UU Moltres-Galar

:ss/moltres-galar:

[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Moltres is both an offensive and defensive threat in UU. Because its fantastic bulk and defensive typing make it exceptionally hard to take down when screens are set up, Galarian Moltres is a staple on screen-based hyper offense teams, taking advantage of great setup moves in Nasty Plot and Agility. Coupled with STAB attacks that provide near-perfect coverage, Galarian Moltres can be remarkably hard to stop after it sets up. Galarian Moltres can also fill a defensive role by using a RestTalk set that is one of the few Pokemon capable of defeating Psychic-types utilizing the Grassy Seed and Calm Mind combination such as Reuniclus. Such sets can almost singlehandedly defeat stall teams and, against more offensive teams, even function as a decent pivot into Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu if running Hurricane as well as perform as a great status absorber to the omnipresent Amoonguss and Tangrowth. However, having only base 100 Special Attack can prevent Galarian Moltres from breaking through specially bulky Pokemon such as Rhyperior, even when boosted. Galarian Moltres also requires two turns to set up if a Weakness Policy is not used or activated, which leaves it vulnerable to Taunt and status afflictions. Using RestTalk can make Galarian Moltres too passive when first entering a battle, so the set can be challenging to fit onto teams due to how often it invites wallbreakers such as Terrakion, Azumarill, and Kommo-o to come in. Lastly, despite an overall good defensive typing, Galarian Moltres is weak to common priority moves such as Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Mamoswine's Ice Shard.

[SET COMMENTS]

Galarian Moltres is an excellent sweeper that gets multiple setup opportunities on teams that utilize dual screens or Aurora Veil. After using both Nasty Plot and Agility, Galarian Moltres can OHKO most the metagame and outspeeds the entirety of it. The only attacks here needed here are STAB attacks Fiery Wrath and Hurricane, as the only UU-relevant Pokemon they miss out on are Bisharp and the rare Klefki and Diancie. Fiery Wrath's flinch chance also can give Galarian Moltres chances to break through bulkier Pokemon that can tank its attacks such as Chansey. Air Slash is an option over Hurricane if accuracy concerns arise, but beware that it misses out on OHKOs on crucial Pokemon such as Terrakion, even when boosted. Weakness Policy is the optimal item for this set, as the most effective way to take down Galarian Moltres behind screens is a super effective attack, meaning it activates a decent amount of the time and gives Galarian Moltres exceptional power when coupled with Nasty Plot. Using Weakness Policy can also create opportunities for Galarian Moltres to set up in one turn by using Agility as a super effective attack hits it. Heavy-Duty Boots is also a viable item choice, as preventing Stealth Rock damage can make it much more challenging for an opponent to take down Galarian Moltres at all. Heavy-Duty Boots also can give Galarian Moltres a better shot at setting up without screens, as it has enough bulk at full health to set up a respectable amount of the time. Weakness Policy is the far better choice the majority of the time, however, because of how often Galarian Moltres take super effective attacks behind screens.

Double Dance Galarian Moltres fits almost exclusively on screens-based hyper offense teams because its bulk behind screens is crucial to its success. As a result, Grimmsnarl and Alolan Ninetales are virtually essential screen-setting teammates. They have different advantages to them, as the former can almost always guarantee at least one screen thanks to Prankster, while the latter is the quickest Aurora Veil setter in the tier and requires only one turn to essentially set up both screens. Stealth Rock setters on hyper offense teams rack up chip damage on Pokemon that check Galarian Moltres such as Diancie. Krookodile is the most notable one, as it provides Stealth Rock, an Electric-type immunity, Intimidate, and a good enough Speed tier to shut down most opposing entry hazard setters with Taunt. Azelf is an alternative that take advantage of its much better Speed tier to set up Stealth Rock and Taunt at the cost of defensive utility. Physical sweepers that fit well on hyper offense teams and can break through or soften up specially bulky Pokemon able to halt a Galarian Moltres sweep—such as Chansey and Nihilego—are appreciated as partners. Belly Drum Azumarill can fill this role; in return, Galarian Moltres has a great matchup against Grass-types that trouble Azumarill. Swords Dance Terrakion and Swords Dance Scizor are also decent picks on hyper offense teams that can break through special tanks.

name: Tank
move 1: Fiery Wrath
move 2: Nasty Plot / Hurricane
move 3: Rest
move 4: Sleep Talk
item: Heavy-Duty Boots
ability: Berserk
nature: Calm
evs: 248 HP / 160 SpD / 100 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

RestTalk Galarian Moltres can provide a lot of utility to a team by breaking through Grassy Seed Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro. This set also has an exceptional matchup versus stall teams and is still able to check many offensive Pokemon such as Alakazam. Fiery Wrath is the main attack on this set, as it has acceptable coverage and is reliable. Nasty Plot is the optimal choice for the second slot, as it provides the necessary power to overwhelm the aforementioned Psychic-types; without it, Galarian Moltres loses to these Pokemon. Nasty Plot also prevents Galarian Moltres from being too passive when first entering the battle. If the team has another answer for Grassy Seed Psychic-types, Hurricane is an option for more offensive longevity, especially when facing stall teams that Galarian Moltres succeeds against. Hurricane also prevents Terrakion from freely switching into Fiery Wrath and getting a boost to its Attack. Rest and Sleep Talk allow Galarian Moltres to effectively stallbreak by healing status and accruing Berserk boosts, with the latter being what primarily enables it to stallbreak without Nasty Plot. The Speed EVs let Galarian Moltres outspeed maximum Speed Primarina and Adamant Bisharp in a pinch, while the rest of the EVs with a Calm nature go towards special bulk to help Galarian Moltres against Grassy Seed users and generally check special attackers such as Nidoqueen and special Salamence. Maximum HP also means Galarian Moltres can check Krookodile, although this can lead to Galarian Moltres losing its item to Knock Off and failing to properly check other special threats due to Stealth Rock damage. Heavy-Duty Boots prevents Galarian Moltres from taking Stealth Rock damage, easing the need for it to use Rest often; this also improves its matchup against faster teams because it tends to switch in more against them.

