BH Mega Gyarados [DONE]

[OVERVIEW]
Mega Gyarados's good Attack stat and decent Water / Dark typing allow it to threaten a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Aegislash, and Mega Tyranitar and serve as a wallbreaker. Its typing also provides good resistances that allow Mega Gyarados to check Primal Kyogre and most Psychic-types as well as enabling it to Imposter-proof itself with Poison Heal or Unaware. It can also check setup sweepers with its decent bulk and resistance to common moves that they bring such as Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. Mega Gyarados's Speed, albeit below average, is enough to fulfill to the role of a wallbreaker and also allows it to get a slow U-turn on base 90 Speed Pokemon like Giratina and Primal Kyogre.

However, Mega Gyarados is easily accounted for with its number of weaknesses and can be surprised with coverage moves from Pokemon it should check such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y and Moonblast from Poison Heal Primal Kyogre. Having an Electric- and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados especially vulnerable to Pokemon such as Zekrom and U-turn users like Giratina and Primal Kyogre, and it's also susceptible to common coverage in Fairy- and Fighting-type moves from Pokemon such as Xerneas and Mega Gengar and strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X. This greatly compromises Mega Gyarados's ability to check threats. It is also susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards and has a weakness to common pivot moves in U-turn and Volt Switch from defensive threats. It despises any sort of damaging status, which makes it unable to do its job effectively.

Moves
========
Knock Off can remove foes' items such as Eviolite, Leftovers, and Safety Goggles. Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Primal Kyogre. It can also hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for super effective damage. Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas and Slaking and certain setup sweepers that threaten to 2HKO Mega Gyarados such as Life Orb Triage Mega Rayquaza and offensive Poison Heal Primal Kyogre, but it is bounced back by Magic Bounce, cannot go through a Substitute, and does not deal damage. Shore Up increases Mega Gyarados’s longevity so it can continuously tank hits. U-turn gains momentum against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina and Zygarde-C. Alternatively, Anchor Shot lets Mega Gyarados trap Imposter users such as Chansey and PP stall them, although it will leave Mega Gyarados in an awkward spot once the opponent gets a free switch afterward. It also allows Mega Gyarados to trap defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either remove their items with Knock Off or weaken them along with hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Set Details
========
Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by powder moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo Y. Unaware lets Mega Gyarados check common setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre and Yveltal, even those with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados has the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief. A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’s lower physical bulk, allowing it to survive at least 2 Facades from Regigigas and a +6 Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike, as well as win Spectral Thief wars by attacking after the foe. Alternatively, a Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo Y and Primal Kyogre.

Usage Tips
========
A resistance to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power, and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers such as Yveltal and Necrozma-DM, which can be vital because these moves prevent walls such as Fur Coat Chansey or RegenVest users from walling them. Therefore, make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a setup sweeper still exists in the opposing team. Scout for Fairy- and Fighting-type coverage from Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Primal Kyogre. Be wary of strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, Pheromosa, and Mega Garchomp, as they can deal massive damage even unboosted. Mega Gyarados should be careful when switching into defensive threats due to its vulnerability to Knock Off and common pivoting moves that allow the foe to gain momentum while dealing a lot of damage, and it can be weakened rather quickly from switching into strong attacks repeatedly, allowing setup sweepers to break through it. It can be used to bring in wallbreakers that require slow momentum support with U-turn. Knock Off should be used to remove items such as Eviolite from Chansey and Safety Goggles or Leftovers from defensive Pokemon to allow teammates to break through them with more ease. If not checking setup sweepers, use Knock Off to remove items or U-turn to gain a free switch. Keep entry hazards off the field, as they chip down Mega Gyarados fairly quickly, forcing it to repeatedly use its healing move and making it unable to check setup sweepers effectively.

Team Options
========
Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon such as Defog Giratina and Rapid Spin Necrozma-DM is useful, as Mega Gyarados is easily weakened by constantly switching into entry hazards, allowing the foe to break through it more easily. Imposter users such as Chansey can be used to scout for super effective coverage from Pokemon such as Fleur Cannon Mega Mewtwo Y and Secret Sword Mega Gengar. Magic Bounce users such as Registeel and Giratina are useful for pressuring non-Mold Breaker hazard setters or status effects targeted at Mega Gyarados. As Mega Gyarados helps Imposter-proof setup sweepers on its own team by stealing their boosts, setup sweepers that are not able to Imposter-proof themselves such as Mega Mewtwo Y can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados as a partner. A good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados such as Zygarde-C or Giratina is a good option, as it can help Mega Gyarados with taking physical hits from the likes of Mega Mewtwo X and Regigigas. Status absorbers such as Poison Heal or Magic Bounce users help Mega Gyarados with status effects. Steel-types such as Solgaleo, Registeel, and Aegislash can help Mega Gyarados with its Fairy-type weakness as well as with -ate users, and Aegislash in particular can help with Mega Gyarados's Fighting-type weakness. If the team is particularly weak to certain physical setup sweepers such as Mega Mewtwo X, another way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel will be useful. Pokemon able to set up entry hazards are very useful, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once the opponent knows it is running Unaware.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
Shift Gear and Shell Smash boost Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed, making it a threatening sweeper; while Shell Smash gives a greater boost to Mega Gyarados's Attack, it also lowers defenses. Coil can be used to increase Attack, accuracy, and Defense, allowing Crabhammer or Icicle Crash to hit consistently and letting Mega Gyarados take hits from physical attackers such as Regigigas and Primal Groudon. Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados's most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit, but Icicle Crash can be used to threaten common physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C as well as hit Primal Groudon under harsh sunlight. Knock Off is important for removing items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Mega Audino and is usually used with Shift Gear, while Power Trip is a more offensive option used with Shell Smash or Coil, allowing Mega Gyarados to sweep or wallbreak, respectively. Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados as well as physical attackers that may try to switch in on Mega Gyarados. Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, giving Mega Gyarados more opportunities to set up or wallbreak. It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off removing Safety Goggles and cannot be reflected by Magic Bounce due to Poison Heal. Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, hit Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super effective damage, and break through Unaware users; however, a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred, as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage and has rather low PP. Sacred Fire is an alternative to Will-O-Wisp to burn Shedinja and Imposter users in order to be not affected by Taunt, although it is generally a rather shaky option, as it has significantly less PP and has a chance to not burn the aforementioned targets. Spiky Shield can be used to chip down -ate users trying to revenge kill Mega Gyarados, KO non-Protective Pads Shedinja if it tries to wall Mega Gyarados, and scout for surprise super effective moves from Pokemon such as Dialga and Mega Mewtwo Y. King's Shield is another alternative that lowers the Attack of -ate priority users to prevent them from revenge killing Mega Gyarados, although it is mostly used for sets with Shell Smash and Shift Gear. Both of these shield moves allow Mega Gyarados to recover more health. However, an important utility move must be forgone, which may cripple common physical threats or give Mega Gyarados fewer opportunities to set up.

Set Details
========
Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal. Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados's longevity, prevents it from being statused, and Imposter-proofs it. It also allows Mega Gyarados to use Will-O-Wisp or Spore without fearing Magic Bounce. An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible, allowing it to 2HKO Mega Mewtwo X, Xerneas, and Mega Audino. 0 Speed investment with a Brave nature can be used on Coil sets to move after most Spectral Thief or Core Enforcer users, allowing Mega Gyarados to set up more easily.

Usage Tips
========
Mega Gyarados should try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery. Switching in through slow VoltTurn allows it to do so safely as well as take minimal damage before setting up. Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it. Try to cripple opposing Shedinja on the swtich with Will-O-Wisp, as this can help Mega Gyarados's sweep without being revenge killed. If Mega Gyarados is not running Sunsteel Strike or Will-O-Wisp, its teammates should lure out and weaken Shedinja as well as Prankster, Unaware, or Fur Coat users such as Mega Audino and Zygarde-C, as they are able to wall Mega Gyarados even if it sets up. If Mega Gyarados is not running Ice-type coverage, Zygarde-C should be eliminated. Although Mega Gyarados is able to set up against most defensive threats, it should be aware of Spectral Thief and Core Enforcer. Mega Gyarados should try to cripple physical attackers trying to switch in with Will-O-Wisp.

Team Options
========
-ate users such as Mega Diancie and Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as RegenVest Dialga, Soundproof Zygarde-C, and Primal Groudon are good teammates. Checks to Fighting- and Fairy-types such as Aegislash, Mega Slowbro, and Magearna are useful, and they are also able to lure in Steel-types and give Mega Gyarados an opening to set up. Slow pivots such as Aegislash, Mega Audino, and Giratina can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up. Entry hazards setters are good partners to get rid of Shedinja, break potential Focus Sashes, and allow Mega Gyarados to get KOs more easily. Powerful special wallbreakers such as Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo Y and Aerilate Mega Rayquaza can break through physical Unaware walls such as Zygarde-C and Mega Audino, which Mega Gyarados struggles against even with Sunsteel Strike. Pokemon immune to Spectral Thief such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful to scout for it, and Imposter users such as Chansey can scout for super effective moves from Mega Mewtwo Y and Primal Kyogre, Unaware users such as Primal Kyogre and Zygarde-C, and utility moves such as Core Enforcer and Spectral Thief so as to better prepare for Mega Gyarados's sweep. Fairy-types that resist Fighting such as Xerneas and Tapu Fini can help Mega Gyarados keep Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo X and Pheromosa in check and help take Core Enforcer users and defensive Dragon-types like Giratina and Zygarde-C on.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
0 IVs with a Brave nature can be used for Shift Gear and Shell Smash sets to avoid having their boosts stolen the turn they set up, at the cost of a huge amount of Speed. However, since most Spectral Thief users cannot beat Mega Gyarados one-on-one even after stealing its boosts, its utility is limited. A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch as well as common coverage in Fairy- and Fighting-type moves, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel and Necrozma-DM. Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as its Speed is only mediocre without boosting. Fur Coat can be used for better mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre, (comma) or Zygarde-C. A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairly quickly by Prankster Haze users and priority attackers, as it has no longevity and can only be used once. A set with Shell Smash and Dazzling is viable, as it cannot be easily revenge killed by -ate users; however, it requires extensive team support and can be stopped by Prankster Haze users such as Aegislash and Primal Kyogre as well as physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon. A set with Shell Smash and Simple is also viable, but unlike the above Shell Smash set, it can be easily revenged killed by priority users and stopped by Prankster Haze or Unaware walls such as Mega Audino and Zygarde-C. It also really gets only one opportunity to set up, having almost no longevity. Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear in the Poison Heal set, as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados to not get PP stalled; however, Mega Gyarados usually appreciates the additional Speed boost from Shift Gear.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fairy**: Mega Gyarados struggles to break past bulky Fairy-types such as Xerneas and Mega Audino and is easily KOed by a super effective move such as Light of Ruin or Pixilated Boomburst from offensive Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie. Mega Gyarados is also overwhelmed by common Fairy-type coverage from Pokemon it checks such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y.

**-ate users**: -ate users, especially of Pixilate and Galvanize, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Mewtwo X, and Zekrom can threaten Mega Gyarados out with their powerful super effective attacks, although they require prior damage to KO and may get KOed in return by a boosted attack from Mega Gyarados or lose their items to Knock Off, which they do not appreciate.

