[17:05:21] +TheCoastsOfToast: Fancy meeting mew here

[OVERVIEW]

  • Mew is a strong defensive Pokemon, with Manectite and Aggronite allowing Mew to take on a large variety of physical attackers, like Terrakion, Golisopod, and Zygarde.
  • A large support movepool enables it to fulfill a variety of roles.
  • Mew may suffer from having four moveslot syndrome, forcing it to forego some utility options.
  • Mew can be easily overwhelmed, as Mew is suscepible to status, so pokemon that Mew checks can be used in tandem to wear it down, such as Zygarde and Entei with Toxic. Other pokemons could also sacrifice themselves to weaken Mew.
  • If Mew is running a defensive stone, it is very passive, as it cannot do much to targets that aren't hit super effectively by its moves.
  • Psychic isn't the greatest defensive typing, suffering from weaknesses in Dark and Ghost-types, many of which are special attackers.
  • Magearna also competes with Mew in some of its roles; however, Mew is capable of setting itself apart from Magearna with its access to reliable recovery and hazard removal.

[SET]
name: Manectite
move 1: Roost
move 2: Defog / U-turn
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Earth Power
item: Manectite
ability: Synchronize
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Roost provides valuable recovery to Mew and lets it stay healthy throughout the match
  • Defog allows it to perform a hazard-removing role
  • U-turn allows Mew to pivot, bringing in frail teammates like Diancite Terrakion and Darkrai into defensive Pokemon that they can take advantage of, since Mew forces switches into those Pokemon.
  • Ice Beam allows it to handle pokemon weak to Ice, like Zygarde and Landorus-T.
  • Earth Power enables it to handle stuff like Primal Groudon, Terrakion, and other pokemon weak to ground.

Set Details
========

  • The EVs given maximizes physical bulk, enabling it to handle threats like Primal Groudon, Terrakion, and Zygarde
  • 56 Speed EVs allows it to outspeed max speed Altarianite Landorus-T
  • Manectite grants Intimidate, which allows Mew to take on physical attackers, since they’re weaker at -1 and also gives Mew increased bulk and speed.
  • Synchronize is helpful before mega evolving, as Mew can use it to get status on the foe, but otherwise, Intimidate is usually better, and should be prioritized in getting, as Mew is 2HKO'd by its checks before mega evolution.

Usage Tips
========

  • After mega evolving, Mew should be switched into physical attackers, as many of them will be weakened by Intimidate. Intimidate also has the benefit of going through Magic Bounce, allowing it to take on physical Diancite users, like Terrakion. Mew should also switch into physical attackers weak to Mew's coverage, such as Primal Groudon, Terrakion, and Zygarde, as Mew is unable to do much to targets it cannot hit supereffectively.
  • Mew should remain healthy wherever possible, so it can continue to take on various physical attackers.
  • Mew is capable of removing hazards versus common hazard setters like Primal Groudon and Terrakion, since it threatens them out.
  • Mew should be used as a pivot, as Defog removes hazards to allow wallbreakers to come in safely, and U-turn chipping defensive threats for the wallbreakers. Intimidate also assists Mew into pivoting too.

Team Options
========

  • Special walls, such as Blissey and Magearna, can take special attacks for Mew, while Mew can help them out by weakening the physical foes with intimidate to the point where the special walls can take on the foes themselves.
  • Clerics are appreciated, as Mew does not like being paralyzed or poisoned, since those status conditions can hinder it in its role. Blissey is capable of doing this.
  • Set-up sweepers, like Zygarde or Darkrai, may appreciate how intimidate weakens physical attackers and allows it to set up easier.
  • Frail wallbreakers, like Terrakion, appreciates Mew's ability to pivot, and can remove its checks in return.
[SET]
name: Sablenite Nasty Plot

move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Roost
item: Sablenite
ability: Synchronize
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 192 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Nasty Plot enables Mew to set up, and make it harder to switch into
  • Psychic is a strong STAB option, and allows Mew to hit many different targets hard.
  • Psyshock is an alternative option to strike the foe at the other defensive stat.
  • Ice Beam is an alternative that allows Mew to hit Ground-types like Landorus-T, Zygarde, and Arceus-Ground, but running it means you either miss out on a STAB option or a way to hit Steel-types hard.
  • Focus Blast handles the Dark-types that would normally be able to switch into Psychic or Psyshock. It also hits Steel-types that would otherwise wall this set.
  • Roost enables Mew to stay healthy throughout the match and enables it to set-up in different situations.