This set can be challenging to fit onto teams because it has a very unique role most teams don't require and is vulnerable to powerful wallbreakers such as Terrakion and Azumarill. It fares best on bulky offense and balance builds, however. Tapu Bulu pairs well because this set effectively counters popular Grass-types that Tapu Bulu may struggle with such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Tapu Bulu also appreciates Galarian Moltres's ability to check specially based Salamence. In return, Tapu Bulu provides a good matchup against Zeraora, Azumarill, and Lycanroc-D. Azumarill is a helpful partner to this set, as it is able to break through just about any special wall that can threaten Galarian Moltres, particularly Rhyperior and the rare Diancie. Galarian Moltres can help Azumarill by providing an ideal matchup against Amoonguss and Tangrowth. Nidoqueen can check Zeraora and Fairy-types as well as set Toxic Spikes to discourage Pokemon that resist Fiery Wrath or check Galarian Moltres, such as Kommo-o and Terrakion, from switching in. Jirachi is a solid teammate as well, as it handles Nihilego, SubRoost Kyurem, and Diancie with ease and has exemplary defensive synergy with Galarian Moltres. Jirachi also provides general utility by being able to set up Stealth Rock and pivot out to Galarian Moltres with U-turn. Zeraora appreciates Galarian Moltres's ability to dismantle stall teams, which it struggles heavily against. In return, it functions as a passable pivot to Thundurus-T and can invite Grassy Seed users to switch in so Galarian Moltres can handle them. Chansey is another special tank that can pair with this set, as it is a superb Thundurus, Choice Specs Kyurem, and Nihilego switch-in. Palossand checks Terrakion, which is a massive threat to this set. Colbur Berry Palossand can also check Zeraora and prevent it from grabbing momentum with Volt Switch.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Taunt is a passable option on either set, but it has a huge opportunity cost over any of the listed moves. Forgoing a STAB or boosting move for Substitute is an option on the Double Dance set to give Galarian Moltres a better matchup against offensive teams, and it can even function decently alongside Salac Berry or Petaya Berry depending on which boosting move is being used, but overall is less reliable. A pivot set with Heavy-Duty Boots and U-turn can check many Pokemon as well as grab momentum for your team, but it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to power.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Rhyperior pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres; Terrakion easily OHKOes it with Stone Edge and can boost its Attack stat by switching into Fiery Wrath, Lycanroc-D can halt a sweep with priority Accelerock, and Rhyperior can tank a hit and wear Moltres down with Rock Blast or Toxic. Nihilego and Diancie also serve as great checks, as the former can take any boosted attack and retaliate with a Rock-type STAB attack, while the latter flat out counters Moltres.

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill and Primarina are capable of OHKOing either Galarian Moltres set. Bulkier variants of Primarina can take boosted Hurricane to boot. Diancie can hit Moltres hard with Diamond Storm and shrug off any attack Galarian Moltres tries to hit it with.

**Taunt**: If Galarian Moltres has Taunt used on it, it will be unable to set up with its offensive set or recover and attack with Sleep Talk on its bulky set. Krookodile and Mew are common Taunt users that can outspeed Galarian Moltres and prevent it from using setup or recovery moves. Most Taunt users can usually only proactively halt Galarian Moltres from making progress, however, as either set can do a lot of damage to them when boosted.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Zeraora and Thundurus OHKO or heavily dent Galarian Moltres. This is especially concerning to Galarian Moltres's bulky set, as they are some of the few Pokemon that can reliably outspeed and break through it. Most Electric-types can also switch into unboosted Galarian Moltres, especially the RestTalk set, and force it out. However, when behind screens, significant prior damage is often required for Electric-types to OHKO Galarian Moltres. If they don't OHKO Galarian Moltres, they may simply activate a Weakness Policy and propagate a sweep.

**Priority**: Powerful priority moves, with the exception of Sucker Punch, are some of the quickest ways to halt a Galarian Moltres's sweep once screens have faded away. Most notably, Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Mamoswine's Ice Shard take away well over half of Galarian Moltres's HP outside of screens. Other priority users, such as Choice Band Azumarill and Choice Band Scizor, take away over a third of Galarian Moltres's HP when screens are no longer in play.

[OVERVIEW]

- Staple on most HO screens specifically teams because of its great STABs (STABs only resisted by two three UU relevant mons, Bisharp, Diancie, and the rarer Klefki, and the former takes a ton from +2 Hurricane), remarkable bulk in screens, solid ability that activates a decent amount of the time, and excellent setup moves (Nasty Plot and Agility)
- solid bulk, which becomes unreal after screens, helps it set up more reliably you mentioned this already
- Bar Chansey and Diancie at +2 it is near unstoppable because of its great bulk/typing (offering a sucker punch resistance too) that makes it hard to stop a sweep, especially behind screens
- High BP attacks (90 and 110) ensure that at +2 it hits like a truck
- Also can run a resttalk set to give stall a ridiculously hard time and offers a good pivot to common threats such as Kommo-o, Tapu Bulu, Krookodile, and Latias while being a Tangrowth and Amoong switchin because it can sleep absorb and hit back with Hurricane also notably one of the few pokemon that actually boosts up and beats grassy seed users like latias, galarian slowbro and reuniclus
- Berserk + Rest can patch up passivity issues on bulky set
- While it is great as a sweeper, it still usually needs two turns to set up often needs a berserk boost too
- Hurricane miss chance can be annoying, but Air Slash can be too weak even at +2
- At the end of the day still only has base 100 special attack, so unboosted it falls short of sweeping on double dance and can be weak until a berserk boost on resttalk it also falls short p often even at +2 on its double dance set bc a lot of common pokemon like celesteela, primarina etc can just stomach a +2 hit from full
- Resttalk can be unreliable and even passive at times without a berserk boost gonna have you change the set for resttalk which nullifies this point
- Resttalk is ridiculously hard to fit on to teams
- Still overall a very potent sweeper with many setup opportunities
- Resttalk set while more team specific has a fantastic matchup against stall and checks a decent amount of mons alrdy said this
- Should always be looked at when building a HO team

Paragraph 1

- The Speed EVs outspeed the (albeit rare) Choice Scarf Latias after an Agility. Special Attack is maxed out to hit 656 points after a Nasty Plot, while the rest of the EVs is put into HP to bolster Galartres' already solid bulk
- Nasty Plot and Agility are the moves that make Galartres as potent as it is for a sweeper, as after using each one once Galartres outspeeds and OHKOs most of the metagame
- STABs are the only attacks on here as they cover most the metagame
- Air Slash is an option over Hurricane but misses significantly more OHKOs such as?
- Heavy-Duty boots is an option for the item here because Galartres is so hard to break behind screens so any chip prevention helps
- A weakness policy is an option as behind screens the quickest way to break moltres is a super effective attack, meaning it actually activates a pretty decent amount of games and is terrifying to face it's notably a lot better at breaking fat with a WP boost bc even shit like chansey and celesteela just can't wall +4 moltres, these types of HO teams will also often employ something like Krookodile or Grimmsnarl that prevents opposing rocks from going up so boots are less necessary

