UU Mienshao

:ss/mienshao:

[OVERVIEW]

A solid Speed tier, Regenerator, and moves like Knock Off and U-turn make Mienshao a solid choice for an offensive pivot or wallbreaker. Regenerator means that Mienshao isn't worn down by entry hazards, Rocky Helmet damage, and Life Orb recoil, giving it much more longevity than the average wallbreaker. Its good coverage moves in Poison Jab and Stone Edge can take out many of its would-be checks, such as Hatterene and Salamence. Mienshao is also one of the best Choice Scarf users in the metagame, being able to revenge kill threats like Lycanroc-D and Starmie while also outrunning other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Jirachi. However, Mienshao suffers from flaws that depend on the item and coverage moves that it is running. If running Life Orb, Mienshao has a mediorce Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed by threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, while running Choice Scarf makes it much harder to score KOs. It struggles with Pokemon like Moltres if not running Stone Edge and Hatterene if not running Poison Jab. Mienshao also has incredibly low HP and defenses, so priority attacks like Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Azumarill's Aqua Jet easily threaten it. It also does not have good coverage to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, both of which are very prominent in the tier.

move 3: U-turn
move 4: Stone Edge / Poison Jab
item: Life Orb

[SET COMMENTS]

Knock Off is especially useful for removing items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Rocky Helmet from checks like Salamence and Amoonguss. U-turn lets Mienshao pivot, allowing it to escape checks like Amoonguss and Buzzwole and safely bring in a teammate. Stone Edge KOes Flying-types like Salamence, Moltres, and Noivern. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu. Life Orb increases Mienshao's damage output, which allows it to perform better against physical walls such as Tangrowth.

Mienshao works best on balance and offense teams as a powerful wallbreaker that can easily cripple its foes with Knock Off, as well as form VoltTurn cores. Late-game sweepers such as Gyarados and Nihilego appreciate Mienshao wearing down their checks such as Salamence and Nidoqueen, allowing them to clean up more easily. Nihilego is an especially good partner because it can set entry hazards, which allow Mienshao to beat checks like Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Galarian Slowbro more easily. Other entry hazard setters like Jirachi and Rhyperior also work well as teammates. Mienshao's is outsped and revenge killed by common threats like Keldeo and Thundurus-T, so faster teammates are appreciated. Choice Scarf Krookodile makes an especially good partner for Mienshao, as their combined power allows them to overwhelm shared checks such as Amoonguss and Togekiss. Lycanroc-D is also a good option because it can check Keldeo and Thundurus-T for Mienshao. Mienshao greatly appreciates Future Sight support from teammates like Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro, which helps it take out its two biggest checks, Amoonguss and Buzzwole. Electric-types like Regieleki and Rotom-H form a fast VoltTurn core with Mienshao. Rotom-H is a particularly good partner, as it can remove some of Mienshao's biggest checks in Amoonguss, Buzzwole, and Tangrowth. Strong special attackers like Primarina and Azelf greatly appreciate Mienshao taking out Chansey and forming a strong wallbreaking core with them. RestTalk Primarina in particular is amazing as it can check Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo for Mienshao and be a generally fantastic defensive partner for it to fall back on.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf

move 2: Knock Off
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Stone Edge / Poison Jab
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Regenerator
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS}

With Choice Scarf, Mienshao becomes an excellent revenge killer, outspeeding and taking out foes like Thundurus, Keldeo, +1 Gyarados, and non-Choice Scarf Zarude. Knock Off prevents Aegislash from walling Mienshao and also removes items from checks like Salamence and Togekiss. Stone Edge takes out Flying-types like Salamence and Moltres, while Poison Jab handles Hatterene and Primarina. Regenerator prevents Mienshao being worn down by entry hazards, making it an even more effective pivot.

Choice Scarf Mienshao works best with hard-hitting attackers, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it, so it fits best on playstyles like bulky offense. Azelf and Noivern are both especially good partners for Mienshao, as their extremely high Speed tiers ensure a very fast pivoting core that lets them bring each other and their teammates in with ease. Dark-types like Zarude and Galarian Moltres can help deal with Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Azelf. In return, Mienshao can revenge kill threats like Gyarados and boosted Kommo-o for them. Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, and Chandelure appreciate Mienshao bring them in safely. In turn, it appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allows them to take on threats Mienshao struggles to break through such as Tangrowth and Nidoqueen. Steel-types like Aegislash and Jirachi are greatly appreciated as partners, as they can deal with Psychic- and Fairy-types like Galarian Slowbro and Primarina.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Assault Vest boosts Mienshao's bulk, synergizes with Regenerator, and lets it pivot decently into Nihilego and Aegislash, but it doesn't boost Speed or damage output. Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower, but Life Orb's flexibility is preferred despite the slight power loss. Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but it lacks other relevant targets and doesn't do much to Buzzwole anyway. Reckless + High Jump Kick makes Mienshao hit even harder, but the risk of missing is too great, and Mienshao also really needs the recovery from Regenerator.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves. However, they do have to scout Mienshao to see if it is running Poison Jab.

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Salamence and Moltres can easily wall Close Combat, forcing Mienshao to use the unreliable Stone Edge to take them out. Salamence can also cripple Mienshao with Intimidate, making it easier to pivot into. However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off.

