Registeel is probably my second least favorite Pokemon after Watchog. Every time I face this stupid lump of metal, all it does it sit there and tank hits until it dies. It doesn't deal much damage. It can't heal itself. All it does is set up rocks and die twenty turns later.

Boosts to Defense and Special Defense and the neutralization of a weakness with Heatproof make Mega Registeel even tankier than before, but with a sizable boost to Attack and the addition of Heavy Slam to its moveset in Crown Tundra, the bastard can finally stop hitting like a pool noodle and deal respectable damage.

MFA Random Battles Format!!
So this one is a bit out of nowhere, but it turned out to be a really fun idea! I was messing around with modding the random team builder code in Showdown on a whim, and ended up putting together a Random Battle format for Megas for All. The idea behind it is that it would give people a chance to mess around with the options without the pressure of building entire teams, as well as a fun way of discovering Megas they maybe haven't tried yet! Who knows, maybe you'll find a new favorite?

When Dragon Heaven is back up, you'll be able to play it under the "Randomized Metas" section! Every team is guaranteed to have one Mega on it, whether its a canon one or one of ours.

At the time of this post, it is technically playable already on Dragon Heaven's backup server -- It's right under the main MFA formats in Pet Mods, instead of where it's supposed to be -- but you are not guaranteed to have one Mega per battle, and there's also a weird bug with Hidden Power in some moveset selections that will be fixed in the upcoming update.

Description: So Leavanny is known to have some difficulty in competitive play due to its typing and frailty making it very easy to take out, its STAB combination being walled by several types, and its speed tier being insufficient to do anything of note. I aimed to solve all of those problems in one go. Leavanny, according to its Black Pokedex entry (Upon finding a small Pokémon, it weaves clothing for it from leaves, using the cutters on its arms and sticky silk.) and the anime, canonically has blades for arms. I decided to approach Leavanny with an offensive view that kept its typing, which I felt was an important part of its identity, intact- and does its best to reap the unique offensive benefits said typing brings! It has excellent offensive capabilities as a result, with its dual STABs being boosted by Cutting Arm and having useful coverage that also is boosted in Sacred Sword and Throat Chop. Mega Leavanny hits quite hard and is pretty fast as well, but suffers from 4MSS in that it wants STABs, SD, and Sacred Sword, and Throat Chop all on one set so it isn't walled by various things.

Description: The idea here is that bastiodon acts as a shield that supports its allies in combat. Bastiodon is called the shield Pokémon. I wanted to make an idea that centers around protecting its teammates during battle like a shield normally would. Guardian shield allows bastiodon to set up screens more effectively, and with its new additions to extended Wide Guard and Quick Guard, it can protect its teammates from wide ranged and priority moves such as earthquake, surf, sucker punch, extreme speed, grassy glide, and other moves like those. It's downsides are that it's still pretty much eaten by fighting moves, and its lack of an HP stat doesn't help with it missing recovery. It screens won't last long either, if the opposing Pokémon has defog. You'd have to find a window to set them up, and since most defoggers are usually flying or bug types, you can run a rock move to stop them. Bastiodon wouldn't be able to setup much on its own, other than supportively, as its only reliable offensive boosting move is Curse.

Description: With Mega Magcargo, I wanted to find a way to actually make Fire/Rock work as a typing without straying too far from the original concept. Dry Skin may initially seem a bit OP considering that we're removing a double weakness, but I feel that it works because a) it does make logical sense in universe, considering that Magcargo is supposedly about twice as hot as the Sun's surface, and b) I feel that it is balanced out defensively since Mag retains its double weakness to Ground, its weakness to Rocks and its low Speed. However, Dry Skin + 50 points to Defense does allow Mag to actually be of some use to its team defensively now, able to top itself off with Recover. Mega Mag's main use would probably be as a defensive Rocker with Recover, Lava Plume (burns further bolster that physical bulk) and various options like Toxic, Body Press and Earth Power. In terms of new moves, I felt Scorching Sand was a very logical addition, as was Body Press; Meteor Beam gives Mag an actually viable special Rock STAB, while not being as spammable as Power Gem. Skitter Smack is just there for flavor.

