LC Minccino

[OVERVIEW]
Minccino is a potent threat capable of breaking through weakened foes. Due to the way LC damage rolls work, the combination of Tail Slap and Skill Link allows it to do a lot of damage. An excellent Speed tier of 18 also allows it to outspeed Mienfoo, Vullaby, and Onix. However, it is outsped by Abra and Ponyta and only Speed ties with Gastly. Its Normal typing is unremarkable other than its weakness to the common Fighting-types that dominate LC. Furthermore, its poor defensive stats allow it to be OHKOed by a wide variety of foes, such as Abra and Mienfoo. Lastly, while it has a good range of coverage options, such as Knock Off and Seed Bomb, its low Attack stat means that other than Tail Slap, its moves are relatively weak.

name: Life Orb
move 1: Tail Slap
move 2: Knock Off
move 3: Seed Bomb / U-turn

item: Life Orb
ability: Skill Link
nature: Jolly
evs: 196 Atk / 36 Def / 36 SpD / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Tail Slap is a powerful STAB move that does significant damage to anything that does not resist it due to LC damage mechanics. For example, it 2HKOes Spritzee, Foongus, and Vullaby. Knock Off allows Minccino to hit Ghost-types and remove the foe's item to help itself or a teammate. Seed Bomb can be run to hit Rock-types such as Onix and Tirtouga. U-turn can give Minccino a way out of unfavorable matchups or as a way of gaining offensive momentum. Wake-Up Slap gives Minccino a way to hit Steel-types, such as Pawniard and Ferroseed, super effectively.

Set Details
========

Minccino's Speed is maximized to allow it to outspeed Mienfoo and Onix while Speed tying with Gastly and Doduo. Life Orb is used as its item to massively increase the damage output of Tail Slap. The remaining EVs are invested in Defense and Special Defense to boost both its defenses by as much as possible, which slightly increases its longevity. Skill Link is used to force Tail Slap to always hit five times, giving it more consistent damage output than Technician would.

Usage Tips
========

Minccino generally works best as an early-game breaker, dealing heavy damage to defensive foes to allow a partner to clean. Due to its poor defensive stats, Minccino should not be switched directly into an attack; instead, use a pivoting move such as Mienfoo's U-turn or Magnemite's Volt Switch to bring it in. Minccino can also be used to force out Weak Armor Vullaby, Eviolite Snivy, and Onix with any chip damage.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard setters such as Ferroseed work very well with Minccino, since a layer of Spikes and Stealth Rock can provide enough chip damage on defensive foes for Minccino to OHKO them. Mienfoo, Vullaby, and Magnemite all work well with Minccino by using Volt Switch and U-turn to get it in without taking damage. Diglett, Magnemite, and Trapinch all help Minccino to clean by trapping common Steel-types such as Pawniard, Ferroseed, and Magnemite, while Minccino can weaken defensive Pokemon down to a point where they can be trapped. Fighting-type checks such as Spritzee and Foongus give Minccino a way out of a Fighting-type matchup. Switch-ins to Steel- and Rock-types such as Mienfoo are helpful, since Minccino struggles to OHKO most of them and many of them will KO in return. Minccino pairs well with Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr, since it can do heavy damage to their checks such as Spritzee and Foongus, allowing them to clean.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Choice Scarf set can be run to outspeed most of the metagame. However, this will reduce Minccino's Tail Slap damage significantly and prevent it from using its coverage moves, making it easier to check. King's Rock can be used to give Tail Slap a good chance of causing a flinch, but this reduces the power of Tail Slap. Aqua Tail can be used to hit Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-types, punishing potential switch-ins. However, Seed Bomb is more useful in general, as it hits Tirtouga very hard. Protect can be run to prevent chip damage from Fake Out and to scout Choice Scarf users. Substitute can be used to get around Foongus's Spore and Pawniard's Sucker Punch. Gunk Shot can be run to OHKO offensive Berry Juice Spritzee.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ferroseed**: Ferroseed is able to switch into a Tail Slap and deal over half damage with Iron Barbs. It can then cripple Minccino with Thunder Wave or deal damage with Bullet Seed. It should be wary of Wake-Up Slap, however.

**Mudbray**: Mudbray's Stamina ability allows it to take a Tail Slap and reach +5 Defense, after which it can KO Minccino in return. However, it should be wary of switching into a Seed Bomb.

**Flame Body Users**: Flame Body users, such as Ponyta and Larvesta, can switch into a Tail Slap and have an 85% chance to burn Minccino. Ponyta can then outspeed Minccino and OHKO it with Flare Blitz.

**Priority Users**: Timburr's Mach Punch, Pawniard's Sucker Punch, and Croagunk's Vacuum Wave all do heavy damage to Minccino. However, Timburr and Croagunk should avoid switching into a Tail Slap, and Pawniard should be wary of Wake-Up Slap.

