1v1 Mega Diancie

[OVERVIEW]
Mega Diancie is a good anti-metagame Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame with its unique Rock / Fairy typing that, in combination with its good Speed tier, allows it to reliably beat metagame staples such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Gyarados and serve as a good check to the ubiquitous Dragonite, only fearing Choice item variants. Furthermore, its pre-Mega ability Clear Body nullifies the effects of Intimidate from Pokemon like Mega Gyarados, while its post-Mega ability Magic Bounce protects it from status moves directed at it, ensuring wins against certain stall Pokemon like Whimsicott and fast sleep users like Jumpluff, Vivillon, and Smeargle. Diancie's excellent bulk prior to Mega Evolution allows it to delay Mega Evolution to beat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Porygon-Z, and Mega Gyarados. Mega Diancie's EVs are stretched thin, however, so it is unable to consistently beat Mega Gyarados and simultaneously outspeed fast offensive Pokemon such as Garchomp, Kartana, and Durant. Furthermore, the prominence of Steel-types in the metagame hurts Mega Diancie, as its 4x weakness to Steel is easily exploited by threats such as Heatran, Mega Aggron, and Celesteela.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat. Diamond Storm is a secondary STAB attack that hits Fire-types like Volcarona and Mega Charizard X and Y while giving Mega Diancie a chance to beat some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados due to the move's 50% chance to raise Defense by two stages. Magnet Rise is used to beat Ground-types like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Donphan that Mega Diancie outspeeds. It also allows Mega Diancie to evade Earthquake from physical Dragonium Z variants of Dragonite. Hidden Power Fire hits foes 4x weak to it such as Kartana and non-Choice Scarf Genesect that would otherwise tank any of Mega Diancie's attacks and KO it in return. Rock Tomb allows Mega Diancie to consistently beat Porygon-Z as well as non-Choice item Dragonite and bulky Mega Gyarados. Calm Mind can be used to beat Type: Null, but it is rarely useful outside of this matchup and causes Mega Diancie to lose the important matchup against Kartana.

Set Details
========

Maximum Speed investment with a Speed-boosting nature ensures that Mega Diancie is able to outspeed Kartana. Maximum Special Attack investment allows Mega Diancie to hit as hard as possible with Moonblast. 4 Attack EVs grant some extra power on Mega Diancie's Diamond Storm. A Naive nature is used so that Mega Diancie doesn't lose power on Diamond Storm or Rock Tomb and has a better chance to beat Mega Gyarados if it gets Defense boosts from Diamond Storm.

If running Rock Tomb, use an alternative EV spread of 68 HP / 208 SpA / 232 Spe with a Naive nature to ensure that Diancie beats maximum Attack Dragonite by tanking Earthquake in its base forme in addition to Extreme Speed after Mega Evolving.

Usage Tips
=========
Mega Diancie should be mainly be used against prominent metagame threats like non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Charizard X and Y, Kommo-o, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta that it can reliably beat, as opposed to a catch-all against unknown matchups. Against most Ground-types, like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T, immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. After this, simply use the move that will do the most damage to them, which is often Moonblast. However, against Garchomp, simply use Moonblast immediately to OHKO it. Against Donphan, after using Magnet Rise, use Diamond Storm first to avoid losing to Endeavor sets. This will be unnecessary if they use Head Smash, however, as this will break Sturdy and allow Moonblast to be used immediately for the KO. Against Zygarde, if predicting Tectonic Rage to be used, Mega Diancie should use Magnet Rise to avoid being OHKOed, but if predicting Thousand Arrows, Mega Diancie should use Moonblast to 2HKO Zygarde; note that Moonblast sometimes OHKOes it as well, easing the pressure of the mind game. Against Porygon-Z, bulky Mega Gyarados, and non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Diancie can win if running Rock Tomb. After using Rock Tomb turn one without Mega Evolving against Porygon-Z, the play depends on what Porygon-Z has done. If Porygon-Z has used Breakneck Blitz, Mega Evolving and using Moonblast wins the matchup, while if Porygon-Z has used Z-Conversion, use Moonblast without Mega Evolving, and use Moonblast again while Mega Evolving this time to win. Against Dragonite, just use Rock Tomb, and Mega Evolve and use Moonblast to secure the KO, assuming you're running the alternative EV spread to ensure that Diancie can tank Dragonite's attacks. Against bulky Mega Gyarados, not Mega Evolving and using Rock Tomb turn one followed by Mega Evolving and using Moonblast turn two will almost always let Mega Diancie win. If you encounter an offensive Mega Gyarados, Diancie should immediately Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm, as if the chance for a Defense boost activates, it will win with Moonblast. However, this coinflip situation makes the matchup extremely unreliable, unlike with bulky Mega Gyarados.

Team Options
==========

Since fast Mega Diancie loses to many Water- and Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Tapu Bulu and has an inconsistent matchup against Mega Gyarados and Zygarde, Pokemon that can consistently beat these threats like Mega Venusaur work well with it. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Charizard Y, Garchomp, and Meloetta for Mega Venusaur. Steel-types with good matchups against Water-types like Kartana and specially defensive tanks like Meloetta synergize well with Mega Diancie, as they can beat Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, and Primarina, all of which Mega Diancie struggles with. Mega Diancie can, in return, beat Fire-types like both formes of Mega Charizard, Victini, and Mega Blaziken for Kartana and Dark-types like Scrafty, Incineroar, and Mega Sableye for Meloetta. Fast Mega Diancie's general weakness to speedier offensive Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Choice Specs Deoxys-S, and Zeraora means that stall Pokemon capable of taking hits from them, such as Type: Null and Kee Berry Mew, make for good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat fast sleep users like Jumpluff and Vivillon and certain stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o that these Pokemon struggle with.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and hits Mega Gyarados, Kommo-o, Dragonite, and Krookodile hard. Rock Tomb gives Mega Diancie a secondary STAB attack to hit Volcarona and Mega Charizard X and Y while providing an important method of speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-Choice item Dragonite. Magnet Rise allows Mega Diancie to beat some slow Ground-types like Groundium Z Donphan, Groundium Z Golem, and Mega Camerupt. Diamond Storm allows Mega Diancie to consistently beat some specially bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Togekiss. Calm Mind can be run over Diamond Storm to beat certain stall Pokemon such as Type: Null, non-Amnesia Kee Berry Mew, and Porygon2.

Set Details
========

224 HP EVs and 52 Defense EVs allow Mega Diancie to tank bulky Mega Gyarados's Waterfall in its Mega forme and maximum Attack Mega Gyarados's Waterfall in its base forme. 28 Speed EVs ensure that Mega Diancie outspeeds maximum Speed Adamant Mega Gyarados as well as base 70 Speed Pokemon after Mega Evolving. The remaining EVs are put into Special Attack to maximize Mega Diancie's damage output, notably almost guaranteeing the KO on bulky Mega Gyarados when Mega Diancie is played correctly. A Rash nature is used so that the damage output of Rock Tomb is not reduced, as its low Base Power makes this necessary.

Usage Tips
=========

If you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a bulky spread, then Mega Evolve immediately and use Rock Tomb turn one, as Mega Gyarados will then be unable to OHKO Mega Diancie with Waterfall. After this, simply use Moonblast turn two for the KO. Note that most Mega Gyarados run bulky spreads, so if you are unsure about what the foe's spread is, this is the safest option. However, if you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a more offensive spread, do not Mega Evolve, and use Rock Tomb turn one to get chip damage and to prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you if it uses Dragon Dance; on turn two, Mega Evolve and use Moonblast for the KO. Against Mega Charizard X and Y, use Diamond Storm if you are running it or Rock Tomb and refrain from Mega Evolving turn one to ensure the win, as Mega Evolving will cause Mega Diancie to be outsped and subsequently OHKOed by Solar Beam from Mega Charizard Y. Against Ground-types that Mega Diancie can't immediately KO, like Donphan and bulky Landorus-T, Mega Evolve and click Magnet Rise turn one in order to evade their powerful STAB attacks like Tectonic Rage and Earthquake. Note, however, that Landorus-T can potentially use Rock Tomb followed by repeated uses of Substitute to stall out Mega Diancie's Magnet Rise turns before outspeeding and KOing it with its Ground-type moves, so if you suspect this play to come out, it is better to remain non-Mega-Evolved the first turn so as to avoid the Speed drop from Rock Tomb with Clear Body. Against Donphan, use either Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm turn two to avoid losing to Endeavor sets, unless it has already broken its Sturdy with Head Smash. After this, use Moonblast repeatedly to ensure the win. Against fast sleep users and stall Pokemon that use status moves such as Leech Seed, Spore, Sleep Powder, and Toxic such as Jumpluff, Smeargle, Vivillon, and Chansey, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves. Against Meloetta, first use Diamond Storm without Mega Evolving, then Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm to secure the win. If not running Diamond Storm, refrain from sending Mega Diancie out against Meloetta, as it will have a losing matchup.

