UU Mimikyu

Stoward

Ah, you're finally awake
[OVERVIEW]
Mimikyu has a solid place on UU offensive teams as a revenge killer and cleaner. Its STAB moves provide neutral coverage on the entire tier (comma) while its typing makes it one of the few Ghost-types that aren't forced out by Pursuit, and it can threaten most Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Krookodile with a super effective STAB Play Rough. Arguably, Mimikyu's biggest selling point is its brilliant ability in Disguise, which guarantees it a free turn without taking damage. This allows it to check and revenge kill faster offensive threats such as Latias, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion, as well as providing it with an opportunity to break through bulkier teams in conjunction with Swords Dance. Mimikyu can also act as a valuable spinblocker, as it is able to apply decent offensive pressure against Starmie and Tentacruel. However, Mimikyu's initial damage output can be rather underwhelming, as it struggles to be a threat to physically bulkier threats such as Amoonguss, and without the use of Wood Hammer, it is impossible for it to beat Quagsire and Pyukumuku. The omnipresence of Steel-types also hinders Mimikyu's ability to thrive in the tier, as even with multiple boosts, it can fail to break through bulkier Steel-types such as Mega Aggron, while offensive Steel-types like Cobalion can outspeed and OHKO it after its Disguise has been busted. Furthermore, while Disguise provides it with the ability to check a large number of Pokemon, Mimikyu is unable to switch into any of them, as once it loses its Disguise, it loses most of its utility. Its average Speed stat also means that it has to rely heavily on Disguise to check faster offensive threats such as Hydreigon or on a weaker move in Shadow Sneak in order to revenge kill foes.

Moves
========

Swords Dance compensates for Mimikyu's otherwise average damage output, providing it with better chances to OHKO faster threats such as Latias, Celebi, and Gengar with Shadow Sneak. Play Rough is Mimikyu's most powerful Fairy-type STAB move, allowing it to beat targets such as Mega Altaria, Krookodile, and Hydreigon. Shadow Claw is its most powerful Ghost-type STAB attack and provides it with perfect neutral coverage. Shadow Sneak gives Mimikyu a priority move, compensating for its average Speed tier to revenge kill faster, weakened threats such as Latias, Terrakion, and Mega Aerodactyl.

Set Details
========

252 EVs in Attack and Speed allows Mimikyu to hit as hard and as fast as possible. An Adamant nature helps boost Mimikyu's damage output and claim a number of KOs that a Jolly nature misses out on, such as OHKOing Krookodile with an unboosted Play Rough after Stealth Rock and OHKOing Choice Band Scizor with a +2 Shadow Claw after Stealth Rock and one layer of Spikes. On the other hand, a Jolly nature is needed for Mimikyu to outpace non-Choice Scarf Krookodile, Nidoking, and Rotom-H, which can break its Disguise if they outspeed it, potentially costing it opportunities to set up and turns on the battlefield. Life Orb provides Mimikyu with a consistent damage output, making it the preferred item. However, Ghostium Z is a nice option, as Never-Ending Nightmare can help against Pokemon that it otherwise struggles to break through, being able to OHKO Cobalion and bulky Scizor sets at +2 after Stealth Rock, as well as doing the same to Amoonguss when running an Adamant nature. However, by forgoing Life Orb, Mimikyu misses out on a number of KOs against other threats, such as KOing offensive Mega Altaria with Play Rough and potentially taking out Gengar with Shadow Sneak after Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Most of Mimikyu's utility comes from its ability Disguise, so it is optimal to avoid letting Mimikyu take any hits, especially if there are offensive threats that Mimikyu can take out such as Latias. This is also applicable when trying to use Mimikyu as a spinblocker against Tentacruel or Starmie, because if they opt to attack instead of attempting to use Rapid Spin, Mimikyu's Disguise will be busted. In earlier stages of the game, Mimikyu should be used to revenge kill slower foes with Play Rough or Shadow Claw and revenge kill faster, weakened foes with Shadow Sneak, but it can also be used to switch in on Pokemon that it can comfortably check such as Latias and force them out. Mimikyu can also prevent opposing Pokemon from sweeping teams such as by KOing a boosted Mega Altaria with Play Rough or KOing a boosted Celebi, as it is guaranteed to survive a hit thanks to its Disguise. If Mimikyu is able to avoid situations where its Disguise has been broken, it can also potentially be used as a late-game cleaner, using its Disguise as a free opportunity to boost its Attack stat with Swords Dance, allowing it to break through bulker targets such as Hippowdon more easily and to KO faster foes from full with Shadow Claw such as Latias, Celebi, and opposing Mimikyu as long as their own Disguise is busted.

Team Options
========

Mimikyu is a staple Pokemon on hazard stacking teams, as it's immune to Rapid Spin, and entry hazards allow Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it normally would struggle to get, leading to it often being paired with hazard setters such as Froslass and Araquanid or offensive Stealth Rock setters such as Cobalion, Mamoswine, and Terrakion. It can also be used on bulkier teams as an offensive Fairy-type, commonly in place of Mega Altaria when the Mega slot has been filled by another Pokemon, filling the role of a much-needed check to threats such as Latias and Mega Altaria. Checks to Steel-types are mandatory for teams with Mimikyu, as it struggles to break through them and is KOed by all their Steel-type attacks. Noteworthy examples of these checks are Cobalion, Infernape, and Lucario. Cobalion is also able to provide an offensive Stealth Rock setter, while Infernape and Lucario significantly improve the team's matchup against stall, as they're both able to OHKO Quagsire with All-Out Pummeling after Stealth Rock or comfortably 2HKO it with Life Orb-boosted Focus Blast. All of these are also able to improve the matchup against Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Sharpedo. Other wallbreakers that commonly find themselves on hyper offense teams tend to perform well with Mimikyu. Dragonium Z Latias pairs brilliantly with Mimikyu, as it's able to take out Quagsire due to it ignoring Latias's Special Attack drops from Draco Meteor while pressuring Blissey with Psyshock and Steel-types with Hidden Power Fire. Mega Sharpedo can act as a valuable late-game cleaner while also being able to comfortably pressure Ghost-types that Mimikyu dislikes such as Gengar and Chandelure.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Wood Hammer can be used over Shadow Claw to have an improved matchup against stall, as it's able to break through the classic Blissey + Alomomola + Quagsire core and also 2HKOes Pyukumuku. However, Mimikyu ends up taking a huge amount of recoil damage from this, often KOing itself in the process before being able to make a major dent in the team, and the loss of Shadow Claw means that it's completely unable to break through Steel-types and other bulky Fairy-resistant Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Rotom-H. Red Card can be a nice item to utilize Mimikyu's Disguise by forcing in a random Pokemon when it has been busted, either for a free setup turn or to force out an opposing setup sweeper.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Mimikyu fails to even 2HKO bulky Steel-type Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix and is OHKOed by their Steel-type STAB attacks. Scizor OHKOes Mimikyu with priority Bullet Punch, and Mimikyu can't OHKO Scizor without boosts, while Doublade's high Defense stat allows it to beat Mimikyu one-on-one. Cobalion has enough natural bulk to avoid being 2HKOed by Mimikyu and is able to OHKO it in return with Iron Head.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Mimikyu relies heavily on boosts, so unless it's running Wood Hammer to combat Unaware Quagsire and Pyukumuku, it's not going to be able to break through them. (AP) Quagsire can also potentially render Mimikyu useless if it's able to burn it with Scald or wear it down with Toxic, and Pyukumuku can drain its PP with Spite.

