same boat. However, Mega Diancie loses to common setters such as Ferrothorn, Chansey, and Gliscor, making it unreliable as a team's sole means of entry hazard control. As such, bulky Excadrill is one of Mega Diancie's most common and effective partners, providing vital Rapid Spin support to take the pressure off of Mega Diancie to keep hazards away while preserving the hazards the latter sends back with Magic Bounce. Excadrill also takes care of Scarf Magnezone, Clefable, and Jirachi and can cripple bulky Water-types with Toxic, while appreciating Mega Diancie pressuring Skarmory and Tornadus-T. Starmie is a good partner on more offensive teams, also providing Rapid Spin support while taking down many Pokemon that trouble Mega Diancie, such as Heatran, Serperior, and Ground-types, while Mega Diancie weakens Ferrothorn for it. Magnezone is an excellent teammate if Diancie opts to run Earth Power, as it traps and eliminates Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor for Mega Diancie and can pivot it in with Volt Switch.

Hazard setters are important teammates for Mega Diancie, as entry hazards can chip many of its answers into range of its attacks. Clefable can set Stealth Rock and use Thunder Wave to support Mega Diancie or carry Ice Beam or Flamethrower to deal with Gliscor and Ferrothorn for it. Ferrothorn checks Chansey and bulky Water-types and can set up Spikes as well as Stealth Rock. Lastly, pivots that bring Mega Diancie in and soak up the hits aimed at it are great partners for it. Tangrowth and Alomomola handle threats such as Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny for Mega Diancie, and can use Sleep Powder and Wish to give it opportunities to come in freely. Rotom-W and Tornadus-T can directly pivot Mega Diancie in with Volt Switch and U-turn. The former also takes on Mega Scizor and Mega Metagross for Mega Diancie, while the latter checks Serperior and other Grass-types for it.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mega Diancie can run Stealth Rock over Protect or Diamond Storm if its team possesses no other setter. However, this should only be used when absolutely necessary, as it forces Diancie to lose either valuable coverage or its ability to scout and safely Mega Evolve. Mega Diancie has a few setup moves worth considering. Calm Mind can let Diancie overwhelm its more passive checks such as Clefable, Alomomola, and Mew while soaking up hits from faster Pokemon such as Latios and Thundurus, but comes at the cost of Protect and Diamond Storm and is easily revenge killed as a result. In addition, it can struggle in one-on-one situations with other checks such as Gliscor, Chansey, Jirachi, and Amoonguss. Conversely, Rock Polish gives Mega Diancie the potential to sweep weakened offensive teams, but is a subpar option as it fails to help it against defensive checks and still leaves it completely vulnerable to Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet users.

Mega Diancie also has a few other options in the way of coverage. Hidden Power Ice lets Mega Diancie blitz through Landorus-T after Stealth Rock and deal huge damage to Gliscor, which otherwise is able to stall out Moonblasts with Roost. However, it greatly increases Diancie's reliance on teammates like Volcarona and Magnezone to handle Steel-types. Psychic has potential to let Mega Diancie effectively lure and 2HKO Mega Venusaur and Amoonguss, but it is extremely situational and should only be used on teams that can do little else to break these Pokemon. It's important to note that Psychic is best used alongside another coverage move due to its situational nature while Hidden Power Ice can be used with Protect, since it puts extra emphasis on scouting Landorus-T's moveset and Protect can let Diancie bluff another coverage move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-type Pokemon and Coverage**: Mega Metagross outspeeds Hidden Power Fire Mega Diancie, can take an Earth Power, and OHKOes Diancie with a Steel-type STAB move. Skarmory and Mega Scizor can switch into Mega Diancie lacking Hidden Power Fire, and the latter OHKOes it with Bullet Punch. Ferrothorn can take a STAB move into Hidden Power Fire from full health and OHKO Diancie back with Gyro Ball. Heatran and Magnezone can take any one hit from Diancie barring Earth Power and dispatch it with Flash Cannon. Specially defensive Excadrill survives any hit and OHKOes back or sets up Stealth Rock thanks to Mold Breaker. Specially defensive Jirachi avoids the 2HKO from any of Diancie's moves, making it an effective stop. While it is OHKOed by Moonblast, Mega Medicham is known to run Bullet Punch to OHKO Mega Diancie before it can strike back, so tread carefully when facing it.

