PU Misdreavus [QC 3/3][GP 2/2]

uploaded -zard

[OVERVIEW]

Misdreavus finds its place in the PU metagame as a Fighting-type check, a spinblocker, and a good utility Pokemon with an unpredictable support movepool. For example, it is able to punish potential switch-ins like Lilligant and Swanna with Thunder Wave and can run a number of other options in its last moveslot, such as Pain Split, Memento, Destiny Bond, and Nasty Plot. However, Misdreavus is often overshadowed as a Ghost-type by the likes of Jellicent, Oricorio-G, Froslass, and Sableye, as these Pokemon have more reliable means of recovery and are not overly reliant on Eviolite like Misdreavus is. Misdreavus does, however, have some niche attributes that allows allow it to stand out among the other Ghost-types in the tier. The main niche Misdreavus holds is its ability to outspeed Pokemon such as Skuntank and Absol and cripple them with Will-O-Wisp, which Sableye is unable to do due to Dark-types being immune to Prankster moves. Another quality Misdreavus brings to the table is being a fast Taunt user that can put pressure on bulkier teams consisting of Pokemon such as Clefairy and Munchlax that are easily shut down by Taunt. However, Misdreavus's reliance on Eviolite can often be a burden for it, as this makes Misdreavus very weak to Knock Off, meaning it can struggle to check Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Throh that threaten it on the switch. This is one of the main reasons why other Ghost-types such as Colbur Berry Jellicent and bulky Oricorio-G are more easy to fit on teams; the former only takes neutral damage from Knock Off and threatens Fighting-types with Psychic, while the latter often carries Flyinium Z or Colbur Berry, which allows it to take reduced damage from Knock Off.

Moves
========

Hex is Misdreavus's best attacking move and turns into a 130-Base Power attack in conjunction with Will-O-Wisp, helping decrease Misdreavus's passivity. Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon such as Aggron and Absol, reducing their damage output and chipping away at their health each turn. Taunt helps Misdreavus against passive Pokemon such as Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output and helps against entry hazard setters such as Mesprit. It is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with using recovery moves as well as stopping the use of Defog from the likes of Skuntank and Altaria. Pain Split gives Misdreavus a form of recovery, increasing its longevity and punishing Pokemon with large HP stats such as Mudsdale and Type: Null. Alternatively, Memento is generally used on more offensive teams, allowing a teammate like Omastar to come in and set up. Thunder Wave is another useful option that cripples faster threats that are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Floatzel on the switch.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP EVs and an Eviolite allow Misdreavus to be as bulky as possible both physically and specially. Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature is important for Misdreavus to outrun Pokemon like Skuntank and Alolan Raticate and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. The Speed investment also helps Misdreavus outrun and Taunt Pokemon such as Mesprit and bulky Oricorio-G. Levitate is helpful against Ground-types such as Mudsdale and Golem as well as Choice-locked Pokemon like Aggron and Primeape that often use Earthquake as a strong coverage move. Levitate also lets Misdreavus avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

Misdreavus should be primarily used as a check to Fighting-type Pokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan. One of Misdreavus's other main roles is that of a spinblocker, as it can switch into common Rapid Spin users such as Hitmonchan and Alolan Sandslash decently well. Be wary of Pokemon such as Eelektross and Audino, as they often carry Knock Off, which compromises Misdreavus's defenses and also deals super effective damage. Luring in Dark-type Pokemon like Skuntank and burning them with Will-O-Wisp is a big part of Misdreavus's viability, as this can give teammates such as Bellossom and Musharna more opportunities to set up. Pain Split is usually used when Misdreavus is low on HP while the opposing Pokemon is healthy, as this maximizes the recovery Misdreavus gains from using it. Memento is often used when Misdreavus has done its job in the battle already and there is an opportunity to set up with a teammate. However, Memento can even be used as soon as Misdreavus comes in, if there is a sweeper in the back that is guaranteed to win the game and just needs an opportunity to safely set up. Thunder Wave should be used against faster Pokemon that do not care about getting burned or are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Froslass and Floatzel. A good idea is to not be too hasty when using this move and surprise the opponent later on in the battle, when they are more likely to switch in their offensive threats with a false sense of security. Misdreavus can work very well against bulkier builds such as stall and balance, since it can use Taunt can shut down recovery and utility moves like Roost and Heal Bell while spreading burns with Will-O-Wisp to deal residual damage. Pain Split helps a lot in this matchup, as staying healthy is key.

Team Options
========

Having a backup Fighting-resistant teammate is always a good idea when using Misdreavus, as Misdreavus lacks a lot of staying power because Pain Split isn't a very reliable form of recovery and Misdreavus can't take on Gurdurr too well. Qwilfish and Weezing stand out as good partners, as Misdreavus really appreciates the Toxic Spikes support to boost up the power of Hex. Knock Off absorbers such as Silvally-Fairy and Poliwrath make for good partners to switch into Pokemon such as Liepard and Absol. This is because Liepard is able to outspeed Misdreavus and OHKO it before Liepard can be burned, and Absol can simply use Swords Dance and ignore the Attack reduction from a burn. Bulky setup sweepers such as Bellossom and Calm Mind Clefairy really appreciate Misdreavus's ability to burn Skuntank, as halving its Attack gives them the ability to take Poison Jab much more easily. Psychic-type Pokemon like Mesprit and Alolan Raichu appreciate Dark-type Pokemon like Skuntank being burned and weakened, which gives them a better opportunity to set up without getting Pursuit trapped. Setup sweepers such as Carracosta and Lilligant appreciate the support Misdreavus provides in Taunt, Memento, and Will-O Wisp, as Taunting Pokemon like Regirock and Altaria prevents them from using Toxic and potentially preventing the sweep before they've set up, and Memento and Will-O-Wisp reduce the damage output of the opposing Pokemon, meaning they are healthier when setting up. Thunder Wave Misdreavus is able to help out slower wallbreakers such as Stoutland outspeed faster threats and not get revenge killed as easily. Misdreavus pairs well with Spikes users such as Qwilfish and Omastar, as it can block Rapid Spin well and force many switches due to the threat of its utility moves. Regirock is a notable partner that has great type synergy with Misdreavus, since it is weak to Fighting- and Ground-type attacks and Misdreavus is immune to both. Regirock is also able to take on Normal-type Pokemon with Scrappy such as Stoutland and Kangaskhan, which Misdreavus can often struggle against.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

