[OVERVIEW]

Metang is a solid pick for a Stealth Rock setter, with its main attribute being its great defensive typing that allows it to serve as a decent check for various relevant threats such as Jynx, Stoutland, Aurorus, and Dodrio. However, it is very reliant on its Eviolite to shore up its only average defenses. The rest of Metang's stats are mediocre, with its somewhat underwhelming Attack and low Speed leaving it with little offensive presence against foes it does not have coverage for. Metang's lack of recovery causes it to be worn down easily, which limits its ability to switch into multiple foes throughout the match. This is furthered by Metang's weakness to common coverage moves from various Pokemon it switches into such as Kangaskhan's Earthquake and Aurorus's Earth Power. Finally, Metang faces competition as a Stealth Rock setter from Pokemon like Regirock, Mudsdale, and Alolan Sandslash, which all have various unique attributes and don't depend on Eviolite for their bulk, allowing them to run other items like Leftovers.

Moves
========

Meteor Mash is Metang's STAB move and hits Pokemon such as Lycanroc, Clefairy, and Aurorus super effectively. Earthquake provides coverage against certain Pokemon that don't mind Meteor Mash like Qwilfish and Lanturn while also 2HKOing certain foes like Skuntank and Aggron. Toxic can cripple bulky foes like Jellicent, Quagsire, and Mudsdale and prevent Metang from being complete setup fodder for Pokemon such as Scyther and Musharna. Bullet Punch is an alternate option that can help Metang make up for its low Speed stat and allows it to pick off weakened foes.

Set Details
========

176 EVs in Attack with an Adamant nature give Metang some offensive presence, allowing it to OHKO Lycanroc with Meteor Mash, 2HKO Qwilfish with Earthquake, and OHKO Jynx with Bullet Punch after Stealth Rock. 252 EVs in HP and 80 EVs in Defense with Eviolite grant Metang a solid amount of bulk so it can better switch in to take hits. This investment notably enables Metang to avoid the 2HKO from non-Black Glasses Jolly Skuntank's Crunch and the 3HKO from Regirock's Earthquake. Clear Body prevents foes from lowering Metang's stats, most notably blocking the Attack drop from Qwilfish's Intimidate, and it even stops Parting Shot users like Silvally-Fairy and Silvally-Dragon from pivoting out, which can limit the opponent's willingness to use said move throughout the match.

Usage Tips
========

Metang's main goal is to set up Stealth Rock, and its main opportunity to do so is when it switches into and forces out foes like Mesprit, Stoutland, and Aurorus. However, it has to watch out for coverage moves like Aurorus's Earth Power. Furthermore, stay wary of how easily Metang can be worn down, especially if you want to save it to take a boosted hit from a Pokemon such as Lycanroc or Dodrio. Mesprit and Dodrio can lure Metang in and catch it off guard with their potential Knock Off. If Stealth Rock is already up, Metang can use Toxic to cripple incoming walls like Jellicent and Quagsire. Metang can also serve as a decent lead in order to set up Stealth Rock as soon as possible, although common leads like Froslass can cause mind games between Taunt and Will-O-Wisp. Metang can utilize Bullet Punch to revenge kill foes, although even Pokemon that are very frail or weak to Steel such as Haunter and Froslass have to be weakened a decent amount beforehand.