Team Options
==========
Since bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, Pokemon that reliably beat these threats, such as Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Blaziken, Golem, and other Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-types, make for good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Mega Gyarados, Kommo-o, and Donphan for these Pokemon. Since bulky Mega Diancie struggles against Water-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Manaphy, Electric- and Grass-types like Zeraora and Serperior make for good partners. Zeraora also has an excellent matchup against most of the aforementioned Steel-types that threaten Mega Diancie. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Flyinium Z Dragonite and Mega Charizard X and Y for Serperior and Donphan and Whimsicott for Zeraora. If not running Calm Mind, Mega Diancie struggles to break through stall Pokemon like stall Deoxys-S, Type: Null, and Kee Berry Mew. This makes stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Donphan, Golem, and special Dragonite for Incineroar, and non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, and Whimsicott for Kommo-o.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
===========

On either Mega Diancie set, Skill Swap can be used with Earth Power to lure and defeat non-Air Balloon Magnezone. It can also be used to let Mega Diancie wall Zeraora with its own Volt Absorb ability, to remove Mega Gardevoir's Pixilate if running fast Mega Diancie, to steal Clefable's Unaware to use against it, and to steal Crustle's Sturdy when not running Rock Tomb.

Checks and Counters
=================

**Steel-type Attackers and Steel-type Coverage**: Steel-types like Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Mega Metagross, and Celesteela are able to tank any of Mega Diancie's moves, with the exception of Genesect being OHKOed by fast Mega Diancie's Hidden Power Fire, and OHKO Mega Diancie back with their STAB moves, exploiting its crippling 4x weakness to Steel. Additionally, Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed Mega Diancie and OHKO it with their Steel-type coverage moves such as Iron Head and Iron Tail.

**Ground-types**: Many Ground-types such as Landorus, Garchomp, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Choice Scarf Landorus-T can outspeed bulky Mega Diancie and KO it with their powerful STAB moves. Mega Diancie's access to Magnet Rise can potentially neutralize some of these Pokemon, but some bulky Ground-types like Rockium Z Golem and Mega Swampert can take advantage of their other STAB options to still hit Mega Diancie hard, while Quagsire can make use of Z-Stockpile and Recover to set up before whittling away at Mega Diancie's health with Scald.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to being forced to run a Naive or Rash nature, Mega Diancie's special bulk is diminished. This can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z, although Mega Diancie has ways to mitigate this, like with Skill Swap against Mega Gardevoir and Rock Tomb against Porygon-Z.

**Offensive Grass- and Water-types**: Pokemon like Tapu Bulu, Greninja, and Primarina can OHKO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves, while Mega Diancie is either unable to significantly damage them in return or unable to outspeed them.

**Walls**: Pokemon with extremely high defensive stats such as Mega Slowbro, Clefable, Registeel, Kee Berry Mew, and Stored Power Necrozma can render Mega Diancie's attacks mostly ineffective, allowing these Pokemon to beat Mega Diancie before it can significantly damage them in return.

This one is actually pretty good! I can‘t think of anything that could do major damage to it or get past its defenses easily. Though, what if a move like Smack Down manages to hit? Then the Magnet Rise is practically gone. Other than that, it’s golden! Or diamond? :blobthinking:

It's not even close to finished, so I have no idea how this is good as a first draft. Thx for the feedback, and I'm going to try to continue working now

Go ahead and ask me if you have any questions
You're not required to implement anything I say that you don't like
  • Mega Diancie is a good anti-metagame Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame with its unique Rock/Fairy typing. The point below this pretty much restates the same thing, so you can just merge the two; it actually splices quite nicely
  • Mega Diancie's good bulk and typing, along with its good Speed tier in Mega form allow it to reliably beat tier staples such as Mega Charizard X, and Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Gyarados with the right set, while serving as a good check against the omnipresent Mega Gyarados and Dragonite, only fearing sets carrying Iron Head such as Choice Scarf Dragonite from the latter and having an extremely high chance of winning against the former if using the correct set.
  • Diancie's ability Clear Body nullifies the effects of Intimidate users like Mega Gyarados and Incineroar, while Magic Bounce blocks Diancie from status moves directed at it, ensuring wins against certain stall Pokemon like Jumpluff and Whimsicott.
  • Bulky Mega Diancie's EVs are stretched thin to maximize its chances against tier titan Mega Gyarados, causing its bulk speed to be somewhat reduced due to minimal EV investment (and also requires Diancie the requirements to run a -SpD nature) OPTIONAL. This causes it to not be able to beat Mega Gyarados and faster threats like Kartana and Garchomp at the same time. This causes it to fare poorly against many strong special attackers such as Primarina, Mega Gardevoir, and Tapu Lele. Unless I optimize some kind of Specially Defensive set Diancie doesn't necessary lose to these because of having to run Rash, it's more that these Pokemon have really high base power moves that Diancie cannot match
  • You should add a point about being able to use its pre mega bulk in order to tech certain things like Mega Gyarados, Mega Charizard Y, and Porygon-Z, although this is a little less apparent on the fast set
  • Mega Diancie's typing also causes it to lose to many common Grass-types, Steel-types, and Poison-types like Tapu Bulu, Magnezone, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Venusaur.

Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and most consistent method of dealing damage, being buoyed by STAB, high base power, and good coverage. Common threats hit hard by Moonblast include Mega Gyarados after Mega Evolving, Kommo-o, non-Choice Scarf Dragonite, and Krookodile.
  • Rock Tomb allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit Volcarona and both forms of Mega Charizard while providing an important method of Speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-scarfed Dragonite.
  • Magnet Rise can be used to beat some slow Ground-types like Donphan.
  • Diamond Storm allows for Diancie to consistently beat Meloetta.
  • Hidden Power Fire can hit foes 4x weak to it such as Ferrothorn that would otherwise wall Mega Diancie's attacks. This still loses to Ferrothorn as long as they have a good attack, so this might just be useless on this set
  • Calm Mind can additionally be run over additional coverage to beat certain stall Pokemon such as Type: Null

[SET DETAILS]
  • 248 HP EVs and 32 Def EVs ensure that Diancie is never OHKOed by Mega Gyarados's Waterfall while remaining in its base form, while also allowing for Mega Diancie after Mega Evolving to tank physical hits like 44 Attack Adamant Mega Gyarados's Waterfall without being OHKOed.
  • 24 EVs in speed ensure that Mega Diancie outspeeds 252 Speed Adamant Mega Gyarados.
  • The remaining 204 EVs are put into Mega Diancie's Special Attack to maximize its damage output, notably ensuring almost guaranteed KOs on Mega Gyarados when played correctly. A Rash Nature is used such that the damage of Rock Tomb is not reduced, as Mega Diancie's STAB moves having low Base Power causes this to be necessary.