An offensive Nasty Plot set with Shadow Ball, Taunt, and Dazzling Gleam or Hidden Power Fighting can work pretty well for breaking down defensive cores, but Misdreavus loses out on a lot of bulk without HP investment, and more offensive Ghost-types such as Haunter and Oricorio-G can usually perform this role better. Destiny Bond is an option that more often than not allows Misdreavus to take an opposing Pokemon down with when it gets knocked out. This is also one of Misdreavus's more reliable ways of taking out Dark-types such as Skuntank and Absol if burning them isn't enough. A more physically defensive spread could be used to better take hits from Fighting-types, but missing out on Misdreavus's base 85 Speed tier isn't generally worth it, as outspeeding Dark-types such as Skuntank is crucial, and this kind of set is done better by Pokemon such as Sableye and Spiritomb. Foul Play is an option to hit Normal-type Pokemon that try to switch into Misdreavus such as Ursaring and Zangoose, but it doesn't hit much else and doesn't provide the same kind of consistent damage that Hex does. Toxic is an option over Will-O-Wisp, as it works well with Taunt and can wear down opposing Pokemon with reliable recovery a lot more easily, but Misdreavus often prefers the damage reduction that Will-O-Wisp provides.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal-types**: Normal-type Pokemon that don't care about Will-O-Wisp such as Stoutland and Ursaring can switch in pretty freely and proceed to hit Misdreavus with Facade in Stoutland's case or Crunch in Ursaring's case. Bulky Normal-type Pokemon like Audino and Type: Null are able to switch in and pivot back out; neither of them mind the burn from Will-O-Wisp too much, since Audino relies more on Toxic to deal damage, and Type: Null can use Rest to cure the burn later on in the battle against a different Pokemon because Misdreavus can Taunt it.

**Dark-types**: Strong Dark-type Pokemon such as Absol and Alolan Raticate can still hit Misdreavus really hard with Knock Off despite Misdreavus being able to outspeed them and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Dark-type Pokemon that can outspeed Misdreavus such as Liepard and Alolan Persian are even more threatening, as they can hit Misdreavus before it can retaliate and also Taunt it to prevent being burned. Specially offensive Skuntank also doesn't care about the burn too much and can threaten Misdreavus with Dark Pulse.

**Fire-types**: Since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex, Fire-type Pokemon like Combusken and Simisear are able to beat Misdreavus one-on-one. However, they still have to be wary of getting hit by Thunder Wave on the switch.

**Special Attackers**: Specially offensive Pokemon such as Drampa and Aurorus don't care much about being burned by Will-O-Wisp and can hit Misdreavus with their powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Blizzard, respectively. Additionally, Drampa is immune to Hex.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Misdreavus is often overshadowed as a Ghost-Type in the PU metagame by the likes of Spiritomb, Oricorio-G and Sableye as these Pokemon have more reliable means of recovery and are not overly reliant on Eviolite like Misdreavus can be. (not a fan with starting off negative for a b ranked pokemon, seems a little off. this should be later)
  • It does however have some niche attributes that allows it to stand out among the other Ghost-Types in the tier. The main niche Misdreavus holds is the ability to outspeed Pokemon such as Skuntank, Kingler and Absol and cripple them with Will-O-Wisp allowing for itself or a teammate to take advantage of the lowered Attack stat. (i'd mention the fact that, unlike sableye, it can pressure dark-types too, because of the prankster nerf) (it's also one of the best ghost-types to deal with dark-types as basically all of the viable ones severally struggle vs it)
  • Another quality Misdreavus brings to the table is being a fast Taunt user which can really put pressure on bulkier teams with Pokemon such as Clefairy and Type: Null who are easily shut down. (this is weird. you mention type: null in checks and counters but then mention it as being shut down here?)
  • However, Misdreavus's Eviolite can often be a burden for it as makes it very weak to Knock Off, meaning it can struggle to check Fighting-Types such as Gurdurr and Throh who threaten it on the switch in. This is one of the main reasons why other Ghost-Types such as Spiritomb and bulky Oricorio-G are more splashable on teams since the former only takes neutral damage from Knock Off and threatens with Psychic, whilst the latter often carries Flyinium Z or Colbur Berry which allows it to take reduced damage from Knock Off. (froslass competition too tbh. bulky does an extremely similar job the missy rn)
rather unpredictable with its support moves. has a lot of viable options that make it hard for the opponent to deal with. another point about it letting both pyroar and basically aurorus in for free if lacking thunder wave.