Team Options
========

Offensive Pokemon appreciate Metang's Stealth Rock helping to wear down their targets, which means wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Alolan Exeggutor and setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Jynx are good partners. Water- and Grass-types such as Jellicent, Ludicolo, Lilligant, and Alolan Exeggutor can serve as checks for opposing Water- and Ground-types, and Metang can deal with some of their threats like Aurorus and wear other threats down with Stealth Rock. Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Altaria and Eelektross can serve as switch-ins for Ground-types, with Metang serving as a check for threats like Aurorus and Stoutland in return. Knock Off absorbers like Silvally-Fairy and Alolan Persian can help ensure that Metang doesn't have its Eviolite removed. Both can also give it chances to come in with Parting Shot, which ideally allows it to set up Stealth Rock, and Alolan Persian can also provide a source of recovery in Z-Parting Shot. Audino can supply a form of recovery for Metang in Wish while forming a decent defensive core with it. Primeape can utilize Defiant to take advantage of Defog users, while Ghost-types like Oricorio-G and Froslass serve as spinblockers, covering both forms of entry hazard removal. Froslass and other hazard setters such as Qwilfish and Roselia can stack their Spikes and Toxic Spikes alongside Metang's Stealth Rock to further wear the opposing team down. That being said, Metang doesn't enjoy hazards itself, so hazard removers make for good teammates Rapid Spin users like Kabutops and Hitmonchan are preferable, as they can remove hazards without the cost of Metang's own Stealth Rock.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Metang generally lacks any free slots in its main set, so it struggles to find space for its few alternate moves. However, Zen Headbutt gives Metang a secondary STAB move, giving it a better way to hit Water-types such as Poliwrath and Floatzel. It can also pick up some other notable KOs, such as the guaranteed OHKO on Primeape and 2HKO on Hitmonchan. Pursuit can deal chip damage on foes that try to switch out against it, which is especially useful for Psychic-types like Jynx.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Water-types such as Quagsire, Jellicent, Poliwrath, and Ludicolo can easily switch into either of Metang's attacks, with the former three also having sources of recovery and the latter being able to outright 2HKO it. Other Water-types like Omastar and Lanturn can deal a lot of damage or potentially burn Metang with Scald, but they are heavily damaged by Earthquake. Many of these Pokemon do not enjoy taking a Toxic either.

**Ground-types**: Mudsdale can take multiple hits from Metang and 2HKO it in return; Choice Band variants can even OHKO it. Other Ground-types like Golurk, Golem, and Claydol all outspeed Metang and 2HKO it while being able to take a hit, with the latter also being able to remove Stealth Rock. Alolan Dugtrio can KO Metang after it has taken a solid amount of damage, but it is otherwise OHKOed by Earthquake.

**Eviolite Removal**: Since Metang depends on its Eviolite to take hits, it fears Knock Off users like Gurdurr, Shiftry, and Alolan Raticate. Trick and Switcheroo users like Manectric, Choice Scarf Mesprit and Jynx, and Choice Band Floatzel greatly cripple Metang, as on top of removing its Eviolite, they lock it into a single move. Additionally, Mesprit and Jynx can lure Metang in to cripple it.

**Super Effective Coverage**: Various Pokemon carry super effective coverage moves that can either 2HKO or 3HKO Metang and can greatly wear it down. This includes moves like Aurorus's Earth Power, Aggron and Kangaskhan's Earthquake, non-Swords Dance Dodrio's Knock Off, and Alolan Exeggutor and Silvally-Fairy's Flamethrower. Certain Pokemon can even greatly dent Metang with neutral coverage moves such as Stoutland's Superpower.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon like Gastrodon, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela can all switch into any of Metang's attacks,with all of them additionally having sources of recovery. Then, they can cripple and wear down Metang with utility moves like Will-O-Wisp, Leech Seed, and Knock Off.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Metang is a niche pick for a Stealth Rock setter, with its main attribute being in its great defensive Steel / Psychic typing. This leaves Metang with an incredible nine resistances and one immunity, which notably gives it an immunity to Toxic, allowing it to serve as a solid check for various relevant threats such as Jynx, Stoutland, Aurorus, and Togedemaru. is toge rly the biggest offensive threat u could mention? like, it's a toge lol
  • Its movepool furthers this, as on top of Stealth Rock, Metang has access to some nice options in its STAB in Meteor Mash, coverage in Earthquake, and priority in Bullet Punch. listing its movepool does not qualify the statement that said movepool furthers the first point
  • However, it is very reliant on its Eviolite, as without it has only average defenses. The rest of Metang's stats are mediocre, with its underwhelming Attack and low Speed, leaving it with little offensive presence against foes it does not have coverage for.
  • Its lack of recovery also limits Metang's switch-in capabilities, as it makes it very easily worn down, especially if serving as the switch-in for multiple foes in a single match. This is furthered by Metang's weakness to common coverage from various Pokemon it switches in against such as Kangaskhan's Earthquake and Aurorus's Earth Power.
  • Finally, Metang receives a large amount of competition as a Stealth Rock setter from Pokemon like Mesprit and Regirock. Both have better stats and don't depend on Eviolite for their bulk, allowing them to run other items like Colbur Berry and Leftovers. Additionally, Mesprit has more utility options such as U-turn and Healing Wish, its own resistance and immunity in Fighting and Ground-types, and more overall versatility. Despite all of this, Metang remains an alright choice thanks to its fantastic typing. new analysis standards blah blah blah this is definitely the bit that doesnt need to be 4 lines