**Water-types**: Specially defensive Gastrodon is one of Mega Diancie's best counters, resisting Diamond Storm and surviving two Moonblasts even with a layer of Spikes up. Suicune survives any two hits after Stealth Rock and as such makes for a decent check, but its lack of reliable recovery is a concern. Though they also crumble to repeated blows, Rotom-W and Manaphy each can take a hit and OHKO back. Azumarill and Crawdaunt can revenge kill Mega Diancie with Choice Band Aqua Jet after some prior damage, but only the former is able to take a Moonblast.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth switch into Mega Diancie reliably and threaten it with their Grass-type STAB moves, and can do so multiple times over the course of the game thanks to Regenerator. Mega Venusaur is an even stronger counter, taking all of Mega Diancie's common moves with aplomb and healing any damage taken with Synthesis. Celebi, while uncommon, is a decent check that can take hits and set up with Nasty Plot or Stealth Rock as Mega Diancie is forced out.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey is extremely difficult for Mega Diancie to overcome, as it can take Mega Diancie's hits quite easily with Eviolite intact and 3HKO it in return with Seismic Toss. Specially defensive Gliscor can stall out Moonblasts with Roost and threaten major damage with Earthquake, but Moonblast can 2HKO it with Stealth Rock up and Hidden Power Ice will nearly OHKO it. Specially defensive Hippowdon and Alomomola can take two hits unless Spikes are up, but Hippowdon must be cautious of having its Toxic or Whirlwind used against it, and Alomomola does little back with its weak Scald. Specially defensive Mew walls Mega Diancie, but unless it carries Earthquake it cannot touch Diancie aside from forcing a mutual burn with Synchronize.

**Faster Pokemon**: Serperior and Starmie are excellent offensive checks that force Mega Diancie out. The former can then take the opportunity to set up with Substitute or Leaf Storm while the latter can fire off an Analytic-boosted attack. Weavile, Life Orb Thundurus, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Alakazam also outspeed and deal huge damage to Mega Diancie, but none of them OHKO Mega Diancie without prior damage and it can OHKO all of them in return. Choice Scarf users such as Garchomp, Landorus-T, and Keldeo are able to revenge kill Mega Diancie, but it can scout their chosen move with Protect and act accordingly.

The main thing I've noticed in this analysis is how it seems to be pretty outdated, mentioning threats/sets that haven’t been relevant for a few years now.

Overview

Edit the line where it talks about Diancie defensively with more relevant things its typing helps with, such as staving off a +1 volcarona, resisting talonflames stab, bisharps sucker, and mega pinsirs quick attack. When talking about diancies speed you should mention outspeeding the base 100s as they are more relevant than ever in this meta. Mention Heatran when talking about Magic Bounce since it really restricts you to only safely clicking Lava Plume. Mention Diancie’s frailty along with its typing when talking about revenge killers, and I’d also mention weavile and lopunny there as diancie will rarely stay out of range of their attacks throughout a game.

SET

Put Earth Power before HP Fire it’s the better coverage (not alternative) and used more commonly. Stealth Rock should also be slashed next to Diamond Storm and also the coverage. 3atks Dia is typically better but Rocks is usable considering Dia gets lots of opportunities to set them up.

MOVES

Rather than saying Moonblast hits “physical walls and ground-types” just say it hits neutral targets for heavy damage, only resisted by Steel- and Fire-types which your coverage helps with. Move Earth Powers details before HP Fires, and add the main reason for using Earth Power which is that it always 2HKOS Excadrill (rather than sdef jirachi which is not a relevant calc anymore at all) and depending on the EV Spread,will usually ko after Moonblast damage.

SET

4 atk / 252 spatk / 252 spe is a go to spread. 8 atk to ko zardx isn’t a relevant calc anymore either, and the 20 Defense seems pretty redundant given that Diancie won’t stay very healthy throughout the match. Given that you spam Moonblast more than anything else max spatk is typically the best option.

TEAM OPTIONS

I think you focus too much on magic bounce blocking hazards when Diancie’s main selling point is how strong it is and teams struggle to find a safe switch in and can often only pivot around it. I’m not sure why Gliscor is next to Chansey and Ferro as a common hazard setter, you should replace that with Excadrill as it actually uses rocks and magic bounce doesn’t stop its rocks. Rather than saying Starmie is a more viable option on offensive teams i’d put its a different option as a remover, as Starmie is definitely not more viable than drill. You can list what starmie has over drill such as checking metagross, twave, and being a water resist.