[USAGE TIPS]
  • Against Mega Gyarados, if Mega Gyarados is running an offensive spread, then use Rock Tomb turn 1 to get chip damage and prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you at +1, then Mega Evolve turn 2 and use Moonblast for the KO.
  • If Mega Gyarados is running a bulkier spread like 44 Attack Adamant, though, then Mega Evolve immediately and use Rock Tomb turn 1, as Mega Gyarados will then be unable to OHKO you with Waterfall. Like with faster Mega Gyarados, use Moonblast turn 2 for the KO.
  • Against either form of Charizard, use Rock Tomb on the first turn to drop their speed while remaining bulky enough to tank one Solar Beam from Mega Charizard Y. On the second turn, Mega Evolve and use Rock Tomb again on the second turn for the KO if the Charizard either remained unevolved or revealed itself as Mega Charizard Y to secure the KO. If the foe reveals Mega Charizard X turn 2, their attacks will be unable to do significant enough damage to KO Mega Diancie before it whittles down Charizard's HP to 0. This is a little bit unecessary, just shorten it to don't mega evolve turn one against Charizard in case they are Mega Charizard Y so you don't die to Solar Beam
  • Against most Ground-types, Mega Evolve and click Magnet Rise turn 1 in order to evade powerful STAB attacks like Donphan's Tectonic Rage, and then repeatedly use the move that will do the most damage to the target, such as Moonblast for Donphan or Hidden Power Ice (if carrying HP Ice) for Landorus-T. This set doesn't outspeed Groundium Lando-T, but you can make a note of Flyinium if you'd like. Against Donphan you don't actually want to Moonblast immediately in case the case of Endeavor. You'd want to use Rock Tomb or your other coverage move instead Note that Mega Evolving is necessary here to ensure that Diancie outspeeds its foe and thus is able to use Magnet Rise before being hit by Ground-type attacks. However, if the opposing Pokemon is carrying Smack Down, then Magnet Rise will be immediately nullified. I wouldn't bother with Smack Down
  • Against stall Pokemon that use status moves like Confide or Leech Seed directed at Mega Diancie such as Jumpluff and Type: Null, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves.
  • Send Mega Diancie out against Pokemon that it can consistently take hits from and KO in return such as Mega Gyarados, both forms of Mega Charizard, and Kommo-o. Additionally, Mega Diancie can be sent out against speed traps such as Smeargle, Jumpluff, and Vivillon, as Mega Diancie's Magic Bounce will cause these Pokemon to be unable to fulfill their win conditions. This should be at the top, and also add a point of what not to send it into (every steel type)
  • Against Meloetta, immediately Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm if carrying it, as this will consistently beat Meloetta regardless of its set. You'd actually want to non-mega Rock Tomb turn 1, then Mega into Diamond Storms

Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and it hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat, its
  • Rock Tomb Diamond Storm allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit Volcarona and both forms of Mega Charizard while providing an important method of Speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-scarfed Dragonite. It also has a 50% chance to boost defense, allowing it to have a chance at beating some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados
  • Magnet Rise is used to beat Ground-types like Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Groundium Z Golem that Mega Diancie can outspeed. It should also be used to deny Earthquake against Dragonite, as Dragonite has no other ways of attacking except Banded Superpower, in which Diancie will have to predict and use Diamond Storm immediately
  • Hidden Power Fire can hit foes 4x weak to it such as Ferrothorn Kartana and non-Choice Scarf Genesect that would otherwise wall Mega Diancie's attacks.
  • Rock Tomb is actually still a viable move for Porygon-Z, might want to add a point in the usage tips that says to non mega rock tomb, then if they conversion non mega moonblast into mega moonblast, or if they breakneck blitz mega moonblast. Alternatively you can move this to other options

[SET DETAILS]
  • 252 Speed EVs with a speed-increasing nature ensure that Mega Diancie is able to outspeed max speed Jolly Kartana while helping with the mirror matchup against other Diancie. The mirror matchup part isn't necessary
  • 252 SpA EVs allow Mega Diancie to hit as hard as possible with its main STAB of Moonblast and coverage moves in either
  • 4 Atk EVs allow for some extra power on Mega Diancie's Diamond Storm.
  • A Naive nature is used such that Mega Diancie is able to maximize its speed without losing power on any of its attacking moves and without sacrificing an albeit unreliable chance at beating Mega Gyarados with Diamond Storm RNG.

[USAGE TIPS]

  • Against most Pokemon, simply immediately Mega Evolve and use the STAB move that will do the most damage, since this Mega Diancie set is not particularly great at taking hits.
  • As this set's EVs are not able to consistently beat Mega Gyarados, if it is encountered, immediately Mega Evolve and click Diamond Storm, as if the 50% chance for a Defense boost activates, you can KO turn 2 with Moonblast. This is not reliable, however.
  • Against Kartana, Ferrothorn, and other Pokemon 4x weak to Fire, immediately Mega Evolve and use Hidden Power Fire, as it will do the most damage in this case.
  • Against Ground-types like Landorus-Therian, Donphan, and Garchomp, immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. After this, simply use the move that will do the most damage, which is often Moonblast. Against Garchomp, you can just Moonblast turn one unless you're scared of Bulky Mega Garchomp or something. Against Donphan, you should use Diamond Storm first to prevent Endeavor.

[TEAM OPTIONS]

  • Since Bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, Pokemon that reliably beat these threats such as Mega Blaziken and Golem make good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Mega Gyarados, Kommo-o, and Donphan for these Pokemon.
  • Since Fast Mega Diancie loses to many Ground-, Water-, and Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Zygarde-C, while having an inconsistent matchup against Mega Gyarados, Pokemon that can consistently beat these threats like Mega Venusaur work well with Mega Diancie. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat non-Scarf Dragonite, Mega Charizard Y, Choice Band Garchomp, and Meloetta for Mega Venusaur. There's actually supposed to be a team options for each set, but you've done that here fine. So move the top one up and above this fast set, although you need to add a few more to both, because you want lots of things for team options. You can look at another analysis for a reference point on how many you should have
[OTHER OPTIONS]

  • On the Fast Mega Diancie set, You could feasibly do this on the Bulky Set Skill Swap and Earth Power can be used to lure and defeat non-Air Balloon Magnezone, but the two moves have little use outside of this. Skill Swap can also beat non-Choice Band Zeraora by taking its Volt Absorb, steal Mega Gardevoir's Pixilate (for fast set), and take Clefable's Unaware, using it against it. It can also steal Crustle's Sturdy in the abscence of Rock Tomb.
  • Sharpen can be used to attempt to beat stall Pokemon like Deoxys-S Kee Beery Mew, but it is outclassed I wouldn't call it outclassed because Calm Mind's special defense boost is unexplored, maybe "has competition with" by Calm Mind due to the latter being able to consistently defeat Type: Null, as Type: Null has no way to boost its own Special Defense.
  • Calm Mind can be run on the Fast Mega Diancie set over Hidden Power Fire to stallbreak in a similar manner to the Slow Mega Diancie set not really explored, Slow Diancie just doesn't always run Diamond Storm which is why Sharpen isn't mentioned, but this loses the important matchup against Kartana.

[CHECKS AND COUNTERS]
Steel-type attackers: Steel-types like Heatran, Genesect carrying Flash Cannon, Magnezone, Mega Metagross, and Celesteela are able to tank any of Mega Diancie's moves and KO Mega Diancie back with their STAB moves, exploiting Mega Diancie's crippling 4x weakness to Steel.
Faster Pokemon carrying Steel-type coverage moves. Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed and OHKO Diancie with their quadruple-effective coverage moves.
Ground-types that can ignore Magnet Rise. Pokemon such as Smack Down Donphan You can predict this with Rock Tomb, but I wouldn't stress about Smack Down Donphan in general and Zygarde-Complete can ignore Magnet Rise and KO Mega Diancie with their powerful STAB moves. Zygarde Complete is a 50/50 between Moonblast against Thousand Arrows and Magnet Rise against Tectonic Rage
Strong special attackers that Mega Diancie does not resist the attacks of. Due to being forced to run a Rash nature, Mega Diancie's special bulk is diminished. This can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z Rock Tomb actually wins PZ for you, now that I think of it you could add that into set details.
Offensive Grass- and Water-types. Pokemon like Tapu Bulu, Greninja, and Primarina can OHKO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves while Mega Diancie is either unable to significantly damage them in return or is unable to outspeed them.

So does that count as a QC? I'm a bit confused
Will make those changes though.
No, it does not count as an official QC, because I am not an official member of the Quality Control team. It is generally however a good idea to implement whatever you agree with. It's like a QC but not made by a registered professional, so it's helpful but doesn't count to the requirement.