Moves
========

  • Hex is Misdreavus' only attacking move and it works really well in conjuction with Will-O-Wisp as its power doubles and turns into a 130 base power attack when the target has a status ailment. (this allows it to make up for no special attack investment too)
  • Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon to reduce their damage output and chip away at their health each turn. (mention mons it hits)
  • Taunt helps Misdreavus against more passive Pokemon such as Altaria and Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output. It is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with Soft-Boiled. (mention that it also stops these pokemon from either removing or setting hazards, respectively)
  • Pain Split gives Misdreavus some form of recovery which is useful for its longetivity and its ability to punish Pokemon with large HP stats.
  • Memento can be used to drop the opponents Attack and Special Attack by two stages whilst you faint in the process, allowing for a teammate to come in afterwards and set up. (should be used on more offensive teams though)
  • Thunder Wave is another cool option that can cripple faster threats such as Pyroar or Zangoose on the switch in if its Toxic Orb hasn't activated as both of these Pokemon are immune to Misdreavus's other moves. (i mean, wouldn't you just wisp the zangoose. i guess this is a rather weird one as maybe one would be better in one battle and the other in another? i'd still prefer to wisp. mention some scarfers though would be neat)

Set Details
========

  • Maximum HP EVs (near maximum) as well as being equiped with an Eviolite allows Misdreavus to be as bulky as possible on both the physical and special side.
  • Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature is important for Misdreavus to outrun Jolly Skuntank and burn it with Will-O-Wisp. (mention a few others here) (also mention taunt use too)
  • Levitate is Misdreavus's only ability but it can be helpful against Ground-Types such as Mudsdale and Golem as well as choice locked Pokemon like Aggron and Primeape who often use Earthquake as a strong coverage move. (immune to spikes and toxic spikes means it isn't as easily chipped by entry hazards, also not affect by webs too)

Usage Tips
========

  • Misdreavus should be primarily used as a Fighting-Type check to Pokemon such as Primeape, Hitmonchan and Gurdurr. Although you have to be careful when switching directly into Gurdurr since Misdreavus takes a lot of damage and is heavily crippled by Knock Off. Ideally Gurdurr should be already statused and chipped so that Misdreavus can revenge kill with Hex. (no it's a bad gurdurr check, like you've said in the overview. remove and change to a different pokemon)
  • One of Misdreavus's other main roles is that of a spinblocker as Midreavus :blobglare: can switch into common Rapid Spin users such as Hitmonchan and Alolan Sandslash decently well and block the Rapid Spin with its Ghost-Typing. (is one of the best spinblockers because it isn't weak to the most common spinners)
  • Misdreavus should be careful when the opponent has a Pyroar on their team as Misdreavus can often allow Pyroar to switch in for free since its immune to both Hex and Will-O-Wisp. (same thing for aurorus really)
  • Be wary of Pokemon such as Eelektross and Audino as they often carry Knock Off which Misdreavus hates as it compromises its defenses by half and also takes super effective damage from it. (just any knock off users. eel is a very weird one to mention because i wouldn't keep missy in versus it. audino at least makes sense because you can heavily mess with it and the team it's on (due to it almost always being stall))
  • Luring in Skuntank and burning it with Will-O-Wisp is a big part of Misdreavus's viability as this can give teammates such as Bellossom and Musharna good opportunities to set up easier. (all dark-types, or at least the slower ones, should be included here. it isn't mutually exclusive to dispatching skuntank)
  • taunt please
  • thunder wave vs wisp usage
  • stall match up / balance mu

Team Options
========

  • Having a back up Fighting-Type resist is always a good idea when using Misdreavus as Misdreavus lacks a lot of staying power since Pain Split isn't a very reliable form of recovery and Misdreavus also can't take on Gurdurr too well. Qwilfish and Weezing stand out as good partners as Misdreavus really appreciates the Toxic Spikes support to boost up the power of Hex.
  • Knock Off absorbers such as Silvally-Fairy and Poliwrath make for good partners as they can switch in on Pokemon such as Liepard and Alolan Raticate on predicted Knock Off's. (missy supports them how?)
  • Bulky set up sweepers such as Bellossom and Calm Mind Clefairy really appreciate Misdreavus's ability to burn Skuntank specifially as halving its Attack gives them the ability to take Poison Jabs a lot easier. (i'm certain that bellossom beats all non choiced physical skuntank's regardless)
you can deffo do better than this. so many pokemon appreciate having dark-types gone. mention psychic-types. mention pokemon that appreciate taunt support, memento support, thunder wave support.

  • Shadow Ball allows Misdreavus to inflict more consistant damage against Pokemon that are not crippled by status but this also means Misdreavus misses out on a 130 base power Hex when inflicting status with Misdreavus isn't a particularly hard task. (nah shadow ball sucks)
  • An offensive Nasty Plot set with Shadow Ball, Taunt and Dazzling Gleam or Hidden Power Fighting can work pretty well for breaking down defensive cores but you lose out on a lot of bulk without HP investment and more offensive Ghost-Types such as Haunter and Oricorio-G can usually perform this role better.
  • Destiny Bond is an option that more often than not allows you to take an opposing Pokemon down with you when you get knocked out. This is also one of Misdreavus' more reliable ways of taking out Dark-Types such as Skuntank and Absol if burning them isn't enough.
  • A more physically defenisive spread could be used to better take hits from Fighting-Types but missing out on Misdreavus's base 85 Speed tier isn't generally worth it and this kind of set can be outclassed by Pokemon such as Sableye and Spiritomb. (it needs the speed to deal with dark-types, stress this heavily here)
  • Foul Play is an option to hit Normal-Type Pokemon that try to switch in such as Ursaring and Zangoose but it doesn't hit much else and doesn't provide the same kind of consistant damage as Hex does.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal Types**: Normal-Type Pokemon that are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Pyroar, Ursaring and Komala can switch in pretty freely and proceed to hit Misdreavus with their respective coverage moves. Bulky Normal-Type Pokemon like Audino and Type: Null are able to switch in and pivot back out as they both don't mind the burn from Will-O-Wisp too much since Audino relies more on residual damage to deal damage and Type: Null can use Rest to cure the burn later on in the game.