Design: Magcargo's eyes take the form of elongated stalks (ala Gary from Spongebob) while its hydrostat (the lower part) expands outward, the outer edge matching the texture and color of Mag's shell. The shell expands outwards as well, and from the center of each swirl a new opening appears, with hot red gas spilling from each of the two volcano-like funnels; flames spew from the funnels when Magcargo attacks. Small black rocks protrude from Mag's "chin".

Description: Mega Leavanny was possibly the simplest of these three subs in terms of stats, as speedy attacker/support mon was pretty self-explanatory. Less explanatory was the new ability, which I wanted to tie into the idea I had for the design of Mega Leavanny; the ability to preserve its speed regardless of Webs, paralysis (Leavanny can still be paralyzed, but when para’d will only suffer the chance to be fully paralyzed) or whatever allows it to consistently blaze past the competition. With Mesmerizing Grace, wherein the master dramatist Mega Leavanny moves with such grace it cannot be tripped up, while it pours so much emotion into its "exit" with its dramatic skill that the opponent cannot help but be caught up in the performance, leaving them "distracted" during the next turn; the reduced speed effect was chosen to tie in with the ability's main perk (regarding speed), while still benefitting Leavanny’s incoming teammate. As for new moves, Rapid Spin was chosen to complement the ballet inspiration, while Sacred Sword was a good slashing move that also ties in with the dramatic aspect of Mega Leavanny (drama uses a lot of swords). Also, Solar Blade because duh.

Design: Looking at standard Leavanny, my first thought for the mega (for some reason) was "ballet dancer". Modifying that idea, with some inspiration from the introverted pre-evo Swadloon, Mega Leavanny expands on the more extroverted base form to become a dancer and dramatist. Its legs and arms all elongate (with the bug standing on one leg, pirouette-style), while its leaves sprout to form a pseudo-tutu (angled down). Its collar moves to the back of its neck and begins more pointed, its antennae shorten and its face takes on a more refined expression.

Description: With Bastiodon's stats basically precluding it from taking any serious offensive role without an absurd overhaul, I decided to help optimize Bastio's defensive potential. Unlike with Magcargo, there wasn't really any lore excuse to give Bastio a key immunity, so I decided to nix the old Rock typing in favor of Ground, allowing Mega Bastio to block Volt Switch and just being a better combo defensively while still being within reason for the mon. Great mixed defenses plus a Toxic immunity make Mega Bastio tough to wear down (hampered a bit by lack of recovery), while the attack buff means Bastio can potentially make use of STAB Earthquake; however, its attack of choice will likely be the new Body Press, a move that seems perfectly logical for a defensive mon. Where Mega Bastio really shines, however, is in its role in the hazard game- with new ability Magic Bounce thanks to its shield, Bastiodon leverages its good bulk to lay multiple layers of Spikes (my design for Mega Bas does involve giving it face spikes, hence my logical justification), which by itself sets it apart from the likes of Mega Steelix, while Glare allows it reliably spread dual status with Toxic, plus utilizing Roar for phasing. Finally, King's Shield because- shield, which grants Mega Bastio a way to weaken dangerous physical attackers. Also, Meteor Beam because all the fossils get it.

Design: Bastiodon's body becomes covered in steel plates, with take on a simple shield insignia and resemble the dress worn by a knight's horse. Its legs and tail grow longer, its tail swishing rhythmically from side to side while its legs become stocky, the new plating only a bit above the ground. Its face plate grows four horns, located at where there appears to be holes in the regular resign, with an additional nose spike. The exposed teeth (or whatever those are) are reduced, allowing the lower part of Bastio's face to be better seen.

Most Pokemon become more energetic when pumped full of mega energy. Not Magcargo. Its slows down, and its once-brittle shell hardens. While regular Magcargo is mostly lava with a thin layer of igneous rock, Mega Magcargo is mostly igneous rock with a bit of lava to keep it mobile, hence the type swap. With extra bulk and a solid defensive ability, it can more easily set up a Shell Smash.

Leavanny is known as the Nurturing Pokemon, and it's been observed weaving clothing for small Pokemon that it finds using leaves and its own sticky silk. It also has knives for hands. Bit of a weird mix if you ask me.