Instead of talking about one set, make this more focused on the 'can't do everything at once' aspect that you're basically trying to say. Also include that you can cheese this with speedy wtih a Diamond Storm boost. This causes it to be unable to simultaneously beat Mega Gyarados and faster threats like Kartana and Garchomp.
  • Mega Diancie's typing also causes it to lose to many common Grass-types and Steel-types like Tapu Bulu, Magnezone, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Venusaur.

also gives you 263 speed for base 70s after mega evolving (although this is a very small benefit, just slightly better than the nothing gained by putting 4 evs anywhere else, including against mgyara)

Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and most consistent method of dealing damage, being buoyed by STAB, high base power, and good coverage. Common threats hit hard by Moonblast include Mega Gyarados after Mega Evolving, Kommo-o, non-Choice Scarf item Dragonite, and Krookodile.
  • Calm Mind can additionally be run over additional coverage to beat certain stall Pokemon such as Type: Null

Set Details
========
  • 248 HP EVs and 32 Def EVs 224 HP EVs and 52 Defense EVs ensure that Diancie is never OHKOed by Mega Gyarados's Waterfall while remaining in its base form, while also allowing for Mega Diancie after Mega Evolving to tank physical hits like 44 Attack from bulky Adamant Mega Gyarados's Waterfall without being OHKOed. switch reasoning - the main reason is so it has a good chance of living against bulky mega gyarados, the side benefit is that you live very comfortably in base form
  • 24 28 EVs in speed ensure that Mega Diancie outspeeds 252 Speed Adamant Mega Gyarados, as well as outspeed base 70 Speed Pokemon after mega evolving.

Usage Tips
=========
  • Against Mega Gyarados, if you predict Mega Gyarados is running an offensive spread, then use Rock Tomb turn 1 to get chip damage and prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you at +1, then Mega Evolve turn 2 and use Moonblast for the KO.
  • If Mega Gyarados is running a bulkier spread like 44 Attack Adamant, though, then Mega Evolve immediately and use Rock Tomb turn 1, as Mega Gyarados will then be unable to OHKO you with Waterfall. Like with faster Mega Gyarados, use Moonblast turn 2 for the KO. make this the first point, as bulkier is the better evs almost every time, also mention bulky gyarados will be the most common
  • Against either form of Charizard, use Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm if you are running it and refrain from Mega Evolving turn 1 to ensure the win even if the Charizard is Mega Charizard Y, as Mega Evolving would cause Mega Diancie to be OHKOed by Solar Beam.
  • Against Ground-types you can't immediately knock out, like Donphan or bulky Landorus-T, Mega Evolve and click Magnet Rise turn 1 in order to evade powerful STAB attacks like Tectonic Rage or Earthquake. For Donphan in particular, and then use either Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm turn 2 to prevent losing to Endeavor Donphan. After this, use Moonblast repeatedly to ensure the win.
  • Against stall Pokemon that use status moves like Confide or Leech Seed or Toxic directed at Mega Diancie such as Jumpluff and Chansey, and Type: Null you'll want to not mega, clear body will prevent stat drops, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves.
  • mention that against Pokemon that can use stat dropping techniques, like Snarl Mega Sableye or Confide Type: Null, to not mega evolve and use Calm Mind in order to boost enough to KO them, so you can stay slightly bulkier
  • Against Meloetta, use Rock Tomb without Mega Evolving, then Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm if running it turn 2 to maximize the chances of winning. can you do anything if you are not running diamond storm?

  • Since Bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, Pokemon that reliably beat these threats such as Mega Blaziken and Golem make good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Mega Gyarados, Kommo-o, and Donphan for these Pokemon.
  • Since Bulky Mega Diancie struggles against Water-types other than Mega Gyarados such as? also a 50/50 is still a struggling mu, Electric- and Grass-types like Zeraora and Serperior make good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Flyinium Z Dragonite and both forms of Mega Charizard for Serperior and Donphan and Whimsicott for Zeraora.
  • If not running Calm Mind, Mega Diancie struggles to break through stall Pokemon like Stall Deoxys-Speed, Type: Null, and Kee Berry Mew. This makes stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Donphan, Golem, and special Dragonite for Incineroar, and can beat non-scarf Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, and Whimsicott for Kommo-o.

Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and it hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat, its ???
  • Diamond Storm allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit Volcarona and both forms of Mega Charizard while allowing it a chance to beat some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados due to the move's 50% chance to raise Defense by two stages.
  • Magnet Rise is used to beat Ground-types like Landorus-T, Garchomp you would just immediately moonblast, and Groundium Z Golem that Mega Diancie can outspeed. It also allows for Mega Diancie to evade Dragonite's Earthquake, thus allowing it to win against most variants of Dragonite. no this isn't rlly the case, flyinium physical would win with mind games with ddance into flyinium after mega evolution. Maybe instead say 'against physical Dragonium variants', thats the only one where magnet rise applies and which cannot KO you if you use it.
  • Hidden Power Fire can hit foes 4x weak to it such as Kartana and non-Choice Scarf Genesect that would otherwise wall Mega Diancie's attacks.
  • Rock Tomb allows for Mega Diancie to consistently beat Porygon-Z with this set, as well as beat non-Choice Item Dragonite.

Set Details
========
  • 252 Speed EVs with a speed-increasing nature ensure that Mega Diancie is able to outspeed max speed Jolly Kartana.
  • 252 SpA EVs allow Mega Diancie to hit as hard as possible with its main STAB of Moonblast.
  • make 68 HP / 208 SpA / 232 Spe Naive nature the evs run if you run Rock Tomb - they let you tank an Earthquake from a max Attack Dragonite in reg form and then an Espeed after you mega evolve

Usage Tips
=========
  • Against most Pokemon, simply immediately Mega Evolve and use the STAB move that will do the most damage, since this Mega Diancie set is not particularly great at taking hits. obvious
  • As this set's EVs are not able to consistently beat Mega Gyarados, if it is encountered, immediately Mega Evolve and click Diamond Storm, as if the 50% chance for a Defense boost activates, you can KO turn 2 with Moonblast. This is not reliable, however.
  • Against Kartana, Ferrothorn, and other Pokemon 4x weak to Fire, immediately Mega Evolve and use Hidden Power Fire, as it will do the most damage in this case. obvious
  • Against most Ground-types, like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian and Garchomp, immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. After this, simply use the move that will do the most damage, which is often Moonblast.
  • Against Donphan, after using Magnet Rise, use Diamond Storm first to avoid losing to Endeavor. This will be unnecessary if they use Head Smash, however.
  • Against Zygarde-Complete its not in complete form when you start, immediately Mega Evolve. If predicting Thousand Arrows, use Moonblast to 2HKO, but if predicting Tectonic Rage, use Magnet Rise to avoid being OHKOed.
  • Against Porygon-Z and non-Choice Item Dragonite, Mega Diancie can win if running Rock Tomb. After using Rock Tomb turn 1 without Mega Evolving against Porygon-Z, the play depends on what Porygon-Z does. If Porygon-Z uses Breakneck Blitz, then a non-Mega Evolved Moonblast into a Mega Evolved mega evolving anc clicking Moonblast wins the matchup, while if Porygon-Z uses Z-Conversion, then a Mega Evolved Moonblast turn 2 wins the matchup. non-Mega Evolved Moonblast into a Mega Evolved Moonblast wins the matchup. you mixed up which was for which. Against Dragonite, just Rock Tomb into a mega evolved Moonblast to secure a KO, assuming you're running the correct EVs.

Team Options
==========
  • Since Fast Mega Diancie loses to many Water-, and Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Zygarde-C, while having an inconsistent matchup against Mega Gyarados, Pokemon that can consistently beat these threats like Mega Venusaur work well with Mega Diancie. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat non-Scarf Choice Item Dragonite, Mega Charizard Y, Choice Band Garchomp all garchomp threatens venu, and Meloetta for Mega Venusaur.
  • Aegislash synergizes well with Mega Diancie, as it can beat Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, Primarina, and Tapu Bulu, all of which Mega Diancie struggles with. Mega Diancie can in return beat Fire- and Ground-types like both forms of Mega Charizard, Victini, Garchomp, and non-Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian.
  • Since Mega Diancie struggles against strong special attackers like Tapu Lele, Primarina, and Mega Gardevoir, specially defensive Pokemon like Meloetta that can beat these Pokemon make good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Dark-types like Scrafty, Mega Sableye, and Incineroar for Meloetta.