Paragraph 2

- Fits best on hyper offense teams, more specifically screen and veil teams because a big part of what makes galartres a successful double dance sweeper is its remarkable bulk behind screens and the typing to take advantage of it
- As a result of this Grimmsnarl and Ninetales-Alola are just as good as essential teammates because of Prankster screens and quickest veil setter respectively
- Hazard setters on screen teams - a notable one being Krookodile because of the electric immunity it provides for the brief period of time it's being played - are also essential setters. Azelf can set up rocks and even prevent hazard set up with Taunt in case you're using WP Moltres to prevent 25% chip mention that krook can do this too, there aren't too many rockers that outspeed it so
- Any physical sweeper that fits on hyper offense teams that can set up prior to Moltres that is able to soften up mons that can halt a moltres sweep (or at least weaken it enough) in an emergency - such as Chansey, Nihilego, and even the rarer Rhyperior - are appreciated. As a result the best mon here is BD azumarill as it fits on HO teams and takes care of the aforementioned genre of mons also appreciates moltres blanking grasses outside of sleep move
- CM Latias is a decent fit on HO that breaks through some pokemon moltres struggles with like Chansey

Paragraph 1

- Fiery Wrath and Hurricane are STABs with decent power

- Resttalk is used to refuel berserk boosts and effectively stallbreak because stall can't status it i mean it can but it can't rely on status to wear it down, just something to be aware of when writing up, also the only form of recovery galartres gets and with this lets it function as a pivot against more offensive and faster paced teams
- On top of it sleep talk doesn't deplete PP letting it stay in the game for extended periods of time mostly unnecessary info and also misleading/awkward bc sleep talk depletes its own pp so it just reads weirdly
- Resttalk's berserk boosts eventually make moltres too overwhelming for stall
- The Speed EVs outspeed max speed prim and adamant bisharp in a pinch not sure if this is needed anymore since hurricane's gone but maybe?
- The SpA EVs OHKO a band scizor after rocks with a berserk boost when using hurricane
- The rest of the EVs with a calm nature go into bulk to allow Moltres to check things better like what?
- HDB is a necessary item because against most offensive oriented teams you will be pivoting a lot

Paragraph 2

- Can definitely be hard to fit onto a team but fits best on bulky offense and balance builds
- Tapu Bulu makes for a good partner because Moltres is a good response to Amoonguss and Tangrowth which can be problems for Tapu Bulu. In return Tapu Bulu checks Azumarill and can dent Hatt hatt's not really a good check now that np is primary slash so i'd reword to reflect that, bulu also appreciates molt's ability to check rachi and latias.
- Coincidentally Azumarill is a good partner too because it benefits from Moltres checking the aforementioned Amoonguss and Tangrowth
- Nidoqueen is a good partner because it checks zeraora and provides an immediate offensive presence. Nidoqueen also checks fairy types that are a pain for Moltres
- Jirachi handles Hatt idk something like nihilego pretty solidly and has exemplary defensive synergy with moltres, can provide a ton of utility like u-turn to molt and set up rocks
- Zera appreciates moltres as a partner because against any stall team it's just about dead weight outside of using knock off it's largely because zera struggles rlly hard with grassy seed users which is mostly what this set is for but it is quite good against stall too obv
- Chansey makes a good partner as well because it can function as a thundurus, kyurem, and nihilego switchin
- Gyarados appreciates Moltres' ability to trouble Tangrowth and Amoonguss (as well as Quagsire if it lacks Power Whip) because at full health they can even stop a +2 Gyara with sleep powder/spore doesn't rlly fit on the types of teams this set fits on
- Palossand is a good partner bc it checks terrak, pretty necessary since you're a sitting duck vs that and even give it free boosts

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Choice Specs is actually a pretty strong attacker but for the most part is outclassed by Latias and also it sucks to take rocks on a mon that needs its good bulk to function well
- Taunt on paper is good but it struggles to justify a spot over any of the listed moves
- U-turn + boots makes it a cool pivot but it's not very strong
- Is very lacking in any OO

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion, Lycanroc-Dusk, and Rhyperior all pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres. The aforementioned rock-types pose a threat in various ways; Terrakion easily OHKOes with Stone Edge and can pivot into Fiery Wrath, Lycanroc can halt a sweep with priority Accelerock as well as do a lot of damage with either Close Combat or the rarer Stone Edge, and Rhyperior can tank a hit and wear Moltres down with Rock Blast or Toxic. Nihilego deserves a mention as well as it can tank a boosted hit and dent Galarian Moltres in return. deserves way more than just a mention since it's basically the most splashable "counter" moltres has. diancie's also the best answer in the game so.

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill, Primarina, and Hatterene pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres as the former 2HKO can potentially OHKO with choice items while the latter can take a hit and recover a good portion of it with Draining Kiss. hatt can just straight up die at +2 and also draining kiss rly doesn't do shit since it's so weak and molt's so bulky. not even a check tbh

**Taunt**: Taunt is extremely concerning for Galarian Moltres because both of its sets rely on moves other than attacks. If Galarian Moltres has Taunt used on it, it will be unable to set up on its offensive set or recover and attack with Sleep Talk on its bulky set. list krook and mew as the main taunt users that gmolt would try to set up on

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Zeraora and both Thundurus forms, all very viable electric-types in UU, OHKO or heavily dent Galarian Moltres with ease. This is especially concerning on Galarian Moltres' bulky set, as they are one of a few Pokemon that can be reliably depended upon to outspeed and break through it.

Paragraph 1

- This set is very good at breaking through Grassy Seed Psychic types such as Galarian Slowbro, Latias, and Reuniclus. It also has an amazing matchup against stall and can just about 6-0 it
- Resttalk is used to refuel berserk boosts and effectively stallbreak because it can heal up status from stall, also the only form of recovery galartres gets and with this lets it function as a pivot against more offensive and faster paced teams
- Nasty Plot is the primary option for the second slot as it enables Galarian Moltres to beat grassy seed psychic types such as Reuniclus and still lets Galartres stallbreak effectively
- Hurricane is an option too if more longevity in terms of PP and coverage is desired, although you will be relying on Berserk for boosts
- Resttalk's berserk boosts can eventually help make moltres too overwhelming for stall in any case
- The Speed EVs outspeed max speed primarina and bisharp in a pinch
- The rest of the EVs with a calm nature go into bulk to allow Moltres to check things better such as Latias, Nidoqueen, Alakazam, HDB special mence, and most importantly grassy seed users such as Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus

Tapu Bulu also appreciates Moltres' ability to check Jirachi and Latias. In return Tapu Bulu checks Azumarill and Lycanroc.
- Coincidentally Azumarill is a good partner too because it benefits from Moltres checking the aforementioned Amoonguss and Tangrowth. In return it takes care of Diancie
- Nidoqueen is a good partner because it checks zeraora and provides an immediate offensive presence. Nidoqueen also checks fairy types that are a pain for Moltres
- Jirachi handles Nihilego and Diancie pretty solidly and has exemplary defensive synergy with moltres, can provide a ton of utility like u-turn to molt and set up rocks
- Zera appreciates moltres as a partner because Zeraora has serious struggles against any grassy seed user, which Moltres has a fantastic matchup against. Zeraora also appreciates Moltres as against any stall team Zeraora is just about dead weight outside of using knock off. Zera in return is a passable pivot against Thundurus
- Chansey makes a good partner as well because it can function as a thundurus, kyurem, and nihilego switchin
- Palossand checks Terrakion which is a horrible matchup for this set as it can OHKO Moltres and can even pivot into Fiery Wrath for a +1 boost to its Attack