OTHER OPTIONS

Stealth Rocks shouldn’t just be an other option as it is perfectly viable to run on diancie, with the added bonus of being one of the few rockers to keep them up vs stall. Remove Psychic from here it should never be used the 2 mons its supposed to be for get hit hard enough by diamond storm and are rarely ever seen. Mention Heal Bell here.

CHECKS AND COUNTERS

Steel types: heatran doesn’t use flash cannon, and needs heavy spdef investment to live an earth power from full so i’d remove it from here. Dia is a heatran check not the other way around

Water-Types: gastro only checks diancie when its healthy as you don’t OHKO and you don’t take 2 moonblasts since you will be physdef not sdef. Sdef gastro is not viable in this tier. Mention jellicent here as you can live 2 moonblasts but thats only without rocks. Slowbro can also be added here as you force damage on diancie, but mention that slowking is a better diancie check.

Grass types: remove celebi from here

Spdef walls: excadrill with investment can take moonblast into earth power, add this. Gliscor can take 2 moonblasts but only without rocks up. Spdef mew should be removed from here.

Faster-pokemon: For starmie say it can recover or throw off a scald, analytic starmie is seldom seen. Remove scarf chomp & keldeo from here.

Intro:

Mention Mega Scizor as a revenge killer.

Other Options:

Calm Mind can let Diancie overwhelm its more passive checks such as Clefable, Alomomola, and Mew

I feel like Mew is an unnecessary addition, as it is seldom used. Also I think you should place more emphasis on Calm Mind and Rock Polish both being very niche and generally underwhelming. Emphasize that coverage is very very important on Diancie, so taking up a move slot for a non attacking move is in most cases not advised.

After that QC 2/2 (sorry i have been dead)

Don't worry my computer exploded when I was writing the torn analysis and it took like 6 months. As long as it gets done eventually.

The former, thanks to its ridiculously high Attack and Special Attack stats, grants it unique and powerful STAB moves capable of threatening physical and special walls alike. With its high offensive stats and powerful STAB moves, it can threaten both physical and special walls effectively. Additional coverage in the form of Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire let it handle many of the common Pokemon that can stomach its STAB attacks. Defensively, its typing grants it resistances to Fire, Flying, Dark, and an immunity to Dragon, letting it check Earthquake-less Mega Charizard X and Dragonite while also helping it and take crucial attacks such as Talonflame and Volcarona's boosted STAB moves, Mega Pinsir's Quick Attack, and Bisharp's Sucker Punch. Its Speed is one of its most important traits, letting it get the jump on threatening Pokemon that hover on and around the crowded base 100 Speed tier, such as Garchomp, Manaphy, Keldeo, and unboosted Volcarona, as well as Speed tying with Latios and Latias. Magic Bounce gives Mega Diancie additional utility, letting it allows Mega Diance to deny entry hazards with proper prediction and shielding it shield itself from status moves such as Heatran's Toxic and Taunt, Clefable's Thunder Wave, and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp. However, Mega Diancie is burdened with mediocre bulk and its typing gives it weaknesses to common Water-, Steel-, Grass-, and Ground-type moves, making revenge killers such as Serperior, Weavile, Mega Lopunny, Mega Scizor, and Mega Metagross adept at picking it off. Mega Diancie's average bulk and lack of recovery also means Additionally, Mega Diancie lacks reliable recovery, meaning it struggles to take strong or repeated hits from Pokemon it wants to check, particularly Tornadus-T. Its low Speed before Mega Evolution is also a concern, forcing it to usually run Protect and forfeit valuable coverage or utility options in order to render its Speed usable the next turn. Moves