**Physical Walls**: Pokemon like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Buzzwole can all comfortably shrug off Mienshao's attacks, even if it is holding a Life Orb.

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Keldeo, and Azelf can outspeed and revenge kill Mienshao; however, they must scout for Choice Scarf first. Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Azumarill can do the same thing with their priority attacks, but the latter needs a fair amount of chip damage to be able to OHKO Mienshao, and the former can't switch in safely against it.

[OVERVIEW]

  • A solid Speed tier, one of the best abilities in the game in Regenerator, and access to moves like Knock Off and U-Turn make Mienshao a solid choice for an offensive pivot.
  • Its wide movepool, with coverage moves such as Poison Jab and Stone Edge allows it to take out many of its would-be checks, such as Primarina and Moltres.
  • (Keep the points below since they are relevant, I would add less negative points here since part of what makes Mienshao good is that it has the option to run either; whether to boost its revenge killing prowess against Pokemon like Keldeo with scarf or improve wall breaking against Pokemon like Celesteela with life orb.)
  • However, Mienshao suffers from a major item crisis, leaving it with severe shortcomings depending on what item it runs.
  • If running a Life Orb, Mienshao suffers from a subpar Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed. (Add examples like Noivern and Lycanroc-D)
  • If running a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's offensive prowess is substantially weakened, making it much harder for it to score kills. (I would rephrase this to say that Mienshao is less immediately threatening with Scarf since it is a pretty good revenge killer)

[SET]
name: Offensive Pivot
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Poison Jab / Stone Edge
item: Life Orb
ability: Regenerator
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • Knock Off allows Mienshao to remove items, which is especially useful for removing Heavy-Duty Boots from checks such as Salamence and Moltres. (I would also mention that Knock keeps Mienshao from being entirely walled by Aegislash)
  • U-Turn gives Mienshao a form of pivoting, allowing it to bring in its teammates while giving it an extremely easy way to activate Regenerator. (You should mention Pokemon it particularly helps against like Amoonguss for a teammate like Rotom-H)
  • Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu, while also being more reliable thanks to its higher accuracy.(Point about Poison Jab, see point below)
  • Stone Edge cripples Flying-types like Salamence, Moltres-G, and Noivern on the switch that can easily wall Mienshao otherwise. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu, while also being more reliable thanks to its higher accuracy. (Poison Jab should be the first thing you talk about since that's your first slash)
  • Life Orb increases Mienshao's damage output, which allows it to perform slightly better against physical walls such as Tangrowth.
  • Mienshao is an especially good Life Orb user because Regenerator allows it to heal of the self-recoil with ease.

Paragraph 2
  • This Mienshao set works best on balance and offense teams as a powerful breaker that can easily cripple its foes.
  • Late-game sweepers such as Gyarados and Nihilego appreciate Mienshao wearing down a good amount of their checks, allowing them to clean up more easily
  • Nihilego is especially appreciated as a partner because its dual STAB is the same as both of Mienshao's coverage moves, meaning that it can easily take out all of its counters no matter what coverage move Mienshao is running. (You're not exactly off but this could be explained better. It helps pressure Flying-types like Molt and Mence and against Sylveon, but I don't think you should elaborate that it helps regardless of what coverage it runs because that would make the analysis unnecessarily long. Some other details I would add about Nihilego however is that it can provide Stealth Rock to help Mienshao break through Tang, provides Knock Off support against Celesteela and Aegislash, and appreciates Mienshao breaking through Chansey)
  • This Mienshao set has a subpar Speed tier, so faster teammates, like Noivern, Azelf, and Zygarde-10% are appreciated so that Mienshao does not get revenge killed so easily. (I mean, what do they help Mienshao not get revenge killed by? Noivern makes sense since it can offensively check Keldeo and Cobalion, but Zygarde-10% and Azelf are pretty miserable defensively so I would find different examples)
  • Scizor is a solid partner for this Mienshao set, as it can deal with Flying (Scizor does not resist flying and is checked by some like Molt Mence and Steela) and Fairy-types for it. The two also form a solid offensive pivoting core.

[SET]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Close Combat
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: U-turn
move 4: Poison Jab / Stone Edge Stone Edge / Poison Jab (imo Stone Edge is more important on this set for Mienshao to revenge kill targets like DDance Mence and gyara)
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Regenerator
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • When holding a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's Speed drastically increases, to the point where it becomes one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier. (fluff)
  • The Choice Scarf allows Mienshao to outspeed foes like Noivern and Azelf (I would give other standard examples on how it revenge kills mons like Lycanroc-D and Choice Scarf Krookodile with some other setup threats like Meteor Beam Nihilego and +2 offensive steela) that could easily outspeed and KO it if it was holding a Life Orb (fluff)
  • The increased Speed combined with the lack of Life Orb recoil makes Mienshao much harder to wear down, making it an even more effective pivot. (I would rephrase this as a it is a Choice Scarfer that is more difficult to wear down because of U-turn and Regenerator)