Mega Leavanny combines these two disparate elements and becomes a paladin, a knight in shining leaves that fiercely defends any weak or helpless Pokemon that cannot defend itself. Intrepid Sword grants it impressive immediate power, but it provides diminishing returns with Swords Dance just because of how stat boosts work (for example, +3 is weaker than +2 Tough Claws).

Regular Bastiodon will line up side by side to form a wall to protect its young, but Mega Bastiodon's face is so wide that it doesn't need help from other Bastiodon. Unlike Jigglypuff, Clefairy, and Vivillon, whose Friend Guard comes from nebulous friendship magic, Mega Bastiodon's Friend Guard comes from its massive face reaching across the battlefield and protecting the spot where its ally is standing. Helping Hand, Growl, and Leer aid Mega Bastiodon in its role as doubles support (if you didn't know, Growl and Leer are spread moves) while Volt Switch lets it not be complete garbage in singles.

1. Mega Leavanny's leaves become so sharp they can cut through steel, hence its Tinted Lens like ability, limited to Grass moves, of course. With a formidable Speed and Atk stat and access to U-Turn and Power Whip, it can keep pressuring opposing Pokémon until they fall down to its Grass moves.
2. In order to take good advantage of U-Turn (no Stealth Rock weakness anymore!) and have an easier time to set-up--after all, Bug | Grass is a bad defensive typing--, Mega Leavanny can rely on its special leaves that cover its entire (weak) Bug body, thus protecting it from moves usually devastating to the type.
3. It usually has enough special bulk to withstand non STAB moves effective to it, like Heat Wave from Zapdos or Ice Beam from Greninja.

Mega Bastiodon (Weight is doubled during Mega-Evolution)
New Ability: Guard Up
(Basically, it's a defensive version of Download. If the opposing Pokémon's Atk stat is higher than its SpAtk stat, Mega Bastiodon will raise its Defense by one stage, and vice versa. If both offensive stats are the same, Mega Bastiodon will increase its Defense.

Nerf: If the ability turns out to be too strong, Mega Bastiodon will remove its defensive boost from its ability (similar to Stockpile and Spit Up) if it gets hurt by an attack. I should note, however, that only a physical move will remove the Defense boost and vice versa.

Description:
1. With its new ability, Mega Bastiodon can tactically become a defensive behemoth, hence why its defensive stats are the same. Due to its atrocius dual typing which comes with a 4x Fighting and Ground weaknesses, Mega Bastiodon will need to rely on its teammates such as Clefable and Tapu Bulu/Rillaboom to cover its weaknesses.
2. Slack Off allows Mega Bastiodon to properly function as a wall. With Body Press, it can threaten Pokémon, especially when combined with Iron Defense.
3. Power Trick is more of a meme in Trick Room in Doubles, and if something like Shuckle can learn it, why not Bastiodon as well?
4. I focused on SpAtk to take advantage of its good special move pool and to make it more different from most other Rock or Steel Pokémon. Moreover, with such a low Atk stat, Mega Bastiodon can't really take good advantage of Curse.

Description: The embers on Mega Magcargo's shell create a counter-clockwise pattern that scares many superstitious people.

Thanks to its Counter-Clockwise Spiral ability, we finally have our first "fast" Fire/Rock type we all have been clamoring for. Fire/Rock is such a good STAB combo that when combined with Earth Power, it gets near-perfect coverage. It even gets Recover if it somehow gets hit. It also makes a good Sun Team counter as its ability screws Chlorophyll users' Speed boosts while Mega Magcargo dishes out Sun-boosted STAB moves. Ancient Power is a double-edged sword: it has a 10% chance to boost its power and bulk but it also boosts Mega Magcargo's Speed which can be detrimental against walls like Toxapex. An awful defensive typing with double weaknesses to Water and Ground as well as weakness to Stealth Rock prevents Magcargo from being overpowered. It also cannot boost its Special Attack reliably as Shell Smash would effectively make it "slower" and much more vulnerable than it already is.

: Shield Blow - If the user is afflicted with a status condition, all of this Pokemon's attacks use its Defense stat. The power reduction caused by burns is ignored.