**Bulky Poison Heal Users**: Poison Heal users such as Xerneas and Primal Kyogre do not mind having their Toxic Orb knocked off after it has been activated. They are able to beat both defensive and offensive variants of Mega Gyarados if it has not accumulated many boosts, as Xerneas can KO with a powerful Moonblast and Primal Kyogre either outboosts or has Spectral Thief.

**Physical Attacks**: Mega Gyarados’s physical bulk is rather low, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force it out easily. Fighting-type coverage moves are also dangerous, as most of them are physical and can easily overwhelm Mega Gyarados. However, physical attackers are unable to switch in directly to the Poison Heal set, as Mega Gyarados can remove their boosting items with Knock Off or cripple them with Will-O-Wisp.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon are able to take hits from offensive Mega Gyarados and remove its boosts or use it as setup fodder, respectively. Primal Groudon is an exceptionally good check to offensive Mega Gyarados, as it is immune to Water-type attacks and cannot lose its Red Orb to Knock Off.

**Common Support Moves**: Status affects Mega Gyarados’s effectiveness in any role, either nullifying its defensive capability or putting it on a timer. Mega Gyarados also is vulnerable to common utility moves like Core Enforcer, Knock Off, and Spectral Thief and is dead weight against VoltTurn.

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp and Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados.

Overview:
This mon is actually pretty bad as a defensive mon as it is weak to things like u-turn and volt switch and fighting and fairy moves
But it's really cool as an offensive cleaner with Shell Smash which you don't even talk about anywhere on here.

Unaware set:
* Spore/Lovely Kiss? Hmmmmmm... not sure about that one. I really don't like LK since you are forced out by imposter and threatened by bounce
*U-Turn/Knock Off, not BP. There is no way to stop Imposter from passing boosts to something else either.
*Shore up every time over Recover, as Gyarados will probably end up being your megatar switchin

Moves
*You don't have to mention overcoat or insomnia.
*Mention that HS steals negative boosts like Shell Smash boosts and can be taunted
*Say what kinds of items Knock Off knocks off

set details
*What does unaware actually let it do in this meta? (Hint: it lets it survive power trip)
*Don't run +spD Mega Gyarados

Usage tips
*Might want to reorganize that section. It's all over the place. And it's fairly obvious that Mold Breaker and clones would mess with Mega Gyarados.

Team Options
*List actual mons that you can pair up instead of just generalities
*Giratina really is good since it can take fighting, electric, and bug attacks for Gyarados and Gyarados can handle strong Psychic, Dark and Ghost moves in return
*Switchins to fairy types and wallbreakers (steels, such as ...)
*Other Switchins to fighting types (bulky psychics or physically defensive mons, such as ...)
*Get rid of the thing about glass cannons because bp is bad

You didn't mention the Shell Smash sets? That is a travesty.

PH set Sucks these days, probably remove

Other Options
*Tough Claws Band is faster than the similar banded Ttar set, and has a better STAB in liquidation that hits more common things neutrally.
*You could list PH set here. It does have niche uses
*I might list the regenvest set here as a blanket check to special attackers, but it has trouble switching into many of them (MMY with Fleur Cannon or Sheer Force Bolt Strike, Mega Rayquaza boomburst is easy 2hKO, Normalize Entrain Mega Gengar forces you out, Regenvest Kyogre-p threatens you with scald burns, etc)
*Mold breaker is bad, probably remove
*There is no such thing as a Support mega-Gyaarados set, remove please

c&c
*What I see looks okay
*Add status
*Normalize mega gengar
*Sturdy Shedinja
*Residual damage and pivot moves

[OVERVIEW]

* With high attack and respectable bulk, Mega Gyarados finds itself a place in Balanced Hackmons.
* Thanks to its good stats and typing, it can run both offensive and defensive sets, making it an unpredictable threat in the metagame.
* Water/Dark typing allows it to threaten some of the tier's most prominent tanks, most of which are Ghost and Psychic types Psychic has a lot of walls but I wouldn't call any prominent. Just mention how its STABs together are unrrsisted meaning it can always hit something hard.
* It also provides good resistances to Fire, Ice, Steel, Water dont list the type chart and if you will, at least include the ghost resist and dark resist over fire and steel since mgyara isnt checking pdon blaziken kart or (set dependent) dialga, therefore allowing Mega Gyarados to check Mega Gengar, Primal Groudon Mega Gyarados is not a pdon check, Primal Kyogre, Zygarde-Complete MGyara isnt a ZygC check without ice coverage and Psychic types Gyara doesnt check MMY or MMX too reliably.
* An Electric and Bug type weakness makes Mega Gyarados weak to both Volt Switch and U-turn, as well as common coverage in Fairy and Fighting greatly denies Mega Gyarados’ ability to check threats.
* Low speed and subpar physical bulk holds Mega Gyarados back significantly. i wouldnt ever say low speed holds mgyara back from its roles - it likes its speed tier bc it lets gyara be fast enough to wallbreak while making gyara slow enough to get momentum on offensive threats it checks
* Strong physical setup sweepers such as Mega Mewtwo X can outspeed Mega Gyarados and proceeds to KO it.
* Mega Gyarados has a Dark typing, it is immune to Prankster moves and able to setup with ease if the opposing Imposter user has been weakened or removed.

somewhere in here mention how it can check setup decently well bc it resists stored power power trip sungeist geyser.

evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
* Darkest Lariat ignores stat boosts, allowing Mega Gyarados to hit setup or Contrary Pokemon through their defense boosts remove this point, its redundant with unaware and darkest lariat should not be in here.
* Knock Off can be used to remove foe's items, namely Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles
* Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as
* Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal types, but it is blocked by Magic Bounce such as, also mgyara isnt checking most of the setup norms anyway
* Shore Up can increase Mega Gyarados’ longevity
* U-turn generates momentum after stealing foe’s boosts u turn doesnt steal boosts, this reads poorly. Also what does mgyara get momentum on
* Anchor Shot traps defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them, it also allows it to hit Fairy types for damage super effectively, not for damage. Any attack lets it hit fairy types for damage minus dragon type attacks

Set Details
========
* Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by Powder Moves such as Spore
* Unaware allows Mega Gyarados to ignore boosts that the foe has accumulated, as well as check common setup sweepers with Power Trip and Stored Power
* A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’ lower physical bulk and win Spectral Thief wars with other Spectral Thief users
* A Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be so
* 0 Speed Ivs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, generating the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief

Usage Tips
========
* Works best on Balance teams this is more of a team option, also flesh this out
* Works great against offensive teams it doesnt but if youre gonna include this flesh it out more
* Does not fear Moongeist Beam or Sunsteel Strike, as well as resistant to Power Trip and Stored Power not a usage tip, more of an overview point. Also explain why this helps it
* Vulnerability to ability-ignoring abilities such as Mold Breaker as they ignore Unaware this is checks and counters, not usage tips
* Make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a threatening setup sweeper still exists in opposing team
* Helps improof own team by stealing boosts imposed by Imposter users team options
* Worn down by all kinds of entry hazards, so best if they are removed team options
* Scout for Fairy and Fighting coverage from Ghost and Psychic types
* Be aware of strong physical Fighting types, as they can deal massive even unboosted

Team Options
========
* Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Solgaleo
* Good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados, for example Zygarde-C, who is immune to Electric, and Giratina, being immune to Fighting, resistant to Grass, Bug and Electric, although both share a Fairy type weakness with Mega Gyarados
* Although hard to fit in, clerics such as Mega Audino helps Mega Gyarados with status
* A Fairy type switch in such as Assault Vest Solgaleo or Mega Scizor bring up like, anything more viable than sciz.
* Alternative way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel to guarantee strong physical setup sweepers will not blow Mega Gyarados away
* Hazards, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware, so Stealth Rock users such as Ferrothorn or Mega Audino work well.

item: White Herb
ability: Unburden
nature: Adamant

this set is really bad atm. I wouldnt include this variant of smash gyara

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
* Shell Smash boosts Mega Gyarados’ Speed, letting it hit 574 speed, outspeeding the entire unboosted meta as well as raise its Attack to frightening levels
* Power Trip takes advantage of the number of stat boosts and boost its base power
* Sunsteel Strike is used to hit Fairy types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino
* Imprison helps Mega Gyarados at self-improofing, stopping Imposter users from using any of Mega Gyarados’ moves

Set Details
========
* White Herb removes stat decreases for one time for a 120 base power Power Trip with no negative stat change
* Unburden doubles Mega Gyarados’ speed after White Herb has been consumed
* An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible

Usage Tips
========
* Keep Mega Gyarados healthy until the end, as this Mega Gyarados has no recovery and it's boosting move lower its defenses
* Switch in through slow VoltTurn cores so Mega Gyarados takes least amount of damage before sweeping
* Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it
kill pranks
scout for status
scout for spectral users
you literally dont force anything out before a smash so set up on smth which cant threaten your setup

* Get rid of Shedinja before sweeping, as Mega Gyarados is unable to faint it you literally have Sunsteel

Team Options
========
* -ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon such as Registeel or Primal Groudon are good teammates
* Pokemon which struggle with Imposter users are good partners, as this particular Mega Gyarados set is improofed and can kill Imposter users easily
* Volt Switch and U-turn users can safely allow Mega Gyarados to set up
* Entry hazards setters such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane or Deoxys-Speed are good partners, as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, as well as break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Fur Coat can be used for great mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C
* An offensive Poison Heal set can be used, but it is generally outclassed by Regigigas and is generally not as effective as the suggested sets above its actually more effective than the smash set
* A RegenVest set is viable, but due to Mega Gyarados being weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting types, it has trouble switching into them prob not oo
* Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker why isnt this main set, mention why

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pixilate users**: Pixilate users such as Mega Diancie and Mega Mewtwo X can threaten Mega Gyarados out with their powerful Fairy-type attacks, although both require prior damage on Mega Gyarados, as neither of them can KO Mega Gyarados from max health, and may get killed by a boosted attack from Mega Gyarados.

**Normalize Mega Gengar**: Once Mega Gengar has made Mega Gyarados’ ability into Normalize, Mega Gyarados is unable to hit it with any move.

**Shedinja**: Mega Gyarados has no way to touch Shedinja, unless you are carrying the rare Will-O-Wisp or Toxic. must fear sunsteel and ph variants that have status

**Galvanize users**: Galvanize users such as Zekrom deal a lot of damage to Mega Gyarados, although they do not appreciate having their items knocked off

**Physical attackers**: Mega Gyarados’ physical bulk is rather low, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados out easily.

**Bulky Poison Heal users**: Poison Heal users do not mind having their Toxic Orbs knocked off after it has been activated. They are also immune to Spore and defensive variants of Mega Gyarados struggles to do anything against them.

**Fairy and Fighting coverage**: Psychic and Ghost types can hit Mega Gyarados for super effective damage with Fairy or Fighting coverage, denting its ability to check these Pokemon.