Set Details
========

  • 252 HP and 64 Defense EVs along with a Bold nature allows Mew to survive a Precipice Blades from Primal Groudon with maximum attack investment.
  • The remaining EVs are dumped in Special Attack to increase Mew’s offensive presence
  • Sablenite allows Mew to become a bulky special attacker, taking hits to set up easier. It also grants Magic Bounce, which helps block status moves from affecting Mew, such as Toxic or Confide.
  • Synchronize allows Mew to get status on its checks prior to mega evolving, but Mew should prioritize mega evolving to gain the extra bulk and the valuable Magic Bounce.

Usage Tips
========

  • Mew should attempt to set up in forced switches, as not many pokemon that don't resist Mew's attacks will want to take them after a Nasty Plot.
  • Mew should stay healthy using Roost, whenever possible.
  • Thanks to Magic Bounce, Mew is capable of switching into defensive pokemon and use them as set-up fodder.
  • Wearing down the opponent is important, as other pokemon could threaten Mew out with offensive presence.

Team Options
========

  • Gyaradosite Toxapex walls this set easily, and requires teammates to dispatch it before Mew can safely proceed with setting up. Teammates like Primal Groudon and Lucarionite Zygarde are good for this purpose.
  • Mew appreciates hazard support so it’ll need less chip to beat its checks. Therefore, Stealth Rock setters like Primal Groudon and Landorus-T are appreciated.
  • Set-up users like Zygarde are appreciated as they can use Mew's switch ins as set-up fodder, and Mew is capable of doing the same for the set-up users.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Roost allows Mew to recover from damage and continue to check various threats
  • Defog gives Mew the ability to remove hazards.
  • Alternatively, Stealth Rock is an option for Mew so it can set hazards.
  • Will-O-Wisp cripples physical attackers and enables Mew to handle them better.
  • U-turn allows Mew to pivot out of bad matchups, and bring in its teammates safely.
  • Iron Head is the STAB of choice, and allows Mew to handle Fairy-types.

Set Details
========

  • The EVs allows Mew to take on special attackers, like Tapu Lele, better.
  • The 80 Defense EVs allows Mew to take a hit from Kartana, cripple it, and make it easier for a revenge-killer to eliminate Kartana afterwards.
  • Aggronite grants Mew a valuable Steel typing, which gives Mew a large number of useful resistances, including a valuable resistance to Pixilate Extreme Speed, an immunity to Toxic, which helps prevent it from being worn down easily, and Filter. Filter allows Mew to take super-effective attacks better.
  • Synchronize is helpful for inflicting status on the foe, but Mew appreciates the extra bulk and its new typing more.

Usage Tips
========

  • Mew has an better defensive typing after mega evolving, so it's capable of taking on a variety of attackers. Filter also allows Mew to take on the likes of Primal Groudon and Zygarde, so Mew is capable of taking a hit from them in a pinch.
  • Mew should stay healthy whenever possible, so it is capable of checking foes on the opponent's side.
  • Will-O-Wisp allows Mew to cripple a large variety of physical attackers that aren't Fire-types. Therefore, Will-O-Wisp is usually a safe option to use against a healthy physical attacker, as Mew will then be able to take on those attackers better. This will also ease set up for its teammates.
  • U-turn allows Mew to bring in frail teammates safely, and pivot out of trouble if need be.
  • Mew can clear hazards or set them on forced switches, so its teammate can appreciate not being worn down, or requiring less chip to handle their checks.