**Physically Defensive Pokemon**: Physically defensive Pokemon such as Alomomola, Amoonguss, and Rhyperior are able to comfortably take boosted attacks from Mimikyu and annoy it back by either burning it with Scald, removing its stat boosts with Clear Smog, or KOing it with Earthquake or Stone Edge. Hippowdon can also be problematic, as it has enough natural bulk to take any attack from Mimikyu at +4, can phaze it with Whirlwind, and can recover damage off with Slack Off.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl can be quite problematic to Mimikyu if its Disguise has been busted, as they're able to take advantage of Mimikyu's low defenses and KO it before it's able to sweep.

[OVERVIEW]
* Mimikyu is blessed with a brilliant offensive typing, as it's STAB Moves hit the entire tier for neutral coverage at worst.
* It also has a great defensive typing, as it isn't crippled by pursuit and can threaten most Dark-types with a Super-effective STAB Play Rough. Give examples e.g. Hydreigon
* Brilliant ability in disguise, guaranteeing a free turn without taking damage, which can be deadly when combined with Swords Dance I would put more elaboration on its ability as it is a huge thing about Mimikyu's kit. Say how it makes it an amazing revenge killer for example than saying deadly, then give examples of what it revenge kills
* Mimikyu's ability as a spin blocker who can adequately pressure Rapid Spin users such as Starmie and Mega Blastoise allows it to serve a brilliant role in hazard stacking archetypes,
* Mimikyu's overall damage output can be rather underwhelming though, as it's low base attack stat combined with the fact that it is most powerful attack only has a base power of 90 means that it has to rely on boosts from Swords Dance and Entry Hazards in order for it to be a decent threat to opposing teams.
* Fortunately, due to its great typing and ability, it is able to quite comfortably boost its attack and provide enough offensive pressure to prevent hazard removal from opposing teams. This point should be combined with the part where you mention its ability and typing previously.

*Mention a point on how it struggles to break past the tiers Steel-types and can be revenge killed by some of them like Scizor and Coba.

Moves
========

* Swords Dance increases Mimikyu's attack stat by 2 stages, compensating for its otherwise average damage output.
* Play Rough is most powerful Fairy STAB in Mimikyu's Movepool, hitting targets such as Mega Altaria, Latias, Hydreigon and Krookodile for Super Effective damage. I would just keep it to three examples maximum
* Shadow Claw is most powerful Ghost STAB attack. When paired with Play Rough, this provides Mimikyu with near-perfect coverage. Hitting every viable Pokemon in the tier for neutral damage at worst. At worst sounds weird to me, I'd say "hit the entire tier for super-effective or neutral damage" instead + prevents you repeating yourself
* Shadow Sneak offers Mimikyu with priority, allowing it to revenge kill weakened foes. provide examples here.
* Wood Hammer can be used over Shadow Sneak to have an improved matchup against Stall as it's able to break through the classic Blissey Alomomola Quagsire core and also 2HKO Pyukumuku. However it ends up taking a huge amount of recoil damage from this, often KOing itself in the process before being able to make a major dent in the team. The removal of Shadow Sneak also removes Mimikyu's priority, thus limiting its revenge killing capabilities. I don't think Wood hammer is worth being brought up here than in oo. But maybe QC thinks otherwise

Set Details
========

* A simple offensive EV Spread is used for Mimikyu with 252 EVs in Attack and Speed, allowing Mimikyu to hit as hard as possible as soon as possible.
* Both Adamant and Jolly Natures are plausible options for Mimikyu. An Adamant Nature helps boost Mimikyu's damage output and claims a number of KOs that a Jolly Nature misses out on, such as 2HKOing Mega Blastoise after Stealth Rock Damage. On the other hand, a Jolly Nature is needed in order for Mimikyu to outpace Lucario, Moltres, Nidoking, Krookodile and Rotom-H. too many examples cut it down to three, and mention how being outsped by them can cost Mimikyu it's Disguise as consequence
* Life Orb provides Mimikyu with a more consistent damage output, making it the preferred set. item However Ghostium-Z is a nice option as a 1-turn nuke against bulkier Pokemon, allowing it to KO Amoonguss with Never Ending Nightmare after a single Swords Dance Boost Well it doesn't KO from full, it KOs after rocks. However, by forgoing the Life Orb, you miss out on a number of KOs against other threats, such as KOing Mega Altaria with Play Rough, and the ability to KO Gengar with Shadow Sneak after Stealth Rock Damage. Mention how Ghostium Z has the benefit of giving Mimi a decently strong nuke that hits the Steel-types in the tier for substantial damage, which it otherwise struggles to dent.

Usage Tips
========
* Mimikyu is best used mid-late game once entry hazards have been set and Pokemon have been worn down enough in order for Mimikyu to claim some KOs. It is a great revenge killer so you should mention how Mimi should come in to perform this role. Imo this should be the first thing mentioned over it being able to clean and claim KOs
* Disguise is one of Mimikyu's biggest selling points, so in most cases, Mimikyu should not be brought directly into attacks, thus meaning that it is better to bring it in once a teammate has been KO'd, with Volt Switch or U-Turn or on a predicted Double Switch.
You need to talk about its role as a revenge killer because that is what you will primarily use it for, other than the potential clean up option. So mention how it can revenge kill threats like DD Altaria, Sharpedo-Mega etc.
* The exception to this is if you're attempting to Spin Block with Mimikyu, as keeping up entry hazards may be more crucial to the result of the game than keeping Mimikyu's disguise.
* Once brought into the Battlefield You use the terminology battlefield a few times and it doesn't really apply to Pokemon imo. Consider rewording it or using a more applicable word, Mimikyu's job will be to Either Revenge Kill faster, weakened foes with Shadow Sneak, KO Slower, weakened foes with the appropriate STAB move or utilise its disguise to set up with Swords Dance for free. Move the revenge killing part up to the beginning and go into more detail about this, again because this is Mimi's main role. This sentence is also kinda clunky, split up the ability to get a free SD into a separate point and mention how this lets it KO or heavily dent stuff (Give examples)
* Mimikyu should be careful once it has been brought in though. While it's ability makes it immune to direct attacks, it can still be worn down very fast due to other factors such as recoil from Rocky Helmet, Sandstorm and Life Orb Recoil. One of the fastest ways to prevent Mimikyu from being an effective sweeper is if it is statused, as it's disguise is not immune to this. Poison will significantly hinder its usefulness on the battlefield as Burns will cripple its damage output by cutting its attack in half and paralysis cuts its speed in half, allowing it to take damage from Pokemon who would normally outspeed it. Imo this whole point doesn't seem necessary, stuff about status and LO recoil is kind of obvious as it is just something a player should know, which applies to almost every Pokemon. Sandstorm is also an odd bring up as it is only applicable to Hippo. If QC says otherwise then keep
* Mimikyu should also be careful of phasers such as Hippowdon and Suicune as once its disguise has been busted, Mimikyu loses its free setup opportunities. This sentence implies they can break its Disguise first then phase, but Mimi can 2HKO both at +2. Maybe specify if Mimi isn't already at +2 they can proceed to do so. Also, I don't think Suicune is the best example as phasing isn't its primary role, maybe mention other forms of phasers like Amoong instead.