Paragraph 2
  • This Mienshao set works best with hard-hitting attackers that help it make up for the decrease in damage output from the lack of a Life Orb, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it.
  • Raikou and Noivern are both especially good partners for this Mienshao set, as their extremely high Speed tiers allow for the formation of a very fast pivoting core.
  • Powerful Dark-types, like Crawdaunt and Galarian Moltres-G, are appreciated as they can help deal with Psychic-types, which put more pressure on this Mienshao set thanks to the decreased damage output. (maybe more specific like bringing them in against Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro because other psychic types like Hatterene are pain)
  • Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Mamoswine appreciate being brought in safely by this Mienshao set. In return, Mienshao appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allow them to take on threats Mienshao cannot kill without a Life Orb. (examples like Moltres and Amoonguss)

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Assault Vest can be used to boost Mienshao's bulk while allowing for some solid synergy with Regenerator, but the lack of any offensive boosts makes it both too weak and too slow to accomplish its job as a pivot properly.
  • Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower while not having to deal with the recoil from Life Orb, but the decrease in Speed makes it much more risky to lock into a move.
  • Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Steel-types that take neutral damage from Close Combat like Scizor and Celesteela, but aside from those two mons, it is much worse as a coverage move.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves, forcing it to run Poison Jab to prevent itself from getting walled by them. (rephrase this to say that they have to be wary of poison jab considering that it is something they have to be conscious about)

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Salamence, Moltres, and Thundurus-I can all easily wall Mienshao's STAB, forcing it to use the unreliable Stone Edge to take them out. However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off.

**Physical walls**: Pokemon like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Celesteela can all confortably shrug off Mienshao's attacks, even if it is holding a Life Orb. (The defensive Celesteela set is not a good check to the life orb set, it gets 2HKOed raw by Close Combat)

**Psychic-types**: Slowbro-G can easily shrug off a Knock Off from Mienshao thanks to its if running Colbur Berry and do big damage back with Sludge Bomb. Azelf can outspeed non-Life Orb Mienshao and OHKO it with Psyshock.

  • Nihilego is especially appreciated as a partner because its dual STAB is the same as both of Mienshao's coverage moves, meaning that it can easily take out all of its counters no matter what coverage move Mienshao is running. this is a very weird reasoning to use nihilego? just say that it can set stealth rock to weaken checks like amoonguss and remove the item from mienshao checks like celesteela and defeat others like salamence.

Checks and Counters

order the points like this
- physical walls
- faster pokemon
- poison-types
- flying-types

- fairy-types

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves, forcing it to run Poison Jab to prevent itself from getting walled by them. pjab is a lot less common cuz hitting mence is crucial, so say they need to scout for it first

However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off. thundy is very frail, it can't wall shao at all. just mence and moltres works. intimidate on mence is very important, add that

**Physical walls**: Pokemon like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Celesteela Buzzwole steela is 2hkoed by cc can all confortably shrug off Mienshao's attacks, even if it is holding a Life Orb.

**Psychic-types**: Slowbro-G can easily shrug off a Knock Off from Mienshao thanks to its Colbur Berry and do big damage back with Sludge Bomb. Azelf can outspeed non-Life Orb Mienshao and OHKO it with Psyshock. these aren't relevant enough, glowbro can go under poison-types and azelf under faster pokemon

faster mons like keldeo, thundurus, lycanroc-d, azelf, and scarf zarude revenge kill it super easily cuz its defenses are very poor, so add a point on that. others like bp scizor can take advantage of cc lowering defenses too

add poison-types: amoonguss counters it unless shao runs blaze kick and slowbro g can run a cm colbur set.

  • special attackers like nihilego, primarina, and thundurus also love mienshao removing chansey for them, and they can form a wallbreaking core together

item: Choice Scarf
ability: Regenerator

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • When holding a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's Speed drastically increases, to the point where it becomes one of the fastest Pokemon in the tier.
  • The Choice Scarf allows Mienshao to outspeed foes like Noivern and Azelf that could easily outspeed and KO it if it was holding a Life Orb
  • The increased Speed combined with the lack of Life Orb recoil makes Mienshao much harder to wear down, making it an even more effective pivot.
  • this is very bare bones and you don't explain any of the moves or give hardly any reason to use scarf shao
  • talk about the moves like last set
  • mention that with a scarf, it becomes a great revenge killer that can remove a lot of pokemon like thundurus, keldeo, non-scarf zarude, +1 gyara
  • explain ability + speed evs, attack evs don't need to be explained cuz fluff

Paragraph 2
  • This Mienshao set works best with hard-hitting attackers that help it make up for the decrease in damage output from the lack of a Life Orb, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it. mention the types of teams it fits on
  • Raikou and Noivern are both especially good partners for this Mienshao set, as their extremely high Speed tiers allow for the formation of a very fast pivoting core. it's not really abt speed and more abt being able to consistently pivot out of their checks to either bring one another or wallbreakers voltturn partners are very nice, some other examples are toxtricity, rotom-h, and rotom-w
  • Powerful Dark-types, like Crawdaunt and Moltres-G Zarude and Galarian Moltres, are appreciated as they can help deal with Psychic-types, which put more pressure on this Mienshao set thanks to the decreased damage output. what can shao do for them in return?
  • Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Mamoswine appreciate being brought in safely by this Mienshao set. In return, Mienshao appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allow them to take on threats Mienshao cannot kill without a Life Orb.
  • mention wallbreakers that mienshao can bring on via u-turn to keep offensive pressure against checks, like chandelure against amoonguss, thundurus against celesteela etc
  • steel-types are very much a need to deal with psychic- and fairy-types like mew and primarina, so jirachi and assault vest tangrowth are good partners.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Steel-types that take neutral damage from Close Combat like Scizor and Celesteela Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but aside from those two mons, it is much worse as a coverage move.
  • you could also mention reckless + hjk being extremely high risk but also extremely high reward

