[OVERVIEW]

Ghost is an uncommon but potent attacking type, and Mismagius's Speed and access to Nasty Plot make it a premier offensive Ghost-type in the tier. Coupled with solid neutral coverage and a Z-Move of its choice, this combination lets Mismagius take advantage of the tier's shortage of Pokemon resistant or immune to Ghost to pick apart common balance cores. Its ability Levitate allows it to avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web as well as handily check Nidoqueen and certain variants of Curse Snorlax. Unfortunately, Mismagius's raw strength is rather low, and it is reliant on Nasty Plot-boosted attacks or Z-Moves to do effective damage. Its effectiveness is also compromised by a mediocre defensive stat spread, with low physical bulk and basically zero special resistances, which can make setup or even survival difficult, as it risks being 2HKOed at worst by every invested neutral attack, rendering it especially vulnerable to faster attackers. Furthermore, Mismagius must compete with other setup attackers such as Virizion, Bewear, Meloetta, and Toxicroak, which boast stallbreaking ability while possessing either comparable Speed, greater immediate power, or better defensive utility. However, Mismagius can still make use of its immunities and type coverage to harass most bulky Pokemon such as U-turn Gligar, Registeel, Milotic, physically defensive Mandibuzz, and Mantine.

Moves
========

Nasty Plot doubles Mismagius's Special Attack, allowing its attacks to sting that much harder. Shadow Ball is Mismagius's primary attacking move, hitting a large majority of the tier for at least neutral damage. Thunderbolt makes for a great coverage option, smacking Mandibuzz and Milotic hard, and it also has enough power to OHKO Mega Blastoise and even the most specially defensive Mantine variants after a Nasty Plot boost. It is notable that +2 Thunderbolt followed by +0 Thunderbolt is capable of 2HKOing physically defensive Milotic, meaning Milotic's Haze won't save it. Taunt shuts down recovery and status moves, giving Mismagius an easier time breaking defensive teams and turning mono-attacking Pokemon such as Gligar, Registeel, and RestTalk Snorlax into complete setup fodder. It also stops Stealth Rock and Defog, which can sometimes come in handy for entry hazard control when combined with Mismagius's spinblocking capability. Substitute is another way to take advantage of Pokemon that are reliant on status or have ineffective attacks, exchanging the ability to prevent the use of non-attacking moves for a safety buffer against revenge killing or Pursuit attempts, as well as heavily punishing Pokemon Choice-locked into attacks that Mismagius is immune to.

Set Details
========

Full Speed investment alongside a Timid nature lets Mismagius outspeed as many threats as possible, such as Yanmega, Adamant Zygarde-10%, Shaymin, and Ninetales, as well as Speed tie with opposing Mismagius. 8 Defense EVs allow Mismagius to never get OHKOed by Adamant Donphan's Knock Off. The remaining EVs go into Special Attack to maximize Mismagius's damage output. Ghostium Z grants Mismagius access to Never-Ending Nightmare, providing an immediate source of raw STAB damage. At +2, Never-Ending Nightmare has enough power to OHKO Mega Steelix and bulky Escavalier (though Protect must be scouted), while an unboosted Never-Ending Nightmare can OHKO the likes of Cresselia, Bronzong, Roserade, and bulky Arcanine after Stealth Rock damage roughly half of the time, as well as secure the OHKO on Ninetales after Stealth Rock damage. Electrium Z is another alternative, as it allows Mismagius the potential to OHKO Mega Blastoise, as well as set up directly in front of Milotic and specially defensive Mandibuzz to then OHKO them with +2 Gigavolt Havoc. It also allows Mismagius to OHKO Meloetta and Bewear at +2. Both item options weaken Knock Off as a bonus, though keep in mind that neither will save Mismagius from the stronger Knock Offs coming from Drapion, Sneasel, and Pangoro. Colbur Berry is a fine alternative item choice should the team's Z-Crystal slot be used up. Colbur Berry allows Mismagius to either switch into Mega Blastoise's Dark Pulse and do a chunk with Thunderbolt, making it easier to revenge kill and thus preventing it from using Rapid Spin, or win against Mega Blastoise one-on-one. It also enables Mismagius to better withstand Mandibuzz's Foul Play and helps reduce the threat of Pursuit.