  • Stealth Rock deals chip damage to the foe every time they switch in, limiting how much the opponent can switch.
  • Meteor Mash is Metang's STAB move of choice, hitting Rock-, Fairy-, and Ice-types such as Lycanroc, Clefairy, and Abomasnow super-effectively while having a change to boost Metang's Attack stat.
  • Earthquake provides coverage for various Pokemon who do not mind Meteor Mash, such as Qwilfish, Lanturn, Togedemaru, and Combusken. It also allows Metang to pick up the 2HKO on certain foes like Skuntank, Aggron, and non-Shuca Berry Alolan Sandslash alongside Stealth Rock damage.
  • Toxic can cripple Pokemon that do not mind either of Metang's offensive moves like Tangela, Poliwrath, and Mudsdale. It also makes Metang not complete setup fodder for Pokemon such as Musharna and Scyther.
  • However, Bullet Punch is an alternate option that can help make up for Metang's low Speed, allowing it to revenge kill Pokemon like Aurorus and Jynx with previously acquired damage, although makes Metang easier for bulky foes to wall.
also can definitely cut back on this section bc standards. oh and quag and jelly are both notable tox targets now

Set Details

  • 176 EVs in Attack with an Adamant nature gives Metang some offensive presence, allowing it to OHKO Lycanroc with Meteor Mash, 2HKO Qwilfish with Earthquake, and OHKO Jynx with Bullet Punch after Stealth Rock.
  • 252 EVs in HP and 80 EVs in Defense with the Eviolite supplies Metang with a solid amount of bulk so it can better switch in to take htis. Notable KOes it enables Metang to avoid are the 2HKO from non-Black Glasses Jolly Skuntank's Crunch and the 3HKO from Regirock's Earthquake.

It does stop Parting Shot users like Silvally-Fairy and Silvally-Dragon from pivoting out, which can furthermore limit the opponent's willingness to use it throughout the match.