Checks and Counters
===================

order the points like this
- physical walls
- faster pokemon
- poison-types
- flying-types

- fairy-types

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves, forcing it to run Poison Jab to prevent itself from getting walled by them. pjab is a lot less common cuz hitting mence is crucial, so say they need to scout for it first

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Salamence, Moltres, and Thundurus-I can all easily wall Mienshao's STAB, forcing it to use the unreliable Stone Edge to take them out. However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off. thundy is very frail, it can't wall shao at all. just mence and moltres works. intimidate on mence is very important, add that

[OVERVIEW]

  • A solid Speed tier, one of the best abilities in the game in Regenerator, and access to moves like Knock Off and U-Turn it's "U-turn" make Mienshao a solid choice for an offensive pivot.
  • Access to Regenerator means that Mienshao does not have to worry about getting worn down by hazards, Rocky Helmet damage, or Life Orb recoil, giving it much more longevity than the average wallbreaker.
  • Regenerator, in combination with U-Turn same thing here, allow Mienshao to spam Close Combat without abandon, as it can easily pivot out to heal off the damage and get rid of the stat boosts.
  • Its wide movepool, with coverage moves such as Poison Jab and Stone Edge allows it to take out many of its would-be checks, such as Sylveon and Salamence.
  • However, Mienshao suffers from a major item crisis, leaving it with severe shortcomings depending on what item it runs. If running a Life Orb, Mienshao suffers from a subpar Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed by threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, but if running a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's offensi#f982ffve prowess is substantially weakened, making it much harder for it to score kills.
  • Mienshao also has incredibly low HP and defenses, making it hard to activate Regenerator since it is more likely to get OHKOed. i get your point here but it's worded a lil weirdly; it'd be better to just say that its crappy bulk makes it really hard for it to actually take advantage of regenerator for anything other than offsetting recoil bc it can't switch into anything
  • It also does not have good coverage to deal with Poison- and Bug-types it has stone edge for those, i'd just say it can struggle to muscle past certain walls like amoonguss and buzzwole, which causes it to get walled by tier staples such as Amoonguss and Buzzwole.

[SET]

move 3: U-turn
move 4: Stone Edge / Poison Jab

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • Knock Off allows Mienshao to remove items, which is especially useful for removing items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Rocky Helmet from checks like Salamence and Amoonguss, respectively.
  • U-Turn again here gives Mienshao a form of pivoting, allowing it to bring in its teammates while giving it an extremely easy way to activate Regenerator.
  • Stone Edge cripples Flying-types like Salamence, Moltres-G, and Noivern that can easily wall Mienshao otherwise. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu, while also being more reliable thanks to its higher accuracy. would mention why jab isn't great i.e. most of these mons take a ton from CC already
  • Life Orb increases Mienshao's damage output, which allows it to perform slightly better against physical walls such as Tangrowth.
  • Regenerator allows Mienshao to heal whenever it switches out, greatly increasing its longevity
  • Maximum Speed EVs allow Mienshao to improve its Speed tier. these two aren't needed

Paragraph 2
  • This Mienshao set works best on balance and offense teams as a powerful breaker that can easily cripple its foes with Knock Off, as well as form VoltTurn cores.
  • Late-game sweepers such as Gyarados and Nihilego appreciate Mienshao wearing down a good amount of their checks, allowing them to clean up more easily.
  • Nihilego is an especially good partner for Mienshao because it can set hazards, which allow Mienshao to wear down and deal with its checks even better. Other hazard setters like Mew and Rhyperior also work well as teammates for the same reason.
  • Mienshao's Speed tier is subpar, so faster teammates are appreciated to prevent Mienshao from getting revenge killed so easily. it's not really subpar necessarily but it isn't great, give examples here - stuff like lycanroc-d can patch up the thundy/keld weakness, scarf krook can help with those two if they're weakened too etc.
  • Mienshao greatly appreciates Future Sight support from teammates like Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro, as it helps Mienshao take out its two biggest checks, Amoonguss and Buzzwole.
  • Electric-types like Raikou would rather you mentioned thundurus instead of raikou since it's just a lot better and Rotom-H are able to form a fast VoltTurn core with Mienshao. Rotom-H is a particularly good partner for Mienshao, as it can remove some of Mienshao's biggest checks in Amoonguss, Celesteela, Buzzwole, and Tangrowth. Mienshao can use U-Turn here too to bring Rotom-H in easily against said checks, while also being able to deal with some of Rotom-H's biggest checks, like Rhyperior and Nihilego.
  • Krookodile makes an especially good partner for Mienshao as their combined power allows them to overwhelm their shared checks, such as Amoonguss and Celesteela. bring this up to the speed control point
  • Strong special attackers like Primarina and Thundurus greatly appreciate Mienshao being able to take out one of their biggest checks in Chansey, as well as forming a strong wallbreaking core with it.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • With a Choice Scarf, Mienshao becomes an excellent revenge killer, being able to outspeed and take out foes like Thundurus, Keldeo, +1 Speed Gyarados, and non-Scarf Zarude.
  • The Choice Scarf also allows Mienshao to outspeed foes like Noivern and Azelf that could easily outspeed and KO it.
  • The lack of Life Orb recoil makes Mienshao much harder to wear down, making it an even more effective pivot.
  • The combination of U-Turn U-turn and the Choice Scarf increases Mienshao's efficiency as a pivot, allowing it to switch out first and safely bring other wallbreakers onto the field. it's moreso that it can force switches against the likes of boots zarude and nihilego, which -then- gets breakers in
  • A Jolly nature and maximum Speed EVs make Mienshao even faster, increasing it ability to pivot out extremeley quickly. unneeded