**Faster Foes**: Threats such as Abra and Ponyta can outspeed Minccino and KO it. Ponyta can also switch into Minccino and then outspeed it.

**Choice Scarf Users**: Common Choice Scarf users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard can outspeed Minccino and KO it.

**Diglett**: Diglett can trap and outspeed Minccino and KO it with Life Orb-boosted Earthquake or Tectonic Rage.

You should mention at least once (maybe in the overview) that Tail Slap + Skill Link is so strong because of how rolls work at level 5.

Moves:
Slash Wake-Up Slap after U-turn, and make Seed Bomb the primary slash. U-turn isn't mandatory when you can 2HKO almost any switchin.
Reorder both moves and their descriptions as so: Tail Slap, Knock Off, Seed Bomb/U-turn, U-turn/Wake-Up Slap.
Protect probably warrants a move mention but not a slash.

Team Options:
Mention switchins to Steel- and Rock-types, as Minccino's coverage moves don't usually OHKO them and they can often OHKO in return.

Other Options:
Substitute gets around Foongus's Spore and Pawniard's Sucker Punch.
Gunk Shot OHKOes offensive BJ Spritzee but doesn't really do anything else.

Very well done, 1/3

[OVERVIEW]

Alter the speed bit to clarify that while Minccino's speed tier is good because it outspeeds the listed mons, it's also awkward for leaving it outsped by Abra and Wingull along with only tying Gastly
Knock Off bit feels a little out of place here for being too specific, generalize it to good coverage options.

[SET]

looks fine to me

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves:

reiterate that Tail Slap does massive damage because of LC rolls, give examples of what it hits and for how much (2HKOs on very bulky thing, OHKOs, ect)
reorder so that Seed Bomb is after Knock Off to fit the slash order, make the mention just "rock" types, switch Omanyte to tirtouga

Set Details:

The 196 Atk EVs=damage bit is too basic and therefore unnecessary (read this thread), so instead turn this into a sentence about how Life Orb provides a massive boost to Tail Slap's damage output.
For Skill Link, state that Technician is inferior for consistent Tail Slap damage because again it's a little basic

Usage Tips:

Have a sentence in there about how since Minccino can do so much damage, getting it in early to break through or weaken the opponent's bulkier pokemon is preferable. I disagree with the late game cleaner bit, personal experience is that Minc works much better as an early or midgame support breaker for a different cleaner and shouldn't try to be preserved for late cleaning (the tail slap acc hurts for that too, as an aside).
I'd like something more specific, like the kind of Pokemon Minccino can threaten out or come in relatively safely on. There's a lot of generalizations and few specifics.

Team Options:

Boring but fine.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options:

For scarf, mention how it also leaves Minc easily checked due to being unable to use its good coverage options
Aqua Tail: you need to say why not - explain how Seed Bomb hits Tirtouga much harder
Thunder Wave is absolutely terrible for minc, would recommend removing it

Checks and Counters:

Add in a mention of Mudbray, since it does punish Tail Slap very well.
For any/all of the last three, elaborate that because of Minccino's low bulk they can threaten to KO

Implement this and write me up scotty

[OVERVIEW]
Minccino's combination of Skill Link and Tail Slap make it a potent threat capable of breaking through weakened foes. Each Tail Slap hits very hard because of how LC rolls work, which does a lot of damage when paired with Skill Link. It has an excellent Speed tier of 18, allowing it to outspeed Mienfoo, Vullaby and Onix. However, it is outsped by Wingull and Abra and only ties with Gastly. Its Normal-typing is unremarkable other than its weakness to the common Fighting-types that dominate Little Cup. It has poor defensive stats, which allows it to be OHKOed by a wide variety of opponents. It has a low Attack stat which means that other than Tail Slap, its other moves are relatively weak. It does have access to good coverage options such as Knock Off and Seed Bomb.
i think you can clean the bolded sentences up a bit, they say the same thing twice. combining them into one would probably help. you can probably combine the underlined sentences as well.

in general, this section is jarring to read because basically every sentence has the same flow and roughly the same length: "It has ____ which means _______." try something like this: "While it has good coverage options, such as Knock Off and Seed Bomb, Minccino's low Attack stat means that moves other than Tail Slap are relatively weak." i used the exact same descriptions that you picked, but changing the flow of how you write it makes it a lot nicer to read. i haven't read the rest of the analysis yet, but mixing up sentence flow and length is something you can implement throughout your writing to make it more appealing.

you can combine or rearrange a good amount of the information here, especially the bolded bit. maybe also mention what you'd use protect over, or mention why it's not actually on the set (why are the other options better?)

i also think aqua tail should be mentioned as an alternative to seed bomb, as it ohkoes WA onix, and seed bomb only has a 1/16 chance to do so. also hits archen and ponyta. either add it here, or expand upon it in OO (and move protect to OO as well).