Protect is essential for Mega Diancie, letting it Mega Evolve safely and circumventing circumvent Diancie's low Speed before Mega Evolution. Protect also serves a number of other purposes for Diancie, helping it effectively scout Choice users such as Azumarill, Landorus-T, and Weavile, discerning whether Mega Medicham carries Bullet Punch, and force forcing mindgames with Mega Lopunny's High Jump Kick. Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest and most reliable STAB move, hitting most neutral targets very hard. Diamond Storm helps Mega Diancie act as a mixed attacker, dishing out large respectable damage on specially bulky Pokemon such as Chansey and Slowking while destroying key Fire- and Flying-types such as Tornadus-T, Volcarona, and both formes of Charizard.(since all Charizard formes are threatened here) The Defense boost it often provides is also notable, potentially coming into play against revenge killers such as Crawdaunt and Weavile. Earth Power is Mega Diancie's best coverage option to threaten valuable Steel-types, most importantly securing the 2HKO on any variant of Excadrill(FS) Earth Power also cleanly 2HKOs and Mega Metagross while obliterating Heatran, Magnezone, and Bisharp. Alternatively, Hidden Power Fire gives Diancie useful coverage against a different set of Steel-types, namely can 2HKO Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor, hitting them all for a 2HKO. However, Hidden Power Fire also lowers Mega Diancie's Speed IV, forfeiting the Speed tie against threats such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and the odd Gengar. Stealth Rock can be used in place of Diamond Storm or a coverage option if the team lacks another setter, as Mega Diancie is an effective user of the move due to the amount of switches it forces. It is especially noteworthy for being able to keep Stealth Rock up versus stall thanks to its strong matchup against Zapdos, the most common form of hazard control on the archetype.

Set Details
========

The given EV spread maximizes Mega Diancie's damage output and lets it properly utilize its excellent Speed tier.(is this really necessary? I'm pretty sure C&C says somewhere that generalized comments for 252/252 spreads are unneeded) A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, letting Mega Diancie better check Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Charizard X while always surviving Gliscor's unboosted Earthquake at full HP and Bisharp's +2 Sucker Punch after Stealth Rock. It is also worth noting that even with a Naive nature, Mega Dianciecan survives two uninvested Moonblasts from Clefable while regular Diancie can take a +1 Giga Drain from Volcarona.(parallel structure) However, if Stealth Rock is chosen over Diamond Storm, Diancie should instead run a Timid nature to preserve its bulk. Clear Body is Diancie's only ability, but it is situationally useful against Intimidate users and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

In many matchups, players should lead off with Diancie will aim to and Mega Evolve safely with Protect right away to reap the benefits of its Speed and Magic Bounce. In these instances, it is often wise to lead with Diancie and immediately Mega Evolve safely with Protect. However, choosing to abstain from leading with and immediately Mega Evolving Diancie can be beneficial depending on the circumstance. For example, it may be wise not to lead with Diancie if your team dislikes switching into Scald and the opponent can counter-lead with a bulky Water-type, or if the opponent has a Mold Breaker Excadrill, which can set Stealth Rock freely on Mega Diancie in spite of Magic Bounce.

========

Mega Diancie finds itself at home on bulky offensive builds that can effectively make use of its Speed, defensive utility, Magic Bounce, and most importantly,(AC) its incredible firepower. Fire-types such as Volcarona, Talonflame, and Volcanion pair excellently with Diancie, as they can deal with its Steel-type checks and enjoy Mega Diancie warding off Stealth Rock with Magic Bounce. The former two especially appreciate its ability to keep Tyranitar at bay, weaken bulky Water-types, and lure in Heatran with Earth Power. Other Pokemon that are hindered by Stealth Rock and can clean up after Mega Diancie softens up teams, such as Dragonite and Weavile, are in the same boat also appreciate said traits. Magnezone is an excellent teammate if Diancie opts out of using Hidden Power Fire, as it frees up Mega Diancie offensively by trapping and eliminating Ferrothorn, Skarmory, and Mega Scizor for it and pivots it in with Volt Switch. It should be noted that Mega Diancie loses to common setters such as Excadrill, Chansey, and Ferrothorn, making it an unreliable means of hazard control. As such, bulky Excadrill is one of Mega Diancie's most common and effective partners, providing vital Rapid Spin support to take the pressure off of Mega Diancie to keep hazards away while preserving the hazards the latter sends sent back with Magic Bounce. Excadrill also takes care of Magnezone, Clefable, and Jirachi and can cripple bulky Water-types with Toxic, while appreciating Mega Diancie pressuring Skarmory and Tornadus-T. Starmie is another good Rapid Spin user to pair with Diancie, as it can pivot into Scald from bulky Water-types, provide Thunder Wave support, and check Steel- and Ground-types such as Mega Metagross and bulky Excadrill for it.