Paragraph 2
  • This Mienshao set works best with hard-hitting attackers that help it make up for the decrease in damage output from the lack of a Life Orb, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it.
  • Raikou thund mention again would be better and Noivern are both especially good partners for this Mienshao set, as their extremely high Speed tiers allow for the formation of a very fast pivoting core.

In return, Mienshao can help deal with other Dark-types these mons aren't really bothered by other dark types, if anything mention how mienshao can revenge kill threats like gyarados and boosted kommo-o for them.
  • Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D and Mamoswine appreciate being brought in safely by this Mienshao set. In return, Mienshao appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allow them to take on threats Mienshao cannot kill without a Life Orb.
  • Steel-types like Scizor and Jirachi are greatly appreciated as partners, as they can deal with Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mew and Primarina for it.
  • Wallbreakers like Chandelure and Thundurus appreciate Mienshao being able to easily bring them in against its checks, such as Amoonguss and Celesteela, with U-Turn. i think you can remove this - just bring the chandy point up above to frail wallbreakers and replace the above raikou mention with thundurus and you should be good

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • Assault Vest can be used to boost Mienshao's bulk while allowing for some solid synergy with Regenerator, but the lack of any offensive boosts makes it both too weak and too slow to accomplish its job as a pivot properly. the speed and power isn't an issue, it's just that it doesn't check much of anything - you can mention that it's a decent pivot into the likes of nihilego and aegislash but it's pretty bad overall
  • Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower while not having to deal with the recoil from Life Orb, but the decrease in Speed makes it much more risky to lock into a move. id just mention that it doesnt really care about the recoil and not being able to switch moves sucks
  • Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but aside from those two mons Pokemon, it is much worse as a coverage move. it also doesn't really do crap to buzzwole in the first place
  • A combination of Reckless and High Jump Kick can be run to make Mienshao hit even harder, but the risk of missing is too great, and Mienshao also really needs the recovery from Regenerator.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves. However, they do have to scout Mienshao to see if it is running Poison Jab

**Poison-types**: Slowbro-G can easily shrug off a Knock Off from Mienshao thanks to its Colbur Berry and do big damage back with Sludge Bomb. Amoonguss resists all of Mienshao's moves except for the fringe Blaze Kick, making it a hard counter.

**Faster Pokemon**: Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Keldeo, and Azelf can use their higher Speed to take advantage of Mienshao's low defenses and revenge kill it.

  • However, Mienshao suffers from a major item crisis, leaving it with severe shortcomings depending on what item it runs. (this is worded weirdly, it sounds if you're saying that it struggles to pick and item when both sets do different things. I'd reword to say something along the lines of "However, Mienshao has flaws depending on what item it chooses to run") If running a Life Orb, Mienshao suffers from a subpar vulnerable Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed by threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, but if running a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's offensive prowess is substantially weakened, making it much harder for it to score kills.
  • Mienshao also has incredibly low HP and defenses, which makes it hard to make good use of Regenerator since it is easily KOed. It also is threatened by priority attacks like Scizor's Bullet Punch and Azumarill's Aqua Jet, but the latter needs a fair amount of chip to OHKO Mienshao.
  • It also does not have good coverage to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, both of which are very prominent in the tier. also add how mienshao is walled by certain pokemon depending on if it chooses poison jab or stone edge. You can bring up pokemon like hatterene and moltres respectively. however, also mention how they must scout at first otherwise they risk taking significant damage from Mienshao's coverage

However, many Fairy-types already take a lot of damage from Close Combat, so Poison Jab should only be used over Stone Edge if absolutely necessary.

=============
  • Assault Vest can be used to boost Mienshao's bulk while allowing for some solid synergy with Regenerator and making it able to pivot decently into Nihilego and Aegislash, but aside from that, this set performs poorly, as it lacks both speed and damage output
  • Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower, but locking into a single move is not very good for it. (by this logic scarf would be bad. I'd change the reasoning that Life Orb gives mienshao similar firepower but the ability to change moves, making it the preferred item to wallbreak)
  • Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but aside from those two Pokemon, it is much worse as a coverage move, and it doesn't do much to Buzzwole anyway.