**Residual damage and Pivot moves**: Status greatly dampens Mega Gyarados’ ability to be an Unaware Pokemon or setup sweeper, as they either cripple its defensive capability or puts its setup on a timer. Mega Gyarados is weak to both Pivot moves, and is a deadweight against VoltTurn teams
This analysis needs a lot of work tbh, flesh out your points more and explain your stuff. At its current state thisll prob be rejected

[OVERVIEW]
* With high attack and respectable bulk, Mega Gyarados finds itself a place in Balanced Hackmons.
* Thanks to its good stats and typing, it can run both offensive and defensive sets, making it an unpredictable threat in the metagame.
*Although Mega Gyarados does not have the best speed stat, it Is fast enough to wallbreak while slow enough to gain momentum on offensive threats it checks
* Water/Dark typing allows it to threaten a lot of Pokemon, as it is an unresisted STAB coverage.
* It’s typing also provides good resistances, therefore allowing Mega Gyarados to check Mega Gengar, Primal Kyogre, and most Psychic types
* It can also check setup decently as it resists moves such as Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam.
* An Electric and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados weak to both Volt Switch and U-turn, as well as common coverage in Fairy and Fighting greatly denies Mega Gyarados’ ability to check threats. Which threats exactly? (ie: stuff like Xern, Zekrom, and also merge the next point here specifying MMX as well)
* Strong physical setup sweepers such as Mega Mewtwo X can outspeed Mega Gyarados and proceeds to KO it.
* Give point stating how Mega Gyara can be worn down rather quickly via all forms of entry hazards + status and the fact that its weak to common pivot moves that most defensive threats run.
* Mega Gyarados has a Dark typing, it is immune to Prankster moves and able to setup with ease if the opposing Imposter user has been weakened or removed. The former point isnt rlly that relevant as most Prank mons are gonna haze its stats away or rkill it with Destiny Bond anyways and the latter can be applied to basically every offensive threat. Plz remove point all together.

Moves
========
* Knock Off can be used to remove foe's items, namely Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles.
* Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Ultra Necrozma Primal Kyogre.
* Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas or Slaking, but it is blocked by Magic Bounce and cannot hit Ghost and Psychic for any damage. Also mention that it can generally be a good option vs setup sweepers that risk to 2hko Mega Gyara inherently such as LO Triage Ray and offensive PH Primal Kyogre variants
* Shore Up can increase Mega Gyarados’ longevity
* U-turn generates momentum for Mega Gyarados against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina or Zygarde-C
* Anchor Shot traps defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them, it also allows it to hit Fairy types for super-effective damage. Most importantly it traps Imposter and usually enables Gyara to PP stall it

Set Details
========
* Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by Powder Moves such as Spore Give examples of threats it can bypass because of this
* Unaware allows Mega Gyarados to ignore boosts that the foe has accumulated, as well as check common setup sweepers with Power Trip and Stored Power also the MBreaker moves
* A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’ lower physical bulk and win Spectral Thief wars with other Spectral Thief users More importantly it does this:
252 Atk Regigigas Facade (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gyarados-Mega: 181-214 (45.9 - 54.3%) -- 53.1% chance to 2HKO
+6 252+ Atk Necrozma-Dusk-Mane Sunsteel Strike vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gyarados-Mega: 280-330 (71 - 83.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

* A Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be so to better check threats such as Mega Gengar and Triage Mega Ray
* 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, generating the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief Mention how some speed investment can be run in order to outpace certain sweepers after getting boosts from Spectral.

Usage Tips
========
* Being resistant to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers, as they ignore abilities and increase power by stat boost respectively However, mention that most setup sweepers commonly run SE coverage options that can weaken Mega Gyara.
* Make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a threatening setup sweeper still exists in opposing team
* Scout for Fairy and Fighting coverage from Ghost and Psychic types
* Be aware of strong physical Fighting-types, as they can deal massive even unboosted Kinda implied, give a note on how Mega Gyara should not be mindlessly brought in against defensive threats due to its weakness to pivoting which can leave it at a vulnerable spot.

Team Options
========
* Works best on Balance teams This is really vague as most BH teams follow a sort of balance structure anyways, mention specifically that it works best on teams requiring anti-setup if not running options like Prankster Haze or other Unaware mons.
* Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Solgaleo finish the sentence
* Mega Gyarados helps improof setup sweepers on own team by stealing boosts imposed by Imposter users, so setup sweepers that are not able to improof themselves can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados has a partner examples such as MMY, Primal Groudon, and certain Mega Ray sets can work here
* Good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados, for example, Zygarde-C, which is immune to Electric, and Giratina, being immune to Fighting, resistant to Grass, Bug, and Electric, although both share a Fairy type weakness with Mega Gyarados
* Although hard to fit in, clerics such as Mega Audino helps Mega Gyarados with status Its not necessarily a cleric, moreso status absorber / deflecter via PH and MBounce respectively
* A Fairy type switch in such as Assault Vest Solgaleo or Aegislash Expand this to Steel types in general, also mention how Aegi can help check Fighting types.
* Alternative way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel to guarantee strong physical setup sweepers will not blow Mega Gyarados away
* Entry hazards, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware, so Stealth Rock users such as Ferrothorn or Mega Audino work well.

Moves
========
* Shift Gear boosts Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper
* Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados not to get PP stalled
* Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados's most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit
* Liquidation can be used as an alternative for a more accurate STAB with a chance to lower foe's defense, although the drop in damage will be significant
* Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super-effective damage, and break through Unaware users. Keep mention here although specify that it would much rather use a Water STAB move instead due to the limited coverage SS offers.
* Knock Off is important for removing foe's items like Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Mega Audino and Eviolite from Imposter. also acts as reliable powerful STAB
* Will-O-Wisp can be used to KO Shedinja, as well as Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados
* Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, allowing another teammate to come in and threaten them. Also note that it works well in tandem with Koff as Gyara can remove Goggles and proceed to spam move w/o repercussion.

Set Details
========
* Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal
* Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados's longevity, as well as prevent Mega Gyarados from being infatuated with any other status. Also note that it lets it improof itself
* An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible Can you list any notable calcs that it can achieve?

Usage Tips
========
* Try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery
* Switch in through slow VoltTurn from Pokemon such as Registeel or Mega Audino so Mega Gyarados takes least amount of damage before sweeping
* Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it
* Predict Shedinjas or Imposter users such as Chansey to come in and use Will-O-Wisp on them, as this can help Mega Gyarados's sweep without being revenge killed. Mega Gyara can still beat Imposter in the 1v1 for most part by just Koffing it and wearing it down
* If not running Sunsteel Strike and Will-O-Wisp, weaken Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and get rid of Shedinja beforehand
* Point on when to sweep vs just spamming STAB moves / utility options

Team Options
========
* -ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as Aegislash or Primal Groudon are good teammates
* Pokemon which are able to draw in Imposter Pokemon and wear them down are useful in assisting Mega Gyarados's sweep Not necessarily as this set can mostly Improof itself for the most part.
* Pivots such as RegenVest Solgaleo, Zygarde-C, and Registeel can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up
* Entry hazards setters such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane or Deoxys-Speed are good partners, as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, as well as break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon
* Powerful special wallbreakers such as Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo Y and Aerilate Mega Rayquaza with the ability to break through physical Unaware walls such as Zygarde-C and opposing Mega Gyara are useful, as Mega Gyarados struggles to do much damage to them even with Sunsteel Strike
* Scouting for Spectral Thief is important so as to prevent Mega Gyarados's stat boosts from being stolen, so Pokemon immune to it such as Mega Audino and Arcrus are useful

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Fur Coat can be used for great mixed bulk, but that role is better perfored by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C Never rlly was a fan of this set altho ig will see with rest of qcs input
* A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairy quickly by either Prankster Haze or Imposter Users, as it takes at least 2 turns to set up
* A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting-types, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel or Solgaleo
* Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as Mega Gyarados's speed is only mediocre without boosting. Move this to first bullet
* Mention Ice coverage on setup boosting sets.

Checks and Counters
===================
Expand this to Fairy types in general.

**Normalize Mega Gengar**: Once Mega Gengar has changed Mega Gyarados’ ability into Normalize, Mega Gyarados is unable to hit it with any move.

**Shedinja**: Mega Gyarados has no way to touch Shedinja unless you are carrying the rare Will-O-Wisp or Toxic Sunsteel Strike.

**Bulky Poison Heal users**: Poison Heal users such as? do not mind having their Toxic Orbs knocked off after it has been activated. They are also immune to Spore and defensive variants of Mega Gyarados struggles to do anything against them.

Mega Gyarados is weak to both Pivot moves and is a deadweight against VoltTurn teams move this up.

**Pokemon with Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities

* Mega Gyarados is susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards and status as well as a weakness to common pivot moves from defensive threats (make sure to link this point to the above bullet as an explanation for why Bug- and Electric-type weakness is bad. Specifically for bug because it's otherwise rarely used offensively)

Moves
========
* Knock Off can be used to remove foe's items, namely Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles
* Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Primal Kyogre and lets Gyarados become an offensive threat. Also has the benefit of hitting Psychic- and Ghost-types super effectively
* Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas or Slaking and certain setup sweepers that threaten to 2HKO Mega Gyarados such as Life Orb Triage Mega Rayquaza or Offensive Poison Heal Primal Kyogre, but it is blocked by Magic Bounce and cannot hit Ghost and Psychic for any damage. and does not deal damage (make this change bc you don't use Spectral specifically to hit ghost and psychics since knock off does, but it is an added benefit)
* Shore Up can increase Mega Gyarados’ longevity to continuously tank hits
* U-turn generates momentum for Mega Gyarados against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina or Zygarde-C
* Anchor Shot traps Imposter users and PP stalls them as well as defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them. It also allows Mega Gyarados to hit Fairy types for super effective damage

Set Details
========
* Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by Powder Moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza, Mega Mewtwo Y and Slaking so they cant prevent it from shutting them down
* Unaware allows Mega Gyarados to ignore boosts that the foe has accumulated, as well as check common setup sweepers with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam
* A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’ lower physical bulk, allowing it to survive at least 1 Facade from Regigigas (not to survive 1 Facade from Regi, but have a chance to survive two) and a +6 Necrozma-Dusk-Mane's Sunsteel Strike, as well as win Spectral Thief wars with other Spectral Thief users
* A Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be, so as to better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Triage Mega Rayquaza and Mega Gengar
* 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, generating the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed IVs EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief.

Usage Tips
========
* Being resistant to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers, as they ignore abilities and increase power by stat boost respectively, however these Pokemon usually bring super effective moves, so scouting will be beneficial
* Make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a threatening setup sweeper still exists in opposing team
* Scout for Fairy and Fighting coverage from Ghost and Psychic types
* Be aware of strong physical Fighting-types, as they can deal massive even unboosted
(You forgot to include funbot's mention of being careful about switching into defensive pivots as their pivot moves will hurt a lot and steal momentum. Also, Mega gyara itself can also serve as a generally bulky slow pivot. And knock off is fairly spammable when you dont have any major setup threats to check)

Team Options
========
* Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon
* Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Solgaleo (and include that this is because entry hazards wear Gyarados down and make it easier for opponents to break through)
* Mega Gyarados helps improof setup sweepers on own team by stealing boosts imposed by Imposter users, so setup sweepers that are not able to improof themselves such as Primal Groudon, Mega Mewtwo Y and Contrary or Shell Smash Mega Rayquaza can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados has a partner
* Good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados, for example, Zygarde-C, which is immune to Electric, and Giratina, being immune to Fighting, resistant to Grass, Bug, and Electric, although both share a Fairy type weakness with Mega Gyarados
* Status absorbers such as Poison Heal or Magic Bounce users such as Xerneas or Aegislash helps Mega Gyarados with status effects
* Steel-types such as Solgaleo, Registeel and Aegislash can help Mega Gyarados with its Fairy-type weakness as well as help it with -ate users, and Aegislash, in particular, can help with Mega Gyarados' Fighting-type weakness
* Alternative way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel to guarantee strong physical setup sweepers will not blow Mega Gyarados away (though this is a bit overkill)
* Entry hazards, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware, so Stealth Rock users such as Ferrothorn or Mega Audino work well.