Set Details

Minccino's Speed is maximised to allow it to outspeed Mienfoo and Onix while tying with Gastly and Doduo. It has a Life Orb to massively increase the damage output of Tail Slap. The remaining EVs are invested in Defence and Special Defence to slightly increase its longevity. fine, though "it has a life orb" is a bit awkward. we also use defense with an s on analyses

Usage Tips
========

Minccino generally works best as a early game breaker, dealing heavy damage to defensive foes to allow a partner to clean. Due to its poor defensive stats, Minccino should not be switched in directly. Bring it in on a pivot move such as Mienfoo's U-Turn or Magnemite's Volt Switch. Additionally, hazards should be kept off the field if possible because these will wear Minccino down and limit its ability to switch in. Minccino pairs well with Fighting-types such as Mienfoo and Timburr, since it can do heavy damage to checks such as Spritzee and Foongus, allowing them to clean.
"Minccino should not be switched in directly on an attack" or something similar. also, you can combine that sentence and the following one with a semicolon. "Minccino should not be switched in directly; bring it ..." also the phrasing of the "bring it in on" sentence makes it seem like you are telling them to switch it into a mienfoo u-turn or mag volt.

talk about the usage of u-turn? about when to use coverage, especially as stuff like weak armor onix is mad popular? i think the hazards mention here is pretty meh because hazards won't really bother minccino that much considering how frail it is and b/c it's neutral to hazards but if other people want it then fine.

also, i agree with what merr said. give us some more specific stuff, like what does minc force out? you said it gets some 2hkos on fat stuff but you can talk about how it forces out every vullaby, as it outspeeds nonscarf and threatens to ohko every variant, even fat evio after SR. other examples: evio snivy, chipped onix; whatever is slower and is threatened to be OHKOed by minc.

Team Options
========

Hazard setters such as Dwebble work very well with Minccino, since they can provide chip damage on defensive foes which can enable Minccino to OHKO them. Hazard removers, such as Staryu and Vullaby, work well with Minccino by allowing it to switch in more often and reduce how fast it gets worn down. Mienfoo, Vullaby and Magnemite all work well with Minccino by using Volt Switch and U-turn to get it in without taking damage. Trappers help Minccino to clean by removing common Steel types such as Pawniard, Ferroseed and Magnemite. Diglett, Magnemite and Trapinch all pair well with Minccino for this reason. Fighting types checks such as Vullaby and Spritzee are helpful by giving Minccino a way out of a Fighting-type matchup. Switch-ins to Steel and Rock types are helpful since Minccino struggles to OHKO most of them, and many of them will KO in return.
please mention that, for most bulky targets, minccino will need a spike and sr to ensure a KO with tail slap. i think hazard removers is a lame addition here for reasons above, and because none of them really have strong synergy with minccino other than maybe snivy for soft checking rocks. explain "trappers" in the original sentence and ditch the second one. vullaby is a mediocre fight check; name spritzee first, then like foongus or croagunk or snubbull or whatever else.

please also name the switch-ins to steel- and rock-types.

also in the trapper description, mention that minccino can weaken pokemon like foongus or spritzee down to the point that they can be trapped by diglett or whatever

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A Choice Scarf set can be run to outspeed most of the meta. However, this will reduce Minccino's Tail Slap damage significantly and prevents it from using its coverage moves making it easier to check. Aqua Tail can be used to hit Fire, Rock and Ground types. This punishes a potential Ponyta switch in. However Seed Bomb is more useful in general as it hits Tirtouga very hard. Substitute can be used to get around Foongus' Spore and Pawniard's Sucker Punch. Gunk Shot can be run to OHKO offensive Berry Juice Spritzee.
yea i think we should move the aqua tail mention into moves (unless the moves section is specifically supposed to be only for the moves listed on the set -- if that's the case, drop protect down here); it's better than the other options listed here.

mention king's rock, eviolite

Checks and Counters
===================
**Ferroseed**: Ferroseed can switch into a Tail Slap, and deal significant damage with Iron Barbs
**Mudbray**: Mudbray's Stamina allows it to take a Tail Slap and reach +5 Defence. It can then KO Minccino in return
**Flame Body users**: Flame Body users, such as Ponyta and Larvesta, can switch into a Tail Slap and will often burn Minccino
**Priority users**: Timburr's Mach Punch and Pawniard's Sucker Punch both do heavy damage to Minccino
**Faster opponents**: Threats such as Abra and Wingull can outspeed Minccino and KO it
**Scarfed opponents**: Common Choice Scarf users such as Mienfoo can outspeed Minccino and KO it
i think you should name the percentage (or a rough estimate, like "over half" or w/e it is) of both the damage from iron barbs and the chance to burn from flame body; this info is not common knowledge

mention diglett, as it can outspeed and trap with lo eq or z-eq. mention onix (and kabuto ig...), as it can switch into a tail slap and outspeed minccino. croagunk's vacuum wave chunks it as well. also, mention ghost types (especially frillish and pump, who can trade their eviolites to burn and neuter minc).

these should also be full sentences i think.

