Randbats Spotlight Tournament

Welcome to the second bimonthly Spotlight Tour! This iteration will feature the recently elected Mix and Mega Cup format. This tournament is your chance to showcase your skills in [Gen 9] Mix and Mega Cup in a single elimination best-of-3 series.

What is Mix and Mega Cup?

Mix-and-Mega Cup is [Gen 9] Challenge Cup 6v6 at base - every Pokemon in the game's code will be in the format, and they'll all get random legal movesets, abilities, and EVs/IVs. However, we also incorporate the rules of the Mix and Mega OM! Every Pokemon will run a completely random Mega Stone (or Red/Blue Orb), and they will all be able to Mega Evolve (or Primal-ify) to gain the benefits of that Mega Evolution! For example, a Steenee with Altarianite would gain Pixilate, an additional Fairy typing, 40 base Attack, 20 base Defense, and 40 base Special Attack! You can see any Mix-and-Mega combination's output with the command "/mnm pokemonname @ megastonename" Keep in mind, beacuse it's Mix and Mega, that means Tera won't exist!

Prizes

The winner of the Spotlight Tournament will receive the Room Prize Winner rank in the Random Battles room for a month and the possibility to pick a format for the next Randbats Spotlight poll!

How does the tour work?

It’s simple:
1. Contact your opponent on their Smogon wall and decide on a time to battle.
2. Battle each other in the format “[Gen 9] Mix and Mega Cup”. This format can be found under 'Randomized Format Spotlight', at the top of the third column. Alternatively, use /challenge gen9mixandmegacup.
3. The first player to 2 wins advances to the next round.

Note that this tournament will end before the next Randbats Spotlight Ladder commences, i.e., before July 2023. This will determine the pace of the tournament. For this reason, extensions will generally NOT be granted.

Please note:
1. All scheduling attempts MUST be done publicly on Smogon Walls. No other proof of communication will count for act calls regarding scheduling attempts.
2. You MUST post replays of your wins.

We strongly recommend familiarizing yourself with the Smogon Tournament Rules and General Guidelines, if you haven’t already. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact the tour hosts, A Cake Wearing A Hat, Javi here on Smogon.

How do I sign up?

Just post “in”!

The deadline for signups is 11:59 PM GMT-7, on Sunday May 7th, 2023.

Good luck and have fun to everyone taking part!