[OVERVIEW]

A solid Speed tier, one of the best abilities in the game in Regenerator, and access to moves like Knock Off and U-turn make Mienshao a solid choice for an offensive pivot or wallbreaker. Access to Regenerator means that Mienshao does not have to worry about getting worn down by hazards, Rocky Helmet damage, or Life Orb recoil, giving it much more longevity than the average wallbreaker. Regenerator, in combination with U-turn, allow Mienshao to spam Close Combat without abandon, as it can easily pivot out to heal off the damage and get rid of the stat boosts. I fail to see how Regen in this case matters when it comes to clicking CC. You aren't losing health in the process. Its wide movepool, with coverage moves such as Poison Jab and Stone Edge allows it to take out many of its would-be checks, such as Hatterene and Salamence. As a Choice Scarf user, Mienshao is also one of the best methods of speed control in the metagame, being able to revenge kill threats like Lycanroc-D and Starmie while also being to outrun other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Jirachi. However, Mienshao suffers from flaws that depend on the item that it is running. If running a Life Orb, Mienshao suffers from a vulnerable Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed by threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, but if running a Choice Scarf, Mienshao's offensive prowess is substantially weakened, making it much harder for it to score KOs kills. Mienshao also has incredibly low HP and defenses, which makes it hard to make good use of Regenerator since it is easily KOed. Just immediately follow up that this makes it prone to be revenge killed by strong priority. It is also threatened by priority attacks like Scizor's Bullet Punch and Azumarill's Aqua Jet. It also does not have good coverage to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, both of which are very prominent in the tier. Other Pokemon can also easily wall it if it does not have the right coverage moves. For example, without Stone Edge it is walled by Moltres, while without Poison Jab, it is walled by Hatterene. I wouldn't say walled because getting a Knock Off vs Moltres is pretty impactful. Even Hatt doesn't want to take Knock into repeated U-turns etc. Perhaps 'struggles to break through' instead.

Paragraph 1

Knock Off allows Mienshao to remove items, which is especially useful for removing items like Heavy-Duty Boots and Rocky Helmet from checks like Salamence and Amoonguss, respectively. U-turn gives Mienshao a form of pivoting, allowing it to bring in its teammates while giving it an extremely easy way to activate Regenerator. Instead of talking about Regen just have a statement saying what foes it ideally wants to U-turn out against. Stone Edge cripples KOs Flying-types like Salamence, Moltres, and Noivern that can easily wall Mienshao otherwise. Poison Jab hits Fairy-types such as Primarina, Azumarill, and Tapu Bulu, while also being more reliable thanks to its higher accuracy. However, many Fairy-types already take a lot of damage from Close Combat, so Poison Jab should only be used over Stone Edge if absolutely necessary. Choice Specs Primarina is like the only Fairy taking 50 from CC With the exception of Amoonguss and Buzzwole, these five moves allow Mienshao to hit the entire tier for unresisted damage. Life Orb increases Mienshao's damage output, which allows it to perform better against physical walls such as Tangrowth.

Paragraph 2

Mienshao works best on balance and offense teams as a powerful breaker that can easily cripple its foes with Knock Off, as well as form VoltTurn cores. Late-game sweepers such as Gyarados and Nihilego appreciate Mienshao wearing down a good amount of their checks such as Chansey and Jirachi, allowing them to clean up more easily. Neither of these two are switching into a Mienshao for it to wear them down. Talk about Salamence and Nidoqueen instead respectively Nihilego is an especially good partner for Mienshao because it can set hazards, which allow Mienshao to bypass checks like Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Slowbro-Galar Galarian Slowbro easier. Other hazard setters like Mew and Rhyperior also work well as teammates for the same reason. Mienshao's Speed tier is vulnerable to common threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, so faster teammates are appreciated to prevent Mienshao from getting revenge killed so easily. Choice Scarf Krookodile makes an especially good partner for Mienshao as their combined power allows them to overwhelm their shared checks, such as Amoonguss and Togekiss Celesteela. Lycanroc-D is also a good partner because it can check Keldeo and Thundurus for Mienshao. Mienshao greatly appreciates Future Sight support from teammates like Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro, as it helps Mienshao take out its two biggest checks, Amoonguss and Buzzwole. Electric-types like Thundurus and Rotom-H are able to form a fast VoltTurn core with Mienshao. Rotom-H is a particularly good partner for Mienshao, as it can remove some of Mienshao's biggest checks in Amoonguss, Scizor, Buzzwole, and Tangrowth. Mienshao can use U-turn to bring Rotom-H in easily against said checks, while also being able to deal with some of Rotom-H's biggest checks, like Rhyperior and Nihilego. Not that necessary to state Strong special attackers like Primarina and Thundurus greatly appreciate Mienshao being able to take out one of their biggest checks in Chansey, as well as forming a strong wallbreaking core with it. RestTalk Primarina in particular is an amazing partner for Mienshao, as it can check Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo for it and being a generally fantastic defensive partner for Mienshao to fall back on.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1

With a Choice Scarf, Mienshao becomes an excellent revenge killer, being able to outspeed and take out foes like Thundurus, Keldeo, +1 Speed Gyarados, and non-Choice Scarf Zarude. The lack of Life Orb recoil makes Mienshao much harder to wear down, making it an even more effective pivot. Don't reference its other set with comments about LO. Just make this about Regenerator allowing it to stay healthy throughout a match. The combination of U-turn and the Choice Scarf increases Mienshao's efficiency as a pivot, allowing it to force switches against Pokemon like Boots Zarude and and safely bring other wallbreakers onto the field. Just state that Knock Off prevents it from being walled by Aegislash and is a spammable move to remove items from Pokemon like Salamence, Togekiss, etc. Then say what Edge and Poison Jab are for.