Awkward phrasing. It allows to it always hit 5 times. It gives more consistent damage because of the way LC rolls work.

(you don't actually mention that it pairs well with fightings here (you give examples of fighting mons for different other things but don't talk about them as a whole) which you did in usage tips so if that's gonna be changed to reference minccino's role instead of partners i'd mention them as team options tbh)

A Choice Scarf set can be run to outspeed most of the metagame. However, this will reduce Minccino's Tail Slap damage significantly and prevents prevent (parallelism) it from using its coverage moves, (AC) making it easier to check. King's Rock can be used to give Tail Slap a good chance of causing a flinch; however, (AC) but this reduces the power of Tail Slap. (avoiding repetition) Aqua Tail can be used to hit Fire-, Rock-, (AC) and Ground-types (add hyphens), punishing a potential Ponyta switch-in (add hyphen) (mentioning ponyta here is kinda abrupt bc you mention two other types before but up to you/official gpers) (yea only one example when referncing 3 types is weird). However, (AC) Seed Bomb is more useful in general, (AC) as it hits Tirtouga very hard.

(line breaks between each section)

**Ferroseed**: Ferroseed is able to switch into a Tail Slap, (RC) and deal over half damage with Iron Barbs; it. (add period) It can then cripple Minccino with Thunder Wave or deal damage with Bullet Seed. It should be wary of Wake-Up Slap, (AC) however.

**Mudbray**: Mudbray's Stamina ability allows it to take a Tail Slap and reach +5 Defence Defense, after which it can KO Minccino in return. However, it should be wary of switching into a Seed Bomb.

**Flame Body users Users**: Flame Body users, such as Ponyta and Larvesta, can switch into a Tail Slap and have an 85% chance to burn Minccino. Ponyta can then outspeed Minccino and OHKO it with Flare Blitz.

**Priority users Users**: Timburr's Mach Punch, Pawniard's Sucker Punch, (AC) and Croagunk's Vacuum Wave all do heavy damage to Minccino. However, Timburr and Croagunk should avoid switching into a Tail Slap, (AC) and Pawniard should be wary of Wake-Up Slap. (period)

**Faster opponents Foes**: Threats such as Abra and Ponyta can outspeed Minccino and KO it. Ponyta can also switch into Minccino and then outspeed it.

**Scarfed opponents Choice Scarf Users**: Common Choice Scarf users such as Mienfoo and Pawniard can outspeed Minccino and KO it. (tbh this could be combined with the above one but again up to you/gpers) (this one is 100% up to you and qc)

**Diglett**: Diglett can trap and outspeed Minccino, (RC) and KO it with Life Orb-boosted Earthquake or Tectonic Rage or Z-Earthquake sets.

Thanks for the gp check martha.
Due to how LC rolls work (what do you mean by this? pretty awkward point to basically start the analysis off without clariying. is it multi-hit moves doing more? low bp moves doing more?)[/hide]
Spoke to QC about this and they said that what I've put is fine. Otherwise I've implemented the changes; the bit about pairing Minccino with fighting types has been moved to team options.
Thanks

[OVERVIEW]
Minccino is a potent threat capable of breaking through weakened foes. Due to how the way LC damage rolls work, the combination of Tail Slap and Skill Link allows it to do a lot of damage. It has An excellent Speed tier of 18 (RC) allowing also allows (condensing clauses) it to outspeed Mienfoo, Vullaby, and Onix. However, it is outsped by Abra and Ponyta and only Speed ties with Gastly. Its Normal typing is unremarkable other than its weakness to the common Fighting-types that dominate LC. Furthermore, its It has poor defensive stats (RC) which allows allow it to be OHKOed by a wide variety of foes, such as Abra and Mienfoo. Lastly, while it has a good range of coverage options, such as Knock Off and Seed Bomb, its low Attack stat means that other than Tail Slap, its moves are relatively weak.

Moves
========

Tail Slap is a powerful STAB move (RC) that does significant damage to anything that does not resist it due to LC rolls damage mechanics.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

========

Fighting-type checks such as Spritzee and Foongus are helpful by giving give Minccino a way out of a Fighting-type matchup.