Usage Tips
========

  • Throughout the match Metang can serve as a switch-in for various Pokemon such as Mesprit, Stoutland, Aurorus, and Drampa. you dont say. actually you really dont, because this point should be removed
  • However, Metang has to watch out for coverage and utility from many of these Pokemon, such as Drampa's Fire Blast and Mesprit's Trick. Furthermore, Metang should serve as only a pivot for certain Pokemon such as Zangoose, as this deals a turn of Toxic damage and lures Zangoose's Knock Off before switching into a teammate that doesn't mind it as much like Silvally-Fairy. see i like a "look out for coverage moves and be thoughtful when pivoting into things about how much u need to conserve ur health" point, but not when it's attached to the first bullet
  • Metang also has to stay weary of how much health it has due to how easily it is worn down. If the opponent has a setup Pokemon such as Lycanroc, Metang should especially aim to be kept healthy so it can take the boosted hit and KO in return. this should really just go along with the bulelt right above
  • Despite all of this, Metang will often force many of these Pokemon to switch or can take another hit, especially if they Pokemon who are choice-locked such as Stoutland, and it can use this turn as an opportunity to set up Stealth Rock. If Stealth Rock is already up, Metang can go for Toxic to cripple the switch-in or double switch for momentum. ok now this one simple point has been elongated so much and split into so many bullets im getting really confused
  • It can also serve as a decent lead in order to set up Stealth Rock as soon as possible, although common leads like Froslass can cause mind games between Taunt and Will-O-Wisp.
  • If a hazard remover like Kabutops or Swanna come in, which often threaten Metang out, it can instead stay in and go for an attack or Toxic in order to weaken them, which can limit their hazard removing capabilities. It can also set up Stealth Rock again on the predicted Defog, as Stealth Rock has more PP, but this can be easily played around by the opponent. i mean why would u be running away from kabutops anyway? i dont rly like this point, it's obvious at worst and conditional at best, u might not want to stay in on a swanna at all depending on the situation
  • Metang can utilize Bullet Punch to revenge kill foes, although even Pokemon that are very frail or weak to Steel-types such as Haunter and Froslass have to be weakened a decent amount beforehand. Bullet Punch can also be used to simply deal chip damage when Metang is about to be KOed.
if u cut this down as much as im suggesting, it will be pretty short. that is okay, especially under new standards, there isnt a ton to say about "click rocks and switch into the specific things you beat"

Team Options
========

  • Wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Drampa appreciate Metang's Stealth Rock wearing down foes, making them easier to break through. Both Stoutland and Drampa can also switch into Ghost-type attacks from Pokemon like Haunter with the ladder also helping against Water-types like Lanturn.
  • Setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Jynx similarly benefit from Stealth Rock's chip damage, as it allows them to more reliably clean up matches. Jynx can additionally absorb Water-type moves and offensively help against certain physically bulky foes like Mudsdale and Tangela. i would definitely just combine wallbreakers and sweepers into one short and obvious point, worth mentioning i suppose but barely
  • Water-type and Grass-types such as Lanturn, Ludicolo, Lilligant, and Alolan Exeggutor can serve as checks for opposing Water- and Ground-types while Metang can deal with some of their threats like Aurorus and wear other threats down with Stealth Rock.
  • Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Altaria and Eelektross can serve as switch-ins for Ground-types.
  • Fairy-types like Silvally-Fairy and Granbull can serve as Knock Off absorbers for Metang, while appreciating Metang's ability to switch into certain Steel- and Poison-types like Togedemaru and Qwilfish. Alolan Persian is another Knock Off absorber and who can also take Ghost-types attacks and provide a source of recovery in Z-Parting Shot. granbull (puke)
  • Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Primeape help against Dark-types like Alolan Raticate and Absol benefit from Metang's resistance to Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mesprit and Silvally-Fairy and Stealth Rock support. Primeape can also utilize Defiant to take advantage of Defog users in order to help keep Stealth Rock up.
  • Ghost-types like Oricorio-Sensu and Spiritomb serve as spinblockers, allowing them to deal with the other form of hazard removal.
  • Other hazard setters such as Froslass, Qwilfish, and Weezing can stack their Spikes and Toxic Spikes alongside Metang's Stealth Rock and further wear the opposing team down, and the latter serves as a Ground-type immunity.

  • Zen Headbutt gives Metang a secondary STAB move, giving it a better way to hit Water-types such as Poliwrath and Floatzel. It can also pick up some other notable KOes, such as the guaranteed OHKO on Primeape and 2HKO on Hitmonchan, while being able to hit Weezing on the switch.
  • Pursuit can deal chip damage on foes that try to switch out against it, which is especially useful for Psychic-types like Jynx.
  • Thunder Punch is another way for Metang to hit Water-types while OHKOing Swanna, but hits little outside of that. now that the 3 most common water types dont give a shit about this (qwil jelly quag) i would drop it entirely
  • Ice Punch supplies coverage for some random Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Golurk, and specially defensive Altaria, although they aren't very notable compared to Metang's standard moves. would also drop this
  • Explosion serves as a one-time nuke that can also gain momentum or OHKO hazard removers in order to maintain Stealth Rock. also dont think explosion warrants a mention on a mon designed to switch into things more than once
  • Finally, alternative EV spreads can be used, such as maximum Attack and Speed with Adamant in order to give Metang a larger offensive presence or more investment in Defense or Special Defense to better check certain foes. unless u can give a good concrete example of a worthwhile spread, dont keep this