Dark-Type Pokemon that can outspeed such as Liepard and Alolan Persian can be considered even more of a threat as they can hit Misdreavus before it can retaliate and also Taunt it to prevent being burnt. (mainly alolan persian will be taunting)

**Fire Types**: A lot of Fire-Type Pokemon like Combusken, Ninetales and Rapidash are able to beat Misdreavus 1v1 since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex. (have to be wary of thunder wave however) (substitute ninetales can also be mention here)

**Special Attackers**: Specially attacking Pokemon such as Drampa and Aurorus don't care much about being burnt by Will-O-Wisp and can hit Misdreavus with their powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Blizzard, the former also being immune to Hex.
Aight. QC 1/3. Team Options needs heavy expansion, along with a bit more in usage tips. Otherwise fine.

The content here is fine, I just feel the order of the points, specifically, alternating back and forth between positives and negatives, make a bit weird to read.

Spreading burns early-game?

  • Set up sweepers such as Carracosta and Lilligant appreciate the support Misdreavus provides in Taunt and Memento as taunting Pokemon like Regirock and Altaria prevents them from using Toxic and potentially preventing the sweep before they've set up. Memento is able to reduce the damage output of the opposing Pokemon, meaning the set up sweepers are healthier when setting up. Will-O-Wisp also makes setup even easier against physical attackers.

Hazard setters/stackers such as Omastar and Shuckle appreciate a spinblocker.

  • Foul Play is an option to hit Normal-Type Pokemon that try to switch in such as Ursaring and Zangoose but it doesn't hit much else and doesn't provide the same kind of consistant damage as Hex does.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal Types**: Normal-Type Pokemon that are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Pyroar, Ursaring and Komala Replace Komala with Stoutland or Zangoose can switch in pretty freely and proceed to hit Misdreavus with their respective coverage moves. Aren't both shut down by Taunt? Audino has Knock Off I suppose but still isn't very solid.

**Dark Types**: Strong Dark-Type Pokemon such as Absol and Alolan Raticate can still hit Misdreavus really hard with their powerful Knock Offs despite Misdreavus being able to outspeed and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Dark-Type Pokemon that can outspeed such as Liepard and Alolan Persian can be considered even more of a threat as they can hit Misdreavus before it can retaliate and also Taunt it to prevent being burnt.

**Fire Types**: A lot of Fire-Type Pokemon like Combusken, Ninetales and Rapidash Just drop Rapidash. You can replace it with, like, Turtunator if you want but Rapidash is pretty bad are able to beat Misdreavus 1v1 since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex. However, they still have to be wary of getting hit by Thunder Wave on the switch.

**Special Attackers**: Specially attacking Pokemon such as Drampa and Aurorus don't care much about being burnt by Will-O-Wisp and can hit Misdreavus with their powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Blizzard, the former also being also being...?

Knock Off section? Overlaps with Dark-types slightly but there's still Gurdurr, Eelektross, Clefairy, etc.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Misdreavus finds its place in the PU metagame as a Fighting-Type check and a spinblocker with good utility.
  • Although, Misdreavus is often overshadowed as a Ghost-Type by the likes of Spiritomb, Oricorio-G, Froslass and Sableye as these Pokemon have more reliable means of recovery and are not overly reliant on Eviolite like Misdreavus can be.
  • It does however have some niche attributes that allows it to stand out among the other Ghost-Types in the tier. The main niche Misdreavus holds is the ability to outspeed Pokemon such as Skuntank and Absol and cripple them with Will-O-Wisp which Sableye is unable to do due to Dark-Types being immune to Prankster moves. This allows for itself or a teammate to take advantage of the lowered Attack stat.
  • Another quality Misdreavus brings to the table is being a fast Taunt user which can really put pressure on bulkier teams with Pokemon such as Clefairy and Munchlax who are easily shut down.
  • However, Misdreavus has a lot of different support moves such as Memento, Thunder Wave and Destiny Bond so it can be rather unpredictable. For example, Pokemon who would normally switch in for free like Pyroar don't appreciate being crippled by Thunder Wave.
i would stress that an unpredictable support movepool is missy's biggest thing, the potential to run into memento/twave/split/np/wisp and need to handle all of them is the best thing it's got.

Moves

  • Hex is Misdreavus' only *best, it gets other lol attacking move and it works really well in conjuction with Will-O-Wisp as its power doubles and turns into a 130 base power attack when the target has a status ailment. This somewhat alleviates having no Special Attack investment.
  • Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon such as Kingler and Absol to reduce their damage output and chip away at their health each turn.
  • Taunt helps Misdreavus against more passive Pokemon such as Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output. It is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with Soft-Boiled as well as stopping the use of Defog from the likes of Skuntank and Altaria.
  • Pain Split gives Misdreavus some form of recovery which is useful for its longetivity and its ability to punish Pokemon with large HP stats.
  • Memento is generally used on more offensive teams and can be used to drop the opponents Attack and Special Attack by two stages whilst you faint in the process, allowing for a teammate to come in afterwards and set up.
  • Thunder Wave is another cool option that can cripple faster threats such as Pyroar or Floatzel on the switch as both of these Pokemon are immune to Misdreavus's Will-O-Wisp.