Usage Tips
========

Mismagius's best chance to set up Nasty Plot usually comes in the form of walls that it can scare out or Pokemon that cannot threaten it as it sets up, such as Bronzong, Cresselia, Registeel, Mantine, Gligar, and RestTalk Snorlax. Mismagius can use either Taunt or Substitute to neutralize most of the aforementioned Pokemon to begin breaking through the opponent's defensive backbone. Mismagius is also one of the few offensive Pokemon that can set up on Nidoqueen. Because Mismagius's longevity can be lacking, it would be unwise to hold on to its Z-Move for longer than necessary, and using it at the right moment can be crucial in softening up a threat or forcing a switch while racking up entry hazard damage. While Mismagius doesn't have too much to fear from most Pursuit users due to the threat of its +2 Z-Move, it would be ideal to remove them before Mismagius sets up so that Mismagius doesn't have to use its Z-Move prematurely.

Team Options
========

Mismagius is a great fit on offensive hazard stacking teams where its aforementioned qualities of preserving entry hazards can be a useful asset and it can keep up the pressure with Nasty Plot as well as disrupt the opposition with Taunt or Substitute. Powerful entry hazard setters such as Roserade, Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, Mega Steelix, Golisopod, Mega Glalie, and Araquanid are appealing teammates, as they can help maintain offensive momentum. Mismagius appreciates having teammates that can dispose of bulky Pokemon that withstand Ghost-type attacks such as non-RestTalk Snorlax, Porygon2, Mandibuzz, and Meloetta. Fighting-types such as Bewear, Virizion, and Toxicroak make terrific teammates, as they can put major pressure on bulky Normal-types as well as Mandibuzz and they especially appreciate any entry hazards on the field to make punching holes into the opponent's team easier on them. Opposing Meloetta, on the other hand, warrant a Pursuit user, with Drapion and Escavalier being especially useful for this role. Mismagius is also vulnerable to most faster attackers such as Zygarde-10%, Noivern, and Choice Scarf users like Tyrantrum and Gardevoir, though it should be noted that faster special attackers can't revenge kill a healthy Mismagius and may be susceptible to a boosted attack. Setup sweepers and late-game cleaners, such as Barbaracle, Virizion, Speed Boost Yanmega, Zygarde-10%, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Z-Celebrate Meloetta, and Z-Celebrate Shaymin, greatly appreciate Mismagius breaking the opponent's cores, with some of them even potentially taking advantage of some of the faster attackers that threaten Mismagius.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Mismagius can consider a bulkier Will-O-Wisp + Hex set that takes a slower but still effective approach to wallbreaking while being less vulnerable to slower physical attackers, but it loses much of its worth against more offensive teams compared to Nasty Plot variants. Dazzling Gleam could be used to handle specific targets such as Bewear and Pangoro better than its other moves, but it is relatively unnecessary, as both of them get OHKOed by a +2 Gigavolt Havoc or get chipped into +2 Thunderbolt range after an initial Thunderbolt. Memento is an appealing option to give its teammates such as Barbaracle and Linoone prime setup opportunities, keeping up heavy offensive pressure.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pursuit**: Pursuit is a huge thorn in Mismagius's side, as Mismagius can be prematurely removed from the game should it make a misstep. Pursuit Snorlax is one of the most reliable trappers against Mismagius, while Sneasel's Choice Band-boosted Pursuit has a chance to OHKO Mismagius even if it stays in. Drapion and Escavalier can trap an unboosted Mismagius or one that has already expended its Z-Move but must tread carefully against a +2 Z-Move. While Escavalier can use Protect to help bear the brunt of the +2 Z-Move, it likely still won't be able to Pursuit trap Mismagius, as it risks getting beaten one-on-one. Honchkrow can corner Mismagius with Pursuit and Sucker Punch mind games. Bear in mind, however, that all these Pursuit users bar Snorlax do risk getting tripped up by Colbur Berry sets.

**Bulky Normal-type Pokemon**: Meloetta is a huge annoyance to Mismagius, easily beating non-Electrium Z variants, and Z-Celebrate Meloetta still wins against Electrium Z Mismagius even if it switches into Nasty Plot, as it can survive +2 Gigavolt Havoc, set up, and proceed to outspeed and KO with +1 Psyshock or Shadow Ball. Any Snorlax set that isn't helpless against Ghost-types can be a big roadblock for Mismagius. Porygon2 can usually beat down Mismagius one-on-one, as it outdamages and beats non-Electrium Z Mismagius fairly comfortably while it Recovers and thwarts Mismagius's efforts. It can also cripple Mismagius with status ailments, but the threat of Taunt or Substitute makes this a less reliable response. However, Porygon2 variants that lack Foul Play may risk getting overpowered by Electrium Z Mismagius, especially if it gets Taunted at the wrong moment.