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

- Choice Specs is actually a pretty strong attacker but for the most part is outclassed by Latias. Furthermore, Galarian Moltres being vulnerable to Stealth Rock damage when using Specs is disappointing considering a big part of what makes Galarian Moltres good is its bulk
- Taunt on paper is good but it struggles to justify a spot over any of the listed moves
- Moltres can function as a pivot with U-turn and boots but leaves a lot to be desired in the power department
- Is very lacking in any OO

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion, Lycanroc-Dusk, and Rhyperior all pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres. The aforementioned rock-types pose a threat in various ways; Terrakion easily OHKOes with Stone Edge and can boost its Attack stat by switching into a Fiery Wrath, Lycanroc can halt a sweep with priority Accelerock as well as do a lot of damage with either Close Combat or the rarer Stone Edge, and Rhyperior can tank a hit and wear Moltres down with Rock Blast or Toxic. Nihilego and Diancie also serve as great checks, as the former can take any boosted attack and retaliate with a Rock-type STAB while the latter flat out counters Moltres by virtue of its typing and bulk.

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill and Primarina pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres as both are capable of OHKOing either set. Bulkier variants of Primarina also can take a boosted Hurricane to boot. Diancie once again is notable as a Fairy-type because it can hit Moltres hard with Diamond Storm and brush off any attack Galarian Moltres tries to hit it with.

**Taunt**: Taunt is extremely concerning for Galarian Moltres because both of its sets rely on moves other than attacks. If Galarian Moltres has Taunt used on it, it will be unable to set up on its offensive set or recover and attack with Sleep Talk on its bulky set. Krookodile and Mew are both common Taunt users that can outspeed Galarian Moltres and prevent it from using setup or recovery moves.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Zeraora and both Thundurus forms OHKO or heavily dent Galarian Moltres with ease. This is especially concerning on Galarian Moltres' bulky set, as they are one of a few Pokemon that can be reliably depended upon to outspeed and break through it.

priority mention would be good here, it resists sucker but CB Jet / Ice Shard / CB Bullet Punch etc are all good ways at taking this thing down once screens are out of the way

[OVERVIEW]

- Staple on most HO hyper offense teams (specifically screens and veil teams) veil is a type of screens so I don't think you really need to differentiate the two. because of its great STABs (STABs only resisted by three UU relevant mons, Bisharp, Diancie, and the rarer Klefki, and the former takes a ton from +2 Hurricane), Diancie is also rare so you may as well clump that with Klefki remarkable bulk in screens, solid ability that activates a decent amount of the time, and excellent setup moves (Nasty Plot and Agility)
- Bar Chansey and Diancie at +2 it is near unstoppable because of its great bulk/typing (offering a sucker punch resistance too) that makes it hard to stop a sweep, especially behind screens
- High BP attacks (90 and 110) ensure that at +2 it hits like a truck Something worth noting is the flinch chance Fiery Wrath provides, as it can fish for it against bulkier foes like Chansey
- Also can run a resttalk set to give stall a ridiculously hard time and offers a good pivot to common threats such as Kommo-o, Tapu Bulu, Krookodile, and Latias while being a Tangrowth and Amoong switchin because it can sleep absorb (if using Hurricane can hit back hard too).
- Impressively, one of the few Pokemon that can beat grassy seed users such as Latias, Reuniclus, and Galarian Slowbro when using nasty plot + resttalk
- Berserk + Rest can patch up passivity issues on bulky set
- While it is great as a sweeper, it still usually needs two turns to set up and oftentimes needs a Berserk boost too
- Hurricane miss chance can be annoying, but Air Slash can be too weak even at +2
- At the end of the day still only has base 100 special attack, so unboosted it falls short of sweeping on double dance and can be weak until a berserk boost on resttalk. Even at +2, can fall short of OHKOing Pokemon such as bulky Primarina
- Despite a sucker punch resistance, is still weak to common priority moves in Mamoswine Ice Shard and Lycanroc Accelerock
- Resttalk is ridiculously hard to fit on to teams explain why
- Still overall a very potent sweeper with many setup opportunities
- Should always be looked at when building a HO team
Last two points are filler

Paragraph 1

- The Speed EVs outspeed the (albeit rare) Choice Scarf Latias after an Agility. Special Attack is maxed out, while the rest of the EVs is put into HP to bolster Galartres' already solid bulk Move this to the end of this para
- Nasty Plot and Agility are the moves that make Galartres as potent as it is for a sweeper, as after using each one once Galartres outspeeds and OHKOs most of the metagame
- STABs are the only attacks on here as they cover most the metagame
- Air Slash is an option over Hurricane but misses significantly more OHKOs such as on Terrakion and Azumarill at +2
- A Weakness Policy is the main choice for item as behind screens the quickest way to break moltres is a super effective attack, meaning it actually activates a pretty decent amount of games and is terrifying to face. Weakness Policy also gives Moltres a much better matchup against bulkier and stall teams because Pokemon such as Celesteela fall to a +4 Fiery Wrath
- Heavy-Duty Boots is an option for the item here because Galartres is extremely hard to break behind screens so any chip prevention helps

Paragraph 2

- Fits best on hyper offense teams, more specifically screen and veil teams because a big part of what makes galartres a successful double dance sweeper is its remarkable bulk behind screens and the typing to take advantage of it
- As a result of this Grimmsnarl and Alolan Ninetales Ninetales-Alola are just as good as essential teammates because of Prankster screens and quickest veil setter respectively
- Hazard setters on screen teams - a notable one being Krookodile because of the electric immunity it provides for the brief period of time it's being played - are also essential setters. Krookodile can set up rocks and even prevent hazard set up with Taunt in case you're using WP Moltres to prevent 25% chip (this is also helped by the fact that it outspeeds most Stealth Rock users). Azelf can do the same as well with a higher speed tier at the cost of an electric immunity and Intimidate's utility.
As a result the best mon here is BD azumarill as it fits on HO teams and takes care of the aforementioned genre of mons. In return, Moltres can handle grass-types for azumarill (with the exception of falling asleep because of Sleep Powder and Spore)
- CM Latias is a decent fit on HO that breaks through some pokemon moltres struggles with like Chansey

Defo more physical partners you could add like SD Terrakion and Scizor, which would be nice to slide in somewhere.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1