Set Details
========

  • Near maximum HP EVs as well as being equipped with an Eviolite allows Misdreavus to be as bulky as possible on both the physical and special side.
  • Maximum Speed investment with a Timid nature is important for Misdreavus to outrun Pokemon like Skuntank and Alolan Raticate and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. The Speed investment also helps Misdreavus outrun and Taunt Pokemon such as Mesprit and bulky Oricorio-G.
  • Levitate is Misdreavus's only ability but it can be helpful against Ground-Types such as Mudsdale and Golem as well as choice locked Pokemon like Aggron and Primeape who often use Earthquake as a strong coverage move. It also helps by avoiding entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

  • Misdreavus should be primarily used as a Fighting-Type check to Pokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan is it is immune to their respective STAB moves.
  • One of Misdreavus's other main roles is that of a spinblocker as it can switch into common Rapid Spin users such as Hitmonchan and Alolan Sandslash decently well and block the Rapid Spin with its Ghost-Typing.
  • Misdreavus should be careful when the opponent has a Pyroar on their team as Misdreavus can often allow Pyroar to switch in for free since its immune to both Hex and Will-O-Wisp.
  • Be wary of Pokemon such as Eelektross and Audino as they often carry Knock Off which Misdreavus hates as it compromises its defenses by half and also takes super effective damage from it.
  • Luring in Dark-Type Pokemon like Skuntank and burning them with Will-O-Wisp is a big part of Misdreavus's viability as this can give teammates such as Bellossom and Musharna good opportunities to set up easier.
  • Use Taunt against slower and more passive Pokemon such as Clefairy and Altaria to prevent them from recoving health as well as setting hazards in Clefairy's case and removing them in Altaria's case.
  • Thunder Wave should be used against faster Pokemon that do not care about getting burnt or are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Froslass and Pyroar. id also talk about saving this as a surprise to definitely catch and cripple their pyroar/whatever, don't just wildly reveal it
  • Misdreavus can work very well against bulkier builds such as Stall and Balance since Taunt can shut down recovery moves and you can spread Will-O-Wisp to deal residual damage. Pain Split helps a lot in this matchup as staying healthy is key.
wouldn't mind seeing somth about using memento and split, especially as a surprise option

Team Options
========

  • Knock Off absorbers such as Silvally-Fairy and Poliwrath make for good partners as they can switch in on Pokemon such as Liepard and Absol on predicted Knock Off's.
  • Bulky set up sweepers such as Bellossom and Calm Mind Clefairy really appreciate Misdreavus's ability to burn Skuntank specifially as halving its Attack gives them the ability to take Poison Jabs a lot easier.
  • Psychic-Type Pokemon like Mesprit and Raichu-Alola appreciate Dark-Type Pokemon being burnt and weakened as it gives them a better opportunity to set up and not get Pursuit trapped.
  • Thunder Wave is able to help out slower wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Kingler outspeed faster threats and not get revenge killed as easily.
missy also does fairly well with spikes, both bc u spin block and bc it can force switches nicely with threat of split/wisp/twave/whatever

Other Options
=============

  • A more physically defenisive spread could be used to better take hits from Fighting-Types but missing out on Misdreavus's base 85 Speed tier isn't generally worth it as outspeeding Dark-Types is crucial and this kind of set can be outclassed by Pokemon such as Sableye and Spiritomb.
  • Foul Play is an option to hit Normal-Type Pokemon that try to switch in such as Ursaring and Zangoose but it doesn't hit much else and doesn't provide the same kind of consistant damage as Hex does.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal Types**: Normal-Type Pokemon that are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Pyroar, Ursaring and Komala can switch in pretty freely and proceed to hit Misdreavus with their respective coverage moves. Bulky Normal-Type Pokemon like Audino and Type: Null are able to switch in and pivot back out as they both don't mind the burn from Will-O-Wisp too much since Audino relies more on residual damage to deal damage and Type: Null can use Rest to cure the burn later on in the game. ursa isnt exactly immune to wisp, just a small clarification tho rly. also stout and zangoose are more deserving of showing up here than fuckin komala lol

**Fire Types**: A lot of Fire-Type Pokemon like Combusken, Ninetales and Rapidash are able to beat Misdreavus 1v1 since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex. However, they still have to be wary of getting hit by Thunder Wave on the switch. i don't like mentioning the unranked rapidash. u could mention pyroar here and drop it from normal section tbh, it checks missy very differently from the other normals (it's not absorbing wisp like stout/goose/ursa or not caring like null or dino, it's immune and being a fire type breaker)

**Special Attackers**: Specially attacking Pokemon such as Drampa and Aurorus don't care much about being burnt by Will-O-Wisp and can hit Misdreavus with their powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Blizzard, the former also being immune to Hex.