Description: Mega Bastiodon absorbs status conditions such as burns or paralysis and then proceed to use its sky-high Defense stat to damage with any attack. Opportunities to get status conditions include Scald from Toxapex, Thunder Wave from Clefable, and Will-O-Wisp from Mega Sableye. Keep in mind that its ability affects all moves so it can also use both its powerful physical STAB moves such as Stone Edge, Iron Head, and Heavy Slam and its elemental coverage attacks such as Flamethrower, Ice Beam, and Thunderbolt. Its high defenses and large number of resistances allow it to last long in battle though watch out for Ground- and Fighting-type attacks. It's quite passive when healthy though so it really needs status to reach its full potential. Its immunity to poison status can ironically be annyoing too.

Description: Did someone say grass knock? I think I heard grass knock...oh well. Anyway, this Leavanny gets a very cool distinction. I've always thought that a pokemon that encompassed both life and death would be really cool, and what better pokemon to use than than Leavanny. Similar to refrigerate, this pokemon changes the type of certain attacks and boosts them. However, it swaps the type of Leavanny's stabs, so you can have a grass type knock off - cool utility for the lackluster attacking type - and an obscenely powerful dark type power whip. This pokemon suffers from a bad defensive typing and suboptimal stats, but it's fast nature combined with its ability to hit hard with dark type power whips and grass type knock offs and darkest lariats is not to be underestimated. Hey, everyone! Just here to announce that the patch for slate 21 is now live!
That means DrPumpkinz's :regirock: Mega Regirock and :registeel: Mega Registeel and Full_Korbe's :regice: Mega Regice are all playable! All three of them can Mega Evolve when holding the Reginite.
I'm so excited!!! I love this trio so much and I can't wait to use them!
In addition, :meganium: Mega Meganium, :typhlosion: Mega Typhlosion and :feraligatr: Mega Feraligatr from the previous slate are also playable! (This actually happened at the same time as the previous announcement about the backup server, but there was so much else going on that I totally forgot to announce it!! I'm sorry OTL)

I know Desolate Land is just about the most obvious Ability for Magcargo anyway, so this definitely looks coincidental and completely benign to me - I don't think you were copying anyone or basing it on another sub on purpose! But that said, we have recently been trying not to allow overly similar subs with the same Abilities to compete against each other, and I'm concerned that this overlaps too much with the Desolate Land sub by kakaks.
If you feel like you'd want some part of kakaks's sub to be done differently, you could maybe get in touch with them and share feedback? I know they've really been looking for advice and criticism on the Discord, so I bet they'd be happy to hear it!
But I wouldn't be comfortable putting both of them to vote when they're so similar; you'll only be hurting each other's chances, and I think that would be kind of unfair to both of you, I'm afraid;;

I also would sort of recommend simplifying/toning down Leaf Wrappings - at the very least, I would probably want it to be consistent with other type-changing effects like Forest's Curse and not have a completely different effect on Pokémon that are already Grass-type.
(I would also suggest making the modifier 1.25 rather than 1.3, both because it's easier to divide by that and because the other passive Ability that increases defenses has the same modifier! That's not really a significant balance change, though, and it's not mandatory; I just think it would help the Ability to feel more intuitive, which is usually best, especially when you have multiple unusual effects at once.)

On another note, I do kinda feel like you've gone a bit... overboard? with the tutor moves on all three of these - I know we just got 18 new moves and none of these Pokémon have had the chance to learn them, so when you're focused on such a small list, it might be a bit easy to take anything that even remotely fits and want to add it... But the distribution of most of these isn't reeeally as wide as you might think, and a majority of Pokémon didn't get more than two or three of these tutor moves at most.
I would really suggest looking at the kinds of Pokémon that already get these and reconsidering whether they're necessary - I feel like Steel Roller and Lash Out on Magcargo; Terrain Pulse, Lash Out and Coaching on Leavanny; and Grassy Glide and Lash Out on Bastiodon are all pretty tenuous additions (of note: Dubwool gets Grassy Glide because it's inspired by a soccer ball and the move's name in some languages is a reference to a soccer play, not because it's a grazing animal), and even though they're not all competitive additions, this is still a lot of moves to be adding with each sub.

That said!! These are mostly fine, and I'm sorry if this seems super nitpicky or anything!!