Moves
========
* Shift Gear boosts Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper
* Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados not to get PP stalled (See above)
* Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados's most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit
* Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super-effective damage, and break through Unaware users, however a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage
* Knock Off is important for removing foe's items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Mega Audino, and is also a powerful STAB for Mega Gyarados (it's powerful STAB first, and removes items second. Also lets Gyarados have a lasting effect even when it doesn't boost)
* Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados (I also like Sacred Fire so mention it here as an alternative option)
* Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, allowing another teammate to come in and threaten them. It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off being able to remove Safety Goggles. (and it gives you free turns to set up)

Set Details
========
* Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal
* Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados's longevity, as well as prevent Mega Gyarados from being infatuated with any other status and improofs itself (letting you use Spore / Wil o Wisp without worry of magic bounce)
* An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible, allowing it to 2HKO Poison Heal Mega Mewtwo X, Xerneas, Mega Audino, and specifically Fur Coat Chansey after removing its Eviolite with Stealth Rock at +1

Usage Tips
========
* Try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery
* Switch in through slow VoltTurn from Pokemon such as Registeel or Mega Audino so Mega Gyarados takes least amount of damage before sweeping (this also helps you avoid being statused)
* Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it
* Try and predict Shedinja to come in and use Will-O-Wisp to cripple them, as this can help Mega Gyarados's sweep without being revenge killed
* If not running Sunsteel Strike and Will-O-Wisp, weaken Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and get rid of Shedinja beforehand
* When Prankster, Unaware or Fur Coat users are still on the opposing teams, try and lure them out and weaken them with the combination of Knock Off and Will-O-Wisp and use teammates to help further weaken them, aiding Mega Gyarados in sweeping more easily late game when these Pokemon have been removed or weakened
(otherwise, it's generally okay to set up against defensive threats as Gyarados resists most defensive support moves and can't be statused after its Toxic Orb is activated)
(also, be careful of spectral thief and slow core enforcer - both hurt a lot)

Team Options
========
* -ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as Aegislash or Primal Groudon are good teammates
* Pivots such as RegenVest Solgaleo, Zygarde-C, and Registeel can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up
* Entry hazards setters such as Necrozma-Dusk-Mane or Deoxys-Speed are good partners, (I think it would be more appropriate to say that entry hazard moves are helpful, you don't need dedicated setters) as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, as well as break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon
* Powerful special wallbreakers such as Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo Y and Aerilate Mega Rayquaza with the ability to break through physical Unaware walls such as Zygarde-C and Mega Gyarados are useful, as Mega Gyarados struggles to do much damage to them even with Sunsteel Strike
* Scouting for Spectral Thief is important so as to prevent Mega Gyarados's stat boosts from being stolen, so Pokemon immune to it such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful
(general type coverage is also beneficial; Fairy- and Ghost-types to check Fighting-types and lure in Steel-types)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as Mega Gyarados's speed is only mediocre without boosting
* Fur Coat can be used for great mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C (I don't like Fur Coat either)
* A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairy quickly by either Prankster Haze or Imposter Users, as it takes at least 2 turns to set up (has no longevity, and can only be used once)
* A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting-types, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel or Solgaleo
* Ice-type coverage can be considered on setup boosting sets for Zygarde-C

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fairy-types**: Mega Gyarados struggles to break past bulky Fairy-types such as Xerneas and Mega Audino and is easily KOed by a super effective move from offensive Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie (mention fairy-type coverage attacks here as well)

**Normalize Mega Gengar**: Once Mega Gengar has changed Mega Gyarados’ ability into Normalize, Mega Gyarados is unable to hit it with any move. (I'd hesitate to say that Normalize Gar is a check or a counter. It can't switch in, and this applies to pretty much every Pokemon Gar outspeeds.)

**Shedinja**: Mega Gyarados has no way to touch Shedinja unless you are carrying the rare Will-O-Wisp or Sunsteel Strike. (this is a given. that's why you run those moves. that's like saying unaware set is weak to setup sweepers if it doesnt run unaware)

**-ate users**: -ate users, specifically Pixilate and Galvanize, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Mewtwo X and Zekrom can threaten Mega Gyarados out with their powerful super effective attacks, although they require prior damage on Mega Gyarados, as neither of them can KO Mega Gyarados from max health, and may get KOed in return a boosted attack from Mega Gyarados, as well as not appreciating their items being knocked off.

**Bulky Poison Heal users**: Poison Heal users such as Xerneas and Primal Kyogre do not mind having their Toxic Orbs knocked off after it has been activated. They are also immune to Spore and defensive variants of Mega Gyarados struggles to do anything against them.

**Physical attackers**: **Physical Attacks**: Mega Gyarados’ physical bulk is rather low, (for a wall / tank) so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados out easily. (mention Fighting-type coverage here as well. Almost all Fighting coverage is physical anyway (secret sword))

**Residual damage and Pivot moves**: Status greatly dampens Mega Gyarados’ ability to be an Unaware Pokemon or setup sweeper, as they either cripple its defensive capability or puts its setup on a timer. Mega Gyarados is weak to both Pivot moves and is a deadweight against VoltTurn teams

**Fairy and Fighting coverage**: Psychic and Ghost-types can hit Mega Gyarados for super effective damage with Fairy or Fighting coverage, denting its ability to check these Pokemon. (this should be mentioned somewhere else, it doesn't need its own mention)

**Pokemon with Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities

44 Speed IVs IVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief.

Usage Tips
========

========

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

=============

===================

Thanks a lot for the tips man :]

hey - not qc but some tips:

[OVERVIEW]
* With high attack and respectable bulk, Mega Gyarados finds itself a place in Balanced Hackmons. fluff
* Thanks to its good stats and typing, it can run both offensive and defensive sets, making it an unpredictable threat in the metagame.
*Although Mega Gyarados does not have the best speed stat, it Is fast enough to wallbreak and sweep after setting up while slow enough to gain momentum on offensive threats it checks
* Water/Dark typing allows it to threaten a lot of Pokemon, as it is an unresisted STAB coverage it's not unresisted per se, it's just that very few common Pokemon resist it
* It’s typing also provides good resistances, therefore allowing Mega Gyarados to check Mega Gengar, Primal Kyogre, and most Psychic types as well allow it to self imposter-proof
* It can also check setup decently as it resists moves such as Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam
* An Electric and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados weak to Pokemon such as Zekrom, as well as common coverage in Fairy and Fighting from Pokemon such as Xerneas and strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, greatly denies Mega Gyarados’ ability to check threats

Moves
========

* Knock Off can be used to remove foe's items, namely Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles

* Anchor Shot traps Imposter users such as chansey and PP stalls them as well as defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them. It also allows Mega Gyarados to hit Fairy types for super effective damage mention how it loses momentum though

Set Details
========
* Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by Powder Moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza, Mega Mewtwo Y and Slaking regigigas is the standard, but also mgyara isnt a good check to either. find a diff example or remove so they cannot stop Mega Gyarados from stopping their sweep
* Unaware allows Mega Gyarados to ignore boosts that the foe has accumulated, as well as check common setup sweepers with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam mention how it lets it check pogre too along w/ one-two other examples you may think of
* A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’ lower physical bulk, allowing it to survive at least 2 Facade from Regigigas and a +6 Necrozma-Dusk-Mane's Sunsteel Strike, as well as win Spectral Thief wars with other Spectral Thief users elaborate on what this means since spectral thief wars isnt a common term
* A Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be, so as to better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Triage Mega Rayquaza and Mega Gengar id argue relaxed actually helps gyara check gar better bc of secret sword
* 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, generating the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed IVs say evs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief.

Usage Tips
========
* Being resistant to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers such as, as they ignore abilities and increase power by stat boost respectively, however these Pokemon usually bring super effective moves, so scouting will be beneficial scouting for coverage should be its own bullet point
* Make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a threatening setup sweeper still exists in opposing team like what? obv stuff like mmx sweeper isnt smth gyara will stay on
* Scout for Fairy and Fighting coverage from Ghost and Psychic types specifically mention mega gengar and mega mewtwo y, maybe add primal kyogre there too for fairy
* Be aware of strong physical Fighting-types, as they can deal massive even unboosted give examples. mmx pheromosa mega heracross, also not just fighting types thouhg that's the main emphasis be wary of strong phys breakers in general
* Mega Gyarados should be aware of switching into defensive threats due to its weakness to pivot moves and therefore allowing the foe to gain momentum while taking a lot of damage
* Mega Gyarados can be used a bulky slow pivot with U-turn so as gain momentum for the team reword this to say mgyara can be used to bring wallbreakers that need slow momentum support in, give examples
* Knock Off should be used when there are no significant setup sweepers on foe's team this isnt the only context koff should be used, elaborate
play mgyara carefully and dont try switching it into too much
make sure hazards are off the field

put team options here
========
* Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon
* Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Solgaleo is useful as Mega Gyarados is easily weakened by constantly switching into entry hazards and allows the foe to break through Mega Gyarados more easily
* Mega Gyarados helps improof setup sweepers on own team by stealing boosts imposed by Imposter users, so setup sweepers that are not able to improof themselves such as Primal Groudon, Mega Mewtwo Y and Contrary or Shell Smash Mega Rayquaza can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados has a partner if youre using mgyara as an improof to pdon or mray then there's something realy wrong with the set, find a better example
* Good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados, for example, Zygarde-C, which is immune to Electric, and Giratina, being immune to Fighting, resistant to Grass, Bug, and Electric, although both share a Fairy type weakness with Mega Gyarados mention what they do instead of mentioning their weaknesses, also zygc isnt an electric answer
* Alternative way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel to guarantee strong physical setup sweepers will not deal too much damage to Mega Gyarados
* Entry hazards, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware, so Stealth Rock users such as Ferrothorn or Mega Audino work well.