**Faster Attackers**: Mismagius is highly vulnerable to almost every Pokemon faster than it, as it doesn't resist most of their attacks. The likes of Aerodactyl, Zygarde-10%, Swellow, Virizion, and various physical Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum and Flygon have little trouble taking down Mismagius, with Swellow receiving special mention for being able to penetrate Mismagius's Substitute with Scrappy Boomburst, as well as boasting an immunity to Shadow Ball. However, Mismagius does have enough special bulk to survive blows from some special attackers such as Noivern, Salazzle, and Choice Scarf Gardevoir, although without Never-Ending Nightmare or those attackers being weakened beforehand, Mismagius still usually loses this matchup anyway. Priority moves such as Toxicroak's Sucker Punch, Doublade's Shadow Sneak, Golisopod's First Impression, Feraligatr's Aqua Jet, and Mega Abomasnow's Ice Shard can do a large number to Mismagius or outright KO it, but these Pokemon do risk getting KOed by the appropriate Z-Move should they fail to KO, and Toxicroak must also be cautious of the potential Substitute or Colbur Berry.

[OVERVIEW]
- Ghost is an uncommon but potent attacking type, and Mismagius's Speed and access to Nasty Plot makes it a premier offensive Ghost-type in the tier.
- It is also the only notable Ghost-type in the tier that naturally outspeeds Mega Blastoise, which gives it the best chances amongst its brethren of successfully spinblocking it.
- To add to its ability to preserve its team's entry hazards, it has disruptive moves such as Taunt and Memento, both of which block Defog as well as provide utility such as stallbreaking or setup opportunities for its teammates.

okay i don't really agree with these being here, mismagius is not an anti hazard removal pokemon- it cant threaten stoise in any way w/out z tbolt and other defoggers are simply not going to be coming in against a wallbreaker or can just uturn out (gligar). please remove these two bullet points and talk about how the tiers lack of ghost resists coupled with zmove + coverage lets it simply destroy many common balance cores

- Its ability Levitate allows it to avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web, as well as handily check Nidoqueen and certain variants of Curse Snorlax.
- Unfortunately, Mismagius's raw strength is rather low, and is reliant on powered-up attacks from Nasty Plot or boosted Hex for most of its neutral damage.
- It also has a comprimising defensive stat spread, with low physical bulk and basically zero special resistances, which can make setup or even survival difficult as it risks being 2HKOed at worst by every invested neutral attack, which renders it especially vulnerable to faster attackers.
- Mismagius also competes with Hoopa as a stallbreaker and immediate attacker due to Hoopa's far greater power, better coverage, additional STAB, and lower reliance on Z-Moves, but its Speed tier alone makes for a huge advantage. mismagius doesn't have much potential as a stallbreaker, maybe talk about how it has competition w other set up pokemon like virizion

It also stops Defog, furthering Mismagius's role as a Pokemon that prevents entry hazard removal. mismagius role is a wallbreaker, not a pokemon that prevents entry hazard removal, reword the 2nd sentence
- Alternatively, Memento sacrifices Mismagius to give an easy start to its setup sweeper teammates such as Barbaracle, Z-Celebrate Shaymin, Ninetales, and Dragon Dance Zygarde-10%, and can still serve to deny the foe's Defog.

Moves
========
- Will-O-Wisp to cripple physical attackers such as Mega Steelix, Rhyperior, Escavalier, Bewear, and Toxicroak.
- Hex has its power augmented by Will-O-Wisp, and makes for an effective method of pressuring bulky Pokemon such as Milotic and Registeel.
- Taunt shuts down most responses from defensive Pokemon, such as Cresselia and Gligar's Toxic, Snorlax's Rest, Porygon2's Thunder Wave and Recover, and Milotic's Refresh and Recover, heavily limiting their ability to retaliate.
- Pain Split grants Mismagius a form of recovery and combos well with Taunt to harass defensive Pokemon, especially bulky Normal-types such as Snorlax and Porygon2.
- Foul Play allows Mismagius to effectively check Linoone, as well as generally being able to do damage to the Normal-types it checks.

Set Details
========
- Full Speed investment alongside a Timid nature lets Mismagius outspeed as much threats as possible, such as Yanmega, Adamant Zygarde-10%, Mega Glalie, and Shaymin, as well as Speed tie with opposing Mismagius.
- The remaining EVs maximize Mismagius's bulk while minimizing Stealth Rock damage.
- Colbur Berry allows Mismagius to withstand Mega Blastoise's Dark Pulse and help block or deny its Rapid Spin, take Foul Play from Mandibuzz much more comfortably, and survive even the strongest of Knock Offs after burning the target.