Other Options
===========
  • On either Mega Diancie set, Skill Swap and Earth Power can be used to lure and defeat non-Air Balloon Magnezone. This can also be used to wall Zeraora with its own Volt Absorb, to Remove Mega Gardevoir's Pixilate if running Fast Mega Diancie, or to steal Clefable's own Unaware to use it against it. Skill Swap can also be used to steal Crustle's Sturdy when not running Rock Tomb.
  • Sharpen can be used to attempt to beat stall Pokemon like Kee Berry Mew, but it faces heavy competition from Calm Mind due to the latter being able to consistently defeat Type: Null, as Type: Null has no way to boost its own Special Defense.
  • Calm Mind or Sharpen can be run on the Fast Mega Diancie set over Hidden Power Fire to stallbreak in a similar manner to the Slow Mega Diancie set, in order to benefit against Type: Null and Mega Sableye but this loses the important matchup against Kartana. I would actually move mention calm mind on the offensive set - thats basically when you mention a move in the moves section without putting it on the set itself, for moves that can work in the set but somewhat awkwardly. Then you can just remove sharpen in here since you mention it already above

Checks and Counters
=================

**Steel-type attackers**: Steel-types like Heatran, Genesect carrying Flash Cannon, Magnezone, Mega Metagross, and Celesteela are able to tank any of Mega Diancie's moves and KO Mega Diancie back with their STAB moves, exploiting Mega Diancie's crippling 4x weakness to Steel.

**Faster Pokemon carrying Steel-type coverage moves**: Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed and OHKO Diancie with their quadruple-effective coverage moves.

**Ground-types that can ignore Magnet Rise**: Pokemon such as Smack Down Donphan and Zygarde-Complete can ignore Magnet Rise and KO Mega Diancie with their powerful STAB moves.

**Strong special attackers** Due to being forced to run a Rash nature, Mega Diancie's special bulk is diminished. This can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z, although Mega Diancie has ways to mitigate this, like with Skill Swap and Rock Tomb.

**Offensive Grass- and Water-types**: Pokemon like Tapu Bulu, Greninja, and Primarina can OHKO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves while Mega Diancie is either unable to significantly damage them in return or is unable to outspeed them.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Mega Diancie is a good anti-metagame Pokemon in the 1v1 metagame with its unique Rock/Fairy typing that, in combination with its good Speed tier in Mega form, allows it to reliably beat tier staples such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Charizard Y, and Mega Gyarados, while serving as a good check against the omnipresent Dragonite, only fearing sets carrying Iron Head such as Choice Scarf Choice Item Dragonite.
  • Diancie's pre-Mega ability Clear Body nullifies the effects of Intimidate users like Mega Gyarados and Incineroar, this won't really matter, even against the bulkiest incineroar two moonblasts will do the job, or a diamond storm into moonblast will win while its mega evolved ability Magic Bounce blocks Diancie from status moves directed at it, ensuring wins against certain stall Pokemon like Jumpluff and Whimsicott and speed traps like Vivillon and Smeargle.
  • Mega Diancie's excellent bulk prior to Mega Evolution allows it to delay Mega Evolution to beat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Porygon-Z, and Mega Gyarados.
  • Mega Diancie's EVs are stretched thin, however, causing it to be unable to simultaneously bulk to beat Mega Gyarados consistently without forgoing enough investment in speed to beat and outspeed many fast offensive Pokemon such as Garchomp, Kartana, and Durant. Because you said 'you are unable to simultaneously' following it up with 'without forgoing enough investment' is not necessary. It can probably be polished a bit more but GP can do that This causes it to be unable to simultaneously beat Mega Gyarados and these faster threats like Kartana, Durant, and Garchomp.
  • Mega Diancie's typing also causes it to lose to many common Grass-types and Steel-types, and specially offensive Water-types like Tapu Bulu, Magnezone, Heatran, Ferrothorn, and Mega Venusaur. add primafini

  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and most consistent method of dealing damage, being buoyed by STAB, high base power, and good coverage. Common threats hit hard by Moonblast include Mega Gyarados after Mega Evolving, Kommo-o, non-Choice item Dragonite, and Krookodile.
  • Rock Tomb allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit Volcarona and both forms of Mega Charizard while providing an important method of Speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-Choiced scarfed Dragonite. band too
  • Magnet Rise can be used to beat some slow Ground-types like Donphan.
  • Diamond Storm allows for Diancie to consistently beat Meloetta.
  • Calm Mind can additionally be run over additional coverage to beat certain stall Pokemon such as Type: Null. i'd give more examples for this and the two above points, not very convincing to run these moves otherwise.

Set Details
========
  • 224 HP EVs and 52 Defense EVs allow for Mega Diancie to tank physical hits like bulky Adamant Mega Gyarados's Waterfall without being OHKOed while additionally ensuring that Diancie is never OHKOed by Max Attack Mega Gyarados's Waterfall while remaining in its base form.
  • 28 EVs in speed ensure that Mega Diancie outspeeds 252 Speed Adamant Mega Gyarados, as well as outspeed base 70 Speed Pokemon after mega evolving.
  • The remaining 204 EVs are put into Mega Diancie's Special Attack to maximize its damage output, notably ensuring almost guaranteed KOs on bulky Mega Gyarados when played correctly. A Rash Nature is used such that the damage of Rock Tomb is not reduced, as Mega Diancie's STAB moves having low Base Power causes this to be necessary.

Usage Tips
=========
  • If you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a bulkier spread, then Mega Evolve immediately and use Rock Tomb turn 1, as Mega Gyarados will then be unable to OHKO you with Waterfall. After this, simply use Moonblast turn 2 for the KO. Note that most Mega Gyarados run bulkier spreads, so if you are unsure about what the opponent's spread is, this is the safest option.
  • However, if you predict Mega Gyarados is running a more offensive spread, then do not Mega Evolve and use Rock Tomb turn 1 to get chip damage and prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you at +1, then Mega Evolve turn 2 and use Moonblast for the KO.
  • Against either form of Charizard, use Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm if you are running it and refrain from Mega Evolving turn 1 to ensure the win, as Mega Evolving would cause Mega Diancie to be OHKOed by Solar Beam from Mega Charizard Y.
  • Against Ground-types you can't immediately knock out, like Donphan or bulky Landorus-T, Mega Evolve and click Magnet Rise turn 1 in order to evade powerful STAB attacks like Tectonic Rage or Earthquake. For Donphan in particular, use either Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm turn 2 to prevent losing to Endeavor Donphan, unless they have already broken Sturdy with Head Smash. After this, use Moonblast repeatedly to ensure the win.
  • Against speed trap or stall Pokemon that use status moves such as Leech Seed, Spore, Sleep Powder, or Toxic such as Jumpluff, Smeargle, Vivillon, and Chansey, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves. i'd say the first three are speed traps so
  • Against Pokemon that can use stat dropping techniques like Snarl Mega Sableye and in this scenario you'd just mega and ko Confide Type: Null, refrain from Mega Evolving and instead use Calm Mind in order to acquire sufficient boosts to KO them while remaining slightly bulkier.
  • Against Meloetta, use Diamond Storm without Mega Evolving, then Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm when you are in range of being KOed to secure the win. If not running Diamond Storm, then refrain from sending Mega Diancie out against Meloetta, as it will have a losing matchup.
Team Options

  • Since Bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, Pokemon that reliably beat these threats such as Fire- or Fighting-types like the Mega Charizards and Mega Blaziken and Ground-type Pokemon like Golem make good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Mega Gyarados, Kommo-o, and Donphan for these Pokemon.
  • Since Bulky Mega Diancie struggles against Water-types such as Primarina, Tapu Fini, and Manaphy, Electric- and Grass-types like Zeraora and Serperior make good partners. Zeraora also has an excellent matchup against most of the aforementioned Steel-types that threaten Mega Diancie.

Moves
========
  • Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and it hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat.
  • Diamond Storm allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit Fire-types like Volcarona and both forms of Mega Charizard while allowing it a chance to beat some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados due to the move's 50% chance to raise Defense by two stages.
  • Magnet Rise is used to beat Ground-types like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Donphan that Mega Diancie can outspeed. It also allows for Mega Diancie to evade Earthquake from Physical Dragonium variants of Dragonite.
  • Hidden Power Fire can hit foes 4x weak to it such as Kartana and non-Choice Scarf Genesect that would otherwise wall Mega Diancie's attacks.
  • Rock Tomb allows for Mega Diancie to consistently beat Porygon-Z with this set, as well as beat non-Choice Item Dragonite and bulky Mega Gyarados.
  • Calm Mind can be used to beat Type: Null and Snarl Mega Sableye already beats with moonblast in a similar manner to the Bulky Offense set, but this loses the important matchup against Kartana and is rarely useful outside of these matchups.