Paragraph 2

This Mienshao set works best with hard-hitting attackers that help it make up for the decrease in damage output from the lack of a Life Orb, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it, so it finds itself fitting best on playstyles like bulky offense. Thundurus and Noivern are both especially good partners for this Mienshao set, as their extremely high Speed tiers allow for the formation of a very fast pivoting core. Why is this good? Dark-types, like Zarude and Galarian Moltres, are appreciated as they can help deal with Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Mew, which put more pressure on Mienshao thanks to the decreased damage output. In return, Mienshao can revenge kill threats like Gyarados and boosted Kommo-o for them it. Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, and Chandelure appreciate being brought in safely by Mienshao. In return, Mienshao appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allow them to take on threats Mienshao cannot kill without a Life Orb such as Tangrowth and Jirachi. Again stop referencing its LO set. Just list the Pokemon it wants gone to clean more easily. Jirachi is not one of them Steel-types like Scizor and Jirachi are greatly appreciated as partners, as they can deal with Psychic- and Fairy-types like Mew Galarian Slowbro and Primarina for it. Mention that Scizor's strong Bullet Punch can revenge kill Pokemon like Swords Dance Diggersby and Belly Drum Azumarill, two foes Mienshao is unable to revenge due to them also having strong priority moves once boosted.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Assault Vest can be used to boost Mienshao's bulk while allowing for some solid synergy with Regenerator and making it able to pivot decently into Nihilego and Aegislash, but aside from that, this set performs poorly, as it lacks both speed and damage output. Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower, but Life Orb gives Mienshao similar firepower without forcing it to lock into a move, making it the preferred item to wallbreak. Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but aside from those two Pokemon, it is much worse as a coverage move, and it doesn't do much to Buzzwole anyway. A combination of Reckless and High Jump Kick can be run to make Mienshao hit even harder, but the risk of missing is too great, and Mienshao also really needs the recovery from Regenerator.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves. However, they do have to scout Mienshao to see if it is running Poison Jab

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Salamence and Moltres add space can all easily wall Mienshao's STAB, forcing it to use the unreliable Stone Edge to take them out. Salamence especialyy can also easily cripple Mienshao with Intimidate making it easier to pivot into. However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off.

**Physical walls**: Pokemon like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Buzzwole can all confortably comfortably shrug off Mienshao's attacks, even if it is holding a Life Orb.

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Keldeo, and Azelf can use their higher Speed to take advantage of Mienshao's low defenses and revenge kill it; however, they must scout to see if Mienshao is holding a Choice Scarf first. Pokemon like Scizor and Azumarill can do the same thing with their priority attacks, but the latter needs a fair amount of chip to be able to OHKO Mienshao

With a Choice Scarf, Mienshao becomes an excellent revenge killer, being able to outspeeding and take taking out foes like Thundurus, Keldeo, +1 Speed Gyarados, and non-Choice Scarf Zarude. Knock Off prevents Mienshao from being walled by Aegislash,(RC) and also helps it remove items from checks like Salamence and Togekiss. Stone Edge allows Mienshao to takes out Flying-types like Salamence and Moltres, while Poison Jab allows it to take out handles Hatterene and Primarina. Regenerator prevents Mienshao being worn down by entry hazards easily, making it an even more effective pivot.

This Choice Scarf Mienshao set works best with hard-hitting attackers, as well as other fast pivots that can form a VoltTurn core with it, so it finds itself fitting best on playstyles like bulky offense. Thundurus and Noivern are both especially good partners for this Mienshao set, as their extremely high Speed tiers allow for the formation of a very fast pivoting core that lets them bring each other and their teammates in with ease. Dark-types,(RC) like Zarude and Galarian Moltres,(RC) are appreciated,(AC) as they can help deal with Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Azelf. In return, Mienshao can revenge kill threats like Gyarados and boosted Kommo-o for them. Frail wallbreakers like Lycanroc-D, Mamoswine, and Chandelure appreciate being brought in safely by Mienshao. In return, Mienshao appreciates these Pokemon's raw power, which allow them to take on threats Mienshao struggles to break through such as Tangrowth and Nidoqueen. Steel-types like Aegislash and Jirachi are greatly appreciated as partners, as they can deal with Psychic- and Fairy-types like Galarian Slowbro and Primarina for it.