- This set is very good at breaking through Grassy Seed Psychic-types such as Galarian Slowbro, Latias, and Reuniclus. It also has an amazing matchup against stall and can just about 6-0 it
- Resttalk is used to refuel berserk boosts and effectively stallbreak because it can heal up status from stall, also the only form of recovery galartres gets and with this lets it function as a pivot against more offensive and faster paced teams
- Nasty Plot is the primary option for the second slot as it enables Galarian Moltres to beat grassy seed psychic types Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and still lets Galartres stallbreak effectively
- Hurricane is an option too if more longevity in terms of PP and coverage is desired, although you will be relying on Berserk for boosts This also lets it threaten Terrakion rather than just letting it in for free.
- Resttalk's berserk boosts can eventually help make moltres too overwhelming for stall in any case
You mentioned this already
- The Speed EVs outspeed max speed primarina and bisharp in a pinch
- The rest of the EVs with a calm nature go into bulk to allow Moltres to check things better such as Latias, Nidoqueen, Alakazam, HDB special mence, and most importantly grassy seed users such as Galarian Slowbro and Reuniclus
- HDB is a necessary item because against most offensive oriented teams you will be pivoting a lot Just say it removes the SR weakness, which means it isn't forced to use Rest so often. You can then lead into how this makes it less dead weight vs the offense matchup.

Paragraph 2

- Can definitely be hard to fit onto a team but fits best on bulky offense and balance builds
- Tapu Bulu makes for a good partner because Moltres is a good response to Amoonguss and Tangrowth which can be problems for Tapu Bulu.
In return it takes care of Diancie Azumarill breaks through every special wall that could handle it, so just say that
- Nidoqueen is a good partner because it checks zeraora and provides an immediate offensive presence. Nidoqueen also checks fairy types that are a pain for Moltres Nidoqueen can also provide Toxic Spikes, making it easier to run through bulkier teams.

=============

Substitute is probably worth a mention. It is similar to Taunt but helps vs the offense matchup while avoiding status.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Priority**: Powerful priority moves, with the exception of Sucker Punch, are one of the quickest ways to halt a Galarian Moltres' sweep once screens have faded away. Most notably, Lycanroc's Accelerock and Mamoswine's Ice Shard both can take away well over half of Galarian Moltres's HP outside of screens. Other priority users, such as Choice Band Azumarill and Choice Band Scizor, both can take away over a third of Galarian Moltres' HP when screens are no longer in play.

You now need to write this up but many things I spotted that you need to do in case you miss them:
  • Pokemon names need to be spelled out fully and capitalized. I saw a few shortened names like Zera and Amoong, which need to be written fully. You wrote Moltres and Lycanroc a few times but it should be Galarian Moltres and Lycanroc-D because those are different Pokemon.
  • Items and natures should be capatilized. You did this a few times with Grassy Seed. I saw it one or two times with detailing the nature of the Pokemon. e.g. Calm not calm.
  • A lot of ( ) or / or -, make sure you do full sentences.

Twilight my bad on some of the grammatical errors; those were all things when I was writing in the past as well so I'm unsure how I brushed over them. Will be sure to keep an eye out in the future

[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Moltres is both an offensive and defensive threat in UU. Because its fantastic bulk and defensive typing make it exceptionally hard to take down when screens are set up, Galarian Moltres finds itself as a staple on screen-based hyper offense teams. When utilizing the aforementioned support from screens, Galarian Moltres can take advantage of its access to great setup moves in Nasty Plot and Agility to become an extremely effective sweeper. Coupled with STABs that provide near-perfect coverage, Galarian Moltres can be remarkably hard to stop after it sets up. Galarian Moltres can also fill a defensive role by using a RestTalk set that allows it to be one of the few Pokemon capable of defeating Psychic-types utilizing the Grassy Seed and Calm Mind combination such as Latias. RestTalk sets can almost singlehandedly defeat stall teams and function as a decent pivot into Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu when facing more offensive-based teams; twould be careful here as Moltres cant actually check stuff like Bulu / Clanger if it is a Nasty Plot set, since fiery wrath with 0 spa isn't scratching them, would be a little more specific here.estTalk sets also counter the omnipresent Amoonguss and Tangrowth. well yes but taking Knock Off from tang is kinda undesirable, would focus specifically on the fact here that they act as a great status absorber w.r.t amoong/tang. Galarian Moltres does posess a few flaws, however. Having only base 100 Special Attack can halt Galarian Moltres from breaking through specially bulky Pokemon such as Rhyperior, even when boosted. Galarian Moltres also requires two turns to set up, which leaves it vulnerable to Taunt and status afflictions. It doesn't necessarily need two turns to set up per se really for the screens set, weakness policy often easily lets you just use an agility and take advantage of the free +3 from WP + berserk. RestTalk sets can be two passive when first entering a battle, and are challenging to fit onto teams due to its unique role. This reads a little weirdly? like you dont really explain the actual reason its hard to fit onto teams, which often has more to do with these NP + rest talk sets being extremely vulnerable to common deadly wallbreakers like Terrakion, Kommo-o, and Azumarill, they also lack a lot of initial power with no investment which makes checks like Zeraora and Mamoswine able to switch in hard pretty comfortably. Lastly, despite a good defensive typing, Galarian Moltres is still weak to common priority moves such as Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Mamoswine's Ice Shard.

[SET COMMENTS]

Thanks to the multiple setup opportunities it gets when behind screens, Galarian Moltres is an excellent sweeper on teams that utilize dual screens or Aurora Veil. Nasty Plot and Agility are the setup moves that make Galarian Moltres a potent sweeper; after using both, Galarian Moltres outspeeds and OHKOes most of the metagame. it outspeeds every scarfer with the spread we have, this sort of reads like there's things it doesn't outspeed ngl. The only attacks here needed here are STAB attacks Fiery Wrath and Hurricane, as they have outstanding coverage which is evidenced by the fact the only UU relevant Pokemon they miss out on are Bisharp, the rare Klefki, and the rarer Diancie. Diancie is probably abit more common than Klefki realistically atm, but ur better off just saying and the rare Klefki and Diancie instead imo, since its less suspect to usage fluctuations on lower usage mons. These attacks also benefit from having high base power, helping Galarian Moltres hit very hard when boosted. Fiery Wrath's flinch chance also can give Galarian Moltres chances to break through bulkier Pokemon that can tank its attacks such as Chansey. Air Slash is an option over Hurricane if accuracy concerns arise, but beware it is significantly weaker and when boosted still misses out on OHKOs on crucial Pokemon such as Terrakion. Weakness Policy is the most optimal item for this set as the most effective way for an opponent to take down Galarian Moltres behind screens is a super effective attack, meaning it activates a decent amount of the time and gives Galarian Moltres exceptional power when coupled with Nasty Plot. You can also mention that it gives it more opportunities to set up too and lets you set up in a single turn often, as options like using Agility vs a Zeraora when behind screens suddenly become strong options, forcing it to either hard switch out or give you +2 speed and either +3 spa/+2spa depending on plasma fists vs volt switch. Heavy-Duty Boots are also a viable item choice as preventing Stealth Rock damage can make it much more challenging for an opponent to take down Galarian Moltres at all. Is worth explaining when you might want to use this over Weakness Policy, as weakness policy is a huge part of what makes Goltres so scary on screens. The EV spread enables Galarian Moltres to outspeed the albeit rare Choice Scarf Latias after an Agility while adding a bit to its bulk and maxing out its Special Attack.