Usage Tips
========
- Takes a slower approach to stallbreaking in exchange for better longevity
- Excels as a stallbreaker, threatening bulkier cores with status, Taunt, and boosted Hexes
- Can generally start putting in work if it can switch into defensive Pokemon without being afflicted with status
- Has its place on bulkier or balanced teams due to its Speed tier, stallbreaking prowess, and ability to check dangerous boosting Normal-types such as Linoone, Bewear, and Snorlax.

Team Options
========
- Toxic Spikes users such as Dragalge, Roserade, Nidoqueen, and Forretress are appealing teammates as they can power up Mismagius's Hex without the latter needing to use Will-O-Wisp, and they all offer their own merits. Dragalge can check problematic Fire-types, such as Ninetales and Salazzle, which can absorb Mismagius's Will-O-Wisp and limit its damage output. Roserade, Nidoqueen, and Forretress can offer additional entry hazard support, with the former two providing more offensive pressure while the latter can grant Mismagius safe entry into battle by pivoting with Volt Switch.
- Pokemon that can defend against faster attackers make for good partners. Mega Steelix and Rhyperior can deter a majority of fast Pokemon, such as Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Choice Scarf Tyrantrum, Noivern, Swellow, and Aerodactyl. The likes of Shaymin, Golisopod, and Mega Abomasnow can fend off Zygarde-10% and offer impressive corebreaking ability of their own, with the latter two also boasting powerful priority. Escavalier and Drapion are more specialized partners that serve to Pursuit trap Meloetta, which is unfazed by Mismagius.
- This Mismagius variant's slower acting nature makes it less effective against more offensive teams, so teammates will need to pick up the slack here.

- Pokemon that perform well against offensive teams, such as Choice Scarf Tyrantrum, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Speed Boost Yanmega, Zygarde-10%, Golisopod, Noivern, Barbaracle, and Dragon Dance Feraligatr, are all good candidates.

this isn't getting a set, drop to oo

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
- Dazzling Gleam could be used to handle specific targets such as Bewear and Pangoro better than its other moves, but it is relatively unnecessary as Pangoro takes major damage or gets OHKOed by a +2 Z-Move, while Bewear loses to Will-O-Wisp variants.
- Mismagius may make decent use of Choice Specs due to its Speed tier and STAB Shadow Ball, which is further complemented by a somewhat diverse offensive movepool which includes Mystical Fire, Thunderbolt, Energy Ball, Power Gem, and Icy Wind, as well as access to Trick to cripple bulky Normal-types. However, Choice Specs Mismagius can still lack raw breaking power at times, so it should probably just delegate the role of immediate attacker to the likes of Hoopa while it sweeps the foe with fast, Nasty Plot-boosted Ghost attacks.
- Mismagius can consider Destiny Bond to further harass slower opponents, but it does a good enough job of doing so already, and Memento is usually the favored suicide move anyway.
- Mismagius has access to many other disruptive moves such as Will-O-Wisp, Thunder Wave, Hex, Heal Bell, and Mean Look combined with Perish Song, but Mismagius's lack of physical bulk and general resistances do it little favors at executing these moves consistently.
- Mismagius learns Calm Mind, but the Special Defense boost is not important for it at all due to its lackluster HP and lack of resistances, while the immediate power granted by Nasty Plot is much more crucial for Mismagius's success.

mismagius is not a viable trapper and you yourself explained why calm mind is unviable

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pursuit**: Pursuit is a huge thorn in Mismagius's side, as Mismagius can be prematurely ended should it make a misstep. Sneasel is arguably Mismagius's biggest nemesis in this regard, as Sneasel naturally outspeeds Mismagius and a Choice Band-boosted Pursuit OHKOes it after Stealth Rock damage even without the need for Mismagius to switch, although Colbur Berry Mismagius can survive and neuter Sneasel with Will-O-Wisp. Pursuit Aerodactyl also works as an alternative fast Pursuit user, albeit less effective than Sneasel. In terms of bulkier Pursuit users, Snorlax easily handles Nasty Plot Mismagius, while Drapion and Escavalier can do the same against an unboosted Mismagius, or one that has already expended its Z-Move. All three must also be wary against Will-O-Wisp variants, while Drapion and Escavalier need to tread carefully against a +2 Z-Move; although Escavalier can use Protect to help bear the brunt of the +2 Z-Move, it likely still won't be able to Pursuit trap Mismagius as it risks getting beaten one-on-one. Honchkrow can corner Mismagius with Pursuit and Sucker Punch mindgames, and still does considerable damage with Brave Bird even after being burnt.

please cut this down some, sneasel & aerodactyl are irrelevant and drapion and escavalier can lose to mismagius.