Assault Vest can be used to boost Mienshao's bulk while allowing for some solid synergy with Regenerator and making it able to pivot decently into Nihilego and Aegislash boosts Mienshao's bulk, synergizes with Regenerator, and lets it pivot decently into Nihilego and Aegislash, but aside from that, this set performs poorly, as it lacks both Speed(capitalize) and damage output. Choice Band can be used to increase Mienshao's firepower, but Life Orb gives Mienshao similar firepower without forcing it to lock into a move, making it the preferred item to wallbreak. Blaze Kick can be used to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, but aside from those two Pokemon,(RC) it is much worse as a coverage move,(RC) it lacks other relevant targets and it doesn't do much to Buzzwole anyway. A combination of Reckless and High Jump Kick can be run to Reckless + High Jump Kick makes Mienshao hit even harder, but the risk of missing is too great, and Mienshao also really needs the recovery from Regenerator.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fairy-types**: Primarina, Azumarill, Hatterene, and Tapu Bulu resist all of Mienshao's main attacking moves,(period to comma) However, they do have to scout Mienshao to see if it is running but they have to scout for Poison Jab.

**Flying-types**: Pokemon like Salamence and Moltres can all easily wall Mienshao's STAB Close Combat, forcing it to use the unreliable Stone Edge to take them out. Salamence can also cripple Mienshao with Intimidate, making it easier to pivot into. However, these Pokemon are usually very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots, meaning that Mienshao can easily cripple them with Knock Off.

**Physical Walls(capitalize)**: Pokemon like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Buzzwole can all comfortably shrug off Mienshao's attacks, even if it is holding a Life Orb.

**Faster Pokemon and Priority**: Pokemon like Lycanroc-D, Keldeo, and Azelf can use their higher Speed to take advantage of Mienshao's low defenses and outspeed and revenge kill it Mienshao; however, they must scout to see if Mienshao is holding a for Choice Scarf first. Pokemon like Lycanroc-D and Azumarill can do the same thing with their priority attacks, but the latter needs a fair amount of chip to be able to OHKO Mienshao, and the former can't switch in safely against Mienshao.

[OVERVIEW]

A solid Speed tier, Regenerator, and moves like Knock Off and U-turn make Mienshao a solid choice for an offensive pivot or wallbreaker. Regenerator means that Mienshao does not have to worry about getting isn't worn down by entry hazards, Rocky Helmet damage, and Life Orb recoil, giving it much more longevity than the average wallbreaker. Its wide movepool, with coverage moves such as Poison Jab and Stone Edge, allows it to good coverage moves in Poison Jab and Stone Edge can take out many of its would-be checks, such as Hatterene and Salamence. As a Choice Scarf user, Mienshao is also one of the best methods of speed control Mienshao is also one of the best Choice Scarf users in the metagame, being able to revenge kill threats like Lycanroc-D and Starmie while also being to outrun outrunning other Choice Scarf users like Krookodile and Jirachi. However, Mienshao suffers from flaws that depend on the item and coverage moves that it is running. If running Life Orb, Mienshao has a mediorce Speed tier, leaving it easily revenge killed by threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, while running Choice Scarf weakens its offensive prowess, making makes it much harder to score KOs. It struggles with Pokemon like Moltres if not running Stone Edge and Hatterene if not running Poison Jab. Mienshao also has incredibly low HP and defenses, which means that it is easily threatened by so priority attacks like Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Azumarill's Aqua Jet easily threaten it. It also does not have good coverage to deal with Amoonguss and Buzzwole, both of which are very prominent in the tier. Mienshao can also struggle to break through certain Pokemon if it does not have the right coverage moves. For example, it struggles with Moltres if not running Stone Edge and with Hatterene if not running Poison Jab.

Mienshao works best on balance and offense teams as a powerful wallbreaker that can easily cripple its foes with Knock Off, as well as forming VoltTurn cores. Late-game sweepers such as Gyarados and Nihilego appreciate Mienshao wearing down their checks such as Salamence and Nidoqueen, allowing them to clean up more easily. Nihilego is an especially good partner for Mienshao because it can set entry hazards, which allow Mienshao to beat checks like Hatterene, Tangrowth, and Galarian Slowbro easier. more easily. Other entry hazard setters like Jirachi and Rhyperior also work well as teammates. Mienshao's Speed tier is vulnerable to is outsped and revenge killed by common threats like Keldeo and Thundurus, so faster teammates are appreciated to prevent Mienshao from getting revenge killed so easily. Choice Scarf Krookodile makes an especially good partner for Mienshao, as their combined power allows them to overwhelm shared checks such as Amoonguss and Togekiss. Lycanroc-D is also a good partner option because it can check Keldeo and Thundurus for Mienshao. Mienshao greatly appreciates Future Sight support from teammates like Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro, as it helps Mienshao which helps it take out its two biggest checks, Amoonguss and Buzzwole. Electric-types like Thundurus and Rotom-H are able to form a fast VoltTurn core with Mienshao. Rotom-H is a particularly good partner for Mienshao, as it can remove some of Mienshao's biggest checks (RC) in Amoonguss, Buzzwole, and Tangrowth. Strong special attackers like Primarina and Thundurus greatly appreciate Mienshao taking out Chansey and forming a strong wallbreaking core with them. RestTalk Primarina in particular is an amazing partner for Mienshao, amazing, as it can check Pokemon like Salamence and Keldeo for it Mienshao and be a generally fantastic defensive partner for Mienshao it to fall back on.