Double Dance Galarian Moltres fits almost exclusively on screen-based hyper offense teams because a large part of what makes Galarian Moltres a successful sweeper is its incredible bulk when behind screens. As a result of this, Grimmsnarl or Alolan Ninetales are virtually essential teammates because of their screen setting capabilities. They both have different advantages to them, as the former can almost always guarantee at least one layer of screens thanks to Prankster, while the latter is the quickest Aurora Veil setter in the tier and requires only one turn. Common Stealth Rock setters on hyper offense teams are also crucial teammates putting important chip damage on checks like Diancie and Chansey. Krookodile is the most notable one as it provides Stealth Rock, an Electric-type immunity, Intimidate, and a good enough Speed tier to Taunt most other hazard setters. Azelf is an alternative to Krookodile, as it can take advantage of its much better Speed tier to set up Stealth Rock and Taunt at the cost of an Electric-type immunity as well as the utility of Intimidate. Physical sweepers who fit well on hyper offense teams that can break through or soften up specially bulky Pokemon able to halt a Galarian Moltres sweep - such as Chansey and Nihilego - are appreciated as partners. Belly Drum Azumarill can fill this role as it eliminates these Pokemon while being a good fit on hyper offense teams; in return, Galarian Moltres has a great matchup against Grass-types that trouble Azumarill. Swords Dance Terrakion and Swords Dance Scizor are also decent picks on hyper offense teams that can break through special tanks. Calm Mind Latias also works well on hyper offense teams and can dent Chansey thanks to Psyshock. worth mentioning Diancie here too as something lati pressures, and maybe word this to more specifically state that these Pokemon tend to struggle to reliably deal with both during the same match, making it easy for the other to clear up, since this is a bit more of a 2 way thing. Tbh this synergy is quite big so i'd probably mention it a bit earlier.

[SET COMMENTS]

RestTalk Galarian Moltres can provide a lot of utility to a team by virtue of being able to break through Grassy Seed-using Psychic-types such as Reuniclus and Galarian Slowbro. This set also has an exceptional matchup versus stall teams and is still able to check many offensive Pokemon such as Alakazam. Fiery Wrath is the main attack on this set as it has acceptable coverage and is reliable. Nasty Plot is the optimal choice for the second slot as it provides the immediate power to overwhelm the aforementioned Grassy Seed-using Psychic-types; more specifically you just lose to them if you aren't Nasty Plot. it also prevents Galarian Moltres from being too passive when first entering the battle. Hurricane is an option for more longevity offensively, especially when facing stall teams that Galarian Moltres succeeds against, and also prevents Terrakion from freely switching in and getting a boost to its attack. Do note, however, Galarian Moltres will struggle much more with defeating Grassy Seed-using Psychic-types as it will be forced to rely on Berserk boosts. Flat out wont beat them if u reveal Hurricane too, since they can just keep CM'ing on you and not let yuo accrue zerk boosts. The aforementioned combination of Rest and Sleep Talk allow Galarian Moltres to effectively stallbreak thanks to the fact it can heal up status and replenish Berserk boosts, with the latter enabling it to become too powerful for stall teams. more specifically it can't be worn down by stuff like Toxic either. Imo it's worth giving an very short mention to the fact that very fat teams will often put something like a Nihilego or even a Zeraora in their structures to help deal with NP Goltres though. RestTalk is also the only form of recovery in Galarian Moltres' arsenal. The Speed EVs let Galarian Moltres outspeed max Speed Primarina and Adamant Bisharp in a pinch, while the rest of the EVs with a Calm nature go towards special bulk to help Galarian Moltres against Grassy Seed users and generally check special attackers such as Latias (which can also be a Grassy Seed user), Nidoqueen, and special Salamence. Max HP also means Galarian Moltres can check certain physical threats such as Krookodile by virtue of its typing. Mention that this can be undesirable, because it can put you into 2HKO range of stuff like Nidoqueen with rocks up. Heavy-Duty Boots is the best item for item for this set as it prevents Galarian Moltres from taking Stealth Rock damage, easing the need for it to use Rest often; this also improves its matchup against faster paced teams because it tends to pivot in more against them.

It is worth noting that this set can be challenging to fit onto teams because it has a very unique role most teams don't require also makes you very vulnerable to scary breakers like Terrakion. It fares best on bulky offense and balance builds, however. A teammate that pairs well with this set is Tapu Bulu because this set effectively counters popular Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth that Tapu Bulu may struggle with. Tapu Bulu also appreciates Galarian Moltres' ability to check Jirachi and Latias. it doesn't really check Jirachi that amazingly since its slower and gets 3HKO'd by Iron Head, and just gets u-turned on against on switch-in, mention special salamence instead maybe? In return, Tapu Bulu provides a good matchup against Azumaril and Lycanroc-D. Coincidentally, Azumarill is a helpful partner to this set as Azumarill is able to break through just about any special wall that can threaten Galarian Moltres, particularly Rhyperior and the rare Diancie. Galarian Moltres can also help Azumarill by providing an ideal matchup against Amoonguss and Tangrowth once again. Nidoqueen can check Zeraora, Fairy-types, and lay Toxic Spikes to help wear down opposing stall teams so they can't outlast Galarian Moltres. The important focus of Tspikes for me is that it makes NP + fiery wrath sets much more effective by punishing stuff like Kommo-o and Terrakion for actually switching in on you. Jirachi is a solid teammate as well as it handles Nihilego and Diancie you can also mention Kyurem here, subroost kyurem in particular is one of your most consistent checks by virtue of great bulk + longevity and being faster, specs also heavily offensively pressures you though. with ease and has exemplary defensive synergy with Galarian Moltres. Jirachi also provides general utility for the team by being able to set up Stealth Rock and U-turn into Galarian Moltres. Zeraora appreciates Galarian Moltres' ability to wipe out Grassy Seed users honestly Zeraora doesn't really care about this too much? like its job isn't to deal with them and while they do check zeraora, they don't like to switch into it when terrain is up if its too premature and still get volted on for your other teammates like goltres to pressure. if anything its the fact that zeraora actually invites them in thats more relevant here. and its ability to dismantle stall teams, as Zeraora struggles heavily against both. Zeraora provides some utility in being able to function as a passable pivot to Thundurus-T. Chansey is another special tank that can pair with this set as it is a superb Thundurus, Kyurem, and Nihilego switchin. To a degree to kyurem but SubRoost can get a little dicey, maybe specify specs here especially if you are going to add the mention for kyurem with jirachi Finally, Palossand checks Terrakion, which is a horrible matchup for this set as it can OHKO Galarian Moltres with Stone Edge and even can simply pivot into Fiery Wrath for a +1 boost to its Attack stat.