*I would make a point about Mimikyu having to be careful not to lose its Disguise too early as it will struggle to fulfill its role as a revenge killer or potential sweeper because of it.

*Add another point about if it is running Ghostium Z it should look to set up a Swords Dance to break past bulkier walls like Alomomola, Amoonguss, and Tentacruel for example. This can proceed after the point about its ability lets it set up a free SD.

Team Options
========

* Mimikyu thrives best on hazard stacking teams as it's immune to rapid spin and entry hazards allow Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it normally would struggle to get without them. Offensive Spikes setters such as Frosslass, Klefki and Roserade Klefki isn't an offensive spike user and Roserade isn't a common enough one to mention as it runs Sleep Powder so I would remove it as an example. make for brilliant partners as they're able to set these hazards while still keeping momentum. Frosslass is especially noteworthy as it forms a Dual Spinblocking core with Mimikyu and can prevent opposing Pokemon from removing hazards with Defog thanks to Taunt.
* When discussing Hazard Stacking Hyper Offense archetypes, it is almost mandatory to discuss Sticky Web, as Sticky Web allows Mimikyu and its teammates to often use an Attack or Special Attack Boosting Nature rather than a Speed Boosting Nature, allowing Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it otherwise would struggle to do. This is written weirdly as you are talking about the archetype and Sticky Webs as the subject of this statement rather than Mimikyu or the partner. I'd just say "Araquanid is a great partner as it can set up Sticky Web for Mimikyu which is good because...". Also add examples of what Mimi can outspeed and remove under webs, examples that allow it to keep its Disguise intact are good options e.g. Gengar etc. Common options for sticky web users are Smeargle and Araquanid who both offer different benefits to Mimikyu. While Smeargle has a number of utility options such as Nuzzle, Spore and Rapid Spin, Araquanid is also able to break holes through team with its powerful Water Bubble boosted Liquidations. Yeah no... remove all mentions of Smeargle entirely, only Araquanid is a Webs user in the tier. You can also add Araq helps check Steel-types like Coba and breaks through them for Mimi.
* Even with the aid of hazards, Mimikyu can struggle to deal with bulkier archetypes such as Stall and Semi-Stall without multiple boosts and unless it opts to run Wood Hammer, it is indefinitely walled by Pokemon with the ability Unaware, therefore appreciates partners who have a strong matchup against these. Nasty Plot Infernape is an especially noteworthy example as it's able to break through common stall cores such as Blissey + Alomomola + Quagsire as well as heavily pressure Steel-types such as Scizor, Doublade and Mega Aggron thanks to its Dual Stab coverage. In return, Mimikyu can pressure offensive threats that Infernape dislikes such as Latias, Mega Altaria, and Terrakion Terrakion is an odd choice as it is a speed tie and a weakened Terrak will lose to Apes priority, maybe use another example instead like Slowbro (slashed offensive to fix the sentence if you choose this option). Other examples of solid wallbreakers for Mimikyu include Bisharp - who is also able to handle Steel-type attacks Bisharp loses to a majority of the Steel-types like Steelix, Aggron, and Coba so it is not switching into their Steel-type STABs ever, as they run the coverage to beat it and form a solid hazard removal prevention core as it gains a +2 Attack boost if its opponent uses defog on the field thanks to Defiant. Nasty Plot Celebi, Latias, Terrakion, Lucario and Cobalion.
Combine this with the sentence than list like 5 examples on their own and again too many partners, Cut it down to three in total and I would put more emphasis on Mons like Coba and Luc as good partners which pressure Steel-types and help check the Dark-types because Mimi doesn't resist this typing. This making Mimikyu a subpar check to hydra and shark etc. without its ability.

This a large point, so consider condensing it where possible.

* VoltTurn cores are also partners that are heavily worth considering, as they provide Mimikyu with easier options to come into the battlefield without having its disguise get busted and provide teams with more offensive pressure. Noteworthy examples are Scizor, Hydreigon, Mega Manectric, Azelf, Rotom-H and Gligar too many examples again and Azelf shouldn't be mentioned, as the only U-turn set is dual screens, which Mimi does not fit on. Just keep the former 3 imo.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

* Red Card can be nice to force out a potential threat while the disguise gets broken and potentially give Mimikyu more setup opportunities I myself have never seen this being used in practice, but if QC thinks it is worth a mention sure.
* Drain Punch can be nice for Steels, but weak non-stab move has very little damage output. I would just remove this. Drain Punch is basically useless outside of KOing Bisharp I guess, which at most breaks your Disguise regardless anyways.

*Maybe a point about its signature Z move can be made and what it allows it to break, but mention why it isn't favorable in comparison to ghost Z. Idk if this is worth mentioning, but an option so let QC decide this.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Mimikyu fails to even 2HKO bulky Steel-type pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix and is OHKO'd by their Steel-type Stabs respectively. Scizor OHKOs with priority Bullet Punch and Mimikyu can't OHKO Scizor without boosts and Doublade's high Physical defense stat means that it can beat Mimikyu one-on-one

**Physically defensive pokemon**: Mimikyu's damage output isn't too good without boosts.?? Idk what you are really referring to here. You mention a bunch of bulky Pokemon below like Suicune, which should just be mentioned here. This point needs elaborating and examples need to be added as it looks incomplete

**Status**: Mimikyu's disguise doesn't prevent it from being statused. Burns heavily cripple mimikyu as it cuts its already average attack stat in half. Toxic wears it down super fast. This seems kind of obvious about it being weak to burn or Toxic, I would remove this whole point unless QC thinks otherwise.

**Amoonguss**: Amoonguss isn't bothered by the majority of Mimikyu's attacks. Can put it to sleep and remove boosts with Clear Smog.
+2 252+ Atk Mimikyu Never-Ending Nightmare (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 176+ Def Amoonguss: 381-448 (88.1 - 103.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock. I really don't think amoong deserves its own slot with this calc, you could probs just merge it with the phasers section as a way to prevent mimi setting up

**Unaware Pokemon**: Mimikyu relies heavily on boosts so unless it's running Wood Hammer to combat Quagsire and Pyukumuku, both of these Pokemon I assume you didn't finish this sentence it kinda ends abruptly?

**Phasers**: Hippowdon thanks to its high natural bulk is able to comfortably take any of Mimikyu's attacks, chip away at it with Sandstorm and force it out of the battlefield with Whirlwind, forcing it to be brought in again with a potentially busted disguise. Suicune similarly contains high natural bulk and also has the ability to burn it with Scald, rendering it useless. As I said above idk why Suicune is mentioned here, it isn't commonly known as a phaser. I know it can use Roar but the move isn't slashed so this would go under phys def pokemon it struggles to break. I'd just bring up amoong here and maybe Tentacruel as another example instead with Clear Smog and Haze to prevent Mimi setting up easily.