This somewhat alleviates having no Special Attack investment. Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon such as Kingler (rip, could replace with aggron) and Absol to reduce their damage output and chip away at their health each turn. Taunt helps Misdreavus against more passive Pokemon such as Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output. It is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with Soft-Boiled as well as stopping the use of Defog from the likes of Skuntank and Altaria (missy also has a decent rocker match up in general so taunt is fairly reliable for that also). Pain Split gives Misdreavus some form of recovery which is useful for its longetivity and its ability to punish Pokemon with large HP stats such as Mudsdale and Type: Null. Memento is generally used on more offensive teams and can be used to drop the opponents Attack and Special Attack by two stages whilst you faint in the process, allowing for a teammate like Carracosta to come in afterwards and set up. Pain Split is usually used when Misdreavus is low on HP whilst the opposing Pokemon is high on HP, this maximises the recovery you gain from using it. Memento is often used when Misdreavus has done its job in the battle already and there is an opportunity to set up with a teammate. Although, Memento can even be used as soon as Misdreavus comes in, if there is a guaranteed win condition in the back that just needs an opportunity to set up. Thunder Wave should be used against faster Pokemon that do not care about getting burnt or are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Froslass and Pyroar. A good idea is to not be too hasty when using this move and surprise the opponent later on in the battle when they are more likely switch in their offensive threats with a false sense of security. strongly advocate regirock mention here due to its typing synergy (missy fighting check/ground immune etc, regi fire check), ability to take on most physical darks well esp skuntank, and how it allows missy to burn stoutland with much less fear since it can easily switch into a burned stout and wall it effortlessly. def oma to a lesser extent works as it does similar things while also hazard stacking and thus appreciate missy's spinblocking

toxic deserves a mention for obvious reasons, also works well in tandem with taunt for semi-stallbreaking

(i would maybe talk about taunt in 1v1 scenarios as type null can't rest and thus is forced out, while audino while usually not liking taunt isn't as bothered by missy with it due to the threat of knock off but yea good otherwise)

**Dark Types**: Strong Dark-type Pokemon such as Absol and Alolan Raticate can still hit Misdreavus really hard with their powerful Knock Offs despite Misdreavus being able to outspeed and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Misdreavus finds its place in the PU metagame as a Fighting-type check, a spinblocker,(AC) and a good utility Pokemon with an unpredictable support movepool,(AC) as it can run has a number of options such as Pain Split, Memento, Thunder Wave, Destiny Bond and Nasty Plot in for its last slot moveslot. Moves

Hex is Misdreavus' Misdreavus's best attacking move and it works really well in conjuction conjunction with Will-O-Wisp,(AC) as its power doubles and turns into a 130 base power Base Power attack when the target has a status ailment,(AC) This somewhat alleviates having no Special Attack investment helping decrease Misdreavus's passivity (this flows better and avoids that awkward follow-up sentence). Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon such as Aggron and Absol,(AC) to reduce reducing their damage output and chip chipping away at their health each turn. Taunt helps Misdreavus against more passive Pokemon such as Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output.(RP) Taunt is able to and help helps against entry hazard setters such as Mesprit by prevent preventing them from getting up Stealth Rock entry hazards. It Taunt is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with Soft-Boiled recovery moves as well as stopping the use of Defog from the likes of Skuntank and Altaria. Pain Split gives Misdreavus some a form of recovery,(AC) which is useful for its longetivity increasing Misdreavus's longevity and its ability to punish punishing Pokemon with large HP stats such as Mudsdale and Type: Null. Knock Off absorbers such as Silvally-Fairy and Poliwrath make for good partners as because they can switch in on into Pokemon such as Liepard and Absol on a predicted Knock Off's use of Knock Off.(AP) Additionally, as Liepard is able to outspeed Misdreavus and knock it out OHKO it before it Liepard can get burnt be burned,(AC) whilst while (you've used 'whilst' a lot, so this change helps break that pattern) Absol and can simply use Swords Dance and ignore the Attack reduction from a burn. Bulky set up setup sweepers such as Bellossom and Calm Mind Clefairy really appreciate Misdreavus's ability to burn Skuntank,(AC) specifially as halving its Attack gives them the ability to take Poison Jabs Jab a lot much easier. Psychic-Type Psychic-type Pokemon like Mesprit and Raichu-Alola Alolan Raichu appreciate Dark-Type Dark-type Pokemon like Skuntank being burnt burned and weakened,(AC) as it gives them a better opportunity to set up and not get Pursuit trapped. Set up Setup sweepers such as Carracosta and Lilligant appreciate the support Misdreavus provides in Taunt, Memento,(AC) and Will-O-Wisp as taunting Taunting Pokemon like Regirock and Altaria prevents them from using Toxic and potentially preventing the sweep before they've set up (wouldn't this sentence go better with the other mention of setup sweepers?). Memento is able to and Will-O-Wisp reduce the damage output of the opposing Pokemon, meaning the set up setup sweepers are healthier when setting up. Will-O-Wisp is also able to reduce the damage from physical attackers to help set up. Thunder Wave is able to help out slower wallbreakers such as Stoutland and Kingler outspeed faster threats and not get revenge killed as easily. Misdreavus can pair pairs well with Spikes users such as Qwilfish and Omastar,(AC) as it can block Rapid Spin users well and Misdreavus can also force quite a few switches due to the threat of its utility moves in Pain Split, Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave (you've mentioned these utility moves many times already, so the reader should know by now what they are). Since it is weak to Fighting- and Ground-type attacks and Misdreavus is immune to both,(AC) Regirock is a notable partner as they share it has great type synergy with Misdreavus since it is weak to Fighting- and Ground-type attacks and Misdreavus is immune to both. Regirock is also able to take on Normal-type Pokemon with Scrappy such as Stoutland and Kangaskhan,(AC) which Misdreavus can often struggle against.