mention somewhere in this, ie. when you talk about bulu for instance, about stuff that checks Zeraora, since it can fairly easily switch into you at least twice during a match and always offensively pressures you.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Galarian Moltres has a shallow movepool which limits it in viable other options. Taunt is a passable option on either set, but has a huge opportunity cost over any of the listed moves seeing as both sets are reliant on every listed move to function properly. Substitute on Double Dance gives Galarian Moltres a great matchup against offensive teams, but forces Galarian Moltres to forgo a setup move or STAB; this is even more compounded by the fact that Galarian Moltres already succeeds behind screens as is without Substitute. What item when doing this set as it's a bit ambiguous? I would never personally do it over double dance WP but presumably you'd consider SubSalac NP stabs as an option for instance? A pivot set with Heavy-Duty Boots and U-turn can check many Pokemon as well as grab momentum for your team, but leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to power.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Rhyperior all pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres.

Maybe something about how they are only effective at proactively preventing the set up though, they don't really check Goltres at all well and definitely dont want to try and throw off a faster taunt versus a +2 goltres for instance.

Would mention how they can comfortably switch into Goltres's attacks too due to weak initial power, especially against the bulky sets. Might be worth mentioning that Zeraora requires comfortable chip damage (like a solid 50% rly) to check Moltres behind screens though, as otherwise it just enables a sweep through WP instead.

Using RestTalk can make Galarian Moltres be too passive when first entering a battle, and as a result of said passivity, this set can be challenging to fit onto teams due to how often it can invite wallbreakers such as Terrakion, Azumarill, and Kommo-o to come in.

Nasty Plot and Agility are the setup moves that make Galarian Moltres a potent sweeper; after using both, Galarian Moltres can OHKO most the metagame and outspeeds the entirety of it. The only attacks here needed here are STAB attacks Fiery Wrath and Hurricane, as they have outstanding coverage, (AC) which is evidenced by the fact that the only UU-relevant (AH) Pokemon they miss out on are Bisharp as well as both and the rare Klefki and Diancie. Weakness Policy is the most optimal item for this set, (AC) as the most effective way for an opponent to take down Galarian Moltres behind screens is a super effective attack, meaning it activates a decent amount of the time and gives Galarian Moltres exceptional power when coupled with Nasty Plot. Using a Weakness Policy can also create opportunities for Galarian Moltres to set up in one turn, as using Agility on the same turn in which Galarian Moltres is hit with a super effective attack will lead to Galarian Moltres essentially gaining a Nasty Plot and Agility boost simultaneously. Heavy-Duty Boots are is also a viable item choice, (AC) as preventing Stealth Rock damage can make it much more challenging for an opponent to take down Galarian Moltres at all. Heavy-Duty Boots also can give Galarian Moltres a better shot at setting up should screens fail to be in play, as even without screens it has enough bulk at full health to set up a respectable amount of the time. It is worth noting, however, that a Weakness Policy is the far better choice the majority of the time because of how often Galarian Moltres take super effective (RH) attacks behind screens. The EV spread enables Galarian Moltres to outspeed the albeit rare Choice Scarf Latias after an Agility while adding a bit to its bulk and maxing out maximizing its Special Attack.

Double Dance Galarian Moltres fits almost exclusively on screens-based hyper offense teams because a large part of what makes Galarian Moltres a successful sweeper is its incredible bulk when behind screens. As a result of this, Grimmsnarl or and Alolan Ninetales are virtually essential teammates because of their screen setting capabilities. They both have different advantages to them, as the former can almost always guarantee at least one layer of screens thanks to Prankster, while the latter is the quickest Aurora Veil setter in the tier and requires only one turn to essentially set up both screens. Common Stealth Rock setters on hyper offense teams are also crucial teammates, (AC) as they add rack up chip damage to on Pokemon that check Galarian Moltres such as Diancie. Krookodile is the most notable one, (AC) as it provides Stealth Rock, an Electric-type immunity, Intimidate, and a good enough Speed tier to Taunt shut down most other opposing entry hazard setters with Taunt. Azelf is an alternative to Krookodile, as it can take advantage of its much better Speed tier to set up Stealth Rock and Taunt at the cost of an Electric-type immunity as well as the utility of Intimidate. Calm Mind Latias works well with Galarian Moltres, (AC) as they both are capable of weakening their shared checks in Chansey and Diancie, (AC) which can open up the door for one of them to break or clean more easily. Physical sweepers who that fit well on hyper offense teams that and can break through or soften up specially bulky Pokemon able to halt a Galarian Moltres sweep—such as Chansey and Nihilego—are appreciated as partners.

Fiery Wrath is the main attack on this set, (AC) as it has acceptable coverage and is reliable. Nasty Plot is the optimal choice for the second slot, (AC) as it provides the necessary power to overwhelm the aforementioned Grassy Seed-using Psychic-types, and without it, Galarian Moltres loses to these Pokemon. Nasty Plot also prevents Galarian Moltres from being too passive when first entering the battle. If there already is another answer for Grassy Seed-using Psychic-types on the team, Hurricane is an option for more longevity offensively, especially when facing stall teams that Galarian Moltres succeeds against. Hurricane also prevents Terrakion from freely switching in and getting a boost to its Attack. Hurricane should not be used if this set is being used to defeat Grassy Seed-using Psychic types, (AC) as without Nasty Plot, (AC) it is unable to do so at all. (repeat p sure?) The aforementioned combination of Rest and Sleep Talk allow Galarian Moltres to effectively stallbreak thanks to the fact it can by allowing it to heal up status and replenish Berserk boosts, with the latter being what primarily enables it to become too powerful for stall teams if Nasty Plot is not being run. RestTalk has the benefit of allowing Galarian Moltres to avoid being worn down by Toxic, which means stall teams won't have the necessary firepower to break through it. It is worth noting that while Galarian Moltres has a fantastic matchup against stall teams, some stall teams may opt for Pokemon that check it such as Nihilego, which can disrupt it from recovering health or accumulating Special Attack boosts. The Speed EVs let Galarian Moltres outspeed maximum Speed Primarina and Adamant Bisharp in a pinch, while the rest of the EVs with a Calm nature go towards special bulk to help Galarian Moltres against Grassy Seed users and generally check special attackers such as Latias (which can also be a run Grassy Seed user), Nidoqueen, and special Salamence. Maximum HP also means Galarian Moltres can check Krookodile by virtue of its typing, although this can lead to Galarian Moltres having losing its item knocked off to Knock Off and failing to properly check other special threats due to Stealth Rock damage. Heavy-Duty Boots is the best item for item for this set, (AC) as it prevents Galarian Moltres from taking Stealth Rock damage, easing the need for it to use Rest often; this also improves its matchup against faster paced teams because it tends to pivot in more against them.