Set Details
========
  • 252 Speed EVs with a speed-increasing nature ensure that Mega Diancie is able to outspeed max speed Jolly Kartana.
  • 252 SpA EVs allow Mega Diancie to hit as hard as possible with its main STAB of Moonblast.
  • 4 Atk EVs allow for some extra power on Mega Diancie's Diamond Storm.
  • A Naive nature is used such that Mega Diancie is able to maximize its speed without losing power on Diamond Storm and Rock Tomb to preserve the albeit unreliable chance at beating Mega Gyarados with Diamond Storm RNG.
  • If running Rock Tomb, use an alternative spread of 68 HP / 208 SpA / 232 Spe with a Naive nature to ensure that you tank an Earthquake from a maximum Attack Dragonite in base form in addition to an Extreme Speed after Mega Evolving.

Usage Tips
=========
  • Against most Ground-types, like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian and Garchomp, just ko with moonblast immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. After this, simply use the move that will do the most damage, which is often Moonblast.
  • Against Donphan, after using Magnet Rise, use Diamond Storm first to avoid losing to Endeavor. This will be unnecessary if they use Head Smash, however.
  • Against Zygarde, immediately Mega Evolve. If predicting Tectonic Rage, use Magnet Rise to avoid being OHKOed, but if predicting Thousand Arrows, use Moonblast to 2HKO, although against bulky Zygarde, Moonblast will have sometimes OHKO, easing the pressure of the 50/50.
  • Against Porygon-Z, bulky Mega Gyarados, and non-Choice Item Dragonite, Mega Diancie can win if running Rock Tomb. After using Rock Tomb turn 1 without Mega Evolving against Porygon-Z, the play depends on what Porygon-Z does. If Porygon-Z uses Breakneck Blitz, then mega evolving and clicking Moonblast wins the matchup, while if Porygon-Z uses Z-Conversion, then a non-Mega Evolved Moonblast into a Mega Evolved Moonblast wins the matchup. Against Dragonite, just Rock Tomb into a mega evolved Moonblast to secure a KO, assuming you're running the correct EVs. A non-Mega Evolved Rock Tomb turn 1 against Bulky Mega Gyarados followed by a Mega Evolution and usage of Moonblast turn 2 will almost always win.
  • If you encounter an offensive Mega Gyarados, you should immediately Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm, as if the 50% chance for a defense boost activates, you will win with Moonblast. However, this 50/50 is extremely unreliable, unlike as against Bulky Mega Gyarados.
Team Options
==========
  • Since Fast Mega Diancie loses to many Water-, and Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Primarina, while having an inconsistent matchup against Mega Gyarados and Zygarde, Pokemon that can consistently beat these threats like Mega Venusaur work well with Mega Diancie. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat non-Choice Item Dragonite, Mega Charizard Y, Garchomp, and Meloetta for Mega Venusaur.
  • Steel-types with good Water-type matchups like Kartana and specially defensive tanks like Meloetta synergize well with Mega Diancie, as they can beat Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, and Primarina, all of which Mega Diancie struggles with. Mega Diancie can in return beat Fire-types like both forms of Mega Charizard, Victini, and Mega Blaziken for Kartana and Dark-types like Scrafty, Incineroar, and Mega Sableye for Meloetta.
  • can you give like one more example

Other Options
===========

Checks and Counters
=================

**Faster Pokemon carrying Steel-type coverage moves**: Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed and OHKO Diancie with their quadruple-effective coverage moves. can you paraphrase the bolded a little

**Ground-types that can ignore Magnet Rise**: Pokemon such as Smack Down Donphan and Zygarde-Complete can ignore Magnet Rise and KO Mega Diancie with their powerful STAB moves. add fast ground types too since this isnt a really big point

**Offensive Grass- and Water-types**: Pokemon like Tapu Bulu, Greninja, and Primarina can OHKO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves while Mega Diancie is either unable to significantly damage them in return or is unable to outspeed them.

right here, you should explain that diancie is more of a selective pokemon that is mainly best used against a solid handful of the most viable mons, rather than being used more liberally against near everything. Against most Ground-types, like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian, immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. A non-Mega Evolved Rock Tomb turn 1 against Bulky Mega Gyarados followed by a Mega Evolution and usage of Moonblast turn 2 will almost always win. If you encounter an offensive Mega Gyarados, you should immediately Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm, as if the 50% chance for a defense boost activates, you will win with Moonblast. **Fast Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Landorus-Incarnate, Garchomp, and Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian can outspeed and KO bulkier Mega Diancie with their powerful STAB moves, and although fast Mega Diancie is capable of outspeeding Garchomp, it still loses to Choice Scarf variants. this could afford to be broadened up into Ground types in general, including the likes of Rockium Golem, Mega Swampert, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Quagsire

**Strong special attackers** Due to being forced to run a Rash nature, Mega Diancie's special bulk is diminished. Mega Diancie's excellent bulk prior to Mega Evolution allows it to delay Mega Evolution to beat Pokemon such as Mega Charizard Y, Porygon-Z, and Mega Gyarados. Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and it hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat. Diamond Storm allows Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB to hit is a secondary STAB attack that hits Fire-types like Volcarona and both formes of Mega Charizard, (AC) while allowing it giving Mega Diancie a chance to beat some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados due to the move's 50% chance to raise Defense by two stages. Magnet Rise is used to beat Ground-types like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-T and Donphan that Mega Diancie can outspeeds. It also allows for Mega Diancie to evade Earthquake from physical Dragonium Z variants of Dragonite. Hidden Power Fire can hit hits foes 4x weak to it such as Kartana and non-Choice Scarf Genesect that would otherwise wall ("wall" seems too strong a word here, as the targets you mentioned aren't that bulky; what about "survive a hit from Mega Diancie and KO it in return"?) Mega Diancie's attacks. Rock Tomb allows for Mega Diancie to consistently beat Porygon-Z with this set (RC) as well as beat non-Choice item Dragonite and bulky Mega Gyarados. Calm Mind can be used to beat Type: Null in a similar manner to the Bulky Offense set (don't cross-reference sets), but this is rarely useful outside of this matchup (moved; otherwise, "this matchup" could refer to the kartana matchup) and loses causes Mega Diancie to lose the important matchup against Kartana and is rarely useful outside of this matchup.

Mega Diancie should be mainly be used against prominent metagame threats like non-Choiced non-Choice item Dragonite, both formes of Mega Charizard, Kommo-o, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta that it can reliably beat, as opposed to against the metagame in general as a catch-all (what does this mean?). Against most Ground-types, like non-Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian Landorus-T, immediately Mega Evolve and use Magnet Rise so as to avoid their powerful Ground-type STAB moves. After this, simply use the move that will do the most damage to them, which is often Moonblast. However, against Garchomp, simply Mega Evolve immediately and (repetition) use Moonblast immediately to OHKO it, as this will OHKO Garchomp. Against Donphan, after using Magnet Rise, use Diamond Storm first to avoid losing to Endeavor sets. This will be unnecessary if they use Head Smash, however (so what should be done instead in this case?). Against Zygarde, immediately Mega Evolve. (repetition) if predicting Tectonic Rage to be used, Mega Diancie should use Magnet Rise to avoid being OHKOed, but if predicting Thousand Arrows to be used, Mega Diancie should use Moonblast to 2HKO Zygarde; (semicolon) although note that against bulky Zygarde, Moonblast will have sometimes OHKO, Moonblast sometimes OHKOes (non-?)bulky Zygarde, easing the pressure of the 50/50. Against Porygon-Z, bulky Mega Gyarados, and non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Diancie can win if running Rock Tomb. After using Rock Tomb turn 1 one without Mega Evolving against Porygon-Z, the play depends on what Porygon-Z does has done. If Porygon-Z uses has used Breakneck Blitz, then Mega Evolving and clicking using Moonblast wins the matchup, while if Porygon-Z uses has used Z-Conversion, then a non-Mega Evolved Moonblast not Mega Evolving and using Moonblast into a Mega Evolved Moonblast Mega Evolving and using Moonblast wins the matchup. Against Dragonite, just use Rock Tomb into a mega evolved Moonblast then Mega Evolve and use Moonblast to secure a the KO, assuming you're running the correct EVs (what are "the correct evs"???). Against bulky Mega Gyarados, (moved for clarity/consistency) A non-Mega Evolved Rock Tomb not Mega Evolving and using Rock Tomb turn 1 one against Bulky Mega Gyarados followed by a Mega Evolution and usage of Mega Evolving and using Moonblast turn 2 two will almost always let Mega Diancie win. If you encounter an offensive Mega Gyarados, you Diancie should immediately Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm, as if the 50% chance for a Defense boost activates, you it will win with Moonblast. However, this 50/50 is situation makes the matchup extremely unreliable, unlike as against with bulky Mega Gyarados.

