Not Exactly Helping
[OVERVIEW]
  • Excellent wallbreaker in the rain, able to hit very hard with Waterfall
  • Its speed tier above that of most scarfers in the format as long as rain is up, making it difficult to revenge kill
  • Good bulk allows it to come in on many resisted or neutral hits
  • Access to stealth rock allows it to take advantage of switches into Pokemon it can't break through on its own
  • Not nearly as threatening without rain as it loses its boost to Waterfall and its excellent speed tier
  • Can't easily break through some of the meta's best walls such as Arghonaut , Celesteela, and Tangrowth
  • Lack of recovery combined with its vulnerability to all entry hazards and need to repeatedly switch out then back in to replenish rain leads to it being worn down quickly
  • Its coverage options are only useful to hit a handful of Pokemon, so hard choices have to be made on whether you want to hit a specific Pokemon, like Jumbao with Ice Punch, or if you'd rather have the utility of Stealth Rock

Moves
========
  • Waterfall is Mega Swampert's primary attacking move, threatening to deal large amounts of damage to anything that doesn't resist it due to the power boost from rain
  • Earthquake picks up a number of KOs against certain Pokemon that Waterfall doesn't quite get, such as Magearna, Volkraken, regular and Ash Greninja, and Kitsunoh
  • Superpower combined with an Adamant nature will almost always KO a specially defensive Ferrothorn following an Earthquake and will deal a significant amount of damage to a physically defensive Ferrothorn as well. Superpower has a chance to OHKO Kartana while also dealing a bit more damage than Earthquake or Waterfall to Pokemon like Rotom Wash and Tangrowth
  • Ice Punch deals more damage to Pokemon such as Jumbao and Tangrowth than Mega Swampert's other attacks, though its low base power and lack of STAB make it largely ineffective against most other targets
  • Stealth Rock can be used to take advantage of switches that Mega Swampert can force and the chip damage will wear down the opposing Pokemon, making it easier for Swampert to sweep
  • Toxic punishes many of the common switch ins to Mega Swampert that it would otherwise have trouble dealing with, such as Tangrowth, Arghonaut, and Jumbao
Set Details
========
  • An Adamant nature lets Mega Swampert deal as much damage as possible while also outspeeding scarfers up to base 95 Speed
  • A Jolly nature trades in some power for the ability to outspeed scarfers up to base 109, notably outspeeding scarf Kartana and Jumbao, +2 Speed Magearna, and Volcarona after one Quiver Dance
  • Damp allows Swampert to come in on moves like Explosion before it has Mega Evolved
Usage Tips
========
  • Set up rain, click waterfall, switch out when rain stops, repeat