If Mega Diancie forgoes Stealth Rock, hazard setters are important teammates for it, as entry hazards can chip its Mega Diancie's answers into range of its powerful attacks and make it near impossible to pivot around. Tangrowth and Alomomola handle threats such as Mega Metagross and Mega Lopunny for Mega Diancie,giving opportunities for it to come in safely with and can use Sleep Powder and Wish respectively to give it opportunities to come in safely.(variety) Rotom-W and Tornadus-T can directly pivot Mega Diancie in with Volt Switch and U-turn;(remove FS, add apostrophe) the former also takes on Mega Scizor and Mega Metagross for Mega Diancie, while the latter checks Serperior and other Grass-types for it.

Other Options
=============

Hidden Power Ice lets Mega Diancie blitz through Landorus-T after Stealth Rock and deal huge damage to Gliscor, which otherwise is able to stall out Moonblasts with Roost. However, Hidden Power Ice is best used alongside Protect due to increased emphasis on scouting Landorus-T's set. As such, it greatly increases Diancie's reliance on teammates like Volcarona and Magnezone to handle Steel-types. In addition, it Mega Diancie can struggle in one-on-one situations with less passive checks that can offensively pressure it such as Gliscor, Chansey, Jirachi, and Amoonguss. Rock Polish gives Mega Diancie the potential to sweep weakened offensive teams on paper, but this is also a subpar option as it fails to help it against defensive checks and still leaves Diancie completely vulnerable to Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet users. In addition, like Calm Mind, it occupies a valuable moveslot in which Diancie would prefer to carry an important coverage or utility option. Though it can be similarly difficult to fit, Heal Bell lets Diancie offer more team support by acting as a cleric, in particular ridding its teammates of burns from the Scalds that they may have switched into for it Diancie.

Checks and Counters
===================

Ferrothorn can take a STAB move into Hidden Power Fire from full health and OHKO Diancie back with Gyro Ball. Magnezone survives any one hit from Diancie once barring Earth Power and dispatches it with Flash Cannon. While it is OHKOed by Moonblast, Mega Medicham is known to run Bullet Punch to OHKO Mega Diancie before it can strike back, so tread carefully when facing it.

**Water-types**: Gastrodon and Jellicent check Mega Diancie decently well if they are healthy, recovering off Moonblasts and forcing huge damage back with Earthquake and Scald. Suicune survives any two hits after Stealth Rock and as such makes for a decent check, but its lack of reliable recovery is a concern. Though they also crumble to repeated blows, Rotom-W and Manaphy each can take a hit and KO back Mega Diancie in return. Azumarill and Crawdaunt can revenge kill Mega Diancie with Choice Band Aqua Jet after some prior damage, but only the former is able to endure a Moonblast. Slowbro can force damage on Mega Diancie in a pinch, but it struggles greatly to take Moonblast. Slowking does not have this problem due to its higher special bulk, making it an excellent check.

**Bulky Grass-types**: Amoonguss and Assault Vest Tangrowth switch into Mega Diancie reliably and threaten it with their Grass-type STAB moves, and can do so multiple times over the course of the game thanks to Regenerator. Mega Venusaur is an even stronger counter, taking all of Mega Diancie's common moves with aplomb(this word works but you might want to change to another word so ppl find it easier to read. I had to search this up) and healing any damage taken with Synthesis.

**Specially Defensive Walls**: Chansey is extremely difficult for Mega Diancie to overcome, as it can take Mega Diancie's hits quite easily with Eviolite intact and 3HKO in return with Seismic Toss. Specially defensive Excadrill is an especially notable check, surviving a Moonblast into an Earth Power and OHKOing back or setting up Stealth Rock thanks to Mold Breaker.

**Faster Pokemon**: Serperior and Starmie are excellent offensive checks that force Mega Diancie out. The former can then take the opportunity to set up with Substitute or Leaf Storm while the latter can heal or fire off a Scald. Weavile, Life Orb Thundurus, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Alakazam also outspeed and deal huge damage to Mega Diancie, but none of them can OHKO Mega Diancie without prior damage and it can OHKO all of them in return. Choice Scarf users such as Landorus-T are able to revenge kill Mega Diancie, but it Mega Diancie can scout their chosen move with Protect and act accordingly.