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Water-types such as Poliwrath, Swanna, and Ludicolo can switch into either of Metang's attacks. The former two can wear down Metang while being able to heal off any damage with Rest and Roost, with Rest additionally removing Toxic, and the latter can outright 2HKO. Swanna can also use Defog to remove Metang's Stealth Rock. If running White Herb, Omastar and Carracosta can take a hit and use Metang as an opportunity to set up and pick up the OHKO and 2HKO, respectively. Other Water-types like Kabutops, Qwilfish, and Lanturn can cripple Metang with Knock Off, use Taunt to stop it from setting up Stealth Rock, or potentially burn it with Scald, but fear its Earthquake. this doesnt rly need to be so long and in depth about all the different waters. also quag and jelly should get in this now

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically Defensive Pokemon like Weezing, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela can all switch in to any of Metang's attacks, with the former also being immune to Toxic and the latter two having sources of recovery. They can then cripple and wear down Metang with utility like Will-O-Wisp, Leech Seed, and Knock Off.

**Ground-types**: Mudsdale can take multiple hits while 2HKOing Metang in return, or even OHKO if Choice Band. Other Ground-types like Golurk, Golem, and Claydol all outspeed Metang and 2HKO it while being able to take a hit, with the latter also being able to remove Stealth Rock. Alolan Dugtrio can KO Metang after it has taken a solid amount of damage, but is otherwise OHKOed by Earthquake.

**Eviolite removal**: Since Metang depends largely on its Eviolite to take hits, its fears Knock Off users like Gurdurr, Shiftry, and Alolan Raticate. Trick and Switcheroo users like Choice Scarf Mesprit and Jynx and Choice Band Floatzel greatly cripple Metang as on top of removing its Eviolite, they lock it into a single move. Mesprit and Jynx additionally lure Metang in, as can certain Knock Off users such as Clefairy and Zangoose.

**Coverage moves**: Various Pokemon carry super-effective coverage that can either 2HKO or 3HKO Metang, which can greatly wear it down. This includes moves like Aurorus's Earth Power, Aggron and Kangaskhan's Earthquake, and Alolan Exeggutor and Silvally-Fairy's Flamethrower. Even certain Pokemon can greatly dent Metang with neutral coverage such as Stoutland's Superpower.

I feel the SR and MM bullet are pretty straightforward / obvious and are probably unneeded.

Be wary of foes who can potentially remove Metang's Eviolite, such as Mesprit or Dodrio. Also, click Toxic to cripple bulky stuff if SR is already up or annoying walls is more important.

  • Offensive Pokemon appreciate Metang's Stealth Rock helping to wear down their targets. This includes wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Drampa and setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Jynx.

Alolan Persian is another Knock Off absorber and who can also take Ghost-types attacks and provide a source of recovery in Z-Parting Shot. This section should definitely be dedicated to Knock Off absorbers than Fairy-types. Metang doesn't even beat Poison-types that well (Skuntank, Qwilfish), and if this was about Knock Off absorbers Alolan Persian would fit in a lot more, since your current point makes it seem like it's about Fairies.
  • Audino is another Pokemon that can supply a form of recovery for Metang in Wish.
  • Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Primeape help against Dark-types like Alolan Raticate and Absol benefit from Metang's resistance to Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mesprit and Silvally-Fairy and Stealth Rock support. Perhaps hazard control given how much Spikes hinders Metang's success?