Moves
========
* Shift Gear boosts Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper
* Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados's most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit
* Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super-effective damage, and break through Unaware users, however a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage and has low pp
* Knock Off is a powerful STAB for Mega Gyarados and is important for removing foe's items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Mega Audino,
* Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados as well as physical breakers that may try to get gutsy w/ switchins
* Sacred Fire is an alternative to Will-O-Wisp to burn Shedinja and Imposter users, as well as not being affected by Taunt, although it has lower chance to burn and significantly lower PP emphasize why its generally unviable
* Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, allowing another teammate to come in and threaten them. It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off being able to remove Safety Goggles.
put the new additions in the respective places, mention how power trip should mainly be used with shell smash but can be used on coil as well
add a spiky/kings shield bullet so you can chip/weaken -ate users that might try to rk, mention the obvious drawbacks though and pick only one of the two shields

Set Details
========
* Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal
* Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados's longevity, as well as prevent Mega Gyarados from being infatuated this word doesnt fit here with any other status and improofs itself. It also allows Mega Gyarados to use Will-O-Wisp or Toxic without fearing Magic Bounce
* An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible, allowing it to 2HKO Poison Heal Mega Mewtwo X just say all mmx, Xerneas, Mega Audino, and specifically Fur Coat Chansey after removing its Eviolite with Stealth Rock at +1 if you can find a better example that doesnt require like 3 different things to happen before mgyara takes it on add that, otherwise remove this as you have 3 examples already which is enough
mention running 0 evs/0ivs w/ a brave nature on coil and shell smash sets to underspeed most spectral thief (for smash)/core enforcer users

Usage Tips
========
* Try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery
* Switch in through slow VoltTurn from Pokemon such as Registeel or Mega Audino so Mega Gyarados can activate its Toxic Orb and take the least amount of damage before sweepingjust say setting up
* Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it
* Try and predict Shedinja to come in and use Will-O-Wisp to cripple them, as this can help Mega Gyarados's sweep without being revenge killed
* Although Mega Gyarados is generally able to set up against most defensive threats, it should be aware of Spectral Thief and Core Enforcer, which steals its boosts and supresses Poison Heal from working respectively
if not running ice coverage zygc should be eliminated beforehand
if you predict a physical breaker may come in try to wisp them on the switch

Team Options
========
* -ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as Aegislash or Primal Groudon are good teammates aegislash is no zekrom check, just say soundproof zygc or av dialga or something instead
* Checks to Fighting and Fairy-types such as Fairy, Psychic and Ghost-types are useful dont say the types, give specific examples, and they are also able to lure in Steel-types and give Mega Gyarados an opening to set up
* Pivots such as RegenVest Solgaleo, Zygarde-C, and Registeel can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up specify slow pivots
* Entry hazards setters are good partners, as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon and allows Mega Gyarados to get KOs more easily
* Scouting for Spectral Thief is important so as to prevent Mega Gyarados's stat boosts from being stolen, so Pokemon immune to it such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful
again imposter
fairy types that can resist fighting and are also immune to core

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
* Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as Mega Gyarados's speed is only mediocre without boosting
* Fur Coat can be used for great mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C
* A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairy quickly by either Prankster Haze or Imposter Users, as it has no longevity and can only be used once
talk about dazzlesmash too
talk about simplesmash too

* A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting-types, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel or Solgaleo
* Ice-type coverage can be considered on setup boosting sets for Zygarde-C this isnt an oo this should be a main option
* Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear in the Poison Heal set as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados not to get PP stalled

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fairy-type Pokemon and coverage**: Mega Gyarados struggles to break past bulky Fairy-types such as Xerneas and Mega Audino and is easily KOed by a super effective move such as Light of Ruin or Pixilated Boomburst from offensive Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie. Mega Gyarados is also overwhelmed by common Fairy-type coverage by Pokemon it checks such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y

**Physical attacks**: Mega Gyarados’ physical bulk is rather low for an Unaware wall, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados out easily. Fighting-type coverage is also dangerous as most of them are physical and can easily overwhelm Mega Gyarados mention how they cant switch into the ph set tho bc it can koff their cb/wisp them

bullet for physically bulky mons here, make sure to emphasize pdon since it's immune to water and koff is less bp vs it

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities

[OVERVIEW]
Although Mega Gyarados does not have the best speed stat, it is fast enough to wallbreak and sweep after setting up while slow enough to gain momentum on offensive threats it checks. (this is a weird way to start off the analysis. Start with its good Attack stat and nice typing. Mention Speed at the very end of this paragraph.) Its Water/Dark typing allows it to threaten a lot of Pokemon such as Giratina, Aegislash and Mega Tyranitar, as it is a nearly unresisted STAB coverage. (make note that it threatens a lot of defensive Pokemon, and this is relevant because that helps it wallbreak and sweep) Its typing also provides good resistances, therefore allowing Mega Gyarados to check Primal Kyogre and most Psychic-types, as well as allow it to imposterproof itself with the Poison Heal and Unaware. It can also check setup with its decent bulk and a resistance to the moves Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. (mention that these are common setup sweeper moves)

However, It is easily prepared for with its amount of weaknesses and can easily be surprised with coverage moves from Pokemon it should check such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y or Moonblast from Poison Heal Primal Kyogre. (not sure that anyone ever intentionally 'prepares for' mega gyarados. i think it's better to phrase this as 'accounted for by most teams' as any typical coverage to hit dark or steel or bulky waters will hit it) Having an Electric- and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados especially weak to Pokemon such as Zekrom and U-turn users like Giratina or Primal Kyogre, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting from Pokemon such as Xerneas or Mega Gengar and strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, greatly denies Mega Gyarados’s ability to check threats. It is also susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards and status as well as a weakness to common pivot moves in U-turn and Volt Switch from defensive threats and despises any sort of status, as it wears down Mega Gyarados quickly, making it unable to do its job effectively.

Moves
========
Knock Off can remove foe's items such as Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles. Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Primal Kyogre and allows Mega Gyarados to become an offensive threat. It can also hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for super effective damage. (mention that it immediately offensively punishes setup sweepers) Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas or Slaking and certain setup sweepers that threaten to 2HKO Mega Gyarados such as Life Orb Triage Mega Rayquaza or Offensive Poison Heal Primal Kyogre, but it is bounced back by Magic Bounce, cannot go through a Substitute and does not deal damage. Shore Up increases Mega Gyarados’ longevity so it can continuously tank hits. U-turn gains momentum for Mega Gyarados against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina or Zygarde-C. Anchor Shot traps Imposter users such as Chansey and PP stalls them as well as defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them, although it will leave Mega Gyarados at an awkward spot after Chansey has been stalled out and allows the foe to gain a free switch against you. It also allows Mega Gyarados to hit Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Set Details
========
Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by powder moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza or Mega Mewtwo Y so they cannot stop Mega Gyarados from stopping their sweep. Unaware ignores boosts that the foe has accumulated, so as to check common setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre or Yveltal and those with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike and Moongeist Beam. (and even those with -moves-, you're not just flat checking those moves themselves) 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, giving it the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief. A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’ lower physical bulk, allowing it to survive at least 2 Facade from Regigigas and a +6 Necrozma-Dusk-Mane's Sunsteel Strike, as well as win Spectral Thief wars, which is to underspeed opposing Spectral Thief users. Alternatively, a Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be, so as to better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo Y or Primal Kyogre.

Usage Tips
========
Being resistant to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers such as Yveltal or Primal Kyogre, as they ignore abilities and increase power by stat boost respectively. (note that this only matters because they prevent other typical walls such as fur coat chansey or regenvest from walling) Therefore, make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a setup sweeper still exists in the opposing team. Scout for Fairy- and Fighting-type coverage from Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Mega Mewtwo Y and Primal Kyogre. Be aware of strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, Pheromosa and Mega Garchomp, as they can deal massive even unboosted. Mega Gyarados should be aware of switching into defensive threats due to its weakness to pivot moves and therefore allowing the foe to gain momentum while taking a lot of damage. (and its weakness to knock off and status moves) It can alternatively be used to bring in wallbreakers such as Mega Gengar, Kartana or Mega Mewtwo X that require slow momentum support such as with a slow U-turn. Knock Off should be used to remove items such as Eviolite from Chansey and Safety Goggles or Leftovers from defensive Pokemon to allow teammates to break through them with more ease. Mega Gyarados should be used with care as it can be weakened rather quickly from switching into strong attacks repeatedly, allowing setup sweepers to break through Mega Gyarados. (thus, if not checking setup sweepers, either use Knock Off or U-turn out in a timely manner) Keep entry hazards off the field as they chip down Mega Gyarados fairly quickly, forcing it to repeatedly use its healing move and make it unable to check setup sweepers effectively.

Team Options
========
Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon. Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Solgaleo (Necrozma-DM is a better example here) is useful as Mega Gyarados is easily weakened by constantly switching into entry hazards and allows the foe to break through Mega Gyarados more easily. Imposter users such as Chansey can be used to scout for super effective coverage from Pokemon such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y or Secret Sword from Mega Gengar. Magic Bounce users such as Registeel or Giratina are useful in pressuring non-Mold Breaker hazard setters or status effects targeted at Mega Gyarados. As Mega Gyarados helps imposterproof setup sweepers on its own team by stealing boosts imposted by Imposter users, setup sweepers that are not able to imposterproof themselves such as Yveltal or Mega Mewtwo Y can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados has a partner. (yveltal is a bad example because it can sometimes self-Imposter-proof. Just keep MMY here) A good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados such as Zygarde-C or Giratina are good options, as they can help Mega Gyarados with taking physical hits from the likes of Mega Mewtwo X or Regigigas. Status absorbers such as Poison Heal or Magic Bounce users helps Mega Gyarados with status effects. Steel-types such as Solgaleo, Registeel and Aegislash can help Mega Gyarados with its Fairy-type weakness as well as help it with -ate users, and Aegislash, in particular, can help with Mega Gyarados' Fighting-type weakness. An alternative way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel to guarantee strong physical setup sweepers will not overwhelm Mega Gyarados with their powerful attacks. (note that this is role redundancy; useful only if there is a specific weakness in this regard) Pokemon able to set up entry hazards are very useful, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware, so Stealth Rock users such as Ferrothorn or Mega Audino work well. (don't include mentions here - there's no such thing as a dedicated stealth rock user in BH, so if you want to mention Ferrothorn / MAudino, you need to mention other reasons that make them good partners as well. Id rather you just repeat partners you've already mentioned and stress that many good defensive partners already have room for SR making them even better)

Moves
========
Shift Gear boosts Mega Gyarados' Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper; Shell Smash can boost Mega Gyarados' Attack and speed by 2 stages, instantly turning it into a threatening sweeper, although it lowers its defenses; Coil can be used to increase Mega Gyarados' Attack, Accuracy and Defense, allowing Crabhammer or Icicle Crash to hit with more accuracy and take hits from physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X or Kartana. (MMX and kart are bad examples because they still hit really hard - better example would be Regigigas, PDon, and Necrozma-DM; bulky tanks found on bulkier teams) Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados' most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit; Icicle Crash can be used to threaten common physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C, as well as hit Primal Groudon under harsh sunlight. Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super-effective damage, and break through Unaware users, however, a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage and has rather low PP. (put this at the end of the paragraph, after you've mentioned every slashed move already) Knock Off is a powerful STAB for Mega Gyarados and is important for removing foe's items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Mega Audino; Power Trip should mainly be used with Shell Smash or Coil, as they boost Power Trip's power quicker and provide Mega Gyarados with more offensive presence. (It's not because it boosts power more quickly - just say it's because it's a more offensive option that is better suited to coil/shell smash sets. SS wants it to sweep, and coil wants it to wallbreak. SG is fine with Knock Off because it kind of merges the two roles.) Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados as well as physical attackers that may try to switch in on Mega Gyarados. Sacred Fire is an alternative to Will-O-Wisp to burn Shedinja and Imposter users, as well as not being affected by Taunt, although it is generally viable as it has significantly less PP, has a chance to not burn the aforementioned targets, making it a rather shaky option. (same as with sunsteel strike - put this at the end of the paragraph) Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, allowing another teammate to come in and threaten them. (or, mainly, giving it more opportunities to setup and wallbreak) It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off being able to remove Safety Goggles. (and doesn't have to worry about magic bounce) Spiky Shield can be used to chip down -ate users trying to revenge kill Mega Gyarados, KO (non Protective Pads) Shedinja as it tries to wall Mega Gyarados and scout for surprise super effective moves from Pokemon such as Dialga or Mega Mewtwo Y. (and king's shield, which lowers the attack of -ate priority users to prevent them from revenge killing, though this is only for SSMash and SGear. Finally, they all let you stall and recover more HP) However, an important utility move may be forgone, which may cripple common physical threats or give Mega Gyarados opportunities to set up