Team Options
========

  • Although Mew has Special Defense investment, it still doesn't like taking many special attacks. Therefore, specially defensive pokemon like Blissey or Magearna are appreciated.
  • Mew, if not running Defog, appreciates teammates providing Defog support, as Mew does not like being chipped, however so slightly.
  • Mew is capable of acting like a pivot, so it can bring in frail wallbreakers, like Diancite Terrakion and Darkrai.
  • Mew can help ease other pokemon's sweeps with Will-O-Wisp and Stealth Rock, so teammates like Zygarde and Necrozma-Ultra appreciates the chip on their checks.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Due to Mew's large movepool, it is capable of running a large variety of stones.
  • Red Orb allows Mew to take on an offensive role, and powers up its Fire moves.
  • Lopunnite allows Mew to take on a physical sweeper role, but gains a weakness to Flying and Fairy.
  • Ampharosite or Gyaradosite allows Mew to perform the role of a hazard setter that can bypass Magic Bounce, but Mew struggles to compete with other hazard setters.
  • Mew is capable of running an -ate stone, but other Pokemon will often want them more than Mew does.
  • Mew can run Abomasnowite to act as a Aurora Veil setter, although the common Blue Orb and Red Orb users easily stop this in its tracks.
  • Mew is capable of running coverage option such as Thunderbolt, Earth Power, and Flamethrower on its Sablenite set, but they miss out on important targets.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Special Attackers with super effective moves**: Special attackers such as Darkrai, Lunala, and Yveltal are capable of striking Mew with strong attacks and take it out.

**Magearna**: Magearna can handle most of Mew's attacks and use it as set-up fodder, although it is prone to being worn down.

**Blissey** Blissey can easily shrug off any attacks from Mew's defensive sets. However, it must be wary of Psyshock or Focus Blast from the Sablenite set.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Mew is a strong defensive Pokemon. Elaborate more on this - why is it a strong defensive Pokemon? What stones give it defensive utility and for what reason?
  • A large support movepool enables it to fulfill a variety of roles.
  • It has good bulk when combined with the stones it uses. Completely irrelevant from the first point.
  • Mew may suffer from having four moveslot syndrome, forcing it to forego some utility options.
  • Mew can be easily overwhelmed. In this case, with its checks, the vulnerability to status can cause significant problems, so stacking Pokemon such as Entei and Zygarde can cause Mew to get worn down via hazards and Toxic from Entei quite quickly. Other Pokemon can often kamikaze theirselves into Mew, making it a vulnerable target in this case.
  • Mention Mew's general passivity here
  • Mention how Psychic is a mediocre defensive typing and can be bypassed by Ghost and Dark types, most of which are specially based however

Set Details
========

  • The EVs given maximizes physical bulk, enabling it to handle threats like Primal Groudon, Terrakion, and Zygarde
  • 44 Speed EVs allows it to outspeed max speed base 90s like Primal Groudon 56 Spe outspeeds Jolly Altarianite Landorus-T
  • Manectite grants Intimidate, which allows Mew to take on physical attackers, since they’re weaker at -1 and also gives Mew increased bulk and speed.
  • Synchronize is helpful before mega evolving, as Mew can use it to get status on the foe, but otherwise, intimidate is usually better Intimidate should be prioritized heavily, as Mew is often 2HKO'd by most of its checks if it isn't Mega Evolved.

Usage Tips
========

  • After mega evolving, Mew should be switched into physical attackers, as many of them will be weakened by Intimidate. Intimidate also has the benefit of going through Magic Bounce, allowing it to take on physical Diancite users, like Terrakion. Mention key targets that are weak to its coverage, as Mew is extremely passive to anything that it can't hit super effectively.
  • Mew should remain healthy wherever possible, so it can continue to take on various physical attackers.
  • Mew is capable of removing hazards versus common hazard setters like Primal Groudon and Terrakion, since it threatens them out.
  • Utilize Mew as a pivot - explain here why (both Defog and U-turn can do this with Intimidate!)