Since fast Mega Diancie loses to many Water- (RC) and Grass-type Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu, (moved to match type order) Tapu Fini, Primarina, and Tapu Bulu while having and has an inconsistent matchup against Mega Gyarados and Zygarde, Pokemon that can consistently beat these threats like Mega Venusaur work well with Mega Diancie it. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat non-Choice item Dragonite, Mega Charizard Y, Garchomp, and Meloetta for Mega Venusaur. Steel-types with good matchups against Water-types matchups like Kartana and specially defensive tanks like Meloetta synergize well with Mega Diancie, as they can beat Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, Tapu Fini, and Primarina, all of which Mega Diancie struggles with. Mega Diancie can, (AC) in return, (AC) beat Fire-types like both formes of Mega Charizard, Victini, and Mega Blaziken for Kartana and Dark-types like Scrafty, Incineroar, and Mega Sableye for Meloetta. Fast Mega Diancie's general weakness to speedier (word repetition) offensive Pokemon faster than it such as Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian, Choice Specs Deoxys-Speed, and Zeraora means that stall Pokemon capable of taking hits from those often-choiced Pokemon them (by saying "choice scarf landorus-t" you already qualified it as choiced), such as Type: Null and Kee Berry Mew, make for good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat speed traps like Jumpluff and Vivillon and certain stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o that these Pokemon struggle with.

Moves

Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and most consistent method of dealing damage, being buoyed by STAB, high base power, and good coverage. Common threats hit hard by Moonblast include (filler) and hits Mega Gyarados after Mega Evolving (redundant), Kommo-o, non-Choice item (moonblast hits dragonite regardless of whether you win the matchup) Dragonite, and Krookodile hard. Rock Tomb allows gives Mega Diancie to take advantage of its other STAB a secondary STAB attack to hit Volcarona and both formes of Mega Charizard while providing an important method of speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-Choiced non-Choice item Dragonite. Magnet Rise can be used ("can be used" is what you'd say for non-primary slashed options or stuff in oo) allows Mega Diancie to beat some slow Ground-types like Groundium Z Donphan, Groundium Z Golem, and Mega Camerupt. Diamond Storm allows for Mega Diancie to consistently beat some specially bulky Pokemon like Meloetta and Togekiss. Calm Mind can additionally be run over additional coverage Diamond Storm to beat certain stall Pokemon such as Type: Null, non-Amnesia Kee Berry Mew, and Porygon2.

Set Details
========

224 HP EVs and 52 Defense EVs allow for Mega Diancie to tank physical hits like bulky Adamant (when you say "bulky" aren't you already referring to a specific set with known nature/evs?) Mega Gyarados's Waterfall without being OHKOed while additionally ensuring that Diancie is never OHKOed by Max Attack Mega Gyarados's Waterfall while remaining in its base form in its Mega forme and maximum Attack Mega Gyarados's Waterfall in its base forme. 28 Speed EVs in speed ensure that Mega Diancie outspeeds 252 maximum Speed Adamant Mega Gyarados (RC) as well as outspeed base 70 Speed Pokemon after Mega Evolving. The remaining 204 EVs are put into Mega Diancie's Special Attack to maximize its Mega Diancie's damage output, notably ensuring almost guaranteed KOs guaranteeing the KO on bulky Mega Gyarados when Mega Diancie is played correctly. A Rash nature is used such so that the damage output of Rock Tomb is not reduced, as Mega Diancie's STAB moves having its low Base Power causes this to be necessary.

Usage Tips
=========

If you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a bulkier bulky spread, then Mega Evolve immediately and use Rock Tomb turn 1 one, as Mega Gyarados will then be unable to OHKO you Mega Diancie with Waterfall. After this, simply use Moonblast turn 2 two for the KO. Note that most Mega Gyarados run bulkier bulky spreads, so if you are unsure about what the opponent's foe's spread is, this is the safest option. However, if you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a more offensive spread, then do not Mega Evolve and use Rock Tomb turn 1 one to get chip damage and to prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you at +1 if it uses Dragon Dance (it won't be at +1 if you use rock tomb), then Mega Evolve turn 2 two and use Moonblast for the KO. Against either forme of Mega Charizard, use Rock Tomb or (moved to avoid ambiguity) Diamond Storm if you are running it or Rock Tomb and refrain from Mega Evolving turn 1 one to ensure the win, as Mega Evolving would will cause Mega Diancie to be (optional: insert "outsped and" to remind the reader that zard y outspeeds this set) OHKOed by Solar Beam from Mega Charizard Y. Against Ground-types you Mega Diancie can't immediately knock out KO, like Donphan or and bulky Landorus-T, Mega Evolve and click Magnet Rise turn 1 one in order to evade their powerful STAB attacks like Tectonic Rage or and Earthquake. Note, (AC) however, (AC) that Landorus-T can potentially use Rock Tomb followed by repeated uses of Substitute to stall out Mega Diancie's Magnet Rise turns before outspeeding and KOing it with its Ground-type moves, so if you suspect this play to come out, it is better to remain non-Mega-Evolved the first turn so as to avoid the Speed drop from Rock Tomb with Clear Body. Against Donphan in particular, use either Rock Tomb or Diamond Storm turn 2 two to prevent avoid losing to Endeavor Donphan sets, unless they have it has already broken its Sturdy with Head Smash. After this, use Moonblast repeatedly to ensure the win. Against speed trap or and stall Pokemon that use status moves such as Leech Seed, Spore, Sleep Powder, or and Toxic such as Jumpluff, Smeargle, Vivillon, and Chansey, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves. Against Meloetta, first use Diamond Storm without Mega Evolving until Mega Diancie is in range of being KOed (moved for clarity), then Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm when you are in range of being KOed to secure the win. If not running Diamond Storm, then refrain from sending Mega Diancie out against Meloetta, as it will have a losing matchup.

Team Options
==========
Since bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, (do you need this many examples?) Pokemon that reliably beat these threats, (AC) such as Fire- or and Fighting-types like the Mega Charizards Charizard formes and Mega Blaziken, (AC) and Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, (AC) make for good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Flyinium Z Dragonite and both formes of Mega Charizard for Serperior, (AC) and Donphan and Whimsicott for Zeraora. If not running Calm Mind, Mega Diancie struggles to break through stall Pokemon like Stall (redundant) Deoxys-Speed, Type: Null, and Kee Berry Mew. This makes stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Donphan, Golem, and special Dragonite for Incineroar, and can beat non-scarf non-Choice Scarf (shouldn't this be "non-Choice item"?) Dragonite, Mega Charizard X, and Whimsicott for Kommo-o.

On either Mega Diancie set, Skill Swap and can be used with Earth Power can be used to lure and defeat non-Air Balloon Magnezone. This It can also be used to let Mega Diancie wall Zeraora with its own Volt Absorb ability, to remove Mega Gardevoir's Pixilate if running fast Mega Diancie, or to steal Clefable's own Unaware to use it against it, (AC) and Skill Swap can also be used and to steal Crustle's Sturdy when not running Rock Tomb.