Others like Omastar and Lanturn can deal a lot of damage or potentially burn Metang with Scald, but do not enjoy taking an Earthquake. Might be worth noting the first 3 you mention aren't big fans of Toxic, nor is Lanturn.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically Defensive Pokemon like Weezing, Gourgeist-XL, and Tangela can all switch in to any of Metang's attacks, with the former additionally being immune to Toxic and the latter two having sources of recovery. They can then cripple and wear down Metang with utility like Will-O-Wisp, Leech Seed, and Knock Off.

I believe "removal" and "moves" in the last two sections are to be capitalized.

This is furthered by Metang's weakness to common coverage from various Pokemon it switches in against such as Kangaskhan's Earthquake and Aurorus's Earth Power. Finally, Metang does face competition as a Stealth Rock setter from Pokemon like Mesprit, Regirock, Mudsdale, and Alolan Sandslash, who all have various unique attributes and don't depend on an Eviolite for their bulk, allowing them to run other items like Leftovers. (i'd maybes remove mes, just because the rest all have options for recovery stalling, mes is very much an odd one out here, if yah feel me)

Moves
========

Meteor Mash is Metang's STAB move of choice as it hits Pokemon such as Lycanroc, Clefairy, and Aurorus super-effectively. Earthquake provides coverage on certain Pokemon that don't mind Meteor Mash like Qwilfish, Lanturn, and Togedemaru. It also picks up the 2HKO on certain foes like Skuntank and Aggron. Toxic can cripple bulky foes like Jellicent, Quagsire, and Mudsdale while not making Metang complete setup fodder for Pokemon such as Scyther and Musharna. Bullet Punch is an alternate option that can help make up for Metang's low Speed stat and allows for it to pick off weakened foes.

Set Details
========

176 EVs in Attack with an Adamant nature gives Metang some offensive presence, allowing it to OHKO Lycanroc with Meteor Mash, 2HKO Qwilfish with Earthquake, and OHKO Jynx with Bullet Punch after Stealth Rock. 252 EVs in HP and 80 EVs in Defense with the Eviolite supplies Metang with a solid amount of bulk so it can better switch in to take hits. Notable KOes it enables Metang to avoid are the 2HKO from non-Black Glasses Jolly Skuntank's Crunch and the 3HKO from Regirock's Earthquake. Clear Body prevents foes from lowering Metang's stats, with the most notable being the Attack drop from Qwilfish's Intimidate and Bellossom's Strength Sap, although it does not prevent Strength Sap's recovery. It does stop Parting Shot users like Silvally-Fairy and Silvally-Dragon from pivoting out, which can furthermore limit the opponent's willingness to use it throughout the match. (ehhhh, bell still fucks you if it's safeguard tho)

Usage Tips
========

Metang's main goal is to set up Stealth Rock, and its main opportunity to do so is when it switches into and forces out foes like Mesprit, Stoutland, and Aurorus. However, it has to watch out for coverage from these Pokemon like Aurorus's Earth Power (and stoutland's crunch pls). Furthermore, stay weary of how easily Metang can be worn down, especially if you want to save it to take a boosted hit from Pokemon such as Lycanroc and Dodrio. Lastly, Mesprit and Dodrio can lure Metang in and catch it off guard with their potential Knock Off. If Stealth Rock is already up Metang can use Toxic to incoming cripple walls like Jellicent and Quagsire. Metang can also serve as a decent lead in order to set up Stealth Rock as soon as possible, although common leads like Froslass can cause mind games between Taunt and Will-O-Wisp. Metang can utilize Bullet Punch to revenge kill foes, although even Pokemon that are very frail or weak to Steel-types such as Haunter and Froslass have to be weakened a decent amount beforehand.