*A point about faster offensive threats could be added. As it can be fairly easy to revenge kill Mimikyu. Examples being MegaShark, Coba etc. Ofc this implying it has lost its Disguise for the former.

AM Check

You mention stuff about Wood Hammer throughout, which should be removed if it is moved to oo. There are also terms like OHKO which should be KO and other grammar stuff, but I left this and just assumed that will be checked over later. Add whatever QC agrees to and gj on this.

I would delete the Pursuit section. With Disguise up you have no real reason to switch out of any Pursuit user except Scizor, but if you’re boosted you stay in and kill it with +2 Shadow Claw into Sneak.

I was bored so I had a look at this, take from it what you will cos I'm not QC

Overview is good.

- Maybe use a different example instead of Latias when talking about Play Rough cos it's also weak to the Ghost type moves on the set.
- It might be worth expanding a bit more on how weakened stuff has to be to actually be threatened by Shadow Sneak if it's not super effective. Also worth mentioning the kind of interaction Adaam talked about above where Sneak can get you over the line after using one of your other STABs.
- Wood Hammer seems to be classic top of OO material to me instead of needing to go into Moves. You lose too much from not having Sneak, and the teams this will mostly be fitting on don't really require it.

- I think the Mega Altaria calc might be a better justification for an Adamant nature than a Mega Blastoise one. It would also follow on to where you mention it a little later in the section. (252+ Atk Life Orb Mimikyu Play Rough vs. 64 HP / 0 Def Altaria-Mega: 304-359 (99 - 116.9%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO) - Jolly goes down to a 37.5% chance.

- Mention offensive SR users in team options too, Krookodile and Cobalion for sure, maybe some others if you want.
- VoltTurn is something most offensive pokemon appreciate in theory but I'm not really sure it's appropriate here. At the end of the day Mimikyu is a revenge killer and an offensive spinblocker, when I'm putting it on a team I won't really be looking to use VoltTurn to position it specifically, it'll probably be for the teammates that are actual breakers instead.

- While the faster pokemon section is definitely appropriate, Mimikyu isn't regular Sharpedo levels of frail. If they're not hitting it super effectively then some of them can require chip to kill it particularly if coming from the special side. For example Hydreigon sets without Steel coverage actually require a substantial amount of chip to finish it off, while Krookodile can't OHKO it after just Stealth Rock (more relevant for Ghostium sets). Just put a line in saying something like some faster threats may require Mimikyu to be weakened before they can revenge kill it or something.

[OVERVIEW]
* Mimikyu has a solid place in the UnderUsed tier as a brilliant revenge killer and a solid wallbreaker. (wallbreaker is kinda misleading, this think hits like a bitch. replace that word for like sweeper/cleaner or whatever).
* Its typing provides it with a lot of utility, as offensively, as it's STAB Moves hit the entire tier for a guaranteed neutral coverage.
* Its typing also has a lot of defensive benefits, as it isn't crippled by Pursuit and can threaten most Dark-types with a super-effective STAB Play Rough, such as Hydreigon and Krookodile. (I'd say it's crippled by Pursuit in the sense that it guarantees it's disguise is broken, so I'd replace that with "it's not forced out by Pursuit").
* Arguably Mimikyu's biggest selling point, however would be its brilliant ability in Disguise, which guarantees it a free turn without taking damage. Allowing it to check faster offensive threats such as Latias, Mega Altaria and Terrakion as well as provide it with an opportunity to break through bulkier teams thanks to Swords Dance. (Okkkk this point is fine but imo mega shark MUST be here as an example. HO vs HO matchups it's literally just mmq being held till the end for a shark answer).
* Fortunately, due to its great typing and ability, it is able to quite comfortably provide enough offensive pressure to prevent hazard removal from opposing teams, as it's able to quite comfortably check common Rapid Spin users such as Starmie and Mega Blastoise, which ultimately provides it with a solid place on Hazard Stacking offensive teams. (you just said "quite comfortably" twice smh... anyways change this to like a strictly spinblocking note and add tenta in. Idt anyone is really using mmq as a means of defensively answering stoise/mie, it's just about not allowing spin :O).
* Mimikyu's overall damage output can be rather underwhelming though, as it's low base Attack stat combined with the fact that it is most powerful STAB move only has a base power of 90 means that it has to rely on boosts from Swords Dance and Entry Hazards in order for it to be a decent threat to opposing teams and without the use of Wood Hammer, it is impossible for it to beat Quagsire and Pyukumuku thanks to their ability, Unaware ignoring its boosts.
* The omnipresence of Steel-types also hinders Mimikyu's ability to thrive in the tier, as even with multiple boosts, it can still fail to break through bulkier Steel-types such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix, while Offensive Steel-types such as Scizor and Cobalion are either able to take it out with a priority Bullet Punch, or outspeed it and can KO it with Iron Head.
- (Have a point about the mediocrity of it's speed tier as well imo).

* Swords Dance increases Mimikyu's attack stat by 2 stages, compensating for its otherwise average damage output.

* Shadow Sneak offers Mimikyu with priority, allowing it to revenge kill faster, weakened foes even when its disguise is busted such as Latias, a boosted Mega Altaria and Terrakion. (Idrk what "revenge kill faster" means, so reword this maybe. I'd also focus moreso on it's mediocre speed tier and needing sneak to clean teams w/ faster threats after a boost).

Set Details
========

On the other hand, a Jolly Nature is needed in order for Mimikyu to outpace Krookodile, Moltres and Rotom-H. Being outpaced by said threats can result in it losing its Disguise, potentially costing in it having lower damage output and less turns on the battlefield. (this is p nitpicky but do nidok > tres, if rocks are up being slower than tres doesn't rlly matter much when you're cleaning. and being slower than nidok is fuckin pathetic).
* Life Orb provides Mimikyu with a more consistent damage output, making it the preferred item. However Ghostium-Z is a nice option as a 1-turn nuke against Steel-type Pokemon that it otherwise struggles to break through such as KOing Cobalion and Bulky Scizor sets at +2 after Stealth Rock damage as well as being able to do the same to Amoonguss, who would otherwise be able to remove its boosts with Clear Smog and recover off any damage thanks to Regenerator. However, by forgoing the Life Orb, you miss out on a number of KOs against other threats, such as KOing Mega Altaria with Play Rough, and the ability to KO Gengar with Shadow Sneak after Stealth Rock Damage. (Ok this point is long as fuck maybe try to make it more compact, or make lo and ghostium z two separate points. Also replace "nuke against steel-type pokemon" for "neutral coverage nuke" or something, b/c it's not just steels you're hitting hard).