Set Details
========
Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal. Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados' longevity, as well as prevent Mega Gyarados from being statused with any other status and imposterproofs itself. It also allows Mega Gyarados to use Will-O-Wisp or Toxic (Spore, not Toxic) without fearing Magic Bounce. An Adamant nature with maximum Attack investment ensures Mega Gyarados hits as hard as possible, allowing it to 2HKO Mega Mewtwo X, Xerneas and Mega Audino. 0 Speed investment with a Brave nature on Coil or Shell Smash sets can be used to underspeed most Spectral Thief or Core Enforcer users, allowing it to set up more easily (Spoke with GL Volkner on this, move the 0 speed investment mention for Shell Smash / Shift Gear specifically to OO, keep it here for coil. Mention that it specifically lets you avoid being spectral thiefed the turn you set up, at the cost of a huge amount of speed. qualify that most spectral thief users can't beat you anyway even after they've stolen your boosts so the utility of this is extremely limited)

Usage Tips
========
Mega Gyarados should try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery. It should switch in through slow VoltTurn from Pokemon such as Registeel or Mega Audino so Mega Gyarados can activate its Toxic Orb and take the least amount of damage before setting up. Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it. Try and predict opposing Shedinjas to come in and use Will-O-Wisp to cripple them, as this can help Mega Gyarados' sweep without being revenge killed. If Mega Gyarados is not running Sunsteel Strike and Will-O-Wisp, weaken Fairy-types such as Mega Audino and get rid of Shedinja beforehand, as they are problematic for Mega Gyarados' sweep. (instead of Fairy-types, most of which are too weak to be a threat and are hit by Crabhammer, say Fur Coat / Unaware users, that can use their abilities to wall gyarados even if it sets up; merge this with the next sentence) If Prankster, Unaware or Fur Coat users are still on the opposing teams, try and lure them out and weaken them with the combination of Knock Off and Will-O-Wisp and use teammates to help further weaken them, aiding Mega Gyarados in sweeping more easily late-game when these Pokemon have been removed or weakened. If Mega Gyarados is not running Ice-type coverage, Zygarde-C should be eliminated in order for Mega Gyarados to set up without having to worry about Zygarde-C stopping its sweep. Although Mega Gyarados is generally able to set up against most defensive threats, it should be aware of Spectral Thief and Core Enforcer, which steals its boosts and suppresses Poison Heal from working respectively. Mega Gyarados should try and cripple physical attackers trying to switch in with Will-O-Wisp

Team Options
========
-ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as RegenVest Dialga, Soundproof Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon are good teammates. Checks to Fighting and Fairy-types such as Aegislash, Slowbro-Mega and Magearna are useful, and they are also able to lure in Steel-types and give Mega Gyarados an opening to set up. Slow pivots such as Aegislash, Mega Audino or Giratina can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up. Entry hazards setters are good partners, as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon and allows Mega Gyarados to get KOs more easily. Powerful special wallbreakers such as Tinted Lens Mega Mewtwo Y and Aerilate Mega Rayquaza with the ability to break through physical Unaware walls such as Zygarde-C and Mega Gyarados are useful, as Mega Gyarados struggles to do much damage to them even with Sunsteel Strike. Scout for Spectral Thief so as to prevent Mega Gyarados' stat boosts from being stolen, so Pokemon immune to it such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful. Imposter users such as Chansey can scout for super effective moves from Mega Mewtwo Y or Primal Kyogre, as well as sets Pixilate Mega Diancie or Unaware users such as Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C, so as to better prepare for Mega Gyarados's sweep. (also scouts for crippling utility moves such as CE and Spectral so you know what you can set up on) Fairy-types that resist Fighting-type moves such as Xerneas or Tapu Fini can help Mega Gyarados keep Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo X or Pheromosa in check are good partners, as they can also help take Core Enforcer for Mega Gyarados (and beat defensive dragon types like giratina and zygc)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
(include 0 iv mentions for Shift Gear and Shell Smash in the beginning) Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as Mega Gyarados's speed is only mediocre without boosting. Fur Coat can be used for better mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C. A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairy quickly by either Prankster Haze or Imposter Users, (not imposter users, as the point is it can't be stopped by Imposter easily, say priority attackers instead) as it has no longevity and can only be used once. A set with Shell Smash and Dazzling is viable as it cannot be easily revenged killed by -ate users, however it requires extensive team support and can be stopped by Prankster Haze users such as Aegislash or Primal Kyogre as well as physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon. A set with Shell Smash and Simple is also viable, but unlike the above Shell Smash set, it can be easily revenged killed by priority users and can be stopped by Prankster Haze or Unaware walls such as Mega Audino or Zygarde-C. It is also a one-time opportunity for setup, having almost no longevity. A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy and Fighting-types, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel or Solgaleo. (Necrozma DM > Solgaleo, and move this up to the front because it's one of the more viable OO options) Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear in the Poison Heal set as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados not to get PP stalled, however Mega Gyarados usually appreciates the additional speed boost from Shift Gear.

Checks and Counters
===================

(and they can even beat offensive versions before it accumuluates too many boosts - Xern can just KO and POgre either outboosts or has spectral thief usually)

**Physical attacks**: Mega Gyarados’ physical bulk is rather low for an Unaware wall, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados out easily. Fighting-type coverage is also dangerous as most of them are physical and can easily overwhelm Mega Gyarados. However, they are unable to switch in directly to the Poison Heal set as Mega Gyarados can knock off their boosting items or cripple them with Will-O-Wisp

**Physically defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon are able to take hits from offensive Mega Gyarados and either remove Mega Gyarados's boosts or use it as setup fodder respectively. Primal Groudon is an exceptional check to Mega Gyarados as it is immune to Water-type attacks and its Red Orb cannot be knocked off.

**Residual damage and Pivot moves**: Status greatly dampens Mega Gyarados’ ability to be an Unaware Pokemon or setup sweeper, as they either cripple its defensive capability or puts its setup on a timer. Mega Gyarados is weak to both Pivot moves and is a deadweight against VoltTurn teams (i'd just call this **common support moves** and add core enforcer, knock off, and spectral thief)

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities

Also please be careful of your grammar before you send it to GP because there are a lot of obvious mistakes you can catch yourself

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

=============

===================

Implemented, but just wanted to give some time if other QC members still have any suggestions before I hand this over to GP?

There were a few instances where some words were missing so I didn't know what you meant. i tried to fix them according to what i thought was your meaning, but I may have gotten the meaning wrong so fix accordingly.

[OVERVIEW]
Mega Gyarados has a good attack Attack stat and decent Water / Dark (add spaces) typing, allowing it to threaten a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Aegislash, and Mega Tyranitar and serve as a wallbreaker. Its typing also provides good resistances, therefore allowing Mega Gyarados to check Primal Kyogre and most Psychic-types, as well as allowing it to imposterproof (not sure on conventions here when it comes to capitalization/hyphens) itself with the Poison Heal and Unaware. It can also check setup sweepers with its decent bulk and a resistance to common moves that setup sweepers bring such as Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. Although Mega Gyarados does not have the best speed Speed stat, it is fast enough to wallbreak and sweep after setting up, (AC) while it is slow enough to get a free switch on offensive threats it checks.

However, It it is easily accounted for with its amount of weaknesses and can easily be surprised with coverage moves from Pokemon it should check such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y or Moonblast from Poison Heal Primal Kyogre. Having an Electric- and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados especially weak to Pokemon such as Zekrom and U-turn users like Giratina or Primal Kyogre, as well as being weak to common Fairy- and Fighting-type coverage in Fairy and Fighting from Pokemon such as Xerneas or Mega Gengar and strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X. (RC, change to period) This greatly denies Mega Gyarados’s ability to check threats. It is also susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards and status as well as and has (status is mentioned later) a weakness to common pivot moves in U-turn and Volt Switch from defensive threats. (add period) and It also despises any sort of damaging status, as it wears down Mega Gyarados quickly, making it unable to do its job effectively.

Knock Off can remove foe's foes' items such as Eviolite, Leftovers and Safety Goggles. Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Primal Kyogre and punish these sweepers offensively. It can also hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for super effective damage. Topsy-Turvy (add hyphen) can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas or Slaking and certain setup sweepers that threaten to 2HKO Mega Gyarados such as Life Orb Triage Mega Rayquaza or Offensive offensive Poison Heal Primal Kyogre, but it is bounced back by Magic Bounce, cannot go through a Substitute, (AC) and does not deal damage. Shore Up increases Mega Gyarados’s longevity so it can continuously tank hits. U-turn gains momentum for Mega Gyarados against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina or Zygarde-C. Anchor Shot traps Imposter users such as Chansey and lets Gyarados PP stalls them as well as trapping defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off their items or weaken them, although it will leave Mega Gyarados at an awkward spot after Chansey has been stalled out and allows the foe to gain a free switch against you. It also allows Mega Gyarados to trap defensive Pokemon so it can Knock Off their item or weaken them, along with hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by powder moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza or Mega Mewtwo Y so they cannot stop Mega Gyarados from stopping their sweep. Unaware ignores boosts that the foe has accumulated, so as to check common setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre or Yveltal, (AC) and even those with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike, or and Moongeist Beam. 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, giving it the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief. Alternatively, a Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be, so as to better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo Y or Primal Kyogre.

Usage Tips
========
Being resistant to Resisting Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power, and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers such as Yveltal or Primal Kyogre, as they these moves ignore abilities and or increase power by stat boost respectively, preventing walls such as Fur Coat Chansey or RegenVest users to wall them. Therefore, make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a setup sweeper still exists in the opposing team. Scout for Fairy- and Fighting-type coverage from Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Primal Kyogre. Be aware of strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, Pheromosa, and Mega Garchomp, as they can deal massive damage, even unboosted. Mega Gyarados should be aware of careful when switching into defensive threats due to its vulnerability to Knock Off (RC) and poor stats and or common pivot moves users which allows the foe to gain momentum while taking dealing a lot of damage. (the sentence is grammatically wrong but I'm not sure what it's supposed to mean so this is my best guess) It can alternatively be used to bring in wallbreakers that require slow momentum support such as with a slow U-turn. If not checking setup sweepers, use Knock Off to remove items from foe's defensive Pokemon or U-turn to gain a free switch. Keep entry hazards off the field as they chip down Mega Gyarados fairly quickly, forcing it to repeatedly use its healing move and make making it unable to check setup sweepers effectively.