An offensive Nasty Plot set with Shadow Ball, Taunt and Dazzling Gleam or Hidden Power Fighting can work pretty well for breaking down defensive cores,(AC) but you Misdreavus lose loses out on a lot of bulk without HP investment,(AC) and more offensive Ghost-Types Ghost-types such as Haunter and Oricorio-G can usually perform this role better. Destiny Bond is an option that more often than not allows you Misdreavus to take an opposing Pokemon down with you it when you it get gets knocked out. This is also one of Misdreavus' Misdreavus's more reliable ways of taking out Dark-types such as Skuntank and Absol if burning them isn't enough. A more physically defenisive defensive spread could be used to better take hits from Fighting-Types Fighting-types,(AC) but missing out on Misdreavus's base 85 Speed tier isn't generally worth it,(AC) as outspeeding Dark-Types Dark-types such as Skuntank is crucial,(AC) and this kind of set can be outclassed is done better by Pokemon such as Sableye and Spiritomb. Foul Play is an option to hit Normal-Type Normal-type Pokemon that try to switch in into Misdreavus such as Ursaring and Zangoose,(AC) but it doesn't hit much else and doesn't provide the same kind of consistant consistent damage as Hex does. Toxic is an option over Will-O-Wisp,(AC) as it works well with Taunt and can wear down opposing Pokemon with reliable recovery a lot easier more easily,(AC) but Misdreavus often prefers the reduced damage output damage reduction that Will-O-Wisp provides.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal Types**: Normal-type Pokemon that don't care about Will-O-Wisp such as Stoutland and Ursaring can switch in pretty freely and proceed to hit Misdreavus with Facade in Stoutland's case or Crunch in Ursaring's case. Bulky Normal-Type Normal-type Pokemon like Audino and Type: Null are able to switch in and pivot back out,(AC) as they both don't mind the burn from Will-O-Wisp too much since Audino relies more on residual damage Toxic to deal damage,(AC) and Type: Null can use Rest to cure the burn later on in the game battle against a different Pokemon since because Misdreavus can Taunt it.

**Dark Types**: Strong Dark-type Pokemon such as Absol and Alolan Raticate can still hit Misdreavus really hard with their powerful Knock Offs Knock Off despite Misdreavus being able to outspeed and burn them with Will-O-Wisp. Dark-Type Dark-type Pokemon that can outspeed Misdreavus such as Liepard and Alolan Persian can be considered are even more of a threat,(AC) as they can hit Misdreavus before it can retaliate and also Taunt it to prevent being burnt burned. Specially based offensive Skuntank also doesn't care about the burn too much and can threaten Misdreavus with Dark Pulse.

**Fire Types**: A lot of Since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex,(AC) Fire-type Pokemon like Pyroar, Combusken and Ninetales are able to beat Misdreavus 1v1 one-on-one since they are immune to Will-O-Wisp and therefore take less damage from Hex as well as Pyroar being immune to Hex also. However, they still have to be wary of getting hit by Thunder Wave on the switch.

**Special Attackers**: Specially attacking offensive Pokemon such as Drampa and Aurorus don't care much about being burnt burned by Will-O-Wisp and can hit Misdreavus with their powerful STAB moves in Draco Meteor and Blizzard, respectively.(AP) Additionally, the former also being Drampa is immune to Hex.

Rabia this check was pretty solid, you're very good at the grammar part of this aside from a few missed serial commas & commas before since/as/which & uses of "who". The main thing that you could use work on is making sure that after your changes, the prose still makes sense and the analysis still flows well, which is most visible in Team Options. In addition, make sure your changes are necessary. Many of the changes where you moved "since" phrases to the start of the sentence made it a bit more clunky imo. Ask me if you have any questions regarding the check/ways you can improve. This was good, keep improving!

[OVERVIEW]

Misdreavus finds its place in the PU metagame as a Fighting-type check, a spinblocker, (AC) and a good utility Pokemon with an unpredictable support movepool, (AC) as it can run has a number of options such as Pain Split, Memento, Thunder Wave, Destiny Bond, (AC) and Nasty Plot in for its last slot moveslot. For example, Misdreavus's unpredictability allows it to punish potential switch-ins like Lilligant and Swanna with Thunder Wave. Although However, (Rabia, the change you made caused this to be a sentence fragment. Watch out.) Misdreavus is often overshadowed as a Ghost-type by the likes of Spiritomb, Oricorio-G, Froslass, (AC) and Sableye, (AC) as these Pokemon have more reliable means of recovery and are not overly reliant on Eviolite like Misdreavus can be is. (from my understanding, Misdreavus is super reliant on Eviolite to do its job well. If you feel otherwise, ignore that change) It Misdreavus does, (AC) however, (AC) have some niche attributes that allows allow it to stand out among the other Ghost-Types Ghost-types in the tier. The main niche Misdreavus holds is the its ability to outspeed Pokemon such as Skuntank and Absol and cripple them with Will-O-Wisp, (AC) which Sableye is unable to do due to Dark-types being immune to Prankster moves. This allows for itself Misdreavus or a teammate to take advantage of the foe's lowered Attack stat. Another quality Misdreavus brings to the table is being a fast Taunt user which that can really put pressure on bulkier teams with consisting of Pokemon such as Clefairy and Munchlax who that (Don't refer to Pokemon as who) are easily shut down by Taunt. However, Misdreavus's reliance on Eviolite can often be a burden for it, (AC) as this makes it Misdreavus very weak to Knock Off, meaning it can struggle to check Fighting-Types Fighting-types such as Gurdurr and Throh who that threaten it on the switch in. (Switch-in, hyphenated, is a noun that refers to Pokemon that can switch into the thing.) This is one of the main reasons why other Ghost-Types Ghost-types such as Spiritomb and bulky Oricorio-G are more splashable easy to fit (splashable is a no-no gp wise bc it's a TCG term that means "easy to fit on an already completed deck" or smth) on teams since; (ASC) the former only takes neutral damage from Knock Off and threatens Fighting-types with Psychic, whilst while the latter often carries Flyinium Z or Colbur Berry, (AC) which allows it to take reduced damage from Knock Off. However, Misdreavus has a lot of different support moves such as Memento, Thunder Wave and Destiny Bond so it can be rather unpredictable. For example, Pokemon who would normally switch in for free like Pyroar don't appreciate being crippled by Thunder Wave. (this information felt both repetitive and placed awkwardly, so I moved the example bit closer to the top and cut out the first sentence. Feel free to find different Pokemon to refer to, just needed to remove the Pyroar mention!)