With its high offensive stats and powerful STAB moves, Mega Diancie can threaten both physical and special walls effectively. Additional coverage in the form of Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire let it handle many of the common Pokemon that can stomach its STAB attacks. Diamond Storm helps Mega Diancie act as a mixed attacker, dishing out respectable damage on to specially bulky Pokemon such as Chansey and Slowking while destroying key Fire- and Flying-types such as Tornadus-T, Volcarona, and Charizard. The Defense boost it often provides is also notable, potentially coming into play against revenge killers such as Crawdaunt and Weavile. Earth Power is Mega Diancie's best coverage option to threaten valuable Steel-types, most importantly securing the 2HKO on any variant of Excadrill and Mega Metagross while obliterating Heatran, Magnezone, and Bisharp. Alternatively, Hidden Power Fire can 2HKO Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor. However, Hidden Power Fire lowers Mega Diancie's Speed IV, forfeiting the Speed speed tie against threats such as Latios, Mega Metagross, and the odd Gengar.

Set Details

A Naive nature is preferred over Hasty, letting Mega Diancie better check Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, and Mega Charizard X while always surviving Gliscor's unboosted Earthquake at full HP and Bisharp's +2 Sucker Punch after Stealth Rock. It is also worth noting that even with a Naive nature, Mega Diancie can survive two uninvested Moonblasts from Clefable while regular Diancie can take a +1 Giga Drain from Volcarona. However, if Stealth Rock is chosen over Diamond Storm, Diancie should instead run a Timid nature to preserve its bulk. Clear Body is Diancie's only ability, but it is useful against Intimidate users and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

It Diancie is best brought in with partners that can pivot into it with U-turn or Volt Switch due to its mediocre bulk, and its health should be preserved if it is needed as a revenge killer or emergency check to an opposing threat such as Bisharp or Dragonite. For example, Mega Diancie should use Protect against Mega Medicham to see if it carries Bullet Punch, and against Latios to check for Surf.

Team Options
========

The former two especially appreciate its ability to keep Tyranitar at bay, weaken bulky Water-types, and lure in Heatran with Earth Power(should probably reword this, the move earth power doesn’t lure heatran). It should be noted that Mega Diancie loses to common setters such as Excadrill, Chansey, and Ferrothorn, making it an unreliable means of hazard control. As such, bulky Excadrill is one of Mega Diancie's most common and effective partners, providing vital Rapid Spin support to take the pressure off of Mega Diancie to keep hazards away while preserving the hazards the latter sends back with Magic Bounce. Excadrill also takes care of Magnezone, Clefable, and Jirachi and can cripple bulky Water-types with Toxic, while appreciating Mega Diancie pressuring Skarmory and Tornadus-T. Starmie is another good Rapid Spin user spinner to pair with Diancie, as it can pivot into Scald from bulky Water-types, provide Thunder Wave support, and check Steel- and Ground-types such as Mega Metagross and bulky Excadrill for it.

If Mega Diancie forgoes Stealth Rock, hazard setters are important teammates for it, as entry hazards can chip Mega Diancie's answers into range of its powerful attacks and make it near impossible to pivot around.

Other Options
=============

Though it can be similarly difficult to fit, Heal Bell lets Diancie offer more team support by acting as a cleric, ridding its teammates of burns from the Scalds that they may have switched into for Diancie.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-type Pokemon and Coverage**: Mega Metagross outspeeds Hidden Power Fire Mega Diancie, can take an Earth Power, and OHKOes Diancie with a Steel-type STAB Meteor Mash(i assume?)move. Jirachi can also take a hit and strike back with Iron Head. Skarmory and Mega Scizor switch into Mega Diancie lacking Hidden Power Fire, and the latter OHKOes it with Bullet Punch. Ferrothorn can take a STAB move into Hidden Power Fire from full health and OHKO Diancie back with Gyro Ball.

**Water-types**: Gastrodon and Jellicent check Mega Diancie decently well if they are healthy, recovering off Moonblasts and forcing dealing huge damage back with Earthquake and Scald. Suicune survives any two hits after Stealth Rock and as such makes for a decent check, but its lack of reliable recovery is a concern. Though they also crumble to repeated blows, Rotom-W and Manaphy each can take a hit and KO Mega Diancie in return.

Specially defensive Gliscor can stall out Moonblasts with Roost and threaten major damage with Earthquake, but Moonblast can 2HKO it with Stealth Rock up and Hidden Power Ice will nearly OHKO it. Specially defensive Hippowdon and Alomomola can take two hits unless Spikes are up, but Hippowdon must be cautious of Magic Bounce having its Toxic or Whirlwind used against it, and Alomomola does little damage back with its weak Scald.

Choice Scarf users such as Landorus-T are able to revenge kill Mega Diancie, but Mega Diancie can scout their chosen move with Protect and act accordingly.