Team Options

  • Special walls, such as Blissey and Magearna, can take special attacks for Mew, while Mew can help them out by weakening the physical foes with intimidate to the point where the special walls can take on the foes themselves.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Nasty Plot enables Mew to set up, and deal massive damage at +2 'Massive' is subjective here - a lot of targets can actually handle Mew at +2, for example, Cameruptite Magearna takes at most 56% from Mew and threatens heavy damage on Mew or simply CMs up. Mention what targets Mew is good at setting up on, particularly with Psyshock as it is able to beat out CM Ceus.
  • Psychic is a strong STAB option, and allows Mew to hit many different targets hard. Main targets to look out for here are Terrakion.
  • Psyshock is an alternative option to strike the foe at the other defensive stat
  • Ice Beam - mention what targets it hits, what targets you'd miss out on dropping one of the coverage moves and why that might be bad
  • Focus Blast handles the Dark-types that would normally be able to switch into Psychic or Psyshock. It also hits Steel-types that would otherwise wall this set.
  • Roost enables Mew to stay healthy throughout the match and enables it to set-up in different situations.

Set Details

  • Sablenite allows Mew to become a bulky special attacker, taking hits to set up easier. It also grants Magic Bounce, which helps block status moves from affecting Mew, such as Toxic or Confide.
  • Mention pre-mega ability.

Usage Tips
========

  • Mew should attempt to set up in forced switches, as not much will want to take Mew’s attacks after a Nasty Plot. Also subjective - a lot of targets, Magearna / Lunala can easily take it on at +2
  • Mew should stay healthy using Roost, whenever possible.
  • Thanks to Magic Bounce, Mew is capable of switching into defensive pokemon and use them as set-up fodder.
  • Wearing down the opponent before setting up is really key to using Sablenite Mew - please mention this a bit more, as there are a lot of targets that can realistically take on +2 Mew simply by virtue of offensive pressure (or being Toxapex)

Team Options
========

Therefore, Stealth Rock setters like Terrakion or Arceus formes are appreciated. Neither of these are particularly good Stealth Rock setters - Pokemon such as Groudon-Primal and Landorus-Therian are better fits.
  • Mention other setup users like Zygarde as they can abuse most of Mew's switchins.

Comments in blue
Changes in red

Gonna have to reject this - it started out being somewhat plausible to change from there, but the clear lack of knowledge of what Mew does shows. A lot of parts of the analysis simply miss out important factors that change Mew's playstyle, such as its passivity when unboosted, what moves to use when, et cetera. This needs a lot more work for me to plausibly check it any further.

  • Will-O-Wisp allows Mew to cripple a large variety of physical attackers that aren't Fire-types. Therefore, Will-O-Wisp is usually a safe option to use against a healthy physical attacker like, as Mew will then be able to take on those attackers better. This will also ease set up for its teammates.

Checks and Counters
===================
Lunala bullet, it's the single best check to mew

**Special Attackers with super effective moves**: Special attackers such as Darkrai, Lunala, and Yveltal are capable of striking Mew with strong attacks and take it out.

**Magearna**: Magearna can handle most of Mew's attacks and use it as set-up fodder, although it is prone to being worn down.

**Blissey** Blissey can easily shrug off any attacks from Mew's defensive sets. However, it must be wary of Psyshock or Focus Blast from the Sablenite set.

Where's the pex bullet? The pdon section, since pdon's fire moves and SR make it a pain?

Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

[SET]
name: Sablenite Nasty Plot
move 1: Nasty Plot
move 2: Psychic / Psyshock
move 3: Focus Blast
move 4: Roost
item: Sablenite
ability: Synchronize
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 64 Def / 192 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

QC Reject 3/3 This is missing a lot of information still and a lot of the info currently there either isn't true or doesn't highlight what Mew does best
