Modern Gen 1 is here with its first tour of Gen 9! This is an OU tour hosted by me, R8 and juoean!
Winner takes the entire $50 USD prizepool!

Modern Gen 1 is a mod that adds Gen 1 mechanics to National Dex.
  • Fairy, Steel and Dark are still present, along with the Special Split.
  • Physical/Special Split is not present.
  • All moves and Pokemon have the stats/power/etc of their earliest generation.
  • Some moves and the typechart work slightly differently, more info here.
  • Field effects, items and abilities do not exist.

  • All general tournament rules and guidelines apply.
  • This is a double elimination tournament! All players will play a minimum of two matches.
  • Every round lasts at least 1 week.
  • All matches are bo3 using the gen1customgame using the challenge command on Pokemon Showdown!, not Dragon Heaven or any other side server.
  • Not using the challenge command or using illegal movesets will forfeit the game.
  • All pokemon have the same movesets as in National Dex formats. Banlist can be found here.
  • Replays of all tour games must be posted, only the upload is required.
  • If bans occur during the middle of a round, they will take effect 1 round later.

Some quick reminders:
-This is a BO3, double elim tour
-If you are familiar with RBY mechanics, most mechanics will make sense to you. However future gens stuff can behave a bit weirdly, but if you keep the following in mind you will be fine:
  • The type chart is slightly altered: Dark is not super effective against anything, Fire does not resist Steel or Fairy, Poison does not resist Fairy. Everything else is normal, and Fairy is Physical.
  • Some moves work differently. Fortunately though, the only relevant two are Heal Bell and First Impression: Heal Bell does not remove the speed drop from paralysis. So if you send a Pokemon that was cured while it was not on the field, it stil will have to switch out/boost its speed to cancel the Para speed drop - much like if it cured the status itself with rest. First Impression can work every turn, so it basically is a Bug type Extreme Speed.

If you want to get a better idea of what the metagame looks like, you can read through our thread, and this post go over the mons that are in the council current watchlist. If you want to watch replays, you can easily find some in our discord server (#mg1-ou-replays) or in the last gen8 mg1 tour.

We decided to extend round 1, as playing during Christmas/New Year holidays seemed to not be ideal for a lot of people. The new deadline is Monday 9th January, 1 PM GMT. There will be a reminder post the 3rd January.