Usage Tips
========

* Most of Mimikyu's utilitity comes from it's ability disguise. Making it an excellent job at revenge killing foes, because of this, it is highly recommended to keep it's disguise intact by avoiding letting it take any hits.
* In earlier stages of the game, Mimikyu should primarily be used to revenge kill slower foes with Play Rough or Shadow Claw and revenge kill faster, weakened foes with Shadow Sneak. Mimikyu can also be used to prevent opposing pokemon from sweeping teams such as KOing a boosted Mega Altaria with Play Rough or KOing a boosted hit from Celebi, as it is guaranteed to live a hit thanks to its Disguise. (not sure if ik what "KOing a boosted hit" means).
* If Mimikyu is able to avoid situations where it's disguise has been broken. It can also potentially be used as a late-game sweeper, using its Disguise as a free opportunity to boost its Attack stat with Swords Dance, finding it easier to break through bulker targets such as Alomomola, and allowing it to KO faster foes from full with Shadow Sneak such as Latias and Celebi and Opposing Mimikyu as long as their disguise is busted. (Alo prolly isn't the best example since it can just toxic and protect spam and like beat you, especially if it knocks lo. Maybe replace it w/ hippo just b/c no protect, also mention "when everything's chipped a fair bit" or some shit, idk how to word it. That's probably the main thing that makes it a functional late-game wincon).
* It is worth noting, however that one of it's other main selling points is as an offensive Spin Blocker, which can mean risking breaking its disguise if you bring it in directly on any Rapid Spin users and they choose to attack instead, while Mimikyu is still able to function as a decent revenge killer without it, it can lose a lot of its utility, so users should be cautious when using Mimikyu as a Spin Blocker.
- (This could probably be fleshed out just a little more, mention not to be too risky or hasty with setting up. For example, if you're faced with some water type and you lowkey win if you SD and you have disguise, but scald ends up burning thru the disguise cause you risked it for no reason. Same thing with Knock Off knocking lo thru the disguise, or just toxic annoying tf out of it in unison w/ lo, etc).

Team Options
========

* Mimikyu thrives best on offensive hazard stacking teams as it's immune to Rapid Spin and entry hazards allow Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it normally would struggle to get without them. Frosslass is able to set spikes and form a Dual Spinblocking core with Mimikyu and can prevent opposing Pokemon from removing hazards with Defog thanks to Taunt, whereas Araquanid is able to set up Sticky Web and prevent Opposing Pokemon from setting hazards thanks to Magic Coat. Offensive Stealth Rock setters such as Cobalion, Krookodile, and Azelf can also be paired with Frosslass or Araquanid to form dual suicide lead cores. (Araquanid isn't generally ran as a suicide lead in this tier but the rest is fine, just remove araq from that one sentence).
* Checks to Steel-types are mandatory for teams with Mimikyu as it struggles to break through them and is KO'd by all their Steel-type attacks. Noteworthy examples are Swords Dance Cobalion, Nasty Plot Infernape, and Nasty Plot Lucario. While Cobalion is able to provide a useful role as an Offensive Stealth Rock setter, Nasty Plot Infernape and Lucario are also able to significanly improve the matchup agaisnt Stall as they're both able to OHKO Quagsire with Fightinium-Z after Stealth Rock Damage. All of these are able to improve the match-up against Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Sharpedo. (Sharpedo might not be the best example since it's not like any of these reliably switch into it, if anything they just give you one more means of revenging it when mmq is enough for the most part as long as you keep disguise which isn't too hard. I'd replace shark with Bisharp).
* Other Wallbreakers that commonly find themselves in Hyper Offense Archetypes tend to perform well with Mimikyu. Electrium-Z Latias pairs brilliantly with Mimikyu as it's able to take out Quagsire due to it ignoring Latias' Special Attack Drops, while it can 2HKO Pyukumuku with Thunder after Stealth Rock Damage and pressure Steel-types with Electrium-Z, Mega Sharpedo can act as a valuable late-game cleaner, while also being able to comfortably switch in on the Ghost-type attacks that Mimikyu dislikes. (Okkk this is super vague and looks kinda rushed. I think z draco lati is actually much better b/c if you're running elec z, blissey walls anyways so nobody's going pyuk. Draco z is just the best nuke, espec w/ hp fire it chips and bothers a lot of steels that mmq appreciate being chipped and bothered. Also maybe get rid of the "switching in" on ghosts thing, maybe just make it "forcing out" or "pressuring" or something b/c shark is frail as fuck. Shark also chips/murders steels with spikes up which helps mmq, also that goes for the vice versa, mmq chips steels for shark as well. Scizor is another thing you can mention b/c it's fuckin Scizor, SD Scizor is next to necessary on HOs).
- (Maybe mention Bisharp as an option too, Defiant + Mmq really makes removing safely fuckin impossible).

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

(I'd say it hurts it's cleaning capabilities much more, disguise is the main reason it's a great revenge killer. Shit like lati and maero can easily revenge a busted mmq w/o sneak).
* Red Card can be nice to force out a potential threat while the disguise gets broken and potentially give Mimikyu more setup opportunities (Mention that it also forces more chip w/ hazards).
* Drain Punch can be nice for Steels, but weak non-stab move has very little damage output. (Imo get rid of this, trash).
* Mimikium-Z can fucntion as a Z-Crystal, allowing it to have heavier damage output against netural targets for a single turn and has a chance to OHKO Alomomola after Stealth Rock Damage, however this gives it less consistent damage output and results in it struggling more against Steel-types.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Mimikyu fails to even 2HKO bulky Steel-type pokemon (this wording is weird, note that it's after a boost from SD) such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix and is OHKO'd by their Steel-type Stabs respectively. Scizor OHKOs with priority Bullet Punch and Mimikyu can't OHKO Scizor without boosts and Doublade's high Physical defense stat means that it can beat Mimikyu one-on-one.

**Unaware Pokemon**: Mimikyu relies heavily on boosts so unless it's running Wood Hammer to combat Quagsire and Pyukumuku, it's not going to have a good time as unaware makes these Pokemon Completely oblivious to Mimikyu's boosts. Quagsire can potentially render Mimikyu as useless if it's able to burn it with Scald or wear it down with Toxic and Pyukumuku can drain its PP with Spite.

**Physically defensive pokemon**: Physicaly Defensive Pokemon such as Alomomola, Amoonguss and Rhyperior (replace rhyp pls, it actually takes a fair chunk from +2 pruff and doesn't have reliable recovery/is easy to chip, do hippo or something) are able to comfortably take boosted attacks from Mimikyu and annoy it back by either burning it with Scald, removing its Stat Boosts with Clear Smog, or KOing it with Earthquake or Stone Edge.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon can be quite problematic to Mimikyu if its disguise has been busted as they're able to take advantage of Mimikyu's weaker defenses and KO it before it's able to sweep. While it can take care of some of these such as Latios (huh) and Gengar thanks to Shadow Sneak. Fast Dark-types such as Krookodile, Mega Sharpedo and Hydreigon can be problematic as they take minimal damage from Shadow Sneak and have their own attacks that they can KO Mimikyu with in return. (Mention that b/c of mmq's subpar atk stat, you might need quite a lot of chip or two boosts to deal with some faster threats, maero being the biggest example).