**Bulky Normal-type Pokemon**: Meloetta is a huge annoyance, easily beating any Mismagius set that isn't Nasty Plot + Electrium Z, and Meloetta can still beat that set as long as it doesn't switch into Nasty Plot. Any Snorlax set that isn't helpless against Ghost-types is a big problem for Nasty Plot Mismagius, though they may risk getting the tables turned by Will-O-Wisp Mismagius. Porygon2 can usually beat down Mismagius one-on-one, as it outdamages +2 Mismagius, threatens to Recover and thwart Mismagius's efforts, or can cripple Mismagius with status ailments. However, it dislikes getting burnt and Taunted by the bulkier Mismagius variant, and it can't do much damage back in return.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mismagius is highly vulnerable to almost every Pokemon faster than it, as it doesn't resist nearly any of their attacks. The likes of Aerodactyl, Zygarde-10%, Swellow, Virizion, and various physical Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum and Flygon have little trouble taking down Mismagius. However, Mismagius does have enough special bulk to survive blows from some special attackers, such as Noivern, Salazzle, and Choice Scarf Gardevoir, although without Never-Ending Nightmare or those attackers being weakened beforehand, Mismagius still usually loses this exchange. Priority moves such as Toxicroak's Sucker Punch, Doublade's Shadow Sneak, Feraligatr's Aqua Jet, and Mega Abomasnow's Ice Shard can do a large number if not outright KO Mismagius, but these Pokemon do risk getting crippled by Will-O-Wisp or getting chunked by the appropriate Z-Move should they fail to KO.

please look over this thoroughly during the writeup before sending it to gp, i found many examples of incorrect spelling or grammar throughout

- It also has a comprimising defensive stat spread, with low physical bulk and basically zero special resistances, which can make setup or even survival difficult as it risks being 2HKOed at worst by every invested neutral attack, which renders it especially vulnerable to faster attackers.

- Full Speed investment alongside a Timid nature lets Mismagius outspeed as much threats as possible, such as Yanmega, Adamant Zygarde-10%, Shaymin, and Ninetales, as well as Speed tie with opposing Mismagius.

May I know why Zap Cannon is warranted over Thunderbolt at all? Literally the only advantage I can find for Z-Zap Cannon is a guaranteed chance to OHKO Mega Blastoise (but Z-TBolt already has a 81.3% chance to OHKO), and Thunderbolt has way more worth such as not being reliant on Electrium to work and being usable even after burning the Z-Move, such as being able to 2HKO Meloetta with +2 Gigavolt to TBolt.

People are willing to run Focus Blast as neutral coverage so I assumed Thunder was picking up in popularity for the same reason. I'd at least run it with Electrium.

Edit: Thunder not zap cannon. Oopsies.

Well in any case my point still stands; Tbolt is just universally way more useful even on Electrium, and the disparity between Z-Tbolt and Z-Thunder is even smaller, to the point where I just wouldn't bother.

Thunder gives you a chance to OHKO Drapion without a Z Move so I thought it would be at least worth the mention so we aren't Z reliant to break past that.

+2 252 SpA Mismagius Thunder vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Drapion: 262-309 (93.2 - 109.9%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO

[OVERVIEW]

Ghost is an uncommon but potent attacking type, and Mismagius's Speed and access to Nasty Plot makes it a premier offensive Ghost-type in the tier. Coupled with solid neutral coverage and a Z-Move of its choice, Mismagius can take advantage of the tier's shortage of Pokemon resistant or immune to Ghost to pick apart common balance cores. Its ability Levitate allows it to avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web, as well as handily check Nidoqueen and certain variants of Curse Snorlax. Unfortunately, Mismagius's raw strength is rather low, and is reliant on powered-up attacks from Nasty Plot or Z-Moves for most of its neutral damage. It also has a compromising defensive stat spread, with low physical bulk and basically zero special resistances, which can make setup or even survival difficult as it risks being 2HKOed at worst by every invested neutral attack, rendering it especially vulnerable to faster attackers. Mismagius may also compete with other setup attackers such as Virizion, Bewear, Meloetta, and Toxicroak, which boast stallbreaking ability while possessing either comparable Speed, greater immediate power, or better defensive utility. (Add a point in this overview about how well Mismagius can break classic balance mons like U-Turn Gligar, Registeel, Mantine, Non-Haze Milotic, etc.)