At long last... a parenting-themed Pokémon that doesn't get a Seismic Toss clone!! I am grateful to its movepool for making this possible to balance for once!
Leavanny is the Nurturing Pokémon, and its most distinctive quality by far is the way it cares for young Pokémon, including its adorable relationship with its own baby Sewaddle and Swadloon and its habit of sewing and caring for any other little ones it finds. (I love it so much it's so wonderful aaaaaa)
With that in mind, the flavor here should be pretty obvious! That said, Parental Bond is one of those Abilities that can be really broken, really boring or really cool depending on the user, and I wanted to be absolutely sure to make use of it in a unique way rather than just being Mega Kangaskhan 2.0 or using it purely for the damage boost.
But Leavanny has just what it needs for that - being Bug/Grass comes with a totally unique application for Parental Bond that no other Pokémon can match! It's time for
s t a t d r o p s !

In singles, Leavanny's newly-added Lunge is now its best physical Bug STAB, and it enables it to keep itself safer from physical moves by cutting the target's Attack cleanly in half with the first use. Meanwhile for special attacking sets, Apple Acid gets to be the rough equivalent of a 110 BP Acid Spray, getting significantly stronger with each consecutive use - it gets to act like a less powerful but more consistent Shaymin-Sky, in a sense!
Both of these are likely to force switches, and while Leavanny is hardly equipped to make a clean sweep, it absolutely loves the free turns that enables it, with two excellent setup moves in Swords Dance and Quiver Dance, access to Synthesis to keep itself from being worn down, and Knock Off and Sticky Web to provide team support when it gets a free turn. It also gets Air Slash, which is buffed less by Parental Bond than by Serene Grace and isn't STAB but can definitely come in clutch from time to time!
In the context of doubles, Apple Acid is just as major an addition - with or without being able to beat something by itself, Leavanny's ability to use its strongest STAB move and harshly lower the target's Special Defense at the same time is a super valuable form of team support when double-targeting a threat, and it also gets twice the effectiveness from Struggle Bug and Electroweb, making it the only Pokémon that can get both opponents to -2 Special Attack or -2 Speed at once (note that the comparable moves Snarl and Icy Wind are relevant in doubles! this will sound like a silly gimmick to singles players, but I'm pretty sure it's a legitimate supportive niche in that context).

In return, though, Leavanny is pretty easy to cover defensively! In terms of raw, immediate power, its STABs don't offer much - and they have terrible neutral coverage and leave it walled by three types, which it can't possibly cover all at once!
This is important, and I think it's a good thing - it makes Leavanny a relatively safe Pokémon to give this Ability, rather than one that poses a serious risk of being broken. With Parental Bond-boosted Lunges and Apple Acids, it can be hard to switch in safely once Leavanny is in, because physical threats are easily mitigated and resistances kind of stop being resistances after a hit on the special side; on a Pokémon with more optimal stats or a better attacking type, I would be much less comfortable with an effect like this. As it is, though, I think it just makes for a unique way for Leavanny to get around some of its usual shortcomings, offering it more chances to support its team and wear down walls without being unhealthy.

And also it's just an adorable Ability for Leavanny, which is great.

I think this Mega-Magcargo could be very interesting since uses a very interesting defensive typing and ability with good utility moves.

I'd argue that even regular Scizor outclasses this for all the same reasons minus bulk and plus not being a mega.

Steel Cutter honestly hurts Mega Leavanny more than it helps it. Not only does it completely negate its new Fighting coverage, but it negates its main Bug STAB, leaving it forced to use Bug Bite or Fell Stinger if it wishes to go physical. This leaves Sticky Web and Quiver Dance as the only things it has going for it over Scizor. Sticky Web isn't something you waste your mega slot on (better a Focus Sash suicide lead) and while Quiver Dance is neat, and its solid defensive typing makes setting up easier, it's not particularly good at abusing those boosts once it has them. Hematite's Quiver Dance Leavanny gets around its poor offensive typing and low Special Attack with a power-boosting ability that synergizes with Apple Acid. This just trades one poor offensive typing for another poor offensive typing. Arguably an even worse offensive typing, as while a Grass Leavanny could deal a lot of damage with a +1 Leaf Storm, Steel Leavanny has no such nuclear option.

Description: I'm honestly really proud of this one. I was looking through its movepool and found that it learns a lot more special moves than physical ones. I thought, "How can I make use of this without dumping a lot of points into its Special Attack?" So I came up with this. You have a lot of options for this, honestly.