[OVERVIEW]
* Mimikyu has a solid place in the UnderUsed tier as a brilliant revenge killer and a solid cleaner.
* Its typing provides it with a lot of utility, as offensively, it's STAB Moves hit the entire tier for a guaranteed neutral coverage.
* Its typing also has a lot of defensive benefits, as it isn't forced out by Pursuit and can threaten most Dark-types with a super-effective STAB Play Rough, such as Hydreigon and Krookodile.
* Arguably Mimikyu's biggest selling point would be its brilliant ability in Disguise, which guarantees it a free turn without taking damage. Allowing it to check faster offensive threats such as Latias, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion, as well as provide it with an opportunity to break through bulkier teams thanks to Swords Dance. - it checks the faster offensive threats but aldo revenge kills them for offense so mention that specifially.
* Fortunately, due to its great typing and ability, it is able to provide enough offensive pressure to prevent hazard removal from opposing teams, as it's able to quite comfortably check common Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel, which ultimately provides it with a solid place on Hazard Stacking offensive teams.
- mention it's weak even with lo and some non unaware mons it struggles to break like aggron/amoon.
* Its speed tier also means that it has to rely on its disguise or a weaker move in Shadow Sneak in order to revenge kill foes.
- add something about while it hes defensive benefits like you said, you can't really switch mimikyu into stuff it "checks" so you don't lose your disguise unless absolutely necessary.

Moves
========

* Swords Dance increases Mimikyu's attack stat by 2 stages, compensating for its otherwise average damage output. - what pokemon can sd help it deal with?
* Play Rough is most powerful Fairy STAB in Mimikyu's Movepool, hitting targets such as Mega Altaria, Krookodile and Hydreigon for Super Effective damage.
* Shadow Claw is most powerful Ghost STAB attack. When paired with Play Rough, this provides Mimikyu with near-perfect coverage. Hitting every viable Pokemon in the tier for super-effective or neutral damage.
* Shadow Sneak offers Mimikyu with priority, allowing it to compensate for its rather average speed tier and Revenge kill faster threats such as Latias, Terrakion and Mega Sharpedo. - mention weakened offensive threats here because none of them die to it from full at +0

Set Details
========

On the other hand, a Jolly Nature is needed in order for Mimikyu to outpace Krookodile, Nidoking and Rotom-H. Being outpaced by said threats can result in it losing its Disguise, potentially costing in it having lower damage output and less turns on the battlefield. - lower damage output is kinda misleading here because adamant gives you more. just talk about fewer turns more and how that means it can struggle to clean effectively
* Life Orb provides Mimikyu with a more consistent damage output, making it the preferred item. However Ghostium-Z is a nice option as a 1-turn nuke against Pokemon that it otherwise struggles to break through such as KOing ohkoing? Making it an excellent job at revenge killing foes, because of this, it is highly recommended to keep it's disguise intact by avoiding letting it take any hits. - make it especially clear here that this is optimal if theres an offensive threat it can revenge kill on the opposing side like latias. this is mostly useful vs more offensive teams too.
- as a result of ^ you want to bring it in on free turns when a teammate fainted primarily

- i'd rephrase this point to say "however mimikyu can be brought in vs x and y to spinblock but it can risk breaking its disguse because" so you're starting with the usage tip part.

Alright did this. A bunch of these seem to have been errors that viv picked up like the Latios typo and the Drain Punch OO that I swear I implemented but they definitely didn't seem to make it to the OP. I've tried to make it more grammatically correct too, so we should be good for 3/3.

Wood Hammer can be used over Shadow Sneak to have an improved matchup against Stall as it's able to break through the classic Blissey + Alomomola + Quagsire core and also 2HKOes Pyukumuku. However it ends up taking a huge amount of recoil damage from this, often KOing itself in the process before being able to make a major dent in the team. While this provides Mimikyu with an improved matchup against Stall, this results in a significantly worse Offense Matchup due to the loss of Shadow Sneak.
If we take into account the current metagame, Wood Hammer should replace Shadow Claw and not Shadow Sneak. Shadow Claw doesn't bring a lot of utility compared to Shadow Sneak which allows Mimikyu not to be Revenge Killed by faster threats. Overall, Wood Hammer is almost always better than Shadow Claw on neutral target. There isn't a lot of Pokemon which takes more with Shadow Claw (mostly Doublade iirc) while Wood Hammer hit harder things like Empoleon, Tentacruel, (Mega-)Slowbro etc... Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe that Shadow Sneak isn't the move to replace by Wood Hammer.

Wood Hammer should be used over Shadow Claw instead of Shadow Sneak forsure, so Stoward please update that. However, overall, Wood Hammer is definitely not a better option than Shadow Claw. Scizor is dominant and absolutely everywhere in the current meta and not being able to threaten it whatsoever is really bad. Apart from this, not being able to hit other Steel-types also hurts Mimikyu, and you’re also useless against Amoonguss and Rotom-H; not to mention Wood Hammer makes it so that you die much much quicker. The examples you listed are (imo) not the best since you beat those at +2 anyway unless they burn you with Scald, so I would mention Wood Hammer being able to punish common switch-ins like defensive Primarina and bulky Ground-types like Hippowdon and Rhyperior (apart from the obvious Quag/Alo core).

Will check the rest of this later today if I come back from work at a reasonable time.

[OVERVIEW]

Mimikyu has a solid place in the UnderUsed tier as a brilliant revenge killer and a solid cleaner. (specify that it's used on offensive teams) Its typing provides it with a lot of utility as its STAB Moves hit the entire tier for a guaranteed neutral coverage. Its typing also means that it is one of the few ghost-types that isn't forced out by Pursuit and it can threaten most Dark-types such as Hydreigon and Krookodile with a super effective STAB Play Rough. Arguably Mimikyu's biggest selling point would be its brilliant ability in Disguise, which guarantees it a free turn without taking damage. As a result of its great typing and ability, it is able to provide enough offensive pressure to prevent hazard removal from opposing teams, as it's able to quite comfortably check common Rapid Spin users such as Tentacruel, which ultimately provides it with a solid place on Hazard Stacking offensive teams. (I get what you're trying to say here but this was phrased really poorly. Mimikyu risks Scald burns when trying to prevent spins from Tenta/Starmie can OHKO if it breaks Disguise, and it doesn't really "stop" Defog. I would rephrase this to say it's a valuable spinblocker bc of ...) However, Mimikyu's initial damage output can be rather underwhelming, as it's low base Attack stat combined with the low base power of its attacks means that even with Life Orb, it has to sometimes rely on multiple boosts from Swords Dance and multiple Entry Hazards in order for it to be a decent threat to physically bulkier threats such as Amoonguss, and without the use of Wood Hammer, it is impossible for it to beat Quagsire and Pyukumuku due to their ability, Unaware ignoring its boosts. (This is wayyy too long for an overview. Just says that without a Swords Dance Mimikyu struggles to break through physically defensive Pokemon like x and y and it is walled by Quag and Pyuk on stall unless running WH. If you want to give reasoning, do it later when explaining the move) The omnipresence of Steel-types also hinders Mimikyu's ability to thrive in the tier, as even with multiple boosts, it can still fail to break through bulkier Steel-types such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix, while Offensive Steel-types such as Scizor and Cobalion are either able to take it out with a priority Bullet Punch, or outspeed it and KO it with Iron Head. (Again, I would personally just say "beat it with their Steel-type attacks". Keep it as simple as you can for the overview) Furthermore, while its ability Disguise provides it with the ability to check a large number of Pokemon, Mimikyu is unable to switch into any of these checks as once it loses its Disguise, it loses most of its utility. It's average Speed stat also means that it has to rely heavily on Disguise, or a weaker move in Shadow Sneak in order to revenge kill foes. (I would add Hydreigon as an example on the Disguise part since Mimikyu REALLY wants to outspeed/kill Hydreigon but once its Disguise is busted it can't do that reliably as a Fairy-type due to its Speed)