Team Options
========
Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon. Hazard removal such as Defog Giratina or Rapid Spin Necrozma-DM is useful, (AC) as Mega Gyarados is easily weakened by constantly switching into entry hazards, (AC) and allows allowing the foe to break through Mega Gyarados more easily. Imposter users such as Chansey can be used to scout for super effective coverage from Pokemon such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y or Secret Sword from Mega Gengar. Magic Bounce users such as Registeel or Giratina are useful in for pressuring non-Mold Breaker hazard setters or status effects targeted at Mega Gyarados. As Mega Gyarados helps imposterproof setup sweepers on its own team by stealing boosts imposted by Imposter users, setup sweepers that are not able to imposterproof themselves such as Mega Mewtwo Y can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados as a partner. A good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados such as Zygarde-C or Giratina are is a good options, as they it can help Mega Gyarados with taking physical hits from the likes of Mega Mewtwo X or Regigigas. Status absorbers such as Poison Heal or Magic Bounce users helps Mega Gyarados with status effects. Steel-types such as Solgaleo, Registeel, and Aegislash can help Mega Gyarados with its Fairy-type weakness as well as help it with -ate users, (AC) and Aegislash, in particular, can help with Mega Gyarados' Fighting-type weakness. If the team is particularly weak to certain physical setup sweepers such as Mega Mewtwo X, another way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel will be useful. Pokemon able to set up entry hazards are very useful, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once opponent knows you are Unaware.

Shift Gear boosts Mega Gyarados' Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper, (AC, remove semicolon) while Shell Smash can boost Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed by 2 stages, instantly turning it into a threatening sweeper, although it lowers its defenses. Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados' most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit, (AC, remove semicolon) but Icicle Crash can be used to threaten common physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C, as well as hit Primal Groudon under harsh sunlight. Knock Off is a powerful STAB for Mega Gyarados and is important for removing foe's items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or Mega Audino and is usually used with Shift Gear, (AC, remove semicolon) while Power Trip is a more offensive option used with Shell Smash or Coil, allowing Mega Gyarados to sweep and wall breaker respectively. Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados as well as physical attackers that may try to switch in on Mega Gyarados. Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, giving it more opportunities to setup or wallbreak. It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off being able to remove Safety Goggles and does not fear Magic Bounce due to Poison Heal. Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super effective damage, and break through Unaware users, however, a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage and has rather low PP. Spiky Shield can be used to chip down -ate users trying to revenge kill Mega Gyarados, KO non-Protective Pads Shedinja if it tries to wall Mega Gyarados, (AC) and scout for surprise super effective moves from Pokemon such as Dialga or Mega Mewtwo Y. King's Shield is another alternative which lowers the attack of -ate priority users to prevent them from revenge killing Mega Gyarados, although it is mostly used for sets with Sell Smash and Shift Gear. Both of these shield moves allow Mega Gyarados to stall and recover more health. (i'm assuming you don't mean pp stall. if you do, add the "PP" in) However, an important utility move may must be forgone, which may cripple common physical threats or give Mega Gyarados less opportunities to set up.

Set Details
========
Toxic Orb is mandatory for Mega Gyarados to activate Poison Heal. Poison Heal improves Mega Gyarados' longevity, as well as prevents Mega Gyarados from being statused with any other status, (AC) and imposterproofs itself. 0 Speed investment with a Brave nature on Coil sets can be used to underspeed most Spectral Thief or Core Enforcer users, allowing it to set up more easily. (why does underspeeding core enforcer users matter?)

Usage Tips
========
Mega Gyarados should try to activate Toxic Orb as soon as possible, as Knock Off or any status effects aside from Toxic will leave it with no recovery. It should switch in through slow VoltTurn so Mega Gyarados can activate its Toxic Orb and take the least amount of damage before setting up. Do not set up Mega Gyarados before -ate users such as Pixilate Mega Diancie and Galvanize Zekrom have been eliminated, as they can easily revenge kill it. Try and predict opposing Shedinja to come in and use Will-O-Wisp to cripple them, as this can help Mega Gyarados' sweep without being revenge killed. If Mega Gyarados is not running Sunsteel Strike and Will-O-Wisp, you should lure them out and weaken Shedinja as well as Prankster, Unaware, (AC) or Fur Coat users such as Mega Audino or Zygarde-C with the combination of Knock Off and Will-O-Wisp and use teammates to help further weaken them, as they are able to wall Mega Gyarados even if it sets up. Mega Gyarados should try and cripple physical attackers trying to switch in with Will-O-Wisp.

Team Options
========
-ate users such as Mega Diancie or Zekrom revenge kill Mega Gyarados very easily, so Pokemon that can deal with them such as RegenVest Dialga, Soundproof Zygarde-C, and Primal Groudon are good teammates. Checks to Fighting- (RC, add hyphen) and Fairy-types such as Aegislash, Slowbro-Mega and Magearna are useful, and they are also able to lure in Steel-types and give Mega Gyarados an opening to set up. Slow pivots such as Aegislash, Mega Audino, or Giratina can safely allow Mega Gyarados to come on the field and set up. Entry hazards setters are good partners, as entry hazards get rid of Shedinja, break potential Focus Sash on Pokemon, (AC) and allows Mega Gyarados to get KOs more easily. Pokemon immune to Spectral Thief such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful to scout for it Scout for Spectral Thief so as to prevent Mega Gyarados' stat boosts from being stolen, so Pokemon immune to it such as Mega Audino and Arceus are useful. Imposter users such as Chansey can scout for super effective moves from Mega Mewtwo Y, (AC) or Primal Kyogre, (AC) or Unaware users such as Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C (RC) and utility moves such as Core Enforcer and Spectral Thief so as to better prepare for Mega Gyarados's sweep. Fairy-types that resist Fighting-type moves such as Xerneas or Tapu Fini can help Mega Gyarados keep Fighting-type Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo X or Pheromosa in check and are good partners, as they can also help take Core Enforcer for Mega Gyarados and keep defensive Dragon-types like Giratina and Zygarde-C in check.

Other Options
=============
0 IVs with a Brave nature can be used for Shift Gear and Shell Smash set to avoid its boosts being stolen the turn it sets up at the cost of a huge amount of speed. However, since most Spectral Thief users cannot beat Mega Gyarados one on one even after stealing its boosts, its utility is limited. A RegenVest set is viable, but Mega Gyarados is weak to both U-turn and Volt Switch, as well as being weak to common coverage in Fairy- (add hyphen) and Fighting-types moves, making it not as effective as other RegenVest users such as Registeel or Necrozma-DM. Choice Band Mega Gyarados with Mold Breaker or Tough Claws can be used as a wallbreaker, but it is easily revenged killed, as Mega Gyarados's speed is only mediocre without boosting. Fur Coat can be used for better mixed bulk, but that role is better performed by Chansey, Primal Kyogre or Zygarde-C. A Shell Smash set with White Herb and Unburden is usable, but it is stopped fairly ml lquickly (idk if that was just a typo or if you were trying to say something) by either Prankster Haze or priority attackers, as it has no longevity and can only be used once. A set with Shell Smash and Dazzling is viable as it cannot be easily revenged killed by -ate users, however it requires extensive team support and can be stopped by Prankster Haze users such as Aegislash or Primal Kyogre, (AC) as well as physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon. Dragon Dance can be used over Shift Gear in the Poison Heal set as it has more PP, allowing Mega Gyarados to not to get PP stalled, however Mega Gyarados usually appreciates the additional speed boost from Shift Gear.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Fairy-type Pokemon and coverage**: Mega Gyarados struggles to break past bulky Fairy-types such as Xerneas and Mega Audino is easily KOed by a super effective move such as Light of Ruin or Pixilated Boomburst from offensive Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie. Mega Gyarados is also overwhelmed by common Fairy-type coverage by Pokemon it checks such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y.

**-ate users**: -ate users, especially Pixilate and Galvanize, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Mewtwo X, and Zekrom, (AC) can threaten Mega Gyarados out with their powerful super effective attacks, although they require prior damage on Mega Gyarados, as neither of them can KO Mega Gyarados from max health, and may get KOed in return by a boosted attack from Mega Gyarados (RC) as well as not appreciating or have their items being knocked off, which they do not appreciate.

**Bulky Poison Heal users**: Poison Heal users such as Xerneas and Primal Kyogre do not mind having their Toxic Orbs knocked off after it has been activated. They are also able to beat both defensive and offensive variants of Mega Gyarados if it has not accumulated much many boosts as Xerneas can KO with a powerful Moonblast and Primal Kyogre can either outboost or has use Spectral Thief.

**Physical attacks**: Mega Gyarados’s physical bulk is rather low, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados out easily. Fighting-type coverage is also dangerous as most of them are physical and can easily overwhelm Mega Gyarados. However, they are unable to switch in directly to the Poison Heal set as Mega Gyarados can knock off their boosting items or cripple them with Will-O-Wisp.

**Physically defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon are able to take hits from offensive Mega Gyarados and either remove Mega Gyarados's boosts or use it as setup fodder respectively. Primal Groudon is an exceptionally good check to offensive Mega Gyarados as it is immune to Water-type attacks and its Red Orb cannot be knocked off.

**Common Support Moves**: Status greatly dampens Mega Gyarados’s ability to be an effective Unaware Pokemon or setup sweeper, (still an unaware mon, just bad) as they either cripple its defensive capability or puts its setup on a timer. Mega Gyarados is vulnerable to Core Enforcer, Knock Off, and Spectral Thief and is a deadweight against VoltTurn.

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities.

AM GP Check
Hey thanks for the GP check :] I'm not sure about implementing the part in the second set details, as Core Enforcer's secondary effect only activates if the user is slower than the foe and that information can be found easily, leading me to think that it is unnecessary for me to mention it in my analysis.

[OVERVIEW]
Mega Gyarados's has a good Attack stat and decent Water / Dark typing (RC) allowing allow it to threaten a lot of defensive Pokemon such as Giratina, Aegislash, and Mega Tyranitar and serve as a wallbreaker. Its typing also provides good resistances, allowing Mega Gyarados to check Primal Kyogre and most Psychic-types, as well as allowing it to imposterproof Imposter-proof itself with the Poison Heal and or Unaware. It can also check setup sweepers with its decent bulk and a resistance to common moves that setup sweepers bring such as Stored Power, Power Trip, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. Although Mega Gyarados does not have the best Speed stat, it is fast enough to wallbreak and sweep after setting up while slow enough to get a free switch on offensive threats it checks. (don't understand this last part)

However, it Mega Gyarados is easily accounted for with its amount number of weaknesses and can easily be surprised with coverage moves from Pokemon it should check such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y or and Moonblast from Poison Heal Primal Kyogre. Having an Electric- and Bug-type weakness makes Mega Gyarados especially weak to Pokemon such as Zekrom and U-turn users like Giratina or and Primal Kyogre, as well as and it's also susceptible to common coverage in Fairy- and Fighting-type moves from Pokemon such as Xerneas ori and Mega Gengar and strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X. This greatly denies compromises Mega Gyarados’s Gyarados's (slant apostrophe) ability to check threats. It is also susceptible to being worn down quickly by entry hazards and has a weakness to common pivot moves in U-turn and Volt Switch from defensive threats. It also despises any sort of damaging status, as it wears down Mega Gyarados quickly, making it unable to do its job effectively.