It is worth noting that this set can be challenging to fit onto teams because it has a very unique role most teams don't require as well as the fact that it is vulnerable to powerful wallbreakers such as Terrakion and Azumarill. It fares best on bulky offense and balance builds, however. A teammate that pairs well with this set is Tapu Bulu because this set effectively counters popular Grass-types such as Amoonguss and Tangrowth that Tapu Bulu may struggle with. Tapu Bulu also appreciates Galarian Moltres's ability to check Latias and specially based (RH) Salamence. In return, Tapu Bulu provides a good matchup against Zeraora, Azumarill, and Lycanroc-D. Coincidentally, Azumarill is a helpful partner to this set, (AC) as Azumarill it is able to break through just about any special wall that can threaten Galarian Moltres, particularly Rhyperior and the rare Diancie. Galarian Moltres can also help Azumarill by providing an ideal matchup against Amoonguss and Tangrowth once again. Nidoqueen can check Zeraora and Fairy-types for Galarian Moltres. Nidoqueen can also lay Toxic Spikes to discourage Pokemon that either resist Fiery Wrath or check Galarian Moltres, such as Kommo-o and Terrakion, from switching in. Jirachi is a solid teammate as well, (AC) as it handles Nihilego, SubRoost Kyurem, and Diancie with ease and has exemplary defensive synergy with Galarian Moltres. Jirachi also provides general utility for the team by being able to set up Stealth Rock and U-turn into pivot out to Galarian Moltres with U-turn. Zeraora is a solid teammate because it appreciates Galarian Moltres's ability to dismantle stall teams, (AC) as which Zeraora struggles heavily against them. In return, Zeraora provides some utility in being able to function as a passable pivot to Thundurus-T, and it can also invite Grassy Seed users to switch in (RH) so Galarian Moltres can handle them. Chansey is another special tank that can pair with this set, (AC) as it is a superb Thundurus, Choice Specs Kyurem, and Nihilego switchin switch-in. Palossand is a helpful teammate because it checks Terrakion, which is a horrible matchup for this set, (AC) as it can OHKO Galarian Moltres with Stone Edge and even can simply pivot into Fiery Wrath for a +1 boost to its Attack stat. Palossand, when holding a Colbur Berry, can also check Zeraora and prevent it from grabbing momentum with Volt Switch.

Other Options
=============

Galarian Moltres has a shallow movepool, (AC) which limits it in viable other options. Taunt is a passable option on either set, but it has a huge opportunity cost over any of the listed moves seeing, (AC) as both sets are reliant on every listed move to function properly. Forgoing a STAB or boosting move for Substitute is an option on the Double Dance set to give Galarian Moltres a better matchup against offensive-based (or offense-based) teams, and it can even function decently to an extent when holding alongside an item such as a Salac Berry or Petaya Berry depending on boosting move is being used, but overall it is less reliant than the standard Double dance set; this is even more compounded by the fact that Galarian Moltres already succeeds against offensive-based teams behind screens as is without Substitute. A pivot set with Heavy-Duty Boots and U-turn can check many Pokemon as well as grab momentum for your team, but it leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to power.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion, Lycanroc-D, and Rhyperior all pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres. The aforementioned rock-types pose a threat in various ways; Terrakion easily OHKOes it with Stone Edge and can boost its Attack stat by switching into a Fiery Wrath, Lycanroc-D can halt a sweep with priority Accelerock as well as do a lot of damage with either Close Combat or the rarer Stone Edge, and Rhyperior can tank a hit and wear Moltres down with Rock Blast or Toxic. Nihilego and Diancie also serve as great checks, as the former can take any boosted attack and retaliate with a Rock-type STAB attack, (AC) while the latter flat out counters Moltres by virtue of its typing and bulk.

**Fairy-types**: Azumarill and Primarina pose a huge threat to Galarian Moltres, (AC) as both are capable of OHKOing either set. Bulkier variants of Primarina also can take a boosted Hurricane to boot. Diancie once again is notable as a Fairy-type because it can hit Moltres hard with Diamond Storm and brush shrug off any attack Galarian Moltres tries to hit it with.

It is worth noting, however, that most Taunt users can usually only proactively halt Galarian Moltres from making progress, as when it is boosted on either set it can do a lot of damage to them when boosted.

**Electric-types**: Electric-types such as Zeraora and both Thundurus forms formes OHKO or heavily dent Galarian Moltres with ease. This is especially concerning on to Galarian Moltres's bulky set, as they are one of a few Pokemon that can be reliably depended upon to outspeed and break through it. Most Electric-types can also switch into unboosted Galarian Moltres when it is unboosted with ease, especially on the RestTalk set, and force it out. However, when behind screens, significant prior damage is often required on Galarian Moltres for Electric-types to OHKO Galarian Moltres. If they don't OHKO Galarian Moltres, they may simply activate a Weakness Policy and propagate a sweep.

**Priority**: Powerful priority moves, with the exception of Sucker Punch, are one of the quickest ways to halt a Galarian Moltres's sweep once screens have faded away. Most notably, Lycanroc-D's Accelerock and Mamoswine's Ice Shard both can take away well over half of Galarian Moltres's HP outside of screens. Other priority users, such as Choice Band Azumarill and Choice Band Scizor, both can take away over a third of Galarian Moltres's HP when screens are no longer in play.

[OVERVIEW]

Galarian Moltres is both an offensive and defensive threat in UU. Because its fantastic bulk and defensive typing make it exceptionally hard to take down when screens are set up, Galarian Moltres finds itself as is a staple on screen-based hyper offense teams, taking advantage of great setup moves in Nasty Plot and Agility to become an extremely effective sweeper. Coupled with STAB attacks that provide near-perfect coverage, Galarian Moltres can be remarkably hard to stop after it sets up. Galarian Moltres can also fill a defensive role by using a RestTalk set that allows it to be is one of the few Pokemon capable of defeating Psychic-types utilizing the Grassy Seed and Calm Mind combination such as Reuniclus. Such sets can almost singlehandedly defeat stall teams and, (comma) against more offensive-based teams, (comma) can even function as a decent pivot into Pokemon such as Tapu Bulu if running Hurricane, (comma) as well as perform as a great status absorber to the omnipresent Amoonguss and Tangrowth. However, having only base 100 Special Attack can halt prevent Galarian Moltres from breaking through specially bulky Pokemon such as Rhyperior, even when boosted. Galarian Moltres also requires two turns to set up if a Weakness Policy is not used or activated, which leaves it vulnerable to Taunt and status afflictions.