Nasty Plot doubles Mismagius's Special Attack, allowing its Shadow Balls to sting that much harder. Shadow Ball is Mismagius's primary offensive attack, hitting a large majority of the tier for at least neutral damage. Thunderbolt makes for a great coverage option, smacking Mandibuzz and Milotic hard and has enough power to OHKO Mega Blastoise after a Nasty Plot boost. (Add Mantine mentions throughout where applicable) It is notable that +2 Thunderbolt followed by +0 Thunderbolt is capable of 2HKOing physically defensive Milotic, meaning Milotic's Haze won't save it. Taunt shuts down defensive responses such as recovery and status, giving Mismagius an easier time breaking defensive teams and turning mono-attacking Pokemon such as Gligar, Registeel, and RestTalk Snorlax into complete setup fodder. It also stops Stealth Rock and Defog, which can sometimes come in handy for entry hazard control when combined with Mismagius's spinblocking capability. Substitute is another way to take advantage of Pokemon that are reliant on status or have ineffective mono-attacks, exchanging the ability to prevent the use of non-attacking moves for a safety buffer against revenge killing or Pursuit attempts, as well as heavily punishing Pokemon Choice-locked into attacks that Mismagius is immune to.

Set Details
========

Full Speed investment alongside a Timid nature lets Mismagius outspeed as many threats as possible, such as Yanmega, Adamant Zygarde-10%, Shaymin, and Ninetales, as well as Speed tie with opposing Mismagius. 8 Defense EVs allow Mismagius to always survive Adamant Donphan's Knock Off. The remaining EVs go into Special Attack to maximize Mismagius's damage output. Ghostium Z grants Mismagius access to Never-Ending Nightmare, providing an immediate source of raw STAB damage, with +2 having enough power to OHKO Mega Steelix and bulky Escavalier (though Protect must be scouted), whereas +0 can OHKO the likes of Cresselia, Bronzong, and Roserade (Also Arcanine) after Stealth Rock damage roughly half of the time as well as securing the OHKO on Ninetales after Stealth Rock damage. Electrium Z is another alternative, as it allows Mismagius the potential to OHKO Mega Blastoise, as well as set up directly in front of Milotic and specially defensive Mandibuzz to then OHKO them with +2 Gigavolt Havoc. It also allows Mismagius to OHKO Meloetta and Bewear after +2. Both item options weaken Knock Off as a bonus, though neither will save Mismagius from the stronger Knock Offs coming from Pangoro and Choice Band Drapion.

Colbur Berry is a fine alternative item choice should the team's Z-Crystal slot be used up. Colbur Berry allows Mismagius to switch into Mega Blastoise's Dark Pulse and do a chunk with Thunderbolt (making it easier to revenge kill and thus prevent the spin) or win against Mega Blastoise one-on-one. It also enables Mismagius to better withstand Mandibuzz's Foul Play and helps reduce the threat of Pursuit.

Usage Tips
========

Mismagius's best chances to set up Nasty Plot usually come in the form of walls that it can scare out on or have little fear setting up on, such as Bronzong, Cresselia, Registeel, Gligar, and RestTalk Snorlax, most of which it can either use Taunt or Substitute on. Mismagius is also one of the few offensive Pokemon that can set up on Nidoqueen. Mismagius with Taunt can potentially set up on the opponent's defensive Pokemon and break though cores. Memento variants of Mismagius should try to break through as much as it can to pave the way for the team's end-game setup sweeper(s). Because Mismagius's longevity can be lacking, it would be unwise to hold onto its Z-Move for longer than necessary, and can be crucial in softening up a threat or forcing a switch while racking up entry hazard damage. While Mismagius doesn't have too much to fear from most Pursuit users due to the threat of its +2 Z-Move, it would be ideal to remove them before Mismagius sets up so that Mismagius doesn't have to use its Z-Move prematurely.

Team Options
========

Mismagius is a great fit on offensive hazard stacking teams, where its aforementioned qualities of preserving entry hazards can be a useful asset, and it can keep up the pressure with Nasty Plot as well as disruptive moves in Taunt or Substitute. Powerful entry hazard setters such as Roserade, Rhyperior, Nidoqueen, Mega Steelix, Golisopod, Mega Glalie, and Araquanid are appealing teammates as they can help maintain offensive momentum. Mismagius appreciates having teammates that can dispose of bulky Pokemon that withstand Ghost-type attacks, such as non-RestTalk Snorlax, Porygon2, Mandibuzz, and Meloetta. Fighting-types such as Bewear, Virizion, and Toxicroak make terrific teammates, as they can put major pressure on bulky Normal-types as well as Mandibuzz and especially appreciate any entry hazards on the field to make holepunching easier on them. Meloetta on the other hand warrants a Pursuit user as the most effective form of removal, with Drapion and Escavalier being especially useful for this role. Mismagius is also vulnerable to most faster attackers, such as Zygarde-10%, Noivern, and Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum and Gardevoir, though it should be noted that faster special attackers can't revenge kill a healthy Mismagius and may be susceptible to a boosted attack. Setup sweepers or late-game cleaners, such as Barbaracle, Virizion, Speed Boost Yanmega, Zygarde-10%, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Z-Celebrate Meloetta, and Z-Celebrate Shaymin, greatly appreciate Mismagius breaking the opponent's cores, with some of them even potentially taking advantage of some of the faster attacks that threaten Mismagius.