* (Remove this asterisk) Swords Dance increases Mimikyu's attack stat by 2 stages, compensating for its otherwise average damage output and providing it with more opportunities to OHKO Faster threats such as Latias, Celebi, and Gengar with Shadow Sneak. (Nitpicky but I wouldn't say it's "more" opportunities to OHKO them bc chances are you're realistically not getting a free SD off in 95% of scenarios, just say "better chances"; also add how it actually lets Mimikyu threaten physically defensive walls like Amoonguss) Play Rough is most powerful Fairy STAB in Mimikyu's Movepool, hitting targets such as Mega Altaria, Krookodile, and Hydreigon for super effective damage. (Everyone knows Fairy is super effective against Dragon/Dark, rephrase to say it lets Mimikyu beat them) Shadow Claw is most powerful Ghost STAB attack. When paired with Play Rough, this provides Mimikyu with near-perfect coverage. Hitting every viable Pokemon in the tier for super effective or neutral damage. (Combine last two sentences into one and just leave as "perfect neutral coverage") Shadow Sneak offers Mimikyu with priority, allowing it to compensate for its rather average speed tier and revenge kill faster, weakened threats such as Latias, Terrakion, and Mega Sharpedo. (Mega Sharpedo? Sneak is doing 20% max to it and this seems like an example better suited for something Disguise lets it do. Add something like Mega Aero instead)

Most of Mimikyu's utility comes from it's ability disguise, so it is optimal to avoid Mimikyu from taking any hits, especially if there are offensive threats on the opposing side of that Mimikyu can take out such as Latias. This is also applicable when trying to use Mimikyu as a Spin Blocker against Tentacruel or Starmie, because if they opt to attack instead of Rapid Spin, this results in Mimikyu's disguise being busted. In earlier stages of the game, Mimikyu should primarily be used to revenge kill slower foes with Play Rough or Shadow Claw and revenge kill faster, weakened foes with Shadow Sneak. (Only these two options? I use my Mimikyu quite early to threaten to revenge kill faster offensive threats like Latias with Play Rough or just force things out, which you don't state here) can also be used to prevent opposing Pokemon from sweeping teams such as KOing a boosted Mega Altaria with Play Rough or KOing a boosted Celebi, as it is guaranteed to live a hit thanks to its Disguise. If Mimikyu is able to avoid situations where it's disguise has been broken. (Again combine with previous sentence) It can also potentially be used as a late-game cleaner, using its Disguise as a free opportunity to boost its Attack stat with Swords Dance, finding it easier to break through bulker targets such as Hippowdon, and allowing it to KO faster foes from full with Shadow Claw such as Latias, Celebi, and Opposing Mimikyu as long as their disguise is busted.

Team Options
========

Mimikyu thrives best on offensive hazard stacking teams as it's immune to Rapid Spin and entry hazards allow Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it normally would struggle to get without them. Offensive Stealth Rock setters such as Cobalion, Krookodile, and Azelf can also be paired with Frosslass or Araquanid to form dual hazard stacking cores. (Replace Azelf with Mamo) Checks to Steel-types are mandatory for teams with Mimikyu as it struggles to break through them and is KO'd by all their Steel-type attacks. Other Wallbreakers that commonly find themselves in Hyper Offense Archetypes tend to perform well with Mimikyu. Dragonium-Z Latias pairs brilliantly with Mimikyu as it's able to take out Quagsire due to it ignoring Latias' Special Attack Drops, while it can pressure Blissey with Psyshock and pressure Steel-types with Hidden Power Fire. Mega Sharpedo can act as a valuable late-game cleaner, while also being able to comfortably pressure Ghost-types that Mimikyu dislikes such as Gengar and Chandelure.

This is written entirely like Mimikyu should only be used on HO, and that's not the case. Mimikyu can be used on other offensive builds as well. I'd encourage you to look at some Snake replays (Christo's, Lycans vs me, etc) and see what other archetypes Mimikyu was used on besides HO and include some comments on that as well.

Other Options
=============

Wood Hammer can be used over Shadow Claw to have an improved matchup against Stall as it's able to break through the classic Blissey + Alomomola + Quagsire core and also 2HKOes Pyukumuku. However it ends up taking a huge amount of recoil damage from this, often KOing itself in the process before being able to make a major dent in the team and the loss of Shadow Claw means that it's completely unable to break through Steel-types and other bulky Fairy-type resists such as Amoonguss and Rotom-H. Red Card can be nice to force out a potential threat while the disguise gets broken and potentially give Mimikyu more setup opportunities, however this results lack of Damage Output from Life Orb or a single turn nuke from a Z-Move. (This is a thing? Remove) Mimikium-Z can fucntion as a Z-Crystal, allowing it to have heavier damage output against neutral targets for a single turn and has a chance to OHKO Alomomola after Stealth Rock Damage, however this gives it less consistent damage output and results in it struggling more against Steel-types and worse coverage for a Z-move overall. (This is a thing? Remove)

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Mimikyu fails to even 2HKO bulky Steel-type Pokemon such as Mega Aggron and Mega Steelix and is OHKOed by their Steel-type Stabs respectively. Scizor OHKOes with priority Bullet Punch and Mimikyu can't OHKO Scizor without boosts and Doublade's high Physical defense stat means that it can beat Mimikyu one-on-one. (Add Cobalion)

**Physically defensive Pokemon**: Physicaly Defensive Pokemon such as Alomomola, Amoonguss, and Rhyperior are able to comfortably take boosted attacks from Mimikyu and annoy it back by either burning it with Scald, removing its Stat Boosts with Clear Smog, or KOing it with Earthquake or Stone Edge. (Add Hippowdon)

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon can be quite problematic to Mimikyu if its disguise has been busted as they're able to take advantage of Mimikyu's weaker defenses and KO it before it's able to sweep. While it can take care of some of these such as Latias and Gengar thanks to Shadow Sneak. Fast Dark-types such as Krookodile, Mega Sharpedo, and Hydreigon can be problematic as they take minimal damage from Shadow Sneak and have their own attacks that they can KO Mimikyu with in return. (Clean this section up. For example, Krook is not beating Mimikyu even if it outspeeds and has no Disguise 1v1 from full, neither is Hydrei, neither is Latias)

[OVERVIEW]