:xy/diancie-mega: ALL HAIL THE DIAMOND QUEEN

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Diancie is one of OverUsed's most dangerous Mega Evolutions courtesy of its one-of-a-kind unique typing, efficient coverage, and critical Speed tier. With its high offensive stats and powerful STAB moves, Mega Diancie can threaten both physical and special walls effectively. Additional coverage in the form of Earth Power and Hidden Power Fire let it handle many of the common Pokemon that can stomach its STAB attacks. Defensively, its Diancie’s typing grants it resistances to Fire, Flying, Dark, and an immunity to Dragon, letting it check Earthquake-less Mega Charizard X and Dragonite and take crucial attacks such as Talonflame and Volcarona's boosted STAB moves, Mega Pinsir's Quick Attack, and Bisharp's Sucker Punch. Its Diancie’s Speed is one of its most important traits, letting it get the jump on threatening Pokemon that hover on and around the crowded base 100 Speed tier, such as Garchomp, Manaphy, Keldeo, and unboosted Volcarona, as well as Speed speed tying with Latios and Latias. Magic Bounce allows Mega Diancie to deny entry hazards with proper prediction and shield itself from status moves such as Heatran's Toxic and Taunt, Clefable's Thunder Wave, and Rotom-W's Will-O-Wisp. However, Mega Diancie is burdened with mediocre bulk, and its typing gives it weaknesses to common Water, Steel, Grass, and Ground-type moves, making revenge killers such as Serperior, Weavile, Mega Lopunny, Mega Scizor, and Mega Metagross adept at picking it off. Additionally, Mega Diancie lacks reliable recovery, meaning it struggles to take strong or repeated hits from Pokemon it wants to check, particularly Tornadus-T. Its Diancie’s low Speed before Mega Evolving Evolution is also a concern, forcing it to run Protect and forfeit valuable coverage or utility options in order to render its Speed usable the next turn.

good job! :blobthumbsup:
Thanks for the AM check! I want to clarify that I have Steel STAB moves there for Metagross instead of Meteor Mash because it includes Bullet Punch, which is even more problematic for Diancie because it bypasses the Speed tie (on that note capital S in Speed tie is also correct formatting iirc)

Excadrill also takes care of Magnezone, Clefable, and Jirachi and can cripple bulky Water-types with Toxic (RC) while appreciating Mega Diancie's ability to pressuring pressure Skarmory and Tornadus-T.

If Mega Diancie forgoes Stealth Rock, entry hazard setters are important teammates for it, as entry hazards can to help chip Mega Diancie's answers into range of its powerful attacks and make it near impossible to pivot around.

Other Options
=============

As such, it and greatly increases Diancie's reliance on teammates like Volcarona and Magnezone to handle Steel-types. Rock Polish gives Mega Diancie the potential to sweep weakened offensive teams on paper, but this is also a subpar option, (AC) as it fails to help it against defensive checks and still leaves Diancie completely vulnerable to Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet users.

===================

Ferrothorn can take a STAB move into followed by Hidden Power Fire from full health and OHKO Diancie back with Gyro Ball.

Specially defensive Gliscor can stall out Moonblasts Moonblast with Roost and threaten major damage with Earthquake, but Moonblast can 2HKO it with Stealth Rock up, (AC) and Hidden Power Ice will nearly OHKO it. Specially defensive Hippowdon and Alomomola can take two hits unless Spikes are up, but Hippowdon must be cautious of Magic Bounce returning its Toxic or Whirlwind, and Alomomola does little damage back with its weak Scald. Specially defensive Excadrill is an especially notable check, surviving a Moonblast into followed by an Earth Power and OHKOing Diancie back or setting up Stealth Rock thanks to Mold Breaker.

**Faster Pokemon**: Serperior and Starmie are excellent offensive checks that force Mega Diancie out. The former can then take the opportunity to set up with Substitute or Leaf Storm, (AC) while the latter can heal or fire off a Scald. Weavile, Life Orb Thundurus, Mega Lopunny, and Mega Alakazam also outspeed and deal huge damage to Mega Diancie, but none of them can OHKO Mega Diancie without prior damage, (AC) and it can OHKO all of them in return. Choice Scarf users such as Landorus-T are able to revenge kill Mega Diancie, but Mega Diancie can scout their chosen move with Protect and act accordingly.