Other Options
=============

Thunder is an option on Electrium Z Mismagius primarily for enabling +2 Mismagius to KO Drapion after Stealth Rock damage without expending its Z-Move, as well as guarantee a OHKO on Mega Blastoise with +0 Gigavolt Havoc. However, Thunder's shaky accuracy heavily reduces its consistency when not using it in conjuction with its Z-Move and is largely outperformed by Thunderbolt against any other targets, including the aforementioned Mega Blastoise. (I'd definitely remove Thunder, Blastoise aren't running a ton of bulk right now and the Drapion calc is extremely niche, not worth running such an inconsistent move when TBolt gets the job done plenty well enough) Mismagius can use a bulkier Will-O-Wisp + Hex set which takes a slower but still effective approach to wallbreaking, but it loses much of its worth against more offensive teams compared to Nasty Plot variants. Dazzling Gleam could be used to handle specific targets such as Bewear and Pangoro better than its other moves, but it is relatively unnecessary as both of them get OHKOed by a +2 Gigavolt Havoc, or get chipped into +2 Thunderbolt range after an initial Thunderbolt. Memento can be an appealing option to give its teammates such as Barbaracle and Linoone prime setup opportunities, keeping up heavy offensive pressure.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Pursuit**: Pursuit is a huge thorn in Mismagius's side, as Mismagius can be prematurely ended should it make a misstep. Pursuit Snorlax is one of the most reliable trappers against Mismagius, while Drapion and Escavalier can do the same against an unboosted Mismagius, or one that has already expended its Z-Move. However, Drapion and Escavalier must tread carefully against a +2 Z-Move, and while Escavalier can use Protect to help bear the brunt of the +2 Z-Move, it likely still won't be able to Pursuit trap Mismagius as it risks getting beaten one-on-one. Honchkrow can corner Mismagius with Pursuit and Sucker Punch mindgames. Bear in mind that all these Pursuit users bar Snorlax do risk getting tripped up by Colbur Berry regardless.

**Bulky Normal-type Pokemon**: Meloetta is a huge annoyance, easily beating non-Electrium Z Mismagius variants, and Z-Celebrate Meloetta still wins against Electrium Z Mismagius even if it switches into Nasty Plot, as it can survive +2 Gigavolt Havoc, set up, and proceed to outspeed and KO with +1 Psyshock or Shadow Ball. Any Snorlax set that isn't helpless against Ghost-types can be a big roadblock for Mismagius. Porygon2 can usually beat down Mismagius one-on-one, as it outdamages and beats non-Electrium Z Mismagius fairly comfortably while it Recovers and thwart Mismagius's efforts. It can also cripple Mismagius with status ailments, but the threat of Taunt or Substitute makes this a less reliable response. However, Porygon2 variants that lack Foul Play may risk getting overpowered by Electrium Z Mismagius, especially if it gets Taunted at the wrong moment.

**Faster Attacks**: Mismagius is highly vulnerable to almost every Pokemon faster than it, as it doesn't resist nearly any of their attacks. The likes of Aerodactyl, Zygarde-10%, Swellow, Virizion, and various physical Choice Scarf users such as Tyrantrum and Flygon have little trouble taking down Mismagius, with Swellow receiving special mention for being able to penetrate Mismagius's Substitute with Scrappy Boomburst as well as boasting an immunity to Shadow Ball. However, Mismagius does have enough special bulk to survive blows from some special attackers, such as Noivern, Salazzle, and Choice Scarf Gardevoir, although without Never-Ending Nightmare or those attackers being weakened beforehand, Mismagius still usually loses this matchup.
Looks good, just sprinkle in some Mantine / Arcanine mentions and you're good to go. QC 3/3.