Mimikyu has a solid place in UU brilliant revenge killer and a solid cleaner on offensive teams. Its typing provides it with a lot of utility as its STAB Moves hit the entire tier for a guaranteed neutral coverage. This allows it it to check and revenge kill faster offensive threats such as Latias, Mega Sharpedo, and Terrakion, as well as provide it with an opportunity to break through bulkier teams thanks to Swords Dance. Mimikyu can also act as a valuable spinblocker as it is able to apply decent offensive pressure against Starmie and Tentacruel. However, Mimikyu's initial damage output can be rather underwhelming, as it struggles to be a decent threat to physically bulkier threats such as Amoonguss, and without the use of Wood Hammer, it is impossible for it to beat Quagsire and Pyukumuku. The omnipresence of Steel-types also hinders Mimikyu's ability to thrive in the tier, as even with multiple boosts, it can still fail to 2HKO bulkier Steel-types, while all of them can KO Mimikyu in return with their Steel-type attacks. (I didn’t want you to completely remove the examples, just to not be extremely specific. Change this to something like “even after a boost it fails to break through bulky Steel-types like Mega Aggron while offensive Steel-types like Cobalion can outspeed and OHKO it after Disguise has been busted”) Furthermore, while its ability Disguise provides it with the ability to check a large number of Pokemon, Mimikyu is unable to switch into any of these checks as once it loses its Disguise, it loses most of its utility. It's average Speed stat also means that it has to rely heavily on Disguise to check faster offensive threats such as Hydreigon, or a weaker move in Shadow Sneak in order to revenge kill foes.

Swords Dance increases Mimikyu's attack stat by 2 stages, compensating for its otherwise average damage output and providing it with better chances to OHKO Faster threats such as Latias, Celebi, and Gengar with Shadow Sneak. Play Rough is most powerful Fairy STAB in Mimikyu's Movepool, allowing it to beat targets such as Mega Altaria, Krookodile, and Hydreigon. Shadow Claw is most powerful Ghost STAB attack and provides it with perfect neutral coverage. Shadow Sneak offers Mimikyu with priority, allowing it to compensate for its rather average speed tier and revenge kill faster, weakened threats such as Latias, Terrakion, and Mega Aerodactyl.

A simple offensive EV Spread is used for Mimikyu with 252 EVs in Attack and Speed, allowing Mimikyu to hit as hard as possible as fast as possible. Both Adamant and Jolly Natures are plausible options for Mimikyu. An Adamant Nature helps boost Mimikyu's damage output and claims a number of KOs that a Jolly Nature misses out on, such as OHKOing Krookodile with an unboosted Play Rough after Stealth Rock Damage and OHKOing Choice Band Scizor with a +2 Shadow Claw after Stealth Rock Damage and 1 Spike. On the other hand, a Jolly Nature is needed in order for Mimikyu to outpace Krookodile, Nidoking and Rotom-H. (Specify non Choice Scarf Krook) Being outpaced by said threats can result in it losing its Disguise, potentially costing it with less opportunities to set up and less turns on the battlefield. Life Orb provides Mimikyu with a more consistent damage output, making it the preferred item. However Ghostium-Z is a nice option as a 1-turn nuke against Pokemon that it otherwise struggles to break through such as OHKOing Cobalion, Bulky Scizor sets at +2 after Stealth Rock damage as well as being able to do the same to Amoonguss when running an Adamant Nature. However, by forgoing the Life Orb, you miss out on a number of KOs against other threats, such as KOing (Offensive) Mega Altaria with Play Rough, an a chance to KO Gengar with Shadow Sneak after Stealth Rock Damage.

(You didn’t really specify what I said before about Mimikyu being able to come in and force out offensive threats here. I do this quite often when using Mimikyu. For example, your typical Lass Shark Mimi spikes will struggle switching into opposing Latias early game esp w/o knowing the set, but you can bring Mimikyu in to force it out, especially when Disguise is still intact) Mimikyu can also be used to prevent opposing Pokemon from sweeping teams such as KOing a boosted Mega Altaria with Play Rough or KOing a boosted Celebi, as it is guaranteed to live a hit thanks to its Disguise. However, by forgoing Life Orb, Mimikyu misses out on a number of KOs against other threats, such as KOing offensive Mega Altaria with Play Rough and a chance to KO potentially taking out Gengar with Shadow Sneak after Stealth Rock.

Usage Tips
========

Most of Mimikyu's utility comes from its ability Disguise, so it is optimal to avoid letting Mimikyu take any hits, especially if there are offensive threats that Mimikyu can take out such as Latias. This is also applicable when trying to use Mimikyu as a spinblocker against Tentacruel or Starmie, (AC) because if they opt to attack instead of attempting to use Rapid Spin, Mimikyu's Disguise would will be busted. In earlier stages of the game, Mimikyu should be used to revenge kill slower foes with Play Rough or Shadow Claw and revenge kill faster, weakened foes with Shadow Sneak, or but it can also be used to switch in on Pokemon that it can comfortably check such as Latias and force them out by threatening to KO them with one of its attacks. Mimikyu can also be used to prevent opposing Pokemon from sweeping teams such as by KOing a boosted Mega Altaria with Play Rough or KOing a boosted Celebi, as it is guaranteed to live survive a hit thanks to its Disguise. If Mimikyu is able to avoid situations where its Disguise has been broken, it can also potentially be used as a late-game cleaner, using its Disguise as a free opportunity to boost its Attack stat with Swords Dance, finding allowing it easier to break through bulker targets such as Hippowdon more easily and allowing it to KO faster foes from full with Shadow Claw such as Latias, Celebi, and opposing Mimikyu as long as their own Disguise is busted.

Team Options
========

Mimikyu is a staple Pokemon on hazard stacking teams, as it's immune to Rapid Spin, and entry hazards allow Mimikyu to claim a number of KOs that it normally would struggle to get without them, leading to it often being paired with hazard setters such as Frosslass Froslass and Araquanid or offensive Stealth Rock setters such as Cobalion, Mamoswine, and Terrakion. Noteworthy examples of these checks (are Cobalion, Infernape, and Lucario. Cobalion is also able to provide a useful role as an offensive Stealth Rock setter, while Infernape and Lucario significantly improve the team's matchup against stall, as they're both able to OHKO Quagsire with All-Out Pummeling after Stealth Rock, while Life Orb sets can or comfortably 2HKO Quagsire it with Life Orb-boosted Focus Blast.

Other Options
=============

Wood Hammer can be used over Shadow Claw to have an improved matchup against stall, as it's able to break through the classic Blissey + Alomomola + Quagsire core and also 2HKOes Pyukumuku. However, it Mimikyu ends up taking a huge amount of recoil damage from this, often KOing itself in the process before being able to make a major dent in the team, and the loss of Shadow Claw means that it's completely unable to break through Steel-types and other bulky Fairy-resistant Pokemon such as Amoonguss and Rotom-H. Red Card can be a nice item to utilize Mimikyu's Disguise by forcing in a random Pokemon when it has been busted, (comma) This can either be used as either for a free setup turn or to force out an opposing setup sweeper. (weird wording / reference inconsistency thingy)

Checks and Counters
===================

Hippowdon can also be problematic, as it has enough natural bulk to live take any attack from Mimikyu at +4, can phaze it with Whirlwind, and can recover damage off with Slack Off.

**Faster Pokemon**: Faster Pokemon such as Mega Aerodactyl can be quite problematic to Mimikyu if its Disguise has been busted, as they're able to take advantage of Mimikyu's low defenses and KO it before it's able to sweep.
