Okay, now that I got the slate coded, I will now start a conversation about the meta. I've played a decent amount of games and got to try a few mons and here are my thoughts:
I think that the meta is relatively simple. I gotta say that Z-Moves are unbanned now but weren't back when I played the games, thus it is not entirely the same anymore. It played like SS OU just with more Pokemon and the addition of dexited moves. I'd say that the meta plays nice and isn't hard to build in. There are many Pokemon to check and deal with obviously, but building isn't hard and playing around threats that you have no check to on paper is relatively easy.
Onto the Pokemon, I will talk about all the ones I have played with or against:
- I didn't play much with it, but I'm fond of it. I tried a defensive and a bulky offensive set and I prefer the latter. The defensive one is nice on paper, but it really struggles against defensive Pokemon. However, with Junglosaur having a good match-up against most defensive Pokemon anyway, I think a bulky offensive set is the way to go. It is really bulky with limited investment but you can also invest less in speed and be bulkier. STABs + Earth Power and then a utility move like Knock Off, Leech Seed, Toxic or HP Fire makes a good set imo.
- This guy is hard to work with, but I think it has potential. I used Specs with Hydro Pump, Dark Pulse, Flip Turn and for spice Electric Terrain Pulse. In the one game I brought it, I faced Ferrothorn which made me regret not bringing Aura Sphere on it but Ferrothorn eating 40% from Dark Pulse made me realize that it is really strong. Its low speed is a short coming but not having investing in speed and allowing it to bulk up makes it easier to switch in and with Pokemon like Alomomola and Glowking, you can get it in easier and in the formers case, you can heal it. I think it has potential and it is a natural partner for Tapu Koko.
- Pikaraichu has some serious competition, but I think it can hold its own. Koko and Raging Bolt are faster and stronger respectively and have utilities that give it more stuff to do. Pikaraichu obviously has some tricks up its sleeve. First, it is a nice middle ground between their speed and power. Furthermore its movepool is really good. Its second STAB, Focus Blast, is really good honestly and Zap Cannon provides paralysis. Also Knock Off can be used on a fast pivot set.
- I think this guy might be broken. I played with it on a CB set and it wasn't that effective. Threatening for sure, but it didn't do much. I played against Tanny89k who run it with Punching Glove and 4 attacks (Drain Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Mach Punch) . This set was terrifying, doing 40% against Alomomola with Drain Punch. This makes me fear Bulk Up + 3 Attacks, Choice Band or maybe Tanny's set with Ice Hammer and CC over two of its moves. It is still slow and its bulk and defensive typing are bad, but like with Tortonate, Alomomola, Glowking and Slowbro allow it to come in easy. I need more testing with it, but it has so much promise.
- I tried to make this thing work but i never toxiced anything. I run Poison Jab, CC, Triple Axel and U-turn. The first three moves help against Clefable, Garganacl and Gliscor which normally absorb Toxic and U-turn can be annoying with Toxic Chain. I think it is nice when paired with Kingambit and Tapu Lele thanks to its U-turn.
- Again, limited play, but it is quite nice. I will talk about this more with the next Pokemon, but it is important to have a good bulky Ground-type. Kangesa fullfils that really nicely with its typing and Thick Fat. Obviously Stealth Rock and Knock Off are nice but missing U-turn is really something that you notice. I still think it worth using and experimenting with, also with offensive sets.
- Yeah this thing needs a nerf. It is fast and its power is immense. Meteor Beam and Adaptability is a massive nuke and almost all Ground-types, Pokemon that resist both its STABs, get nuked by Meteor Beam despite their bulk or they are Lando-T and Gliscor, which don't resist them. Same goes for the Steel-types except for Ferrothorn, who can survive a Meteor Beam and a follow-up, but it needs to KO it back, which isn't possibe with its arsenal.
- With Adamant Choice Band, it hits 768 Atk. This is almost enough to 2HKO Toxapex with CC. It is prediction reliant, which allows you to play around it, but you're team will eat hits left and right. I think that a Pokemon like Slowbro, especially now with its alternate forme, can deal with it easily, but the issue here is missing out on other bulky Water-types which might fit on your team better. Black Belt or Twisted Spoon sets might even be better since it allows you to make use of your decent STABs without thinking too much.
- I think this guy is bad honestly. Koko and Raging Bolt are top Electrics, so everyone else is fighting for 3rd place (at least until Zeraora comes in). I already talked about Pikaraichu. Gorochu has Levitate and can serve as a physical utility Pivot. Wooluster competes hard with Raging Bolt, but it does more damage after one turn of set-up and after two it can break most teams and it ignores Unaware. Stardem is a physical attacker which is also bulky, has recovery and utility in Rapid Spin. Clapback? Has Intimidate and that is honestly it. Flamethrower is nice but not nearly enough to use over other Pokemon.