Ghost is an uncommon but potent attacking type, and Mismagius's Speed and access to Nasty Plot makes (two items mentioned - speed and NP - so it is just "make") it a premier offensive Ghost-type in the tier. Its ability Levitate allows it to avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web, as well as handily check Nidoqueen and certain variants of Curse Snorlax. Unfortunately, Mismagius's raw strength is rather low, and it is reliant on powered-up attacks from Nasty Plot or Z-Moves for most of its neutral damage Nasty Plot-boosted attacks and Z-Moves to do effective damage (This may possibly be a little subjective, but the original sentence was a little bit ambiguous in my opinion. The last bit on "neutral damage" sounds especially weird, given that neither NP nor Z-Moves affect neutrality since type isn't changed. What I imagine you mean is that Mismagius doesn't hit hard without aforementioned boosts.). It also has a compromising defensive stat spread (I am relatively sure the use of "compromising" here is grammatically acceptable, but it did and does sound a bit odd in my opinion. Perhaps a rephrase to "It(s effectiveness) is also compromised by a mediocre defensive stat spread"? - part in parentheses being a possible addition, but not strictly necessary in the rephrase.), with low physical bulk and basically zero special resistances, which can make setup or even survival difficult, (AC) as it risks being 2HKOed at worst by every invested neutral attack, rendering it especially vulnerable to faster attackers. However, Mismagius can still make use of its immunities and type coverage to harass most bulky cores (A terminology nitpick here, but doesn't "core" refer to a group of at least two Pokemon? What you list next, then, are Pokemon but not really cores per se?), (RC) such as U-turn Gligar, Registeel, Milotic, physically defensive Mandibuzz, and Mantine.

Nasty Plot doubles Mismagius's Special Attack, allowing its Shadow Balls (special) attacks (NP does boost Tbolt too, so it's odd not to mention special moves in general. Thunderbolt makes for a great coverage option, smacking Mandibuzz and Milotic hard, (AC) and it also has enough power to OHKO Mega Blastoise and even the most specially defensive Mantine variants after a Nasty Plot boost. It is notable that +2 Thunderbolt followed by +0 Thunderbolt is capable of 2HKOing physically defensive Milotic, meaning Milotic's Haze won't save it. Taunt shuts down defensive responses such as (Referring to them as "defensive responses" doesn't really contribute much, and can be a source of ambiguity given how the game itself has some very peculiar classifications when it comes to offensive/defensive/status moves) recovery and status moves, giving Mismagius an easier time breaking defensive teams and turning mono-attacking Pokemon such as Gligar, Registeel, and RestTalk Snorlax into complete setup fodder. Mismagius can consider a bulkier Will-O-Wisp + Hex set which takes a slower but still effective approach to wallbreaking while being less vulnerable to slower physical attackers, but it loses much of its worth against more offensive teams compared to Nasty Plot variants. Memento is an appealing option to give its teammates such as Barbaracle and Linoone prime setup opportunities, keeping up heavy offensive pressure.

Checks and Counters
===================

Drapion and Escavalier can trap an unboosted Mismagius or one that has already expended its Z-Move, but must tread carefully against a +2 Z-Move. While Escavalier can use Protect to help bear the brunt of the +2 Z-Move, it likely still won't be able to Pursuit trap Mismagius, as it risks getting beaten one-on-one. Honchkrow can corner Mismagius with Pursuit and Sucker Punch mindgames. Bear in mind, however, that all these Pursuit users bar Snorlax do risk getting tripped up by Colbur Berry sets.

Porygon2 can usually beat down Mismagius one-on-one, as it outdamages and beats non-Electrium Z Mismagius fairly comfortably while it Recovers and thwarts (don't miss this) Mismagius's efforts.

Because the above is actually an AM GP check, I believe this is actually GP 1/2.

GP 2/2

Its ability Levitate allows it to avoid entry hazards such as Spikes, Toxic Spikes, and Sticky Web (RC) as well as handily check Nidoqueen and certain variants of Curse Snorlax. Furthermore, Mismagius must also compete with other setup attackers such as Virizion, Bewear, Meloetta, and Toxicroak, which boast stallbreaking ability while possessing either comparable Speed, greater immediate power, or better defensive utility. However, Mismagius can still make use of its immunities and type coverage to harass most bulky Pokemon such as U-turn Gligar, Registeel, Milotic, physically defensive Mandibuzz, and Mantine.

Moves
========

Nasty Plot doubles Mismagius's Special Attack, allowing its attacks to sting that much harder. Shadow Ball is Mismagius's primary offensive attacking move, hitting a large majority of the tier for at least neutral damage.

Set Details
========

Usage Tips
========

Mismagius's best chance to set up Nasty Plot usually comes in the form of walls that it can scare out or Pokemon which that cannot threaten it as it sets up, such as Bronzong, Cresselia, Registeel, Mantine, Gligar, and RestTalk Snorlax.

========

Mismagius is a great fit on offensive hazard stacking teams where its aforementioned qualities of preserving entry hazards can be a useful asset (RC) and it can keep up the pressure with Nasty Plot (RC) as well as disrupt the opposition with Taunt or Substitute.