Checks and Counters
=================

**Steel-type Attackers and Steel-type Coverage**: Steel-types like Heatran, Genesect carrying Flash Cannon (tran also sometimes doesn't run flash cannon, but you didn't specify this for tran; either remove this or specify it for tran too ie. "Heatran and Genesect carrying Flash Cannon"), Magnezone, Mega Metagross, and Celesteela are able to tank any of Mega Diancie's moves (do you want to mention hp fire ohkoing genesect?) and (OH?)KO Mega Diancie back with their STAB moves, exploiting Mega Diancie's its crippling 4x weakness to Steel. Additionally, Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed and OHKO Mega Diancie with their quadruple-effective (repetition) Steel-type coverage moves such as Iron Head (and Iron Tail?).

**Ground-types**: Many Ground-types such as Landorus-Incarnate, Garchomp, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Choice Scarf Landorus-Therian can outspeed and KO bulkier bulky Mega Diancie with their powerful STAB moves. Additionally, Mega Diancie's access to Magnet Rise can potentially neutralize some of these Pokemon, (moved so it's clearer why it matters that the following mons can hit it w/o ground moves) but some bulkier bulky Ground-types like Rockium Z Golem and Mega Swampert can take advantage of their other STAB options to still hit Mega Diancie hard, while Quagsire can make use of Z-Stockpile and Recover to set up before whittling away at Mega Diancie's health with Scald (why does quag warrant its own explanation? i think you should delete this part and incorporate quag into the list w/ the other grounds: "bulky Ground-types like Rockium Z Golem, Mega Swampert, and Quagsire ..."). However, Mega Diancie's access to Magnet Rise can potentially neutralize some of these Pokemon.

**Strong Special Attackers**: Due to being forced to run a Naive or Rash nature, Mega Diancie's special bulk is diminished. This can be taken advantage of by Pokemon such as Mega Gardevoir, Tapu Lele, and Normalium Z Porygon-Z, although Mega Diancie has ways to mitigate this, like with Skill Swap against (what Pokemon?) and Rock Tomb against (what Pokemon?).

**Offensive Grass- and Water-types**: Pokemon like Tapu Bulu, Greninja, and Primarina can OHKO Mega Diancie with their STAB moves, (AC) while Mega Diancie is either unable to significantly damage them in return or is unable to outspeed them.

**Walls**: Pokemon with extremely high defensive stats such as Mega Slowbro, Clefable, Registeel, Kee Berry Mew, and Stored Power Necrozma can simply (get rid of either this or "mostly") render Mega Diancie's attacks mostly ineffective, allowing those these Pokemon to beat Mega Diancie with their own moves before Mega Diancie it can significantly damage them in return.

Moves

Moonblast is Mega Diancie's main STAB move and hits extremely hard due to Mega Diancie's high Special Attack stat. Diamond Storm is a secondary STAB attack that hits Fire-types like Volcarona and both formes of Mega Charizard X and Y (RC) while giving Mega Diancie a chance to beat some physical attackers such as Mega Gyarados due to the move's 50% chance to raise Defense by two stages.

Set Details

Maximum Speed investment with a Speed-boosting nature ensures that Mega Diancie is able to outspeed Kartana. Maximum Special Attack investment allows Mega Diancie to hit as hard as possible with Moonblast. 4 Attack EVs allow for grant some extra power on Mega Diancie's Diamond Storm. A Naive nature is used so that Mega Diancie doesn't lose power on Diamond Storm or Rock Tomb and has a better chance to beat Mega Gyarados if it gets Defense boosts from Diamond Storm.

If running Rock Tomb, use an alternative EV spread of 68 HP / 208 SpA / 232 Spe with a Naive nature to ensure that Diancie beats maximum Attack Dragonite by tanking tanks Earthquake in its base forme in addition to Extreme Speed after Mega Evolving from maximum Attack Dragonite.

(repetitive structure, readability, might've been slightly too liberal here) Against Dragonite, just use Rock Tomb, (AC) then and Mega Evolve and use Moonblast to secure the KO, assuming you're running the alternative EV spread to ensure that you Diancie can tank Dragonite's attacks. However, this 50/50 coinflip situation makes the matchup extremely unreliable, unlike with bulky Mega Gyarados.

Calm Mind can be used to beat Type: Null, but it is rarely useful outside of this matchup and causes Mega Diancie to lose the important matchup against Kartana.

Usage Tips
=========
Mega Diancie should be mainly be used against prominent metagame threats like non-Choice item Dragonite, both formes of Mega Charizard X and Y, Kommo-o, Porygon-Z, and Meloetta that it can reliably beat, as opposed to against the metagame in general as a catch-all against unknown matchups. Against Zygarde, if predicting Tectonic Rage to be used, Mega Diancie should use Magnet Rise to avoid being OHKOed, but if predicting Thousand Arrows to be used, Mega Diancie should use Moonblast to 2HKO Zygarde; note that Moonblast sometimes OHKOes some Zygarde it as well, easing the pressure of the 50/50 mind game. If Porygon-Z has used Breakneck Blitz, then Mega Evolving and using Moonblast wins the matchup, while if Porygon-Z has used Z-Conversion, then not Mega Evolving and using Moonblast into Mega Evolving and using Moonblast wins the matchup use Moonblast without Mega Evolving, and use Moonblast again while Mega Evolving this time to win. However, this 50/50 coinflip situation makes the matchup extremely unreliable, unlike with bulky Mega Gyarados.

Team Options

In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat speed traps fast sleep users like Jumpluff and Vivillon and certain stallbreakers like Incineroar and Kommo-o that these Pokemon struggle with.

Moves

Moonblast is Mega Diancie's strongest move and hits Mega Gyarados, (AC) Kommo-o, Dragonite, and Krookodile hard. Rock Tomb gives Mega Diancie a secondary STAB attack to hit Volcarona and both formes of Mega Charizard X and Y while providing an important method of speed control that lets it beat Mega Gyarados and non-Choice item Dragonite.

A Rash nature is used so that the damage output of Rock Tomb is not reduced, as its low Base Power causes makes this to be necessary.

Usage Tips
=========

However, if you predict that Mega Gyarados is running a more offensive spread, then do not Mega Evolve, (AC) and use Rock Tomb turn one to get chip damage and to prevent Mega Gyarados from outspeeding you if it uses Dragon Dance; (SC) then on turn two, Mega Evolve turn two and use Moonblast for the KO. Against either forme of Mega Charizard X and Y, use Diamond Storm if you are running it or Rock Tomb and refrain from Mega Evolving turn one to ensure the win, as Mega Evolving will cause Mega Diancie to be outsped and subsequently OHKOed by Solar Beam from Mega Charizard Y. Against speed trap fast sleep users and stall Pokemon that use status moves such as Leech Seed, Spore, Sleep Powder, and Toxic such as Jumpluff, Smeargle, Vivillon, and Chansey, Mega Evolve right away to invalidate these moves. Against Meloetta, first use Diamond Storm without Mega Evolving, then Mega Evolve and use Diamond Storm to secure the win. If not running Diamond Storm, then refrain from sending Mega Diancie out against Meloetta, as it will have a losing matchup.

Team Options
==========
Since bulky Mega Diancie has poor matchups against Steel-types like Magearna, Heatran, Genesect, Magnezone, Kartana, and Celesteela, Pokemon that reliably beat these threats, such as Fire- and Fighting-types like the Mega Charizard formes and X and Y, Mega Blaziken, and Ground-type Pokemon like Golem, and other Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-types, (cutting down on such as / like overload) make for good partners. In exchange, Mega Diancie can beat Flyinium Z Dragonite and both formes of Mega Charizard X and Y for Serperior (RC) and Donphan and Whimsicott for Zeraora.

Other Options
===========

=================

Additionally, Pokemon such as Choice Scarf Dragonite and Choice Scarf Haxorus can outspeed and OHKO Mega Diancie and OHKO it with their(space)Steel-type coverage moves such as Iron Head and Iron Tail.

**Ground-types**: Many Ground-types such as Landorus-I Landorus, Garchomp, Choice Scarf Diggersby, and Choice Scarf Landorus-T can outspeed and KO bulky Mega Diancie and KO it with their powerful STAB moves. Mega Diancie's access to Magnet Rise can potentially neutralize some of these Pokemon, but some bulky Ground-types like Rockium Z Golem (RC) and Mega Swampert can take advantage of their other STAB options to still hit Mega Diancie hard, while Quagsire can make use of Z-Stockpile and Recover to set up before whittling away at Mega Diancie's health with Scald.