Moves
========
Knock Off can remove foes' items such as Eviolite, Leftovers, (AC) and Safety Goggles. Spectral Thief steals boosts from setup sweepers such as Yveltal, Groudon, and Primal Kyogre and punishes these sweepers offensively. It can also hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for super effective damage. Topsy Turvy can be used on Normal-types such as Regigigas or and Slaking and certain setup sweepers that threaten to 2HKO Mega Gyarados such as Life Orb Triage Mega Rayquaza or and offensive Poison Heal Primal Kyogre, but it is bounced back by Magic Bounce, cannot go through a Substitute, (AC) and does not deal damage. Shore Up increases Mega Gyarados’s longevity so it can continuously tank hits. U-turn gains momentum for Mega Gyarados against defensive Pokemon such as Giratina or and Zygarde-C. Alternatively, Anchor Shot lets Mega Gyarados traps trap Imposter users such as Chansey and PP stall them, although it will leave Mega Gyarados at in an awkward spot after Chansey has been stalled out and allows the foe to gain a free switch against you it. It also allows Mega Gyarados to trap defensive Pokemon so Mega Gyarados can either Knock Off remove their items with Knock Off or weaken them, along with hitting Fairy-types for super effective damage.

Set Details
========
Safety Goggles prevents Mega Gyarados from being affected by powder moves like Spore from Pokemon such as Mega Rayquaza or and Mega Mewtwo Y so they cannot stop Mega Gyarados from stopping their sweep. Unaware ignores boosts that the foe has accumulated (RC) so as to check common setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre or and Yveltal, even those with Power Trip, Stored Power, Sunsteel Strike, and Moongeist Beam. 0 Speed IVs ensure Mega Gyarados is as slow as possible, giving it the slowest possible U-turn and Spectral Thief. 44 Speed EVs can be used to outspeed Mega Mewtwo Y at +2 after stealing its boosts with Spectral Thief. A Relaxed nature is used to patch up Mega Gyarados’s lower physical bulk, allowing it to survive at least 2 Facades from Regigigas and a +6 Necrozma-DM's Sunsteel Strike, as well as win Spectral Thief wars by underspeeding opposing Spectral Thief users. Alternatively, a Sassy nature can be used so Mega Gyarados can be more specially defensive if the team requires it to be (RC) so as to better check specially offensive Pokemon such as Mega Mewtwo Y or and Primal Kyogre.

Usage Tips
========
Resisting A resistance to Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, Stored Power, and Power Trip helps Mega Gyarados check setup sweepers such as Yveltal or and Primal Kyogre, as these moves ignore abilities or increase power by stat boost respectively, preventing prevent walls such as Fur Coat Chansey or RegenVest users to wall from walling them. Therefore, make sure Mega Gyarados stays healthy if a setup sweeper still exists in the opposing team. Scout for Fairy- and Fighting-type coverage from Pokemon such as Mega Gengar, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Primal Kyogre. Be aware wary of strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X, Pheromosa, and Mega Garchomp, as they can deal massive damage even unboosted. Mega Gyarados should be careful when switching into defensive threats due to its vulnerability to Knock Off or common pivoting moves which that allow the foe to gain momentum while dealing a lot of damage, and it can be weakened rather quickly from switching into strong attacks repeatedly, allowing setup sweepers to break through it. It can be used to bring in wallbreakers that require slow momentum support with a slow U-turn. If not checking setup sweepers, use Knock Off to remove items from foe's defensive Pokemon or U-turn to gain a free switch. Keep entry hazards off the field, (AC) as they chip down Mega Gyarados fairly quickly, forcing it to repeatedly use its healing move and making it unable to check setup sweepers effectively.

Team Options
========
Mega Gyarados works well on teams that are weak to setup sweepers and is an option over Prankster Haze users or other Unaware Pokemon. Entry hazard removal from Pokemon such as Defog Giratina or and Rapid Spin Necrozma-DM is useful, (AC) as Mega Gyarados is easily weakened by constantly switching into entry hazards, allowing the foe to break through Mega Gyarados it more easily. Imposter users such as Chansey can be used to scout for super effective coverage from Pokemon such as Fleur Cannon Mega Mewtwo Y or and Secret Sword Mega Gengar. Magic Bounce users such as Registeel or and Giratina are useful for pressuring non-Mold Breaker hazard setters or status effects targeted at Mega Gyarados. As Mega Gyarados helps Imposter-proof (AH) setup sweepers on its own team by stealing their boosts imposted by Imposter users, setup sweepers that are not able to Imposter-proof (AH) themselves such as Mega Mewtwo Y can take advantage of having Mega Gyarados as a partner. A good physical tank alongside Mega Gyarados such as Zygarde-C or Giratina is a good option, as it can help Mega Gyarados with taking physical hits from the likes of Mega Mewtwo X or and Regigigas. Status absorbers such as Poison Heal or Magic Bounce users help Mega Gyarados with status effects. Steel-types such as Solgaleo, Registeel, and Aegislash can help Mega Gyarados with its Fairy-type weakness as well as help it with -ate users, and Aegislash, in particular, can help with Mega Gyarados's Fighting-type weakness. If the team is particularly weak to certain physical setup sweepers such as Mega Mewtwo X, another way of stopping setup such as Prankster Haze Zygarde-C or Registeel will be useful. Pokemon able to set up entry hazards are very useful, as Mega Gyarados forces a lot of switches once the opponent knows you are it is running Unaware.

Moves
========
Shift Gear boosts and Shell Smash boost Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed, allowing it to turn into a threatening sweeper; (SC) while Shell Smash can boost gives a greater boost to Mega Gyarados's Attack and Speed by 2 stages, instantly turning it into a threatening sweeper, although it also lowers its defenses. Coil can be used to increase Mega Gyarados' Attack, Accuracy, and Defense, allowing Crabhammer or Icicle Crash to hit with more accuracy and letting Mega Gyarados take hits from physical attackers such as Regigigas and Primal Groudon. Crabhammer is Mega Gyarados' most powerful physical STAB move and has a high chance for a critical hit, but Icicle Crash can be used to threaten common physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C (RC) as well as hit Primal Groudon under harsh sunlight. Knock Off is a powerful STAB for Mega Gyarados and is important for removing foe's items like Eviolite from Imposter users and Leftovers from defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C or and Mega Audino and is usually used with Shift Gear, (AC) while Power Trip is a more offensive option used with Shell Smash or Coil, allowing Mega Gyarados to sweep and wall breaker respectively or wallbreak, respectively. Will-O-Wisp can be used to cripple Shedinja and Imposter users trying to come in on Mega Gyarados as well as physical attackers that may try to switch in on Mega Gyarados. Spore can be used to put Imposter users and defensive checks to sleep, giving it Mega Gyarados more opportunities to setup or wallbreak. It is also able to take advantage of Knock Off's ability being able to remove Safety Goggles and does not fear cannot be reflected by Magic Bounce due to Poison Heal. Sunsteel Strike can be used to hit Shedinja, hit Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Audino for super effective damage, and break through Unaware users; (SC) however, a Water-type STAB move is usually preferred, (AC) as Sunsteel Strike provides only limited coverage and has rather low PP. Sacred Fire is an alternative to Will-O-Wisp to burn Shedinja and Imposter users in order to be not affected by Taunt, although it is generally less viable a rather shaky option, (AC) as it has significantly less PP and has a chance to not burn the aforementioned targets, making it a rather shaky option. Spiky Shield can be used to chip down -ate users trying to revenge kill Mega Gyarados, KO non-Protective Pads Shedinja if it tries to wall Mega Gyarados, (AC) and scout for surprise super effective moves from Pokemon such as Dialga or and Mega Mewtwo Y. King's Shield is another alternative which that lowers the Attack of -ate priority users to prevent them from revenge killing Mega Gyarados, although it is mostly used for sets with Sell Shell Smash and Shift Gear. Both of these shield moves allow Mega Gyarados to recover more health. However, an important utility move must be forgone, which may cripple common physical threats or give Mega Gyarados less fewer opportunities to set up.

If Mega Gyarados is not running Sunsteel Strike and or Will-O-Wisp, you should lure them (not sure if I understood this sentence well) out and weaken Shedinja as well as Prankster, Unaware, or Fur Coat users such as Mega Audino or and Zygarde-C with the combination of Knock Off and Will-O-Wisp (ok ya you just said you weren't running WoW) and use teammates to help further weaken them, as they are able to wall Mega Gyarados even if it sets up. If Mega Gyarados is not running Ice-type coverage, Zygarde-C should be eliminated in order for Mega Gyarados to set up without having to worry about Zygarde-C stopping its sweep. Checks and Counters
===================
Mega Gyarados is also overwhelmed by common Fairy-type coverage by from Pokemon it checks such as Fleur Cannon from Mega Mewtwo Y.

**-ate users**: -ate users, especially Pixilate and Galvanize, such as Mega Diancie, Mega Mewtwo X, and Zekrom can threaten Mega Gyarados out with their powerful super effective attacks, although they require prior damage on Mega Gyarados, as neither of them can KO Mega Gyarados from maximum health, and they may get KOed in return by a boosted attack from Mega Gyarados or have lose their items to Knocked Off, which they do not appreciate.

**Bulky Poison Heal Users**: Poison Heal users such as Xerneas and Primal Kyogre do not mind having their Toxic Orbs Orb knocked off after it has been activated. They are also able to beat both defensive and offensive variants of Mega Gyarados if it has not accumulated many boosts, (AC) as Xerneas can KO with a powerful Moonblast and Primal Kyogre can either outboost or has Spectral Thief.

**Physical Attacks**: Mega Gyarados’s physical bulk is rather low, so strong physical attackers such as Mega Mewtwo X and Kartana force Mega Gyarados it out easily. Fighting-type coverage is also dangerous, (AC) as most of them are physical and can easily overwhelm Mega Gyarados. However, they are unable to switch in directly to the Poison Heal set, (AC) as Mega Gyarados can knock off remove their boosting items with Knock Off or cripple them with Will-O-Wisp.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon are able to take hits from offensive Mega Gyarados and either remove Mega Gyarados's its boosts or use it as setup fodder, (AC) respectively. Primal Groudon is an exceptionally good check to offensive Mega Gyarados, (AC) as it is immune to Water-type attacks and cannot lose its Red Orb cannot be to Knocked Off.

**Common Support Moves**: Status affects Mega Gyarados’s ability to be an effective Unaware Pokemon (change this to a more direct role tbh) or setup sweeper, as they either cripple nullify its defensive capability or puts its setup put it on a timer. Mega Gyarados also is vulnerable to Core Enforcer, Knock Off, and Spectral Thief and is deadweight dead weight against VoltTurn.

**Mold Breaker**: Pokemon with Mold Breaker such as Mega Garchomp or Mega Gengar are able to break through Unaware Mega Gyarados, as Mold Breaker ignores abilities.

Thanks for the GP check TDP. I rephrased the sentence that you didn't understand in the first paragraph in the Overview and the Usage Tips of Poison Heal Setup, do you mind checking them?