Team Options
========

Offensive Pokemon appreciate Metang's Stealth Rock helping to wear down their targets. This includes wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Drampa and setup sweepers such as Lycanroc and Jynx (meh, drampa usually wants a diff sr user, like mes). Water-type and Grass-types such as Jellicent, Ludicolo, Lilligant, and Alolan Exeggutor can serve as checks for opposing Water- and Ground-types while Metang can deal with some of their threats like Aurorus and wear other threats down with Stealth Rock. Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Altaria and Eelektross can serve as switch-ins for Ground-types. Knock Off absorbers like Silvally-Fairy and Alolan Persian can help ensure that Metang doesn't have its Eviolite removed. Both can also give it chances to come in with Parting Shot, with Alolan Persian also providing a source of recovery in Z-Parting Shot. Audino is another Pokemon that can supply a form of recovery for Metang in Wish (expand a little, they're like, amazing partners!). Primeape can utilize Defiant to take advantage of Defog users while Ghost-types like Oricorio-Sensu :pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh::pikuh: and Spiritomb serve as spinblockers, covering both forms of hazard removal (i don't think tomb is very good with it tbh, explain lass here instead). Other hazard setters such as Froslass, Qwilfish, and Roselia can stack their Spikes and Toxic Spikes alongside Metang's Stealth Rock to further wear the opposing team down. That being said, Metang doesn't enjoy hazards itself, so hazard removers make for good teammates, preferably Rapid Spin users like Kabutops and Hitmonchan as they can remove remove hazards without the cost of Metang's Stealth Rock.

just feel like, eh, some of these points could be a tad bit fleshed out

Other Options
=============

Metang generally lacks any free slots in its main set, so it struggles to find space for its few alternate moves. However, Zen Headbutt gives Metang a secondary STAB move, giving it a better way to hit Water-types such as Poliwrath and Floatzel. It can also pick up some other notable KOes, such as the guaranteed OHKO on Primeape and 2HKO on Hitmonchan, while being able to hit Weezing on the switch. Pursuit can deal chip damage on foes that try to switch out against it, which is especially useful for Psychic-types like Jynx.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Water-types such as Quagsire, Jellicent, Poliwrath, and Ludicolo can easily switch into either of Metang's attacks, with the former three also having sources of recovery and the latter being able to outright 2HKO it. Others like Omastar and Lanturn can deal a lot of damage or potentially burn Metang with Scald, but do not enjoy taking an Earthquake. Many of these Pokemon also do not enjoy taking a Toxic either.

Weezing can also use Metang as setup fodder for its Toxic Spikes. (i'd move this down. like, everything but weezing gets fucked over by toxic without doing much in return rlly. it gets rocks and it cripples your wall)

**Eviolite Removal**: Since Metang depends on its Eviolite to take hits, its fears Knock Off users like Gurdurr, Shiftry, and Alolan Raticate. Trick and Switcheroo users like Manectric, Choice Scarf Mesprit and Jynx, and Choice Band Floatzel greatly cripple Metang as on top of removing its Eviolite they lock it into a single move. Mesprit and Jynx additionally lure Metang in, as can certain Knock Off users such as Clefairy. (knock clef is shit)

**Coverage Moves**: (super-effective coverage) Various Pokemon carry super-effective coverage that can either 2HKO or 3HKO Metang, which can greatly wear it down. This includes moves like Aurorus's Earth Power, Aggron and Kangaskhan's Earthquake, non-Swords Dance Dodrio's Knock Off and Alolan Exeggutor and Silvally-Fairy's Flamethrower. Even certain Pokemon can greatly dent Metang with neutral coverage such as Stoutland's Superpower.

Flying-types and Pokemon with Levitate such as Altaria and Eelektross can serve as switch-ins for Ground-types, with Metang serving as a check for their threats like Aurorus and Stoutland in return.

Other Options
=============

===================

Many of these Pokemon also do not enjoy taking a Toxic either.

Trick and Switcheroo users like Manectric, Choice Scarf Mesprit and Jynx, and Choice Band Floatzel greatly cripple Metang, (AC) as on top of removing its Eviolite, they lock it into a single move.