Moves
========

Hex is Misdreavus' Misdreavus's best attacking move and it works really well in conjuction conjunction with Will-O-Wisp, (AC) as its power doubles and it turns into a 130 base power 130-Base Power attack when the target has a status ailment, (AC) This somewhat alleviates having no Special Attack investment helping decrease Misdreavus's passivity. (this flows better and avoids that awkward follow-up sentence) Will-O-Wisp allows Misdreavus to inflict burns on the opposing Pokemon such as Aggron and Absol to reduce, (AC) reducing their damage output and chip chipping away at their health each turn. Taunt helps Misdreavus against more passive Pokemon such as Regirock that may rely on status moves like Toxic as their main form of damage output. (RP) Taunt is able to and help helps against entry hazard setters such as Mesprit by prevent preventing them from getting up Stealth Rock entry hazards. It Taunt is also very useful for preventing Pokemon like Clefairy from recovering health with Soft-Boiled recovery moves as well as stopping the use of Defog from the likes of Skuntank and Altaria. Pain Split gives Misdreavus some a form of recovery which is useful for its longetivity, (AC) increasing Misdreavus's longevity and its ability to punish punishing Pokemon with large HP stats such as Mudsdale and Type: Null. Memento is generally used on more offensive teams and can be used to drop drops the opponents foe's Attack and Special Attack by two stages whilst you faint while Misdreavus faints in the process, allowing for a teammate like Carracosta to come in afterwards and set up. Thunder Wave is another cool useful option that can cripple cripples faster threats that are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Pyroar or Floatzel on the switch as both of these Pokemon are immune to Misdreavus's Will-O-Wisp (if you can think of a relevant Pokemon to replace Pyroar with, then you can keep the "both of these Pokemon are" bit).

Set Details
========

Near maximum HP EVs (see my comment in the set import; all 248 HP EVs does is reduce Missy's HP by 1 E: and see my edited response) as well as being equipped with and an Eviolite allows allow Misdreavus to be as bulky as possible on both the physical and special side physically and specially. Levitate is Misdreavus's only ability but it can be and is helpful against Ground-Types Ground-types such as Mudsdale and Golem as well as choice locked Choice-locked Pokemon like Aggron and Primeape who that often use Earthquake as a strong coverage move. It Levitate also helps by avoiding lets Misdreavus avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, (AC) and Sticky Web.

Usage Tips
========

Misdreavus should be primarily used as a Fighting-Type check to Fighting-type Pokemon such as Primeape and Hitmonchan is because it is immune to their respective STAB moves. One of Misdreavus's other main roles is that of a spinblocker, (AC) as it can switch into common Rapid Spin users such as Hitmonchan and Alolan Sandslash decently well and block the Rapid Spin with thanks to its Ghost-typing Ghost typing. Misdreavus should be careful when the opponent has a Pyroar on their team as Misdreavus can often allow Pyroar to switch in for free since its immune to both Hex and Will-O-Wisp. (Pyroar is banned, if you can think of another relevant Pokemon to write a sentence here than go for it) Be wary of Pokemon such as Eelektross and Audino, (AC) as they often carry Knock Off, (AC) which Misdreavus hates as it compromises its Misdreavus's defenses by half (false, Eviolite is only a 1.5x boost to its defenses, not a 2x) and also takes deals super effective damage from it. Luring in Dark-Type Dark-type Pokemon like Skuntank and burning them with Will-O-Wisp is a big part of Misdreavus's viability, (AC) as this can give teammates such as Bellossom and Musharna good more opportunities to set up easier. Pain Split is usually used when Misdreavus is low on HP whilst while the opposing Pokemon is high on HP is healthy, as this maximises maximizes the recovery you gain Misdreavus gains from using it. Memento is often used when Misdreavus has done its job in the battle already and there is an opportunity to set up with a teammate. Although However, Memento can even be used as soon as Misdreavus comes in, (RC) if there is a guaranteed win condition wincon in the back that just needs an opportunity to safely set up. Thunder Wave should be used against faster Pokemon that do not care about getting burnt burned or are immune to Will-O-Wisp such as Froslass and Pyroar and Floatzel. (Yogi's suggestion) A good idea is to not be too hasty when using this move and surprise the opponent later on in the battle when they are more likely to switch in their offensive threats with a false sense of security. Misdreavus can work very well against bulkier builds such as Stall stall and Balance balance, (AC) since Misdreavus can use Taunt can shut down recovery and utility moves like Roost and Heal Bell whilst while spreading burns with Will-O-Wisp to deal residual damage. Pain Split helps a lot in this matchup, (AC) as staying healthy is key.

===================

**Dark-types**: Strong Dark-type Pokemon such as Absol and Alolan Raticate can still hit Misdreavus really hard with Knock Off despite Misdreavus being able to outspeed them and burn them with Will-O-Wisp.(space)Dark-type Pokemon that can outspeed Misdreavus such as Liepard and Alolan Persian are even more threatening, as they can hit Misdreavus before it can retaliate and also Taunt it to prevent being burned.
